A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK, NECK, LEG, AND ARMS, WHICH CONTINUOUSLY REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. I WAS DRIVING AN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN A LARGE CURVE. 8 HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BUT LUCKILY WAS NOT INJURED. GM RECENTLY SENT OUT AN "EXTENDED WARRANTY" ON TH POWER STEERING MODULE ONLY. THIS WAS REPLACED. IN MAY OF 2014 GM SENT OUT RECALL 13036 THAT INCLUDED MY CAR. THIS RECALL IS NOT PULLING UP ON MY VIN. THE LETTER STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR A FIX. I HAVE LIGHTS AND BELLS THAT MY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL IS NOT WORKING. THEY FOUND AT YHE DEALER THAT AT LEAST ONCE I HAVE HAD A BRAKE ERROR. IN THE RECALL LETTER IT STATES THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS MAY FUNCTION WHEN I AM NOT BRAKING OR THEY MAY NOT FUNCTION WHEN I AM. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR! PLEASE PUSH FOR A RESOLUTION TO THIS RECALL.

TOOK MY CAR IN TO DEALER BECAUSE IT STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY GOING 20 MPH, NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION IS WHAT I WAS TOLD, HAD THE TRANSMISSION PUT IN AND NOW THE ESC, AND OTHER LIGHTS ARE ON!
6/6/2015 CAR WAS SITTING IN PARKING LOT. UPON TRYING TO START THE CAR ERRORS FOR ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER SHOWED UP. CAR WAS SPUTTERING AND RUNNING ROUGH. TURNED CAR OFF. WAITED A LITTLE WHILE AND STARTED CAR AGAIN AND NO ERROR MESSAGES. BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE ERROR CODE THAT CAME UP WAS P2101. 6/10/2015 SAME THING HAPPENED. LET THE CAR SIT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND TRIED TO START AGAIN. SMELLED HEAVILY OF GAS WHEN IT STARTED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, DESPITE BEING UNLOCKED. THE DOOR WAS UNACCESSIBLE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR. MANUALLY LOCKED AND UNLOCKED, USED THE LOCK/UNLOCK DEVICE ON THE KEY RING, PRESSED CHILDLOCK ON AND OFF- UNSUCCESSFUL. THERE ARE SEVERAL INSTANCES NOTED ON ON-LINE BLOGS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THE CAR DEALERSHIP STATED THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE LATCH, COSTING ~$367 FOR REPAIR. THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE 30K OR 100K MILE WARRANTY. DOES A RECALL NEED TO BE ISSUED?
I OWN A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATES & SAYS TO SERVICE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO A GM REPAIR SHOP SEVERAL MONTH AGO & THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. IT WENT OFF FOR A WHILE & NOW IT'S BACK ON. IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED.

DRIVER'S DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AND LATCH PROPERLY OR UNLOCK/UNLATCH TO OPEN. THIS HAS STARTED OCCURRING FREQUENTLY. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FAILURES THAT DEALERS ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO FIX FOR HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS EACH TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, IT IS A GAMBLE, AS TO WHETHER THE DOOR WILL LATCH, OR UNLATCH, PROPERLY, AS NEEDED. IF THIS VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, I AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT THE DOOR WILL OPEN, EVEN IF IT IS AN UNDAMAGED ONE, DUE TO THE FAILING LOCK/LATCH MECHANISM. I AM REPLACING THIS AT MY COST BUT FEEL THAT THE MANUFACTURER BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAULTY PARTS/DESIGN. THANKFULLY, NO ONE IN MY FAMILY HAS BEEN INJURED, YET. I FEAR THAT THIS COULD BE AN ISSUE DURING TIMES OF GREAT STRESS THAT CAN AND WILL LEAD TO FATALITIES, IF LEFT UNADDRESSED.
AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT REMAINS ON AND WILL NOT RESET!! STARTED AFTER 1525 MILES ON CAR. CAR WAS UNDRIVEN FOR 5 YEARS. DEALER SAYS NOT WARRANTY PROBLEM!!!!

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE I SUDDENLY FELT A LIGHT JERKING SENSATION. THE SERVICE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS IMMEDIATELY CAME ON. THE VEHICLE JERKED TO A STOP. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTARTED THE INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE GONE. I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS AND HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP. THE CERTIFIED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING. THE CAR DID WELL FOR A LITTLE OVER A WEEK. NOW THE PROBLEM IS REOCCURRING. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO FOUND CODES FOR A FUEL INJECTION FAILURE BUT WERE NOT ABLE TO "DUPLICATE" THE CODES SO NO REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THAT. THE SERVICE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS. IF I DIDN'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK I WOULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD AS I AM A LONG DISTANCE COMMUTER. I HAVE HAD ALL SERVICE AND RECALLS COMPLETED SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. DANGEROUS!! I'M HOPEFUL THAT OUR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS WILL FORCE GM TO ISSUE A RECALL TO REMEDY THE ISSUE BEFORE PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES.

GM ISSUED A RECALL FOR MY 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU ON MAY 6, 2015. IT IS NOW MID SEPTEMBER 2015 AND THEY HAVE NOT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY AT 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE SHIFT LEVER WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT-HAND TURN AND THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY CEASED, FORCING ME TO STEER MANUALLY. I WAS NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN, I HAD TO STOP QUICKLY AND RESUME MY DIRECTION OF TRAVEL PRIOR TO TURNING. IF THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF WHERE I INTENDED TO TURN, MOST LIKELY I WOULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH THAT VEHICLE. I HAD TO USE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FORCE TO MANUALLY STEER THE VEHICLE AFTER LOSING THE POWER STEERING. ALSO, AS A RESULT OF THE POWER STEERING FAILURE, THE VEHICLE ESC BECAME INOPERABLE. I WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE THE CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER AND WAS ADVISED I NEED A NEW ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR AND OTHER PARTS TOTALING APPROXIMATELY $1200. I ADVISED CHEVROLET OF THIS SITUATION AND CURRENTLY AWAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM. I REGARD THIS PRODUCT FAILURE AS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH POTENTIAL RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY. FUEL PUMP FAILED(STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY) WHILE PARKED AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER. LUCKILY I WAS NOT DRIVING WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THIS IS AS SERIOUS AN ISSUE AS THE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM IF NOT MORE SO. I,SEE MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THEY ARE DRIVING AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. CARS SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS MANY FUEL PUMP ISSUES AT THE TIME THEY ARE OCCURRING. THE PROBLEM IS COMPOUNDED WHEN THE VEHICLE RUNS POORLY AND IS MISDIAGNOSED FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM AND UNNECESSARY REPAIR. PLEASE MAKE GM ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THE LAST TIME, TODAY, ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED DUE TO THE ENGINE FLUCTUATING BETWEEN ABOUT 200 AND 1500 RPM. AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A DEALER TO HAVE RECALL #14V252000 ADDRESSED. THIS SEEMED TO SOLVE THE ISSUE BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN TELLING ME THERE'S OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING ELSE WRONG. THROUGH ON-LINE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH ALMOST AS MANY SUPPOSED CAUSES. ON 3/28/15 I PURCHASED A 2011 CHEVY MALIBU FROM RAINBOW CHEVROLET IN LAPLACE LOUISIANA. WHEN TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED A VERY SMALL AND HARDLY NOTICEABLE JERK WHEN THE CAR CHANGED INTO 2ND GEAR. I WAS TOLD BY THE SALESMAN THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND I TOOK HIS WORD FOR IT. ALMOST 7 MONTHS LATER, THE ISSUE HAS GOTTEN 1000 X'S WORSE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL NOW. THE JERK IS VIOLENT AND IT NOW JERKS WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK, DRIVE AND REVERSE. PULLING OFF SLOWLY, MAKES THE CAR JERK VERY HARD. IF YOU APPLY MORE GAS WHEN TAKING OFF,THE JERK IS NOT AS BAD BUT IT'S STILL BAD. THE CAR DID NOT COME WITH A WARRANTY BUT I WAS OK WITH THAT BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT CAR HAD BEEN INSPECTED THOROUGHLY, THAT AN ELDERLY COUPLE PREVIOUSLY OWNED THE CAR, THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND I HAD ALSO JUST GOTTEN RID OF A 2005 MALIBU THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN WHICH I HAD NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH. I PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER IN COLLEGE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND ON THE CHEVROLET MALIBU FORUM IN REGARDS TO THE SAME PROBLEM AS WELL AS OTHER PROBLEMS. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 53,803 MILES WHICH IS NOT VERY MUCH IN CAR YEARS AND I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY ISSUES DOCUMENTED THAT I AM HAVING. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, I AM UNABLE TO FILL UP THE CAR WITH GAS. IT STOPS AT ABOUT TANK AND STARTS TO SPILL OUT. THIS WAS NOTICED SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR ALSO. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER WHO IS IN COLLEGE AND IT IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON A FAIRLY BUSY 2 LANE STREET. WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR LOST POWER. A MESSAGE APPEARED IN THE INFORMATION SCREEN INDICATING SOMETHING LIKE "REDUCED POWER TO THE ENGINE". ALSO, A MESSAGE INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS OPERATING UNDER REDUCED POWER MODE BECAUSE I NEEDED TO SERVICE ESC, AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS DISPLAYED AS WELL ON THE DASHBOARD. I WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO GET THE CAR PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD AND INTO A PARKING LOT. I READ THE OWNERS MANUAL AND ESSENTIALLY FOUND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING IN "LIMP MODE". I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THIS TO BE A "COMMON PROBLEM" FOR CHEVY MALIBU MODELS. MY CAR WAS, OF COURSE, OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT COVERED UNDER ANY SORT OF RECALL, SO I HAD TO PAY ABOUT $500 FOR THE REPAIR. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING LOST POWER. HAD THIS OCCURRED WHEN TRYING TO PULL ACROSS A HEAVY INTERSECTION OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS INJURY. 2/28/15 TWITCH IN STEERING AT 55 MPH. (5 TWITCH/8 MI.) HAD BEEN SNOWY WITH SUBZERO TEMPS, AND SUSPECTED ICE IN STEERING LINKAGE. FOLLOWING DAY EXHIBITED SAME TWITCHES, BUT FEWER. BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE WHEN STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. MESSAGES ON DRIVER INFORMATION: POWER STEERING FAILURE, ESC REQUIRES SERVICE, AND A YELLOW TRIANGLE WITH WAVY MARKS WAS ILLUMINATED. DROVE 2.25 MI TO RELATIVE'S HOME. TURNED CAR OFF & RESTARTED; POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN. NEXT DAY CHECKED FUSE CONNECTIONS ON PASSENGER SIDE OF CONSOLE, AND UNDER HOOD NEAR BATTERY. 80A POWER STEERING FUSE WAS LOOSE ON ONE SIDE. NUTS SECURELY TIGHTENED, BUT RIVETS ON FUSE BODY WERE LOOSE; LUG COULD BE MOVED APPROX 1/32". REPLACED FUSE, AND WORKED BETTER. THEN NOTICED THAT TWITCHING HAD RETURNED; WAS PREVALENT WITH VEHICLE STOPPED AND RUNNING. ON WED DROVE VEHICLE TO PICKUP LUNCH,; STEERING WHEEL WAS TWITCHING WITH CAR IN PARK AND ENGINE RUNNING. USED REMOTE START SYSTEM TO LET ENGINE RUN AS IT WAS NEAR 0 F AND HAD ONLY DRIVEN 3 MI. RETURNED TO CAR WITHIN 10 MIN REMOTE START RUN TIME, INSERTED KEY; POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK & SAME MESSAGES DISPLAYED. STOPPED & RESTARTED CAR; POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK. ARRANGED FOR REPAIR, AND DROVE CAR TO SHOP LATER THAT AFTERNOON; POWER STEERING WORKED, BUT LOTS OF TWITCHING. STEERING COLUMN REPLACED DUE TO STEERING WHEEL TORQUE SENSOR CODE C0545. POWER STEERING FAILED AND FOUGHT ME AS EVIDENCED BY UNEVEN JERKY TURNING FORCE. SYSTEM ALLOWED STEERING WHEEL TO RUN ABOUT 1/8 TURN, AND THEN DAMPENED TURNING. HAVE A SORE RIGHT SHOULDER. FORCE REQUIRED TO STEER WITHOUT POWER STEERING IS INEXCUSABLE. SYSTEM DOES NOT DISENGAGE WHEN IT FAILS, AND INTERMITTENTLY INTERACTS WHILE DISPLAY INDICATES IT'S OUT OF COMMISSION.
