The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and became difficult to turn. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 201,000.
I have about 08/1825 had the throttle body replaced on my vehicle which assisted with the problem temporarily. Then the problem started again 09/20/25 the car act like it’s stalling while driving and can’t see what hear the vehicle is in. The car is not getting any signal to the engine as I have been advised the TCM is faulty. There was a code of U0101.
To be able to afford repairs and return it to release date price close to around 27,000 to 28,000 tire got needed air awhile and radiator and the reservoir or holder got replaced still not knowing how to repair the rest with getting the money to for safety standards or requirements wondering if program help getting it repaired and or a new vehicle same company or model not trying to have it be
I have trouble codes that occasionally come up even after vehicle has been serviced. The vehicle used to drive fine. Now it started miss firing. I was told the problem was coming from the engine compartment/sensors. An OBDII diagnosis detects a problem with B Camshaft Position Timing Over Advanced or System Performance Bank 2 (p0024). I fear that without the fix, the miss firing can cause an accident. The engine light is illuminated when this happens.
The actuators in the air vents are faulty and I've had to have them repla ed multiple times now. They still continue to make clicking noise sounds and blow cold air in winter/hot air in summer. The trunk deck lid paint is bad. The clear coat has been coming off. Paint all over the car's clear coat has been coming off. There is also some spots where it's down to the metal showing rust/corrosion. Finally, and most seriously, is the car's Traction Control System. It goes off constantly and without warning! It's been doing this randomly, in all types of weather conditions, for some time now. It goes off under normal driving conditions. I barely pull out of a parking space, or make a slow turn, or pull out of a parking lot at a very slow speed and it just goes off. The really dangerous part is that it stalls the car almost to a complete stop, when I've been making a turn well before oncoming traffic, and it stalls almost causing an accident on several occasions now. Most of the incidents are on sunny days where there's no inclement weather! This system is not safe and is unreliable. I've checked many public forums, like Reddit, and there are many other Chevy Impala owners who complain of the same exact problem. Yet Chevy has issued No recalls!? The only recall I've seen close to this is for 2011 year models. Although my car is a 2012, 2011 parts likely were used. If the recall affects 2011 Impalas, then any model that used 2011 parts should be included in this recall. I cannot trust the safety of my car's Traction Control System anymore as it comes on without warning, under no circumstances where it would need to come on. People are in danger with this defect! The car cosmetically, specifically the paint job and the flimsy actuators, are also defective. I've always taken excellent care of my vehicle, regularly having maintenance done at my local Chevy Dealership. Another defect that Chevy had to fix was my fuel pump that went out for no reason! I have receipt for this.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake hose needed to be replaced. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V398000 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.
Stability traction control I have had to fix it 3 times once was ball bearing and the other was a wire harness and it has to go in shop again for stability traction issues again also the door blending parts keep failing in my car I have had 3 replaced
Stability control light comes on which puts the engine in restricted power ABS and brake light comes on front driver side brake continuously holds on when trying to accelerate
I put my car in reverse and the car turned off and have turn back on. When I try to start it, I don’t hear any fix or crank. Before this happened, my car was slow to change gear or it would will change so fast that my car will lose control and I did not feel safe at all.
Fuel pump replacement with Gm dealership parts provider now car engine doesn't shut off right after key is turned off and car doesn't want to talk gas when fueling then doesn't want to start after fueling
The stability track light is on and abs. The sensor in the hubs go out even in New hubs. When I'm pulling out onto the road the traction light comes on an makes a grinding noise and the power goes down .I was told it was the stability track chain and the sensor in my right hub.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that on three separate occasions, while driving in the rain, the steering wheel seized. Additionally, upon starting the vehicle, the key failed to release from the ignition. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. The VIN was not provided.
I purchased the vehicle used. Four months after I purchased it the traction control, stabilitrak and reduced engine power light came on. I took it to a certified mechanic, he said the code came back as a faulty battery. He replaced the battery and said everything should be fine. Less than 4 hours the car did the same thing. I took it back and he said it was the throttle so he cleaned it costing me a total of approximately 350.00. I didn’t have any problems for 2 months. Now it seems to be getting worse and does it almost every time I start the car. The car idles rough and shifts hard if I drive it. Also the traction control light comes on when I turn left and makes a grinding noise. Since the issue I’ve researched and found several complaints regarding the same issue.
When making left turns the car will make a loud grinding noise and will stop momentarily; it says it is due to the traction control on the dash. It is extremely unsafe when making a turn while a car is coming and there's nothing you can do. Also while making left hand turns the wheel will sometimes lock and you can't manually move the steering wheel. You have to turn off the car and wait sometimes 10+ minutes then the wheel will unlock. Now when I go to start my car it starts shaking and making a loud noise and rev low. After about 1 minute it will completely turn off and it will say service Stabilitrak and service traction control.
Both front seat belts sometimes do not click when buckling up. Sometimes you have to reinsert the metal end into the buckle several times to get it to "click". If it doesn't click you can pull on the strap and it will come out causing a safety issue.
Passenger dim headlight keeps going out causing a unsafe issue. The plug gets hot and is damaged.A service bulletin was put out on this issue in 2014 so gm has known that this was a problem for a long time. I read several complaints on this issue and can't understand why a recall has not been issued unless gm thinks that it is safe to drive with one headlight. I know from experience that our state police department doesn't think that it is since I just got a warning because my headlight was out again.
Stabilizer makes loud noise I had it repaired before at southpointe chev.tulsa ok that bill was 700.00 dollars I'm having the same problem again can you pls help me
The car has been in the shop twice within 6 months having it. It was towed twice, once for transmission issues and having no power to it at all then it back in the shop for warning lights. I also had it in the shop for about an hour to have a new tire put on it after loosing air. It had to be towed back home for all the brakes being shot and I'm now having an issue with the rear left caliper having a slow leak, the rear left sway bar is also broken in half. The whole entire car has issues and the leasing company and dealership refuse to do anything to help along with not helping me get the payment down. After one thing gets fixed, another thing happens. The suspension is getting bad and has been like that since my fiance and i got the car. The dealership said everything was new and fixed. We had 2 kids in the car and their safety was put at risk as well as others that got in the car. The car is getting to be a death trap for me. the warning lights that were coming on were Service Stabilitrak, Service Brake Assist, Service Trac Control and Service Brake System. These were coming on after I had the car in the shop for the transmission issue. Those lights are now not coming on. My fiance and I were told by the dealership that the brakes were new, nothing mechanically wrong with the car and drives smoothly, this was said before we took the car for a test drive. We were there to buy a car but after we signed the papers, we were told it was a lease.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED CAUSING THE STEERING TO LOCK AND THE BRAKES TO FAIL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO STREET SIGN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FALL INTO A DITCH. THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED.THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS TOWED TO AN IMPOUND LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.
MY CAR'S ENGINE ALWAYS FEELS LIKE IT'S DRAGGING IN THE FRONT AND SOUNDS REALLY REALLY BAD LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO EXPLODE OR SOMETHING IT MAKES A LOT OF NOISE AND TICKING SOUND AS WELL WHEN I'M DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNCONTROLLABLE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE CURB. THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DRIVER'S RESIDENCE. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE CONTACT CALLED KOONS WHITE MARSH CHEVROLET (10207 PHILADELPHIA RD, WHITE MARSH, MD 21162; (410) 931-8600) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS LIKE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V398000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
JUST BOUGHT CAR HAVEN'T HAD ANY RECALL MAINTENANCE CHECKED BY VIN
THE REAR IMPACT BAR ON MY 2012 IMPALA IS ROTTED OUT, NOT JUST RUSTED, ROTTED. IT OFFERS NO PROTECTION IN A REAR END COLLISION. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND THE REST OF THE CAR IS STILL PRETTY CLEAN WITH VERY MINOR RUST IN THE BODY SEAMS.
TRACTION CONTROL AND STABLITRAK LIGHTS COME ON. GRINDING SOUND AND HESITATION BEFORE MOVING IN REVERSE, GOING STRAIGHT AND TURNING. THE HESTIATION KEEPS THE CAR FROM MOVING. CAN TURN OFF AND FIX THIS ISSUE FOR A SHORT BIT OF TIME WITH THE BOTTOM ON THE DASH. AFTER A WHILE TURNING IT OFF DOESN'T HELP BECAUSE IT TURNS ITSELF BACK ON.
I HAVE A 2012 CHEVY IMPALA, THE TRACTION SERVICE CONTROL AND ABS/STABILITRACK KEEPS GIVING ME ISSUES. I HAVE A GRINDING NOISE, DECREASED POWER AND CAR WILL NEARLY STOP ON YOU FROM TIME TO TIME, PARTICULARLY WHEN TURNING. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, MORE THAN ONE, THEY KEEP TELLING ME THE HARNESS ATTACH TO MY TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM SNAPS. IVE HEARD MY MODEL HAS THIS ISSUE. I SEE NO RECALL FOR MY VIN, BUT I HAVE THE SAME ISSUES.
CLUNKING , GRINDING NOISE SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE ABS LIGHTS COME ON LOSE POWER WHEN REVERSING OR MAKING A LEFT TURN. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS GOING TO THE SENSORS IN THE WHEELS. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM ACROSS MANY YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE. PEOPLE ARE SPENDING MONEY UNNECESSARILY ON PARTS SUCH AS WHEEL HUBS AND BEARINGS WITHOUT FIXING SAID PROBLEM. MANY PEOPLE ARE ALSO REPORTING CARS TURNING OFF AS A RESULT OF THIS. *TR
I HAVE HAD MAJOR FAILURE OF ALL OF THE MAIN FUNCTION COMPONENTS OF THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION. MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE REPLACED, THE INNER AND OUTER TIE RODS, LL 4 WHEELBEARING ASSEMBLY, SWAY BAR LINKS, CONTROL ARMS, CV AXLES. I HAVE TO REPLACE BRAND NEW TIRES EVERY 6,000 10,000 MILES BECAUSE THE MECHANICAL FAILURES ARE WEARING ON THE RUBBER SO RAPIDLY AND AL WAS AND UNEVENLY. I HAVE NEVER NOT HAD A N ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE PUT MORE MONEY IN REPAIRS THEN THE PAYMENT, WHICH ARE MORE THAN WHAT I OWE STILL ON THE REMAINDER (FINANCED). ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION IS FALILING RAPIDLY. I HAVE REPORTED PRIOR ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS DATE. I CANNOT JUSTIFY REPAIRING, MAINTENANCE OR EMERGENCY, A VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN THE VALUE OF THE REPAIR COST. GM SHOULD BE ASHAMED AND PUNISHED FOR SUCH CRIMES AGAINST CONSUMERS.
The front wheel hub assembly fails after numerous replacements. The after-market parts do not resolve the problem. Thw assembly girnds and hesitates on right turns during acceleration. This causes hesitation and an unsafe manner when making turns, suddenly, or moving away from emergency vehicles. This is a flaw in the manufacturer with the wheel hub that must be addressed. Thousands of dollars in repairs. Safety is at risk when the vehicle hesitates on turns with oncoming traffic. The Dealer has inspected the part and several auto mechanics. The constant warning light in every case is the 'traction control' orange icon blinks when wheel grinds and hesitates. This will cause wear and tear to the sensor causing the ABS LIGHT, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK. Service documents attached from 3 mechanics and 5 warranty replacements in 2 years.
CAR LUNGED INTO CAR IN FRONT EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT ON BRAKE. PLACED CAR IN REVERSE AND IT KEPT GOING IN REVERSE VERY FAST UNTIL CAR BACKED UP ONTO A CURB!!! IT WAS AS IF THE ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK EVEN THOUGH FOOT WAS ON BRAKE. *TR

WHEN ENTERING CAR THERE IS TAPPING NOISE BEHIND THE PASSENGER GLOVE BOX,THIS NOISE WILL CONTINUE FOR APPROX; 5 MIN ,WHEN KEY IS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION NOISE WILL CONTINUE FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE STOPPING.. CAR IS GARAGE KEPT. MAIN DRIVER IS A SENIOR DRIVER.(83 Y.O )
THIS VEHICLE, IN EARLY NOVEMBER 2019, AT APPROXIMATELY 41,000 MILES BEGAN MAKING A "POPPING" NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT SUSPENSION/STEERING AREA, PRIMARILY WHILE TURNING LEFT (AND SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING RIGHT). THE NOISE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER A ONE MONTH PERIOD. SUSPECTING IT MAY BE A DEFECTIVE TIE ROD END (PASSENGER SIDE), I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE (ON 12/21/2019) AND FOUND THAT THE STEERING KNUCKLE (AT THE STEERING KNUCKLE ARM - WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE PASSENGER TIRE ROD) WAS FRACTURED/BROKEN, CREATING A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM (THE STEERING KNUCKLE IS FRACTURED AT THE TIE ROD KNUCKLE ARM, AND THEREFORE IT APPEARS POSSIBLE THE STEERING KNUCKLE COULD SHEER OFF AT THE TIE ROD, RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL). THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, OR HIT ANY CURBS, POT HOLES, OR SIMILAR ITEMS. I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHILE MAKING A 90 DEGREE LEFT-HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, ABOUT 500 FEET FROM MY RESIDENCE (WHILE DRIVING HOME). THE ISSUE/NOISE HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE SINCE THEN, AND BASED ON MY INSPECTION LAST NIGHT IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IT APPEARS THAT THE STEERING KNUCKLE WAS MANUFACTURED INCORRECTLY (IT'S AN ORIGINAL GM PART, WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN MADE OF CAST ALUMINUM). FROM MY ONLINE RESEARCH, IT ALSO APPEARS THAT A LOT OF OTHER 2000-2013 CHEVY IMPALA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME. THIS VEHICLE, IN MY OPINION, NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE (BAD STEERING KNUCKLES). ALSO, THIS IS A CALIFORNIA VEHICLE WITH ZERO CORROSION ISSUES. ALSO, I WORK AS AN ACCIDENT/CLAIMS INVESTIGATOR FOR A MAJOR AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY (AND THEREFORE HAVE SIGNIFICANT KNOWLEDGE OF VEHICLES, COLLISIONS, ETC). THIS VEHICLE IS (BY ALL OBJECTIVE STANDARDS) IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND GM SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL (IN MY PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL OPINION).
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that two days after purchasing the vehicle and driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an abnormal clicking sound coming from the dashboard. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the sounds were coming from the heater actuator and it could lead to an air conditioner failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that assistance would not be provided since the vehicle was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
THE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY IS CONTINUOUSLY DEFECTING. INHAVE REPLACED BOTH SIDES A MINIMUM OF 6 TIMES SINCE 2013. THE STEERING GOES OUT, THE BRAKES GRIND THE TRACTION CONTROL INITIATES AND IN SEVERE TIMES I LOOSE ALL POWER TO VEHICLE. THIS IS IN MOTION. FROM COMPLETE STOP TO MOTION, WHILE IN REVERSE AND WHILE TURNING IN IETHER DIRECTION.
THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS! IVE REPORTED SOME OTHER MECHANICAL FAILURES THAT PUT ME IN DANGER BUT NOT ALL AND THEY STILL HAVE YET TO STOP HAPPENING. IVE SPENT OVER 10K REPAIRING AND REPLACING STEERING, SUSPENSION DRIVE TRAIN/ DRIVE AXLE AND CHASSIS COMPONENTS. BUT NOTHING HAS HELPED. AS OF LATE I KEEP GETTING ALIGNMENTS AND REPLACED 2 TIE RODS STRUTS CONTROL ARMS AND WHEEL HUB AND BEARINGS ONLY TO HAVE MY TIRES WEAR DOWN UNEVENLY AND QUICKLY IN 2 WEEKS. I PURCHASED THE TIRES BRAND NEW 6 MONTHS AGO. WITH A NEW WHEELS AND FRONT OUTTER TIE RODS AS WELL (WHICH I AGAIN REPLACED 2 WEEKS AGO). ALSO REPLACED IN 2019; FRONT AND BACK BRAKE ASSEMBLY (SHOES, PADS, ROTORS) FRONT AND BACK (BOTH SIDES) CONTROL ARMS, LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT STRUT AND SPRING ASSEMBLY. NEW CV AXLE AND FRONT HUB BEARINGS FULL ASSEMBLY LEFT AND RIGHT (2 WEEKS AGO)ADDITIONAL LEFT FRONT STRUT AND SPRING ASSEMBLY (2 WEEKS AGO). THIS LIST IS JUST OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE REPAIRS; TOO MANY. YET, THE CAR KEEPS LOOSING STEERING AND FALLING APART QUICKER EVERY DAY. PLUS, THE INSPECTION EXPIRES NEXT MONTH AND IT DID NOT PASS DUE TO EMMISSIONS SYSTEM ISSUES. IT IS A 2012 & SHOULD NOT BE PROBLEMATIC YET. I ONLY KEEP REPAIRING IT BECAUSE I AM STILL FINANCING SINCE BEING RIPPED OFF BY DEALERSHIP AT 23% APR ON TOP OF OVERCHARGED 2XS BLUE BOOK. WHICH HAS ME FAR TOO UPSIDE DOWN TO TRADE IN OR EVEN SELL PRIVATELY. I WOULDN'T SELL IT TO MY WORSE ENEMY ANYWAY. CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE TO ANSWER FOR THEIR FAILURE. HARD WORKING PEOPLE PUT TRUST IN MANUFACTURERS AND DEPEND ON THEIR CARS. I MAY LOSE EVERYTHING BECAUSE OF MINE BUT NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT AND LEGAL COUNSEL. MY NEXT STEP IS TO CONTACT A CLASS ACTION LAW FIRM TO PROCURE COUNSEL FOR THESE MATTERS. GMC, THE NHTSA, AND AUTO REPAIR BUSINESSES (IE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH ON CITY STREETS GOING STRAIGHT WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE THE A/C AND RADIO POWERED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE DOORS UNLOCKED AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK" FLASHED ON AND OFF THE DASH, THE RADIO POWERED DOWN, AND THE A/C TURNED OFF. AFTER A FEW SECOND EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AT ALL. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, AND SERVICE STABILITRAK INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND WAS HEARD. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, ALL OF THE MESSAGES AND WARNING INDICATORS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR IN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING WAS FAULTY. THE ENTIRE WHEEL BEARING WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. JACK MCNERNEY CHEVROLET (363 NY-281, TULLY, NY 13159, (315) 238-5110) WAS CONTACTED AND WANTED TO CHARGE THE CONTACT OVER $100 TO PERFORM THE SAME DIAGNOSTIC TEST AS THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THE AIR CONTROL REGULATOR ARM MOTOR WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

SINCE 2017, UPON STARTING MY CAR I GET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ALERT MSGS "SERVICE STABILITRAK", *SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" ON MY DASHBOARD. I'VE HAD THE CAR INTO LES SCHWAB AND ERROR CODE DIAGNOSTICS DONE BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER BOTH FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED. THE SAME SERVICE MESSAGES STILL CONTINUE TO APPEAR ON THE DASH. LES SCHWAB HAS CHECKED THE HUB SENSOR WIRES REPEATEDLY AND ALL ERROR CODES AND FIND THEM TO BE OK. THEY FIND THE CAR TO STILL HAVE A CRUNCHING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE CAR, MOST MARKEDLY WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT, BUT CAN ALSO BE HEARD WHEN THERE IS A DROP IN ELEVATION, AS WHEN EXISTING A PARKING LOT INTO A SLIGHTLY LOWER ROADWAY. ON JUNE 14,2019, WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND TURNING RIGHT AT A STOPLIGHT, THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED AS HAS WHEN I MAKE A LEFT TURN. THE CAR SUDDENLY ACTED AS THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE BEING APPLIED VERY HARD AND THEN THE CAR HALTED BRIEFLY WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AS THOUGH IT WOULD STALL OUT. I APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR TILL I FORCED THE CAR TO MOVE AROUND THE CORNER AND AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE OF FIGHTING BRAKING RESISTANCE, I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN NORMAL 40 MPH SPEED WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THIS OCCURRED ON DRY PAVEMENT WITH NO PRECIPITATION. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 100 DEGREES. BEST DRIVING CONDITIONS WITH NO ROUGH ROADWAY. LES SCHWAB SAID THE PROBLEM WITH THE HUB SENSOR AND LEFT TURNING IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO THEM AND SAID THEY WISH IT WOULD BE MADE A RECALL ITEM AS IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM NOW. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CHEVY IMPALA. LOVE MY CAR BUT WON'T TAKE A CHANCE ON PURCHASING SAME MAKE AND MODEL. I WASN'T SO SURPRISED WHEN RESEARCHING THESE ISSUES ON THE INTERNET TO FIND HUGE NUMBER OF OWNER'S HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS.

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK DURING RUSH HOURS MY 2012 CHEVY IMPALA'S DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP SAYING " SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILINK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED" TERRIFIED AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE TRYING TO GET OVER AS MY CAR BEGAN TO GO INTO LIMP MODE.I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I WAS ACCELERATING FROM BEING STOPPED.
ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE ENGINE STARTING DIESELING (THE ENGINE WILL STILL HAVE COMBUSTION AFTER THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF). DURING A TRIP ON CITY STREETS THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED WHEN DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART THE ENGINE. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER THE ENGINE STOPPED AGAIN THIS TIME WHILE STOPPED ON A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE AUTOLAB IN PLYMOUTH MI WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH ENGINE FLOODING. YOU COULD SMELL THE UNBURNED GASOLINE ON THE TAIL PIPE. HOWEVER NO ERROR CODES WERE REPORTED. AFTER A FEW DAYS IN THE FACILITY AND WITHOUT THE EVEN DUPLICATED I HAD THE CAR BACK. COUPLE WEEKS LATER IT STARTED DIESELING AGAIN SO I WENT BACK TO THE AUTOLAB. THIS TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE INJECTION PUMP AS BEING FAULTY AND THE O2 SENSOR NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE FUELING. THEY REPLACED THE INJECTION PUMP AND SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING WITHOUT PROBLEM. THE LACK OF ERROR REPORTING BY THE OBD AND THE SUDDEN ENGINE STOP WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION MAKES ME FEEL I WAS LUCKY. I USUALLY DRIVE 30 MILE EACH WAY TO MY WORK PLACE. IF THE ENGINE STOPS ON THE HIGHWAY IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AS I AM NOT ABLE TO USE THE BRAKES (POWER BRAKES!) OR THE STEERING WHEEL (POWER STEERING) PROPERLY TO TRY TO GET AWAY FROM THE TRAFFIC BEHIND BY GOING TO THE SHOULDER.

THE ACTUATOR HAS FAILED IN THE CAR, A SMALL ELECTRICAL MOTOR THAT MOVES THE TEMP DOORS OR THE RECIRCULATION DOOR. WHEN THE ACTUATOR GOES BAD, YOU WILL HEAR A THUMP NOISE FROM UNDER THE DASH THAT IS EXTREMELY LOUD, WHICH IMPEDES THE DRIVER ABILITY TO HEAR EMERGENCY VEHICLES, WHICH IS TRUE A SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE GOOGLED ONLINE AND THERE ARE 5K COMPLAINTS OVERALL. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT WHICH IS NOT SAFE FOR CONSUMER. 2/16/2019 (SAT 3:30PM) : SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHEN DRIVING AT 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY 99 NEAR FRESNO, CALIFORNIA. FELT LIKE NO GAS COMING IN. ENGINE WAS STILL ON, BUT GAS PEDAL SEEMED TO PUMP NO GAS TO THE ENGINE. PUMPING THE GAS PEDAL HAD NO ACCELERATION RESPONSE. SPEED CONTINUED TO DROP ON THE HIGHWAY, VERY DANGEROUS! FINALLY, LUCKILY PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT MISHAP. ENGINE WAS STILL ON WHEN STOPPING BY THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, KIND OF IDLING AT LOW RPM. SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO RESTART IT TO HOPE FOR THE PROBLEM TO GO AWAY. CRANKED A DOZEN TIMES AND COULD NOT TO GET ENGINE TO CONTINUE. FELT LIKE RUNNING OUT OF GAS. 2/17/2019 SUN: THE CAR WAS FINALLY TOWED TO A NEARBY DEALER. 2/18/2019 MON DEALER SERVICE DIAGNOSIS REPORTED BROKEN "FUEL FLOW CONTROL MODULE". THE ESTIMATE OF ITS REPAIR (PART + LABOR) IS NEAR $500 I HAVE ASKED THE REPLACED MODULE TO BE SAVED FOR INVESTIGATION. SUMMARY: SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE FUEL FLOW CONTROL MODULE THAT COMPLETELY CUTS OFF THE FUEL WITHOUT A FAIL-SAFE DESIGN, NOR A WARNING, FOR A PART NOT IN THE REGULAR MAINTENANCE LIST, PARTICULARLY AT LOW MILEAGE (42,000) EXPOSES DRIVERS TO HIGH RISK OF ACCIDENTS ON THE HIGHWAY. ACTION REQUESTED: IT MAY BE A QUALITY-ESCAPED ISSUE ON SUCH A MODULE. FAILSAFE DESIGN IS NEEDED FOR 21 CENTURY HIGHWAY SAFETY. SERVICE STABILITRAK CAME ON WHEN MERGING ON TO THE FREEWAY, (WHICH INVOLVED A TURN TO GET ON THE ON-RAMP,) SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR COMPLETELY. ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI. I HAVE HAD THE BEARINGS REPLACED BECAUSE OF STABILITRAK LIGHT. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED? MY FRIEND AND I ALMOST DIED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY SENSORS OR WHATEVER IT IS WITH THESE CRAP BEARINGS. I WAS TOLD HOW THE BEARINGS ARE MADE WITH THE SENSORS BEING PLACED IN A COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS SPOT BY AUTO PARTS STORES. SAW PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH THIS VEHICLE. SAME ISSUE. HOW HAS NOTHING BEEN DONE WITH THIS?
