TAKATA RECALL I NEED TO FIND OUT IF THE 2007 MALBU IS IN THE RECALL.THEY FIX THE TRAMISSION CABLE . IT SAY THE BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR THEY FIX THE BRAKE LIGHT LIGHT. NOW I SEE POWER STEERING RECALL AND INTION SWITCH RECALL. THEY CHARGE ME 1000. AND IT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM NOW WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR INITION SWITCH . THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
POWER STEERING FAILS 99% OF THE TIME! I HAVE NO POWER STEERING AT ALL WHEN I AM DRIVING. IT HAS COMPLETELY FAILS. IT'S ON FOR TWO SECONDS RIGHT WHEN I START MY CAR, SHAKING BACK AND FORTH VIGOROUSLY AND THEN POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE IS GONE! ALL MANUAL FROM THEN ON OUT! I DRIVE WITH KIDS IN THE CAR AND EVEN BUMPED INTO THINGS WHILE TURNING BECAUSE I CANNOT STEERING! THIS RECALL NEEDS TO APPLY TO EVERY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU, NOT JUST A SPECIFIC TIME FRAME GROUP! IT'S SO DANGEROUS FOR ME TO DRIVING EVEN ON MY OWN STREET AND HIGHWAY WHEN I GO TO WORK! THE WHEEL SHAKES WHEN I'M NOT DRIVING AND EVEN IN MOTION EVEN WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILS! I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU FOR OVER A MONTH ABOUT MY VEHICLE BEING UNSAFE TO DRIVE, BUT YOU MUST THINK IT'S OKAY FOR IT TO BE DRIVEN SINCE YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT! ON OCT. 31ST I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND TURNED ON THE SEAT HEATER. A FEW SECONDS LATER I NOTICED THE SEAT GOT EXTREMELY HOT SO I QUICKLY TURNED IT OFF. WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR THERE WAS A HOLE IN MY SEAT WHERE THE HEATER IS!

THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 213,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE FROM A COMPLETED STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER THE INITIAL ATTEMPT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MISFIRING; HOWEVER, FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WOULD NEED TO BE PERFORMED TO FIND A RESOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE INTO THE RIGHT LANE, THE STEERING BECAME LOOSE AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE LEFT, STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD WHERE IT WAS AWAITING INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY AT 99,000.
I HAD JUST CRANKED, BACKED OUT OF CARPORT, STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY. STEERING WHEEL NOT TURNING SMOOTHLY. WAS CATCHING AS WHEN SOMETHING MOVES FROM ONE NOTCH TO ANOTHER. DROVE SLOWLY ONE STREET AND ABORTED MY PLANNED DRIVE DOWN INTERSTATE, AFRAID OF LOSING CONTROL OF THE STEERING. DROVE SLOWLY 3 MILES TO GM DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT., NOTICING PROBLEM ONCE EN ROUTE. THE SHOP DID SOME TEST. SERV. MGR. SAID HE BELIEVED WHAT I SAID BUT THEIR TESTING SHOWED NOTHING AT THE TIME ... THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN ON MY CAR: SPECIAL POLICY 15356 GOOD THRU 4-3-2017 AND 150,000 MILES. HE WROTE THAT DOWN FOR ME IN CASE I NEEDED IT LATER ... SAID I DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT STEERING GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE, THAT SOME MESSAGES WOULD APPEAR IF ANY PROBLEM. SEARCHED ONLINE AT HOME, AS I HAD RECEIVED NOTHING FROM GM ON THIS PROBLEM AND FEEL UNSAFE IN MY CAR. SAW OTHER COMPLAINTS AND THAT GM AND SAFETY BOARD IS DOING NOTHING. TODAY, 9-17-2015, I RECEIVED NOTICE FROM GM.ON THIS PROBLEM. I KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, HAVING EXPERIENCED IT 9-14-2015, BUT SERVICE DEPT. DID NOT SAY THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING SINCE THEIR TEST SHOWED NOTHING. THE LETTER SAYS IF THE CONDITION OCCURS, THE CONDITION WILL BE REPAIRED FOR ME AT NO CHARGE. DOES SOME MAJOR INCIDENT HAVE TO OCCUR BEFORE REPAIRS CAN BE DONE? OR THOSE MESSAGES HAVE TO APPEAR WHILE AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT? IT SHOULD BE FIXED NOW SO THAT I CAN DRIVE WITHOUT BEING SUBJECTED TO ADDITIONAL CHANCE OF ACCIDENT DUE TO THE STEERING.
MY FUEL GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES. THE GAUGE GOES DOWN WHEN IDLING OR AT A STOP. THIS IN TURN CAUSES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON. WHILE THE GAS GAUGE WILL GO BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION AFTER A LITTLE BIT OF DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH THE GAS CAP, BUT AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE A FAULTY LEVEL SENSOR. AS IT'S A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH MANY CHEVY MALIBU'S, I DON'T KNOW HOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL YET. GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE TO GET MY CAR TESTED UNTIL 2017 OR I WOULD NOT PASS EMISSIONS DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR AND THE TORQUE SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED TWO DEALERS FOR MONTHS, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE BACKED UP WITH APPOINTMENTS TO SCHEDULE A REPAIR WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY WOULD STOP WHILE DRIVING. WHILE IN PARK THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD OSCILLATE APPROXIMELY 30 DEGREES BACK AND FORTH BY ITSELF. SERVICED AT DEALERSHIP FOR STEERING RECALL TWICE. FIRST TRIP REPLACED TORQUE CONTROL SENSOR, DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT OFF THE LOT BEFORE PROBLEM REOCCURRED. SECOND TRIP REPROGRAMMED TORQUE SENSOR AND STEERING POSITION SENSOR, PROBLEM REOCCURRED TWO DAYS LATTER.
A SQUEAKING SOUND IS COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WHENEVER I AM SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE SEAT SQUEAKS WORSE WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. UPON EXAMINATION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SEAT FRAME WAS BROKEN AT THE POINT WHERE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ANCHORS TO THE SEAT FRAME. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. I CALLED GM 800-222-1020 TO REPORT THE AIRBAG ON MY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU AIRBAG KEEPS COMING ON AN OFF ON 8/22/15 I CALLED THE 1ST TIME NO ONE CALLED ME I CALLED ON 8/25/15 AND I CALLED TODAY 8/31/15. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSES...I DONT THINK THAT IS FAIR WHY WOULD THE AIR BAGS ON A CAR GO OUT????? I WAS TOLD ON THE PHONE THAT I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY NOW THE STORY CHANGES. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE DRIVING THIS CAR, KNOWING THAT IF I CRASH I COULD DIE. ALSO I DONT THINK I GOT ALLLLL THE RECALLS FIXED IN MY CAR. PLEASE HELP. I KEEP ON GETTING THE RUN AROUNDS.
WHEN GOING UP A HILL, TURNING TOO THE LEFT, SOMETIMES JUST TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL FROM A DEAD STOP THERE IS NO POWER STEERING, ETC THE POWER ASSIST FOR THE STEERING CUTS OUT AND THERE ARE 3 CHIMES. WHEN IT HAPPENS PULLING OUT FROM A PARKING SPACE THERE ARE NO CHIMES, JUST NO POWER STEERING. THESE ARE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE GM RECALL BUT THEY SAY MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. MAYBE BECAUSE MY RADIO DOESN'T DISPLAY STEERING. OR IT'S A BIGGER RECALL THAN THEY WANT TO PAY FOR, WHAT DO YOU THINK, SHOULD THEY GET AWAY WITH IT? DO I HAVE TO HAVE GM SPEND MONEY FOR ME TO GET A LAWYER TO HAVE THIS FIXED, ITS THE SAME PROBLEM AS RECALLED VEHICLES.

MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING POWER STEERING ISSUES, POOPING AND CLICKING WHILE TURNING, DAYS PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE LOSING COMPLETE CONTROL AND CRASHING INTO THE MEDIAN ON THE HIGHWAY IN ATLANTA, GA. DRIVING AT THE APPROPRIATE SPEED SIMPLY MANEUVERING AROUND ROAD DEBRIS, THE CAR BODY LEANED RIGHT THEN LEFT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEEL. AT THAT MOMENT THE VEHICLE NO LONGER HAD TRACTION NOR WAS THE BRAKING SYSTEM EFFECTIVE. AT THAT MOMENT THE CAR VEERED LEFT RESULTING IN THE MALIBU HITTING THE CENTER MEDIAN TOTALLING THE FRONT END. I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES BUT MY BROTHER BROKE HIS ARM.

I NOTICED THE POWER STEERING SHAKE WHILE DRIVING LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN A LEFT TURN IT JERKED TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TALKED TO GM AND THEY DENIED A RECALL FOR MY VIN # BUT OTHERS OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR HAVE BEEN RECALLED. CHEVY DEALER WANTS $994.00 TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR, MORE THAN I CAN AFFORD.
I USED TO GET A WARNING TO "SERVICE AIRBAGS" ON THE STEREO DISPLAY, AND A CHIME, TYPICALLY WHEN I FIRST STARTED UP THE CAR. THIS STARTED WHEN I WAS LIVING IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. I DROVE WITH MY BACKPACK ON THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND OCCASIONALLY THAT SEAT WOULD CHIME FOR PASSENGER TO BUCKLE UP. THE SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE WOULD STAY UP FOR ABOUT 5 MILES OF DRIVING, THEN WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE AGAIN. FINALLY CAUGHT IT IN THE ACT, GOT IT TO A DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THEIR DIAGNOSTIC CAME UP WITH A PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR WAS FAILING/HAD FAILED. THE ONLY REMEDY OFFERED WAS TO CLEAR THE COMPUTER, OR CONSIDER A BRAND NEW PASSENGER SEAT (WHICH AT THAT TIME EXCEEDED THE ESTIMATED BLUE BOOK VALUE). CLEARING THE COMPUTER OF THAT TROUBLE CODE LASTED ABOUT A WEEK. COULDN'T OFFER MORE INFO SUCH AS IF THE AIRBAG WOULDN'T DEPLOY IF NEEDED, OR IF IT WAS LIKE A JACK-IN-THE-BOX AND MIGHT TRIP UNNECESSARILY. THAT WAS ALMOST 5 YEARS AGO, THIS SUMMER IT STOPPED ADVISING ME OF THE NEED FOR SERVICE. I'M NOT SURE IF THE SENSOR FINALLY GAVE OUT, OR IF SOME COMPONENT(S) WERE DAMAGED IN A COLLISION THAT RIPPED OFF THE BUMPER THIS WINTER.
WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SUDDENLY BECOME STIFF AND SHIFTED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT IN MY HANDS. THIS LASTS FOR ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS. THE CAR DOESN'T SEEM TO SHIFT ON THE ROAD BUT I HAVE TO HOLD ON WITH BOTH HANDS UNTIL THE WHEEL STOPS MOVING AND GOES BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY AND AT ALL SPEEDS SINCE IT BEGAN ON SUNDAY (IT'S NOW THURSDAY) BUT AT UNPREDICTABLE INTERVALS.
SATURDAY I WAS RUNNING ERRAND AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON, BEFORE I COULD GET HOME THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTICE CAME ON AND MY POWER WAS BARELY AT A CRAWL UNTIL I MADE IT HOME. THE GOOD THING IS I WAS ON SURFACE STREETS. HAD I BEEN ON THE FREEWAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I MAKE CERTAIN MY CAR HAS THE NECESSARY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND I WAS JUST AT MAITA CHEVROLET IN ELK GROVE LESS THAN A MONTH AGO AND THEY NEVER ONCE INDICATED A POTENTIAL PROBLEM.

THE 'TIGHT STEERING' HAS CAUSED MY FINGERS TO DEVELOP CURVATURES AND TWISTED AND ENLARGED ARTHRITIC KNUCKLES. IT IS CAUSING MY SHOULDERS TO BECOME PAINFUL REQUIRING PHYSICAL THERAPY. CARPAL TUNNEL FROM THE MINI-TRAUMA PUSHING AND JERKING THE STEERING WHEEL TO OVERCOME ITS RESISTANCE TO TURN. (NEXTEER CALLS THIS 'TORQUE OVERLAY' AND THIS TORQUE OVERLAY IS EFFECTING MANY OTHER PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF. FUEL GAUGE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN ACTING SPORADIC, AT TIMES IT WOULD INDICATE THAT FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY EVEN AFTER REFUELING. CONDITION CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND PRESENTLY FUEL GAUGE JUST READS EMPTY. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE CODE P0463 IS ACTIVE.
STARTING BEFORE MAY 2015 AND LASTING UNTIL 11/19/15, THE YELLOW WARNING DASHBOARD LIGHTS, GAUGES, AND DIC WOULD OCCASIONALLY GO BERSERK WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS ON AN INTERSTATE AROUND 8AM IN THE MORNING IN MAY OF 2015. AT THE SAME TIME DURING THESE EPISODES, THE SHIFTING OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD BE JERKY. THE LIGHTS WOULD "SETTLE DOWN" AFTER LONG ENOUGH, BUT SOME COMBINATION OF LIGHTS ALWAYS REMAINED ON AT THE END OF THE EPISODES, SUCH AS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SECURITY LIGHT, AND ABS LIGHT. THE CAR WOULD SEEM TO RETURN TO NORMAL SOMETIMES AFTER BEING RESTARTED. I HAD A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP CHECK IT OUT IN 5/15/2015 AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. SOMETIMES DURING THESE EPISODES, THE POWER STEERING WOULD ALSO LOSE POWER. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND HE PUT IN A NEW IGNITION SWITCH 11/19/15. THE CAR HAS NOT GONE BERSERK SINCE THEN, BUT THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK RELIABLY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE, BUT WENT OFF. THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAS FAILED TO WORK TWICE SINCE THEN TOO. THE CRUISE CONTROL ALSO TEMPORARILY STOPPED WORKING.

ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED MY POWER STEERING CUTS OUT AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS PHYSICALLY TURNS ITSELF AND LOCKS THE WHEEL THROWING ME INTO ADJACENT LANES AND ERRATICALLY MOVING MY CAR ON THE ROAD. THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY RECALL ON OTHER 2007 CHEVY MALIBUS WITH THE IDENTICAL PART NUMBER THAT IS ALSO ON MY CAR BUT AFTER CONTACTING GM I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON A VEHICLE AND THAT TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE IT IS SAFE FOR ME TO OPERATE MY VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPAIR 2 OTHER RECALLS OUT OF MY POCKET, HAD 2 TAKEN CARE OF BY GM, YET NOW HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 3 OR MORE PARTS ON MY CAR THAT ARE UNDER RECALL BUT NOT EXTENDED TO MY VIN# BUT ALREADY SHOWING IDENTICAL SYMPTOMS FOR FAILURE FOR PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I FEEL LIKE MY LIFE IS IN DANGER DRIVING A VEHICLE GM IS TELLING ME THAT IS SAFE. NOT TO MENTION THE DEPRECIATION OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THESE MECHANICAL ISSUES. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING UP INTERSTATE 95 AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT, WHICH RESET THE POWER STEERING. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER MILE WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. I AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND RESTART THE CAR TO RESET IT. THIS TIME THE POWER STEERING DID NOT RESET. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON MOST OTHER VEHICLES THIS YEAR, EXCEPT FOR A FEW MONTHS WHICH MY VEHICLE FALLS INTO. I GOT IN MY CAR AND WHEN I STARTED IT THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED VIBRATING AND JUMPING. IT THEN BECAME VERY LOOSE WHILE DRIVING AND THE ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE TURNING THE CORNER THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP.
