WHILE DRIVING KIDS TO SCHOOL THE STEERING JUST WENT OUT. I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD AS IT WAS ICY. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GAIN THE STEERING BACK AFTER I RESTARTED THE SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S CAR. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING HER BROTHERS TO SCHOOL, THEY WOULD HAVE UNDOUBTEDLY HAD AN ACCIDENT. THIS PART COST OVER $600 TO REPAIR AND THE DEALER INDICATED THAT IT IS A 'KNOWN ISSUE' AND THEY HAD TO GO THROUGH SEVERAL PARTS DURING THE REPAIR TO FIND ONE THAT WORKED?! SERIOUSLY? THIS IS A STUDENT LEVEL CAR AND HAVING ISSUES MAKES A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THIS ONE JUST STOPS WORKING? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
THE PASSLOCK SYSTEM IN THE CAR ENABLES WHENEVER IT WANTS TO LEAVING YOU STRANDED. THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS DOWN ALL METHODS OF DISARMING THE SYSTEM FAIL. YOU HAVE TO WAIT X AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE PASSLOCK SYSTEM TO DISABLE ON IT'S OWN. IT COULD TAKE AN HOUR TO 48 HOURS! HUGE INCONVENIENCE! *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK TO FULL, FUEL GAUGE WILL SUDDENLY SHOW EMPTY, THEN OVER NEXT 50 MILES OR SO, THE FUEL GAUGE LEVEL WILL SWING WILDLY BETWEEN EMPTY AND FULL. THIS RESULTS IN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. AFTER ABOUT 50 MILES, THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL WILL REGISTER AND THEN 50 MILES AFTER THAT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS OFF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT SUDDENLY DISPLAYED. THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING WOULD OPERATE AS NORMAL BEFORE EVENTUALLY MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
DRIVING DOWN HWY GOING ABOUT 70MIL PRE HOUR AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF MY CAR. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT HURTING MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE. CHECK RECALL AND FOUND OUT MY CAR WASN'T A RECALL BUT ALL OTHER MALIBU WAS THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM AND REALLY NEED TO BE ADDRESS ON 2007 MALIBU BEFORE SOMEONE GET KILLED AND I PRAY ITS NOT ME. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I TOOK MY CAR IN TO GET REPAIRED FOR ALL OF THE VEHICLE RECALLS. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR ABOUT 6-7 MONTHS AND THEN WHEN I GOT IT BACK I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. MY LIGHTS GO OUT EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS AND OR WORK ONLY WHEN THEY WANT TOO, THEN MY RADIO WOULD ONLY WORK WHEN IT WANTED TOO AND NOW MY WINDOWS ONLY WORK WHEN THEY WANT TOO AND IT'S DRIVING FUNNY. YESTERDAY I WENT TO REPLACE ANOTHER DTR LIGHT AND WHILE DOING SO WE NOTICED ALL THE WIRES ARE MELTED. ONE OF THE RECALLS WAS FOR THE TRANSMISSION. SHIFT CABLE WHICH IN TURN STATES THAT IF IT WAS TO BECOME LOOSE OR DETACH OR ETC WOULD MELT MY WIRING HARNESS AND DTR LIGHTS AND ETC. I HAVE 4 KIDS AND THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND INSTEAD OF FIXING THE RECALLS THEY MADE IT WORSE AND NOW ME AND MY CHILDREN S LIVES HAVE BEEN PUT IN DANGER. WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN MY CAR STARTS ON FIRE AND I CAN'T GET MY KIDS OUT OR MY SELF? I NEED THIS FIXED ASAP FOR FREE BEFORE I GET A LAWYER AND IT SEEMS NO ONE AT ANY GM LOCATION WANTS TO ADDRESS THESE ISSUES OR RETURN A PHONE CALL.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS. TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING UP HILL AND TRYING TO GO AROUND A CORNER. IN PUTTING ON THE BRAKE TO ACCELERATE MY CAR STARTED BEEPING, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND WOULDN'T LET ME TURN, AND POWER STEERING FLASHED ACROSS MY RADIO. I LET OFF THE GAS AND MY STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKED BUT AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN SAME THING HAPPENED. I MISSED GOING OFF THE ROAD BY INCHES. I HAD THE CAR IN THE GARAGE AND APPARENTLY THIS CAR MODEL INTERMITTENTLY SENDS MORE VOLTAGE THAN NEEDED SO THE CAR DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND LOCKS THE STEERING. GARAGE THOUGHT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AND A WEEK LATER SAME THING HAPPENED AND YET AGAIN I ALMOST WENT OFF THE ROAD. NEEDLESS TO SAY NOW I'M PETRIFIED TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR!! *TR

IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. I WAS TOLD BY A CHEVY DEALER MECHANIC THAT MY ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING IS NOT WORKING. FOR SOME REASON, MY 2007 MALIBU IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS THE OTHER 2007 MALIBUS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
I GOT A RECALL FOR MY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU TO FIX A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH BRAKE LIGHTS. MY VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING NO PROBLEMS WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK DONE, BUT I JUST WANTED TO KEEP IT SAFE. HOWEVER, ABOUT A MILE AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, AND ON MY WAY HOME, I WENT TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CAR BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER AND IT WAS ALL I COULD DO TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS BUT THEN SEEMED TO GO AWAY. SINCE THAT TIME IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT I CAN'T PREDICT. IF I PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT, THE STEERING SEEMS TO "RESET" AND IT IS OK UNTIL I MAKE THE NEXT TURN. THE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS "UNRELATED TO THE RECALL" SO I CALLED GM ON THE PHONE AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER BUT IN THE END THEY DID NOT WANT TO COVER ME EVEN FOR JUST THE EXPENSE OF DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. I THINK THIS PROBLEM IS A LOT MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE OTHER ISSUES FOR WHICH THEY HAVE HAD RECALLS. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT NO ONE IS GOING ONTO AN ON-RAMP OR SIMILAR SITUATION AND VEERS INTO ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
MY CAR HAS BEEN FLASHING THE POWER STEERING ICON INTERMITTENTLY, THE ALARM WILL CEASE IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. JUST A FEW DAYS AGO I NOTICED THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL JERK TO THE LEFT IF YOU GO FASTER THAN 55 MPH. IT WILL ALSO SHAKE TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT WHILE IN PARK. IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO KEEP MY CAR IN ITS LANE, AND IS QUITE TERRIFYING. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE YEARS BEFORE AND AFTER THE 2007 MALIBU BUT NOT THE 2007. I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT MORE RESEARCH WILL BE DONE TO INCLUDE THE YEAR 2007 AS MY MOTHER ALSO OWNS THE SAME MODEL (WE BOUGHT THEM WHEN MY FATHER PASSED AWAY SO WE COULD BE SAFE) AND IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. WHEN DRIVING OR TURNING CAR THERE IS A CLUNKING, CRACKING NOISES COMING FROM UNDER CAR. WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE CAR PULLS TO THE OTHER SIDE OR JERKS. I BROUGHT CAR USED AND THE CRACKING CLUNKING NOISES IS GETTING WORSE. I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS A RECALL BECAUSE IT WILL COST A LOT TO FIX IT.

CAR ACCIDENT WHILE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. BRAKES DID NOT WORK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE SNAPPED. *TR

I DID NOT HAVE A CRASH, OR DRIVING INCIDENT. THIS COMPLAINT IS DUE TO THE FOLLOWING: I RECEIVED THE RECALL (14152) LETTER BACK IN JUNE OF 2014. THE NEEDED PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME SO I WAITED FOR ANOTHER LETTER TO COME AND FINALLY RECEIVED A MONTH OR SO LATER (AUGUST). I TOOK MY CAR TO THE WESLEY CHAPEL GM DEALER AND THEY COMPLETED THE RECALL WORK FOR FREE. ALTHOUGH, THEY ENDED UP CHARGING ME $2,400 FOR ELECTRICAL, AND FUSE DAMAGE TO MY CAR THAT THEY SAY WAS NOT RELATED TO THIS RECALL, ALTHOUGH BASED ON EVERYTHING I HAVE READ I BELIEVE THESE CHARGES WERE A REFLECTION OF THE RECALL. MY HANDS WERE TIED AS I NEED MY CAR SO I PAID THE FEE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND CALLED GM AND HAD THEM OPEN UP A TICKET TO LOOK INTO MY ISSUE, CHARGES, AND WHAT THE DEALERSHIP FIXED. GM RESPONDED TO ME THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. NOW, THINKING ALL OF THIS WAS BEHIND ME, I RECEIVE ANOTHER RECALL LETTER WITH THE SAME RECALL NUMBER THIS MONTH (JAN 2015), NOW TELLING ME I STILL HAVE AN OPEN RECALL. WHEN I PUT MY VIN NUMBER INTO THE SYSTEM IT STILL REFLECTS THIS AS AN OPEN RECALL ON MY CAR. I'M SO CONFUSED, AND REALLY FEEL LIKE IM BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY GM, AND THE DEALERSHIP. I REFUSE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS THEY WILL FIND ANOTHER WAY TO CHARGE ME WHEN THIS IS ALL GM'S RESPONSIBILITY. AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO, NOR DO I EVEN KNOW IF MY CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE OR NOT. *TR
MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT, I WAS TOLD NO RECALL FOR 2007 MODEL. I TOOK IT TO THE WEISNER GM DEALERSHIP AND PAID $721.03 TO HAVE STEERING MOTOR AND MODULE REPLACED ON 08/21/14. I PICKED THE CAR UP AT 5:30PM THE SAME DAY, AS SOON AS I STARTED HOME I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER, [XXX], HAD LEFT. I LEFT HIM A VOICEMAIL. HE CALLED ME THE NEXT MORNING AND LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL EXPLAINING THAT GM WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING THAT COULD BE WRONG WITH MY CAR, RUDELY! I CALLED HIM BACK AND HE AGAIN STARTED A RANT, I ASKED HIM TO PLEASE LISTEN TO ME, THE CUSTOMER. HE SAID THE EARLIEST HE COULD GET MY CAR IN WILL BE 08/25/14. ON FRIDAY I DROVE MY CAR FOR WORK, I AM A COURIER. IN THE AFTERNOON AROUND 3:30 WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN THE CHIMES SOUNDED AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN! I CALLED HIM, [XXX], BACK AND TOLD HIM THAT I WAS IN A TURN AT THE TIME AND ALMOST HIT A BARRIER. HE SAID HE COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL HE GETS THE CAR BACK. I TOLD HIM I TRIED TO GET THE CAR BACK TO HIM BUT HE REFUSED AND SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY TIME UNTIL MONDAY, 08/25. I HAVE EXPLAINED TO HIM, FROM THE BEGINNING, THAT I AM A COURIER AND AM ON THE ROAD AT LEAST 6 HOURS/DAY AND THAT I REALLY FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT I WAS AFRAID OF HAVING A WRECK BUT I CANNOT AFFORD NOT TO WORK SINCE MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY 2 MONTHS AGO. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SUDDENLY QUIT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING; BOTH AT FREEWAY SPEED AND WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 15 MPH. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILS THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD MAKE A CLICKING SOUND, SOMETIMES THERE WOULD BE A CHIME AND THE BATTERY LIGHT INDICATOR ON THE DASH. ONLY ONE TIME THE CENTER CONSOLE DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING." WE NARROWLY AVOIDED A CRASH WHILE GOING AROUND A CURVE IN THE FREEWAY. THE LOSS OF POWER ASSIST REQUIRED EXERTING MORE FORCE THAN NORMAL TO AVOID COLLIDING WITH THE DIVIDER. WHEN THE POWER STEERING RE-ENGAGED WITHOUT WARNING WE SWERVED TOWARDS A TRUCK IN THE ADJACENT LANE. WE TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHO SAID IT'S A FAULTY IGNITION COIL CAUSING A SHORT IN THE POWER STEERING.
