WHEN I SHIFT TO PARK AND ATTEMPT TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF A WARNING COMES UP TELLING ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND I THEN HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON MOVE THE SHIFTER DOWN TO DRIVE AND SLOWLY MOVE THROUGH EACH GEAR UNTIL THE PARKING SENSOR WILL RECOGNIZE THE SHIFTER IS IN PARK THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENS TO OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE TO ALLIED TO WITH THE SAME MODEL
IT REDUCES POWER TO THE EGINE
THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP IS BAD THEY USED TO CHEAP CHINESE KNOCKOFF PART THAT BREAKS AND GET SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE POSSIBLY CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE BUT FOR THE MOST PART IN YOUR BRAKES CAN FAIL LEAVING THE CAR WITHOUT ANY BREAKING SUPPORT FROM THE BOOSTER VACUUM I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE ADVISOR IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR WORK AT GENERAL MOTORS EXPENSE THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMPS ARE FAILING AT AN ALARMING RATE CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE AND POSSIBILITY OF INJURY 5 MINUTES AFTER I DID EVERYTHING THEY TOLD ME I RECALLED THE DEALING TO CONFIRM MY APPOINTMENT THEY REFUSED TO ANSWER THE PHONE AND PUT ME ON HOLD THEN WHEN THEY ANSWER THE PHONE THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SERVANTS ADVISOR I TALKED TO NO LONGER WORKS THERE BEST CHEVROLET KENNER LOUISIANA 70062 WITHOUT THE VACUUM PUMP THE BRAKES ARE VERY HARD THE PRESS THE CAR IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEEDS I'M TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED BUT GENERAL MOTORS IS REFUSING THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THE BEST THING THAT I CAN DO IS TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING AND WHENEVER GENERAL MOTORS FEELS LIKE DOING A RECALL I MAYBE CAN GET REIMBURSED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE GEAR SHIFTING SYSTEM FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A MESSAGE RECEIVED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ADVISING THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK. THE MESSAGE WAS RECEIVED EACH TIME THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON ONE OCCASION WHEN AT A GAS SERVICE STATION THEY PARKED THE VEHICLE PUT THE GEAR IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY MOVED FORWARD. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT CRASH INTO ANY OBJECT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION CHEVROLET GREENACRES, 5757 LAKE WORTH ROAD, GREENACRES, FL 33463 PHONE (561) 491-2969 TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE $700.00 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
MY 2017 MALIBU HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT. IN THE COURSE OF THREE DAYS A WARNING KEPT POPPING UP EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP THE CAR ENGINE WOULD TURN OFF FOR A SECOND AND THEN TURNED BACK ON WITH A WARNING THAT STATED SERVICE STABILITY TRACK, DRIVER ASSISTED STEERING NOT ENGAGED. TODAY I CAME TO A STOPLIGHT AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED LEAVING ME STRANDED THERE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES UNTIL I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN AND MOVING. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN MANUAL MODE TO GET IT TO DRIVE. I AM AWAITING THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX THIS. I HAVE READ SCORES OF OTHER REPORTS OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING ON THESE CARS. TO THE POINT WHERE SOME PEOPLE ARE DRIVING AND IT STOPS. THIS IS A SERIOUS DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GENERAL MOTORS.
The contact owned a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while backing out of the driveway, the engine revved up and accelerated independently. The contact's vehicle accelerated independently in reverse(R) and clipped the tow hitch of a vehicle parked on the street, and that was where the vehicle came to a stop. No air bags deployed. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was inspected. However, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while parking in reverse into the contact's assigned parking space, the engine revved up and accelerated independently. The vehicle accelerated in reverse(R) and hit a tree, where it came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the back windshield was shattered, the rear bumper fell off, and smoke was emitting from under the hood. A police report was not filed. The contact was taken to the hospital by a family member later that day. The contact sustained minor injuries; a contact had a CT scan due to hitting the steering wheel. The contact sustained minor cuts from the flying glass from the back windshield. The contact stated that the day after the accident, her daughter turned on the vehicle, and the air bag warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was left at the residence pending an inspection from a mobile independent mechanic. The contact stated that prior to the accident, the gear shift failed to function as intended. When the contact moved the shift lever to park(P) and the contact turned off the engine, the light on park(P) would stay on. The contact then turned on the engine and turned it off the engine, and the light on the gearshift turned off. The insurance company was not contacted. However, the contact did not have coverage for the accident. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT CRACKED IN THREE PLACES AND NOW WATER IS IN THE CAR AND TRUNK. I SAW SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR THE CAR JUST FOR THIS ISSUE BUT THE DEALERSHIP STATES IT ISNT COVERED FOR MY VIN.. ALSO, THERE IS A POPPING NOISE UNDER THE CAR WHEN I TAKE OFF, TURN CURVES, GET OUT OF THE CAR ETC. SEEMS TO BE BUSHINGS WEARING OUT AND IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. AGAIN, MY CAR IS NOT COVERED.
VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN AFTER AUTO STOP ENABLED WHEN CAR COMES TO COMPLETE STOP AT LIGHTS, INTERSECTIONS, ETC. VEHICLE WILL ALSO SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. STALITRAK WARNING BLINKS BUT THE ELECTRICAL POWER INSIDE DOESN'T ALWAYS SHUT DOWN. CAR WILL START BACK UP ONCE YOU QUICKLY PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK , SHUT IT OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 3-5 TIMES TO GET IT STARTED BACK UP. BATTERY HAS BEEN CHANGED AND SENSOR REPLACED BUT IT STILL HASN'T FIXED THE ISSUE. SEVERELY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE CAR ANYWHERE.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE (WITH MY FAMILY) AT 70MPH AND LOOSE POWER. DISPLAY SHOWS "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" JUST ABOUT GOT REAR ENDED BY A SEMI DUE TO POWER LOSS. HAD TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER WHILE DODGING TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND ME. VERY DANGEROUS. NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED AND COVERED BY GM.
ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, I WAS DRIVING IN THE INTERSTATE GOING ABOUT 70 MPH, WHEN MY VEHICLE DROPPED ITS SPEED TO 20 MPH ADVISING OF ' REDUCED ENGINE POWER ', THE SPEED DID NOT DECREASE WHICH CAUSED A HAULT & JERK. WHICH COULD HAVE TURNED FATAL IF THERE WAS A VEHICLE BEHIND ME. OCTOBER 30TH, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA WHEN I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AND MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, AFTER ABOUT 3 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE BATTERY AND A SENSOR HAD BEEN REPLACED. EXACTLY TWO WEEKS LATER, I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET AROUND 25-30MPH, APPROACHED A STOP AGAIN AND CAR POWERED OFF.. IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, I DO NOT DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY OUT OF FEAR THAT THE CAR MAY SHUT OFF. I'VE BEEN TO AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIPS & HAD THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED OUT BY CERTIFIED TRANSMISSIONS SHOPS AND CAN'T SOURCE THE PROBLEM
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH AND CAR STATES REDUCED POWER MODE. I COULD ONLY GO 20 MPH AND TRY TO CROSS 4 LANES OF A HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. I ALMOST KILLED SEVERAL PEOPLE INCLUDING MYSELF. I HAVE READ THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE AND I WANT IT FIXED.
AFTER PUTTING MY 2017 CHEVY MALIBU INTO PARK, I RECEIVED A "SHIFT TO PARK" MESSAGE ON THE DASH. THE CAR WOULD NOT FULLY TURN OFF. IT STAYED IN AUXILLARY POWER MODE. DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK, EMERGENCY LIGHTS STAY ON AND HAD A BEEPING SOUND. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVING ITSELF IRREGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES I TURNED IT OFF AND ON. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,400. (YES, THE MILEAGE IS 8,400. THIS IS NOT A TYPO.) THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARTIN CHEVROLET, LOCATED AT: 23505 HAWTHORNE BOULEVARD, TORRANCE CALIFORNIA, 90505. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE SEEN IT MULTIPLE TIMES. (IT IS A TRANMISSION CONTROL ASSEMBLY FAILURE). I ASKED IF IT WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND HE CONCURRED. HE SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL AT HIS TIME BUT THEY ARE EXPECTING ONE. I SPENT $550 TO HAVE THE REPLACEMENT DONE. GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO DECLARE A RECALL AND REFUND MY MONEY. A TWO YEAR OLD CAR WITH 8,400 MILES SHOULD NOT BE INCURRING MAJOR EXPENSES FOR FAULTY COMPONENTS.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN MY CAR DISPLAYED A WARNING ON THE DASH THAT THE POWER IS REDUCED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE SPEED REDUCED TO 20 AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. I RESTARTED IT AFTER A MINUTE AND THE TRACTION LIGHT WENT OFF BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE CAR THEN DROVE AT NORMAL SPEED THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THIS IS TERRIFYING AS I DIDN'T HAVE A SHOULDER TO PULL OFF AND HAD TO PULL IN SOMEONES DRIVEWAY. LUCKILY NOBODY PLOWED INTO ME. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR ANYWHERE
SHIFT TO PARK ERROR MESSAGE. CANT TURN OFF CAR. SHIFTER IS IN PARK BUT SHIFT TO PARK ERROR MESSAGE. NOT SURE IF CAR IS FULLY IN PARK. GOT REPAIRED TWICE BUT CAR DEALERSHIP SAID TEMPORARY FIX, THIS WILL KEEP HAPPENING. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF MORE THAN 5 TIMES WHILE DRIVING REQUIRING A TOW AND WORK DONE TO THE VEHICLE. THE ALTERNATOR, BATTERY, AND SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT THE VEHICLE STILL TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING.
I PURCHASED MY 2017 MALIBU FROM JUD KUHN IN SC, IT HAD 40,000 MILES WHEN PURCHASED. WEEK 2 I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT HIT THE GAS TO TAKE OFF THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE SO I HIT THE GAS A LITTLE HARDER STILL NOTHING THEN SUDDENLY IT JERKED AND TOOK OFF FAST. I THOUGHT MAYBE MY FOOT WASNT ON THE HAS RIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I GOT IN THE CAR TO BACK OUT MY DRIVE WAY AND IT DID IT AGAIN THE SAME EXACT WAY. THE SAME DAY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ONSTAR SENT ME A EMAIL ABOUT A EMISSION ISSUE. I CALLED THE CAR DEALER TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ACCELERATION ISSUE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT . A FEW DAYS LATER THE LIGHT RETURNED AND I CALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY SERVICED IT STATING THE CAR NEEDED A COMPUTER UPDATE AND CHARGED ME 100 DOLLARS AND STATED THEY COULDNT FIND THE PROBLEM WITH ACCELERATION AND THE UPDATE MAY HAVE FIXED IT. SUNDAY OCT 11TH I WENT TO LEAVE ME HOUSE AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE THE SAME THING HAPPENED HIT THE GAS WOULDN'MTOVE THEN TOOK OFF. I GOT OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY ONTO THE ROAD AND IT DID IT AGAIN. AT THIS POINT I'M SCEPTICAL ABOUT THE DEALER AS WELL AS THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE CHILDREN AND AM AFRAID THAT ONE DAY I WILL PULL OUT INFRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND MAY BE HIT BECAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION ISSUES. I'M CALLING THE DEALER AGAIN TODAY
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR STARTED TO SAY DRIVING ASSISTANCE OFF PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE THEN IT ACTS LIKE IT'S GOING TO TURN OFF. NOW ITS SYING
BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW FOR MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE BACK AND FORTH TO COLLEGE, I WANTED A SAFE CAR FOR HER, BUT THIS CAR IS ANYTHING BUT SAFE. STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH GETTING RANDOM STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS, THEN TPMS LIGHTS, THEN IT SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND NOW ITS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IS COSTING US HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN SERVICE FEES. BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED AND ITS STILL HAVING ISSUES. LATELY SHE HAS BEEN COMPLAINING THAT THE CAR SUDDENLY DRIFTS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SHE HAS TO MAKE CORRECTIONS THAT JERK HER ALL OVER THE ROAD. IT DOES THIS AT RANDOM, NOT EVERY DRIVE, MAYBE EVERY OTHER, IT FEELS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND NOT A MECHANICAL ISSUE. SHE HAS ALMOST CRASHED TWICE, WAS PULLED OVER THIS PAST WEEKEND COMING HOME FOR ANOTHER DEALERSHIP VISIT BECAUSE AN OFFICER NOTICED THE WEAVING AND CORRECTIONS AND ASSUMED SHE WAS DRUNK. AGAIN, THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE EXPLAINED THE ISSUE, BROUGHT IN A TECHNICAL BULLETIN THAT EXPLAINS THE EXACT ISSUE, STILL NO RESOLUTION, THEY STILL SAY THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING AND SEND ME HOME WITH ANOTHER BILL. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND ONCE WINTER HITS AND THE ROADS BECOME SLICK, THIS ISSUE WILL LIKELY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE REFUSED TO LET HER DRIVE IT TO COLLEGE AT THIS POINT AND THE CAR IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE DEALERSHIP IS USELESS EVEN AFTER SHOWING THEM HUNDREDS OF INTERNET COMPLAINTS. WHY IS GM IGNORING THIS ISSUE?
SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE (2017 MALIBU). THE FIRST TIME AT 30,000+ MILES, AND NOW AGAIN AT 74,000+ MILES. FORTUNATELY, THE 1ST WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THIS TIME WILL BE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES (FOR THE SAME ISSUE), AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE AN "UNNECESSARY" DIAGNOSTIC TESTING FEE. CONDUCTING RESEARCH REVEALS THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT PROBLEM WITH THIS MANUFACTURER AND/OR VEHICLE. CAN WE PLEASE GET A RECALL?
MY SUNROOF IS STUCK OPEN AND MY SEATS POWER GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY.
REAR CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS HAVE WORN OUT AFTER ONLY 40,000 MILES CAUSING A POPPING NOISE IN THE REAR SUSPENSION. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD NEED REPLACED EVERY 30,000 TO 40,000 MILES TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CONTROL ARM. POPPING COULD BE HEARD THE MOST WHEN FIRST TAKING OFF IN EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE.
IT TAKES A WHILE FOR THE CAR TO ACCELERATE ON HIGHWAYS OR STREETS. WITH MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR OF THE ACCELERATOR, IT GETS TO 20 MPH IN ABOUT 15-20 SECONDS WHICH PREVENTS ANY PICKUP. ONLY THING THAT HELPS THE PICKUP IS WHEN I USE OCTANE BOOSTER IN THE TANK AND IT'LL DRIVE AS IT SHOULD WITH PICKUP FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD (5 MILES) OTHERWISE THE ACCELERATION IS EXTREMELY LAGGY WITH NO PICKUP.
WHENEVER I FILL THE TAKE FROM E I HAVE TO AT LEAST REFILL AN ADDITIONAL TWO TIMES PER WEEK. THE GAS GOES REALLY FAST AND I CAN'T EVEN GET 13 GALLONS IN MY TANK.I GET ABOUT 21 MPG EVERY TRIP.
MY CARS CUT OFF AND THEN DISPLAY POWER STEERING REDUCES DRIVE WITH CAUTION THIS IS SCARY BECAUSE MY SON IS WITH ME IN THE CAR IT'S JUST CUT OFF EVERY TIME I STOP OR I'M DRIVING
RECENTLY I HAVE A MESSAGE APPEAR ON MY DISPLAY SCREEN. WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT OF COURSE THE CAR SHUTS OFF BUT WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND THE CAR STARTS BACK, I GET THE MESSAGE STEERING ASSIST REDUCED. I'VE BEEN SEEING THIS MESSAGE FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW. THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK, ONCE AGAIN THE MESSAGE APPEARS AND THIS TIME MY DOORS UNLOCKED & LOCKED, THE VEHICLE REDUCED SPEED AND I DROVE IT AT THAT SPEED UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO MERGE OFF THE HIGHWAY. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK BUT CONSTANTLY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR PARK WHEN I GOT TO A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. THIS REALLY SCARED ME WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SEVERAL CARS HAD TO GO AROUND ME DUE TO REDUCED SPEED. I SEE SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. GOT TO BE A RECALL. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A CHEVY DEALERSHIP ON TOMORROW AND HOPEFULLY I'LL GET SOME ANSWERS. PRAYING WHATEVER THE PROBLEM IS UNDER WARRANTY. I NEED ANSWERS!!!
VEHICLE WOULD INDICATE/NOTIFY TO SHIFT TO PARK EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE INDEED IN WAS IN PARK NOT ALLOWING YOU TO COMPLETE TURN CAR OFF. CAR WOULD REMAIN IN ANCILLARY MODE.
II BOUGHT MY 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS IN AUGUST OF 2017, IN JANUARY OF 2018 MY FIRST ENGINE LIGHT WARNING CAME ON WITH MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" CAME ON WHEN THE CAR WAS ALREADY IN PARK. I MOVED TO DENVER, CO IN JUNE OF 2018 , DURING MY LONG WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE ROCKIES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING "STABILITY TRACK ISSUES. IN NOVEMBER 2018 WHILE MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING HOME IN A SNOW STORM YET ANOTHER ENGINE LIGHT SHOWING "ENGINE POWEWR REDUCED" THE CAR WENT FROM A 45 MPH DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE OF HEAVY SNOW TO ALMOST 20 MPH TOO SLOW FOR FREEWAY SPEEDS EVEN IN SNOW. I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WAS A DIRTY SPEED SENSOR. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH I WAS REACHING THE END OF THE FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, I REACTED BY HITTING MY BRAKES BUT THE PEDAL WAS HARD AS A ROCK, I LOOKED UP AND I WAS FASTLY APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION SO I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE GOT ON THE RIIGHT DIRT SHOULDER, AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT DOWN TO ABOUT 35 MPH BEFORE REACHING THE INTERSECTION WHERE I TOOK A SHARP RIGHT TURN TO AVOID HITIING CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND SPUN OUT. THE CAR ISHOWED A MESSAGE "NO REMOTE DETECTED: IT WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START . BEING THAT THE CAR WARRENTY WAS ALREADY EXPIRED I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANICS SHOP WHERE THEY DISCOVERED A CODE READING "BRAKE BOOSTER SENSOR" THEY DISCOVERED A SHATTERED VACUUM PUMP. I GOT IT REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE AS WELL AS THE BRAKE SENSOR. I STILL HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO START IT. BECAUSE OF COVID-19 AND MY FINANCIAL SITUATION I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I AM SAVING TO HAVE IT TOWED THERE AND HOPEFULLY REPAIRING IT BUT I'M SURE IT'S NOT GOING TO BE WALLET FRIENDLY. WE WERE EXCITED WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR FIRST NEW CAR IT DIDN'T LAST LONG. The third time they experienced a failure occurred while idle at the light when the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The contact had to push the vehicle to the side of the road where they had to leave the vehicle for several hours before they were able to restart the vehicle. The check engine and engine power reduced warning lights were illuminated. The contact taken the vehicle to a certified mechanic who had not diagnosed the failure as of yet. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WILL DO WHEN THIS STOPS WORKING. THE DATE OF "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" IS THE MOST RECENT, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.

CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH A MESSAGE ON DASH SAYING 'ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED.' THE DEALERSHIP FIRST SAID IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THEN SAID IT WAS THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT. OUR CAR BEGAN SHOWING AN ERROR MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN THE SHIFTER WAS CORRECTLY IN THE ''PARK' POSITION AND YOU ATTEMPT TO TURN OF THE IGINITION. ESSENTIALLY THE CAR IS NOT RECOGNIZING THAT IT IS IN 'PARK' AND AS SUCH WOULD NOT TURN OFF OR LOCK CORRECTLY. THIS WOULD HAPPEN REPEATEDLY WHENEVER WE ATTEMPTED TO PARK THE CAR. THE DEALER TOLD US THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM AND (IF NOT CORRECTED) WOULD EVENTUALLY LEAD TO NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AS THE SENSOR IS TELLING THE CAR THAT IT IS NOT PARKED. I THINK THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND OBVIOUSLY WELL KNOWN BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED SO NO ONE IS INJURED IN A ROLL-AWAY TYPE ACCIDENT.

BEGINNING SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, THE VEHICLE WOULD OCCASIONALLY DISPLAY A "SHIFT TO PARK" ERROR MESSAGE AFTER THE "START/STOP" BUTTON WAS PRESSED TO TURN OFF THE PARKED VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OFF, ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WOULD REMAIN ON. FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS, THE ERROR MESSAGE WOULD DISAPPEAR AFTER A FEW SECONDS TO A MINUTE, AFTER WHICH THE "START/STOP" BUTTON TO BE PRESSED TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. OVER THE LAST MONTH, HOWEVER, THE AMOUNT OF TIME THE MESSAGE STAYED DISPLAYED INCREASED TO MANY MINUTES, AND IT WOULD TAKE TURNING THE CAR ON/OFF AND SHIFTING IN/OUT OF PARK MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY TURNED OFF COMPLETELY, I WASN'T ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR A FEW WEEKS FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AT WORK/STORES/ETC., OR FOR FEAR OF BEING STRANDED WHEN THE BATTERY DRAINS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT EFFECTIVELY MAKES THE VEHICLE UNUSABLE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO GM FOR MULTIPLE MODELS AND YEARS OF VEHICLES PER SERVICE BULLETIN 19-NA-206. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, HOWEVER, THE INITIALLY INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM QUICKLY TURNS INTO A PERMANENT, DISABLING PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, A MORE PERMANENT SOLUTION NEEDS TO BE PROVIDED THAN WHAT'S LISTED ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN: (A) SCRAPING DEPOSITS OFF THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS WITH YOUR THUMB 50 TIMES TO SEE IF THAT WORKS, (B) INSTALLING A JUMPER TO SEE IF THAT WORKS, OR (C) REPLACING THE SHIFTER CONTROL ASSEMBLY. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THE DESIGN OF THE NEW ASSEMBLY IS THE SAME, THE PROBLEM WILL REAPPEAR IN A FEW YEARS WITH THE REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY; ALL ARE JUST TEMPORARY STOP GAP MEASURES. A REAL FIX THAT PREVENTS THE CORROSION/DEPOSITS IS NEEDED, AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED.
THE NUTS USED TO FASTEN 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ARE NOT LOCKING NUTS THEREFOR LOOSEN CAUSING THE 3RD BREAK LIGHT TO FILTER TO LOOSEN AND BREAK. THIS ALSO CAUSES FLOODING IN THE TRUNK OF THE VEHICLE. I HAD 2 INCHES OF WATER IN THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT ALONG WITH A SOAKED TRUNK WHICH CAUSED A TERRIBLE SMELL. YOU WILL SEE IN THE PICTURES I HAVE TRIED TO REPAIR THE BROKEN PLASTIC ON THE BREAK LIGHT WITH AN EPOXY MIX. REPLACEMENT WOULD BE BETTER. I THINK BREAKAGE IS CAUSED BECAUSE THE NUTS LOOSEN.
