TL* CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND FAILED TO TURN. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL AND SPUN AROUND. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS NO REPORTED INJURIES OR POLICE REPORT FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AUTO CENTER CARS (727 N. ROYAL AVE. FRONT ROYAL, VA 22630 (540) 622-2667) BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE CHEVY MALIBU HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFTER. WHEN YOU PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK IT WILL SAY ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION PANEL TO SHIFT TO PARK EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY WHEN IT HAPPENS. GM NEEDS TO FIX IT. BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY AND THE CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNTIL TO SENSOR IS TOLD TO PUT IT IN PARK.
COMING HOME FROM FLORIDA TO ATHENS ALABAMA WE STOPPED AT A REST STOP AND I NOTICED MY BRAKES WAS REALLY HARD TO PUSH AND MADE A AWFUL NOISE. WE LOOKED AT THE BRAKES AND THOUGHT THE PADS WAS BAD. I MANAGED TO GET IT HOME LUCKILY ON MAJOR TRAFFIC JAMS ON INTERSTATE 65. MY HUSBAND PUT A CODE READER AND IT SAID BRAKE BOOSTER SENSOR BUT MY HUSBAND PULLED THE LINE FROM THE VACUUM PUMP AND THE VACUUM PUMP WASN'T PULLING.THANK GOD WE MADE IT HOME. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ON THIS WEBSITE A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. CAR IS NOW PARKED IN GARAGE WHAT TIL CHEVY DEALERSHIP OPENS ON MONDAY!!!
I'VE NOTICED THAT WHEN IT RAINS THE RAIN COMES INSIDE THE CAR AND THE TRUNK .
EVERYTIME I STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR BRAKE THE VEHICLE(WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN TRAFFIC)THE CAR COMPLETELY CUTS OFF.THE ALERT STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE CONSTANTLY COMES ON WHENEVER THERE IS AN AUTO STOP AND THE CAR RESTARTS. THE RADIO AND AIR WOULD ALSO TURN OFF WHEN AUTO STOP IS ACTIVATED. THIS TURN OFF ALSO CAUSES THE RADIO SCREEN TO GO BLACK FOR A SHORT TIME UNTIL IT RESTARTS. WHICH IS A BIG PROBLEM AND DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THE NORMAL AUTO STOP WOULD BE SOMEWHAT SILENT, BUT WHEN IT TURNS BACK ON NOW IT HISSES AND TURNS BACK ON. I ALSO HEAR SOMETHING AS IF WATER IS PASSING THROUGH PIPES AFTER AND/OR DURING AUTO STOP SOMETIMES. LASTLY, LAST NIGHT(7/8/20)I ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON MY CAR AND BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE CAR TURNED ON BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT DID NOT ALLOW ME TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEARS OR ACCELERATE. I NOTICED THE LIGHTS THAT ILLUMINATE,D,R,L,ETC. WAS NOT ILLUMINATING AT THAT TIME WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEARS. I THEN TURNED THE CAR OFF BUT IT STATED SHIFT TO PARK. NOTE THE CAR WAS IN PARK. AFTER I LET IT SIT IN PARK FOR A WHILE I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR AND IT RESTARTED. THE CAR SHIFTED IN TO GEARS AND ACCELERATED. NOTE: THE CAR ALLOWED ME TO MOVE THE SHIFT IN AND OUT OF GEARS BUT IT WAS NOT CATCHING. THE STOPPING ISSUE WIT THE STEERING REDUCED ALERT STARTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO(AROUND JUNE 25,2020). HEARING THE WATER SOUND BEGAN AROUND THE THE BEGINNING OF MARCH 2020. LASTLY THE SHIFTING ISSUE BEGAN LAST NIGHT,7/8/20. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I DO THE SPEED LIMIT 60-70 MPH. ON THE CITY STREETS I DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT RANGING 25MPH-40 MPH.
WHEN I GET TO A STOP LIGHT THE AUTO STOP ACTIVATES. WHEN THE CAR GOES TO TURN BACK ON IT TRIPS UP AND DIES COMPLETELY. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND THE CAR WON'T TURN BACK ON. I HAVE TO WAIT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR WILL TURN ON AGAIN. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM AT A RED LIGHT FOR LONGER THAN 30 SECONDS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN ROAD, THE CAR FLASHED 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER' AND STOPPED WORKING. I DID NOT LOSE ELECTRICAL POWER, BUT THE GAS PEDAL AND GEAR SHIFT FAILED TO WORK. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STILL NOTHING HAPPENED. SOME GOOD SAMARITANS HELPED PUSHED ME INTO THE MIDDLE LANE WHILE I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, MY CAR RESTARTED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I DROVE A FEW MILES TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE A DEFINITE FIX, INSTEAD THEY SAID THERE'S SOME CORROSION AROUND THE BATTERY. ACCORDING TO THIS SITE, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS OF OTHER 2017 MALIBU'S. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. *TR
EVERY TIME I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF THE CAR OFTEN TIMES TELLS ME TO SHIFT THE CAR TO PARK WHEN IT'S ALREADY IN PARK. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE SHORTLINE BUICK GMC LOCATED AT 1301 S HAVANA ST, AURORA, CO 80012, (303) 751-3400. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
ENTERED ON-RAMP TO HEAD SOUTH ON I-93 AND HALF-WAY UP THE RAMP IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE "REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT" CAME ON AND THE SPEED DROPPED IMMEDIATELY. I COULDN'T TURN AROUND AND GO HOME, SO I CONTINUED DOWN THE INTERSTATE GOING IN AND OUT OF THE BREAKDOWN LANE TO AVOID UPCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO DEALERSHIP AND DROPPED OFF VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN WORKING FROM HOME SINCE MARCH 15, 2020, SO I PROBABLY PUT APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE SINCE THE ECM WAS REPLACED. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON THAT THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. HOWEVER, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE!!! I'M THINKING PEOPLE HAVE DIED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE - IT IS SO UNSAFE!!!! I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP.
RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, WHEN I LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE CAR SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES, THREE WITHIN THE LAST WEEK. I CAN START TO AGAIN, ALSO LOOSE ALL VOLUME TO TURN SIGNALS AND RADIO. *TR
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that since purchasing the vehicle, the check engine warning light had remained illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would vibrate and stall without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer as well as several independent mechanics where various repairs were performed; however, despite each repair, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
MY 2017 CHEVY MALIBU HAD THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED COME ON..IT WAS THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR..I GOT IT FIXED PAID ALMOST 400$..NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER IT'S DOING IT AGAIN
I AM A 70 YEAR OLD TEACHER THAT PURCHASED A 2017 CHEVY IMPALA ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, AND LAST YEAR I BEGAN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE CAR MALFUNCTIONING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. I TOOK THE CAR TO CHEVROLET OF TURNERSVILLE, THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT, BUT THEN THIS PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WITHIN A MONTH, AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT BACK TO THEM THEY "DIAGNOSED" SOMETHING DIFFERENT. LATER, COME TO FIND OUT, THIS CAR WAS RECALLED FOR "PRE IGNITION ISSUES", SO THEY ISSUED ME A REFUND FOR THE COST OF THOSE "REPAIRS". LAST WEEK, THE SAME EXACT ISSUED RECURRED, SO I TOOK IT BACK TO CHEVY, FOR THEM TO SAY IT WAS MY BATTERY. $400 LATER, I GOT THE CAR BACK, AND WITHIN A MATTER OF DAYS, THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED SO I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM NOW TO SAY THAT MY PISTON HEAD IN ENGINE WAS CRACKED, SO NOW THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH WOULD BE AROUND $8000. I SPOKE WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER AND THE BEST HE COULD DO WAS TO TELL ME HE WOULD "TRY" TO WORK UP SOME NUMBERS TO GET ME INTO ANOTHER CAR. I PLAN TO RETIRE NEXT YEAR, WHICH IS WHY I PURCHASED SOMETHING REASONABLY PRICED AND PRESUMABLY "RELIABLE", SO I WILL SOON BE ON A FIXED INCOME AND CAN'T AFFORD THAT TYPE OF FIX, NOR ANOTHER CAR WITH THE BALANCE OF THIS FAULTY CAR TACKED ON TO THE BALANCE. WITH RESEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THE PRE IGNITION ISSUE RESULTS IN THE CRACKING OF THE PISTON HEAD, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE PRE IGNITION ISSUE WAS NEVER CORRECTED PROPERLY. ESPECIALLY SINCE BASED ON 17019 SPI NHTSA, THE FIX DIFFERED FROM WHAT THIS DEALERSHIP DID AND UNDER THIS PLAN THE FIX WAS BEING SERVICED AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER. SINCE THIS ISSUE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, I'VE BEEN ON HIGHWAYS, SIDE STREETS, AND STATIONARY AT TRAFFIC SIGNALS WHICH HAVE ALL POSED SAFETY RISKS. *TR
First incident, vehicle in motion moving about 45 MPH approached red light vehicle started making loud tick noise when to start to slow down and break pedal was solid not able to slow the vehicle down. Panicked, 3 children in my car in fear for their safety. Was able to put both feet and press as hard as I could to attempt to stop the car. Car thankfully came to a stop and was able to pull over exit the car and have towed to dealership. Dealership inspected vehicle and decided that the vacuum pump had locked up and the case and gear had broken apart. Replaced part and everything was working. Second incident, noticed fluid on driveway, took car to dealership and they stated the vacuum pump was leaking, changed gasket. Third incident, driving car down the highway, vehicle lost speed (jumped) and check engine light came on. Exited highway and car shut off and breaks were again solid had to again use two feet to press as hard as I could in order to not blow through an intersection. Was able to get off road call tow truck and tow to closest shop. They inspected vehicle and found the vacuum pump locked up again and broken pieces where sent into the engine and destroyed the cam shaft.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON'REDUCED ENGINE SPEED' AND THE CAR SLOWED WAY DOWN TO 30MPH IN SECONDS, I WAS ALMOST HIT BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY INTERSTATE TRAFFIC MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE ROUGHLY AND CUT OFF TWICE IN TRAFFIC. ONCE IT CRANK FULLY IT ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED JUST BARELY MISSING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I WENT TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A WIDE KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO RECALL IN PLACE. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE THAT DAY. *TR
VEHICLE STUCK IN REVERSE SHIFT LOCK HAD AN INTERNAL FAILURE AND WAS REPLACED BY THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. REPLACED SHIFTER DUE TO STUCK LOCK. PULLED UP TO CAR WASH PUT CAR IN REVERSE SHIFTER LOCKED AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE OUT OF REVERSE. TOLL TRUCK CAME AND DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY MOVE CABLE UNDER THE HOOD SO I COULD PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SHIFTED INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF A MESSAGE ON THE DRIVER CONTROL SCREEN STATES TO SHIFT TO PARK AND WILL LEAVE THE CAR BATTERY ON AND WILL BEEP THE DOORS ARE OPEN. HAPPENS 70 PERCENT OF THE TIME. TYPICALLY TO GET THE MESSAGE TO GO AWAY I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND SHIFT OUT OF PARK, SHIFT BACK INTO PARK AND TURN OFF AGAIN SOMETIMES I HAVE TO DO THIS SEVERAL TIMES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TODAY GOING AROUND 70 MPH AND MY CAR DISPLAYED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND DECELERATED. IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAS DONE THIS BUT IT WAS THE FIRST TIME DRIVING AT THAT HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE OTHER TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS WHEN I WAS GOING MORE THAN MAYBE 40 MPH. EACH TIME IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND START IT AGAIN, THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER DISPLAY IS GONE AND I DONT HAVE ANYMORE IMMEDIATE ISSUES WITH IT, SOMETIMES FOR DAYS OR WEEKS AT A TIME. I HAVE NOTICED ONLINE THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED SOMETHING SIMILAR WITH THEIR 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU.
THE 2017 MALIBU GIVES A MESSAGE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN "PARK," WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ALREADY IN PARK. THE DISPLAY SCREEN STAYS LIT UP TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. YOU CANNOT LOCK THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS WENT ON FOR 15 ABOUT MINUTES. AFTER MOVING THE GEAR SHIFTER BACK & FORTH, THE ERROR MESSAGE FINALLY GOES OFF. ITS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE, IF YOU CANT LOCK & SECURE THE CAR.
WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF I AM GETTING A MESSAGE THAT SAYS SHIFT TO PARK. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE.
DROVE 30 MILES SINCE THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR THIS ISSUE. STARTED MY VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT" CAME ON. SO FRUSTRATING AND A WASTE OF TIME!! I IMMEDIATELY DROVE BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. A BUNCH OF CODES CAME UP. THEY REMOVED AND REPLACED THE ECM. ROAD TESTED FOR 45 MILES BEFORE RETURNING VEHICLE. *TR
SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE WHILE BUCKLING, STUCK IN THE UNBUCKLED POSITION. WILL NOT RELEASE. STATIONARY.
Back left door will not open, from inside or outside. Has happen before and then will open a few days later. this time it’s been a week. Black paint also needs to be recalled.
WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR BEGAN BEEPING AND DISPLAYED 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER' ON THE SCREEN. THE TRACTION LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON. THE CARS SPEED WAS IMMEDIATELY REDUCED ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A SEMI BEHIND AND BESIDE ME. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER. I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR TWICE IN ORDER TO BE ABLE DRIVE IT HOME. THIS WAS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING SITUATION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. UPON GOOGLING THIS ISSUE, MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL! IF MY REACTION TIME WASN'T A FAST AS IT WAS TODAY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT, OR WORSE. GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS.
EVERYT I PUT MY CAR IN PARK I GET AN ERROR STATING SHIFT TO PARK AND THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF. THE CAR IS IN PARK WHEN I'M TRYING TO TURN THE CAR OFF. TOOK MY CAR TO CHEVY AND THERE IS SOME FAULTY PAPER WORK . I SIGNED OFF ON ONE CONTRACT THEN I WAS CALLED IN AND WAS TOLD SOME OF MY SIGNATURE DIDNT DO THROUGH AND NOW ITS SHOWING I CANCELED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH I NEVER DID. I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK. THEY REVISED MY ORIGINAL CONTRACT WITH GOING OVER THE NEW CONTRACT. NOW IM STUCK WITH AN EXPENSIVE BILL FOR REPAIR BECAUSE I ASSUMED I WAS SIGNING THE SAME CONTRACT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST FOR REPAIR. ITHIS IS NOT A USER ISSUE THIS IS A GM ISSUE.
1ST SCENARIO/INCIDENT:WHEN AT A FULL STOP THE CAR IS IN "AUTO STOP". AFTER WHEN I RELEASE THE BREAK AND ACCELERATE THE CAR TURNS BACK ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL JERK TO THE LEFT, WITHOUT ME MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DASH WILL DISPLAY MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE". 2ND SCENARIO/INCIDENT:WHEN AT A FULL STOP AT AN UPWARD STEEP ROAD AFTER I RELEASE THE BREAK AND ACCELERATE THE MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE" WILL APPEAR ON THE DASH AND THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD IT WILL ROLL BACKWARD UNTIL THE BREAK IS PRESSED IT WILL STOP ROLLING BACK. AFTER THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED AGAIN IT WILL FINALLY MOVE FORWARD.
CRUISING TO WORK ON I-93 IN CONCORD, NH TRAVELING AROUND 70 MPH AND IT JUST LOST POWER AGAIN!!! THE "REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT" CAME ON AND VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO 25-30 MPH. THANKFULLY THERE WASN'T A VEHICLE BEHIND ME. I WOULD HAVE BEEN "KILLED". DROPPED VEHICLE TO CHEVY DEALER. THEY FOUND P2127 FOR ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR FAILURE, REPLACED GAS PEDAL, CLEARED CODES, ROAD TESTES. MILEAGE 76,473. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN FOR THE FOURTH TIME, SAME ISSUE. I WILL REPORT EACH INCIDENT SEPARATELY. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH OR SO MY CAR HAS DISPLAYED A WARNING THAT SAYS ENGINE POWER REDUCED, AND EVEN IF YOU'RE GOING HIGHWAY SPEED, WILL REDUCE YOUR SPEED DOWN TO AROUND 20 MPH. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, IT WAS AROUND 6PM IN BUSY TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO WRECK. IT STOPPED HAPPENING FOR A WHILE, BUT NOW IT HAS DONE IT OVER 20 TIMES IN THE PAST 48 HOURS. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOUR VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
WHEN PUTTING GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK A MESSAGE STATES THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. HAVE TO PLAY WITH SHIFT LEVER TO GET IT TO RESPOND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE LOTS OF POSTS ON FORUMS OF THIS PROBLEM THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS 2 -3 TIMES A WEEK. *TR
I WAS ON A HIGHWAY IN WARREN OH DRIVING TO WORK TRAVELING AT 65 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE. A MESSAGE APPEARED AND SAID LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND THE AT WENT FROM 65 TO 20 IN 1 SECOND. THERE WERE VEHICLES BEHIND ME AND BESIDE ME. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND WHEN I TRIED TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I WAS ALMOST SMASHED BY A SEMI. AS WELL AS THAT MESSAGE IT THEN STATED STEERING ASSIST INACTIVE SO IT WAS THEN HARD TO TURN MY WHEEL AS IF THERE WASN'T ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM. THANK GOD I AM OK BUT SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS THAT I SEE ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HOW IS THERE NOT A RECALL. GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE REPAIRS. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN NOV 2019.
LATELY WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT OR INTERSECTION MY VEHICLE AUTO STOPS BUT WHEN I TRY TO GO THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT START. I HAVE TO PUT ON MY FLASHERS WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND SHUT THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF UNTIL IT RESTARTS. ONE OF THE WARNINGS READ STABIL AND ANOTHER READS POWER SHUT OFF AS WELL AS BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG SO THEY RESET THE SYSTEM HOWEVER, THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE REMAINS. THIS STARTED THE BEGINNING OF MARCH AND HAS CONTINUED.
ON TUESDAY, MARCH 3, 2020, I WAS TRAVELING ON THEY HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR REDUCED SPEED. AND THE ENGINE POWER REDUCE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 PM DURING RUSH HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS NO ALERT PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING AND A VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD TO QUICKLY GO AROUND ME. I COULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. ONCE I GOT BACK ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP.
WELL I'M DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY AND THE CAR STAR LOSSING POWER I ALMOST CRASH THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURN ON AND IT'S SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THE STABILITY SOMENTIHIN LIKE THAT AND THAT I HAVE TO BE BECARFULL DRIVING
VEHICLE STABILITY TRACK DISABLED AND STEERING GET STIFF AND HARD TO CONTROL. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND 1000'S OF PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED IT. DEALER WANT TO CHAR $2,700 TO FIX FOR AN ISSUE THAT WAS REPORTED AS A DANGEROUS AND KNOWN TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE WARNING COME ON INTERMENT AND MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL SPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEED. ALL OTHER SAFETY FEATURES SUCH AS ACCIDENT WARNING OR LANE DEPARTURE GETS DISABLED
DIC INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN SHUTTING DOWN ENGINE BEGINNING AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS NOT COVERED BY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH TWO TSBS ISSUED BUT NO RECALL. RESEARCH SHOWS OWNERS PAYING $200 TO $700 FOR REPAIRS WHEN OUT OF WARRANTY. I REPLACED "PARK" SWITCH WITH PN: 653-D2HW-BL221H AT 31,000 MILES. $12 INCLUDING SHIPPING. WHY WOULD THEY RECALL WHEN IT'S A "CASH COW" FOR CHEVROLET.

ONCE AGAIN I HAD TO PULL OVER TURNED MY CAR ON/OFF ABOUT 3 TIMES IN 20 MINS FOR LIGHT TO GO AWAY AND CAR DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN . THIRD TIME TODAY 2/27/20 AT MAYBE 10 MPH MY DASH LIT UP ONCE AGAIN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT GO AWAY THIS TIME . BUT CAR DROVE FINE AFTERWORDS LUCKILY IT HASN'T HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR . ALL THIS IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH 20 MILES JUNE 1ST 2017 AND CURRENTLY HAS 38K MILES . THIS DEFINITELY HAS TO BE FIXED BEFORE IT CAUSES SERIOUS ACCIDENTS !

I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 47MPH ON A MAJOR STREET IN DENVER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AT THE SAME TIME, THE DISPLAY READ "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION. MY SPEED DROPPED TO ABOUT 20MPH VERY QUICKLY (5 TO 8 SECONDS). LUCKILY THERE WAS RELATIVELY LIGHT TRAFFIC. I PULLED INTO AN AUTOZONE THAT WAS AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION AND THEY READ THE ERROR CODE P2138. COME TO FIND OUT THIS SHOWS AN ERROR WITH THE THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION CENSOR. I GOT BACK IN MY CAR TO DRIVE HOME AND WITHIN 30 SECONDS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND MY CAR RAN LIKE NORMAL. I'M STILL VERY WORRIED ABOUT THIS SENSOR HOWEVER. WHEN I LOOKED THIS UP ONLINE TONIGHT, I CAME TO FIND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM YET CHEVY HAS DECIDED NOT TO RECALL THIS PART. I TOOK IT TO A VENDOR WHO SEARCHED THE CODE MY CAR PRODUCED AND IT WAS "P2138", WHICH IS "THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/ SWITCH D/ E VOLTAGE CORRELATION". I SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE TO FIND A TON OF SIMILAR IF NOT THE EXACT SAME ISSUES WITH OTHER CHEVY MALIBUS.THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE! I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.

COST 237.94 TWO DAYS LATER CAR CONTINUES TO SAY SHIFT TO PARK. TOOK BACK TO DEALER, THEY NOW SAY WHOLE HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED. $312. I HAVE NOT PAID IT. DOING RESEARCH LOOKED ON INTERNET AND SEE SEVERAL OTHERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE MALIBU. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. I WORKED FOR GENERAL MOTORS FOR 14 YEARS. THIS IS A PROBLEM GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, NOT THE PEOPLE WHO GIVE THEM BUSINESS. IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP

TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG. A MONTH LATER SAME EXACT ISSUE. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY AT 30MPH WHEN ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND SPEED WAS AFFECTED AGAIN. NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT IS REMAINING ON.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING 35MPH WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A NOTIFICATION CAME ON MY DASHBOARD SAYING "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED". THE CAR IMMEDIATELY WENT FROM 35MPH TO 20MPH; I'M LUCKY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 8 DAYS AGO AT 35,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH THE ACCELERATION PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. THE CAR IS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES NOW.
HYBRID BATTERY CORROSION DUE TO FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT LETTING WATER INTRUDE INTO TRUNK. I WAS OUT OF COUNTRY FOR MOST OF 2019 AND WHEN I RETURNED I WENT THROUGH MAIL AND DISCOVERED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT WATER CAN GET INTO TRUNK AND CABIN FROM A CHMSL. I CHECKED MY TRUNK AND IT WAS FULL OF WATER AND METAL ITEMS ARE AND WERE OXIDIZED AS WELL AS THE HYBRID BATTERY IN THE TRUNK. THIS CORROSION WILL NOT STOP ONCE ESTABLISHED ESPECIALLY WITH CHARGED ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. AND PREMATURELY SHORTENING THE LIFE OF THE HYBRID BATTERY DUE TO POOR QUALITY AND DEFECTIVE NUTS USED TO SECURE THE CHMSL.
