TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED TO THE ON POSITION, THE VEHICLE STARTED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2006 MALIBU SHUT OFF WHILLE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THE KEY WAS BUMPED AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS VERY LOOSE. I AM NOT SURE WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE 2006 MALIBU?

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS TOO LOOSE NEARLY CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WHILE TURNING. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL WILL GET HARD TO TURN USUALLY WHEN I AM IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING LANES ON THE INTERSTATE AND ACCELERATING. SOMETIMES AN ALARM WILL COME ON AND A LIGHT WILL COME ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN GO OFF. HERE LATELY THE ALARM IS NOT COMING ON. IT IS GETTING WERE IT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN, AT LEAST A COUPLE TIMES A WEEK NOW. MOST OF MY DRIVING IS DONE ON THE INTERSTATE AND IT IS SCARY BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF I CAN TRUST MY CAR WHEN MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE.
INNER AND OUTER TIE ROD ENDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES AND NEEDS WORK A THIRD TIME

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY OR SOLUTION. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V064000 (STEERING), 14E044000 (STEERING), AND 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN). THE DEALER WAS TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION OF THE POWER STEERING FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING TO DETERMINE WHEN THE DEALER WOULD COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
VEHICLE WAS ALREADY SERVICED UNDER RECALL 13036 AT DEALER IN MICHIGAN - NOW JUST OVER 1 YEAR LATER THE SAME ISSUE IS PRESENT - BRAKE LIGHTS ON WITHOUT DEPRESSING PEDDLE - PUTTING ON BRAKE DOES NOT TURN ON BRAKE LIGHTS - CRUSE CONTROL NOT WORKING BECAUSE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON, SOMETIMES UNABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, ETC - SAME PROBLEM - LAST RECALL WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX IN MY CASE.

THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED AN INJURY TO THE RIGHT ARM THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 161,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
ELECTRIC ASSISTING POWER STEERING AFTER COMPLYING WITH THE ORIGINAL REPAIR RECALL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED TWICE RECENTLY. LOST STEERING CONTROL AT SLOW SPEED. REQ INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW. FOR FURTHER REPAIRS.

IN ADDITION, WHILE MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED FOR A MOMENT; THEN, IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE SIGNAL LIGHT SOUNDED, BUT THE SIGNAL LIGHT WERE NOT ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY HUSBAND AND I, COUPLE OF TIMES' I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR. I CALLED CHEVROLET (DEALER) THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS. MY VEHICLE LOCKS UP WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL. IT HAPPENS UNDER LOW SPEEDS IN STREET TRAFFIC, ESPECIALLY WHEN HAVING TO ACCELERATE AT TURNS, AS WELL AS HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN ACCELERATING TO GET ONTO ONRAMPS. IT HAPPENS IF I ACCELERATE QUICKLY AND THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP AND I LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DASH BOARD ENTIRELY LIGHTS UP, MAKES A CHIME SOUND AND BLINKS. IT THEN WILL RESUME NORMAL OPERATION ONCE I RELEASE THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT MY VEHICLE ISN'T PART OF THE RECALL 14772 BUT IT IS EXACTLY HAPPENING AS DESCRIBED.

BEFORE I SEEN IT WAS IN HERE, MY INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WENT OUT ON MY CAR, AND I REPLACED IT. I SAW THE RECALL IN HERE AND CALLED DORMAN TO HAVE THEM REIMBURSE ME 258.00 FOR THE PART, BUT THEY SAID THAT THEIR NOT RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE THE PART AS YOUR INF0RMATION IN HERE STATES, SO WHO IS IN CHARGE? I HAVE PROOF I HAD TO REPLACE IT AND CAN DISCLOSE THE INFORMATION. I JUST WANT THE 258.00 I PAID TO REPLACE IT. MY VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE AS I WOULD STEER TO THE RIGHT MORE THAN THE LEFT BUT BOTH SIDES MADE NOISE.
MY CAR MAKES CREAKING NOISES WHEN TURNING RIGHT. I HAD TWO OPINIONS AND BOTH SAID INTERMEDIATE DRIVE SHAFT. I HAD IT FIXED BUT IF ITS A RECALL CAN I GET REIMBURST TO PAY DOWN MY CREDIT CARD?
WHILE DRIVING, I LOSE CONTROL OF POWER STEERING FOR A BRIEF TIME. POWER STEERING FLASHES ON MY CONSOLE RIGHT BEFORE THIS OCCURS. THE FIRST TIME, I ALMOST COLLIDED WITH AN 18 WHEELER WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. UPON GOING TO THE DEALER, I WAS ADVISED IT IS MY MALIBU'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR. THIS PART IS COVERED UNDER THE 2008 MALIBU RECALL AND CERTAINLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE 06! THIS IS A GRAVE SAFETY ISSUE THAT MANY ARE EXPERIENCING.
VEHICLE STEERING DOES NOT FULLY RESPOND WHEN ENTERING TURNS, CURVES IN THE ROAD AT TIMES. THIS IS A INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, BUT MORE TIMES THAN NOT. CHEVROLET DEALER DIAGNOSIS IS FAULTY POWER ASSIST MOTOR, MODULE STEERING GEAR AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. MY INQUIRES ON WHY THESE MAJOR COMPONENTS HAD FAILED HAVE GONE UNANSWERED. VEHICLE TAKEN TO BLOOMSBURG PA. CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR BULLETIN 14116. EPS MOTOR CONTROLLER WAS NOT REPLACED AS PER RECALL STATES TO REPLACE. REPEATED CALLS AND VISITS TO DEALERSHIP HAS YIELDED NO RESULTS. THERE INVOICE AFTER SAID REPAIRS WHERE MADE, CLEARLY SHOWS THAT JUST SENSOR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED.
HAVE NOT BEEN IN WRECK YET BUT MANY PEOPLE ARE DRIVING CARS THAT ARE UNSAFE. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON WHEN YOU APPLY THEM THEY GO OFF, RECALL IS NOT FIXING PROBLEM. CHEVROLET KEEPS CHARGING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHEN THEY KNOW ITS A MODULE THAT NEEDS ISOMETRIC PASTE REAPPLIED EVERY THREE MONTHS. THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT ALSO AND THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW THE LIGHTS AREN'T WORKING, OTHER THAN PEOPLE ASKING IF YOU ARE RIDING THE BRAKES.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT AND THE POWER STEERING GEAR BINDING WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 152,000.
AS I DROVE FROM RACINE, WI TO MILWAUKEE, WI. TO VISIT FAMILY FOR THE 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND AS I WAS TO TURN CAR OFF TO PARK I WASNT ABLE TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BREAKS, COULDNT GO INTO PARK, GEAR SHIFT WAS STUCK COULDNT MOVE IT IN TO PARK HAD TO PUT ON EMERGENCY BREAK IN ORDER TO KEEP CAR IN PARK! IT LEFT ME STRANDED WAS VERY UPSET & CONFUSED!!!

IN SEPT 2014, I HAD MY 2006 MALIBU REPAIRED UNDER GM RECALL 13036. AT THE END OF JUNE 2015, I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR REPAIR, WHICH WAS THE SAME WORK THAT WAS DONE FOR THE RECALL. AT THE END OF JULY 2015, THE MALFUNCTION RETURN AGAIN. I CONTACTED CHEVY VIA EMAIL AND PHONE, AND WAS FIRST TOLD THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED AGAIN AND EXPLAIN THAT I WAS HAVING THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN RECALL 13036 (" THESE FLUCTUATIONS CAN CAUSE ONE OR MORE OF THESE CONDITIONS: THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED; THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PUSHED"). I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT THAT MINE WAS "CLOSED" SINCE I HAD ALREADY HAD IT DONE ONCE. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE REAR-ENDED BECAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTIONING BRAKE LIGHTS, WHICH IS A PROBLEM THAT CHEVY/GM IS AWARE OF, HAVING ALREADY ISSUED A RECALL.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER RECALL REPAIRS AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND HE HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AT FIRST. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING THE BRAKE. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY TYPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. A DAY LATER, THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE CONSUMER PAID FOR A REBUILT TRANSMISSION, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
WHEN I ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO ENTER TRAFFIC, MERGE WITH TRAFFIC OR PASS A CAR (GOING 25 - 50 MPH), I HEAR DING, DING, DING WARMING BELL AND THE STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE RIGHT AND MOMENTARILY BECOMES LOCKED. I GRAB IT WITH BOTH HANDS AND LET OFF THE GAS AND IT RECOVERS. IT IS TOTALLY UNMANAGEABLE FOR THOSE MOMENTS AND VERY ALARMING. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN FOUR DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE NOV, 2011 FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEMS/RECALLS. THIS CURRENT PROBLEM IS A SAFETY FACTOR!!!! FILLED MY CAR AND MY GAUGE SAYS I AM LOW ON GAS. I STOP TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART IT'S OK FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES. AND IT DOES IT AGAIN AND NOW REMAINS ON FULL ## VIN PASSED ## AMERICAN CHEVROLET MALIBU 2006 ##
I GOT INTO MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU LTZ (I'M NOT AN OVERWEIGHT PERSON, I WEIGH 192LBS AT 6FT TALL) AND THE FRONT SEAT COLLAPSED BACKWARDS AND TO THE RIGHT. APPARENTLY THE SUPPORT BAR UNDERNEATH THE SEAT HAD BROKEN AT THE WELD. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST NEARLY $1000 TO REPAIR AS THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FRONT SEAT. SUBSEQUENT SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET SHOW THIS IS APPARENTLY A PRETTY WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING OR DURING AN ACCIDENT, I MAY HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR OR BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AS THE COLLAPSE WAS SUDDEN AND VIOLENTLY THREW ME BACKWARDS. I REALLY THINK CHEVY SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. AS I NOTED ABOVE, THE BREAK WAS AT THE WELD NOT IN THE BAR ITSELF. THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING WORK WAS FIXED PRIOR TO THE RECALL, THEREFORE WAS COMPLETED BY A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP. WHEN THE RECALL CAME OUT GM REIMBURSED ME FOR THE REPAIRS, HOWEVER NOW THE CAR HAS TO WARM UP FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE POWER STEERING IS ABLE TO WORK AFTER IT SITS OF THE NIGHT. I CONTACT GM REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY SAID SINCE THE WORK WAS COMPLETED BY A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO MEANWHILE I HAVE TO LET IT WARM UP DAILY (EVEN AT 50 DEGREES +) AND IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE.
LOST POWER STEERING AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN AND THE BRAKE WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN THE CAR. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE POWER STEERING RECALL AND WHEN I GOT IT BACK IT HAD A GAS CAP MESSAGE. THERE APPEARED TO BE SOME BLACK GUNK AROUND THE GAS CAP AREA. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW GAS CAP. ALTHOUGH THEY REPLACED THE GAS CAP, SOON AFTER THE MESSAGE RETURNED. I AM ALERTED TO IT EACH TIME I START MY CAR, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A YEAR NOW. THERE DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE ANYTHING WRONG BUT I DON'T DRIVE IT FAR FROM HOME BECAUSE OF THIS MESSAGE. I FEEL THAT WHEN THEY REPAIRED THE POWER STEERING THEY TRIGGERED THIS "EVENT" TO OCCUR. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, IT OBVIOUSLY IS NOT IN NEED OF A NEW GAS CAP AS THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT.
