I WAS ON THE WAY TO WORK WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO JUMP, SPUTTER AND THEN STOPPED COMPLETELY, WAS GOING ON TO THE EXPRESSWAY. THE ENGINE REDUCED POWER LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AS DID MANY OTHER LIGHTS. TRIED TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON BUT DID NOT START, WAITED A BIT AND FINALLY GOT THE CAR RUNNING. TOOK TO MY AUTO MECHANIC AND STATED IT WAS THE ECS AND THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE LOOKED AND THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT SAME ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING TODAY AT 70RPM WITH THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND WAS LUCKY ENOUGH FOR GET OFF THE HIGHWAY PRIOR TO CAR COMPLETELY STOPPING. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WHY IS CHEVROLET WAITING UNTIL SOMEONE IS INJURY OR WORST YET KILLED BEFORE A RECALL IS DONE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON CITY STREET, CAR LOST POWER. WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED, REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND ESC WARNINGS. CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY, SLOWED TO 5 MPH MAX. PULLED OVER. TURNED OFF CAR FOR ABOUT A MINUTE. RESTARTED CAR, SEEMED FINE. SINCE I HAPPENED TO BE ONLY ABOUT A MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I DECIDED TO TRY AND MAKE IT. AT STOPLIGHT, CAR DID SAME THING, VIOLENT SHAKING, ALL WARNING LIGHTS. THANKFULLY, I MADE IT INTO DEALER LOT. TURNED CAR OFF. HAD TO RE-START TO PULL TO SERVICE DOOR. AGAIN, DID FINE. WAITING TO HEAR FROM DEALER. VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE TO SUDDENLY LOSE ENGINE POWER. AGREE WITH OTHER COMPLAINANTS...IF THIS HAPPENS MID-INTERSECTION OR ON THE INTERSTATE LIVES ARE AT RISK. *TR
2011 MALIBU. I HAVE MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THE SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL & ENGINE POWER REDUCED MESSAGES APPEARING. IT HAPPENS AT VARIOUS TIMES. THE CAR WILL START SPUTTERING AND JERKING THEN THE DIFFERENT CODES START FLASHING ON THE CONSOLE. THE CAR REDUCES SPEED AND WILL NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. IT'S HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON SIDE STREETS AND HIGHWAY GOING SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 65 MPH AND WHEN TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AN D IS BECOMING EXTREMELY IRRITATING AND AN INCONVENIENCE. ON THE FIRST INCIDENT, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHICH THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. LESS THAN TWO MONTHS WENT BY AND THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER IN APRIL, 2015 AND IN MAY 2015 IN WHICH THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AS OF 5/24/15 THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. OUT OF 265 COMPLAINTS ON HERE, I FIND THAT 103 OF THEM IS THIS EXACT PROBLEM THEREFORE THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR IS SERIOUSLY INJURED.
I WAS DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I-95 IN THE RIGHT LANE AND PRIOR TO PASSING THE PHILADELPHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MY WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE THEY WERE IN USE. I WAS PETRIFIED BECAUSE WATER WAS ACCUMULATING RAPIDLY ON TO MY WINDSHIELD AND THE MOTORIST WHOM WERE PASSING ME INCREASED THE DANGER TEN FOLD BECAUSE THEIR VEHICLES WERE SPLASHING WATER ON TO MY WINDSHIELD AS WELL. MY VISIBILITY WENT DOWN TO ABOUT TEN PERCENT; HOWEVER, DUE TO THE PASSING MOTORIST THAT QUICKLY DECREASED TO ZERO MAKING IT VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. FURTHERMORE, DURING THE FRIGHTENING INCIDENT I KEPT MY COMPOSURE AND SLOWED DOWN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE UNTIL I COULD PROCEED TO THE SHOULDER. FOLLOWING THIS INCIDENT MY CONFIDENCE IN AMERICAN AUTOMOBILES HAS VANISHED AND AS A RESULT I WILL NO LONGER PURCHASE AMERICAN MANUFACTURED AUTOMOBILES IN THE FUTURE. MOREOVER, FOR THOSE WHOM MIGHT BE WONDERING I OWN A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU IT HAD A LITTLE LESS THAN 82,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME AND NO THERE WAS NOTHING OBSTRUCTING THE WIPERS TO CAUSE THEM TO FAIL AT THE TIME. *TR
DRIVING 2011 CHEVY MALIBU LTZ LIGHT CAME ON.GOT MESSAGE SAYING ENGINE POWERING DOWN.CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND SPEED DROPPED TO ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR.PULLED INTO CVS PHARMACY LOT.TURNED CAR OFF AND RE-STARTED.DROVE AROUND LOT FOR 1 MINUTE.JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO PULL OFF LOT AND ENTER EXPRESSWAY.CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY.UNABLE TO RE-START.WAITED 2 HOUR'S FOR TOW ON STAR ROAD SIDE SERVICE.PLAN TO HAVE CAR TOWED MONDAY MORNING.WILL CHECK FOR ESC RECALL ON THIS CAR. *TR
MY CAR WILL NOT START. IT TURNS OVER BUT WON'T START. BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED, GAS TANK FULL, WIRING IS GOOD, SPARK PLUGS ARE BRAND NEW, JUST WON'T START AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. *TR
SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON (ECS AND TRACTION CONTROL) AND THE DISPLAY READ, "LOSS OF POWER". I WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THE CAR SLOWED TO ABOUT 15MPH. I WAS UNABLE TO INCREASE MY SPEED. AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH IN A PARKING LOT, AND WAITING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I STARTED THE CAR AND IT RAN FINE. HOWEVER, ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED 6 TIMES WHILE TRYING TO GET IT TO BERGSTROM CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM ONLY MADE IT WORSE, AND THE SECOND TIME A NEW THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS INSTALLED. THIS REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. ON MY SON'S CHEVY TRUCK THE SAME PROBLEM WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL, BUT ON MY MALIBU I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT. ON THE INTERNET I WAS ABLE TO FIND SIX PAGES OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS THAT OTHER MALIBU OWNERS HAD. THEY TOO WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM COULD HAVE, AND MAYBE HAS, CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS AND I ASSUME INJURIES. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND I SHOULD BE COMPLETELY REIMBURSED FOR MY REPAIR EXPENSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT SHOOK AND THE TRACTION, THE ESC AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FIVE OCCASIONS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
STARTED THE CAR UP. ESC AND REDUCE POWER WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TODAY 2/24/2015 MAKES THE 4TH TIME IT HAS DONE THAT. TODAY AS I WAS RIDING ALONG IT DONE IT. CAR STALLS AND JUMPS. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. ONLY HAD THE CAR A YEAR STARTING AT 65000 MILES. *JS
ON MY WAY TO WORK, I NOTICED THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. CAR GOT ME TO WORK FINE. CHECKED GAS CAP JUST TO BE SURE THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. OFF WORK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON, BUT CAR RUNNING FINE. DID SOME RUNNING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. GOT IN THE CAR TO GO HOME THE LIGHT WASN'T ON, SO IM THINKING MAYBE A SENOR BAD. DRIVING HOME WHICH WAS ABOUT A 30 MINUTE DRIVE. ABOUT HALF MILE FROM MY EXIT ON THE HIGHWAY AND ENGINE LIGHT POPS ON, ESC LIGHT POPS ON, REDUCED ENGINE SPEED FOLLOWS. THANKFULLY I MAD IT HOME. PRESSURED ON STAR FOR AN ON DEMAND DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND ITS MY THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM. ITS AN 2011 MALIBU, NEXT MONTH MAKES A YEAR THAT IVE HAD IT. ALSO THE THIRD TIME ITS GOING TO THE SHOP. FIRST TIME WAS THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, THE U JOINT DISLOCATED LOST ALL POWER TO STEER, THANK GOD IT HAPPENED IN MY PARKING LOT AT HOME FRESH OFF THE HIGHWAY. CHEVY ONLY PAID HALF AND AFTER A MONTH BATTLE WITH THEM, KICKER WAS IT WAS A RECALL FOR THAT BUT MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED. SECOND TIME WAS FOR LEAKING TRANSMISSION. SO DISAPPOINTED WITH CHEVY AND PAST FED UP. *TR
DRIVING DURING SNOW AND ICE, ESC INDICATOR CAME ON, PUSHED THE TC AND IT DIDN'T WORK PROPERLY, THE CAR GOES ONLY ABOUT 20MPH WITH JERKING MOTION, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON, FLUID FROM SOMEWHERE DRAIN ON THE GROUND UNDERNEATH THE CAR. TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON. CAR SAT STILL FOR ABOUT 7 HOURS AND STILL DID THE SAME THING. *TR

THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,533.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECREASED TO 10 MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
IN FEBRUARY 2015 MY CHEVROLET MALIBU HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A WIRING ISSUE. DURING RESEARCH IT SEEMED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL. MORE RECENTLY ON 09/16/2015 MY VEHICLE HAD ANOTHER ELECTRONIC PROBLEM WHERE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WOULD SHUTDOWN CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN WHILE TRAVELING AT 40 MPG. THIS ISSUE HAD HAPPENED IN THE PAST THAT PREVENTED ME FROM STARTING MY CAR AND EVERY ELECTRONIC DEVICE IN THE CAR WOULD FLASH AND BEEP/CLICK OUT OF CONTROL. BUT IN THIS MORE RECENT CASE IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. ALSO AFTER MORE RESEARCH IT LOOKS AS IF OTHER DRIVERS OF THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE, SOME STATING THAT THAT IS THE WORST YEAR OF THAT MODEL THEY EVER OWNED AND I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. AT THE TIME I HAD MY CHILD IN THE CAR WITH ME. I COULD NOT STOP WONDERING WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED MINUTES EARLIER WHEN I HAS IN A BUSY HIGHWAY UNDER AZ HEAT WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING WORKING BECAUSE THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. GM HAS NOT HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION WITH THE THE QUALITY OF THEIR VEHICLES, SPECIALLY WITH ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. IF THE CAR ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS SHUT DOWN, WOULD THE AIR BAGS ACTIVATE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT? CODES: P0113, P1668 MAF (MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR) HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW ONCE AFTER INCIDENT AND ISSUES HAVE CONTINUED.

WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT DROVE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OTHER OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,200.

I WAS SLOWING DOWN AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 10MPH. SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS AS TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE AGAIN, THE CAR WOULD BARELY CRAWL FORWARD. THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. AGAIN, I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND ON AND THIS TIME THE CAR SEEMED TO DRIVE AS NORMAL, HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. I'M JUST HAPPY THAT I WASN'T TRAVELING AT A HIGHER SPEED AND THAT NO ONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I HAVE READ ON CHEVY FORUMS THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. HOPEFULLY CHEVY CAN FIND AN ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AND THE ESC, TRACTION CONTROL, AND REDUCED POWER WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. *TR
REPLACED INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ON FEB 12, 2015. WAS TOLD NOT INCLUDED UNDER CERTIFIED WARRANTY. ALSO NOT INCLUDED IN RECALLL. WOULD LIKE CONSIDERATION OF REFUND OF REPAIR. THERE WAS A CLUNK NOISE ON LEFT SIDE. FOUND TO BE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT AND PAID FOR REPAIR.

AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE LOW ENGINE, THE POWER TRACTION AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE PEDAL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE DRIVER FRONT SEAT FRAME IS BROKE. UPON INSPECTION BY MYSELF, IT'S A WELD FAILURE (A MANUFACTURING DEFECT). A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED IT'S BROKE AND THE VERBIAGE THEY USED WAS "SEAT RISER CRACKING FREE". IN USE, THE SEAT BELT ATTACHES TO THE SEAT, AND IF THE SEAT FRAME IS BROKE AND NOT PROPERLY FASTENED TO THE FRAME/BODY IN MY MIND THIS IS A FAILED OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM. I'M A LITTLE SURPRISED GENERAL MOTORS DIDN'T TAKE ME SERIOUSLY ABOUT REPAIRING THIS IMMEDIATELY AS I'M THINKING THEY ARE LIABLE IF ANYTHING WERE TO HAPPEN. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED THIS AS WE JUST NOTICED IT WHILE IN USE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT RESUMED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,700.
I STARTED A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU WITH 64,000 MILES ON A THURSDAY EVENING AFTER WORK. IT HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 12 HOURS. THERE WAS A WARNING MESSAGE STATING REDUCED POWER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON AND THEN ANOTHER MESSAGE FLASHED STATING SERVICE TRACTION. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I COULD NOT GO OVER 10 MILES PER HOUR. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THE THROTTLE BODY (POSITION SENSOR) WAS DETERMINED TO BE BAD. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW THAT THERE HAVE BEEN COUNTLESS ISSUES WITH THIS THROTTLE BODY SENSOR ACCORDING TO MANY OTHER CHEVROLET CUSTOMERS, BUT CHEVROLET SAID THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON IT, YET. THIS IS THE 3RD ISSUE IN 6 MONTHS I'VE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE WHICH HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH. ONE ISSUE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO WAS A BAD WATER PUMP AND THE OTHER ISSUE FROM THE LAST 6 MONTHS WAS A BRAKE LIGHT MALFUNCTION. THIS CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS 64,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR COST OVER 30K AND HAS BEEN MAINLY USED FOR EASY HIGHWAY DRIVING. *TR

SINCE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE BACK IN 2015 (USED) I HAVE HAD ONGOING STEERING ISSUES. THE STEERING FEELS MUCH LOOSER THAN MOST VEHICLES. IT HAS ALMOST TAKEN ME OFF OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE HAD MECHANICS LOOK AT THE CAR AND THEY HAVE ALL SUGGEST I TAKE IT INTO CHEVY FOR DIAGNOSTICS SINCE IT IS ELECTRICAL STEERING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE STEERING ON THIS EXACT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL, THOUGH IT SAYS MY VIN WAS NOT AFFECTED. IT IS A HUGE CONCERN FOR MYSELF TO HAVE THIS STEERING CORRECTED AS I HAVE A TODDLER IN MY BACK SEAT. WHEN ROADS ARE WET, UNEVEN PAVEMENT, OR THE WEATHER WINDY.. MY CAR PULLS OFF THE ROAD DRASTICALLY I HAVE TO GRIP MY STEERING WHEEL SO HARD TO THE POINT MY HANDS TURN RED FROM GRABBING SO TIGHTLY IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN SOMEWHAT CONTROL OF THIS VEHICLE.. WITH THIS YEAR. MAKE AND MODEL HAVING STEERING RECALLS, I REQUEST CHEVY HONORS MY REQUEST TO HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A LICENSED CHEVY DEALER TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND I FIND IT UNLIKELY THAT I HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUES AS THE RECALL THOUGH A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ISSUE. I AM AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR AND WRECK. HIGHER SPEEDS (FOR EXAMPLE ON THE FREEWAY) MAKE THE STEERING ALMOST UNMANAGEABLE AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I HAVE SPOKE TO NUMEROUS CHEVY MALIBU OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THEIR RECALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN 1 YEAR. I'M DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS BETWEEN 25-50 WHEN MY ENGINE ALMOST CUTS OFF COMPLETELY. MY CHEVY MALIBU NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!! THE ENGINE HARNESS IS HEAT DAMAGED CAUSING TROUBLE CODES TO MAKE DRIVING THE CAR VERY DANGEROUS. TWO ISSUES EXIST: 1. THE THROTTLE BODY PREMATURELY WORE OUT AND CAUSED VARIOUS SYMPTOMS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER, INSTABILITY IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM DUE TO THE ENGINE REVVING UP WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED OR SLOWED, AND VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS INCLUDING TRACTION CONTROL AND ECS INDICATORS. STEERING ALSO WAS DIFFICULT WHILE THE SYMPTOMS PERSISTED. 2. THE CONNECTOR TO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM/ECU) THAT IS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER WAS NOT COMPLETELY SEALED WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO GET INSIDE WHICH STARTED TO CORRODE THE PINS OF THE CONNECTOR. THIS CAUSED INSTABILITY IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE. *JS

I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE SNOW AND MY TRACTION CONTROL KEPT GOING ON. SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY AND EXHAUST CAM ACTUATOR WHICH COST ME ALMOST $1000 AND WASN'T COVERED UNDER MY 5 YEAR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. MORE TO THE POINT, WHAT INCENTIVE DOES A PERSON HAVE TO BRING A RECALLED VEHICLE IN, WHEN THE VEHICLE CAN BE RETURNED IN A FAR LESS SAFE CONDITION. BY THE TIME WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GM SERVICE THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR GET A CODE BUT RECOMMENDED A NEW ECM. PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND RETURNED BACK TO GM SERVICE WITH SAME RESULT AND RECOMMENDATION. MY WIFE COMMUTES 1.5 HOURS PER DAY AND ALSO DRIVES OUR 3 CHILDREN TO SCHOOL EACH DAY. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE CONTINUE WITH THESE ISSUES, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STALLED COMPLETELY, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC BUT WOULD EVENTUALLY START AND RUN AGAIN. SHE DID NOT FEEL SAFE AND WOULD NO LONGER DRIVE THE CAR SO I DROVE THE VEHICLE ONE WEEK EACH DAY TO WORK TO WITNESS THE PROBLEMS MYSELF. EVERY SINGLE DAY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD FLASH THE SAME ERROR CODES ON EACH TRIP TO AND FROM WORK FINALLY, ON THE WAY TO THE GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY TRAFFIC AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. A NEW ECM WAS INSTALLED (WITH A COST OF $650+) AND WITHIN TWO DAYS OF DRIVING, THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. GM SERVICE SENT A TOW TRUCK AND I AWAIT THEIR NEXT ATTEMPT AT FIXING THIS VEHICLE.
