AROUND JUNE 2012 I STARTED SMELLING FUEL WHEN I PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. I THOUGHT I MAY HAVE OVER FILLED. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND I TOOK THE CAR INTO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE PLASTIC LINE FROM THE FUEL PUMP HAD CRACKED CAUSING THE LEAK OF FUEL. I CHECKED FOR A RECALL AND FOUND THERE WAS ONE BUT THE MAXX WAS NOT ON THE LIST. I DO BELIEVE THIS RECALL INCLUDED A PONTIAC WITH THE SAME FUEL PUMP. SINCE I HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE ARIZONA HEAT IN PHOENIX THE MAXX SHOULD BE INCLUDED DUE TO THE MILEAGE AND THE YEAR. THE SUPPORT BRACKET WELDED TO THE SEAT FRAME BROKE ON THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT, CAUSING THE SEAT TO LEAN TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE SEAT CAN NOT RAISE UP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DRIVER SEAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU CLASSIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A REGULAR BASIS AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RESET THE ANTI-THEFT LIGHT; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND STATED THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO START SINCE THE LAST FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
I WAS AT A STOP SIGN WENT TO PRESS GAS PEDAL TO TURN ONTO ROAD AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON NOR DID IT SHOW ANY CODES. GOT OUT OF CAR POPPED TRUNK PULLED RELAY FUSE OUT PUT IT BACK IN AND IT CRANKED UP,THEN ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK,GOING ABOUT 25 MPH AND IT JUST SHUT DOWN AGAIN,I REPEATED PULLING OUT RELAY FUSE AND PUT IT BACK IN THEN WAITED A MINUTE THEN IT CRANKED AND I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME. *TR
WHEN I FILLED UP THE TANK, AND WOULD DRIVE AWHILE,THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ LOW FUEL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE GAS CAP. HOWEVER, I REPLACED THAT AND IT STILL HAPPENED. HOW IT IS TO THE POINT, WHERE THE FUEL GAUGE EITHER READS FULL OR STAYS AT LOW FUEL. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE ENGINE LIGHT TO STAY ON. MY SERVICE TECH HAS ADVISED ME THAT THIS IS A ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE MODEL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
DURING A FREEWAY EXIT DURING A DECELERATING 35MPH RIGHT TURN, THE POWER STEERING STOP OPERATING. CONTINUED ON HOME FOR 3 BLOCKS WITHOUT ANY POWER TO STEERING SYSTEM. NEXT DAY, SYSTEM WORK GOOD. SCARY ! ! GOOGLE PROBLEM FOR INFO AND FOUND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NO 'FIX' AVAILABLE. ANYWAY YOU COULD SHED SOME HELP OR INFORMATION ON THIS SCARY PROBLEM? *JS
THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY TIGHT FOR ABOUT 3 MINS. AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT FLASHED ON THE RADIO PANEL. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOOSING UP IT WAS TOO LOOSE. THE NEXT DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WENT AND HAD A MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND HE SAID THAT IT WAS COMING UP AS AN ELECTRONIC STEERING FAILURE. *JS
THE WARNING CHIME WILL SOUND, THEN I SOMETIMES GET A WARNING NOTE ACROSS THE DASHBOARD STATING "POWER STEERING" & THEN FOR A BRIEF MOMENT I WILL HAVE TROUBLE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL; ONE TIME WHEN THIS HAPPENED ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED ACROSS THE DASHBOARD AND I LOST POWER FOR A SECOND & THEN EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL UNTIL SEVERAL MILES LATER WHEN THE CHIMING CAME ON AGAIN; I PAID THE CHEVY DEALER TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING IN THE SUMMER OF 2012 BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. I DON'T WANT ANY REFUND, I JUST WANT THE CAR TO OPERATE RELIABLY & SAFELY. *TR
DRIVER SEAT IS BROKEN. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT THAT CAUSED IT TO BREAK. IT IS CROOKED AND SOMETIMES MOVES WHILE DRIVING, WHICH HAS CAUSED MY FOOTING TO SLIP OFF THE BRAKE/GAS. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU LT MODEL WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT WELD THAT HOLDS THE TOP SEAT FRAME TO THE LOWER SEAT FRAME. THE WELD THAT'S HOLDS THEM TOGETHER BROKE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN. THE SEAT ONLY HAS ONE WELD ON THE LOWER RIGHT BRAKET, BUT THE LEFT LOWER BRAKET HAS TWO WELDS ONE ON EACH SIDE. THIS PROBLEM HAPPEN AT 55,000 AND 88,000 MILES. I FEEL THAT THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS ADDRESS. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILS WHEN ACCELERATING, ESPECIALLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. "POWER STEERING FAILURE" FLASHES ON THE CONSOLE AND CHIMES SOUND. FAILURE REQUIRES CAR TO BE STEERED USING BODILY FORCE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, AND HAS ALMOST RESULTED IN NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. POWER STEERING TURNS BACK ON ABOUT 1/2 SECOND AFTER RELEASING THE GAS PEDAL. DOES NOT OCCUR WITH ANY RELATIVE CONSISTENCY TO WARRANT TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING ANY RELEVANT RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB BURNS OUT FREQUENTLY. IT ALSO WILL WORK ONE DAY AND SUDDENLY STOP WORKING THE NEXT DAY, THEN WORK AGAIN LATER WITHOUT HAVING DONE ANY INTERVENTION AT ALL. IF I WIGGLE THE BULB JUST RIGHT WITHIN THE SOCKET, I CAN GET IT TO WORK. SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS RUNNING INTO A POTHOLE CAN MAKE THE BULB UNIT WORK OR CEASE WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, A CHIME SOUNDED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IMMEDIATELY, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE POWER STEERING COLUMN AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, HE NOTICED THAT A HOLE WAS MELTED INTO THE AMBER TURN SIGNAL HEADLIGHT LENS, EXPOSING THE HOUSING UNIT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULBS (LEFT AND RIGHT) HAVE MELTED THE PLASTIC HOUSING SURROUNDING THEM. BULBS BURNOUT EASILY. EVIDENCE OF MELTED PLASTIC IS A CONCERN FOR OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. *TR
THE POWER SEAT DROPPED ON THE RIGHT SIDE AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHARP LEFT HAND TURN. THE SUDDEN DROP CAUSED ME TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I LOOKED UNDER THE SEAT AND THE SUPPORT BAR THAT RUNS ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE SEAT HAD BROKEN AT THE WELD. IT LOOKS LIKE A TOP OF A TIN CAN PEELED BACK. I AM NOT A BIG PERSON. I WEIGH AROUND 230LBS. I THINK THAT THE WELD WAS BAD WHEN IT LEFT THE FACTORY. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SOMETHING SO SIMPLE COULD'VE COST ME AND MY FAMILY OUR LIVES. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED AT THIS POINT SO I HAD TO WEDGE A PIECE OF WOOD UNDER IT UNTIL I CAN. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ALREADY ON THIS CAR, AND IT STILL IS NOT RIGHT. THE POWER STEERING WILL BE GONE NO MATTER THE TEMPERATURE, BUT THEN COMES RIGHT BACK. THE BRAKES ARE ALWAYS GOING BAD ON IT, I HAVE REPLACED THEM SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN THE 25K MILES OF OWNING THE CAR. THE DRIVER SEAT LEANS TO THE LEFT AND DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS NOT NORMAL UNTIL AFTER READING REPORTS OF IT BEING A PROBLEM IN THIS CAR. *KB

AS I WAS DRIVING MY MALIBU AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR AND NEGOTIATING A SLIGHT CURVE THE DRIVERS SEAT QUICKLY TILTED TO THE RIGHT AND BECAME UNHINGED. THE ENTIRE DRIVERS SEAT IS NOW NOT ATTACHED TO THE "FRAME" ON THE BOTTOM-WHICH I AM TOLD NEEDS TO BE "REWELDED". I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE TURN SIGNALS CONTINUED TO BURN OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THE TURN SIGNAL BULBS WOULD FAIL IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEY WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE TEST RESULTS SHOWED A DEFECTIVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,987. UPDATED 9/13/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE LACK OF THE FRONT TURN SIGNALS FAILED TO WARN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THAT HE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING AND COULD RESULT IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. TURNING LEFT AT ABOUT 5 MPH, POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND MADE IT HARD TO TURN THE CORNER, ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON RADIO DISPLAY AND BUZZER WENT OFF. PULLED INTO GAS STATION AND RESTARTED ENGINE. PROBLEM WENT AWAY. WAITING FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. JUDGING BY THE SAME COMPLAINT FROM OTHERS, THIS WILL BY MY LAST GM. *TR
AS OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, THE STEERING ALARM LIGHT WENT OFF IN MY MALIBU. I HAVE SEEN THAT OTHER MALIBU IN MY CARS VIN RANGE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AS ISSUED BY A GM WARNING. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND GM SHOULD STAND BEHIND YOUR VEHICLE AS I COULD NOT ALLOW MY CHILD TO DRIVE TO CO WITH THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE STEERING WOULD GO OUT. WHILE I DID NOT GET TO THE POINT WHERE WE HAD STEERING FAILURE, THE MOTOR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MAJOR ISSUE AS DID THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL WHICH APPEARS TO BE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. THIS CAR WOULD HAVE STEERING FAILURE IF WE DID NOT GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REPLACE THE MOTOR AND STEERING COLUMN. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON WITH NO CONTACT WITH BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. THIS HAS CAUSED NUMEROUS 'ROAD RAGE' INCIDENTS AND NEAR-MISS REAR-END COLLISIONS. *TR

IN ADDITION, AFTER SWITCHING OFF THE VEHICLE, THE KEY WOULD GET STUCK AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. DRIVERS SIDE FRONT POWER SEAT BROKE CAUSING SEAT TO BOUNCE , LEANS TO THE RIGHT REAR ALSO WHEN HEIGHT ADJUSTED ONLY LEFT SIDE GOES UP . WELD LET GO WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH ALOT OF OTHER MALIBU PURCHASERS .THIS IS A SERIOUS MANUFACTORING DEFFECT IN THE WELDS AND FRAME CONSTRUCTION OF THESE FRONT SEATS. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS IN THIS VEHICLE. NEVER MIND IF YOU HIT SOME OTHER VEHICLE OR PERSONS DURING THIS SEAT FAILURE . I DONT BELEIVE GM WILL NOT PUT A RECALL OUT ON THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TOYOTA PUT AN ENTIRE FRAME ON MY TRUCK NO QUESTIONS MAY BE I SHOULD BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA INSTEAD .
THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT IS BROKEN. IT'S BEEN SLOWLY STARTING TO TILT BACK AND TO THE RIGHT AND FINALLY SNAPPED. IN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT APPEARS IT IS VERY COMMON WITH THE CHEVY MALIBU AND ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS A BROKEN DRIVERS SEAT WILL NOT WORK AS INTENDED IN A CRASH. THE SEAT TILTS TO THE RIGHT NOW AND BOUNCES WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS, SO BEING A SAFETY CONCERN IT'S ALSO VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE RECALL SITUATION FOR THE MALIBU SEAT AND THE DEALER SHOULD NOT BE PROFITING OFF A DESIGN FLAW. *KB
POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING. HERE IN 2013, WITH 175000 MILES, GM WILL NOT HONOR THEIR "SERVICE POLICY" , DUE TO MILES! IT ONLY COVERED UP TO 150000 MILES! ABSURD! *TR
THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE POWER STEERING NOTE IN THE DASHBOARD (RADIO DISPLAY) Y WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID ME, THE POWER STEERING IS OK, I KEEP DRIVING THE CAR AND THE SIGN FOR POWER STEERING CONTINUED ON THE DASHBOARD AND I WENT TO ANOTHER EXPERT MECHANIC AND HE SAIDTO ME IF IT CONTINUE AND THE DRIVING AND CONTROL THE CAR BECAME SO HARD, THE PROCEDURE TO FIX IS JUST STOP THE ENGINE FOR A WHILE AND START AGAIN, THIS CONDUCT I FOLLOWED FOR A LONG TIME BUT RECIENTLY BECAME SO HARD AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE PROBLEM NOW IS RANDOM, SOME TIME EVERY FEW SECONDS OR EVERY HOUR OR A FEW TIME, SOME TIME AT THE MOMENT I TURNED VERY I WAS VERY CLOSE TO CRASH AGAINST OTHER VEHICLES AND DRIVING IN THE EXPRESS WAY I-95 FOR FORT LAUDERDALE HEADING SOUTH, I NEEDED TO BRAKE ABRUPTLY BECAUSE A LANDSCAPING TRAILER LEAVE GARDEN TOOL AND TRESS, MY VEHICLE TURNED WILD AND OUT CONTROL BETWEEN THE OTHER VEHICULE, ONLY GOD SAVED ME. I WENT TO THE OTHER MECHANIC AND SAID ME THAT IS A RECALL FOR GM AND I WENT TO LOCAL ROGER DEAN GM IN WEST PALM BEACH AND THEY SAID ME THAT FIX IT MATTER I NEED TO PAY, AFTER A FRIEND OF MINE SENT TO ME A WEBSITE WHERE I FOUND THE RECALL FOR POWER STEERING IN MY CHEVY MALIBU 2005. REALLY I APRECIATE IF YOU HELP BECAUSE ROGER DEAN THE LOCAL GM DEALER IN WEST PALM BEACH REJECTED MY CASE. *JS

THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ALL THE DOOR LOCKS UNLOCK AND LOCK WITH IN DRIVING POSITION FOLLOWED BY A BEEP IT DOES THIS CONSTANTLY. I BELIEVE IS VERY UNSAFE WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. ISSUE WITH THE GAS GAUGE GOING CRAZY, GOES FROM FULL TO EMPTY SO YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE GAS IS GOING TO RUN OUT. ALSO ISSUES WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND OTHER BULBS BEING BLOWN. ALL SEEMS LIKE SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES BUT NOT SURE. *TR
DING SOUND AND THEN POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD POWER STEERING SENSOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY PROCLAIM THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS YET THERE IS A LETTER THAT WAS SENT OUT IN 2007 EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2009. I AM TOLD THE STEERING COLUMN MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. *KB

AS A RESULT, THE SEAT BEGAN WOBBLING FORWARD ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT ASSEMBLY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

WAS DOING 40MPH POWER STEERING FAILED SPUN OUT HIT A WALL ENDED UP FACING THE WRONG WAY ON ONE WAY HIGHWAY.. I HAVE HAD SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE 2005 MALIBU IT SHOULD BE PULLED OFF THE ROAD FOR SURE, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE STRUTS 2 TIMES NOW AND ABOUT TO REPLACE MY 2ND FUEL PUMP, MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT ON MANY OCCASIONS, HAS LEFT ME STRANDED MANY OTHER OCCASIONS. FOR AS MUCH MONEY AS I HAVE SPENT TO BUY THE CAR USED IN 2009 WITH 22000 MILES ON IT COST US 10500$ WE HAVE EASILY SPENT OVER THAT IN REPAIRING IT, THE WORST INVESTMENT I HAVE EVER MADE.. THE LIGHTING CONSTANTLY BURNS OUT THE BLINKERS AND HEADLIGHTS FAIL CONSTANTLY, THE GAS CAP THREADS EXPAND AND OR SHRINK AND CAUSES THE CAP TO EITHER BE IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE OR IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCK DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER. I ALSO HAVE HAD ANTI THEFT SECURITY LOCK OUT MANY TIMES WHERE THE CAR STALLS AND LOCKS ME OUT OF USING IT. POWER STEERING FAILED, FUEL WOULD NOT PUMP PROPERLY INTO THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED IMPROPER READINGS, AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERATIVE.MY REMOTE KEYS FAIL CONSTANTLY AS WELL, ALIGNMENT WHICH MAKES THE CAR SHAKE/VIBRATE AT SPEEDS 60+ MY CD PLAYER DOES NOT WORK EITHER I HAD DEALERSHIP REPAIR IT BEFORE WARRANTY IT WOULD LOCK THE DISC IN THE PLAYER AFTER WARRANTY PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN,, MY SEAT WARMERS GET STUCK ON IT WAS A CONSTANT PROBLEM EVEN BEFORE WARRANTY WAS DONE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD FIX IT BUT NOW NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULDN'T REPAIR IT OR THE CD PLAYER AGAIN EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN OBVIOUS COMPLAINT BEFORE THE END OF THE WARRANTY WELL WE ARE CAR SHOPPING NOW FOR 2 NEW CARS AND I PROMISE YOU I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM/CHEVY EVER AGAIN WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE WORST CARS AND TO DANGEROUS TO RECONSIDER. *TR
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS BURNED OUT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULB BUT THE HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT LATER NOTICED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT WIRES WERE MELTED INTO THE BULB SOCKET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEAD LAMP ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE LENSES THREE TIMES IN THE LAST NINE MONTHS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CONNECTION FOR THE LIGHT BULBS WERE BURNED OUT BUT THE LIGHT ITSELF CONTINUED WORKING. THE FUSE FOR THE LIGHT BULB HAD NOT FAILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
SOMETHING BROKE UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. IT NOW LEANS TO THE RIGHT. IT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP. IT CAUSES STRAIN ON MY BACK TO DRIVE. I HAVE TO LEAN ALL THE WAY TO THE DOOR FOR THE SEAT TO BE UTILIZED. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THE METAL BRACKET SNAPPED AND NEEDED TO BE WELDED TOGETHER OR THE SEAT REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO START AFTER DRIVING AND THEN PARKING. FIRST TIME HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO S REPAIR SHOP. THEY REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND INSTALLED A NEW FUEL FILTER. VEHICLE STILL DID NOT START. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE WEB. I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS . I FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE VEHICLE ANTI- THEFT DEVICE. IT MALFUNCTIONS AND SHUTS THE FUEL INJECTORS DOWN. I FOUND A FIX ON THE WEB, YOU HAVE TO TURN THE KEY ON FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES UNTIL THE VEHICLE THEFT LIGHT QUITS BLINKING TURN KEY TO THE OFF POSITION REMOVE THE KEY WAIT 1 TO 2 MINUTES AND THEN START VEHICLE IT WORKS. THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWO MORE TIMES. I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND INQUIRED TO SEE IF THEY HAD HEARD OR HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2002 AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RE-CALL FOR THE PROBLEM. I CALLED CHEVROLET AND INFORMED THEM OF THE PROBLEM. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP GM HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR YEARS. AND THEY HAVE NOT DONE A THING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ACCORDING IT WILL COST $500.00 TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THIS IN MY OPINION IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. 2005 MALIBU MAXX BEGAN PULLING TO THE RIGHT, THEN A COUPLE MONTHS LATER THE POWER STEERING NOTIFICATION STARTING BEEPING ON THE DASH DISPLAY, THE STEERING IS TIGHT, SOMETIMES HARD TO TURN. FOUND OUT THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRONIC AND THERE IS NO FLUID TO ADD. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 75,000 MILES ON IT. I AM FEARFUL FOR MY SAFETY AND OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE APPEARING TO GET WORSE, AND WITHOUT WARNING, ITS FINE FOR 10 MILES THEN STARTS BEEPING AT YOU, ETC. *TR
UPON ATTEMPTING TO START MY VEHICLE AS ALWAYS I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I HAD AN ANTI THEFT LIGHT COME ON AS WELL. I WAITED, TRIED AGAIN NO LUCK. TO HELP THINGS OUT MY CELL PHONE WAS DEAD AND I COULD NOT CALL ANYONE. I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET BACK INTO MY WORK WHICH HAS HIGH SECURITY, AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTACT MY HUSBAND WHO EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO TELL ME HOW TO BYPASS THIS ISSUE. SO I WENT BACK OUT AND TRIED IT AND AFTER 10 MIN OF SITTING IN MY COLD CAR IN A DARK PARKING LOT ALONE I WAS ABLE TO START MY VEHICLE. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I FINALLY MADE IT HOME AN HOUR AND A HALF AFTER I WAS OFF WORK BUT WHAT A SCARY AND COULD HAVE BEEN EXPENSIVE ISSUE TO HAVE. *TR

AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL COMES ON AND OFF. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE SERVICED. AUTHORIZED DEALER INFORMED ME THAT PARTS WERE MODIFIED SINCE THE ORIGINAL PARTS WERE UNSERVICEABLE. AIRBAG COIL BRACKET AND SWITCH WERE MODIFIED AND INSTALLED. *TR
