POWER STEERING WAS FIXED 2 YEARS AGO DUE TO RECALL. NOW THE CAR IS DOING THE SAME THING, BUT WORSE NOW. LOSING POWER STEERING MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGHOUT DRIVING (ONE TRIP). GM REFUSES TO FIX IT AGAIN. I THINK IT'S UNFAIR FOR THEM NOT TO FIX WHAT IS THEIR FAULT. I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO PULL OVER & CUT THE CAR OFF & CRANK IT BACK UP, ONLY FOR IT TO KEEP DOING THE SAME THING. IT HAPPENS EVERY 4 MILES. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!! *TR
WHEN PUTING THE CAR IN PARK THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON IN THE COMPUTER INFO SECTION AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN BUT IT PULSED OR VIBRATED BACK AND FORTH SIDE TO SIDE. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON A FEW TIMES AND IT EVENTUALLY STEERING CAME BACK AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS MORNIG 12/05/2016 WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN WITHOUT STRAINING HARD. AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK BUT IT STARTED THE PULSING AGAIN. CAR WAS STILL STATIONARY BUT I HAVE TO DRIVE IT TODAY. PRAY FOR ME.
MY CAR WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING THE CAR.IT HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING AND NOT TURNING.
THE STEERING GOES OUT WHILE MAKING TURNS AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. YOU CAN FEEL IT JERK THEN YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF WHERE THE CAR IS GOING. TO GAIN CONTROL BACK YOU KEEP TURNING THE WHEEL IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION UNTIL IT CATCHES. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR AT LEAST 2 YEARS. I HAVE PAID SEVERAL MECHANICS TO REPAIR PROBLEM BUT I STILL GET THE SAME RESULT AND I WEAR OUT NEW TIRES IN 3- 4 MONTH PERIOD. NO ONE SHOULD PURCHASE AS MANY TIRES AS I DO! I AM SICK OF IT!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY SHOOK. THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED GEARS AND THE POWER TRAIN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GASKET FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,375.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V064000 (STEERING), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SEIZE UP WHEN TURNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHEN PARALLEL PARKING AND MOST RECENTLY HAS STARTED TO GO OUT WHEN TURNING, MAKING THE VEHICLE VERY HARD TO STEER. WHEN PARALLEL PARKING, THE WHEEL STIFFENS SIGNIFICANTLY AND MAKES IT EXTREMELY HARD TO PARK. RESTARTING THE CAR WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE BRIEFLY BUT THE STEERING WILL BECOME HARD WITHIN ONE OR TWO SPINS. I PREVIOUSLY TOOK THIS CAR IN FOR THE TORQUE SENSOR RECALL, 14772. THIS SAME PROBLEM PERSISTS.

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHEN MAKING TURNS UNDER 30MPH THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND 3 CHIMES ARE HEARD. SHORTLY THEREAFTER POWER STEERING RETURNS. THE LATEST DATE THIS OCCURRED WAS 10/21/2016 BUT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE WEEK PRIOR AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
ON 9-28-16, I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO DEPART A PARKING SPACE, WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE THE GEAR REMAINED IN REVERSE. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL ON 03-27-15, FOR THE PREVIOUS 8 YEARS THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFT CABLE. THE SHIFT CABLE THAT WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL HAS NOW FRACTURED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHEN ACCELERATING AND MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC MOTOR ASSEMBLY AND ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
MY CAR DOES NOT REGISTER GAS PROPERLY. THE GAS HAND IS IRRATIC AND CONTINUOUSLY FLUCIATES FROM FULL TO EMPTY REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF GAS. BECAUSE OF THE UNRELIABILITY OF THE GAS HAND, I RAN OUT OF GAS ON THEINTERSTATE! NO FURTHER EXPLANATION OF THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SHOULD BE NEEDED. AT TIMES THE CAR FAILS TO START AND IDLE PROPERLY. BOTH ISSUES ARE DUE TO A MALFUNCTION IN THE FUEL CIRCUIT SENSOR LOCATED INSIDE THE GAS TANK. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX DUE TO LOCATION OF THE SENSOR. PLEASE RECALL.
TAKATA RECALL/ I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY MALIBU AND IN THE PAST MONTH EVERY TIME I CHANGE THE TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKE LIGHT BULBS THEY ARE ALWAYS BLOWING FOR NO REASON. AND MY CAR IS STARTING TO GET A LOUD SOUND WHEN I DRIVE IT AND STEERING IS GETTING HARD SOMETIME. I'VE LOOKED FOR POWER STEERING TO CHECK FLUID BUT EVERYONE SAYS MINE IS ELECTRIC SO I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND THEY SAID IT WAS ELECTRIC AND I NEEDED TO FIX THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY IN MY STEERING. I PRETTY SURE THERE IS A RECALL ON THAT PART. AND ALSO I THINK THERE A RECALL ON A PART ON MY TRANSMUTATION. I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT RECALLS ON MY CAR. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME CAUSE I'VE GOT MY KIDS AND GRANDKIDS THAT RIDE IN IT EVERY DAY. PLEASE HELP ME.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING: CAR STARTED CHIMING WITH A POWER STEERING ON THE RADIO DISPLAY WHILE IN MOTION PROCEEDING THROUGH A STOP LIGHT, WITH DIFFICULTY IN STEERING.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE REDUCED POWER ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TSC LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ALL CAME ON. THE GAS PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN ALSO I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY THANKFUL I ABLE TO. I DID GET IT HOME SLOWLY THE PEDAL IS STILL UNRESPONSIVE AT THIS TIME AND THE ENGINE LIGHT, TSC LIGHT IS STILL ON AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT IS STILL ON.
TRACTION FEATURE FAILS WHEN BRAKING. THE BRAKES WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE TO TRAVEL FORWARD ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL IS BEING PRESSED. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN BRAKING ON AN INCLINE OR IN WET CONDITIONS. IT HAPPENS WHETHER THE SPEED IS FAST OR SLOW. HAVE BROUGHT VEHICLE TO GRAFF CHEVY FOR RECALL REPAIR, BUT CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS. HAD BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS CHECKED BY FIRESTONE WHO STATED THAT NEITHER OF THESE NEEDED REPAIR, AND THEREFORE, ARE NOT ADDING TO OR CAUSING THE PROBLEM.
POWER STEERING FAILS WHEN ACCELERATING. BROUGHT CAR TO VANDERGRIFF CHEVY INITIALLY TO BE REPAIRED, AND WAS CHARGED OVER $600. FOUND OUT ABOUT RECALL NOTICE, BUT DEALERSHIP DENIED ONE WAS ISSUED AND REFUSED REFUND. CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS BLOW OUT AND MUST BE REPLACED REGULARLY (ABOUT EVERY 3 MONTHS). BROUGHT CAR TO GRAFF CHEVY FOR POWER STEERING AND LIGHT SIGNAL RECALL REPAIRS. CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. INFORMED GRAFF CHEVY AND RETURNED FOR REPAIRS. STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS IN SPITE OF REPAIRS DONE.
I BROUGHT OUR 2006 MALIBU MAXX IN FOR A 5000 MILE TIRE BALANCE AND ROTATION.. I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD TWO MORE BENT RIMS ON THE CAR.. THIS AFTER REPLACING TWO ALREADY SEVERAL YEARS BACK.. I WAS INFORMED BY THE TIRE TECH THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH CHEVY RIMS AND THAT THEY ARE SEEING THIS SOFT RIM PROBLEM ON A REGULAR BASIS.. THIS CAN GET EXPENSIVE QUICK AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF AND WHEN A RECALL WILL BE INITIATED? SOFT RIMS CAN CAUSE COMPLETE TIRE FAILURE AND BLOWOUTS WITHOUT WARNING AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAN BE CATASTROPHIC...

THE FAILURE OCCURRED DAILY FOR THE PAST YEAR EVERY TIME A TURN WAS MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FAILED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,000.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WARNING LAMP GOES IS ON, VERY HARD TO STEER CAR WHEN THIS OCCURS, I PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD SHUT DOWN AND RESTART AND ALL IS OK FOR A DAY OR TWO. , HAD TORQUE ANGLE SENSOR RECALL DONE. I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY A LOT AND THIS IS VERY SCARY. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT SOME OF THE MALIBU "S HAVE SAME SYMPTOMS MY CURRENT MILES ARE 58,000/ WILL BE TAKING IT TO A CHEVY DEALER TO DISCUSS THIS ''SAFETY '' ISSUE. SOME ONE MY FAMILY JUST HAD THE ELECTRIC ASSIST REPLACED FREE THRU FORD, FOR SIMILAR ISSUE. THIS WARNING LIGHT ON MY CHEVY MALIBU WILL APPEAR AT ALL DIFFERENT DRIVING , CITY. TURNING, HIGHWAY.

2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWER STEERING FAILURE AFTER ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RECALL REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. IT WORKED INTERMITTENTLY DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER; WHEN IT WAS COLD IT WORKED, BUT WHEN IT WAS HOT, IT DIDN'T WORK. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, THEY INFORMED HIM HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $650 TO REPLACE A PART, THAT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *JB

THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (HARBIN CHEVROLET IN SCOTTSBORO, SC) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN OR THE STEERING ASSIST MOTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
THE STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE CONTROL OF WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. WHEN ACCELERATING OR ENTERING HIGHER SPEEDS A DING GOES OFF. HAVE REPLACED STEERING COLUMN THROUGH DEALER. NEED TO REPLACE STEERING GEAR AND CONTROL MODULE. THIS SHOULD ALL BE COVERED CONSIDERING THESE PARTS PROBABLY ALL GO BAD HAVING A DEFECTIVE STEERING COLUMN TO BEGIN WITH. I DON'T FEEL SAFE AT ALL DRIVING MY CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWENTY MINUTES. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER FAILED. THE STARTER WAS REPLACED FIVE TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE TURNS OFF COMPLETELY. WHEN BROUGHT IN TO BE LOOKED AT THE SYSTEM SAID THAT THERE WAS NEVER A PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE CANT USE HEATER OR A/C WITHOUT THE CAR DYING 100% OF THE TIME.
HAD REPAIR DONE FOR STEERING RECALL IN 2015 BUT SOMETIMES POWER STILL GOES OUT OF STEERING WHEN TRYING TO PARALLEL PARK AND WHEN ACCELERATING ON FREEWAY. SUSPENSION: VIRTUALLY NO SHOCK ABSORPTION; RIDES VERY HARD.
WHILE ON EXIT RAMP FROM ONE INTERSTATE TO ANOTHER INTERSTATE HIGHWAY DURING A VEER TO THE LEFT, CAR SUDDENLY VEERED RIGHT & CROSSED A LANE OF TRAFFIC HEADING FOR AN EMBANKMENT AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, UNABLE TO STEER, WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO TURN 180 DEGREES AND SLID INTO THE EMBANKMENT. HAD I NOT DONE THE 180 DEGREE SPIN, I WOULD HAVE HIT THE EMBANKMENT HEAD ON, LIKELY BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. THE RECALL REPAIR TOOK PLACE AND OBVIOUSLY FAILED. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TRUST DRIVING IT AGAIN.
I HAD THE STEERING ASSIST RECALL 14V-153 PERFORMED ON MY CAR LAST YEAR, TODAY WHEN I MAKE TURNS I AM LOSING POWER STEERING AND I GET THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE ON THE INFORMATION SYSTEM. MY GUESS IS THE SAME PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" I WAS PULLING OUT MY DRIVEWAY AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND IT STARTED TWITCHING SO I HURRIED UP AND PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE BUT EVERYTHING STARTED TO BLANK AND THE CAR CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF A CAR. THERE WAS TWO GUYS IN THE CAR THAT HELPED ME PUSH MY CAR BACK IN MY YARD. I LET MY CAR REST FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND WENT OUT AND TRIED TO MOVE IT BUT ONCE I CRANCKED THE CAR AND PUT IT IN GEAR THE WHEEL WAS STILL LOCKED LIKE...I CAN NOT FULLY TURN LEFT OR RIGHT ALL THE LIGHTS START TO BLANK AND THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE VACUUMING OUT THE PARKED VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BUMPED THE GEARSHIFT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE PLACED BACK IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE STARTED IN ORDER TO BE PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING POWER STEERING ASSIST LOCKS MOMENTARILY MAKING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITON. LET OFF PEDAL AND IT COMES BACK.DASHBOARD BELL ALSO DINGS WHEN THIS OCCURS. ALSO STEERING MAKES BINDING NOISE LIKE A LARGE RUBBER BAND BEING STRETCHED WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH.
STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT. IT CONTINUED SHAKING EVEN WHEN CAR WAS COMPLETED STOPPED. HAD TO SHUT CAR OFF TO STOP THE STEERING WHEEL FROM SHAKING.
I'LL START BY SAYING MY VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 84,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND IS VERY WELL CARED FOR AND MAINTAINED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT I NOTICED THAT MY BREAK LIGHTS WERE NOT COMING ON WHEN I PRESSED THE BREAK (I DIDN'T SEE THEM ILLUMINATING THE CAR BEHIND ME). WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC I NOTICED THAT IF I PRESSED THE BREAK PEDAL AS FAR AS IT COULD GO THE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON. THE BREAKS LIGHTS THEN STARTED WORKING PROPERLY FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, THEN THEY STARTED WORKING IN REVERSE ORDER (BREAKS NOT PRESSED AND LIGHT SWITCH ON, BREAKS PRESSED AND BREAK LIGHTS SWITCH OFF). I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO A CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE THIS ISSUE LOOKED AT, AND REFERENCED THAT IT WAS SHOWING THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000. THE DEALER NOTED THAT I HAD ALREADY HAD THE REPAIRS FOR 14V252000 BACK IN 2014 SO IT COULD NOT BE DUE TO THAT ISSUE. IN THE END THE DEAL CHANGED MY BREAK SWITCH AND PEDAL POSITION SENSOR, WHICH HAS RESOLVED THE ISSUE. I WOULD ASK THAT 14V252000 BE UPDATED TO REQUIRE THE BREAK SWITCH AND PEDAL POSITION SWITCH BE REPLACED. I BELIEVE GM'S RESPONSE TO ORIGINAL COMPLAINTS OF 14V252000 IS NOT ADEQUATE. I AM FORTUNATE TO BE VERY OBSERVANT OF WHAT MY VEHICLE IS DOING, OTHERS WILL BE MUCH LESS FORTUNATE AND THE RESULTS WILL LEAD TO A CRASH.
THE SOMETIMES WILL NOT START. IT'S LIKE IT'S NOT READING THE KEY. I HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH AND BOUGHT 6 KEYS AND THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
I DID BUY THIS CAR USED, BUT UPON TEST DRIVE NOTHING WRONG. 5 MONTHS LATER I HAVE A CLICKING IN STEERING, AND RUBBING SOUND, AND AS I GO DOWN THE ROAD IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FRONT END IS FALLING OFF. SERIOUSLY NEED HELP ON FIXING THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME TIGHT AND EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY STEERING RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AT TIMES IT'S VERY HARD TO STEER, TURNING THE KEY TO START THE CAR AND THE ENGINE JUST CRANKS AND WHEN YOU LET THE KEY OFF THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO CRANK.
I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WORK AND IT SAID ENGINE POWER DECREASING AND THEN STARTED MAKING STRANGE MESSED UP NOISES AND I COASTED INTO THE PARKING LOT IT DIDN'T DIE BUT IT WOULDN'T LET ME GO ANY FASTER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD THEM PUT A SCANNER ON IT. OF WHICH IT SHOWED MULTIPLE CODES ALL RESULTING IN THE SAME ISSUE THE MASS FLOW SENSOR. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE IT'S LIABLE TO KEEP HAPPENING MAKING MY VEHICLE UNRELIABLE AND I AM A SINGLE MOM.
14V153 RECALL WAS DONE AND PROBLEM CAME BACK WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO PAY FOR INSPECTION / DIAGNOSTIC. COMPUTER SCAN SHOWS SAME FAIL OF SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR
WHEN ACCELERATING QUICKLY IT PULLS REALLY HARD TO THE RIGHT JERKING THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF YOUR HAND. THERE IS A TEMPORARY LOSE OF CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I CHECKED MY VEHICLES VIN TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS THAT IT WOULD FALL UNDER AND IT DID NOT SEEM TO MATCH ANY. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN AND I AM GLAD THAT THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER HAS BEEN AT THE WHEEL. I BELIEVE THIS MIGHT BE SOMETHING GM SHOULD FURTHER LOOK INTO BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT ALSO DO NOT FALL UNDER A RECALL. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS DEFECT AND SHOULD NOT BE FIXED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED FROM PAUL CONTE CHEVROLET IN FREEPORT, NY AND IT HAD 3 RECALLS THAT WERE NOT FIXED BEFORE SELLING IT TO ME. NOW MY POWER STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED TO THE POINT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TWITCH UNCONTROLLABLY AND THEN BECOME STIFF, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO STEER. I ENDED UP PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS TO THE TUNE OF ALMOST $1700.00 TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING MOTOR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT GM RECALLED MANY VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL AS MY CAR BUT FOR MY SPECIFIC VIN ONLY THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS RECALLED. I DID GET THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR RECALL FIXED BUT MY STEERING WAS STILL MESSED UP. THIS RECALL DID NOT FIX MY VERY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE. IT WAS ONLY AFTER I AUTHORIZED THE STEERING COLUMN AND MOTOR REPAIRS THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SAYING THAT EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS THE GM RECALL FOR OTHER MALIBU'S, BECAUSE MY SPECIFIC VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL, I WILL NOT BE GETTING REIMBURSED. IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT GM BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. THIS SERIOUS STEERING ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO CRASH. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST GM FOR FAILURE TO RECALL ALL VEHICLES THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THIS POWER STEERING ISSUE AND ALSO REQUEST THAT THEY REIMBURSE ME FOR FIXING AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE I EVEN BOUGHT THE CAR. ON MY VEHICLE WE HAVE DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ANTI-LOCK BREAK LOCK COME ON AND THEN ON DIC IT DISPLAYS ENG PWR REDUCED AND THEN VEHICLE THEN LOSES POWER IN ALL TIMES, IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE SPEED HAS VARIED FROM 60 MPH TO 35 MPH.. ONCE ON A STATE 2 LANE AND THE OTHER TIMES ON TOWNSHIP ROADS. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, NEVER ON AN INTERSTATE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR LOSES POWER ALMOST COMPLETELY AND I HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY. USUALLY AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF, WAITING A FEW MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTING, IT SEEMS TO BE OK, EXCEPT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND I AM USUALLY OK FOR A WEEK OR SO UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
