DT: ON SEPTEMBER 26, 2005 THE ABS SYSTEM LOCKED ON AND THE BRAKES PULSATED WHEN GOING UNDER 10 MPH. WHEN SLOWING DOWN THE CONSUMER HAD TO INCREASE THE STOPPING DISTANCE, AND ONE COULD HEAR THE ABS BRAKES KICKING IN. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WAS GETTING WORSE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR OCTOBER 12, 2005 FOR THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES BECAUSE THE CONSUMER COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE LIKE THIS. THE CONSUMER HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECT THE VEHICLE, AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE SENSORS ON THE BRAKES RUSTED FROM THE SALT ON THE HIGHWAYS. *AK (11/23/05) *SC
PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE VERY LOW SPEED, IT WAS RAINING. PRESSED ON BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AND THE ABS STARTED PUMPING THE PEDAL REMAINED HARD BUT THE ABS KEPT PUMPING AS THE VEHICLE ROLLED UP OVER THE SIDEWALK AND INTO THE SIDE OF A BUSINESS. G.M. STATES THE VEHICLE IS PART OF A RECALL BUT IS CURRENTLY WAITING ON PARTS. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATES AT LOW SPEEDS THE ABS ACTIVATED. THIS IS A COMPANY VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT THE PERSON WHO DRIVES IT REPORTED THE PROBLEM. TIRES WHERE FIRESTONE 245/75-16. STEELTEX A/T #108/104R M/S NEW VEHICLE STICKER ALSO. TO ME. THIS FRAUD #2) NEXT FAILURE: LOST ALL BRAKING GOING DOWN A SLIGHT GRADE. BRAKE PEDAL WENT FLAT TO THE FLOOR. I RELEASED PRESSURE. PUSHED AGAIN. DOWN TO THE FLOOR BUT WITH PULSING FELT THROUGH PEDAL. RELEASED AGAIN SAME ...USED BOTH LEGS ON ONE BRAKE PEDAL OTHER ON PARKING BRAKE. ENGINE SHAKING DURING THIS. APPROX. STOPPING DISTANCE 600-700-YARDS.! I WILL NEVER REACH THAT SPACE IN TIME OR MILES BEFORE THIS UNRELIABLE DEFECT LAIDEN POORLY DESIGNED PIECE OF SHODY MERCHANDISE KILLS ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. THE SERVICE DEPT WANTS ME TO AUTHORIZE TAKE DOWN OF TRANSMISSION AND DISSEMBLE THE UNIT AND SAID NEEDED TO NOTIFY GM. ALSO THEY MENTIONED 66,790. IS THIS A FORM OR A CHARGE?. EVERY TIME I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A FLAT SURFACE EVERYTHING IS FINE BUT IF IS A ROUGH SURFACE THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND IT WON'T STOP OR WHEN APPLYING BRAKES ON A ROUGH SURFACE, THE BRAKES SEEM TO SKIP AND GRIND AND NOT STOP FOR 10 - 15 SECONDS. *NM

BREAKING QUESTIONABLE AT TIMES. BRAKE ROTORS RUST FLAKE WHERE PADS CONTACT ROTOR, 55,000 MILES ON TRUCK WITH SECOND SET OF ROTORS SAME PROBLEM WITH FIRST SET. LOUD BRAKE NOISE AT SLOW SPEED FORWARD OR REVERSE. *NM
I OWN A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCK THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKES WILL ENGAGE FOR NO REASON CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES, FORTUNATLY THE ONLY THING THAT WAS HIT WAS A CURB.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. IN 2005, THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH. THIS ALSO INCREASED THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH EVENTUALLY LED TO A MINOR CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP. BODY WORK WAS PERFORMED, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM. AFTER THE CRASH, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT THE ABS WOULD RANDOMLY ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE RELATING TO THE ABS. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WAS A PRODUCT LIABILITY. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT A GM REPRESENTATIVE NEEDED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO IT BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT GM DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. APPROXIMATELY SIX OR SEVEN MONTHS LATER, THE ABS FAILURE RECURRED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT AN ENTIRELY NEW BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NEEDED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS AND SHOCKS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE HAS BEGUN TO RECUR A YEAR AND A HALF LATER. THE ABS IS CURRENTLY ENGAGING AGAIN AND ALMOST CAUSES REAR END CRASHES. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT A SECONDARY RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED TO PROPERLY REPAIR THIS DEFECT. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
VEHICLE PULLS TO RIGHT WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT SLOW SPEED. *NM
AS AN OWNER OF A SILVERADO I WAS GLAD TO HEAR ABOUT THE RECALL DUE TO FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM. HOWEVER IT WAS A LET DOWN TO LEARN WISCONSIN TRUCKS ARE NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED HALF OF THE SENSORS AND NEED TO REPLACE THE REST. I FEEL MY TRUCK IS UNSAFE BECAUSE OF THE BRAKES NOT RESPONDING AS QUICKLY AS NEEDED. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ROTORS THIS FALL BECAUSE THEY HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. THE DEALER SAYS IT'S BECAUSE I PARK IT OUTSIDE. THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST DISAPPOINTING VEHICLES I HAVE EVER OWNED. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT LOW SPEEDS THE ABS ACTIVATED. THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE REPAIR WAS DONE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THIS REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. RECALL 05V379000 FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL WAS ISSUED, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. DUE TO VIN. *AK
DT:THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PREMATURELY FAILED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD NOT HOLD WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A HILL. WHEN USING THE BRAKE IT WOULD MAKE A METAL ON METAL TYPE NOISE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES, AND SERVICED THE INNER DRUM OF THE REAR ROTORS. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 43,576 MILES WHEN THIS OCCURED. IT WAS REPAIRED ON AUGUST 30, 2005. THERE IS SERVICE BULLETIN # 020526002 FOR THE SAME THING.*AK *MR
WE HAVE A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO PICK-UP. LAST WEEK WE WERE INFORMED THAT IT NEEDS A NEW BRAKE JOB BECAUSE OF THE SALT CORROSION BEING THROWN INTO THE BRAKE PADS AND A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SENSOR. OF COURSE THIS WILL COST $600. NOW I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR PART OF THE COUNTRY, BUT NOT COLORADO. WHY DO THEY GET THEIR TRUCKS FIXED WHEN COLORADO HAS JUST AS MUCH DIRT AND SALT ON THE ROADS FROM OUR WINTERS OF SNOW? THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY SHOULD COUNT, TOO. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE AN ACCIDENT TO FIX THIS!!!! AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED, WHEN THEY KNOW THERE IS ALREADY A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE FIXING IT IN SOME PARTS OF THE COUNTRY.*JB
WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE BRAKES ON MY 2001 CHEY SILVERADO WILL SUDDENLY STOP BRAKING AT LOW SPEED. TWICE THIS WEEK WHILE PARKING, I NEARLY HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I FIND IT PATICULARLY BAD WHEN TURNING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS, AND SEEM TO BE GETTING WORSE. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED RECENTLY BY A MECHANIC AND NOTHING WRONG WAS FOUND WITH THE PADS OR ROTORS.
PARKING BRAKE IS NOT HOLDING AND WE HAVE USED IT MAYBE 2 OR 3 TIMES. ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON ALL THE TIME. WE HAVE A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE ITERNET. CAN YOU NOT DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE COMPLAINTS. *TT

EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE PICKUP THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN SOMEWHAT SUBSTANDARD. THE PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR IF YOU HOLD IT DOWN SUCH AS AT A STOP LIGHT OR WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE A TRAILER. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS I HAVE NEARLY RUN A STOP LIGHT OR HAVE ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH A INTERSECTION THAT I HAD INTENDED TO SLOW DOWN TO TURN OR YIELD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LAST WEEK, I NEARLY PUT IT INTO THE RIVER WHEN I LAUNCHED MY BOAT, IF I HADN'T BEEN THINKING OR HAD I PANICKED, IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. INSTEAD I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WAS ABLE TO USE THE ENGINE TO STOP ME, THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT GOOD ON THE DRIVE TRAIN. I HAVE BLED THE BRAKE SYSTEM, CHANGED THE FLUID, REPLACED THE PADS (REAR PADS WERE COMPLETELY GONE, FRONT WERE LIKE NEW)THE PICKUP STILL DOESN'T STOP PROPERLY. I DON'T DRIVE IT AS MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *JB
MY 2001 SILVERADO SAT UNUSED FOR ABOUT ONE MONTH. AFTER THAT EVERY TIME I WOULD COME TO A STOP THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE AT ABOUT FIVE MILES AN HOUR. THIS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HAVE MORE THEN COUPLE OF MINER CRASHES. THE LIGHT FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DID NOT COME ON AT ANY TIME TO INDICATE A PROBLEM UNTIL I PULLED THE FUSE OUT TO PREVENT THE BRAKES FROM NOT STOPPING THE TRUCK. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO A SHOP AND HAD THEM LOOK AT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. THEY FOUND RUST AROUND THE SENSORS ON THE FRONT TWO WHEELS PULLED THE SENSORS OFF AND CLEANED THE RUST OFF PUT THE SENSORS BACK ON. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES GOING OFF SINCE.*JB
2001 CHEVY SILVERADO ABS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HAD BRAKES REPLACED NOW BRAKE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT. BRAKES PULL TO THE RIGHT WHEN APPLIED AND TAKE ALONG TIME TO COME TO A STOP. AFRAID OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO FAILURE OF BRAKES STOPPING TRUCK. SOMETIMES THEY DO NOT WANT TO WORK AT ALL. 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ANTILOCK THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN ALTHOUGH THE TRUCK WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL. DT: CONTACT STATES WHILE DRIVING THE BATTERY LIGHT WILL COME ON, AND THEN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY LOSES POWER, BUT DOES NOT LOSE THE ELECTRICAL POWER. THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS, SUCH AS THE ENGINE HESITATES BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLS. THIS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE SERVICE DEALER CAN NOT FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY HAVE NOT CHECKED THE CHARGING PART OF THE VEHICLE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATES IT COULD BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CHARGING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAS TO SIT AND WAIT FOR APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL RESTART. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT SERVICE DEALERS, BUT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. *AK

DT: THE CONTACT OWNED A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION DUE TO ABS BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER HIT A BRICK WALL. THERE WAS AN OPEN NHTSA INVESTIGATION, PE05020. THE CONSUMER KNEW SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME TYPE OF BRAKE PROBLEM . THIS WILL COST HIM $900 DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS, AND HE DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY THAT MUCH FOR PARTS AND REPAIRS. THEREFORE, HE NEEDED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER SAID TO EITHER FIX IT OR TO PULL THE FUSE OUT. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD THIS PROBLEM, AND HE JUST GOT A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE PARKING BRAKE TODAY.*AK *JB
MY GAS GAUGE WILL TAKE A DIVE TO EMPTY AND THE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON. THIS IS AN ON AGAIN OFF AGAIN PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAYS IT WILL COST SIX TO SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX. I WAS WONDERING IF THERE HAD BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE. *JB

THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. HE DOES HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP THIS WEEK. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO, EXTENDED CAB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN USING THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAD TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THREE TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FIRST TIME WHEN THE CONTACT PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WAS COMPLETELY HARD AND WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, THE SECOND TIME THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED IT PULSATED. THE THIRD TIME WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES IT ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY STOP AS IF THE CONTACT WAS PANIC BRAKING. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THEY TOLD HIM TO CONTACT A LOCAL SERVICE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TO SEE IF IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE RECALL. THEN, THEY WOULD CONSIDER REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF VEHICLE, BUT THE CONSUMER DOES NOT LIVE IN THE SALT BELT STATES. THE CONTACT LIVES APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES OR LESS TO THE STATE LINE THAT SEPARATES WEST VIRGINIA, WHICH IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND VIRGINIA, THE STATE IN WHICH THE CONSUMER LIVES IN. *AK
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY Z71 SILVERADO EXT CAB 4X4 WITH THE 5.3 V8 WITH 42000 MILES. WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO UNDER 10 MPH FOR RAILROAD CROSSING THEN COASTING OVER AND WENT TO APPLY BRAKES TO STOP FOR THE STOP LIGHT, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING CAUSING ME TO REAR END A LARGE GRAVEL DUMP TRUCK. CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY BUMPER, GRILL AND WRINKLED MY HOOD. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PAST PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES AND WITHOUT OUT WARNING THEY FAILED. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND TSB 03-05-25-007A SEP 04 BRAKES - LOW SPEED ABS ACTIVATION DESCRIBING MY PROBLEM. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS AND IT APPEARS THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. WHY HASN'T GM ISSUED A RECALL SINCE THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT TIME WHEN I CAN'T STOP WHEN A CHILD IS IN FRONT OF ME! 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO ACTIVATION OF ABS SYSTEM FOR NO REASON, ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET TRUCK AND WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS AN INCIDENT WHERE HE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT STOP. AS A RESULT THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME THE CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO STOP FOR A STOP SIGN BUT COULD NOT STOP. THE SERVICE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS AT 4,000 MILES. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE BOTH FRONT BEARINGS AND ABS SENSORS. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. THIS TIME THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED RIGHT AND LEFT HUB AND THE ABS SENSOR.*AK THE ABS ACTIVATED AS THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN. THE ROTORS HAD TO BE TURNED AT 4000 MILES. *NM
DT: 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE REAR BACKING PLATES THAT HOLD THE BACK ROTORS IN PLACE WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY GAVE HIM THE NUMBER TO GMC. THE CONSUMER THEN CONTACTED GMC, AND THEY ACCEPTED THE COMPLAINT AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD SEE IF THEY COULD DO ANYTHING TO HELP. GMC CALLED THE CONSUMER BACK A COUPLE DAYS LATER AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS. THE CONSUMER RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE FRONT HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY AND WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. *AK (11/29/05) *SC
2001 CHEVY SILVERADO Z-71 - 78,000 MILES - ABS BRAKES ENGAGE DURING NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS AT SLOW SPEEDS (UNDER 10MPH). THIS OCCURS 80% OF THE TIME THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BRAKE. MECHANIC HAS QUOTED ME $900 TO REPLACE ABS CONTROL MODULE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM!!! GM NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED!!!!
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE ENGAGING AT LOW SPEEDS ON DRY PAVEMENT, IE: SLOWING DOWN, STOPPING. BRAKES FAILED AT A LOW SPEED WITH A HARD PEDAL. RAN INTO A BUILDING AIR CONDITIONING UNIT CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE. GMC REMOVED, CLEANED AND LUBRICATED THE FRONT SPEED SENSORS FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES.
ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS(5 - 10 MPH) AT LOW SPEEDS AND ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS ABS WILL RANDOMLY ACTIVATE AND CAUSE INABILITY TO STOP. BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE RELEASED AND REAPPLIED CAREFULLY TO PREVENT HITTING CARS OR OTHER OBJECTS. NO ACCIDENT AS OF YET, BUT THE PROBLEM MATCHES EXACTLY NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE05020. *NM
DT: 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TON PICK UP. THE ANTI- LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. WHILE DRIVING AND COMING A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT AND PRESSING ON THE BRAKES THERE IS A CHATTER ON THE BRAKE PEDAL OR GRINDING NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP RIGHT AWAY, IT TAKES A FEW SECONDS MORE THAN USUAL TO STOP. SOMETIMES WHEN PUSHING THE BRAKES IT IS HARDER TO PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN, THIS ONLY HAPPENS AT A SLOW STOPPING SPEED. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID WAS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD TAKE AT LEAST 3 HOURS TO FIX AND WOULD COST $600.00.*AK THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN. THE DOORS LOCKED ON THEIR OWN AND THE SEATS MOVED FORWARD ON THEIR ON. *JB
THE ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AT ANY TIME DURING NORMAL DRIVING. HOWEVER, IT CAN NEVER BE CHECKED BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SAVE IT IN THE COMPUTER MEMORY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, THIS MEANS I HAVE NO ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS VERY SERIOUS ALSO. THE FUEL GAUGE IS ERRATIC AND INACCURATE. I FEAR THAT I MAY RUN OUT OF FUEL AT SOME POINT BECAUSE OF THIS. THEN I MAY BE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CURRENTLY HAVE TO TRACK MY MILEAGE WITH THE TRIP METER TO MAKE SURE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN. THROUGH RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I REALIZE THESE ARE VERY COMMON ON THIS VEHICLE AND GM REFUSES TO RECALL IT.

THE FUEL GAUGE WILL SHOW EMPTY EVEN IF THE TANK IS FULL. IT WILL GO FROM BELOW EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THEN IF YOU ROCK THE VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH IT WILL READ THE PROPER AMOUNT. *TR
DT: CONTACT STATED THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE, ALMOST CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR FENDER WAS DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THE TREAD SEPARATION. CONSUMER WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRE. TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT THE TIRES WERE ROTATED. AT THAT TIME, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A CERTIFIED FIRESTONE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2001, THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL ONES ON THE VEHICLE.*AK ON ORIGINAL TIRE HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT DEVELOPED A BUBBLE IN ITS SIDEWALL. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON JULY 2005 AND HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED HIM T FOR FIXING THE VEHICLE. HE SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO GO ALONG WITH WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID. THE RECALL WAS FOR A CONDUCT CONDITION BETWEEN THE BRAKE SHOES AND THE BRAKE DRUMS , AND WAS ONLY ON THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CHARGING HIM FOR NEW BRAKE DRUMS. THE DEALERSHIP STILL WAS WORKING ON THE VEHICLE AND WAS GOING TO FIX IT, BUT IT WOULD COST THE CONTACT A LITTLE OVER A $1000 FOR THE REPAIRS. *AK *NM
DT: CONSUMER HAS A BRAKING ISSUE DUE TO CORROSION ON HUB BEARINGS. CONSUMER HAD DEALER FIX BRAKES IN FEBRUARY. DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS. CONSUMER HAD THE SAME THING DONE LAST WEEK. TRUCK HAD DRIVEN 2500 MILES BETWEEN BRAKE JOBS. CONSUMER HEARD THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET BRAKES. CONSUMER HAD MIDAS FIX THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO WHAT HE FOUND ON INTERNET. CONSUMER SAID THAT VEHICLE WAS FIXED. MIDAS REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS, AND THIS SEEMED TO FIX PROBLEM. MIDAS DID THE REPAIR LAST FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2005. CONSUMER TALKED TO MANUFACTURER, AND WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S RESPONSE. CONSUMER SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS ORIGINALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. IT SEEMED LIKE EVERYTHING JUST LOCKED. *AK *JB
WHILE TRYING TO COME TO A STOP UPON ENTERING A PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF A COUNTY HEALTH BLDG. THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY TRUCK DID NOT RESPOND. THE PEDAL WENT HARD AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED FORWARD, I APPLIED THE BRAKE AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO STRIKE THE BUILDING AND DESTROY A SERVICE ENTERANCE DOOR. I ESTIMATE MY SPEED TO HAVE BEEN UNDER 5 MPH SINCE THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE RESULT OF A DEFFECTIVE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSOR. AS OF TODAY I HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FAILURE FIXED.
FUEL GAUGE STOPS WORKING OR GIVES INACCURATE READINGS. TRUCK RUNS OUT OF GAS BECAUSE OF THESE READINGS. LEAVING THE TRUCK STRANDED IN THE ROAD. *NM
