DRIVING DOWN MAJOR HIGHWAY, CEL CAME ON, VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE. SCANNED CEL AND FOUND CODE FOR APP SENSOR FAILURE. BROUGHT TO CHEVY DEALER NEAR WHERE CAR BROKE DOWN AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHARGE ME TO DIAGNOSE IT AND THEN CHARGE FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THE ONLY ISSUE BEING IS THAT THE GAS PEDAL AND SENSOR ARE ON A NATIONAL BACKORDER. WHICH MEANS THAT SINCE THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE WITH THE THOUSAND OF GM VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THE COST OF THE RENTAL CAR THROUGH THE DEALER. THERE IS NO ETA ON WHEN THE PART WILL BE IN (IF EVER) SINCE GM HAS NOT BEEN PRODUCING THESE PARTS FOR AFTERMARKET REPAIRS. THIS ISSUE STARTED ON 12/21/18 AND THE DEALER SAID IT MAY TAKE UP TO TWO WEEKS OR LONGER TO GET THE PART, THE PART HAS STILL NOT BEEN ISSUED TO THE DEALER WHICH HAS SEVERAL CARS WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL GM VEHICLES, MY GRANDFATHER WORKED FOR GM, AND I SERVICE MANY HEAVY DUTY GM ENGINES THROUGH MY JOB, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST GM VEHICLE I BELIEVE I WILL BE PURCHASING. THE QUALITY OF GM IS GONE IMMENSELY DOWN AND THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE OF OWNING ONE ANYMORE.
THIS VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS, WHILE RIDING ON THE HIGHWAY OR JUST DRIVING ALL TOGETHER THE ENGINE SPEED REDUCED LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE SPEED DROPS IF I'M ON THE HIGHWAY IT DROPS TO 40MPH IF IM DRIVING THE STREET IT DROPS TO 20MPH, MY KIDS AND I WERE ALMOST HIT BY OTHER DRIVERS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BECAUSE OF THIS, I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THE PROBLEM, FOR THE PAST WEEK IT HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE AND HAPPENS AT LEAST 5 TIMES A DAY, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS AS ITS VERY DANGEROUS FOR MY FAMILY AND I
POWER FAILURE WHEN DRIVING AND ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR LOSES POWER AND WON'T PULL.
MY CHEVROLET 2016 MALIBU, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR DECREASED IN SPEED AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE SCREEN SAID 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED'. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE OVER 30 MPH. I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF WHERE I STILL WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A 'GAS PEDAL SENSOR THAT WENT OUT' AND THAT THIS PART IS GOING OUT IN ALL MALIBU'S.
IN DECEMBER OF 2018 ON A ROAD TRIP, MY BRAKES FAILED; I LITERALLY HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE, WITH MYSELF, MY MOTHER AND MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. YOU CAN IMAGINE THE FEAR I FELT AT THAT TIME. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO MERGE ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN HARRISBURG, PA AND IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO REPLACE THE VACUUM PUMP. JULY 2019 I NOTICE THAT MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THERE IS A MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD THAT STATES 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER.' I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I INITIALLY PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. MY CAR HAS BEEN THERE SINCE TUESDAY, JULY 23, 2019 AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE 'ANTI-LOCK BRAKE' SYSTEM HAS FAILED AND THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO PINPOINT WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED THAT WE TAKE THE CAR HOME AND BRING IT ON ANOTHER DAY, BUT AGAIN, LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF AND WE COULD NOT APPLY PRESSURE TO IT! THEY HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP AGAIN.
WHEN I WAS RESUMING ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF AFTER A SEMI TRACTOR TRAILER THAT WAS IN FRONT OF ME; I HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO AVOID FROM HITTING THE SEMI TRUCK. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 55 MPH AT THE TIME THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED & IT HAS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AFTER THAT INITIAL INCIDENT. THEN IT STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE & DID A RECALIBRATION ON THE FRONT CAMERA & LONG RANGE RADAR MODULES.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND CAUSE IS DUE TO FUEL FILLER PIPE BEING FAULTY. THE LISTED 2016 CHEVY MALIBU HAS BEEN HAVING 'REDUCE ENGINE' ISSUE FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY IT HAPPENS. IT OCCURES RANDOMLY, ON HIGHWAYS, LOCAL ROADS, HIGH AND LOW SPEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, BUT TURN OFF AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, THOUGH THE ISSUE PERSIST.
MY MALIBU DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN IT OFF WHEN I PUT IT INTO PARK. I GET THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK".
AS SOON AS I STARTED THE CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON STATING THAT THE ENGINE'S EMISSION IS BEING REDUCED TO WHERE YOU CAN FEEL THAT THE SPEED OF THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN, BUT THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF A LITTLE WHILE LATER. THIS HAPPENED ON THIS PAST SUNDAY, NOW IT COMES ON AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT THE PAST YEAR AND THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. ITS LIKE EVERY 2-3 MONTHS THIS ISSUE OCCURS.
I STARTED GETTING DIFFERENT MESSAGES AND LIGHTS ON MY DASH OVER TIME. THE FIRST TIME I GOT A SERVICE STABILITRAK MESSAGE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHEN I WAS PARKED WITH THE CAR IDLING AND THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND CALLED THE DEALER. I TOLD THEM THE ISSUE AND ASKED IF IT WAS OK TO DRIVE TO A LOT OR SHOULD I GET IT TOWED. THEY SAID IT SHOULD BE OK TO DRIVE IT. IT WAS TOO LATE IN THE EVENING TO MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SO I WENT TO BED. I GOT UP THE NEXT MORNING AND GOT IN THE CAR AND THE MESSAGE WAS GONE AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT MUST HAVE JUST BEEN A GLITCH OR SOMETHING AND THAT I WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE IT SINCE IT WAS RUNNING FINE NOW. CAR RAN FINE FOR MONTHS WITH NO ISSUES AFTER THAT THEN ONE DAY I GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH A MESSAGE THAT SAYS ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED AND SERVICE STABILITRAK WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY. I PULLED INTO THE NEAREST AUTOPARTS STORE AND GOT THEM TO CHECK MY CODES WHICH CAME BACK WITH A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 1. AGAIN CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID I COULD DRIVE IT IN SINCE IT WAS JUST A MISFIRE, THAT IT WOULD JUST RUN ROUGH. I STOPPED FOR FUEL ON MY WAY AND THE MESSAGE AND ENGINE LIGHT WERE GONE WHEN I STARTED IT AGAIN. CALLED DEALER AGAIN THEY WERE CLUELESS AND SAID THEY COULDN'T REALLY DO MUCH IF THE ISSUE WASN'T THERE. RAN FINE FOR MONTHS AGAIN THEN GOT SERVICE STABILITRAK MESSAGE AND BRAKES ACTED FUNNY AS I WAS PULLING INTO WORK. BY LUNCH TIME THE ISSUE WAS GONE AGAIN. COUPLE DAYS LATER, REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK, TURNED AROUND AND LIMPED IT HOME WHILE STOPPING AT PARTS STORE AND 11 CODES CAME BACK. I GOT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME I HAVE A BROKEN PISTON IN CYLINDER 1 AND THEY COULDN'T REBUILD IT BUT THEY WOULD PUT A NEW ENGINE IN IT FOR $9,000.
THE ENGINE DEVELOPED A CRACKED PISTON AFTER APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES.
WHEN PLACING MY VEHICLE INTO THE PARK POSITION AND TRYING TO TURN MY ENGINE OFF A MESSAGE STATES TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO THE PARK POSITION BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF. THE CAR STAYS ON UNTIL IT GOES OFF BY DEFAULT WHICH CAUSES A DRAW ON THE BATTERY. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING CONSISTENTLY FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS AND WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I AM TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE.
FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS WHEN MY AUTO STOP IS ENGAGE THE CAR TURNS COMPLETELY OFF AND STALLS WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS SITUATION I THINK IT'S A CAR DEFECT IN MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN STATING THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR SAME STYLE OF VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE

WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE HAD TO DO WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THE CAR IS STOPPED AND ENGINE TURNED OFF HANDLE DOES NOT ALLOW EXIT FROM CAR EXTERIOR - CANNOT LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOORS FROM THE DOOR SENSOR OR FROM THE FOB INTERIOR - CANNOT LOCK/UNLOCK THE PASSENGER DOORS WITH THE DOOR SENSOR OR FOB UPON ENTERING VEHICLE RANDOM ALARM ' AS IF VEHICLE IS BEING STOLEN CAR WILL DING THAT THE REMOTE IS STILL IN THE CAR WHILE I'M STILL IN THE CAR. ATTACHED IS A LETTER I SENT TO CHEVY TO TELL THEM HOW UNSAFE THIS IS IN EVERY SITUATION. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO ANSWER IN HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE 11/20/18. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 48 OF THE LAST 54 DAYS WITH THE PAST 37 DAYS CONSECUTIVE CHEVY OFFERED ME A REBATE ON A NEW CAR BUT REFUSED TO BUY THE CAR BACK. THE CAR IS A DANGER AND IS NOT ROAD READY FOR ANYONE. I AM HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME UPLOADING DOCUMENTS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I NEED TO SEND SEPARATELY THROUGH EMAIL.
I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE OFF AND ON IGNITION PUSH BUTTON SINCE LAST YEAR. I HAVE TO PUSH AND START SEVERAL TIME IN ORDER TO CUT OFF TO LOCK MY DOORS AND TURN THE RADIO OFF. MY BRAKES LOCKED ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AND SMELLED LIKE RUBBER WHERE BURNING. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. I WAS TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG AND HAD TO GET MY VEHICLE AND PARK IT.

AFTER TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY; HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BREDENANN CHEVROLET (1401 WEST DEMPSTER ST, PARKRIDGE, IL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ON BACKORDER AND THERE WAS NO ESTIMATED OF WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO LEASED VEHICLE THAT HAS MULTIPLE MALFUNCTIONS; LOSING POWER, NOT ACCELERATING, AND NOT SHIFTING GEARS. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE 'RIGHT TRACK' DEVICE. *JS
ALTERNATOR BEARING IS GOING BAD. I HAVE NOT REPLACED IT YET THE CAR IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD ALTERNATOR SHOULD LAST AT LEAST SEVEN YEARS. I ALSO HAD A NEW ENGINE PUT IN A FEW MONTHS AGO BECAUSE OF THE PISTON CRACKED. SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE NEW ENGINE IN THE 2016 CHEVY MALIBU MODEL
WATER IS GETTING IN THREW THE 3RD BRAKE MOUNTED ON THE REAR WINDSHIELD. THE LIGHT IS FOGGED AND WATER IS LEAKING INTO THE MAIN CABIN. THE VEHICLE CAN BE IN MOTION OR STATIONARY. I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE BECAUSE WATER COULD BE SITTING SOMEWHERE IN THE MAIN CABIN, AND COULD EVENTUALLY PRODUCE MOLD. ALSO, THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE DO TO WATER SHORTING IT OUT.
CAR HESITATES WHEN PUSHING ACCELERATOR AND BEGINS TO MOVE FORWARD SLOWLY FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN ACCELERATES RAPIDLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND BECAUSE IT IS ONLY RANDOM WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT. THIS OCCURS WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, OR PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO TRAFFIC. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH A SMART TRANSMISSION BECAUSE ME AND MY WIFE HAVE DIFFERENT DRIVING HAPPENS. (WHICH DOESN'T SOUND REASONABLE) LAST TIME IT DID THIS WAS YESTERDAY AND IT SEEMS TO HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY.
WHEN GOING TO START THE VEHICLE WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH START BUTTON IT MAKES A CLICK SOUND AND SHOWS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL AS STABILITY CONTROL MESSAGE APPEARS IN THE DASH. IT'S NOT AN ISSUE OF A DEAD BATTERY OR FAULTY STARTER. IT HAPPENS ONCE OR TWICE A DAY. WHEN I COME BACK ABOUT A HR LATER I AGAIN APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH THE START BUTTON AND AFTER A FEW TRIES OF IT READING THE SAME CHECK ENGINE STABILITY CONTROL MESSAGE IT STARTS UP. ALONG WITH THIS HAPPENING WHEN I'M DRIVING AND COME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE AUTO STOP ENGAGES AS IT SHOULD ONLY THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY DIES. BUT WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE IT DOESNT START BACK UP AS NORMAL. ONLY TO HAVE TO PUT IT IN PARK AND APPLY THE BRAKE AND HOPE IT STARTS BACK UP. AFTER READING INTO THIS ON VARIOUS FORUMS THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON RECURRING ISSUE. ONLY NO ANSWERS AS TO WHY OR WHAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH SCREWS ARE BACKING OUT. THIS IS CAUSING THE DOOR TO BECOME UNLATCHED FROM THE DOOR FRAME AND CAUSE THE DOOR TO OPEN DURING DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS ALSO ALLOWS WATER TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS WATER IN THE TRUNK, FROM THE RAIN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SMELL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE BYERS CHEVROLET DEALER (866-920-8815, 5887 N MEADOWS DR, GROVE CITY, OH 43123) AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
WATER FOUND IN REAR COMPARTMENT AND/OR REAR PASSENGER FLOOR AREA, LEAKING FROM THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AREA AND.OR REAR WINDOW. THE CAUSE OF THE CONDITION MAY BE THAT OVER TIME, THE CENTER HIGH MOUNT STOP LAMP (CHMSL) FASTENERS MAY LOSE TORQUE AND ALLOW WATER TO LEAK INTO THE REAR COMPARTMENT OR FLOOR AREA. THE FASTENERS MAY LOSE TORQUE DUE TO THERMAL EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION OF THE CHMSL MATERIAL

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AUTONATION CHEVROLET SOUTH CLEARWATER (15005 US HWY 19 N, CLEARWATER, FL 33764, (727) 266-3920) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED 4 TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
CAR REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT HAS BEEN SHIFTED INTO PARK, DESPITE HAVING BEEN PROPERLY SHIFTED INTO PARK. I RECEIVE THE ERROR MESSAGE "SHIFT VEHICLE INTO PARK" AFTER TURNING OFF THE IGNITION. TOOK SEVERAL TRIES TO MAKE IT GO AWAY. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT.

ALSO, "ERROR CODE P2138" APPEARED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED BALISE CHEVROLET (440 HALL OF FAME AVENUE SPRINGFIELD, MA 01105, (413) 233-4668) AND WAS INFORMED THAT A NEW BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,319.
MY SHIFT TO PARK INDICATOR DISPLAYS ON THE DASH WHEN MY CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK. THE CAR CAN'T BE TURNED OFF UNTIL THE INDICATOR GOES OFF. I USUALLY CHANGE GEARS AND PUT BACK IN PARK OR PUSH IT HARDER WHILE IT IS ALREADY IN PARK. I HAD THIS REPAIRED ON 9/14/18. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT LEVEL SELECTOR. IT IS NOW DOING IT AGAIN. IT STARTED THAT SHIFT TO PARK AGAIN ON 8/7/2020.
THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING WATER ON THE REAR SEATS AND TRUNK. LOOKING ONLINE, THERE ARE OTHERS AFFECTED BY THE SAME ISSUE. THE OFFICIAL ANSWER FROM CHEVY IS THAT THE BOLTS BECOME LOSE OVERTIME. MY CAR HAS 40,000 MILES AND IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY, SO GM WON'T FIX IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DETECTED MOLD ON THE REAR SEATS, IN THE TRUNK, ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEATS, AND THE VEHICLE FLOOR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION REGARDING THE CENTER HIGH MOUNT THIRD BRAKE LIGHT, WHICH CAUSED WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HESSERT CHEVROLET (6301 E ROOSEVELT BLVD, PHILADELPHIA, PA 19149, 877-338-7630) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WAS REPLACED, BUT THE MOLD WAS STILL PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,400. *DT *TR
AROUND 50,000 MILES SENSOR ON THROTTLE PEDAL WENT OUT AND CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP ACCELERATING WITH MY KID IN THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD DRIVING. NEXT AT 74,000 MY 2016 CHEVY MALIBU LT 1.5L TURBO HAS A CRACKED PISTON. I BELIEVE RECALL 17019 STOCHASTIC PRE EGNITION SHOULD BE LINKED TO MY VIN. FIRST SERVICE STABILITRAK COMES ON WITH A GLOWING ICON SHOWING A CAR WITH WAVY LINES UNDERNEATH IT. THEN CODE READING P0301 (CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE) WENT THROUGH THE CHECKLIST, SPARK PLUGS, COILS, FUEL INJECTORS ALL FINE. CHECKED THE COMPRESSION OF CYLINDER ONE AND IT'S GONE. CYLINDER ONE HAS NO COMPRESSION IT DOESN'T WORK. I SAW THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE 1.5L TURBO GM TRIED PERFECTING AND STILL DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX BESIDES REPLACING THE PISTON OR MOTOR. BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING MY CAR. ONCE I NOTICED THE STABILITRAK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT I WENT HOME AND LEFT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE IN HOPES THERE WASN'T DAMAGE. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT GM KNEW THIS WHOLE TIME AND NO ONE TOLD ME. THE FLOOR UNDER DRIVER'S SEAT IS SOFT. WHEN I PLACE MY FOOT DOWN ON THE FLOOR IT SINKS IN.AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED OUT WITH A SMALL CRACK NOW IT IS BROKEN.

CAR HAS DIED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN COMING TO A STOP AND THE AUTO STOP FEATURE STOPPED WORKING EACH TIME IT DIES OUT. CAR STAYS AT A HIGHER IDLE AND DON'T ACTIVATE AUTO STOP FEATURE. DEALER CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. IT WILL RANDOMLY ACTIVATE AND THEN DIE OUT AND NO LONGER WORK.
MY 2016 MALIBU HAS HAD TWO CONTINENTAL PROCONTACT TX TIRES FAIL BECAUSE OF THE SIDEWALL RADIALS BREAKING. THESE TIRES ARE UNSAFE. MY COWORKER HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER AND COMPANY KEEPS BLAMING THE ROADS. I HAVE OPERATED VEHICLES FOR 36 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A SIDEWALL FAILURE AND NOW I HAVE HAD 2 WITH THE SAME BRAND AND MODEL TIRE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS COMPLETED AT HER RESIDENCE BY A FAMILY MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE ROTOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR WASN'T ACTING WEIRD OR ANYTHING. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING MULTIFUNCTION POWER SUPPLY CONVERTER, IT HAS INTERNAL ISSUES I APPROVED THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING IS FINE EVERYTHING CLEARED. THE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE STARTED TO GO CRAZY I STATED THAT ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN CAR LOUNGES FORWARD AND THAT THE DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK ALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAR THEN JUST STOPS I HAD TO RESTART IT. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING BATTERY I APPROVED .THE SAME DAY I PICKED UP MY CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED BUT THE NEXT DAY CAR STARTED TO BE IT SELF AGAIN SO I KEPT IT DIDN'T TAKE IT IN.A WEEK LATER THE SAME SYMPTOMS CAR JOLTS FORWARD,IT LOCKS AND UNLOCKS WHEN DRIVING AND CAR TURNS OFF COMPLETELY THIS TIME THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE I APPROVED. 30 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE MECHANICS, CAR HAS THE SAME EXACT PREVIOUS SYMPTOMS BUT NOW CAR WENT BEYOND CRAZY, CAR WAS ON DRIVE BUT WON'T ACCELERATE, BREAK, AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, DASH SAID (SERVICE STABILITRAK) (ICE POSSIBLE) IT HOT OUTSIDE. IT HAPPENS WHEN I GET OFF FREEWAYS, WHEN I'M DRIVING ON REGULAR STREETS: DOORS LOCKS AND UNLOCKS DASH ALWAYS SAY CHECK REAR DOOR LOCKS THE, CAR LUNGES FORWARD AND THEN CAR JUST STOPS AND WON'T GO I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF THEN ON AGAIN. JUST IMAGINE IF CAR COMPLETELY STOP IN A FREEWAY, I'M LUCKY THAT IT GIVES ME A WARNING WHEN I HEAR THE LOCKS GO CRAZY I PULL OVER I THEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT SLOWLY HOME AND ALL THE WAY HOME CAR JOLTS TOWARDS LOCKS ARE GOING CRAZY AND CAR STOPS FREQUENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREETS. THEN I'M ABLE TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANICS LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENS TO IT. GOES BACK TO NORMAL WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED.
MY CAR WILL BE IN PARK AND THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF BUT THE DISPLAY WILL INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE IN PARK. I WILL HAVE TO START MY CAR SEVERAL TIME AND SWITCH THE GEARS SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE INDICATOR TO GO OFF. THIS WILL GO ON SOMETIMES FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN HOPES THAT THIS WILL RECTIFY THE PROBLEM TO NO AVAIL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AT THE STORE AND IN MY DRIVEWAY.
WATER LEAKED INTO THE BODY OF THE CAR THROUGH THE CENTER MOUNT STOP LAMP AT THE TOP OF THE REAR WINDOW. EITHER THE GASKET WAS DEFECTIVE, OR IT WAS SIMPLY MISSING FROM THE CAR. OVER TIME, WATER SEEPED INTO THE CAR FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE HEAT FROM THE SUMMER CAUSED MOLD TO GROW ON THE VEHICLE FLOOR BOARDS AND THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BLET. MOISTURE IN THE CAR CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. THE CAR IS TOTALED AND CURRENTLY AWAITING INSPECTION AT THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA. *LN*TP THE CONSUMER STATED HE NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. *JS
WHEN STOPPING AND STARTING AT STOPLIGHT ETC CAR WILL NOT ENGAGE. PRESS HAS CAR BARLEY MOVES THEN IT WILL JUMP INTO GEAR AND DRIVE NORMAL. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE WHEN ENGINE IS HOT AND CAR HAS BEEN DRIVE FOR A EXTENDED PERIOD.

THEY REPROGRAMED THE HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE 2 - PER A FACTORY SERVICE BULLETIN BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, LIGHT CAME BACK ON. 5/26/2018 - 100 DEGREES. CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 40 MPH ON CITY STREET. RESTARTED IN SOME KIND OF DEFAULT MODE WITHOUT EV COMPONENTS AFTER 30 MIN. NEXT DAY IT WORKED FINE. 8/12/2018 - 86 DEGREES. CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON CITY STREET GOING 30MPH. RESTARTED AND DROVE FINE BUT LATER THE SAME DAY AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND SHIFTING TO REVERSE THE CAR MOVED FORWARD, CAR WAS IN EV MODE. SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND CAR STILL MOVED FORWARD, STILL IN EV MODE. SHIFTED TO REVERSE AND NEUTRAL AGAIN THE CAR STILL MOVED FORWARD, STILL IN EV MODE. TURNED OFF ENGINE, RESTARTED AND WORKED FINE, STILL IN EV MODE. 8/16/2018 - 85 DEGREES. CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING, RESTARTED AND WORKED. BUT LATER THAT DAY I STARTED THE CAR AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE CAR MOVED FORWARD, CAR IN EV MODE. I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL BUT AT THE SAME MOMENT THE ENGINE STARTED AND I FELT AND HEARD A SHIFTING NOISE AND THE CAR WORKED FINE. 2ND APPOINTMENT WILL DEALER ON 8/20/16, APPEARS A COMMON FACTOR IS WARM DAYS WHEN I PARK THE CAR OUTSIDE IN THE SUN. NO MATTER WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE THERE IS A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SYMPTOM OF A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND COULD BECOME A COMMON PROBLEM. THE NEXT STEP THE DEALER WILL DO IS REPLACE A WIRING HARNESS, AGAIN PER A SERVICE BULLETIN SO THE MANUFACTURER DOES KNOW OF A PROBLEM.
