THE CONSUMER IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. WHEN THE CONSUMER TURNS ON THE LIGHTS, THEY WON'T WORK. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETECT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB *TC
IN NOVEMBER OF 2004, CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT RESTART. GOT IT TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP. WAS TOLD THAT FUEL PUMP HAD GONE OUT. PAID $350 FOR REPAIRS. REPLACED PUMP AND CAR STALLED AGAIN AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 150 MILES ON HIGHWAY. LUCKILY (WIFE AND OUR 2 KIDS WERE WITH ME AND IT WAS 15 DEGREES F OUTSIDE) IT RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME ANOTHER 100 MILES AWAY. TOOK IT TO DEALER (OGDEN CHEVROLET-630-986-8000) TO GET IT CHECKED. WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD A BAD INTAKE GASKET AND NEEDED NEW WATER PUMP AND DRIVE BELT-TOTAL COST APPROX $1100.00. GOT THE WATER PUMP AND BELT REPLACED BUT NOT INTAKE GASKET. PAID $500 FOR REPAIRS. DID RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING PROBLEM. GM HAD MORE THAN 900 COMPLAINTS ABOUT BAD INTAKE GASKETS CAUSING EXPENSIVE REPAIRS ON THEIR VEHICLES 2 WEEKS LATER, CAR WOULD NOT START. TOWED IT TO REPAIR SHOP. WAS TOLD THAT 2 IGNITION COILS WERE BURNT AND NEEDED REPLACED. GOT THIS DONE WITH NEW PLUGS, WIRES AND TUNE UP AND ANTIFREEZE. PAID $520 FOR REPAIRS. FEB 2, CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. GOT IT TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP. CAR STARTED OK AND COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND WOULD NEED REPLACED. COSTS $700-$1000. *JB
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ON MY 2001 CHEVY MALIBU TWICE. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER TWICE AFTER THAT. I KEEP GETTING BLACK RESIDUE IN THE FILTER THAT PLUGS IT UP. I HAVE TRIED TO GET GAS AT DIFFERENT STATIONS BUT THAT HAS NOT HELPED. THE CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED 4 TIMES NOW. THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER HAS NO EXPLANATION ON WHAT THE BLACK RESIDUE IS. *AK *SC
I NOTICE THAT MY COOLANT HAD TO BE REFILLED BECAUSE THE "LOW COOLANT" LIGHT WAS STAYING ON IN THE DASH. THE REPAIR SHOP TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE INTAKE MANAFOLD AND I NOW HAVE COOLANT IN MY ENGINE AND IN MY OIL. THIS IS A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THE MALIBU. THE ENGINE COULD BLOW CREATING OTHER PROBLEMS. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN NOTED WITH MANY OTHER MALIBU OWNERS. *AK
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. CONSUMER HAD THE INTAKE GASKET AND INTAKE SENSOR REPLACED. VEHILCLE WAS IN THE REPAIR SHOP ONCE AGAIN. CONSUMER TRIEDTO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
FAILURE- SLIGHT LEAK IN COOLANT FROM INTAKE SEAL, CONTINUOUS RUNNING OF FANS, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. CORRECTION- NEW THERMOSTAT, NEW SENSOR FOR THE FANS, AND NEW SEAL FOR INTAKE SEAL, $900 WORTH OF SERVICE. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000 UPDATED 09/05/14*LJ UPDATED 11/28/2014 *JS
THE TAHOE BRAKE ROTORS WERE BADLY GROVED, AND THE VEHICLE BRAKES WERE LIKE NEW. DEALER SAID THE VEHICLE STOPPED OKAY, BUT WHEN I HAD THE ROTORS AND BRAKES REPLACED, THERE WAS A WORLD OF DIFFRENCE AS HOW THE VEHICLE STOPPED.I KEPT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS FOR PROOF. VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION.*AK
CAR HAS ONLY AROUND 21,000 MILES AND HAD TO HAVE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET REPLACED. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED EXHAUST FUMES SEEPED INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,397.
VEHICLE SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE, AND WAS TOLD THAT OIL WAS LOW, AND THAT MADE IT SHUT OFF. A FEW WEEKS LATER, VEHICLE CONTINUED TO CUT OFF IN TRAFFIC, AND THE CONSUMER STATED THIS WAS UNSAFE.*AK
CONSUMER STATED WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
FRONT/REAR TURN SIGNALS LIGHTS FAILED TO WORK. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THIRD REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS AND BRAKES WITHIN 3 YEARS OF OWNING CAR. *JB
HAZARD WARNING SWITCH AND TURNS SIGNALS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. A RECALL WAS ISSUED. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
DURING INSPECTION DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT WATER WAS LEAKING FROM THE HEAD GASKET. THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED. *AK
2001 CHEVY MALIBU COMPLAINED OF HEAD GASKET AND FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS. *BF THE CONSUMER HAD THE UPPER INTAKE AND HEAD GASKET REPLACED. A MONTH LATER THE VEHICLE'S FUEL PUMP FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE STARTER TO BURN UP. *NM
CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE VERY SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED IN RECALL 03V327000 CONCERNING HAZARD FLASHING WARNING LIGHT SWITCH. *AK
CAR HAS VIBRATIONS AT HIGHER SPEEDS 60+ WAS TOLD IT WAS TIRES/WHEELS THEY WERE REPLACED FOR $280 FOR TIRES AND $200 FOR JUST STEEL RIMS. CAR STILL VIBRATED AT HIGH SPEEDS AND ALSO FELT LIKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED-THE KIND OF VIBRATING WHEN BRAKING. REPLACED ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS $49 A PIECE FOR ROTORS AND $40 A PIECE FOR BRAKE PADS. CAR CONTINUED TO VIBRATE EXCEPT WHEN STOPPING. AFTER TIME NOW (3 MOS) WHEN THE CAR IS VIBRATING AND YOU GO TO SLOW DOWN IT SHAKES THE CAR EVEN WORSE. WAS THEN TOLD TO REPLACE THE WHEEL BEARINGS. JUST DID THAT YESTERDAY THEY COST ME $230 NOT ONLY DOES THE CAR STILL VIBRATE IT HAS A GRINDING NOISE WHEN YOU TRUN TO THE RIGHT NOW. SINCE IVE BOUGHT IT IT HAS VIBRATIONS AT HIGH SPEEDS AND A "RUBBING" VV, VV, VV NOISE WHEN TURING RIGHT. AFTER REPLACING WHEEL BEARINGS THE CAR STILL MAKES ALL THE NOISES AND GRINDS NOW. DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO TO FIX IT, BEGINNING TO THINK IM JUST GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRONT END. REALLY USED TO TRUST CHEVY NOW IM NOT SO SURE. I HAVE HAD WAY TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AND I JUST BOUGHT IT IN JULY2004- RIDICULOUS IF YOU ASK ME.
EXTERIOR HAZARD WARNING LIGHT FAIELD TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED WITH GM MANIFACTOR BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT COLLAPSED AND THE LEVER SHEARED OFF. THE DRIVER 'S SIDE SEAT COLLAPSED AS WELL. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE DRIVER'S SEAT TWICE BUT THE PASSENGER STILL HAS THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN FOR REPAIRS. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB *TC
CAR PARKED ALL DAY IN HOT SUMMER SUN. GRADUALLY DECELERATE FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL BY EASING OFF GAS PEDAL. EXCESSIVE BRAKING REQUIRED DUE TO GAS PEDAL STUCK. I BELIEVE A COMPONENT OF THE GAS PEDAL INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT IS EXPANDING DUE TO INTERIOR TEMPERATURE CAUSING BINDING IN GAS PEDAL COMPONENT. ONCE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT COOLS DOWN PEDAL OPERATES NORMALLY.
BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND WHEN I CHANGED THEM THERE WAS WATER IN THE LIGHT CASEING, SO WHEN I TOOK THE BULB OUT THE CIRCUT BOARD GOT CORROSION FROM THE WATER AND THERE WAS NO LIGHTS AT ALL AFTER I REPLACED THE BULBS. I TOOK CAR IN TO BERGSTROM CHEVROLET AND GOT A DIANOGSTIC,WHICH SAID CIRCUT BOARDS WHERE INOP AND THAT COSTED ME $47.17. 8/21/04 I GOT LIGHTS FIXED AND THAT COSTED $176.24 I HAD TO COME OUT OF MY POCKET, BECASUE THE EXTENDED WARRIANTY WOULDN'T COVER COST. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL , BECAUSE WATER SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN INTO THE LIGHTS.*AK
HORN DOES NOT WORK. PROBLEM STARTED OUT INTERMITTENTLY. NOW IT SEEMS TO BE PERMANENT. VERY INCONVENIENT. IT MAKES ME WONDER IF THE AIR BAGS EVEN WORK.*AK
RECALL NOTICE REGARDING 2000 AND 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU VEHICLES AND THE SOLDER JOINTS ON THE HAZARD WARNING FLASHER SWITCH MAY CRACK. *MR *SC *JB
I OWN A 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU WITH LESS THAN 41000 MILES. RECENTLY THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET FAILED, ALLOWING COOLANT AND ENGINE OIL TO ENTER MIX.*AK AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS TYPE OF CAR. CHEVY EXPECTS IT CUSTOMERS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET AND DENIES ANY RESPONSIBLITIES. AGAIN, IF YOU INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER YOU WILL FIND THAT THIS PARTICULAR TYPE OF GM CAR IS VERY PRONE TO THIS FAILURE. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT ONCE MANIFOLD GASKET FAILS THE ENGINE MAY STOP WITHOUT WARNING, AND THEN FAIL TO START.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A ROAD WITH THE SPEED LIMIT BEING 55 MPH WHICH I WAS DOING AND HIT THE EDGE OF THE ROAD ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT THE ENTIRE CAR WENT TO THE LEFT AND THE CAR HIT A TREE HEAD ON AT 55 MPH AND THE NEITHER OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CAR TOTALED. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 55-60 MPH CONSUMER NOTICED THAT ENGINE HESITATED. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE SERVICED, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK *NM

WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN 90+ DEGREE HEAT MY CAR OVERHEATED TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED IN AND WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANICS THAT MY COOLANT HAD BEEN LEAKING AND CAUSING THE CAR TO OVER HEAT THERE BLOWING THE HEAD GASKET AND CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PAY $1200.00+ TO HAVE ANOTHER ENGINE PUT IT. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A COMMOM WITH THE 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBUS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE REPAIR SHOP DONE WITH THE OLD MOTOR, BUT IT WAS FRIED.
CAR WILL NOT START AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED. PROBLEM 1ST OCCURRED ON 6-16-04. ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE ANIT-THEFT SYSTEM, WHICH CAUSED REPROGRAMMING OF THE MODULE. ON JULY 1ST ANTI THEFT LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WAS DRIVEABLE TO SERVICE SHOP AT WHICH TIME BOTH IGNITION SWITCH AND BODY CONTROL MODULE WERE IDENTIFIED AS ISSUES. REPROGRAMMED AGAIN TO SEE IF PROBLEM PERSISTS. I'VE COMPLAINED OF HESITATION UPON CAR STARTING FOR 3 YEARS WHICH THE DEALER WAS NEVER ABLE TO RECREATE. I FEEL THAT THE ANTI THEFT ISSUE MAY HAVE BEEN THE UNDERLYING ISSUE ALL THE TIME AND INTEND TO PURSUE THIS WITH THE DEALER IF PROBLEM REOCCURS. I FEEL THOUGH WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED THAT ISSUE WAS REPORTED AND SHOULD BE RECTIFIED BY DEALER AND GM. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD LIGHTS BECAME INOPERATIVE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN PUTTING KEY IN THE IGNITION TO START VEHICLE IT WILL NOT START. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. CURRENTLY, IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON 5/28/04,AND AGAIN ON 6/3/04.*AK
HORN WILL NOT ALWAYS WORKS, GOES IN AND OUT. ONLY WORKS SOMETIMES. STARTED BY JUST GOING OUT OCCASIONALLY, NOW IT HARDLY EVER WORKS. MANY FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED, ON MANY DIFFERENT OCCASIONS.*AK
FILLED GAS TANK, DROVE 100 YARDS, GAUGE DROPS TO READ EMPTY. HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY IN THE SAME MANNER. ERRATIC. REQUIRES UTILIZATION OF THE TRIP METER TO TRACK FUEL USAGE. ON ONE OCCASION GAUGE READ TANK WAS ABOUT 1/8 FULL, CAR STOPPED RUNNING AND WAS OUT OF FUEL. SECOND ISSUE: "THEFT SECURITY" LIGHT HAS BEGUN TO COME ON ERRATICALLY. DRIVING ALONG, LIGHT WILL SUDDENLY COME ON. AFTER DEPARTURE OF CAR, AND RETURN, DRIVER MUST THEN FOLLOW 10 MIN. PROCEDURE TO ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM. THIRD ISSUE: WITHOUT INSTALLATION OF HIGH QUALITY TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE, THE NOISE LEVEL AND WEAR PATTERN IS ABSURD. THE CUPPING AND WEARING HAS OCCURED ON 2 DIFFERENT SETS OF GOOD QUALITY TIRES. UPON INSTALLATION OF MICHELIN HIGH QUALITY TIRES, THE PROBLEM STOPPED.
2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING. THE CONSUMER HAS HAD THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, AND THE IGNITION SWITCHES REPLACED. *MR CONSUMER STATED THE THEFT LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE DOES NOT START. *BF *NM
THE FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED TO THE POINT WHERE THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS APPROXIMATELY 8K MILES APART. *NM
WE ARE PAYING ON A 2001 MALIBU. THE FUEL SENSOR WENT OUT SHOWING GASOLINE WHEN THERE WASN'T. THE CAR STALLED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE FUEL FILTER PLUS A DEDUCTIBLE ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. NEXT THE BLINKERS DECIDED TO ONLY WORK OCCASSIONALLY SAME WEEK THE STARTER STARTED DRAGGING THEN THE CAR STARTED TO RUN HOT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, REPLACED BLINKER SWITCH (NO MENTION MADE OF THE RECALL) REPLACED THE STARTER AND REPLACED THE GASKET THAT WAS LEAKING. WHEN I HAD ADDED COOLANT TO GET MYSELF HOME THE COOLANT THAT WAS N THE CAR WAS GREEN, THE COOLANT I PUT IN THE CAR GREEN..WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ORANGE WHEN I TOLD THE DEALER THERE WAS GREEN COOLANT IN THE CAR HE SAID OH SOMEONES BOOBOO UNFORTUNATELY YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT...ALMOST 300.00. YESTERDAY, LONG MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND LEFT WORK AGAIN RUSH HOUR, CAR BEGINS TO MAKE A HORRIBLE NOISE I PULL OFF NOTICE THE ALTERNATOR BELT IS COMING APART BUT THE NOISE THAT I HEARD HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ALTERNATOR BELT SOUNDS LIKE METAL ON METAL. $1400.00 WORTH OF WORK DONE IN APRIL, 800.00 A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THAT AND NOW THIS...THE CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED BY MY HUSBAND. NOW I READ WHAT I HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO, THE CAR WAS BOUGHT CHEVY CERTIFIED FROM A CHEVY DEALER. *LA
INTERMITTENTLY THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPROGRAMMED THE SYSTEM, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
THERE WAS A REAR COLLISION THAT OCCURED A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS FIXED WITH NO FRONTAL DAMGE AT ALL. THE REAR DAMAGE WAS MINOR. A WEEK AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW IGNITION(600.00) THAT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY.THE DEALERSHIP RECEIVED THE PAYMENT AND THE CAR WAS FIXED.THE DEALERSHIP DIDNT HAVE ANY SORT OF EXPLANATION TO WHY THE IGNITION WAS NEEDED THAT SOON AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. EIGHT MONTHS LATER THE CAR WOULDNT START.THE CAR WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP.A FUEL PUMP WAS INSTALL BUT OTHER ITEMS WEREN'T COVERED UNDER WARANTY.THE CAR WAS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEALERSHIP RECEIVED THE PAYMENT. FOUR MONTHS LATER,( MAY 1,2004),THE CAR DECELERATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY.THE DRIVER WAS FORCED TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT TO THE MAXIMUM LEVEL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WAS TOWED. *AK
I AM A SINGLE MOM OF TWO, AND AM FRUSTRATED THAT ALL OF MY SAVINGS HAVE GONE INTO THIS MONEY PIT. I HAVE REPLACED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD TWICE, AND ITS GOING OUT AGAIN! I HAVE REPLACED THE WATER PUMP, HEATER CORE WHICH ARE DYING, AND THE THEFT SYSTEM TWICE. I HAVE HAD A FUEL LEAK BY MY ENGINE AND HAD IT ENTER INSIDE MY CAR AND ITS DOING IT AGAIN, MY ABS BRAKES ONLY WORK WHEN THEY WANT, AND THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF MY COMPLAINTS! *TR
THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO WEAR THE SEAT BELT PROPERLY BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT BACK AND FORTH. *AK THE RACK AND PINION HAD A BAD LEAK. *SC THE GAS GAUGE DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. *JB
CONSUMER PURCHASED A CHEVROLET, MALIBU AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP 2-3 TIMES, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC, THAT CHEVROLET KNEW THAT THERE WAS A BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS AN ONGOING THING WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE.*AK
THE FUEL GUAGE REPORTS INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL. YOU CAN GO THE THE GAS STATION AND FILL THE CAR UP AND THE GAS HAND WILL SHOW IT AS BEING EMPTY AND BEFORE YOU PUT FUEL IN THE TANK THE GUAGE WAS AT A 1/4 TANK. YOU MAY HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WILL SHOW THAT IT IS FULL. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WILL CUT OFF IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ONE TIME THE CAR SHOWED 3/4 TANK OF FUEL WHILE IT WAS EMPTY. LUCKLY, I WAS ON A DOWNGRADE AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. FURTHERMORE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON BECAUSE THE OXYGEN SENSOR HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY THE CAR RUNNING OUT OF GAS.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT HAD THE EGR VALVE, THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP, INTAKE GASKET, AND HEAD GASKET REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, SHE HAD THE BLOCK INSPECTED FOR CRACKS. IT HAS BEEN 18 MONTHS SINCE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AFOREMENTIONED DEFECTS, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ,AND THERE WAS A DECREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF GAS MILEAGE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING PROPERLY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS ONLY OFFERED A DISCOUNT ON A NEW VEHICLE.*AK

MY 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU STEERING CYLINDER FELL APART WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. MY STEERING WHEEL DID NOT LOCK AND MY KEY WOULD NOT TURN AFTER I PARKED IT. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. *AK
