TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WHILE DRIVING HOME. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE STEERING WAS ILLUMINATED MANY TIMES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
NOTICED AFTER I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THAT WHEN EVER PULLING INTO TRAFFIC OR JUST ACCELERATING QUICKLY AT ALL THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT CAUSING THE WHEEL TO BE "STRAIGHTENED" BACK UP WHICH YANKS THE CAR REALLY HARD CAUSING FOR QUICK CORRECTION WHICH CAN LEAD TO OVER CORRECTION AND THEN A WRECK. VERY DANGEROUS IN THE RAIN OR SNOWY/ICY CONDITIONS SINCE IT YANKS THE WHEEL BACK STRAIGHT AND CAUSES THE CAR TO SLIDE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU CAN HEAR AUDIBLE CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE COLUMN AND SOMETIMES EVEN THE WARNING DINGING THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL FAILED. SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE EVENTUALLY IT WILL CAUSE WRECKS AND QUITE FRANKLY DEATHS! VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN THIS HAPPENS! AND APPARENTLY ITS NOT JUST MY CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
WHEN ACCELERATING AND PROVIDING INPUT TO THE STEERING WHEEL THE STEERING SEEMS TO GO OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS IF THE ENGINE RPMS APPROACH 3000. THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN AS I'M ACCELERATING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON FOR APPROXIMATELY A YEAR. *TR
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL RANDOMLY LOCK UP WHEN IM DRIVING AND A MESSAGE SAYING POWER STEERING COMES UP ON THE SCREEN. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING MY CAR ANYMORE BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHEN AND HOW LONG THE WHEEL WILL LOCK UP FOR. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND HAVE NOTICE THAT THIS IS A BIG ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THE POWER STEERING FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WAS VERY HARD TO TURN, BUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED THE STEERING OPERATED NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 81,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,244.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SUDDENLY SHAKE AND VIBRATE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR MODULE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
2007 CHEVY MALIBU LS 3.4 ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PROBLEM, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL START PULSATING EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AT STARTING THE ENGINE, WHILE DRIVING IT WILL MOVE BY ITSELF LIKE IF IT IS TRYING TO CORRECT THE POSITION OF THE TIRES. FOR LESS THAN 2 SECONDS MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE THERE IS NO CONTROL ON THE STEERING UNLESS YOU CORRECT THE DIRECTION OF THE TIRES BY GRADUALLY COMPENSATING ON THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. IT WILL DISPLAY A WARNING SIGN FOR THE POWER STEERING ON THE RADIO, ON MI CASE I HAD IT FOR TWO DAYS, THEN IT ERASED BY ITSELF, I TRIED TO LOOK FOR THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR, WITHOUT KNOWING THAT THIS CAR HAS NONE, SINCE IT IS HANDLE BY AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC TO SEE IF HE KNOWS ABOUT THESE PROBLEM, SINCE IS NO RECALLS SO FAR IN THIS 2007 MALIBU FOR THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. *TR
POWER STEERING ISSUES ON MY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND PULLS STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT WITHOUT WARNING, ALMOST RAN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
THE FUEL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THEN THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED GOING FROM FULL TO EMPTY AND THEN BACK TO THE ACTUAL LEVEL. ONCE IT STARTED HAPPENING IT INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND NO REAL PATTERN. AFTER 3 OR 4 OCCURRENCES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON & STAYS ON UNTIL I GET CLOSE TO EMPTY AGAIN. SOMETIMES IT REGISTERS BUT ONLY FOR FEW SECONDS BEFORE YOU RUN OUT OF GAS ON DARK HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE NO WHERE LAND. COST OF REPAIRS ESTIMATES IS $600-800 AND SHOULD BE ON RECALL AS CLEARLY ITS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AFTER READING ALL THE BLOGS ONLINE OF OTHER MALIBU OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TT
2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH GAS GAUGE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE RE-FUELED THE VEHICLE, THE GAS GAUGE REACHED APPROXIMATELY 3/4 FULL, THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE DROPPED TO EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE GAS GAUGE CONTINUED TO READ EMPTY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON UNTIL THREE TO FOUR GALLONS OF GAS WAS USED. THE GAUGE WOULD THEN BEGIN TO READ THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TANK AND WOULD CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL THE TANK WAS FILLED AGAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON FOR SEVERAL DAYS UNTIL GAS WAS PUT IN THE TANK ABOVE 3/4 FULL. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FUEL GAUGE LEVER SENSOR WAS POORLY DESIGNED. *JB UPDATED 06/19/12 *JB
THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND DO NOT SHUT OFF (THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM BUT HAS GRADUALLY WORSENED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS HAPPENING ALMOST ALL OF THE TIME NOW). ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK AND AT TIMES IT IS DIFFICULT SHIFTING OUT OF PARK. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT CHEVY DEALERSHIPS TWICE EACH, AND TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC TWICE (FOR A TOTAL OF 6 SERVICE TRIPS). DESPITE SPENDING SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS, NONE OF THEM HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME FROM BEHIND A COUPLE WEEKS AGO BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT CHANGE - HE FOLLOWED ME TO A GAS STATION AND YELLED AT ME! IT IS SO BAD NOW THAT WE DON'T DARE DRIVE THE CAR FOR SAFETY REASONS, AND CANNOT SELL IT FOR THE SAME REASON. MY GIRLFRIEND BOUGHT THIS CAR WHEN IT WAS BRAND NEW AND IT IS NOT ONLY UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS, BUT UNBELEIVEABLY FRUSTRATING THAT THEY JUST KEEP CHARGING US MORE MONEY BUT DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
ON 6/20/2011 I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR ROAD WITH MY GRANDSON IN THE BACK SEAT IN A CHILD SAFETY SEAT. WITHOUT WARNING MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED JUMPING AND PULLING HARD TO THE LEFT. THE STEERING WAS STIFF AND HARD TO PULL BACK TO THE PROPER DIRECTION. THEN IT PULLED SO HARD THAT IT WAS AT A POINT I ALMOST PUT MY CAR INTO HEAD ON TRAFFIC OR A DITCH. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND A PARKING LOT TO PULL INTO. I TURNED OFF MY ENGINE AND COMPOSED MYSELF. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR BACK HOME. I HAD NO WARNING OF POWER STEERING SYSTEM ON MY WARNING SYSTEM UNTIL THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ON A RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT SINCE THIS WAS A MAJOR ROAD (HWY146). WE TOOK MY CAR TO RON CRAFT CHEVROLET FOR THE REPAIRS WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS. WE DO NOT HAVE THE PART TAKEN OFF, BUT I AM SURE THEY HAVE THIS ON RECORD. I HAVE THE INVOICE AND CANCELLED CHECK. THEY REPLACED THE ELECTRIC STEERING MOTOR. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS ON A RECALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
THE FUEL SENSOR ON OUR 2007 CHEVY MALIBU ONLY WORKS OCCASIONALLY. IT WILL TYPICALLY READ EMPTY REGARDLESS OF THE FUEL LEVEL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. OBVIOUSLY A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AS MANY OWNERS ARE SEEING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SENSOR IS INSIDE THE GAS TANK SO THIS ISSUE CANNOT BE DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TEAR, IT IS SIMPLY A BAD DESIGN OR A BAD PART. EITHER WAY GM NEEDS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MISTAKE AND FIX THEIR MISTAKE. WITH COLD WINTER DRIVING AN INACCURATE FUEL SENSOR IS A HAZARD. THE TRIP METER CAN GIVE A ROUGH ESTIMATE, BUT AS MPG CHANGES CONSIDERABLY BETWEEN HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING AS WELL AS WINTER VS. SUMMER THIS IS NOT A VERY SAFE SOLUTION. *TR
MID-JUNE, 2011:VEHICLE WAS MAKING A ROARING NOISE: THE RESULT WAS THAT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE BROKEN END OF AUGUST 2011: DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD GRINDING SOUND,THE RESULT WAS THAT THE STEERING SHAFT AND OUTER TIE ROD WERE BROKEN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. SEPTEMBER 2011: EXTREME DIFFICULTY APPLYING BRAKES, ON OCCASION WOULD APPEAR NORMAL. HAD 3 BRAKE INSPECTIONS DONE WITHIN A WEEK AND A HALF PERIOD. WHEN BRAKES NO LONGER WOULD OPERATE , TIT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.4. *TR
FOR MORE THAN TWO MONTHS NOW, SINCE JUNE 10, 2011, MY GAS GAUGE KEEPS JUMPING UP AND DOWN, AND CAN REMAIN TO THE "EMPTY" OR "0" SIGN FOR MORE THAN A HUNDRED MILES. THEN I RECEIVE MESSAGES THAT MY GAS TANK IS EMPTY EVEN WHEN IT IS FULL. THIS OCCURS AT THE MOMENT WHEN I ADD GASOLINE IN THE TANK OR FILL OUT THE TANK. THEN, SINCE JUNE 17, THE EMPTY SIGN HAS BEEN ACCOMPANIED BY THE ALERT ENGINE SIGN. UNTIL THE END OF JULY, THE TWO ALERTS WOULD ROUTINELY DISAPPEAR AFTER I HAVE DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 100 MILES OR AFTER A DAY OR TWO DAYS. BUT FOR MORE THAN THREE WEEKS NOW, THE TWO ALERTS CAN STAY FOR A WEEK AND BEYOND 100 MILES. BUT THEY WOULD EVENTUALLY DISAPPEAR AND WOULD REAPPEAR ONCE I PUT NEW GASOLINE IN THE CAR OR FILL OUT THE TANK. ON AUGUST 18, 2011, I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT IS WAS THE FAILURE OF THE GAS TANK SENSOR. SAYING THAT THE GAS TANK WILL NEED TO BE TAKEN OUT TO INSTALL A NEW SENSOR. WHEN I WENT TO GOOGLE FOR GET ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE FOR MALIBU 2007, I FOUND OUT THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2007 MALIBU. I CALLED CHEVROLET ASKING IF MALIBU 2007 HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL CAN ONLY BE ISSUED BY THE NHTSA. THAT'S WHY I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND WOULD NO LONGER RECOGNIZE WHEN THE SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. IN ADDITION, WHEN ATTEMPTING TURNS AND DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES, BUT DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
2007 CHEVY MALIBU - POWER STEERING FLASHING ON RADIO SYSTEM, BELL DINGING, ROUGH TURNING. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MONDAY. *TR
OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THE POWER STEERING ON THE 2007 MALIBU GOING OUT WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS ARE REQUIRED FOR SOMETHING TO BE DONE? I THOUGHT BUY AMERICAN WAS GOING TO BE THE BEST. GM FOOLED ME. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH VIBRATIONS, BRAKES, DRUMS, ROTORS, STEERING COLUMN GEARS BUT THIS MORNINGS NEAR MISS ACCIDENT JUST TAKES THE CAKE. I AM DRIVING TO WORK 5:30AM ON INTERSTATE 58 IN SUFFOLK, VA DOING 60 WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHEEL JERKS ME INTO THE NEXT LANE OF TRAFFIC ALMOST DRIVING UNDER AN 18 WHEELER. I GRASP THE STEERING WHEEL AS TIGHT AS I CAN TRYING TO PULL BACK INTO MY LANE WITH THE WHEEL FIGHTING ME BACK AND FORTH. WHAT A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE. I PULL OFF (SHAKING MY --- OFF) MAKE A PHONE CALL, SIT FOR 1/2 HOUR (STILL AFRAID TO DRIVE). WHILE THE CAR IS IDLING THE WHEEL IS BOUNCING BACK AND FORTH IN PARK. I PUT IT IN DRIVE WITH MY FOOT HELD TIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE AND IT IS STILL JUMPING. PUT IT BACK IN PARK. BUILD UP A LITTLE NERVE. PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND START TO DRIVE. EVERYTHING IS FINE. GET TO WORK 5 MINUTES FROM THERE ONLY TO FIND THAT MY CAR HAS AN ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING? SOME MORON MUST HAVE DREAMT THIS UP AND GM NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS HORRIBLE POWER ASSIST CRAP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO INFORMED HER TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AND ADVISED THAT THEY MAY HAVE TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE A WARRANTY FOR THE REPAIRS BUT THEY WOULD GIVE HER A RETURN CALL AT A LATER DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,524. UPDATED 9/27/11 *CN THE C ONSUMER HAS SINCE SOLD THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/05/11
MY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU FUEL GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY AFTER A FILL UP AND THEN IT WILL GO TO FULL AND THEN BACK DOWN TO OUT OF FUEL CAUSING THE ENGINE CHECK LITE TO COME ON - AT FIRST THE LITE WOULD GO OUT WHEN I HAD LESS THEN A 1/4 OF A TANK OF FUEL - NOW IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I HAVE BEEN READING THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 MALIBU. THE REPAIR FOR THIS IS 600-800 DOLLARS! I HAVE OWNED AT LEAST 20 CARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD A FUEL TANK GAUGE GO BAD? *TR
MY 2007 CHEVY LTZ FRONT DRIVER SEAT BROKEN SHORTLY AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE SEAT ALL THE WAY DOWN IN LOW POSITION FOR LAST 6-7 YEARS OR SO. CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WANTS A HUGE AMOUNT TO REPLACE THE SEAT RACK ETC. I DO NOT KNOW HOW A FRONT DRIVER SEAT BREAKS.. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE, THE GAS GAUGE WOULD DECREASE TO ZERO AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. NORMAL OPERATION WOULD RESUME AFTER THE TANK WAS HALF EMPTY. IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS WOULD REQUIRE A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENDING UNIT ALL SENSORS AS THE COMMON CAUSE OF THIS IS CORROSION IF THE FLOAT BY THE GAS, THE DEALER SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
FUEL GAUGE STARTED READING EMPTY AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON. AFTER DRIVING FAR ENOUGH TO BURN OFF A QUARTER OF A TANK OF GAS THE GAS GAUGE WOULD START FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. POWER STEERING TROUBLE - 2007 CHEVY MALIBU. WHEEL IS TIGHT WHEN STARTING THE CAR, CAN HEAR A CLICK IN THE DASH AND THEN THE WHEEL IS LOOSE AND CAN STEER. THE POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARS ON THE INFORMATION CENTER. HAPPENED TWICE SO BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER (STILL UNDER WARRANTY). THEY FOUND A CODE FOR A POSSIBLE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION AND TIGHTENED A GROUND WIRE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED WITH GREATER FREQUENCY. BROUGHT CAR BACK TO DEALER TWICE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS THERE WAS NO CODE IN THE COMPUTER AND THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR WHILE THERE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR AND GREW PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WHERE I HAD TO SIT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES WAITING FOR THE CLICK AND THE WHEEL TO RELEASE. AT TIMES I WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO TRY TO RESET IT BUT IT DID NOT SEEM TO HELP. THE POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARS ON THE DASH AFTER STARTING THE CAR (THOUGH SOMETIMES SEVERAL MINUTES LATER) AS WELL AS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO DIFFICULTY STEERING. RETURNED CAR TO DEALER AND RECEIVED A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THEY RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *TR

MY CAR FOR THE LAST YEAR OR SO HAS SAID THAT MY FUEL TANK IS EMPTY, EVEN RIGHT AFTER I FILL IT UP. NEVER HAD THE POWER STEERING GO OUT WHEN I TURN LEFT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON EVERY SINCE THE EARLY PART OF DECEMBER 2010. ON THE DAY THAT IT FIRST HAPPENED, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AN CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WANTED TO KNOW IF THEIR WERE A RECALL TO THE SPECIFIC MODEL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP ACTED AS IF HE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THEIR ARE OTHER GM CARS THAT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING AS WELL. CHEVY IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I GUESS THAT IT WILL HAVE TO BE NATIONAL COVERAGE ON THE NEWS FOR ANY ACTION TO BE TAKEN.
