DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CRASH WAS A ROLLOVER AND THE BUMPER WAS BENT IN. CONTACT THOUGHT THAT IF THE BUMPER GOT BENT IN THE AIR BAGS WERE SUPPOSE TO DEPLOY. HER HUSBAND WAS NOT WEARING SEAT BELT. THEY DO KNOW THAT SPEED WAS A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT. POLICE REPORT AND PHOTOGRAPHS ARE AVAILABLE. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING MORE AND MORE OFTEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. ONLY ACTIVATES WHEN VEHICLE IS ALMOST STOPPED. THIS DOES SEEM TO ADD TO STOPPING DISTANCE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, MY CHEVY SILVERADO ALMOST FAILED TO STOP AT SLOW SPEEDS BECAUSE THE ABS WAS ENGAGING ON DRY PAVEMENT. APPROX 12 TIMES IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH IN PARKING LOTS. *NM
FRONT AND REAR SEATBELTS LOCK SO TIGHT SOMETIMES THAT THE ONLY WAY FOR RELIEF IS TO UNBUCKLE THEM AND RE-FASTEN WHILE DRIVING! ALL FOUR RETRACTORS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ONCE THE SEAT BELT IS UN-FASTENED, THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT COMPLETELY RETRACT BACK IN. THIS LEAVES THE SEAT BELT DANGLING AFTER USE AND POTENTIALLY TOO LOOSE FOR NEXT PASSENGER.
I HAVE A 2001 SILVERADO AND THE ANTILOCKS KICK IN AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS.. CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING RANGE AND DELAYED STOPPING.....*NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND FOUND TO HAVE A FAULTY FUEL FILTER. AFTER, THE FILTER WAS CHANGED THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AGAIN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE DEALER CHANGED THE FUEL INJECTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING NO PROBLEMS AT THIS TIME. HE TALKED TO GM, AND THEY OFFERED NO FREE REPAIR OR REMEDY.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-10 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE SPEED SENSORS HAVE BEEN CLEANED TWO OR THREE TIMES. ON JUNE 4, 2008, THE BRAKE SENSORS WERE REPLACED AT THE COST OF MORE THAN $500. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK) WAS REFERENCED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,362. UPDATED 07/29/08.*LJ UPDATED 08/05/08
CONSUMER STATES: SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK. WAS TOLD THIS BY THE DEALER. THE LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING LOW FUEL, AND THE GAUGE SHOWED LOW FUEL BUT ACTUALLY THERE WAS A FULL TANK OF GAS. *AK
DT: WHILE PULLING IN TO PARK, THE ABS ACTIVATED AND CONSUMER CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF A BUILDING. THE BRAKE PEDAL EVENTUALLY WENT TO THE FLOOR BUT WAS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AS IF IT WERE BEING ACTIVATED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY PAVEMENT WITH NO DEBRIS OR MOISTURE. AT SLOW SPEEDS THE BRAKE PRESSURE ABS WOULD COME ON LATELY. *NM CONSUMER STATES THAT GM WILL PAY FOR ALL THE DAMAGES AND BELIEVES INSTEAD OF THE GM DEALER CLEANING THE SENSORS THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THEM WITH NEW ONES AND NOT SOME THAT WILL RUST.
DT: PROBLEMS BEGAN 10/04 WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, BRAKES WOULD FAIL. DEALER REPORTED NO PROBLEMS. PULSATING CAN BE HEARD COMING FROM BRAKES. CONTACT HAS PULLED THE ABS FUSE TO REMEDY PROBLEM. STEERING SHAFT: WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, SLACK IS FELT IN THE WHEEL, CONTACT HAS THE STEERING SHAFT TWICE. POPPING AND GRINDING IS HEARD WHEN TURNING. *NM
DT: CONSUMER'S ABS MOTOR WILL NOT SHUT OFF, CAUSING THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN. THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE ABS ILLUMINATED. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THE ENTIRE ABS MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID PULL THE FUSE TO THE ABS SYSTEM. *AK *TT CONSUMER FEELS THAT SINCE THE ABS IS A REQUIRED OPTION THEN IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY INSTEAD OF COSTING $1,000 TO REPLACE. CONSUMER FEELS THAT SINCE IT'S THE BRAKING SYSTEM THAT IT WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND STATES THAT ARIZONA IS ONLY WORRIED ABOUT EMISSIONS.*SB
DT: WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD YOU APPROACHED A TOLL BOOTH, TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND APPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE. THE PEDAL ALMOST GOES TO THE FLOOR, FELT THE ABS TRIED TO EQUALIZE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE STOPPED BY EMERGENCY BRAKE ALONE. HAS BEEN HAVING AN INFREQUENT "WEIRD FEELING" IN BRAKES LATELY. HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER DUE TO EXPENSE, HAD TO MAKE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. ALL 4 ROTORS WERE CORROSIVE AND PREMATURELY AGED DESPITE THE MILEAGE. SURFACE WERE DELAMINATED AND FALLING APART. THE PADS WERE HOWEVER WERE OKAY. *NM
THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES APPROXIMATELY 75% OF THE TIME AS I COME TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENS ON DRY PAVEMENT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CORRECTED.
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVROLET Z71 TRUCK, AND THE PARKING BRAKES WILL NOT PASS THE TEXAS SAFETY INSPECTION. THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT FAIL DURING THE LIFETIME OF A VEHICLE, PARTICULARLY SINCE IT HAS ONLY 75000 MILES.
ABS BRAKE MODULE FAILURE ON 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 4X4. NEED TO REPLACE ABS MODULE AT $900. COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT IN INCLEMENT WEATHER...SUMMER RIGHT NOW.
ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILURE AT LOW SPEEDS. CHANGED WHEEL BARRIN WITH SENCOR IN IT, FAILED LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. BAD BRAKE CALLIBER I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND THE BOLT HOLDING THE CALLIBER TO THE FRAME BROKE RESULTING IN THE WHEEL LOCKING UP.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT SHE OWNS A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO AND THE ABS BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. *JB THE CONSUMER AND HAD TO SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLES SYSTEM DID NOT GIVE A WARNING FOR THE MALFUNCTION THAT WAS ABOUT TO OCCUR. THE CONSUMER HAS THE ORIGINAL PARTS THAT WERE TAKEN OFF OF THE VEHICLE FOR GMC TO DO A DIAGNOSIS OF THE SITUATION. CONSUMER IS VERY UPSET ABOUT THE ABS BRAKES AND THE COMPLAINTS THEY SAW ON NHTSA'S WEBSITE AND WANTS GMC TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR VEHICLES. *SB
LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING EVEN WHEN TANK IS FULL. *NM
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE VEHICLE'S ABS ACTIVATED AT ABOUT 5 MPH, NO MATTER THE WEATHER CONDITION. WHEN THIS OCCURRED IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE PULSATION CAUSED BY THE ABS. NOW THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS EVERYTHING THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS INCIDENT OCCURS BECAUSE DIRT OR RUST OBSCURES THE WHEEL SENSORS LOCATED BEHIND EACH BRAKE ROTOR. *NM
ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM CORRODED, AND VEHICLE MIGHT NOT PASS INSPECTION. TOOK VEHICLE TO INSPECTION STATION, WHO SAID THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS. SOMETIMES VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP. BRAKES SEEMED TO BE DEFECTIVE. *AK CONSUMER ADDED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATES WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THUS CAUSING HEAT BUILD-UP AND INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE. ALSO INCREASES ANXIETY AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE WILL STOP IN TIME. *TT *NM
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO AND MY ABS BRAKES ARE ACTIVATEING AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN COMEING TO A COMPLEAT STOP. I HAVE 84000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AND I'VE ALMOST REAR ENDED THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME ON NUMEROUS OCATIONS. I JUST READ AN ARTICAL IN THE DETROIT NEWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND I WANTED TO TELL YOU MY TRUCK IS ALSO HAVEING THE ABS PROBLEM. I AM HOPEING FOR A RECALL ON THE ABS SENSORS!
DT*: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05379000 CONCERNING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL, BUT IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. IN ADDITION THE FUEL GAUGE INTERMITTENTLY READ THE FUEL TANK AS EMPTY WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL AND THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATES A LOW FUEL MESSAGE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. *AK UPDATED 1/25/2006 - *NM
2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM.*MR THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS BEGAN TO ENGAGE ON DRY PAVEMENT WHILE SLOWING BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 5 MPH AND STOPPING. AT FIRST IT WAS OCCASIONAL, BUT THEN THE BRAKES BEGAN TO ENGAGE CONSISTENTLY ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHERE CORROSION WAS DISCOVERED ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED REMOVING, LUBRICATING AND REPLACING BOTH FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE MECHANIC STATED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PICKUP'S DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE PART AND THE CONDITIONS WHICH THE VEHICLE ARE DRIVEN; SNOW AND HIGHWAY SALT. *JB
DT: THE ABS WOULD ACTIVATE BETWEEN 2-4 MPH. THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS THE RESULT OF RUST BUILD-UP. *NM
THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTING SYSTEM AT NIGHT. REPORTED AT 2:05 AM 4-20-02 TO ONSTAR AND TO THE DEALER IN APRIL. THEY TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLACE THE COMPONENT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE STEERING COLUMN MADE A RATTLING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE SHIMMIED. AS THE SPEED INCREASED, THE FAILURE WORSENED. THERE WAS NO STEERING LOSS OR WARNING LIGHTS. THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,437 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V379000 INVOLVING THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE IN WHICH HIS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL BUT WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO THE VIN. NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE AT THIS TIME. *AK (11/22/05) *SC
THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM APPARENTLY IS ENGAGING AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN THE SYSTEM FALSELY ENGAGES IT BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS NEAR MISSES IN PARKING LOTS AND THE FINAL STRAW WAS NARROWLY MISSING A PEDESTRIAN IN A CROSS WALK. I HAVE PULLED THE FUSE FOR THE ABS SYSTEM (NOW MY CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK, BUT BETTER THAN THE ALTERNATIVE). *NM
CONSUMER STATES: CONSUMER LET GO OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSHED IT AGAIN AND ABS SYSTEM DIDN'T WORK AT ALL TIMES. THIS MAY HAPPEN ONE TIME IN A MONTH.*AK
DT: THE VEHICLE IS A 2001 CHEVROLET 2500 HD. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ABS KICKS IN AT LOW SPEEDS. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE END OF APRIL 2005. THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS AS OF YET. THE CONTACT FOUND A RECALL FOR THE 1999'S WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL. WHEN HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY SAID THAT IT WAS ONLY VEHICLES MADE AT A CERTAIN PLANT, THAT WAS WHY THIS WAS NOT INCLUDED. *AK
ABS SYSTEM ON 2001 SILVERADO 4X4 BEGAN COMING ON AT LOW SPEEDS WITH ONLY GENTLE BRAKING. CAUSED STOPPING DISTANCES TO BE MUCH GREATER, CAUSING OVERSHOOT OF STOP SIGNS. NO ACCIDENT WAS INVOLVED. HAD REPAIRED AT GM DEALER, SAID ABS SENSORS WERE CORRODED AND HAD TO REPLACE ($600+ DOLLARS). VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40K MILES ON IT.

THE CONSUMER STATED HE PLACED THE CAMPER ONTO THE TRUCK AND THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES FAILED. JUST WENT A COUPLE YARDS WITH TRUCK AND ALL AT ONCE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES BECAUSE OF BROKEN SHAFT.CAMPER WAS A PULL BEHIND 30 FT. DEALER REPORTS THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED WITH THIS TRUCK.
I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PROBLEMS THAT ALL OF THE GM TRUCKS/SUVS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. WHEN I WOULD ATTEMPT TO STOP THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE WOULD ACTIVATE ON DRY PAVEMENT AND IN GOOD WEATHER, CAUSING ME TO ROLL FORWARD PAST THE POINT OF WHERE I INTENDED TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO HAVE IT SERVICES BY THE DEALER, AT TIMES MAKING ME ROLL INTO TRAFFIC AT STOP SIGNS AND ALMOST REAR END VEHICLES STOPPING IN FRONT OF ME. THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, THE FIRST TIME THEY ATTEMPTED CLEANING A SENSOR CONTACT, BEFORE FINALLY REPLACING THE ENTIRE SENSOR UNIT. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AS IT IS A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 WITH 80,000 MILES.
2001 SILVERADO PICKUP I HAVE HAD TWO NEAR MISS INCIDENTS. BOTH INVOLVE MY ANTI-LOCK BREAKS ACTIVATING AT LOW SPEED AS I APPROACH STOP SIGNS OR RED LIGHTS. ALL THE SUDDEN MY BREAKS START PULSING AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. ONE TIME I HAD TO VEER ONTO THE CURB TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE LAST TIME MY TRUCK ACTUALLY ROLLED IN FRONT OF AN ONCOMING SEMI TRUCK. LUCKLY THE TRUCK WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AND MISS ME. I APPROACHED THE DEALERSHIP TODAY IN PERSON (MAY 4, 2004) AND THEY FLAT OUT DENIED THAT THEY HAD A PROBLEM. THE REFUESED TO ACKNOWLEDGE A SAFETY CONCERN AND TOLD ME "IF YOU WANT US TO LOOK AT IT WE CAN, BUT WE WILL HAVE TO CHARGE YOU".
VEHICLE HAS 48,400 MILES, ON IT, AND HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS AND BRAKES CHANGED. CERTIFIED MECHANICS DID THE WORK. CONSUMER WAS UPSET ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE BRAKES DID NOT LAST LONG. WHEN THE ROTORS WERE TAKEN OFF THEY WERE JUST PIECES OF METAL MISSING, AND THEY ALL WERE RUSTY, ESPECIALLY ON THE INSIDE WHERE THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES OPERATED. *AK CONSUMER SAID THAT THE FRONT ROTOR WAS TOO THIN TO BE TURNED, THE BRAKE PAD WAS NOT WORN OUT AND IT WAS POOR METAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. CONSUMER TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER SILVERADO VEHICLE OWNERS AND THEY EITHER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OR DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE SITUATION UNTIL AFTER THEY GOT THERE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT, AND WAS INFORMED OF THE SAME PROBLEM. CONSUMER SAID THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS SUCH AS THIS ONE BECAUSE OF OTHER SILVERADO OWNERS.*SB

TOTAL FAILURE OF THE ABS BRAKING UNIT. *AK
AFTER PUTTING TRUCK IN GEAR (AUTO) THE GAS PEDAL WIL OCCASIONALLY NOT DEPRESS WITHOUT FORCE. THIS LEADS TO A SUDDEN BURST OF SPEED WHILE TRUCK IS IN GEAR. DEALER RECCOMMENDS A $100 THROTTLE BODY CLEANING. IF A CRITICAL AREA IS GETTING DIRTY, ISN'T THAT A DESIGN FLAW THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY MANUFACTURER? REPAIR "HOW TO" WEBSITES TALK ABOUT CLEANING AND PLUGGING A HOLE THAT LETS IN DIRT
CONTACT STATES: 2001, CHEVROLET SILVERADO. HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. WHEN DRIVING 40-50 MPH EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE, BUT ONCE THE CAR COMES ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE TRAVELING 5-10 MPH THE BRAKE FAIL. HAPPENS IN ANY ROAD CONDITION. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY ,AND FIXED THE BRAKES. CURRENTLY, , IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER YET. NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO OR AFTER THE FAILURE. *AK
THE ABS BRAKES COME ON WHEN DRIVING SLOW. I SMASHED OTHER CARS, RAN STOP SIGNS, AND BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS BRAKE FAILURE. *AK
#1 2001 SILVERADO WHEN STOPPING GRADUALLY ONCE I SLOW TO LESS THAN 10 MPH THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM KICKS IN CAUSING IT TO TAKE A MUCH GREATER DISTANCE TO STOP THAN WHAT IT NORMALLY TAKES. WHEN I ASKED MY DEALER ABOUT THIS THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER WHILE DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I'VE FOUND A HUGE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. #2 WITH ABOUT 40000 MILES ON MY TRUCK THE REAR BRAKES STARTED MAKING SOME NOISE, SO I PULLED THE WHEELS OFF TO HAVE A LOOK AND FOUND THAT BOTH REAR ROTORS WERE CHEWED UP BEYOND BEING SERVICEABLE. WHEN I TOOK THE BRAKES APART I FOUND THAT THE BRAKE PADS STILL HAD PLENTY OF MATERIAL ON THEM BUT THEY JUST DESTROYED THE ROTORS AS IF THE ROTORS WERE MADE OUT OF A STEEL THAT WAS TOO SOFT. MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH APPROX 46,000 MILES HAS THE SAME INTERMITTENT SLOW SPEED ABS ACTIVATION PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ OTHER ACCOUNTS OF HERE. ABS WILL ACTIVATE AT BELOW 5 MPH SUCH AS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE GARAGE ETC THANKFULLY I HAVE NEVER HIT ANYTHING AS YET BUT HAVE HAD CLOSE CALLS HAVE HAD TO DEALER AND TOLD THAT I NEEDED TWO NEW SENSORS MINIMUM MAYBE WHOLE HUB ASSEMBLY BUT EVEN IF I REPAIR THAT IF THE SENSORS GO BAD OR GET RUST UNDER THEM THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH NO WARNING LIGHT. THERE IS NO ABS WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATED FOR THIS FAILURE AND THIS IS THE SAFTEY PROBLERM !!! THERE HAS BEEN A CANADIAN RECALL FOR THIS WHY NOT IN US ??? HAVE DEACTIVATED ABS FOR TIME BEING RATHER THAN WORRY IF THE TRUCK WILL STOP WHEN I WANT IT TOO.

SAME AS CASE # 10127210. GAS GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY DURING STOPPED IDLE AT LIGHTS OR IDLING IN PARK. CAUSES LOW FUEL LIGHT TO COME ON. ONCE VEHICLE IS SHAKEN DURING FORWARD MOTION GAUGE WILL BOUNCE BACK TO CORRECT POSITION. (WEB SITE REFERING IS MYCARSTATS.COM) HAVE FOUND ANOTHER MASS RESIDENT WITH SAME PROBLEM ALSO. *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THERE A RECALL O5V279000 ON THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS CAR REGARDING THE ABS SYSTEM. HE OWNS A 2001 1500 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE ABS KICKED IN AT LOW SPEEDS OF 4-11 MPH. HE NOTICED THIS HAPPENING IN APRIL 2005. THE CONTACT'S STATE OF KENTUCKY WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HE HAD TO PAY $434.94 FOR THE PART AND THE LABOR TO FIX THE BRAKES.
