FROM A STOP, WHEN I TURN LEFT OR RIGHT, THE TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITY CONTROL ACTUATES CAUSING THE CAR TO SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE FORWARD MOVEMENT AND HEAR A GRINDING OR SCRAPING NOISE CAUSING AN UNSAFE SITUATION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. HAVE HAD OTHER MOTORISTS HONKING ETC. ON A HIGHWAY.
AT 47,000MILES THE ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED THE HUB WHEEL. THE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT A WEEK. THE STABILITYTRACK WARNING CAME ON. IT GOES OFF. BUT THEN WHEN I MAKE A LEFT TURN THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AGAIN. I HAVE SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS RESEARCHING TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION TO NO AVAIL. THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS CHEVY MODEL.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that for the past nine years, the blower fan had been replaced several times. The contact stated that prior to the failures, the blower fan was making abnormal tapping and clicking sounds. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The independent mechanic determined that the fan and heater needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired after every service appointment; however, the contact stated that eventually the fan and heater failed and had to be replaced. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
MY CAR MAKES A GRINDING SOUND WHEN I TURN LEFT AND LOSES POWER, ALSO TODAY THE SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST AND THE TRACTION LIGHTS ALL CAME ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I HAVE READ MANY THINGS FROM MANY PEOPLE ABOUT THIS CERTAIN PROBLEM AND IT IS COSTLY TO GET THIS FIXED AND I FEEL SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS TRYING TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC AND HAVING YOUR CAR LOSE POWER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
UNWANTED TRACTION CONTROL/ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEED. IT USUALLY HAPPENS FROM A STOP WHEN TURNING LEFT, BUT ALSO HAS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED WHEN TURNING LEFT, WHEN GOING STRAIGHT OVER A BUMPY ROAD AND ALSO WHEN TURNING RIGHT. THE ROADS ARE DRY. TRACTION CONTROL/ABS ACTIVATES WITH A DISTINCT NOISE AND VEHICLE HESITATION. DASH LIGHTS/NOTIFICATIONS ARE USUALLY NOT ACTIVATED HOWEVER SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL HAS APPEARED A FEW TIMES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS AND THE VEHICLE HESITATES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN WITH ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ONE AND A HALF YEARS VERY INTERMITTENTLY, BUT HAS BECOME CONSTANT NOW EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR 6 DAYS OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. I FINALLY DROVE WITH A MECHANIC AND EASILY REPLICATED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR A 4TH TIME (AFTER THE MECHANIC VERIFIED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM). THE CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THE PROBLEM MUST BE REPAIRED PERMANENTLY.
HARD POPPING IN THE DASHBOARD.... I KNOW 3 OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.... IS THIS NOT MEANS FOR A RECALL.... JUST COST ME 1000 DOLLARS. WITH A WARRANTY SO WHY ISN'T THIS COVERED IN A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY?
DRIVING AT LOW SPEED 40MILES OR LESS PULL UP AND STOP TO MAKE TURN AND CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON. STALLS SOME BEFORE IT WILL PULL OFF. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE ISSUE SO THEY STATED THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. LEFT LOT AND IT DID IT AGAIN.

THE VEHICLES TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON WHEN MAKING SLOW LEFT TURNS AND THE VEHICLES FRONT WHEEL SEEMS TO LOCK UP IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE HAVING RUN OVER SOMETHING.IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN TURNING LEFT AFTER HAVING BEEN AT A STANDSTILL.THIS WAS THE SECOND OR THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED IN TWO WEEKS.
DASHBOARD INDICATOR SHOWS 88 MILES FUEL RANGE REMAINING. CAR RAN OUT OF GAS. FUEL RANGE INDICATOR KEPT INCREASING THE RANGE DURING THE LAST 20 MILES OF DRIVING. NO ALARM SOUNDED. CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT. WE CAN NO LONGER TRUST THE FUEL RANGE INDICATOR.
WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS THE ESC LIGHT FLASHES AND MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AND OR WARNINGS DISPLAY TO SERVICE BRAKE, STABILITY TRAK CONTROL.
"TAKATA RECALL" I PURCHASED A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA 02/2015. ONE MONTH LATER MY CAR STOPPED IN ME. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO SERRA CHEVROLET. THEY SAID I WAS OUT OF GAS WHICH I DIDN'T BELIEVE CAUSE I WAS AT QTR OF TANK. THEY SAID WITH THE KIND OF ENGINE I HAD QTR OF A TANK MEANT EMPTY IN MY CAR. I DIDN'T BELIEVE THIS. IN 02/2016, ON MY WAY TO WORK, MY CAR STOP ON THE INTERSTATE. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO SERRA CHEVROLET AGAIN. THEY SAID MY FUEL PUMP SENSOR AND SOMETHING ELSE WAS GONE. THEY USED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED W/ SERRA TOYOTA WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I LOST MY JOB DUE TO THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. IN 02/2017, THE CAR STOPPED ON ME AGAIN. I GOT THE CAR TOWED AGAIN TO SERRA ON 02/03/17. THEY SAID IT WAS MY FUEL PUMP SENSOR. I HAD TO PAY $420.21 OUT OF POCKET ON 02/09 TO GET MY CAR. THEY SAID MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I DON'T UNDERSTAND CAUSE MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY HAVEN'T EXPIRED, I'M ALSO STILL PAYING FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH MY CARNOTE BUT I CAN'T UTILIZE, AND I ONLY USED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ONCE. ON 02/13/17 AFTER I GOT MY CAR FROM SERRA MY CAR STOP WHILE I WAS DRIVING AGAIN. I CONTACTED SERRA. THEY PAID FOR TOWING BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR AN EMC, WHICH WAS $329.18. AT THE TIME, MY CAR HAD 86,078 MILES. ON 4/28/2017, I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY SAID WAS WRONG BUT I PAID $1,131.25 ON 05/15/2017. I DON'T THINK THEY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG. ON 05/24/2017, MY CAR MESSED UP AGAIN, AND I HAD TO PAY $133.00. SERRA GAVE ME A $32.95 DISCOUNT CAUSE I'VE HAD TO SPEND SO MUCH MONEY. AT THIS TIME, I HAVE 90668 MILES ON MY CAR. ON 06/21 OR 27TH, MY SERPINTINE BELT BROKE AND I HAD TO PAY $468. TO HENDRIX CHEVROLET. THAT WAS THE CLOSEST CHEVY STORE WHERE MY CAR STOPPED. NOW 7/18/17 MY CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP AT SERRA. THEY SAY MY CRANKSHAFT AND SOMETHING WITH MY MOTOR. MY CAR HAVE 93,586 MILES. I WAS SOLD A LEMON FROM SERRA TOYOTA. I HAVE PAID $2,481 SINCE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP POSITION, A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITRAK, AND BRAKE ASSIST WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, A MESSAGE WARNING OF ICY CONDITIONS APPEARED, BUT THE WEATHER WAS SUNNY AND CLEAR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BRAKE AND HUB BEARING FAILURE. THE BRAKES AND HUB BEARINGS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. UPDATED 08/22/2017*JS
2013 CHEVROLET IMPALA: A WEEK AGO MY PASSENGER WINDOW (BACKSEAT) I ROLLED IT DOWN WITH THE DRIVER SIDE BUT COULD ONLY ROLL IT BACK UP WITH THE ORINGNAL DOOR ( RIGHT SIDE BACK DOOR) AND NOW MY BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON I HAVE TO UNPLUG BATTERY TO CUT EVERYTHING OFF BECAUSE IT WILL NOT GO OFF ANY OTHER WAY I TURNED CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND ALSO TURN LIGHTS OFF INSTEAD OF AUTO AND STILL THEY REMAIN ON
I HAVE A CHEVY IMPALA I BOUGHT IT A YEAR AGO JULY 2016 MY SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, SERVICE SABILITRAK , AND SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST KEEPS BLINKING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING MY BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY CONTRACTS AS IF MY CAR IS TRYING TO STOP ITSELF MAKING ME JERKS AND THE CAR JERKS REPORTED IT TO MY FINANCE COMPANY THAT FINANCE THE CAR AND THE COMPANY THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM SO IT SHOULD BE ON RECORD THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A YEAR. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR JUST SLOWED DOWN WITH SERVICE STABILITRAK POPPING UP ON THE DASH. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY 900 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX. NOW JUST HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MORNING JAN 6, 2017. CALLED CHEVROLET CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY SAID THIS IS SOMETHING I WILL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR OUT OF POCKET. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. *TR
IGNITION STICKS IN THE 'START' POSITION & HAS TO MANUALLY BE TURNED TO THE 'RUN' POSITION. NEW IGNITION HAD TO BE INSTALLED.
UPON USING THE KEY FOB TO LOCK OR UNLOCK DOORS, OR JUST OPENING AN UNLOCKED DOOR, A LOUD CLICKING SOUNDS STARTS FROM UNDER THE DASH AND CAN LAST FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND SHIFT SIDE FROM DRIVE SIDE TO PASSENGER SIDE AND BACK. THE A/C NOR HEAT WORKS WHILE THE CLICKING SOUND IS MADE. WHEN YOU CHANGE SETTING FROM A/C TO HEAT, THE CLICKING SOUND STARTS AGAIN. INITIALLY, AFTER THE CLICKING SOUND STOPPED, THE A/C AND/OR HEAT WORKED FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. NOW, AT TIMES, NEITHER THE A/C NOR HEAT WORKS. IF EITHER WORKS, IT IS ONLY ONE SIDE AND IT SHIFTS AS TO WHICH SIDE WORKS. BOTH SIDES NO LONGER WORK AT ONCE. DRIVER AND PASSENGER HAVE SEPARATE A/C AND HEAT CONTROLS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND THERE IS NOT A KEY IN THE IGNITION. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS ON, WHILE IN DRIVE AND IN PARK, STATIONARY, MOVING, TURNING, STOPPED, ETC. ALWAYS MAKES THE CLICKING SOUND WHEN UNLOCKING AND LOCKING DOORS. NOT FOB RELATED BECAUSE CLICKING SOUND HAPPENS WHEN MANUALLY UNLOCKING AND LOCKING DOORS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE KEY IS NOT IN THE IGNITION. (OTHER IMPALA OWNERS HAVE TOLD ME THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE) THE CLICKING SOUNDSTARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND WOULD HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY. NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY, EACH TIME THE DOOR OPENS AND AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF. IF WE ARE UNSURE IF DOORS ARE LOCKED AND USE THE KEY FOB TO LOCK, THE CLICKING STARTS AGAIN.
AFTER REVERSING, THEN WHEN ACCELERATING OUT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, MY CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE, I CAN FEEL IT IN MY ACCELERATOR AND I LOSE POWER, MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT GOES ON, SOMETIMES MY BRAKE ASSIST, ABS, AND STABILTRAK LIGHTS COME ON TOO... IF I BACK OFF AND TRY AGAIN I CAN THEN ACCELERATE OUT AND PROCEED AS NORMAL, HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, HARD TO DUPLICATE, MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE IF I NEED TO ACCELERATE OUT OF A TURN THEN I WILL NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO SO. I WANT TO TAKE IT IN TO SEE IF IT NEEDS A REPAIR, BUT BY READING FORUMS, MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY IMPALA AND HAVE PAID HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO GET DIFFERENT THINGS FIXED, AND IT DOESN'T SOLVE THE ISSUE. STARTED 3 WEEKS AGO, AND HAS HAPPENED MANY TIME IN THAT 3 WEEKS. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 85,000 MILES ON IT. I USE TO LOVE MY IMPALA, NOW JUST WANT TO GET RID OF IT.

BOUGHT MY 2013 IMPALA USED BUT AROUND 25000 MILES STARTED GETTING ISSUES WITH TURNING LEFT AND ACCELERATING. THE TRACTION CONTROL WILL ENGAGE AND CAUSE THE CAR TO HESITATE. BIG ISSUE WHEN TRYING TO CROSS IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAD INTO THE DEALER MANY TIMES BUT THEY DO NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS. TWICE I HAVE HAD ALL THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND POWER REDUCED WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE COMPUTER TWICE FOR THAT ONE. THIS MIGHT BE MY LAST CHEVY. 3/36 WARRANTY IS A JOKE ANYMORE!
MY 2013 CHEVY IMPALA IS HAVING ISSUE WITH THE ABS TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. THE CAR MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN DRIVING AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTIL, SERVICE STABILITRAK, AND SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST, WHEN PRESSING BRAKE YOU CAN FEEL IT PULSATING AND THE CAR SLIDES. THE CAR ALSO DECELERATES ON IT'S ON AND THEN STARTS BACK ACCELERATING. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND CHEVY HAS YET TO RECALL THE VEHICLE, I'VE TAKING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL PLACES AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON.
TAKATA RECALL- FAULTY AC FLAP. CAUSES THE AC TO MAKE LOUD POPPING NOISE AND DRAINS ENERGY FROM THE BATTERY.
"TAKATA RECALL" WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND PROCEED TO DRIVE . THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND I HEAR A RUBBING NOISE. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THEY DON'T BELIEVE THE WHEEL HUB OR BEARINGS IS BAD. I HAVE NOTICED OTHER IMPALA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. MY VEHICLE IS 78,000 MILES AND MY BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY CHEVROLET BY A RECALL. ASAP I AM NEEDING TO DRIVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY OF ROUND TRIP MILES OF 4,000. VERY SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR , AFRAID THAT IT IS THE BEARING AND WILL LOCK UP ON ME ON THE FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN TWICE FOR VARIOUS REPAIRS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOPPED POSITION, ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING TO EITHER SIDE, EXPERIENCED A GRINDING NOISE, LOSS OF POWER, DIMMING LIGHTS, AND ABS LIGHT COMING ON. GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM LOWER ENGINE AREA IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. REPEATED OCCURRENCES ARE BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. NOT KNOWN WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BUT APPEARS TO BE TIED TO ABS/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. POSTINGS OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS HAVE APPEARED IN VARIOUS WEBSITES DEALING WITH FREQUENT PROBLEMS OF SPECIFIC VEHICLES. GM DEALER CHARGED ME DIAGNOSIS FEE, BUT FOUND NOTHING. GM DEALER SAID IN ORDER TO FIND THE PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE TO BRING CAR IN WHEN ABS LIGHT WAS ON. I AM CONCERNED THAT I AM DUE FOR A SIGNIFICANT FAILURE BEFORE DEALER FINDS THE PROBLEM, OR ACKNOWLEDGES SAME. ALTHOUGH I REFERENCE ONE DATE OF OCCURRENCE, THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 6 MONTHS WITH INCREASING EVENTS AS OF LATE.
MY CAR HAS BEEN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN BACKING UP OR TURNING LEFT. IT DOES IT ONCE IN A WHILE. WHEN ACCELERATED IT DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE THEN IT TAKES OFF.ALMOST CAUSED MY DAUGHTER TO HAVE A WRECK TODAY AND I'M NOT PLEASED. TOOK IT TO A FEW PLACES TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND IT WOULDN'T DO IT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY, STABILIZER BAR, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TIE RODS, AND BRAKES SHOULD BE REPLACED TO MITIGATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
IN 2016 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, SERVICE STABILITRACK LIGHT AND SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALER AND THEY CLAIMED MY CAR WAS MISFIRING, ALONG WITH THE LEFT WHEEL HUB, AND A TUNE UP. LONG STORY SHORT, IN THREE MONTHS I SPENT ABOUT $3000 ON SOMETHING THAT IS CONTINUING TO HAPPEN. BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS NOW IT FEELS LIKE MY BRAKES SLIP WHEN THE LIGHTS COME ON. AND THEY COME ON AND OFF AND ON AND OFF..I COULD JUST HAVE TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE LIGHTS ARE DINGING. I TRIED TO SEE IF GENERAL MOTORS WILL HELP ME, AND OF COURSE THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. AS I READ THROUGH ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS, IT MAKES ME FEEL LESS CRAZY SINCE EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO A SHOP THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE DOESN'T PICK UP ANY CODES. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. AND GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO DO BETTER IN MAKING THEIR CONSUMERS HAPPIER WITH THEIR PRODUCTS.
WHEN STARTING FROM A STANDSTILL, THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM SEEMS TO KICK IN AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. INITIAL OCCURRENCES ONLY SEEMED TO HAPPEN WHEN TURNING LEFT FROM A STANDSTILL, BUT NOW IT IS OCCURRING WHEN TURNING EITHER DIRECTION FROM A STANDSTILL. THIS IS OCCURRING AT LOW SPEEDS ON BOTH DRY AND WET PAVEMENT WITH VERY LITTLE ACCELERATION (I.E., NO TIRE SLIPPAGE).
CAR WAS MAKING A SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN YOU TURNED THE WHEEL. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER. THEY SAID STEERING COLUMN WAS LEAKING AND COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING IF NOT REPAIRED. 1300.00 TO REPAIR. THIS IS A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT. WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. LOSING YOUR STEERING IS CERTAINLY A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN.
WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON THE ABS LIGHT STAYS ON, DRIVING STABILITY LIGHT STAYS ON, AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN IF I HAVE IT DISENGAGED.

BRAKE AND STEERING SYSTEM DEFECT. WHILE DRIVING THE ANTILOCK BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL, STABILI-TRAK, AND BRAKE ASSIST LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC AT MODERATE SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM (WHAT!!!!) AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE DRIVETRAIN BUT ONLY PART OF THE 30K COVERAGE. THEY THEN SAID IT WOULD BE AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE THEY COULD LOOK AT THE CAR. (BRAKE AND STEERING ISSUES NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM?) IN DOING SOME CHECKING ON THE INTERNET IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS AND ONGOING ISSUE WITH CHEVEROLET AND GM VEHICLES FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE PROBLEM THERE HAVE BEEN EVEN MORE SERIOUS SIDE EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRAKE, STABILITY SYSTEM. SOME EVEN REPORTED TO YOUR DEPARTMENT. IT WOULD BE GOOD IF YOUR DEPARTMENT WOULD BE PROACTIVE AND HAVE THIS ISSUE INVESTIGATED BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN GM. BEFORE THERE ARE FATALITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE. PLEASE REFERENCE COMPLAINT NUMBER 10899363 FILED ON 8/29/2016. ON 8/30/2016 TWO ADDITTIONAL TIRES OF THE SAME DOT NUMBER WERE FOUND TO HAVE SIMILAR DEFECTS ON THE SAME VEHICLE, BUT HAD NOT COMPLETELY FAILED WITH A BLOWOUT OR AIR LEAKDOWN. THE TWO ADDITTIONAL ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ON THE SAME VEHICLE WERE FOUND, DURING INSPECTION WITH THE VEHICLE STATIONARY, TO HAVE SEPARATIONS/BULGES AT THE INNER TIRE EDGE WHERE THE TIRE FACE MEETS THE SIDEWALL. NEITHER OF THESE TIRES CAUSED ANY "THUMPING" DURING DRIVING; HOWEVER, EXAMINATION REVEALED THAT THE SEPARATION HAD BEEN ONGOING FOR ENOUGH TIME TO ALLOW WEAR OF THE RAISED AREA AND FATIGUE CRACKING/CHECKING IN THE SIPES OVERLYING THE SEPARATED AREA. IN ALL CASES, THE SEPARATED AREA WAS PRESSURIZED AND COULD BE PUSHED IN UNTIL THE OUTER TIRE RUBBER CONTACTED THE INNER BODY OF THE TIRE. ADDITTIONALLY THERE WAS NO AIR LEAKAGE OR REDUCTION IN TIRE PRESSURE. MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF THE OBSERVED DEFECT ON THESE TWO ADDITTIONAL TIRES WAS 39,000. THE DOT NUMBER OF THE TWO ADDITTIONAL AFFECTED TIRES IS M643 BHDR 3912. BE ADVISED THAT ALL TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN MAINTAINED TO THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATION. THE ATTACHED PHOTO SHOWS THE SWELLING/SEPARATION/CRACKING/WEAR AT THE TIRE EDGE OF ONE OF THE TWO ADDITTIONAL TIRES FROM DOT NUMBER M643 BHDR 3912 - OBSERVED DEFECT ON 8/30/2016 WAS SIMILAR ON BOTH OF THESE TIRES. DUE THE THE NATURE OF THIS FAILURE, WHERE SEPARATION HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN ONGOING FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AS INDICATED BY THE WEAR AND CHECKING PATTERN BUT NO "ROAD FEEL" OF THE FAILURE, A DRIVER COULD EASILY END UP WITH AN INSTANT FAILURE/BLOWOUT AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING AS HAPPENED WITH A TIRE ON THIS CAR AS REPORTED IN COMPLAINT 10899363. IN ALL CASES, THE FAILURE WAS ON THE INNER SIDE OF THE TIRE AND NOT READILY OR EASILY BE FOUND WITHOUT A DETAILED INSPECTION.

GOODYEAR EAGLE LS 2 TIRE ON A 2013 IMPALA EXPERIENCED A SIDEWALL SPLIT AND TIRE DEFLATION WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THE DISTANCE COVERED FROM THE TIME THE TIRE DEVELOPED A PERCEPTIBLE "THUMP" TILL THE SIDEWALL RUPTURED AND TIRE WENT FLAT WAS BETWEEN ONE AND TWO MILES. UNTIL THAT TIME, THE TPS DID NOT COME ON. THE ENTIRE EVENT OCCURRED WITHIN 5 MINUTES. SEPARATION OCCURRED BETWEEN THE RADIAL PLIES AND THE OUTER RUBBER COVERIG OF THE SIDEWALL. THE GOODYEAR EAGLE LS 2 TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON THIS VEHICLE. MILEAGE ON THE TIRES AT THE TIME OF THIS FAILURE WAS 39,000. TIRES HAVE ALWAYS BEEM MAINTAINED TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS.

AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE STARTED. SHORTLY AFTER, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM RESET AND ALL OF THE WARNING PROMPTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALARM, TURN SIGNALS, HORN, AND NOTIFICATIONS FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HOT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I HAD A FEW NOISES FROM THE FRONT END. ONE WAS A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I REACHED SPEEDS OF APPROX 25 MPH, THE FRONT END WAS MAKING A POPPING NOISE, WHEN I WOULD BACK UP THEN PULL FORWARD THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE, AND ALSO A FEW TIMES WHEN I WOULD MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN IT WAS LIKE MY CAR WAS STUCK FOR A FEW SECONDS WITH THE MOTOR REVVING, BUT WOULDNT MOVE. WHEN IT FINALLY WOULD, IT WOULD SHOOT FORWARD AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND THE RIGHT FRONT HUB HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY, THE FRONT ENGINE, REAR ENGINE, STRUT MOUNT, AND TRANSMISSION MOUNT WERE TORN, THE FRONT TIMING COVER AND THE STEERING GEAR RACK WERE LEAKING AND ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SO MUCH FOR SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY FOR A CAR TO RELIABLY GET ME AND MY KIDS FROM POINT A TO B SAFELY. THANKFULLY THE DEALERSHIP IS HELPING ME OUT SO I CAN AFFORDS TO GET MY CAR FIXED, AND ITS STILL COSTING ME $2000. THE CAR ONLY HAS 60,3023 MILES ON IT.

AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON IT AS WELL MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM ITS OUT THERE AND IT IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK. THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR ABOUT 80 PERCENT OF THE TIME WHEN TURNING FROM A STOPPED POSITION OR SLOW SPEED OF ANYWHERE FROM 1MPH TO 15MPH.
