THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. I HAVE CHANGED THE LIGHT BUILD 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. THE LAST TIME BEING SATURDAY MORNING, THEN ON THE WAY HOME TONIGHT IT IS OUT AGAIN. LAST FRIDAY, IT WAS WORKING ON MY WAY SOMEWHERE AND THEN QUITE. ON MY WAY HOME IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. IT DIDN'T MATTER IF I TURNED, HIT A BUMP, ETC. IT JUST GOES ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. I HAVE READ MANY MANY COMPLAINTS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO OTHERS AS WELL. I FEEL CHEVROLET NEEDS TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE!
ELECTRONIC STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. WHEN IN GEAR AND FOOT ON BRAKE THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES RIGHT TO LEFT. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILURE THAT CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO SEIZE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V153000 (STEERING), 14E044000 (STEERING), AND 15V064000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
2006 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX. POWER STEERING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON RADIO SCREEN. WHEN THIS HAPPENED STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. HAPPENED UPON STARTING VEHICLE, WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, AND DURING TURNS. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE FOR SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL, HOWEVER GM SAYS MINE VIN DIDN'T FALL WITHIN THE RECALL.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT TIPS BACKWARD WHEN WE SIT BACK IN IT, AND CAN ROCK BACK AND FORTH WHEN THE CAR STOPS AND STARTS, OR IF THE DRIVER LEANS BACK WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER WHICH POSITION THE POWER SEAT IS PLACED IN, UP OR DOWN, FORWARD OR BACK. THIS IS A SIX-WAY POWER SEAT CONTROL.
CAR LOSES IT'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RANDOMLY, WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN. APPARENTLY, THERE ARE 2 SEPARATE RECALLS ON THE STEERING COMPONENTS FOR 2006 MALIBUS. GM SAYS THAT 1 OF THE RECALLS RELATED TO MY CAR AND THE REPAIR WAS MADE. SINCE THIS IS A "CLOSED" CASE AND THE REPAIR WAS MADE I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM BOTH THE DEALERSHIP THAT MADE THE REPAIR AND GM HEADQUARTERS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ISSUE IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR. CLEARLY, THE RECALL WAS JUST A BAND-AID, NOT A FIX AS I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE! RADIO ILLUMINATES THAT THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED (WHICH IS WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR). THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE 1. INVESTIGATED 2. FIXED BY GM AND NOT THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO PAY $130 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEN CHARGE ME TO REPLACE THE SAME PART THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX! THIS IS CRAZY AND DO WE REALLY NEED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WHEN IT CLEARLY SAYS (AND I CAN FEEL) THAT THE POWER STEERING IS FAILING? PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AS IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE.
ANTIFREEZE LEAK WATER PUMP AND WATER INLET TUBE .
YESTERDAY, WHEN TRYING TO PARK, I HEARD A CHIME AND THE MESSAGE "POWER STEERING" POPPED UP ON THE INFO SCREEN. THE CAR BECAME INCREDIBLY HARD TO STEER, SO I'M THINKING THE POWER STEERING HAD SHUT OFF. I TURNED MY CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON, AND THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON, SO I WAS ABLE TO PARK THE CAR CORRECTLY. WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO HEAD HOME, AS SOON AS I TURN ON A BUSY STREET, JUST BEFORE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CHIME GOES OFF, THE MESSAGE POPS UP, AND MY POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF AGAIN. I TURNED (WITH ALL MY MIGHT) INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A LITTLE BIT. MY FAMILY AND I WERE LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD, BUT WE WEREN'T SURE WHAT TO CHECK FOR. WE EVENTUALLY GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND WENT HOME. THANKFULLY, THE POWER STEERING STAYED ON AND WE GOT HOME SAFELY (17 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY). I'M JUST WORRIED THAT IT WILL EVENTUALLY TURN OFF ON ITS OWN AGAIN. IF I HAVE TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT, I WOULD LIKE TO GO IN PREPARED THIS TIME. A FEW MONTHS AGO, WHEN I HAD A BRAKE LIGHT ISSUE, ONE PARTICULAR SERVICE DEPARTMENT TRIED CHARGING ME $500+ FOR A PART. THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIED ON IT'S OWN ONLY ABOVE 50 MPH, I TRIED IT OUT AND I'LL TELL YOU, IT'S A TWO HANDED FIGHT TO KEEP THE CAR UNDER CONTROL.
POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARS AND THEN POWER STEERING GOES OUT. LOCAL GARAGE DIAGNOSED AS STEERING TORQUE SENSOR. THE STEERING USUALLY WORKS WHEN YOU FIRST START THE CAR, BUT COMPLETELY FAILS AFTER A FEW MINUTES. CONTACTED LOCAL GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS ALREADY FIXED UNDER THE PREVIOUS RECALL AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. APPARENTLY THE PARTS ARE FAILING AGAIN.
WHILE DRIVING POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS LOST WHICH RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION. RECYCLING THE IGNITION KEY RESOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR A DAY OR TWO BEFORE REPEATING. IT APPEARS THIS VIN IS NOT APPLICABLE TO THE GM RECALL FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. RECOMMENDATION TO NHTSA IS TO REOPEN THIS RECALL AND EXPAND THE VIN RANGE TO INCLUDE VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM AND NOT A SELECT FEW JUST TO SAVE MONEY. THIS INCIDENT OCCURS WHETHER DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS OR JUST STARTING THE CAR AND ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN.
CANNOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN ANY DIRECTION. ALMOST AS IF ITS LOCKED IN PLACE. AT FIRST IT JUST SEEMED LIKE THE POWER STEERING WAS GOING OUT, BUT THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE FOR WORK IT WAS GONE ALL TOGETHER
UPON TURNING ON MY VEHICLE, I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE STEERING WHEEL. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO FIRMLY HOLD IT. TEMPORARY FIX HAS BEEN TO RESTART THE VEHICLE.
MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU HAS HAD ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. I WAS DRIVING ON A VERY DANGEROUS CITY HIGHWAY. WITH MY THREE CHILDREN IN CAR. I LOOKED UP AND SAW THERE ARE RECALLS ON THE YEAR AND MAKE OF MY CAR BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY DON'T SEE A RECALL UNDER MY SPECIFIC VEHICHLE. I DON'T THINK IT MAKES SINCE AND I DON'T KNOW ANYONE TO FIX IT. BECAUSE MOST CARS HAVE A NORMAL POWER STEERING PUMP.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING HAD AN APPROXIMATELY THREE SECOND DELAY WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PATSY LOU WILLIAMSON (LOCATED AT 2100 LINDEN RD, FLINT, MI 48532, (810) 732-7400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-4950043584. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN MAY OF 2015. WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILS AND THERE IS A ECM. TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT RESETS. NOW COMPLETELY POWER STEERING FAILING COMPLETELY. SAW THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2015 BUT NEVER RECEIVED A BULLETIN. TOLD BY GM THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE RECALL BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY???
MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES EXTREMELY BAD ILIT ALSO LOCKS UP TO THE POINT THE WHEEL WON'T TURN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THREE YEARS AGO BY RELIABLE CHEVROLET (3655 S CAMPBELL AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MO 65807) PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT INTERMITTENTLY FEB. 2017. GM RECALL PERFORMED (REPLACED STEERING COLUMN AND OTHER COMPONENTS). OCT 2018 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT INTERMITTENTLY AGAIN.DECEMBER 2018 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY. DEALER WHO PERFORMED ORIGINAL RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE DETERMINED CAR NEEDED ANOTHER NEW STEERING COLUMN. CAR TOWED TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ALSO DETERMINED CAR NEEDED ANOTHER NEW STEERING COLUMN. IN SPITE OF KNOWN ISSUE WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND STEERING COLUMNS IN THIS VEHICLE, GM REFUSES TO PAY ANY OF THE APPROXIMATELY $850.00 REPAIR BILL.
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED. TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN AND POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON ALL OF THE TIME EXCEPT WHEN FOOT IS RESTING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. HAVE TRIED TO CHANGE OUT THE BRAKE SENSOR AND THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ONE BOTH IN MOTION OR WHEN CAR IS JUST SITTING
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND I ALMOST WRECKED. SO I HAD NO POWER STEERING, AND STILL DON'T. IT WILL COME BACK FOR A MINUTE AND THEN GO OUT AGAIN. I CHECKED ONLINE AND SAW THAT GM HAD RECALLED MY MODEL YEAR MALIBUS, AND OTHERS, FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING. SO I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THAT MY CAR WAS NOT A SUBJECT OF THE RECALL. IF THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME PROBLEM, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. SO I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE TO ME IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY SAID, WHICH I GUESS IS JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM! 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU: POWER STEERING LOCKS UP! LOCKS UP TO THE POINT IT TAKE TWO PEOPLE TO TURN THE WHEEL, THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING! HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT AND WHEN BULB IS REPLACED THEY BURN INSTANTLY. T/C NEVER TURNS OFF! RECENT COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE IN OTHER STATES HAVE BEEN MADE THERE ARE ALSO EVIDENT RECALLS BUT CHEVROLET FAILS TO HONOR THE RECALL AND REFUSE TO FIX BECAUSE THE CARS ARE 2006 AND THE UEAR NOW IS 2018. THIS IS NOT FAIR! WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO? THIS IS A SAFTEY ISSUE! IT IS MORALLY UNETHICAL AND ILLEGAL FOR CHEVROLET NOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND HONOR THIS RECALL REGARDLESS IF THE CAR WE HAVE IS USED. IF THE RECALL WAS MADE AND WAS NOT FIXED THEY MUST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT MADE AND FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THE CAR OWNER! I AM SURE CHEVROLET HAS A DATABASE AND IS AWARE AT WHAT AND HOW MANY VEHICLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED DUE TO THIS RECALL. WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR A LAWSUIT? I DEMAND THAT THIS RECALL BE HONORED AND THIS PROBLEM FIXED ASAP. IF I OR MY FAMILY ARE HARMED DUE TO THIS I WILL SUE SO HELP ME GOD! MY 06 MALIBU HAS INTERMIT POWER STEERING LOSS. I HAVE ALMOST HAD TWO ACCIDENTS WHEN THE POWER STEERING LOST OCCURRED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT GM HAS RECALLED CERTAIN VEHICLES FOR THIS CONDITION, BUT MINE HAS YET TO RECEIVE THIS RECALL. WHEN WILL GM FIX THE ISSUE WITH ALL VEHICLES EFFECTED BY THIS CONDITION. LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO A SAFE CONDITION.
THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GOES OUT WHEN DRIVING AND WON'T WORK AGAIN UNTIL I CUT THE CAR OFF . THE DEALERSHIP WANT TO CHARGE ME $130 TO LOOK AT IT AND WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIX DURING THE RECALL IN 2015. THIS ISN'T FAIR CHEVY IS SCAMMING US AND POTENTIALY CAUSING INJURIES.
POWER STEERING ALERT ON DASHBOARD. POWER STEERING HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MY CAR IN THE PAST AND SIMILAR MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILING OR HAVING ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. I HAVE NOTED MOSTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF MAKING A TURN WHERE I WOULD BE ACCELERATING CAUSING ME TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO COMPLETE THE TURN.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 178,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 158,709.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK YESTERDAY MORNING AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP SO THAT I COULDN'T TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AS WELL TO THE POINT IT WAS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN AN INCH TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND WAS ON BOTH SIDE STREETS (20-30MPH) & THE HIGHWAY (65MPH).
POWER STEERING HAS FAILED INTERMITTENTLY AND BRIEFLY WITH NO WARNING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND UPON MOVEMENT FROM A PARKED POSITION.
STEERING GETS VERY TIGHT AT TIMES AT ALL SPEEDS. SUSPECTED THAT ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST MECHANISM IS BAD. THIS PART WAS RECALLED IN 2015 FOR FAILURES.
TAKATA RECALL THE SECURITY SYSTEM LOCKED UP AND THE INGNITION WON'T TURN OVER SO THE CAR REFUSES TO START. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHEN I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT JUST SHUTOFF. THEN REFUSES TO START.THE CAR WAS TECHNICALLY STATIONARY, MY FOOT WAS IN THE BRAKE WHILE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. WE WERE ABOUT TO TURN INTO A CHURCH PARKING LOT WHEN IT STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT COME BACK ON.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

IN AN EFFORT TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE PRECEDING VEHICLE, THE CONTACT TURNED TO THE LEFT. THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,200.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT WAS RECALLED IN 2015. THE RECALL WAS ADDRESSED. NOW 3 YEARS LATER THE SAME PROBLEM IS HERE.

WHEN I ACCELERATE GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY AND GOING UP HILLS, MY CAR EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THROWS ME EITHER TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT.
WHEN DRIVING, GO TO TURN WHEEL AND IT HESITATES AND STICKS FOR A SECOND. DOES IT VERY OFTEN WHETHER TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. START THE CAR SOMETIMES AND WARNING BELL SOUNDS, POWER STEERING APPEARS ON RADIO SCREEN AND POWER STEERING HAS FAILED. TURN CAR OFF FOR AWHILE, TURN IT BACK ON AND POWER STEERING IS WORKING AGAIN, SOMETIMES. AND LAST, START CAR, START DRIVING AND THE GAS GAUGE GOES FROM FULL DOWN TO EMPTY. WARNING BELL SOUNDS AND LOW FUEL APPEARS ON RADIO SCREEN. ALL THESE THINGS HAPPEN RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING ON A STREET. HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR THESE THINGS ON OTHER 06 MALIBUS BUT NEVER FOR MINE. MY GARAGE WANTS HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. SOMETHING I CAN NOT AFFORD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CAPITOL CADILLAC, 6500 CAPITOL DR., GREENBELT, MD 20770, (240) 542-8945) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS THAT WERE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
LOST POWER STEERING ON ACCELERATION ONTO HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS. COULD NOT STEER UNTILL IT RESET AT SPEEDS OF 50+ MPH
STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT 8/17/2009 AND AGAIN 10/29/10 AFTER RECALL. FAILED AGAIN AND JUST HAD TO REPLACE. GM DID NOT NOTIFY CUSTOMERS THAT THERE WAS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT - POWER STEERING ADJUSTMENT ISSUED 5-23-2012. UNDER THIS I WAS COVERED BY MILES BUT NOT BY DATE. THIS WAS CLEARLY A WAY FOR GM TO NOT FIX THIS PERSISTENT PROBLEM. THEY CLEARLY KNEW THIS WAS A PROBLEM BUT DID NOT NOTIFY CUSTOMERS. THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS WORK EVEN THOUGH THEY CLEARLY USED SUB PAR PARTS IN THERE RECALL WORK.
ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY POWER STEERING WILL CUT OUT. MY WHEEL WILL SHAKE LIKE THERE IS A TORQUE SENSOR ISSUE AND A POWER STEERING MESSAGE APPEARS ON MY RADIO SCREEN. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AS IT HAPPENS WHILE MY CAR IS STATIONARY OR DRIVING.
