THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS/LOCKS UP ON LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS, USUALLY WHILE DRIVING ON STREET ROADS. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO LOCKED WHILE SWITCHING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. THE RADIO ALSO BLANKS IN/OUT OFTEN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, SOMETIMES IN CONJUNCTION WITH STEERING ISSUES. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR A SHORT TIME AND BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON REPEATED OCCASIONS WITHOUT ANY LUCK WITH DUPLICATION OR RESOLUTION. ALSO, THE PENDING PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL REGARDING THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO NO AVAILABILITY OF PARTS FROM MANUFACTURER. I'VE PAID FOR THIS USED VEHICLE BUT INHERITED THESE ISSUES WHICH ARE MAJOR SAFETY CONCERNS AND VERY BAD BUSINESS. (SUPPORTING DOCS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST)
I brought my 2013 Malibu LT in March of 2021. When I test drove and took it to autozone to get a diagnosis before buying the car nothing was wrong with it. After having the car for about 3 months the problems started. When I went to get it checked again it said that my alternator wasn’t working correctly how it should do I replaced the alternator. After getting the alternator replaced my car still stalls while driving and acts like it doesn’t want to go. When I try to start my car it barely turns over to start. While I’m driving I can’t turn on the radio or lights because it makes my car power go out. The radio lights turn on and off. When I put car in reverse it shuts off. When I’m driving the car shuts off out of nowhere and I have to put it in park and turn it back on. Sometimes it takes awhile to turn back on. When it first happened the engine reduced power popped up as a warning then the engine light came on the dashboard on and off. Everyone says they don’t know what is wrong with it so I feel that the manufacturer should be reliable to fix these problems for us customers. These problems put my child and I at risk by stopping out of nowhere in traffic. I’m currently pregnant and it happened with me and my kids in the car.
THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE FUEL RELAY SENSOR. THE VEHICLE PUSH BUTTON START SEEMS TO INTERMITTENTLY NOT WANT TO WORK. THE VEHICLES OR NOT WANT TO START WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED TO START THE CAR. THE REASON I MENTIONED IF YOU RELAY CENTER IS THAT IT IS SIMILAR TO A CHEAP IPHONE THAT HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM.
UPON EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER. I THEN MUST PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO RESTART IT, I ALSO HAVE TO PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GIVE THE VEHICLE GAS AS IT WILL NOT START WITHOUT PERFORMING THIS STEP. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 20 TIMES. I HAVE HAD MY MECHANIC INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND HE IS UNABLE TO FIND ANY ISSUES AS WHEN THIS HAPPENS NO CODES APPEAR ON A READER AND NO WARNINGS ARE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH.

MY CAR WAS RUNNING IN THE DRIVE WHEN IT DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. EVERYTHING WENT DEAD. I HAD TO JUMP START IT AND AFTER THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS LIGHT ON. I TOOK MY CAR TO A CHEVY DEALER WHERE I WAS CHARGED $80.00 TO BE TOLD THAT THE SDM AIRBAG MODULE NEEDS REPLACED AND ESTIMATED COST FOR THIS IS $1100.00. MY CAR ONLY HAS 108232 MILES ON IT AND TO KNOW THAT IT COULD COST ME EITHER MY FAMILIES LIFE OR $1100.00 EVERYTIME THE BATTERY DIES IS NOT A CHOICE ANYONE SHOULD HAVE TO MAKE. AIRBAGS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST DEPENDABLE PART OF A VEHICLE AS IT SAVES SO MANY LIVES. HOW DO I KNOW IF THEY ARE EVEN WORKING WITH THE LIGHT OFF IF IT IS THIS SENSITIVE? I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE EVEN IF I GET IT FIXED AND SINCE I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR RECENTLY I OWE TO MUCH TO TRY TO BUY ANYTHING ELSE. HOW CAN PART OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT FAIL SO EASILY AND NOT BE ON RECALL? WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF IT HAD DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD INSTEAD OF IN THE DRIVEWAY PUTTING THE CAR INTO GEAR? AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP IT NOW HAS A NEW CODE BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT TO FIND OUT WHAT ELSE IS WRONG.
WHEN DRIVING, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY STOP AND LOSE POWER. IT WILL RESTART AGAIN BUT WILL NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS, BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WE HAVE KEPT IT OFF HIGHWAYS. UNKNOWN THE CAUSE, THERE WAS A RECALL ABOUT THIS HAPPENING BUT PER THE VIN IT WAS COMPLETED. WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR 7 MONTHS.
I GOT A RECALL NOTICE STATING RISK: REAR TOE LINK CAN CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND WORSE CASE OF A RISK.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON. THE VEHICLE WAS STALLING ALL THE WAY HOME TURNING ON AND OFF. HIGHEST SPEED I WAS DRIVING WAS NO MORE THAN 35 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RATTLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND ADDED OIL TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PCV VALVE HAD FROZEN CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
ENGINE POWER REDUCED CONTINUES TO SHOW UP AFTER SEVERAL FIXES INCLUDING AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT MANY TIMES I WILL BE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF OR SLOW DOWN TO DANGEROUSLY SLOW SPEEDS AS LOW AS 10 MILES AND HOUR. THIS IS A CONSTANT ISSUE AND OTHER MALIBU DRIVERS ARE EXPERIENCING.

CAR COMPLETELY LOSES ENGINE POWER AND ELECTRICAL POWER WHILE DRIVING ! THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES IN LAST 6 MONTHS. DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG, NO CODES OR EVIDENCE OF ANY PROBLEMS. THIS SEEMS TO BE SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH MALIBU AND OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES IN GM FAMILY ACCORDING TO SEVERAL ONLINE WEBSITES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL KILL PEOPLE !!!

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER A WEEK LATER FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V764000 (SUSPENSION). THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AS HE SUFFERED CHEST AND HEAD INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS TOWED TO A JUNKYARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER TO GET DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN I HEARD STRANGE NOISES. I THEN HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE CAR BARELY WOULD MOVE. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE, I SAW THE WHEEL WAS SLANTED. IT WAS TOWED TO A AAA REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THEY DISCOVERED IT WAS A BROKEN TOE LINK THAT HAD ROTTED. WHEN IT BROKE, IT ALSO BENT A BAR IN THE REAR. THE INSPECTOR SAID THE SAME WAS HAPPENING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED.

UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V173000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED HER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND REFERRED HER TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000.

THERE IS A RECALL(FROM GM) REGARDING REAR TOE LINKS THAT RECEIVED EXCESSIVE ELECTROCOATING CORROSION PROTECTION WHICH COULD CAUSE THE E-COAT TO BECOME BRITTLE AND BREAK AWAY WHEN CONTACTED BY ROAD DEBRIS. THIS CAN REDUCE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

GOT A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE N202308930 ON JANUARY 2021 AND STILL NO INFO ABOUT PARTS TO REPAIR. I HAVE A KID ABOUT TO DRIVE FROM INDIANA TO CONNECTICUT AND I'M A LITTLE CONCERNED.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, VEHICLE HAS SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. BECAUSE IT IS AN ECO ENGINE, I ASSUMED IT WAS SIMPLY IDLING DOWN, WHILE STATIONARY A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, AS USUAL BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES THE VEHICLE SHUTOFF WAS AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, AND DRIVE THROUGH LANES. AND THEN THE VEHICLE SHUTOFF WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. SHORTLY AFTER THAT INCIDENT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT THE CAR HAS STILL HAD TO BE JUMPED OFF THREE TIMES SINCE THE REPLACEMENT. AND WHEN I HAD THOSE CODES REPAIRED, NOW THE VEHICLE DRIVES AS IF IT ISN'T GETTING GAS AND THEN ALL OF SUDDEN IT WILL JERK AND ACCELERATE QUICKLY. LASTLY, WHEN THE BRAKES ARE USED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE PEDAL WILL SUDDENLY GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD, THEN COME AND TIGHTEN TO POINT I CAN BARELY PRESS THE BRAKES. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THE MECHANICS DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS CAUSING THAT ISSUE TO OCCUR.

THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A DEALERSHIP IN JUNE OF 2020. SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE HAS HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES. MAJOR ISSUES INCLUDING A STALLING/PUTTERING VIBRATION WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT AS WELL AS JUST STARTING THE CAR, IT HAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD START AND ROUGH. HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES INCLUDING ONE VISIT TAKING 3 WEEKS WITH A RENTAL I WAS GIVEN. THE ISSUES ARE STILL ALL HERE, INCLUDING AN OVERHEATING WITH MY WARNING SYSTEMS NOT GIVING ANY SORT OF SIGNS OR LIGHTS, ONSTAR THANKFULLY TOLD ME TO GET THE VEHICLE IN IMMEDIATELY AS I WAS IN THE RED FOR OVERHEATING AND THE FAN STILL CONTINUES TO WORK AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. A SMELL OF BURNING COMES FROM THE CAR EVERYDAY AND OVERALL DOESN'T FEEL SAFE. THE OTHER ISSUE I BELIEVE IS STARTING TO OCCUR IS WITH THE RECALL OF THE CORRODED REAR TOE LINKS CAUSING MAJOR CLUNKING NOISES WHEN HITTING BUMPS AND TURNING.
SERVICE STABILITRAK AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED DISPLAY AT HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING CAR TO DRASTICALLY DECREASE SPEED. CANNOT BE FIXED. HAVE TRIED TO REPAIR FOR YEARS

DRIVING SLOW AND WHEN MAKING TURNS THE CAR STARTS TO SHUT OFF IF NOT GIVEN GAS. THE CAR HAS NO SHUTOFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A SLOW TURN. THIS LAST TIME I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR THEN THE POWER STERRING WAS OUT COMPLETLY MAKING IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN.

NO RECALL OPEN RELATED ON GOING ISSUE, WON'T DRIVE TO AVOID BLOWING A HEAD GASKET, WATER PUMP IS IN TACT NO ISSUES NOR NO OIL OR FLUID LEAKS- HELP!!!!
THE DASH SCREEN GOES BLACK AND CUTS POWER, DISCONNECTING CALLS AND BLUE TOOTH CONNECTION, AND POWER STEERING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I AM UNABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE WHEEL JERKS BACK IN PLACE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. IT ONLY CUTS POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS AND IT COMES BACK ON BUT I AM UNABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENS. The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while attempting to turn on the front windshield defroster, the defroster failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the lever for the defrost door was broken and the blower motor was faulty. The dealer replaced the HVAC mode cam and levers however, the failure recurred with air coming out of different vents, not where it was designated. Additionally, the battery was failing causing the interior and exterior lights to dim. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the body control module needed to be flashed. The vehicle was taken to another dealer Piehl Chevrolet Buick GMC of Princeton (1402 N Main St, Princeton, IL 61356), and diagnosed that the mode actuator cam had failed and the dashboard was disassembled to access the actuator mode cam and found that the gears were not positioned correctly. The second dealer Piehl Chevrolet Buick GMC of Princeton repositioned the gears and flashed the body control module. The contact stated that the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back Piehl Chevrolet Buick GMC of Princeton and the air delivery was inspected and found that while the vehicle was turned off with the key not in the ignition, the door module would move inadvertently, the doors and gears were possibly broken by the previous dealer when the HVAC mode cam and levers were replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 136,000.

I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND STEERING WENT OUT OF THE CAR AND HAD TO MANUEVER CAR TO KEEP FROM WRECKING VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY STATED IT WOULD BE 2200 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MODULE AND MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND MY CAR SHUT OFF. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DROVE. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT AND MY CAR STARTED TO STALL AND SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES. Received a notice about a safety recall for faulty rear suspension toe links. this was 8 months ago with no update on a remedy. This is completely unacceptable as this is deemed a safety issue and could cause a crash!

I WAS TRAVELING ON 294 SOUTH USING CRUISE CONTROL AT 70 MPH WHEN THE CAR STARTED LOSING POWER BUT ALL INTERNAL APP LIGHTS LIKE THE RADIO REMAINED ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL FUNCTIONAL. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARKED IT SHUT OFF. ONLY ISSUE LIGHTS THAT APPEARED 1 WEEK PRIOR WAS THE ABS SENSOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED ON THE FRONT LEFT TIRE. I ATTEMPTED TO JUMP THE BATTERY BUT IT DID NOT RESPOND. CAR HAD BEEN PARKED AND A FRIEND WHO WORKS ON CARS BELIEVES THE ENGINE IS DEAD EVEN THOUGH THERE SHOWS 23% OF OIL LEFT AND NO OTHER SYMPTOMS OF A BLOWN ENGINE. I HAVE BEEN GOODLAND 2013 CHEVY MALIBU ECO ISSUES AND OTHER THAN POTENTIALLY THE STARTER IT COULD BE THE COMPUTER THAT HAS DIED. I CHANGED OUT THE BATTERY AND IT TURNS EVERYTHING ON, BUT STRUGGLES TO CRANK AND REMAIN ON. I CAME ACROSS SEVERAL LINKS REGARDING A RECALL DUE TO COMPUTER, BUT HONESTLY DON'T KNOW IF ITS EVEN THAT. MECHANIC FRIEND BELIEVES IT COULD ALSO BE THE ECM.

I READ WHERE THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR WHICH I WAS QUOTE OVER $1000.
