THE CONSUMER REQUESTED ASSISTANCE FOR 15 FAILURES AND OR PROBLEMS WITH GM 2001 CHEVY TRUCK. *BF THE STEERING ROD ASSEMBLY WOULD POP WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED, THE SHIFTER BOOT RIPPED IMMEDIATELY, THE TAILGATE STRAPS BROKE AND BENT THE TAILGATE, THE PCV VALVE WAS USING 4 QUARTS OF OIL AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM, THE BATTERY EXPLODED AT 40K MILES, THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE ON THE INSIDE HAD WORN DOWN THE METAL, THE LIGHTS ON THE STEREO BURNED OUT, THE LIGHTS HAD BURNED OUT, THE VALVE COVER WERE LEAKING OIL BEFORE 100K MILES, THE FUR WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH HAD BROKEN AT 50K MILES, THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT AT 1K MILES AND THE DEALERS WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM, THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED A PRE-IGNITION KNOCK AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM, THE DRIVER'S SEAT CONTROLS RIPPED AT 60K MILES, THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETE GONE OUT AT 118K MILES AND THE SEAT BELTS LATCH SYSTEM HAD BECOME DEFECTIVE. *SC
COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL. I HAVE A 2001 CHEVROLET 2500 HD WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT, AND JUST HAD TO HAVE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED FOR THE SAME REASON, A BROKEN SHAFT. MY DAUGHTER BACKED IT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND WITH NO WARNING, LOST STEERING AND BRAKES, AND ALMOST HIT THE TELEPHONE POLE ACROSS THE STREET. I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THAT TRUCK SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED, BROKEN ROCKER ARM IN THE ENGINE, WINDSHIELD WIPERS BREAKING, HORN BLOWING FUSES, U-JOINT HAD TO BE REPLACED.*AK
2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILURE. RECALL DOESN'T INCLUDE TRUCKS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS, BUT THEY HAVE THE SAME BRAKE SYSTEMS. MY EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING ALTHOUGH I HAVE ONLY USED THEM A COUPLE OF TIMES IN FOUR YEARS. ALSO, AFTER QUESTIONING OTHER PEOPLE WITH SAME TRUCKS THEY FIND OUT THAT THEIR BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING EITHER.*AK

PARKING BREAK FAILURE. PARKING BREAK NEVER REALLY FELT RIGHT NEVER WOULD HOLD THE TRUCK I WAS TOLD BY INSPECTOR I NEED TO GET FIXED AND THEY SAID ABOUT $600
DT: ABS SYSTEM. THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR TURNING. AS A RESULT THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. *NM
RECALLED ANTI LOCK BRAKE SENSOR IN CANADA ; HAD PROBLEM, AND CONSUMER PAID $427.07 FOR REPLACING BOTH FRONT SENSORS. *AK
AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A 45 MPH FRONT END COLLISION ON MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. *NM
WHILE LOADING ITEMS ONTO THE VEHICLE THE TAILGATE STRAP CABLES BROKE WITHOUT WARNING. AS A OWNER FELL ON THE GROUND AND SUFFERED FROM BACK AND KNEE INJURIES. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN STOPPING THE ABS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO NOT STOPPING. A FEW TIMES ALMOST HIT BUILDING, POLE AND A CAR (PARKING LOT OBSTACLES). VEHICLE WAS TAKE TO TAYLOR CHEVROLET ON 12/27/04 TO BE DIAGNOSED. THIS RESULTED IN REPLACING THE LEFT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY BECAUSE SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND COULD NOT BE CLEANED OR REPLACED. COST OF REPAIR $463.00 WITH ONLY 35,506 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. CONTACTED THE DEALER. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. DEALER STATED THE SENSOR HUB ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS AND CLEANED THE HUBS. *NM
2001 SILVERADO.....MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK IS THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT. THE PROBLEM IS THE ELECTRONIC TRANSFER CASE SHIFT MOTOR. THE PART RUNS A LITTLE OVER $100. I CAN'T AFFORD THE PART RIGHT NOW, BUT IT DOESN'T AFFECT MY DAILY DRIVING, JUST WHEN I NEED 4X4 WHICH ISN'T OFTEN LIVING IN OKLAHOMA. STILL RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE A BRAND NEW TRUCK. *TR
DT: FOR NO REASON AND AT LOW SPEEDS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATE. HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. DEALER SAYS THE SENSORS ARE DIRTY, HAD THE SENSORS CLEANED ,BUT PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. HAD ONE SENSOR REPLACED AT ADVICE OF GM DEALER, AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE (LEFT FRONT). HAS TALKED TO MANUFACTURER, AND IS NOT SATISFIED WITH WHAT THEY ARE DOING. PULLED FUSE TO DEACTIVATE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL 5V379000 CONCERNING THE ABS SENSORS ON 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO ON 10-17-05. THE CONTACT HAD THE REAR BRAKES, PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED IN DECEMBER 2004 AT A COST OF $300.00. THE TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES ON IT. THE BRAKE SHOP SERVICE MAN TOLD THE CONTACT THE REAR BRAKES HAD NOT REACHED THE SENSORS AT THE TIME HE HAD THEM REPLACED IN 12-2004. THE CONTACT TALKED TO A DEALER, WHO TOLD HIM THEY WOULD HONOR THE PART OF THE RECALL ABOUT THE CLEANING OF THE SENSORS. THE CONTACT WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE $300.00 HE PAID BACK IN 12-04. *AK
CONSUMER'S, VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS FORCE INTO A SPIN AND THEN, IT HIT A CONCRETE ROAD DIVIDER. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND HAD TO BE TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT DID NOT KEEP HER FROM HITTING HER CHEST ON THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER THE FRONT AND THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE HIT THE CONCRETE DIVIDER THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TC
1. FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER 80% OF THE TIME. AFTER FILLING UP FUEL TANK THE " LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE FUEL NEEDLE POINTS BACK TO EMPTY. THE FUEL NEEDLE WILL START WORKING BETTER AFTER I HAVE BURNED 1/2 A TANK OF FUEL. I HAVE 4 FRIENDS THAT ALL HAVE THE SAME TRUCK AND ALL OF THEIR TRUCKS DO THE SAME THING 2. HEATED MIRROR ON DRIVERS SIDE QUIT WORKING. *JB

DT: WHILE DRIVING EXACTLY 10 MPH THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES LOCKED UP. THE CONSUME HAS STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE HE IS AFRAID AN ACCIDENT WILL RESULT. THE DEALER HAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BUT INDICATED T NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. *NM
UNWANTED APPLICATION OF ABS WHEN STOPPING ON DRY PAVEMENT WHICH CAUSES GREATLY INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES.
A CLUNKING NOISE IS HEARD IN THE STEERING COLUMN. *TC THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT AND THAT IT WASN'T A SAFETY CONCERN. THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE BETWEEN 21,300 AND 23,200 MILES THE NOISE HAD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER. *NM
THE TAILGATE CABLES FAILED CONSTANTLY. THE TAILGATE STRAPS BROKE AND BENT THE HINGES. BOTH HINGES WERE REPLACED AND A NEW TAILGATE WAS INSTALLED. *BF THE LEFT REAR TAIL GATE BROKE. THE TAIL GATE FELL ON THE BUMPER AND BENT BOTH HINGES ON THE RIGHT SIDE SCRATCHING THE TAIL GATE. THE PLASTIC SEAL LEAKED. THE CABLE WAS RUSTED. THE RIGHT STRAP HAD TOO MUCH SLACK AND WAS NOT HOLDING ANY WEIGHT ON THE TAIL GATE. *SC *JB
I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS BRAKES ENGAGING AT SLOW SPEED AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP ON MY 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO. IN NOVEMBER 2004 THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE (ABS WAS ENGAGED ON DRY PAVEMENT) WHEN PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY, RESULTING IN A NEAR COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. REPAIRS WERE DONE AT A LOCAL GM DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE SENSORS IN THE WHEELS BECAUSE OF CORROSION, I BELIEVE AS A RESULT OF DEFECTIVE ENGINEERING. MY TRUCK HAD LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT, AND WAS DRIVEN IN A NORMAL FASHION WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED.
I HAVE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2001 SILVERADO AND MY GAS HAND WILL GO TO EMPTY AND MY LOW FUEL LIGHT WILL COME ON BUT I WILL HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS...IF YOU SHAKE THE TRUCK OR STOMP OM THE GAS PEDAL IT WILL GO BACK TO FULL AND LIGHT WILL GO OFF...A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A 2002 SILVERADO AND MY AUNT HAS A BLAZER AND THEY ALL DO THE SAME THING. *JB
WHILE DRIVING CHECK ENGINE AND THE BATTERY LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THEN, VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE, BUT A MILE DOWN THE HIGHWAY, VEHICLE STALLED FOR THE SECOND TIME. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
THE CONSUMER HAD TROUBLE WITH THE REAR CALIPER LOCKING UP. THERE IS ALSO PROBLEM WITH A STIFF PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS. *TS THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE HUB, THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS WERE WORN AND THERE WAS SENSOR CORROSION. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED AT THE FACTORY'S EXPENSE. RECALL#05068 *SC
ABS BRAKES PULSATED AT LOW SPEEDS INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCE. SCARY NEAR MISSES AND DISABLED ABS DUE TO HIGH REPLACEMENT COST.
THE REAR HATCHBACK WINDOW WILL NOT CLOSE TIGHTLY. THIS WOULD ALLOW WATER TO LEAK INTO THE REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CHEVROLET SIVERADO. AFTER ABOUT 1500 MILES VEHICLE DEVELOPED A POPPING NOISE IN THE TRANSFER CASE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED THAT VEHICLE HAD A HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM RANGING FROM THE 1998 TO 2004 MODELS. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST CONSUMER WITH THIS DEFECT. *AK
WHILE BRAKING AT 30 MPH VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER, AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH CONSUMER NOTICED THE ABS MOTOR WAS CONTINUOUSLY RUNNING, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS GETTING HARD WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THIS CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. MECHANIC DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP. ALSO INFORMED MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE, AND BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUBS NEEDED TO REPLACED. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE ALMOST HAD 2 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE ABS BRAKES FAILED AND WILL NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED BY K R AUTO REPAIR. NEW ABS CONTROL UNIT INSTALLED.
WHEN BRAKING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE WORN FRONT/REAR BRAKES. HWEVER, THE SAME PROBLEMS RECURRED. *AK
UNIVERSAL JOINT BROKE. IT WAS TAKEN FOR REPAIR SINCE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THREE WEEKS LATER THE TRANSFER CASE BROKE, AND TRANSMISSION WENT OUT PREVENTING THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING. GMC SENT AN APPRAISER TO CHECK VEHICLE.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT IT TOOK MORE THAN THE NORMAL PRESSURE IN ORDER TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS NOTICED THE FAILURE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 110450.
I OWN A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. IT CURRENTLY HAS 34,000 MILES ON IT. THE ABS WAS ACTIVATING NEARLY EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THIS WOULD OCCUR AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 5-10 MPH ON DRY PAVEMENT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING AND BRAKING CONDITIONS. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH REAR ENDING ANOTHER MOTORIST DUE TO THE INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN THE ABS ACTIVATES. I JUST HAD BOTH FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES REPLACED AT A COST OF $800. IN MY OPINION, A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 34,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS TYPE OF NECESSARY REPAIR. GM HAS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ABS ON EARLY TO MID 1990'S MODEL TRUCKS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM AND THE SUPPLIER OF THEIR ABS PARTS. I KNOW OF 3 OTHER LIGHT TRUCKS IN MY AREA THAT HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *JB
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW CRAPPED OUT. WINDOW DOESN'T GO DOWN, CABLE BROKEN AT MOTOR DRIVE. THE TRUCK IS A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO, IT'S ONLY 3, WELL TECHNICALLY 4 YEARS OLD. THE PART TO REPLACE IT FROM THE DEALERSHIP IS WELL OVER RATED IN PRICE. YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE THE WHOLE COMPONENT. JUST THE CABLE CAN NOT BE PURCHASED. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE WITH THESE WINDOW REGULATORS. *JB
RECEIVED RECALL REPLACE GALVANIZED SUPPORT CABLES WITH STAINLESS STEEL CABLES, DEALER REFUSE TO REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. *BF *TC
THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS WERE PITTED AND THROWING THE BRAKES SHOES OFF. THE ROTORS AND SHOES WERE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THIS IS BECOMING A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. *JB
I BELIEVE GM SHOULD RELEASE A TSB & REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY TO ADDRESS THE POOR QUALITY FUEL SENDING UNITS IN ALL 1999-2001 PICKUPS. MY 1999 SILVERADO DEVELOPED A FAULTY GAUGE READING APPROX 50,000. MY 2001 HAPPENED ABOUT THE SAME MILEAGE & AGE. THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER TRIED TO SAY IT WAS BAD GAS. I KNOW BETTER. I HAVE 3 FRIENDS WITH SILVERADO'S & ALL DEVELOPED ERRATIC GAUGE READINGS. *JB
ABS PULSATES ON LEFT FRONT WHEEL WHEN APPLIED (A NOISE EMINATES FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL). DEALER REPLACED RIGHT FRONT HUB AND LEFT LOW SPEED BRAKE SENSOR. BRAKES STILL PULSATED ON LEFT FRONT SIDE. RETURNED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD NOW THE LEFT HUB NEEDS REPLACING. (DID NOT HAVE REPLACED. ) PULSATION IN BRAKE SYSTEM HAD NOT STOPPED AFTER THE TWO EARLIER REPAIRS. HAVE SPENT OVER $1000.00 FOR THESE REPAIRS AND DO NOT FEEL THE GM EXPERTS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. WANT THE PROBLEM RESOLVED, BUT DON'T WANT TO SPEND ANOTHER $1000.00 ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IS THIS PROBLEM A SIGN OF A FUTURE SAFETY ISSUE? I HAUL A LARGE FITH WHEEL CAMPER AND FEAR BRAKE FAILURE AFTER PERUSING THE COMPLAINTS ON THE GM ABS SYSTEM.
TOTAL FAILURE OF THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKES
BRAKE SYSTEM: ABS ACTIVATES AT VERY LOW SPEEDS (LESS THAN 10MPH) REGARDLESS OF ROAD CONDITIONS. HAS CAUSED ME TO COME VERY CLOSE TO OTHER VEHICLES IN PARKING LOT.
UPON PLACING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION KEY WOULD NOT TURN. CONSUMER TRIED THE SPARE KEY AND IT WOULD NOT WORK. CONSUMER HAD TO DISABLE THE AIR BAGS IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE.*AK
FAULTY ROTORS ON 2001 CHEVRO SILVERADO. I HAVE 50,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK NO TOWING OR PLOWING. JUST EVERY DAY USE. IT APPEARS THAT THE ROTORS ARE SEVERLY PITTED. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AT 38,000 MILES ORIGINALLY. I'VE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WEAR OUT PADS THIS EARLY. I'VE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL NOTICE? I'VE HAD VEHICLES WITH 100,000 MILES ON IT WITH THE ROTORS LOOKING LIKE NEW. THE SEEM'S TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE MATERIAL USED IN THESE ROTORS. COULD YOU LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL. *AK
BFGOODRICH P245/75R16 TIRE - RADIAL LONG TRAIL T/A TREAD AND OUTSIDE SIDE WALL CAME APART ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH. WAS ABLE TO CONTROL TRUCK AND PULLOVER SAFELY. TIRES / LESS THAN 5 MONTHS OLD. *JB
LOW FUEL GAUGE COMES ON ALL THE TIME, AT FIRST IT WOULD SHOW FULL THEN EMPTY, NOW ITS STARTING TO STOP AT 3/4 OF A TANK WHEN IT IS FULL OF GAS, I CALLED THE DEALER HERE IN CALI AND THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT, IT SHOULD BE A RECALL, SOUNDS LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *AK
2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO C2500HD RECALL. UNWANTED ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATION. CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V379000. MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO. AT ABOUT 70,000 MILES (2.5 YRS AGO) BOTH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE ABS DASH LIGHTS BECAME TO COME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. I HAVE IN THE PAST FEW YEARS MADE SEVERAL BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENTS AND REPLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL RETAIL AUTOMOTIVE CENTERS AND RECEIVED NO POSITIVE RESOLUTION. STILL THE LIGHTS CONTINUE TO COME ON. IT WASN'T UNTIL TODAY THAT I LEARNED ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE. TO THINK THAT I HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH OUT ABS FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS NOW. UPON TRYING TO OBTAIN SOME INFORMATION ON THE PRODUCT AND THE PROBLEM, I WAS SHOCKED AND ANGRY TO FIND SO MANY FORUMS AND SITES WHERE THIS SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING TO SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH NO EASY SOLUTION. FROM A DEALER THE COST OF REPAIR IS AROUND $1500. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF MY OWN WORK ON MY TRUCK, AND AM FRUSTRATED THAT A SMALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENT WILL IN THE END COST ME THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF MONEY AND FRUSTRATION. SUCH AN INTREGAL COMPONENT, WITH A VERY IMPORTANT PURPOSE (BRAKES), SHOULD HAVE A LONGER OPERATING LIFE OR BE MADE MORE AVAILABLE AND AFFORDABLE FOR REPLACEMENT. AT LEAST IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY A WARRANTY. *TR
ABS BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING ON MY TRUCK. HUGE COST TO FIX THEM. CURRENTLY I HAVE PULLED THE FUSE ON THE ABS BRAKES. WITH ONLY 60,000 MILES I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SPEND OVER $1,000 TO HAVE BRAKES FIXED. ABS BRAKES KICK IN ON TOTALLY DRY ROADS AT SLOW CONDITIONS AND CAUSE YOU TO POSSIBLY HIT SOMEONE.
WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING. VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE MECHANIC REPAIRED/REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP. *AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATING WHILE TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS. *BF WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET GAS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. AS A RESULT THE CONSUMER STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED AT THE PUMP REFUELING. *TC
