TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT LOSSES OF POWER WITH HIS VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT BOTH LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS, BUT WAS ORIGINALLY NOTICED AT 60 MPH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE LOSING POWER. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART, BUT OTHER TIMES, IT WOULD TAKE LONGER TO DO SO. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL PERTAINING TO THIS FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE; HOWEVER, HE WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE HIS CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000. UPDATED 7/3/08 *CN

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN ABNORMAL HUMMING SOUND AND BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ABS SENSORS WOULD HAVE TO BE CLEANED. IN ADDITION, THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THE ABS FUSE BE DISCONNECTED TO PERMANENTLY PREVENT THE FAILURE BUT THE ABS FUNCTION WOULD NO LONGER BE OPERABLE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK) AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WHO THEN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. UPDATED 11/15/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THAT AN INTERNET SEARCH RECOMMENDED TO PULL OUT THE ABS FUSE TO DISABLE THE ABS SYSTEM, SO IT WONT CRASH THE TRUCK. I BOUGHT A NEW CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 4X4 IN JULY OF 2001. I DON'T DRIVE IT THAT MUCH, AND WHEN I DO, IT IS MOSTLY FREEWAY MILES. ABOUT 5 TIMES/YEAR I'LL TOW A LIGHT BOAT TO PUGET SOUND, AND AFTER COMING BACK ALWAYS HOSE OFF THE BOAT, TRAILER, AND SALT WATER EXPOSED AREA OF THE TRUCK. IN 2004 AT 6770 MILES, THE REAR ROTORS, CALIPERS AND PADS WERE RUINED (UNDER WARRANTY--CAUSE DETERMINED TO BE DEBRIS CAUGHT UP IN MECHANISM). GOOD CHEVROLET FIXED PERFECTLY. NOW IN MARCH 2008 AT ONLY 18,700 MILES (12K MILES ON NEW BRAKES), THE REAR BRAKES NEED TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT. GOOD IS SAYING THE CAUSE IS SALT WATER. AND OF COURSE THE WARRANTY IS LONG OVER----LOOKING AT $2000 TO FIX. I SAY HOGWASH! BRAKES SHOULD NOT FALL APART AFTER 12,000 GENTLE MILES. I DON'T FOUR WHEEL DRIVE EXCEPT ON RARE OCCASION TO GET OVER THE MOUNTAIN PASS---AND THAT'S ON SNOW. I AM EASY WITH THIS TRUCK. I DON'T SPEED AROUND AND SLAM ON THE BRAKES EVER. NEVER. I AM PRETTY SURE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. JUST GOOGLED UP A SIMILAR CASE OF A 2002 SILVERADO IN COLORADO WITH 28,000 MILES AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO RUST. I'LL REPAIR BRAKES ELSEWHERE. I'LL WAIT AND SEE IF SOME CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COMES OF THIS. IT'S TOO BAD. THE TRUCK IS PRETTY NICE, BUT HAVING BRAKES FALL APART FOR NO GOOD REASON IS BS AND TOO EXPENSIVE, NOT TO MENTION AS WELL AS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE ABS ACTIVATED PREMATURELY. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TOOK APPROXIMATELY TEN EXTRA FEET TO STOP. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INOPERATIVE. VOLTS GAUGE WOULD READ LOW. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND THE BATTERY WAS PROVIDING THE PROPER 13.8 VOLTS. *TR
ON MANY GM TRUCKS,SUVS AND CARS FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILURE IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM. WE HAVE REPLACED NO LESS THAN 10 OF THESE AT A COST OF APPROX. 500.00 PER ITEM. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM WITH JUST US. MANY DEALERS SEE THIS AS A RECALL ITEM. *TR
THE VEHICLE WOULD EITHER STALL WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OR FAIL TO START. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED EMPTY WHICH WAS INACCURATE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED, COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. CAR WOULD NOT CRANK AT FIRST BUT THEN STARTED, THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY BECOME HESITANT TO START. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO STALL PERIODICALLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE OTHER COMPONENTS, SUCH AS THE RADIO, WERE STILL OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY BECOME HESITANT TO START. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO STALL PERIODICALLY WITHOUT WARNING. AUTORIDE SUSPENSION, NOT WORKING. HARSH RIDE WITHOUT SHOCK DAMPERING. FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT FREQUENTLY LOCKS UP AND WILL NOT EXTEND ENOUGH TO SECURE A PERSON. SEAT BELT OFTEN LOCKS UP WHEN PASSENGER IS BELTED IN AND PASSENGER CANNOT MOVE. *TR
I HAVE A 2001 SILVERADO. MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ARE COMING ON AT SLOW SPEEDS, MAKING IT SOMETIMES VERY HARD TO STOP. YESTERDAY WHEN PULLING INTO MY WORK PARKING SPACE I COULD NOT STOP AND JUMPED THE CURB. IF THERE WERE SOMEONE WALKING ON THE SIDEWALK THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING UP AN UNPAVED HILL THAT WAS SLIPPERY FROM SNOW BUT HAD BEEN PLOWED. IT WAS NIGHT TIME AND THE HILL IS STEEP WITH LOTS OF SHARP CURVES. ON MY WAY UP I NOTICED MY STEERING BECAME STIFF. I CAME TO A POINT WHERE I WAS NOT MAKING ANY MORE FORWARD PROGRESS AND HAD TO STOP.(MY TIRES ARE NOT THE BEST) WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES I THEN REALIZED I DIDN'T HAVE ANY. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE BEFORE I STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS TO FAST AND SAFELY MANEUVER BACK DOWN THE HILL BACKWARDS WITHOUT COMPLICATIONS. WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP,SPEED LESS THAN 10 MPH. COULD NOT STOP, AND SOUNDED LIKE BRAKE SHOES NEEDED REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING SHOES, STILL SAME SOUND. MORE WORK ON BRAKES, NO IMPROVEMENT STILL. THEN TALKED TO MUFFLER BROTHERS, FRANKLIN OHIO. ALSO GAS GAGE ACTING UP. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DOING 50MPH IS A SEVERE STORM WHEN THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SUFFERED A BELT SEPARATION CAUSING SPIN AND HITTING BACKWARDS INTO A CONCRETE CENTER DIVIDE. THE COLLISION WITH THE DIVIDE CAUSED OVER $7500 WORTH OF DAMAGE. IT WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER - THIS TIRE WAS A SUPER SWAMPER RADIAL TSL 33X14.5 R16 WITH APPROXIMATELY 24K MILES ON THEM. *TR
FUEL GAUGE ERRATIC. SAYS LOW FUEL UPON FILL UP. DOESN'T STAY SETTLED TO GIVE GOOD FUEL READING. *TR
THE ABS AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AT RANDOM. THERE IS NOISE FROM THE FRONT TIRES WHEN YOU MAKE A TURN, THE BRAKES I WOULD ASSUME. THE BRAKE PAD HAVE BEEN CHANGED. THE GAS LIGHT FLIPS BACK AND FORTH FROM FULL TO EMPTY, HAVE TO USE THE MILEAGE TO KNOW WHEN TO GET GAS. AND THE GAS PEDAL STICKS, NOT GOOD IN TRAFFIC. *TR
CHEVROLET HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR LOW SPEED ANTI-LOCK BRAKE FAILURE FOR 2001 MODEL SILVERADOS. THE RECALL INCLUDES ALL RUST BELT STATES. I HAVE BEEN HAVING FAILURE OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IN SPEEDS OF 5 MPH OR BELOW. THEY CLAIM THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, BUT THEY ADMIT THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME EQUIPMENT THAT IS ON MY TRUCK. HOW CAN THEY ISSUE A RECALL AND NOT INCLUDE ALL MODELS THAT HAVE THIS FAULTY EQUIPMENT. GM HAS AGREED WITH ME THAT MY PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS WHAT THE RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR, BUT THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, BECAUSE "YOUR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL GROUP." THEY STATE THAT I HAVE NOT HAD REGULAR SERVICE DONE ON MY VEHICLE AT A DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WILL NOT COVER IT FOR THAT REASON. MY TRUCK IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, AND WELL CARED FOR, JUST NOT A DEALERSHIP. THERE IS NOWHERE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL THAT STATES THAT YOU MUST HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT A DEALERSHIP IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE PROPER REPAIRS WHICH HAVE BEEN DEEMED NOT SAFE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH OR BELOW, THE ABS SENSOR FAILED AND PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM STOPPING. THE CONTACT HAS HAD ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOOK APART THE COMPONENT AND PLACED IT BACK IN THE LOCATION THAT THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED. THE FIRST TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO HIS VEHICLE BECAUSE HE DOES NOT LIVE IN A HIGH CORROSION AREA. AS OF JANUARY 9, 2008, THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
MY SILVERADO'S BRAKES ARE VIBRATING AND FAILING TO STOP ,AGAIN ! BOTH FRONT WHEEL SENSORS WERE REPLACED,PER G. M.'S RECALL. ALSO I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THIS FAILURE TO STOP HAS NEARLY CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS. ON ONE OCCASION THE VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED AFTER RUNNING INTO A CHAIN STRETCHED ACROSS A DRIVEWAY,THIS RESULTED IN SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT GRILL. I TEMPORARILY DISABLED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BY REMOVING THE FUSE, BUT THIS DISABLES THE CRUISE CONTROL AS WELL. IT IS VERY MUCH A MATTER OF SAFETY THAT THE TRUCK STOPS WHEN IT IS SUPPOSED TO. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED AUTOMATICALLY. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). HE FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. ON CERTAIN MODELS OF THE SILVERADO THERE IN A ENGINE NOISE DUE TO FAILURE OF POSITION SKIRTS AND WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE LOSS OF POWER MORE EMISSIONS AND GM WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE 4 FIRESTONE WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE DEFECTIVE. THEY ARE ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD BUT IN THE LAST 3 YEARS I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THEM ABOUT 3,000 MILES. I RECENTLY DISCOVERED A SIDEWALL SEPARATION ON ALL 4 OF THESE TIRES ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRES. I HAVE REMOVED THE TIRES AND REPLACED THEM WITH GOODYEAR TIRES. I HAVE SAVED THE OLD TIRES FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. *TR

VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING,ALMOST INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT SINCE I WAS GOING DOWNHILL. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. RESTARTED TWO HOURS LATER AFTER TOW TO GARAGE. DEALER INSPECTED AND FOUND FAULTY CRANK SENSOR CODE. DEALER FOUND NHTSA RECALL # 07V521000 WAS JUST ISSUED, HOWEVER MY SERIAL # WAS NOT RECALLED. I BELIEVE ALL 2001 MODELS WITH THIS POWER TRAIN SHOULD BE RECALLED TO REPAIR THIS DEFECTIVE PART. *TR

THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AFTER TWO MINUTES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 210,848.

THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 97,848. THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE BRAKE LINES WITH STAINLESS STEEL DUE TO THE CORROSION OF THE LINES. UPDATED 12/12/07
THE LATCH ON THE RIGHT SIDE IS WEEK AND KEEPS BENDING, NOT ALLOWING THE LATCH TO ENGAGE CORRECTLY AND HAS DISENGAGED MANY TIMES. *TR
BRAND NEW SET OF HANKOOK WAS INSTALLED PROFESSIONALLY AND INFLATION WAS CHECKED EVERY WEEK. SIDEWALL SEPARATION OCCURRED 1 MONTH (2,000 MILES) AFTER INSTALLATION RESULTING IN A LARGE KNOT ON THE SIDEWALL. CURRENTLY TRYING TO CONTACT RETAILER AND MANUFACTURER FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS APPLIED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN CAUSED THE PARKING BRAKE PADS TO RUB AGAINST THE DRUM. AS A RESULT, THE PARKING BRAKE WAS INEFFECTIVE IN IMMOBILIZING THE PARKED VEHICLE. AS OF NOVEMBER 19, 2007, THE MECHANIC HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V161000 (PARKING BRAKE). THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

HE STATED THAT DIESEL FUEL WAS ENTERING INTO THE CRANKCASE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALER REGARDING A RECALL NOTICE HE RECEIVED IN 2004 FOR THE FUEL INJECTORS. HE SHOWED GENERAL MOTORS THE NOTICE BEFORE THE REPAIR WAS MADE. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, GENERAL MOTORS LEARNED THAT HE HAD A SALVAGE TITLE AND INFORMED HIM THAT HE HAD TO PAY $4,800 FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTICE NEVER STATED ANYTHING ABOUT THE VEHICLE BEING A SALVAGE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN GM'S IMPOUND LOT BECAUSE THE CONTACT CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE PURCHASE DATE AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 96,000.

THE ABS SENSOR CAUSED THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE TO CHATTER WHEN ALMOST TO A STOP. ON WET PAVEMENT THE WHEEL WOULD SLIDE. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO MY DEALER FOR REPAIR. THEY SAID THAT RUST WAS FORMING BETWEEN THE CASTING AND THE SENSOR AND LIFTING THE SENSOR UP. THEY HAVE SEEN THIS SEVERAL TIMES. THEY TOOK THE SENSOR OUT AND CLEANED THE CASTING AND SENSOR SPRAYED A ANTI RUST ON BOTH AND REPLACED THE SENSOR. THINGS WORK OK NOW. *TR
VEHICLE IS 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD WITH 6.6L DURAMAX DIESEL AND ALLISON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AT APPROXIMATELY 88,000 MILES / APPROX 2500 HOURS, THE TRANSFER CASE HYDRAULIC PUMP WORE THROUGH THE REAR HALF OF THE TRANSFER CASE, RESULTING IN LARGE AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID BEING RELEASED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SINCE THE OIL IS FLAMMABLE AND IT GETS SPRAYED ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE (INCLUDING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM) IT PROBABLY PRESENTS A FIRE HAZARD. MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD2500 P/U STARTED HAVING INTERMITTENT STALLING PROBLEMS IN JULY 2007. THE ENGINE WOULD DIE AND IT WOULD TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO RESTART. FINALLY IN SEPT 2007 IT DIED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN I WAS TRAVELING AT OVER 65 MPH. THE POWERSTEERING STOPPED AND THE POWER BRAKE ASSIST STOPPED. I WAS LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T HAVE A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND CHARGED ME $420.99. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 37,546 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME BUT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS SINCE THE REPAIR. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET ABOUT THEIR RECALL # 06083 NHTSA ID#07V521000 AND THEY ADVISED THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SINCE IT IS THE SAME 8.1 ENGINE AND YEAR/MODEL. I HAVE A 2001, 2500HD CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK THAT IS EXPERIENCING FUEL GAUGE ISSUES. THE FUEL GAUGE FLOATS AROUND AT RANDOM AND CAUSES THE LOW FUEL LIGHT TO COME ON EVEN WHEN THE TRUCK HAS A FULL TANK OF FUEL. CONSEQUENTLY, THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT RELIABLE IN DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK. IT OFTEN READS THAT THE TANK IS HALF FULL WHEN I KNOW THAT IT IS CLOSE TO EMPTY. THEREFORE, THIS POSES A DANGER GIVEN THAT THE DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW IF THE TRUCK HAS ENOUGH FUEL OR NOT TO REACH THE INTENDED DESTINATION. IN FACT IT COULD LEAVE MY WIFE OR I STRANDED ON THE ROAD AND POTENTIALLY IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE HAS THE SAME YEAR CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK AND IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. THEREFORE I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM TO BE WIDE SPREAD. I HAVE CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE REGARDING THIS MATTER AND THEY SUGGESTED TO HAVE IT CHECK BY A LOCAL DEALER. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL DEALER ONLY TO LEARN THAT THE TRUCK HAS A BAD "SENDING UNIT" IN THE FUEL TANK. VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE BECAUSE OF IT'S LOCATION. AFTER FOLLOWING UP WITH GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE REGARDING THE KNOW PROBLEM THEY BOUNCED ME AROUND TO SEVERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. AFTER FINALLY GETTING SOMEONE ASSIGNED TO MY CASE, THEY CONTACTED ME ONCE VIA VOICE MAIL. AFTER WEEKS OF TRYING TO RETURN THERE CALL AND LEAVE THEM VOICE MAILS - I RECEIVED NO CALL BACKS. I EVEN CALLED THE GENERAL GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE LINE AND TOLD THE PERSON THAT ANSWERED TO PUT ME THROUGH TO THE PERSON ASSIGNED TO MY CASE, I WAS PROMPTLY TOLD THAT SHE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. LATER I RECEIVE AN E-MAIL FROM THEM TELLING ME THAT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REACH ME AND THAT MY TRUCK HAS 133,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME. I AM A LOYAL GM CUSTOMER AND FEEL BETRAYED, AS THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I GUESS GM'S IS MAKING FALSE ADVERTISING CLAIMS OF "THE MOST DEPENDABLE, LONGEST-LASTING TRUCKS ON THE ROAD". *TR
HAVING RECENTLY MOVED INTO NORTH CAROLINA, MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCK FAILED THE NORTH CARLOINA STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE PARKING BRAKE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE. THE PARKING BRAKE HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR SEVERAL YEARS, EVEN AFTER BRAKE SERVICE ON THE REAR WHEELS. THE MANUFACTURER SERVICE BULLETIN HAS ONLY BEEN FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
