THE POWER STEERING FAILED IN 2015 WITH 65,900 MILES AND WAS REPAIRED AT A CHEVROLET DEALER THE CAR NOW HAS 94,000 MILES ON IT AND THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED AGAIN.ACCORDING TO GM THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ARE REPLACING DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH THE SAME. I CONTACTED GM CASE#9-4978065207 AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT THEY WOULD BE OF NO ASSISTANCE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE POWER STEERING FAILS WHILE DRIVING AND YOU HAVE TO STEER IT MANUALLY OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND NOT BE ABLE TO HIDE BEHIND SAYING THAT YOUR NUMBER VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THAT JUST BECAUSE ALL THESE PEOPLE HAVE POSTED THEIR SIMILAR PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET THAT IT DOESN'T MEAN ITS TRUE. WHEN DRIVING, 2 MESSAGES APPEARED ON DASH - "POWER STEERING" AND "SERVICE AIR BAG." WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR LATER, IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER, AND THE "ANTI-THEFT" LIGHT WAS ON, ALONG WITH THE OTHER 2 WARNING MESSAGES FROM ABOVE. AFTER OTHER LIGHTS TURNED OFF, THE "ANTI-THEFT" AND "SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT" REMAINED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. ODOMETER: 101844

MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE ON MY WAY HOME ON THE STREET AND THEN MY GEAR SHIFTED TO PARK WHILE AGAIN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. I HAVE BAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT I GOTTEN FIXED AND IT STILL ACTING UP BUT WHAT'S IS IMPORTANT IS THAT MY CAR IS NOT DRIVING AND I CANT START IT AT ALL. I WAS PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE ONE DAY AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A HEADLIGHT OUT. MAY 1ST, 2016 MY HUSBAND WENT TO CHANGE THE BULB (PASSENGER SIDE) AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ORIGINAL HEADLIGHT SOCKET ITSELF HAD COMPLETELY MELTED (IMAGES ATTACHED). I ORDERED A NEW SOCKET FOR IT, AND IT WORKED FOR A LITTLE WHILE BEFORE GOING OUT AGAIN ABOUT A MONTH LATER. THEN, THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND WE DISCOVERED ONCE AGAIN THAT BOTH HEADLIGHT SOCKETS HAD MELTED (IMAGES ATTACHED). SO WE REPLACED BOTH HEADLIGHT SOCKETS AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THEY LASTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AND THEY ARE BOTH OUT AGAIN AND I AM LEFT WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE MY HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON.ENGINE POWER REDUCED 99 %.SOMETIMES ENGINE DIES WHILE DRIVING 40-55 MPH.ENGINE CODE P2135 IS DISPLAYED ON MY CODE READER. THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY AFTER CYCLING THE IGNITION SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES.CAR IS UN-RELIABLE.THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE YOU TO CRASH THE CAR.I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED THE INFORMATION PANAL WAS NOT READING, IT CONSISTED OF MOSTLY DASHES. THE CAR WAS RUNNING MUCH LOUDER THAN NORMAL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT STARTED SAYING SERVICE TRACTION AND ENGINE POWER LOSS. I PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND LOCKS WENT UP AND DOWN RAPIDLY. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RE STARTED IT, ATTEMPTED TO SEE IF IT WOULD DRIVE BUT IT HAD NO POWER, COULD ONLY REVERSE AND THERE SEEMED TO BE NO POWER STEERING. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, THIS TIME NO IMMEDIATE ISSUE UNTIL I PULLED OUT ON TO THE STREET. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TIGHT, AND THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WAS ON THE DASH, ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHTS REMAINED ON. RESTARTED THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK AGAIN. THE CAR REMAINS AT THE DEALER AFTER BEING TOWED A WEEK AGO, AND THEY ARE UNSURE OF THE CAUSE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD ANY CONTROL OF THE CAR AND MOST DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT A POWER STEERING MESSAGE DISPLAYED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A CURB AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY REDUCES POWER, ENGINE LAMP COME ON OR BLINKS, RUNS ROUGH. THIS REDUCE POWER CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE AND ACCELERATOR DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AND OCCURS WHEN MOVING IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND THEN IT ALL STOPS. MECHANICS CANNOT RECREATE IT. IT IS SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FRACTURED AND A RUBBER SEAL ON THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS MY VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO LOCK. I HAD TO USE A LOT OF ENERGY AND MUSCLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I TOOK MY CAR TO SMICKLAS CHEVROLET IN OKLAHOMA CITY. THEY INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTUATOR SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS LEAKING BAD, LOSS OF STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS CAUSING FOR MANUEL STRENGTH AND TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS AT 85,000 MILES WITHIN THE 1ST I PURCHASED THE CAR
TIMING CHAIN ON V-6 MALIBU LTZ HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 62,000 MILES AND COST $1,700. TRAVELING WHEN ENGINE LIGHT CAM ON AND ONSTAR SAID POWERTRAIN ISSUE AND GET TO SHOP IMMEDIATELY. OIL CHANGED AT DEALER AND GM VERIFIED RECORDS. ONLY USED 89 OCTANE GAS. GM SHOULD BUMP UP POWERTRAIN WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES. TIMING CHAIN DEFECT IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
UPON ENTERING THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE SEAT OF MY DAUGHTER'S CAR, I NOTICED A STRONG FUEL SMELL. UPON RETURNING TO THE CAR, I NOTICED THE STRONG FUEL SMELL OUTSIDE THE CAR, TOO. WHEN WE STARTED LOOKING AROUND UNDER THE CAR, WE SAW FUEL LEAKING ONTO THE PARKING LOT. THE CAR HAS 68,000 MILES. THE INDEPENDENT GARAGE SHE TOOK IT TO SAID THE PLASTIC PART OF THE FUEL LINE WAS LEAKING AND REPLACED THE FUEL LINE ASSEMBLY AND FUEL PUMP. A $740 REPAIR FOR A YOUNG WOMAN IN HER FIRST JOB AFTER GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE. WE ALSO OWN A CHEVY COBALT, WHICH GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL IN WARM WEATHER STATES FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. I CALLED GM AND A VICE PRESIDENT TOLD ME THIS WOULDN'T BE A COVERED REPAIR. I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF A CIGARETTE HAD BEEN THROWN DOWN BY HER CAR. SHE DID TAKE A PICTURE, WHICH I WILL GET TO UPLOAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 ( ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BCM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

THE POWER STEERING TENDS TO FREEZE FOR A SPLIT SECOND WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL OF THE TIME BUT DOES SEEM TO HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE ON MOUNTAIN ROADS THAT REQUIRE MORE TURNING OR WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN FOR LONG PERIOD OF TIMES. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT AND I CALLED CHEVROLET AND THE GAVE ME A SENIOR ADVISER WHO ASKED WHAT DO I EXPECT FROM CHEVROLET AND ALSO ASKED IF I WAS IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW CAR. I HUNG UP ON THEM AND RESPONDED TO THEIR EMAIL.
MY GAS TANK STARTED LEAKING FOR NO REASON (NO WEAR AND TEAR-EVERY MECHANIC SAID THAT IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF), MY POWER WINDOWS AND LOCK STOPPED WORKING 2 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $300 TO FIX EACH MOTOR FOR THE DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, MY AC ALSO HAVE ISSUES; THE SENSOR AND THERMOSTAT HAS BEEN CHANGED 6 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 4 YEARS. I AM SICK OF ALL OF THESE ISSUES AND HAVE NO ASSISTANCE WITH IT. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS HERE, COINCIDENTALLY, MY WARRANTY WAS UP ON EVERY ISSUE I FACED. GM HAS REALLY TAKEN A LOT OF MONEY OUT OF MY POCKETS. I WAS INFORMED OF THE POWER STEERING ISSUE AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WOULD BE IN THE SHOP FOR 1 DAY, WHICH TURNED INTO 5 DAYS, AND I WAS DENIED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE RENTAL FEES, WHICH WERE ALMOST $600. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES, BECAUSE MY CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE FOR MYSELF AND 3 CHILDREN. THE WINDOWS WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN AT TIMES, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR NOT. THE AC IS THE SAME ISSUE, THE PARTS WILL GO OUT WHETHER I AM DRIVING IT OR NOT. THE GAS LEAK ISSUE IS AWFUL, BECAUSE THE CAR WREAKS OF GAS, AND MY CAR BURNS GAS WHETHER IT IS POWERED ON OR NOT. THE DOOR LOCKS HAVE NOT WORKED SINCE THE END OF 2010 AND WE HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK. THE ISSUES WITH MY CAR ARE THERE 24/7, AND HAPPENS IF THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR NOT. ALTHOUGH, THE ISSUES I HAVE BEEN HAVING HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE, EXCEPT THE GAS LEAK ISSUE WHICH IS RECENTLY, I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT PUT THE START AS TODAY'S PRESENT DATE, BECAUSE EACH ISSUE STARTED AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND CONTINUE TO CAUSE ISSUES, EVEN AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR WITH SOME ISSUES.

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND I ONLY HAVE 71000 MILE ON MY CAR, SHOULDN'T IT BE STILL UNDER WARRANTY? PLEAS ADVISE
RECALL WAS DONE IN NOV. 2014 AT RYAN CHEVROLET IN MINOT, ND. ON OCT. 3, 2015 THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. TOOK CAR IN TO GATEWAY CHEVROLET IN FARGO, ND. REPAIRS WERE MADE AND WAS TOLD BY THEM THAT EITHER THE RECALL HAD BEEN DONE INCORRECTLY OR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE.
VEHICLE IS STRONG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE REAR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY CONFIRMED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LEAK. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUES BY GM TO FIX THIS ISSUE ON THE CHEVROLET MALIBU.
GM ISSUED A NOTICE DATED SEPTEMBER 2015 STATING THAT PROBLEMS WITH THE EPS MAY CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING POWER. NOTICE ALSO STATES THAT I AM NOT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER UNLESS THE EVENT ACTUALLY HAPPEN AND HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE. I FEEL THAT THIS OCCURENCE COULD PUT MY SAFETY AT RISK ESPECIALLY IN TIGHT TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING ON US-10, A HIGH TRAFFIC FREEWAY IN PHOENIX AZ, THE CAR REDUCED SPEED TO ABOUT 30 MPH. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE THIS RATE! SO MY SON WAS SUDDENLY STUCK IN ONE OF THE PASSING LANES ON A VERY BUSY FOUR LANE FREEWAY. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TRYING TO MANEUVER OFF THE FREEWAY. SEVERAL CODES APPEARED ON THE DASH; CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE TRACTION, AND SOMETHING ABOUT AIR BAGS. HE MANAGED HIS WAY OFF THE FREEWAY AND 'LIMPED' THE CAR HOME.
WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR IT DRIVES FINE. IN THE MORNING WHEN I TRY TO LEAVE AT 7 OR 8 IT REFUSES TO TURN ON UNTIL IT IS WARM I GUESS. THERE'S DEFINITELY AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAT FOR 2 MONTHS AND WHEN IT DOES START IT SAYS POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ESC. SOMETIMES I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE OVER 20. IT'S DEFINITELY AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS RECALLED.
STARTED AS PASSENGER DOOR SOMETIMES WOULDN'T UNLOCK WITH REMOTES OR BY EITHER DOOR PASSENGER OR DRIVERS DOOR LOCK CONTROL. GRADUALLY DOOR WOULDN'T LOCK OR UNLOCK OTHER THAN MANUALLY. THEN THE SAME HAPPENED WITH PASSENGER BK DOOR, DRIVERS BK DOOR, THEN DRIVER DOOR. NOW ONLY ENTRY IS WITH THE KEY.IT DOESN'T MATTER IF CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT. THIS IS A INCONVIENT PROBLEM AS MUCH AS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE. MY HUSBAND IS DISABLED AND MUST WAIT IN RAIN/SNOW/COLD/HEAT UNTIL I UNLOCK DRIVERS DOOR WITH KEY AND SLIDE ACROSS TO MANUALLY UNLOCK PASSENGER DOOR. AS FAR AS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE, DOORS MUST SOMETIMES WHEN MOTOR IS TURNED OFF THE BACK DOORS WILL UNLOCK BUT THEY DON'T LOCK AGAIN WHEN CAR IS RESTARTED. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING WITH DOORS UNLOCKED SO I HAVE TO GET INTO BACK SEAT TO REACH THE PASSENGER DOOR TO LOCK IT BEFORE DRIVING (A SAFETY ISSUE). ALSO, IF I HAVE OTHER PASSENGERS I HAVE TO GET INTO BACK TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR THEM. THIS BEGAN ABOUT 2 YRS AGO AND PROGRESSED TO THE CURRENT PROBLEM ABOUT A YR AGO. IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS A BAD SENSOR I SUPPOSE BUT I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER MALIBU OWNERS AND THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. THIS IS A PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY FOR SENIOR OR HANDICAPPED DRIVERS.
AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT SHOWS ON AND OFF ADVISING THAT THE AIRBAG SYSTEM NEEDS CHECKED.
ELECTRICAL AND MODULE PROBLEMS SAFETY HAZARDS WITH TRACTION CONTROL. TC ON WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE. FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEMS. CAR POWERS OFF DURING DRIVING. GM REFUSED REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGING 120 TO LOOK AT. HAD TO DISCONNECT FUSES AND HAD TO PULL ACTUATORS PRESSURE. SENSORS FUEL AND ELECTRICAL. DOOR LATCHES GOING UP AND DOWN EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF. CANNOT DRIVE HIGHWAY. GM REFUSED VEHICLE FROM REPAIR OR COMPENSATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE UNDERNEATH THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN MAKING TURNS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDED AN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT AND THE RACKING PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMING FROM THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
KNOCKING IN STEERING WHEN TURNING WHEEL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, WHICH SHOULD NOT KNOCK CONSIDERING THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 27,450 FOR MILAGE. HOW CAN I VERIFY IF THIS WAS A RECALL THAT WAS ALREADY COMPLETED. PLEASE FORWARD WEB SITE.

I WAS DRIVING MY CHEVY MALIBU AND STARTED TO FELL MY CAR START TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND THEN MY SERVICE ESC WAS POPULATING ON THE DASH AND TRACTION CONTROL HAD BEEN LOST IN THE CAR. I WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY BREAKING AS IF THE ABS BREAK SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING IN THE CAR.I GOT THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ENDED UP HITTING A GUARD RAIL. I THEN FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS MULTIPLE RECALLS ISSUED ON MY VEHICLE AND I CALLED THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SUPPORT TO DISCUSS THE CURRENT RECALL WHICH APPEARED TO BE THE ISSUE. I WAS INSTRUCTED THAT I COULD DROP MY CAR OFF AT BEST CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND WOULD ASSIST ME. I DROPPED MY CAR OFF, EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. THEY CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THE RECALL WASN'T THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGHT EVERYTHING I EXPERIENCED WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL.

POWER STEERING LOSES POWER STEERING CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY. TOOK IT TO CHEVY DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THE STEERING MODULE IS DEFECTIVE. CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 38K MILES ON IT. LOSS OF POWER STEERING CONTROL CAN HAPPEN WHEN CAR IS EITHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.
MANY BULLETIN'S POSTED #09-07-30-012. MY 2008 CHEVY MALIBU HAD ABOUT 85K MILES ON IT. I HAD ONLY OWNED IT FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS AND BOUGHT IT USED AS A COLLEGE STUDENT AND HAD AN OUTSTANDING LOAN ON IT. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING AND STARTED TO NOTICE WHEN ACCELERATING GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY THAT IT WAS TAKING MORE TIME FOR MY CAR TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY CAR WAS IT TAKING EVEN LONGER TO SHIFT FROM 3RD TO 5TH GEAR THEN IT WOULD ABRUPTLY SHIFT INTO GEAR DELAYED. I FIGURED MAYBE IT NEED TRANSMISSION FLUID SINCE IT ONLY HAD 85K ON IT, AND THEN WHEN I WOULD REVERSE IT WAS VERY LOOSE FEELING. BROUGHT IN TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. QUOTED ME 2200 FOR A USED TRANSMISSION. LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM JUST OUT OF COLLEGE SO DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY UP FRONT YET AND I HAD A LOAN ON THE CAR STILL. CHEVY SAID I WASN'T UNDER 100K MILE WARRANTY BC CAR WAS MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD. I LIVE ON MY OWN AND NEED A SAFE VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK EVERYDAY AND DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A USED TRANSMISSION UP FRONT SO HAD NO CHOICE TO GO LEASE A CAR AND TRADE THIS NOW WORTHLESS CAR WITH THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE IN THAT I HAD A LOAN ON. SO CAR WAS WORTH A LOT LESS NOW THAN MY LOAN SO I WENT INTO A NEW DEAL WITH NEGATIVE EQUITY RESULTING ME TAKING ON HUGE CAR PAYMENT TO GET OUT OF THIS MESS. CHEVY OR GM NEED TO RECALL THIS DEFECT AND TAKE CARE OF THE CUSTOMERS AFFECTED AND COMPENSATE THOSE WHO WERE AFFECTED AND TOOK A HUGE LOSS IN $ DUE THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE GM SHOULD BE COMPENSATING ME SOMETHING FOR HOW MUCH MONEY I JUST LOST UNLESS THEY WANT TO BE KNOWN AS A COMPANY WHO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND SELLS CARS THAT TRANSMISSIONS GO WAY BEFORE 100K MILES....I WILL NEVER BUY OR RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN IF THEY DO NOT RECTIFY WITH GOOD PAYING CUSTOMERS.

REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL NOT APPLIED. ALSO AFFECTS CRUISE CONTROL. I ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT ON BUSY HIGHWAY. APPARENTLY MY BRAKE LIGHTS HAD BEEN ON AND WHEN I NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND MY LIGHTS WENT OUT. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO BE REAR-ENDED. I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW AS BEING IN RECALL FOR ISSUE.

THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM IN MY CAR IS GOING OFF RESULTING IN MY CAR NOT BEING ABLE TO START. I AM A OWNER OF A 08 CHEVY MALIBU LT 2.4 LITER. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR FROM THE DEALER (USED) FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS IT WAS RUNNING FINE WITH JUST LITTLE MAINTENANCE. WHEN THE THIRD YEAR COMES AROUND I START HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT. I'VE LOOKED UP FIXES FOR THESE PROBLEMS AND I'M CURRENTLY INVESTED OVER 5,000 ON FIXING THIS PROBLEM AND IT'S STILL NOT FIXED THE DEALER DIDN'T FIX IT OTHER AUTO SHOPS COULDN'T FIX IT AND IT THE ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT ON THE CAR SOMETIMES N SHUTS OFF WHERE IT SITS (LIKE IN BUSY TRAFFIC). I HAVE A [XXX] SON AND I DONT TRUST PUTTING HIM IN MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM OF STALLING OUT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO START BACK UP. VEHICAL WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, PLACED IN THE PARK POSTION, AND KEY REMOVED FROM IGNIATION, WITHOUT INCIDENT. AS DRIVER EXITED THE VEHICAL, THE VEHICAL PROCEEDED TO ROLL AWAY. DRIVER RE-ENTERED THE VEHICAL TO TRY AND START THE VEHICAL, BUT WOULD NOT START. CAR APPEARED TO BE IN THE PARK POSITION AS PER THE INDICATION OF THE GEAR SHIFTER. TO PREVENT THE VEHICAL FROM CONTINUE TO BE MOBIL, DRIVER HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGANCY BREAK.
THE POWER LOCKS ON MY CAR ARE NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. THEY DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WHEN I NEED THEM TO. I PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE CAR DOOR AND/ OR ON MY KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE AND SOME LOCKS UNLOCK/LOCK AND SOME DON'T. IT IS MORE PREVALENT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS 60F AND ABOVE. THE ISSUE STARTED LAST SUMMER. I THOUGHT IT HAD SUBSIDED SINCE IT WENT AWAY DURING THE COOLER MONTHS. NOW THAT IT HAS WARMED UP AGAIN IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE. THE PROBLEM USE TO BE LIMITED TO THE REAR DRIVER DOOR. NOW IT HAPPENS TO ANY DOOR WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. WHILE PRESSING THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON THE LOCKS SEEM TO WANT TO WORK BUT THEY DON'T. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS FOR ME SINCE I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME 90% OF THE TIME. DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH IT SEEMS THAT LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE. OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES RANGE FROM THE 2008 TO 2012 MODELS SIMILAR TO MY CAR. INVESTIGATIONS THIS ISSUE AND FINDING A ROOT CAUSE MAY BE BENEFICIAL EVEN IF A RECALL IS NOT ISSUED. AT LEAST OWNERS WILL KNOW WHAT IS WRONG AND HOW TO FIX IT. I WAS QUOTED $350 PER DOOR TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND WAS NOT GIVEN A GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD ACTUALLY REMEDIATE IT. WHICH IS QUITE RIDICULOUS.
