2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET LEAKING.* LD THE CONSUMER STATED GM USED DEX-COOL ENGINE COOLANT WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR SHOP FLUSHED OUT THE DEX-COOL AND REPLACED THE COOLANT, WITH A DIFFERENT TYPE OF COOLANT. ALSO, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $477.31. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHILE EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND TRAVELING LESS THAN 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO SCHEDULED AN INSPECTOR TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE INSPECTOR COULD NOT CONFIRM IF THERE WAS A DEFECT WITH THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS SEDAN PRESENTED HAS NOTICEABLY WEAK AND INEFFICIENT HEADLIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS POSING A SAFETY ISSUE. THE FOG LIGHTS ARE NOT EFFECTIVE IN MILDLY FOGGY DRIVING CONDITIONS AT ALL. IN FACT DUE TO SUCH POOR PERFORMANCE, IT IS QUITE DIFFICULT TO DISCERN WHETHER OR NOT THE FOG LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON. HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE IS POOR WITH MARKEDLY DECREASED LIGHTING EFFICIENCY IN CITY DRIVING AND ON WET ROADS. THE VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS DIM AND OR FLICKER WHEN THE DRIVER DEPRESSES THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE OR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. CONCERN THAT ON COMING TRAFFIC CAN'T DISCERN BETWEEN HIGH AND LOW BEAMS OR A CONFUSION FROM THE UNINTENDED DIMMING/FLICKERING. VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN CHECKED WITH NO PROBLEMS FOUND. ALTERNATOR/GENERATOR CHECK OK, NEW BATTERY CHECK OK, SERPENTINE BELT AND PULLEYS CHECK OK, ALL BULBS, FUSES, AND FUSIBLE LINKS CHECK OK. NEW BULBS TRIED, BUT NO INCREASE IN LIGHTING OUTPUT. VEHICLE TAKEN TO GM SERVICE CENTER IN ZANESVILLE, OHIO. SERVICE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH CUSTOMER PRESENT. SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE PERFORMANCE ISSUE WAS BASICALLY "NORMAL" AND A COMMON CONCERN AMONG MANY CUSTOMERS. SERVICE TECH. WENT ON TO SAY THAT BRAND NEW GM VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, IN FACT HE STATED THAT THEY ARE WORSE. 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS LIGHTING/ELECTRICAL PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. VEHICLE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE LIGHTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40-80 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A TUNE UP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. IN A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE, BRAKES FAILED TO WORK, AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. TOTALED MY VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER READING OTHER COMMENTS, I HAVE TO LAUGH. WHY CAN'T THEY FIX THIS WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS. THE TURN SIGNALS JUST STOPPED WORKING ONE DAY. THREE DAYS LATER THEY WORKED. THEN A FEW DAYS AFTER THAT THEY STOPPED WORKING AGAIN AND THEN JUST SEEMED TO WORK WHEN THEY WANTED TO. TOOK IT IN TO JIMMIE JOHNSON CHEVROLET WHEN THE SIGNALS WERE NOT WORKING. PICKED UP THE CAR TO HEAR THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. SURE ENOUGH THE SIGNALS WERE WORKING. THAT LASTED ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. SINCE THEN, TWO MORE TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH PRETTY MUCH THE SAME RESULT EACH TIME. NOW I NOTICE IF THE WEATHER IS VERY WARM, THE TURN SIGNALS WORK MORE PART TIME AND WHILE IT IS COOL THEY DON'T WORK AT ALL. NOW, I HAVE READ YOUR COMMENTS HERE AND BEGAN PLAYING WITH THE HAZARD FLASHING BUTTON. IF I PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE UPPER RIGHT, THE TURN SIGNALS WORK. MY 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS LEFT ME STRANDED AT A BUSY FUELING STATION. THE CAR REFUSED TO START DUE TO THE FAULTY PASSLOCK IGNITION SWITCH SYSTEM. THESE PARTS WERE REPLACED AT AN AUTHORIZED GM SERVICE CENTER AT APPROXIMATELY 47,000 MILES DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE OF REFUSING TO START. NOW AT AROUND 21,000 MILES LATER THE PARTS HAVE FAILED AGAIN. GM AND NHTSA NEED TO RESOLVE THESE SAFETY ISSUES. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR, AND I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS RELIABLE. WAKE UP THIS IS YET ANOTHER GM IGNITION PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR DECADES! THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. UPON INSPECTION THE GM MECHANIC SHOWED ME THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THERE ARE OTHER PARTS OF THE UNDER BODY THAT HAVE A LOT OF CORROSION. THERE IS POTENTIAL RISK OF FAILURE WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS UNDER 100,000 MILES ON IT, IS GARAGE KEPT AND VERY WELL MAINTAINED. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS AND ACCIDENTS RELATING TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ON GM VEHICLES. DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, IT WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LOCAL DEALER TO WORKOUT A METHOD OF PAYMENT BUT GM WAS ESSENTIALLY NOT GOING TO BE OF ANY HELP. THE LOCAL DEALER CLEARLY HAS NO INCENTIVE TO TO BARE THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THIS IS A ENGINEERING DESIGN FLAW THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE OEM. OTHER VEHICLES BY GM HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL OR ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THIS ISSUE IS PRESENT. OTHER OEM HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND QUICKLY ADDRESSED IT HAS A FREE REPAIR/RECALL TO THE THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR
I'M HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE IGNITION. SOMETIMES IT WILL START RIGHT AWAY, AND THEN OTHER TIMES IT WILL TAKE 3 - 9 TRIES!! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S REALLY HOT OUTSIDE 90+ DEGREES. WHAT'S CAUSING THIS. I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY SO THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM!! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SIGNAL SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF A SECOND VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A CUT TO THE LIP, BRUISING ON THE FOREHEAD, NECK INJURY, AND HER FRONT TEETH WERE LOOSENED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE CONTACT RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V1400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. ANTITHEFT SYSTEM INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING CAR TO STALL AND FAILS TO RESTART TAIL LIGHTS ARE FAILING FUEL SYSTEM CUTOFF. *TR
VEHICLE FRONT END SHAKES/WOBBLES SEVERELY WHEN UNDER HARD BRAKING SITUATIONS DOWN HILL. LOUD LOW RUMBLE NOISE AND PEDAL VIBRATIONS ARE EVIDENT. SHAKING AND WOBBLING IS PRESENT THROUGH VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL REQUIRING MORE STRENGTH AND DIRECTIONAL CORRECTIONS TO STEER AND GUIDE THE VEHICLE PROPERLY. DOWN HILL BRAKING COULD BE SEVERELY IMPEDED IN NORMAL DRIVING OR WHILE TOWING A TRAILER. PANIC STOPS AND LIGHT BRAKING SITUATIONS ON LEVEL GROUND ARE NORMAL STRAIGHT AND TRUE. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL CHECK OKAY AND IS CLEAN. ABS SYSTEM OPERATING NORMALLY. PARKING BRAKE OPERATING NORMALLY. VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CHECK OKAY. VEHICLE HAS 4 NEW TIRES MOUNTED AND BALANCED ON ORIGINAL FACTORY RIMS. TIRES ARE SIZED AND INFLATED TO VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. COLD TIRE PRESSURE 29 PSI IN FRONT AND 26 PSI IN REAR. FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT ROTOR SURFACES ARE SMOOTH AND WITHIN NORMAL SPECIFICATIONS. VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AS HAVING WARPED FRONT ROTORS. FRONT ROTORS APPEAR TO WARP PREMATURELY UNDER NORMAL LOAD. VEHICLE HAS HAD FRONT ROTORS REPAIRED AND OR REPLACED 3 TIMES. HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT FRONT ROTORS ARE NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE SIZE AND CAPACITY OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLES WITH THE SIX CYLINDER ENGINE OPTION DISPLACE MORE WEIGHT UPON THE FRONT AXLE CREATING EXCESSIVE HEAT AND WEAR ON UNDERSIZED DISC BRAKES. VEHICLE PRESENTED WITH 69,000 ORIGINAL MILES. *TR

2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR IGNITION SWITCH RECALL REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED FOR THE THIRD TIME. HE WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY. HE TRIED CRANKING THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. HE HAD THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL GARAGE. *JB THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, DATED SEPTEMBER 2014. UPDATED 10/15/14. *JB
THEY ARE NOW TELLING ME I NEED IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER AND HOUSING AND A PASS LOCK SENSOR . JUST FOR THIS THEY CHARGED ME $282.07 LABOR NO PARTS THEY DID NOTHING TO HELP THIS MATTER . PURCHASED THIS CHEVY MALBU IN 2004 WITH 31000 MILES ON IT GARAGED KEPT AND MAINTAIN RECORDS . BECAUSE OF ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION REPLACED CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOUR TIMES EACH TIME WAS NOT NECESSARY . SENSORS ISSUE AND MISSED DIAGNOSIS ON SERVICE AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM .ALL THEY DID FOR MY CAR WAS TO FILL IN THE SLOT ON MY KEY .NO HELP AT ALL I NEVER HAD HAD WEIGHT ON MY KEY RING . JUST THE KEY AND PLASTIC DOOR LOCK SENSOR. I KNOW THIS ALL STARTED TOO SHOW UP EIGHT YEARS AGO .I HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS WITH UNNECESSARY PARTS AND LABOR. A FEW MONTHS AGO MY 2002 CHEVY MALIBU WOULD NOT START. I RESET THE THEFT SYSTEM FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THEN ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT WOULD COME ON SPORADICALLY AND THEN EVENTUALLY STAY ON. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDS TO BE CHANGED OUT. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I HEARD ABOUT THE GM RECALL BUT FOR SOME REASON THE 2002 CHEVY MALIBU IS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE ONLINE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 84,500 ON IT. I TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF IT. I HAVE TO DRIVE TO COLLEGE AND I AM AFRAID OF BEING STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DUE TO THIS ISSUE. *TR

MY HANDICAPPED MOTHER HAS A 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT IGNITION RELATED ISSUES AS THOSE IN THE CURRENT MASSIVE GM RECALL. ON MORE THAN TWO OCCASIONS THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. THIS HAS RESULTED IN TWO SIGNIFICANT REPEAT REPAIRS, ONE IN 2010 AND ONE THIS WEEK. IN BOTH CASES THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP DESCRIBES THE ISSUE AS AN IGNITION PASS LOCK SENSOR THAT FAILS DUE TO KEY POSITIONING. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. LUCKILY THIS ISSUE HAS NOT RESULTED IN AN INJURY BUT EASILY COULD HAVE IN THE VERY CONGESTED METRO DC AREA THAT SHE LIVES IN. WHY IS THE MALIBU NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION AND RECALLS? *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT 35 MPH WHEN I WENT OVER A SMALL POT HOLE ON FATHER HURLEY BLVD. MY RIGHT KNEE SMASHED AGAINST MY KEY RING ON THE FRONT DASH AREA. THEE CAR LOST IMMEDIATE POWER. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR STEER MY VEHICLE. I HAD TO SLOWLY COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLES AROUND ME HAD A DIFFICULT TIME AVOIDING ME SINCE THIS EVENT HAPPENED AS I WAS APPROACHING A LANE MERGING WITH MINE AS THEY EXITED A MAJOR FREEWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PUT IT IN PARK. I NOTICED THAT THE KEY WAS NOT FULLY ENGAGED IN THE IGNITION SO I PUSHED IT ALL THE WAY BACK INTO THE IGNITION AND TURNED THE KEY OVER. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STARTED UP AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME SAFELY. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME AN EVENT LIKE THIS (WHERE MY KNEE HAS BUMPED UP AGAINST THE KEY RING AND THE CAR LOST POWER) HAS HAPPENED IN MY HISTORY OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED AND TAKEN CARE OF .TODAY 03/13/2014 TAKEN WIFE TO TRAIN STATION LIGHTS CAME ON ONCE MORE.IN THE PASS TWO YEARS INVESTED OVER $ 1500.00 IN PARTS AND LABOR AND STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYSTEMS. THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V047000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) OR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). I WANTED TO SUBMIT MY COMPLAINT AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER ABOUT MY FORMER CAR. IN DECEMBER OF 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD AFTER IT HAD RAINED. I LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. CAR WENT OFF THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL CAR THROUGH STEERING OR BRAKING. WE SLID DOWN THE HILL FISHTAILING. REAR END HIT SIGNS WHICH SENT ME INTO A SPIN AND SHATTERED THE REAR WINDOW. FRONT OF CAR WAS STOPPED BY SEVERAL TREES- CRACKING WINDSHIELD/CRUSHING FRONT END. DEPLOYING AIR BAGS. CAR WAS TOTALED. MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT HAD SEAT BELT BURN AND CUTS FROM GLASS. I HAD MULTIPLE BRUISES, CUTS, BURN FROM SEAT BELT. HIT HEAD AND BRIEFLY LOST CONSCIOUSNESS. IF WE ARE ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING, THE CAR REPEATEDLY SHUTS OFF ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, ALL GAUGES ARE MAXED OUT AND SPEED SAYS 60MPH. THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY THE WHOLE TIME THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN, BUT THE CAR IS STILL FUNCTIONAL AND STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. IF THE CAR SYSTEM COMES BACK ON, THE FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS EMPTY AND EVEN THE TRUNK POPS OPEN WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MANY REASONS. ON SEPT. 30TH 2013 WE HAD OUR 2003 CHEVY MALIBU WORKED ON AT JUST BRAKES ON 75 IN DALLAS. THEY RECOMMENDED A LONG LIST OF ITEMS COSTING AROUND $900 IN REPAIRS. WE DECIDED TO ONLY HAVE THE REAR BAKES DONE AT THIS TIME. ON JAN 16 OF THIS YEAR WE TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND FRONT BRAKES FIXED. OUR LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THE REARS WERE IMPROPERLY DONE AND WERE NOT WORKING AT ALL. THE PADS WERE INSTALLED BACKWARDS AND THE SPRINGS NOT ATTACHED. WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO JUST BRAKES IN RICHARDSON SO THEY COULD PROPERLY FIX AND REDO THE WORK WE HAD PAID FOR. THE MANAGER BOBBY WAS EXTREMELY RUDE, HOSTILE AND ARGUMENTATIVE. HE BASICALLY DENIED THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM AND TOLD US TO LEAVE. HERE ARE A FEW THINGS HE SAID TO US WHEN WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY DON'T WORK?. WE HAD TESTED THE PARKING BRAKE AND IT WOULDN'T HOLD THE CAR AT ALL. HE SAID, THE E-BRAKE ISN'T DESIGNED TO DO THAT. HOW DID YOU GET THE CAR HERE IF YOUR BRAKES DON'T WORK? I AM NOT GOING TO GUARANTEE ANYTHING. I AM NOT GOING TO REFUND ANY OF YOUR MONEY. WHY DON'T YOU JUST FIX THEM YOURSELF? ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP ARGUING WITH ME? YOU SHOULD JUST TAKE THE CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE. TIRED OF HIS CONDESCENDING BELLIGERENT AND INSULTING ATTITUDE, WE INSTEAD WENT TO THEIR LEMON AVE LOCATION DOWNTOWN. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL AND IMMEDIATELY FIXED THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND COURTEOUSLY. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AS WE HAD BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE WITH ONLY THE FRONT BRAKES WORKING FOR OVER 3 MONTHS. IT ALSO COST US LESS THEN HALF OF WHAT JUST BRAKES WANTED TO REPAIR THE FRONT END AT OUR LOCAL MECHANIC. BOBBY ORIGINALLY STATED ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WERE NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED THAT TURNED OUT WERE ACTUALLY NON-EXISTENT AND FRAUDULENT OVERCHARGES. *TR

MY HEATER/AC FAN SPEED CONTROL SWITCH HAS 5 SPEEDS ON IT. THEY ALL WORK UP TO NUMBER 4. WHEN I TURN IT ON UP TO 5 IT SHUTS OFF THE FAN MOTOR. IN 2006 I PURCHASED 4 NEW COOPER LIFELINER TOURING SLE TIRES FROM A LOCAL DEALER FOR A 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU. TIRES WERE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND TOUTED AS BEING TOP OF THE LINE. JUST AFTER A FEW YEARS OF SERVICE, I HAD TO FREQUENTLY ADD AIR TO THE TIRES. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY WORSE UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE FRONT AXLE. INSTEAD OF CHECKING AIR PRESSURE ONCE A MONTH, I HAD TO CHECK ABOUT EVERY 2 WEEKS. CAUSES THE CAR TO HANDLE POORLY ON THE ROAD, STEER HARDER, AND FUEL EFFICIENCY GOES DOWN. RETURNED TO PLACE OF PURCHASE, AND TIRES WERE REMOVED AND REINSTALLED TO RESEAL. TIRES WERE ALWAYS WELL MAINTAINED, ROTATED, CLEANED, GARAGED, AND PROPERLY AIRED TO THE SPECS OF THE VEHICLE. I EVEN AVOID POT HOLES. SHOP OWNER COMMENTED HOW NICE THEY WERE WEARING. AFTER ONLY ABOUT 35K MILES OF SERVICE AND 5/32 TREAD REMAINING I RETURNED TO THE SHOP FOR 2ND OR 3RD TIME AGAIN WITH SAME COMPLAINT OF HAVING TO ADD AIR TOO FREQUENTLY. TIRES WERE AGAIN REMOVED AND SHOP OWNER STATED THE TIRE NEEDED REPLACED DUE TO A SPLIT ON THE INSIDE AND POTENTIAL FOR COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE. SHOP OWNER STATED THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT WARRANTED DUE TO AGE. TIRES GAVE NO INDICATION OF IMMINENT FAILURE. TIRES ARE NOT DRY ROTTED, NO NOISE, NO REPAIRS, NO VIBRATION AND PLENTY OF TREAD DEPTH WITH AT LEAST 5/32 REMAINING. TIRES CONVENIENTLY JUST MADE IT PAST THE WARRANTY. THE SHOP HAD TO INSTALL MY TEMPORARY SPARE SO I COULD GET HOME. I FOUND IT A BIT UNUSUAL THAT THE SHOP OWNER WANTED TO KEEP THE BAD TIRE WITHOUT CHARGING ME DISPOSAL FEE. I STILL HAVE THE TIRES, AND CURIOUSLY ALL 4 HAVE HAIR LINE SPLITS ON THE INSIDES. YOU CAN'T SEE ANY INDICATION ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. IT HAS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE RIM TO SEE THE PROBLEM AREAS. NOT INCLUDING MY EXPERIENCES, I KNOW OF AT LEAST 3 OTHER INSTANCES OF COOPER LIFELINER TOURING TIRES HAVING AIR PRESSURE ISSUES. I CONSIDER THIS PREMATURE FAILURE AND POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING FROM THE MARKET AND CAME TO A STOP SIGN BUT HAD NO BRAKES. NO SIGN OF ME NOT HAVING ANY BRAKES BEFORE HAND.. I HAVE THE PICTURES OF THE LINES. WHEN HE LOOKED THE BRAKE AND GAS LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH. IF I HAD DRIVEN OVER THE MOUNTAIN TO GET HOME FROM THE DOCTORS I WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY. I ALSO WAS TOLD IF A CAR HAD HIT ME GAS LINE LIKE THAT IT COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE.YOU NEED TO CHECK GAS AND BRAKE LINE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. THE COST TO FIX THIS, AND I STILL DON'T HAVE MY CAR BACK IS $2550.00. I WANT SOMETHING DONE . I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS.
