I WENT THRU A DRIVE THRU CARWASH , NOW MY BACK UP CAMERA ONLY SHOWS GUIDELINES , NO IMAGE , THE BACK UP CAMERA IS NOT WORKIMG PROPERLY. *TR
THE CAR REDUCED SPEED WHILE MY WIFE AND GRANDS WHERE IN TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT REDUCED TO 25 MPH ON HIGHWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LIBERTYVILLE CHEVROLET SERVICE LOCATED AT (1001 S MILWAUKEE AVE, LIBERTYVILLE, IL 60048), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V666000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
MY AUTO STOP CAME ON WHILE AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKE MY CAR SHUT OFF AND WON'T START I TRIED JUMPING CAR IT STILL WON'T WORK. THE TOW COMPANY THAT TOWED MY CAR HAS TOLD ME ABOUT A RECALL ON AUTO STOP
MY CAR WAS DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SERVICE STABILI TRACK LIGHT FLASHED ON MY SCREEN AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING BUT WENT OFF AFTER ABOUT 1 MINUTE . THE NEXT DAY WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR STUTTERED AND FELT ALMOST LIKE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A ROAD WITH LITTLE RIVETS . ITS STOPPED AND AGAIN ALL THE LIGHTS DISSAPEARED. THIS MORNING AS SOON AS I STARTED MY CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE IT STUTTERS AND FEELS AS IF I'M DRIVING DOWN A RIVETED ROAD .
MY VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SOLENOID WENT OUT ON MY CAR. THE PART NUMBER IS 12633613. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 10 DAYS AND CHEVY HAS FAILED TO EVEN GIVE THE SHOP AN ETA ON THIS PART. NOT ONE CHEVY DEALER IN THE COUNTRY HAS THE PART. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE.
MY CAR WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY FINE. IT HAD JUST PASSED THE ADMISSIONS TEST, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I STARTED DRIVING MY CAR IN THE CITY LIMITS, AND WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT I SMELLED SMOKE. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE CAR BEHIND ME. AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT I REALIZED THAT IT WAS MY CAR THAT WAS SMOKING. UPON LIFTING MY HOOD I SEEN OIL EVERYWHERE AND MY ENGINE WAS SMOKING. AN ALERT CAME ACROSS MY SCREEN URGING ME TO DECREASE SPEED AND ADD OIL. AFTER INVESTIGATING IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT IT IS MY ENGINE VARIABLE TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE, AND GM IS CURRENTLY NOT MAKING ANYMORE AND THIS PART IS SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE. I NEED THIS PART IN ORDER FOR MY CAR TO RUN!!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE HIT A DEER. THE DEER WAS STRUCK ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THERE WERE NO DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAGS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS ALSO DAMAGE TO THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE HEAD OF THE DEER ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FIRST TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TO THE DEALER. THE INSURANCE COMPANY ADJUSTER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND HAD NOT YET DETERMINED IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO (PAT O'BRIEN CHEVROLET VERMILION 2315 OH-60, VERMILION, OH 44089 (888) 392-1095) BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE PART I NEED FOR MY CAR NO LONGER AVAILABLE 'OIL CONTROL VALVE' SO THEREFORE I CAN'T EVEN GET A STICKER FOR MY TAG. MY CAR KEEP FAILING EMISSION DUE TO THIS AND THIS IS RIDICULOUS I HAVE TO STILL PAY A CAR NOTE FOR A CAR I CAN'T DRIVE.
AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON MOVING OR SITTING AND SAYS SERVICE AIRBAG.THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SAYS OFF EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN IT
ON JANUARY 15TH. AT 08:26AM WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ON JANUARY 19TH. THE CAR WAS DROPPED FOR SERVICE AT WESTGATE CHEVROLET IN EDMONTON, AB. AFTER TWO WEEKS OF TESTING AND MULTIPLE PART CHANGES THE DEALER ESTABLISHED THAT MY CAR HAS A FAULTY "INTAKE OIL CONTROL VALVE". THIS IS A WELL KNOWN FAILURE OF THE GM ECOTEC 2.5 LKW ENGINE. GM HAS BEEN TRYING TO REDESIGN THE PART SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2019. AS OF TODAY MAY 20TH, 2020 THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS STILL NOT BEEN MADE AVAILABLE AND MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE DEALER FOR 4 MONTHS NOW. MULTIPLE OWNERS OF 2014 AND 15 MALIBU'S AND IMPALA'S ARE SUFFERING THE SAME FAITH. LATELY GM CORPORATE HAS NOT EVEN RETURNED E-MAILS FROM MY DEALER AS TO WHEN THE NEW PART WILL ME MADE AVAILABLE. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR ON PART OF GM. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAMERA CAME ON I HAVE ON THE SCREEN A MESSAGE.... SERVICE AIRBAG. THIS JUST HAPPEND YESTERDAY, I WENT TO WALMART AND WHEN I CAME BACK TO GO HOME I HAD THIS ISSUE.
TRUNK RELEASE STOPPED WORKING ON FOB AS WELL AS THE RELEASE BUTTON ON BACK OF CAR ON THE TRUNK. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THERE WAS AN INTERNAL SHORTENING ON THE DECK LID LATCH.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME AND WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE PURCHASED NEW, AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT. THE TEST SHOWED THAT THE ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL VALVE SOLENOID WAS BAD, AND GM DOES NOT MAKE A REPLACEMENT NOR IS A REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE. WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GM CONCERNING THIS, BUT WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO HAS TOLD US THEIR IS NO REPLACEMENT PART BEING MADE, AND HAVE LEFT US WITH NO OPTIONS, AS THE CAR CANNOT BE USED AS A TRADE IN, DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I'VE BEEN ON THE MALIBU FORUM AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION, AND GM IS GIVEN US ALL THE BACK OF THEIR HAND, WITH NO ANSWERS. WE NOW HAVE A 5 YEAR OLD CAR THAT WE ARE PAYING ON, BUT CANNOT TRADE IN OR SELL UNTIL GM AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS ACT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V164000 (VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WITH NO WARNING. I JUST STARTED MY CAR AND THE DISPLAY SAID TO SERVICE AIRBAG. CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN A WRECK. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE. THEY ALL TURNED THEIR VEHICLES IN TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND ALMOST ALL HAD A FAULTY AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TOWARDS THE BEGINNING OF DEC 2019. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT WAS DUE TO THE ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL VALVE AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO ORDER THE PART. I WAITED UNTIL FEB 2020 WITH NO UPDATE ON WHEN THE PART WOULD ARRIVE SO I TOOK MY MALIBU TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHO STATED IT NEED THE SAME PART AND THAT IT SHOULD BE THERE WITHIN A WEEK. AS OF MAY 2020 MY CAR IS STILL AT THAT DEALERSHIP WITHOUT AN ESTIMATED DATE IN WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. I CALLED GM AND THE ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS OFFER $2500 TOWARDS A NEW CAR.
CAR WAS INITIALLY BROUGHT TO INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER IN SAVANNAH, GA. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE. SPECIFICALLY, THE BRAKES FAIL WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN REVERSE. IT MAY BE TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE AS IT IS EXPERIENCED WHEN THE CAR IS STARTING UP - TYPICALLY IN THE MORNING. THEY SOUGHT HELP FROM VADEN CHEVROLET IN SAVANNAH, GA. THE CAR WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION FOR 1+ WEEKS AND THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE BREAKING SYSTEM. THE CAR WAS THEN RETURNED TO THE INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER WHERE THEY CONTINUE TO STUDY THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER AND VADEN FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SAFETY ISSUE, I CONTACT GENERAL MOTORS (1-866-636-2273) TO REPORT THIS SAFETY ISSUE DIRECTLY. THE INDIVIDUAL MY CASE WAS ASSIGNED TO, "[XXX]", DID NOT FOLLOW UP ON ACTION ITEMS AND WHEN I TRIED TO RETURN HER CALLS, HER VOICEMAIL BOX WAS FULL. I ASKED FOR THIS CASE TO BE ESCALATED TODAY (2/5/2020), BUT SHE INDICATED SHE WAS AT THE TOP - NO ONE TO ESCALATE ISSUE TO. WHEN I ASKED IF SHE REPORTED DIRECTLY TO GM'S CEO, [XXX] , SHE STATED SHE DID NOT KNOW WHO THAT WAS. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR QUITE SOMETIME NOW (MONTHS) AND WOULD LIKE THIS SAFETY ISSUE TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY GM AS IT WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY MY INDEPENDENT REPAIR CENTER. I AM TRYING TO PREVENT A SERIOUS PROBLEM (BRAKES FAILING WHILE CAR IS IN USE), BUT GM IS NOT LISTENING. I WILL NOT DRIVE MY CAR UNTIL IT IS ADDRESSED, BUT IT'S QUITE POSSIBLE THIS PROBLEM EXISTS IN OTHER 2015 CHEVY MALIBU'S WHERE PERHAPS THE DRIVERS AREN'T YET AWARE OR DON'T UNDERSTAND THE POTENTIAL SERIOUSNESS OF THIS ISSUE WITH AN UNADDRESSED, UNKNOWN ROOT CAUSE. THE ROCKER ARM CONTROL VALVE HAS TO BE CHANGED ON MY CAR. GENERAL MOTORS AND CHEVEROLET CONTINUES TO SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO GET THE PART. WHILE DRIVING THE VVT SOLENOID MALFUNCTIONED AND ALL THE OIL SPILLED OUT OF THE CAR RENDERING THE NON OPERABLE. THIS PART CAN NOT BE FOUND ANYWHERE. I WAS TOLD BE THE SEVERAL DEALSHIPS THAT THIS PART HAS BEEN SO BACK ORDER SINCE JUNE 2019 LEAVING ME WITHOUT A CAR AND WITH A CAR NOTE. GM SHOULD OFFER A CREDIT BACK TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!!

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL UNKNOWN CHEVROLET DEALERS IN THE TEXAS AND NEW MEXICO AREAS, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT USED A CODE READER AND DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
IT LIKE SHUDDERS OR SHAKES GOING CERTAIN SPEEDS LIKE GAS ISN'T GETTING THROUGH OR SOMETHING ....BEEN HAPPENING BUT GETTING WORSE NOW
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION (AUTO OFF ENGAGED). WHEN I STARTED TO MOVE, THE CAR WOULD BARELY GO (AUTO OFF WAS DISENGAGED). IT WAS JERKING AS I WAS GIVING IT GAS. THE SERVICE STABILITRAK MESSAGE CAME ON AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I MANAGED TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT , PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN I TRIED TO REV THE ENGINE AND IT JUST DIDN'T WANT TO. I SHUT IT OFF AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED. I DROVE BACK TO WORK AND IT SEEMED FINE, BUT FOR MONTHS NOW, IT SEEMS WHEN I GO TO TAKE OFF, IT HESITATES A BIT BEFORE GOING.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE OIL CONTROL SENSOR. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS INDEFINITELY ON BACKORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I OWN A 2015 MALIBU LT 2.5L, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PASS THE STATE REQUIRED INSPECTION DUE TO A FAULTY OIL CONTROL SOLENOID. (GM PART #12633613 OR GM PART # 19419980) I HAVE INCURRED OVER $1000 IN DIAGNOSTIC FEES AND TAKEN THE CAR TO THREE (3) DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND TWO (2) GM CERTIFIED PARTS DEALERS TRYING TO GET THIS PART REPLACED. GM IS NO LONGER MANUFACTURING AND REFERRING CUSTOMERS TO AFTERMARKET PARTS.(AFTERMARKET PART RECOMMENDED IS THE DORMAN 916-806) IN DOING RESEARCH TRYING TO FIND THIS PART IT SEEMS THIS SAME PART HAS MALFUNCTIONED ON EVERY 2014-2015 YEAR MODEL MALIBU AND IMPALA AND GM IS STILL NOT ISSUING A RECALL. I HAVE FILED CUSTOMER SERVICE INQUIRIES/COMPLAINTS WITH MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AND GM DIRECTLY. THIS IS AN EGREGIOUS EXAMPLE OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THEY ARE OFFERING NO ALTERNATIVE OTHER THAN BUYING A NEW CAR. THE CAR IS SHOWING A CODE ERROR P2646 (ROCKER ARM MALFUNCTION IN BANK 1 STUCK IN OFF POSITION). IT'S NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER I HAD BOUGHT IT FROM A YEAR AGO. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A FAULTY AIR BAG MODULE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T TAKE AN ACCIDENT FOR FAULTING IN SEVERE INJURY, BEFORE I HAD KNOWN WHAT WAS GOING ON. I CALLED GM HOPING TO GET SOME ANSWERS. ONLY TO BE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP ME. FROM READING ONLINE I'VE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE. I JUST PRAY SOMETHING CAN BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSING DIAGNOSTIC MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,800.
IN SEPT OF 2019, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR MY 2015 CHEVY MALIBU. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT RAN THE CODE P2646, AND THE THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED THE GM PART 12633613. THEY ATTEMPTED TO ORDER IT, BUT SAID IT WAS ON BACKORDER AND HAD BEEN FOR A WHILE AND THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT FOR ME. HERE IT IS, FEB OF 2020 AND STILL NO PART. GM THAT THE PART HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND THERE IS NO ETA FOR A NEW PART. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OKAY TO DRIVE, BUT IT HAS A ROUGH IDLE, POWER SURGES, IT CAN BARELY ACCELERATE AND IT HAS STALLED ON ME SEVERAL TIMES. THEY KEEP TELLING ME OH IT'S A "PART DELAY". NO, IT'S NOT ! YOU DON'T MAKE THE PART ANYMORE. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE 2014-2015 MALIBU'S & IMPALA'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THEY NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THESE CARS. MY CAR IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD & THERE IS NO REASON THAT THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE A VERY SIMPLE, $60 PART FOR IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE VARIABLE TIMING CONTROL VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL REPAIRED. THE PART WAS ORDERED BUT WAS STILL ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED $2,500 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF A NEW VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE OFFER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
INITIALLY, CIRCA TWO YEARS AGO, HAD AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE ON HARD BRAKING - THE RADIO DISPLAY SCREEN AND OTHER ELECTRICAL SHUT DOWN, CAR STALLED. AFTER RESTART, CAR WOULD ONLY MOVE FORWARD SLOWLY. EVENTUALLY THIS CLEARED. THE CAR HAS HAD A TOTAL OF ~5 INCIDENTS OF COMPLETE BATTERY DRAIN AND CONSEQUENT FAILURE TO START AFTER SITTING, EVEN THOUGH THE ALTERNATOR PREVIOUSLY WAS SPINNING, AND "BATTERY VOLTAGE" REPORTS AS SOMEWHERE IN THE 13-14 V RANGE. ON THREE SEPARATE REPAIRS, DEALER HAS REPLACED THE AFT BATTERY, THEN THE FORWARD BATTERY, THEN UPDATED FLASH MEMORY (OF BATTERY CONTROL? ANTILOCK BRAKE CONTROL, NOT SURE), PER A RECALL NOTICE AFFECTING OTHER NEARBY MODEL YEARS. AFTER THIS, THE CAR WENT SEVERAL MONTHS WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT DRAINED BATTERY AND FAILED TO START AGAIN THIS WEEK. IT APPEARS THAT THE COMPLEX AUTO STOP/START ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS FLAWED IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE LOCAL DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE WHY THE BATTERY KEEPS DRAINING. BECAUSE THE FORWARD BATTERY CAPACITY IS VERY LARGE, AND USAGE OF THE CAR IS LOW, IT TAKES SEVERAL MONTHS TO DRAIN THE BATTERY. WHEN THE BATTERY IS DRAINED, THE CAR NO LONGER FUNCTIONS - POWER STEERING, ELECTRONICS, ETC, HENCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING.

I CAN NOT GET THE PART THRU DEALER OR AFTERMARKET. I AM IN CONTACT WITH THE DEALER ON A WEEKLY BASIS AND THERE IS NO ETA ON OBTAINING THE PART. I FILED A CASE WITH CHEVROLET ALSO AND THEY ALSO HAVE NO ETA. EVERY TWO DAYS A CHEVY REP CALLS ME TO TELL ME THERE IS NO UPDATED INFORMATION. THIS PART AFFECTS MALIBU'S & IMPALA'S AND IF YOU LOOK ONLINE THERE ARE HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF PEOPLE THAT NEED THE SAME PART. THERE ARE EVEN ONLINE FORUMS DEDICATED TO THIS PARTICULAR PART PROBLEM. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF THE PART FOR THIS MANY PEOPLE LOOKING FOR REPLACEMENTS. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND CHEVROLET APPARENTLY IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX IT.
MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 9/4/19 AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT I NEED THE ROCKER ARM SELANOID VALVE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME IT'S BEEN ON BACK ORDER SOME JUNE 2019. IT IS NOW 1/28/2020 AND CHEVY HAS YET TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ON WHEN PART WILL BE MANUFACTURED AND AVAILABLE. NO DEALERSHIP IN THE COUNTRY HAS THIS PART. VEHICLES MOSTLY AFFECT ARE 2014-2015 BUT MY DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN RECEIVING CALLS UP TO YEAR 2017. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE AFTER MARKET VERSION OF THE PART IS BEING PULLED FROM THE MARKET. CHEVY HAD YET TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ISSUE A RECALL OR EVEN MANUFACTURER A NECESSARY PART FOR THE ENGINE!
I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO NUMEROUS SHOPS TO GET THE MATTER FIXED BUT NO CODE SHOWS UP WHEN BEING TESTED FOR AND BLOWN FUSES. IN AUGUST 2019, MY 2015 CHEVY MALIBU STARTED HAVING WITH THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT) SOLENOID -PART # 12633613 (ABT. 80K MILES). WHEN ACCELERATING INTO PASSING GEAR, THE ENGINE WOULD STEP OUT OF GEAR AND THE RPM'S WOULD REV VERY HIGH WHILE THE CAR SLOWED. I WOULD HAVE TO LET OFF PEDAL UNTIL RPM'S LOWERED, THEN ACCELERATE SLOWLY. MY LOCAL GARAGE DIAGNOSED THE BAD PART AND BEGAN SEARCHING FOR A REPLACEMENT. THEY DISCOVERED THAT (1)-GM IS THE ONLY COMPANY THAT MAKES THE PART, (2)-THAT GM DOESN'T HAVE ANY MORE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND (3)-GM IS NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY MORE. THEY DISCOVERED THAT MANY GM DEALERSHIPS HAVE HUNDREDS ON BACK ORDER ALSO. IN DECEMBER I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE; CASE # 9-5698216592 AND CONVERSED WITH VAHMARTA PH.#(866)-790-5600 AND FIELD REP; LOGAN EXT:5916533. THEIR FINAL ANSWER: (1) GM IS THE ONLY COMPANY THAT MAKES THE PART, (2) GM DOESN'T HAVE ANY MORE PARTS AND (3) GM ISN'T GOING TO MAKE ANY MORE PARTS. THEIR FINAL SOLUTIN: THEY OFFERED ME A $2,500 VOUCHER TOWARDS A NEW VEHICLE. GM IS QUITE AWARE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT IS NOT OFFERING A PART TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SHE HAD NO ANSWERS FOR ME ON THE CAR. THE ONLY POSITIVE POINT IS THAT SHE CALLED ME FROM DETROIT. SO IT LOOKS LIKE I FINALLY GOT TO SOMEONE AT HEADQUARTERS. 'SHE UNDERSTANDS WHY I AM UPSET', AND WISHES THERE WAS SOMETHING MORE SHE COULD DO FOR ME BUT UNFORTUNATELY ALL SHE COULD TELL ME WAS 'THAT MY CASE HAS BEEN ESCALATED.' AUTO STOP WHICH COMES STANDARD IN 2015 MALIBU'S WITH 2.5L ENGINES WILL NOT ENGAGE. IT USED TO WORK FLAWLESSLY, BUT IT WILL NOT ENGAGE. MULTIPLE FORMS THAT I HAVE READ HAVE PEOPLE STATING THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.
MY 2015 CHEVY MALIBU LTZ ECO, JUST SUDDENLY LOSS POWER WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. THE AUTO STOP HAD ENGAGED ONCE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. SO FOR MY SAFETY AND MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY I KEEP THE PORTABLE BOOSTER IN THE TRUNK BECAUSE IDK WHEN IT'LL JUST CUT OFF . THE SENSOR LIGHT FOR MY AIRBAGS STAYS ON. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT, AND THE SENSOR DOES NOT WORK.

THE VEHICLE'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT; AFTER THE IMPACT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO USE THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYING. THE CONTACT THEN FORCED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY COASTED TO A STOP AFTER THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE INTO A GRASS FILLED AREA. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BRAIN BLEED AS A RESULT OF THE COLLISION. THE OTHER DRIVER SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES; HOWEVER, NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS GIVEN TO EITHER PARTIES INVOLVED IN THE COLLISION. AFTER THE COLLISION, THE CONTACT WENT TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WHERE THEY DISCOVERED SHE HAD BLEEDING ON HER BRAIN AND WAS TREATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (POP'S CHEVROLET BUICK600 US-23, PRESTONSBURG, KY 41653(606) 263-1507). THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
CAR WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT FOR OVER AN HOUR WHEN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE STARTED BY THE BATTERY AND FUSE PANEL. THERE HAVE BEEN NO MODIFICATIONS MADE TO THE CAR AT ALL. STANDARD MAINTENANCE ONLY HAS BEEN DONE INCLUDING NEW TIRES ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THERE IS NO REASON A PARKED COOL CAR SHOULD CATCH ON FIRE. THERE WERE NO OIL LEAKS AT ALL ON THE CAR.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY COMES ON AND OFF. UNABLE TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK THOROUGHLY BECAUSE THE ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T STAY ON. WAS AT AN AUTO ZONE ONE DAY WHEN IT CAME ON AGAIN AND WAS GIVEN TWO OF THE SAME CODES STATING THERE MAY BE AN O2 SENSOR ISSUE. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING I GET A MESSAGE ON THE CAR STATING 'SERVICE POWER STEERING' THEN IT GOES OFF AGAIN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. RIGHT DRIVER BACK SEAT BELT DOESN'T CLICK IN ALL THE WAY BUT SOMETIMES IT DOES.
MY CAR WAS TAKEN IN LIKE 3 YEARS AGO FOR AIRBAG RECAL AND IT AS FIX BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON
DROVE MY MALIBU TO SEE A SHOW AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE. AFTER THE SHOW, WHEN TURNED ON THE IGNITION HAD A SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT. TOOK IT TO THE GM DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND SAID HAD TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG SDM ELECTRICAL MODULE WITH A TOTAL PRICE ESTIMATE OF ALMOST $1,000 CAD !!! I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE DECEMBER 2014 AND HAVE DRIVEN IT TO FLORIDA EVERY WINTER SINCE. IT ONLY HAS 82,500 KM ON IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A PREMATURE FAILURE AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. SHOULD BE THE SAME AS THE NEW CAR EMISSIONS WARRANTY WHERE EMISSION COMPONENTS ARE COVERED MUCH LONGER THAN NEW CAR WARRANTY.
