2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. STEERING WHEEL FROZE WHILE DRIVING. *TA THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE STEERING FROZE, SHE PANICKED AND HIT THE SIDE OF A CURB, WITH THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND THE SHE HIT A POLE. THE STEERING MALFUNCTION OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 10 MPH WHEN SEAT WELD ON RIGHT SIDE BROKE AND DETACHED FROM RAIL. THERE'S NOW NOTHING HOLDING THE SEAT IN PLACE ON THAT SIDE SO IT WOBBLES UP AND DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE ABS WAS ACTIVATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AND NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN PROVIDED WAS INCORRECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
ON 11/21, I TOOK MY 2005 MALIBU TO THE GM DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL ON THE "STEERING" TO REPLACE THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND DRIVING FOR AWHILE, I NOTICED MY CAR WOULD PARTIALLY STALL AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I GOT HOME AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK THE NEXT DAY, BUT I HAD TO WORK. TODAY, 11/26 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE GM DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CAR CONTINUES TO PARTIALLY STALL AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. I INFORMED ONE OF THE REPS WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND THAT I HAD NO SIGNS OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. I WAS TOLD THEY NEVER WENT UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR DURING THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. IT WAS ALL DONE AT THE STEERING COLUMN; THAT THIS ISSUE IS SOMETHING THAT JUST HAPPENS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AT ALL. HE INFORMED ME THAT OTHER FOLKS HAVE COME IN WITH THE SAME ISSUE...NOT SURE IF THIS WAS AFTER THEY ALSO HAD THE RECALL DONE. I TRIED TELLING THE SERVICE DEPT., I HAD NO OTHER ISSUES BEFORE BRINGING MY CAR TO THEM FOR THE RECALL, BUT INSTEAD WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT THEIR FAULT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR WHATEVER IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I DIDN'T LET THEM TOUCH IT AGAIN. I WILL TAKE IT TO MY MECHANIC, WHO I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH AFTER WORKING ON MY CAR. I NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2011 FOR COMPONENT(S): FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11E009000 AND NEVER RECEIVED THIS RECALL. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM CAR MAX IN 2011. JUST SPECULATING IF THIS MAY BE MY PROBLEM. I ALSO NEVER RECEIVED THE RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 COMPONENT(S): POWER TRAIN. MORE WORK TO DO TO FIND THE ANSWERS. *TR
I HAD THE RECALL OF THE SENSOR ON THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ACCOMPLISHED IN OCTOBER. I HAVE HAD THE LOSS OF PS THREE TIMES SINCE UPON ACCELERATION AND THE PROBLEM IS WORSE NOW THAN BEFORE THE RECALL. THE DEALER INDICATES THE PROBLEM NOW IS THE VOLTAGE SPIKES PER TSB 08-02-32-005. THIS TSB INDICATES A DEFECTIVE COIL CAUSES VOLTAGE SPIKES IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THEREBY DAMAGING THE ELECTRIC PS MOTOR/MODULE. THE CODES C0900, B1325, AND C0176 WERE SET. I SPOKE WITH GM WITH NO AVAIL. THERE IS A TSB 10183 WHICH EXTENDS THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS AND 100,000 MILES. THIS IS WITH A LOSS OF SIGNAL FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THIS TSB. MY CONTENTION IS A LOSS OF PS BY ANY CAUSE IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GM SHOULD RECALL AND FIX IT. THE TSB ADMITS THE COIL IS DEFECTIVE AS THE TSB REQUIRES A REPLACEMENT WITH A NEW ENHANCED COIL AND A GROUND STRAP ADDED TO THE COIL. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY GM. ANY VEHICLE WITH THIS DEFECTIVE COIL CAN HAVE THE ELECTRIC PS DAMAGED AT ANY MOMENT WITHOUT KNOWING THAT THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED. AGAIN, I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT IS THE POINT OF GM REPLACING THE SENSOR BECAUSE OF A SAFETY ISSUE AND WILL NOT CORRECT OTHER ISSUES THAT CAUSE THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. WHY WOULD ONE FAULT BE MORE OF AN ISSUE THAN ANOTHER CAUSING THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE? I HAVE ORDERED THE NEW COIL AND RELATED PARTS TO CORRECT THE VOLTAGE SPIKES WHICH COULD DAMAGE OTHER PARTS. THAT STILL LEAVES THE MOTOR/MODULE WHICH THE DEALER INDICATES NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
PASSENGER FRONT TURN SIGNAL BULB AND ELCTRICAL UNIT MELTED. TURN SIGNAL ON DASH BLINKING FAST. CHANGED TO NEW BULB, THOUGHT BULB WAS BAD, REPLACED. WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS AND IT OCCURRED BULB HAD BLOWN OUT. REPLACED AGAIN.. THIS TIME IT HAG GONE OUT AND EVERYTHINGS MELTED.. CONTACTED GM, HAVE A INCIDENT NUMBER. STATED THEY'LL SPEAK WITH DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO SEE IF THEYLL COVER A PORTION OF REPAIR. *TR

CONSUMERS STATED THAT THEY TRIED TO GET CAR FIX DUE TO STEERING RECALL, BUT COULDN'T BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE THEM FOR LABOR. *TA THE DEALER STATED THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE OF $393.00 TO REPLACE A CONNECTING SHAFT, BETWEEN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE RACK AND PINION. *JB

2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED AN INVOICE STATING THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED. HOWEVER, AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, HE EXPERIENCED A POWER STEERING FAILURE. UPON RETURNING TO THE DEALER FOR AN EXPLANATION OF THE POWER STEERING FAILURE, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED IT WAS A SEPARATE PROBLEM NOT RELATED TO THE REPAIR THAT WAS JUST PERFORMED. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE TICKET, THE TECHNICIAN FOUND AND CHECKED CODE C0900 AND THEN CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR. IT THEN STATED HE FOUND A RELATED TSB THAT SAID WHEN FINDING A CODE C0900 AND B1325 AS WELL AS OTHER CONTRIBUTING FACTORS IT MAY NEED TO HAVE A COIL REPLACED AND GROUND STRAP ADDED. THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT STATE HE FOUND BOTH CODES.
I HAVE HAD MY ENGINE STALL DUE TO LACK OF FUEL MULTIPLE TIMES WHICH SEEMS DANGEROUS, I TRAVEL ON THE EXPRESSWAY EVERY DAY. WHAT IF IT HAPPENS AT AN FAST SPEED. I ALSO HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WHILE STEERING MY CAR. THERE IS AN LOUD POPPING, COMING FROM A STEERING SHAFT, WHICH HAS JUST GOTTEN WORSE I AM AFRAID THE STEERING SHAFT IS GOING TO BREAK! BOTH OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN AN RECALL FOR 2005 MALIBU. AS I AM CLEARLY HAVING THESE ISSUES MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL? WHY NOT? CHIP IN IGNITION CYLINDER CASE BAD NOT READING THE KEY TIMES -LICENSED MECHANIC HAD TO TAKE APART THE DASH BOARD REMOVE AND REPLACE THE IGNITION CYLINDER CASE-USED THE SAME IGNITION SWITCH AND THE SAME KEY. CAR HAD A SECURITY CODE REPLACED THE CAE-CLEARED THE CODE CAR OKAY NOW. CUSTOMER ASK FOR THE PART, COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY HER AMERICAN MADE CAR HAD A PART MADE IN MEXICO, SHE REQUESTED THE PART . IT WAS ON OR ABOUT 6/11/2014 I DID NOT GET THE CAR IN UNTIL 6/13/2014 MY SISTER AND MY NEPHEW HAD TO PUSH THE CAR INTO A SAFE PLACE I AM A DIABETIC WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE WITH A PROSTHETIC DEVICE. I REPORTED IT TO GENERAL MOTORS SERVICE REFERRAL [XXX] EMPLOYEE WENDY AND GAVE HER A PHOTO OF THE PART, THEY DID A RECALL ON MY KEYS, THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING. AT THE STOP LIGHT THE STEERING LOCKED UP WITH ENGINE RUNNING AT STOP LIGHT. AFTER POLICE STOPPED TO HELP AND ANOTHER PASSER BY STOPPED TO HELP THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED TO RESET CPU COMPUTER AND THEN THE STEERING WAS RETURNED ON AGAIN TO WORK FREE.. THIS CAR ALSO HAS THE STARTER RUN ON WHEN TRYING TO START THE ENGINE , SOLUTION IS TO PUSH ON GAS PEDAL WHEN TURNING THE KEY TO START AND LET ENGINE THEN TO START AND RUN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
