I CAN'T GO A WEEK WITHOUT BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES BURNING TURN-SIGNAL BULBS. AFTER REPLACING THE BULBS NO MORE THAN A WEEK WILL GO BY AND THE BULB WILL TURN BLACK AND SOMETIMES BLOW UP INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT. RECENTLY THE BULBS ARE NOT BURNING OUT BUT WHAT SEEMS TO BE A BAD CONNECTION TO THE SOCKET, I WILL PRESS THE BULBS INTO THE SOCKET AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES THE TURN-SIGNALS WILL NOT WORK AGAIN. *TR
THE DRIVER SEAT ROCKS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND IT WILL NOT ADJUST. DEALER STATES THAT THE SEAT TRACK IS BUSTED AND WILL NEED TO BE WELDED TOGETHER OR REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, LUCKILY ON A CURVE. THE DRIVER SEAT BEGAN TO WOBBLE AND LEAN TO THE RIGHT AND BACK AND I THOUGHT THE MOTOR CAME OUT OF ALIGNMENT. WHEN I GOT HOME I BEGAN TO SEARCH TO LOCATE THE ISSUE. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT BAR OF THE SEAT HAD BROKEN OFF. I HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE DEFECT. THE ISSUE AND CONCERN I HAVE AT THIS TIME IS SAFETY, HOW CAN A SEATBELT SECURE ME IF THE SEAT IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE CAR DURING AN ACCIDENT. IF I WERE IN A STAND STILL ON A FREEWAY AND THE CAR BEHIND ME DID NOT STOP IN TIME AND HIT ME AT 45 MPH, WHAT WOULD THE RESULT BE? I PICTURE MY SEAT FINALLY SNAPPING OFF OF ITS FRAME AND ME AND THE SEAT FLYING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
I HAD TO BUY A TRANSMISSION FOR MY MALIBU AND NOW I AM RECEIVING RECALLS (MULTIPLE) # 14152 & #13036 FOR THE SAME CAR. HOWEVER, ON THE FREEWAY COMING HOME FROM TEMECULA, CA, SOUTH BOUND ON THE 15 HIGHWAY, MY TRANSMISSION WAS NOT ENGAGING. NO LOUD SOUNDS, OR EXCESS ACCELERATION, NOR TOO MUCH WEIGHT (DRIVER AND PASSENGER ONLY CARGO.) THE ENGINE WAS ON AND AS I ACCELERATED THE ENGINE WAS GOING BUT NOTHING WAS PROPELLING US FORWARD. I HAD TO BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION AND PAY FOR LABOR WHICH CAME OUT TO A HEFTY EXPENSE. WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE READ ONLINE AND FORUMS FOR THESE RECALLS I FEEL LIKE A REIMBURSEMENT SHOULD BE IN ORDER IF THE MANUFACTURE EVEN HAD A SLIGHT HESITATION OF A POSSIBLE DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE POWER STEERING OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE STEERING FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAD BECOME WORN UNEVENLY AND WAS SENDING SPORADIC SIGNALS, CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000. UPDATED 04/30/13*LJ THE CONSUMER PROVIDED A VIN. HOWEVER, IT WAS A FORD VIN, NOT A CHEVROLET VIN.
TURN SIGNALS BURNING SO HOT THEY EXPLODE, AND MELT NOT ONLY HOUSING FOR BULB, BUT ALSO THE SOCKET IN ORDER TO REPLACE BULB IS MELTED TOO. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS AS I HAVE FOUND OVER 200 OTHER COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE! *TR
I CONSIDER US LUCKY. WE WERE IN A WAL-MART PARKING LOT 25 MILES FROM HOME, AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I PLAYED WITH THE IGNITION OFF AND ON FOR HALF AN HOUR, AND A CONNECTION WAS MADE, AND THE CAR STARTED. I WAS CAREFUL TO KEEP IT RUNNING, AND MADE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE FUEL PUMP WAS MISSING. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY REPAIR SHOP, AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. COST $620.54. ON 2/7/2013 THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. I FEEL THAT THE INCIDENTS ARE CONNECTED. I THINK THE LOSS OF ELECTRICAL FEED TO THE FUEL PUMP HARMED THE PUMP, AND CAUSED IT TO FAIL. COST OF FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT WAS $635.11.THIS ADDS UP TO $1255.65 REPAIR BILLS WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNNECESSARY. I FEEL THERE ARE MORE CARS OUT THERE THAT GM SHOULD BE MADE TO RECALL AND REPAIR WITH BETTER PARTS. I WAS LUCKY! OTHERS WERE NOT, AND WE DON'T NEED MORE UNNECESSARY DEATHS ON OUR HIGHWAYS. *TR
THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION IN COLDER WEATHER. I CAN TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF BUT NOT REMOVE THE KEY UNLESS THE CAR IS DRIVEN FOR AT LEAST 20 MINS. AND IS WARM. THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR SHORT TRIPS WHERE I NEED TO PARK. DEALERSHIP REPLACED IGNITION CYLINDER & KEYS10/24/2013 BUT PROBLEM STILL THERE. IMPALAS HAS SAME PROBLEM - HAD SHIFT LOCK REPLACED 4/4/2014. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
PURCHASED CAR AND REALIZED THAT THE SEAT IS BROKEN. IT APPEARS THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRAME HAS BECOME UN-WELDED AT A JOINT ON THE RIGHT FRONT CROSSBAR CAUSING THE SEAT TO LEAN TOWARD PASSENGER SIDE AND WOBBLE IN REMAINING FRAME AS CAR IS DRIVEN. SHOCKING THAT THIS DEFECT IS COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE, THAT THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY AND EVEN FATALITY RELATED TO THE SHOCK OF THIS BREAKING AS ONE DRIVES IT DOWN THE ROAD AND THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH FROM THE ALARMING NATURE OF THIS DEFECT. TOOK THIS TO THE LOCAL CAR REPAIR SHOP TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIX IT, THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE, AND RECOMMENDED WE GO TO A JUNK YARD TO PURCHASE A NEW FRAME. AFTER SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS SAME SIDE/POSITION, IT SEEMS A RECALL TO FIX THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE IN ORDER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING INTO A PARKING LOT AT THE END OF MY COMMUTE WHEN AN ALARM WENT OF AND A "POWER STEERING" MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY CONSOLE. IMMEDIATELY MY POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED AND I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR 3 TIMES BEFORE THE POWER STEERING WAS ENABLED AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN MY CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT. *TR
STEERING WAS CLUNKING AND MAKING OTHER NOISES THAT MADE ME QUESTION MY SAFETY. TOOK TO DEALER AND HAD THE REPAIR DONE UNDER EXTENDED 10 YEAR/150,000 MILE WARRANTY WITH $49.50 AS MY DEDUCTIBLE. CAR IS NOW MAKING SAME NOISES 18 MONTHS LATER. AWAITING MY CHEVY DEALER TO GET STEERING PUMP IN STOCK SO AS TO GET REPAIRS DONE AND APPLY FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR INITIAL REPAIR DUE TO RECALL. *TR
THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER WORK IN THE PARKING LOT. ARRANGED A RIDE HOME AND DID SOME RESEARCH. WENT BACK TO THE VEHICLE AND GOT IT STARTED WITH SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO RESET THE PASSLOCK SYSTEM (SECURITY LIGHT ON DASH WAS ON). THE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE WON'T START EVEN AFTER GOING THROUGH THE RESET PROCEDURE SEVERAL TIMES. THIS PROBLEM CAN LEAVE ONE STRANDED ANYPLACE AT ANYTIME. WE LIVE IN MININESOTA AND THAT CAN BE A REAL PROBLEM AT -20 DEG. AFTER READING ABOUT MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, I WAS MOTIVATED TO SHARE THIS IN HOPES OF INITIATING A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY SORT OF PATTERN TO IT, THE ANTI-THEFT PASSLOCK SYSTEM ON MY 2005 MALIBU RANDOMLY IS TRIGGERED AND PREVENTS MY CAR ENGINE FROM STARTING UP, LEAVING ME STRANDED. I MUST PERFORM 10-MINUTE RESET PROCEDURE WITH KEY IN ON POSITION. HAS LEFT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS MANY TIMES. HAPPENS EVERY 3-4 TIMES I START THE CAR - NO WAY TO PREDICT IT. MECHANICS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG. I HAVE NO OTHER KEYS OR HEAVY ITEMS ON MY KEY RING. SOMETIMES CAR STARTS FINE, OTHER TIMES IT WON'T. STARTED IN 2013 AND BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF EVER SINCE. GOOGLED AND MANY OWNERS ARE HAVING EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,188. BOTH THE FRONT TURN SIGNAL AMBER BULB HOUSING KEEPS MELTING TO THE BULB AND ALSO THE LIGHT SOCKETS , OEM AND AFTER MARKET ONES. *TR
TODAY WE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND TRUED TO TURN AND HEARD A POPPING NOISE, AND THEN LACK OF STEERING. THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED BUT THE WHEELS DID NOT. HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AT A COST OF $88.00 AND TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. THE DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BOLT BROKE AND ALSO THE AIRBAG SENSOR. THE TOTAL COST OF THIS REPAIR IS: $88.00 FOR THE TOW TRUCK, $1500.00 FOR THE REPAIR AND 2 1/2 DAYS WITHOUT THE CAR. WE HAVE HAD THIS POPPING NOISE FOR A WHILE AND NO ONE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. SOME DEALERS SAID WE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM, OTHERS SAID IT JUST NEEDED GREASED. WE CHOSE TO GREASE IT AND THE NOISE WENT AWAY FOR A WHILE.SO FAR I HAVE REPLACED THE POWER STEERING MOTOR, WHICH GM REIMBURSED ME FOR ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER I HAD IT REPAIRED. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN A GOOD CAR EXCEPT FOR THESE CONSTANT PROBLEMS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE SO GM WILL FIX THESE ISSUES. *TR

I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT PART, BUT WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND CAR WENT FROM A FUEL TANK OF GAS TO SHOWING NONE. WHICH I KNOW WASN'T THE CASE AS I HAD JUST STOPPED AND FILLED UP. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF RECALLS WITH FUEL PUMPS AND IGNITION SWITCHES WHICH I ALSO HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH. I CAN GO TO TURN MY KEY BUT NEED TO REALLY PUSH HARD ON MY GAS TO GET IT GOING. THE CAR HAS SHUTOFF ON MY WHILE DRIVING ONCE BUT I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR
THE IGNITION SWITCH TO START THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE. THE CYLINDER DOES NOT TURN WITH THE KEY AT THE FIRST TRY NOR THE SECOND TRY. *TR
MY 2005 MALIBU MAXX INDICATED THAT A TURN SIGNAL BULB WAS OUT AND WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE THE BULB I NOTICED, NOT ONLY THAT THE BULB ITSELF WAS SIGNIFICANTLY BURNED AT THE SOCKET, BUT ALSO THAT THE BLINKER PLASTIC WAS SUBSTANTIALLY MELTED. I CHECKED THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR AND EVEN THOUGH THAT BULB IS STILL FUNCTIONING, THE PLASTIC BLINKER HOUSING IS STARTING TO MELT ON THAT SIDE AS WELL. CLEARLY THE BULBS ARE BURNING WAY TO HOT TO BE MELTING THE PLASTIC HOUSING AND I WOULD ASSUME SINCE THE BULB ITSELF WAS BURNED THAT THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE OF BOTH POTENTIAL FIRE RISK AND NOW WATER DAMAGE SINCE THE BLINKER HOUSING IS COMPROMISED. *TR
IT SEEMS THAT I HAVE A RECALL PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING, I THINK IT HAS TO DEAL WITH THE TORQUE BECAUSE IT ALWAYS WANTS TO STEER TO THE RIGHT AND I HAVE TO KEEP PULLING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT. IF THE CAR IS ON A LIFT WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE TIRES, AS SOON AS THE CAR IS STARTED, THE WHEELS TURN HARD RIGHT WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS ON ICY AND WET ROADS. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AND PERFORMED A FUEL CLEANING BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11E009000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY CARS HEADLIGHTS ARE DIM AT NIGHT AND TAKE A WHILE TO GET BRIGHTER EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HAD THE BULB REPLACED AND THE LIGHTING COMPONENTS CHECKED OUT. THE WINDOWS WON'T ROLL DOWN FROM ANY SIDE OF THE CAR, A RECURRENCE FROM TWO YEARS AGO. ALSO MY DOORS WON'T UNLOCK FROM THE AUTO-UNLOCK BUTTON THAT SITS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS OF MY CHEVROLET CAR OWNERSHIP. *TR
DRIVING AWAY FROM WORK IN A PARKING LOT AND THE FRONT RIGHT SEAT OF THE DRIVER SEAT POPPED AND SAGGED ABOUT 3 INCHES DOWN, SHOVING THE SEAT SIDEWAYS. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK IT AND FOUND THAT A PIPE RUNNING THE FRONT OF THE SEAT HAD SHEERED AWAY ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH HEARD A LOUD POP ON THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT AND THE SEAT NOW TILTS TO THE RIGHT AND IS UNSAFE TO BE SITTING IN SEAT. THE SEAT BROKE AT THE WELDING BRACKET. *TR
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS PULLING UP TO THE LIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION OF GUM SPRINGS ROAD AND LEE JACKSON HIGHWAY IN ALDIE, VA, AND "POWER STEERING" CAME ACROSS MY RADIO AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. *TR
THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN PERSISTENT SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. THE AIR BAG LIGHT JUST CAME ON AT RANDOM AND THEN WENT OFF AFTER BEING RESET. AFTER A WHILE, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THE CLOCK SPRING WAS BROKE. HOW? I DO NOT KNOW. I HAVE JUST DEALT WITH IT SINCE ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS HAVE BEEN WORKING. ANOTHER ALMOST 500 DOLLAR REPAIR TO A CAR THAT'S VALUE IS NOT WORTH TRADING IN AT THIS POINT. IT HAS BEEN A GREAT AND RELIABLE CAR OTHERWISE. I STARTED TO SMELL GAS AFTER PARKING MY CAR IN GARAGE ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO. CHANGED FUEL CAP, DIDN'T WORK. THE GAS SMELL BECAME MORE AND MORE STRONG AFTER FEW WEEKS. DID SOME SEARCH AND FOUND IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM OF FUEL PUMP LEAK IN 2004-2006 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX. THE HIGH PRESSURE LINE BREAKS AND THE OWNERS HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP COMPLETELY, WHICH COSTS MORE THAN $600. THERE WAS A RECALL OF FUEL PUMP BUT NOT FOR THE ORIGINAL ONE. GM/CHEVY SHOULD RECALL THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP, IT'S VERY DANGEROUS SINCE IT'S EASY TO CATCH FIRE AND VERY BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT!!! *TR

THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 146,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 146,695.
"SERVICE AIR BAG" WARNING MESSAGE ON RADIO CONSOLE: 2 CHIMES, AND TEXT: "SERVICE AIR BAG" PROBLEM OCCURS APPROX. 50% OF TIME. USUALLY OCCURS A FEW MINUTES AFTER STARTING AND DRIVING AND ALSO USUALLY OCCURS ONLY ONCE PER DRIVE CYCLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 25 ? 45 AND MAKING A LEFT TURN OR CHANGING LANES TO THE LEFT THE STEERING WHEEL LOSES IT POWER STEERING. THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE STEERED UNLESS YOU ARE A POWER LIFTER AT THAT POINT. THIS IS MY MOM?S ONLY VEHICLE AND SHE IS 77 AND HAD CARPAL TUNNEL SURGERY ON BOTH HER WRISTS, SO I DOUBT SHE WILL BE ABLE TO STEER AT ALL. SO IF GM SAYS IT?S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE CAR CAN STILL BE STEERED, THEY ARE WRONG. THERE HAS BEEN ?SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENTS? FOR THIS ISSUE ON THE 2006 MODELS IN UNITED STATES AND GM HAS ACTUAL RECALLS FOR 67,000 VEHICLES IN CANADA FOR THE SAME THING.
