WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. CONSUMER STATES WAS ABLE TO RESTART. TOOK TO CHEVROLET AND THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEM WITH ENGINES STALLING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. MR
MY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM MY ENGINE OF MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE PISTONS ARE HITTING THE CYLINDER WALL OF MY ENGINE. I DO HAVE 140,000 MILES ON IT BUT THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 3-4 YEARS AGO. THE REASON I DIDN'T COMPLAIN BECAUSE DEALERS HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL. BUT FROM ONLINE FORUMS I HEAR THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. MY ENGINE HAS LOST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF POWER AND I THINK THAT IS THE REASON WHY. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH VEHICLE WILL SPUTTER,/BARELY IDLING, AND THEN STALL IN MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. VEHICLE CHECKED BY DEALER 3 TIMES, WHO ADVISED CONSUMER THAT HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING STEERING WILL TURN TO LEFT, AND THE ABS BRAKING LIGHT APPEARS ON DASHBOARD. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
THERE WERE TWO TIRES THAT FAILED. THE FIRST FIRESTONE TIRE WAS A REPLACEMENT. IT WAS INSTALLED AT 3000 MILES. DA432T V611 B1C 2800. THE SECOND TIRE THAT FAILED WAS A FIRESTONE TIRE R4, LT245/75R16 E, DOT DA432TVN11B1CC07L3200. THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED PRIOR TO FULL FAILURE. IT APPEARED TO BE A BROKEN BELT OR PARTIAL TREAD SEPARATION. *JG
WHILE 2 PERSONS WERE SITTING ON OPEN TAILGATE, TAILGATE ASSEMBLY BROKE ON BOTH SIDES, AND BOTH PERSONS SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES.*AK *YH
WHILE DRIVING/ACCELERATING, AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING GAS PEDAL CAN GET STUCK AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
THE VEHICLE OFTEN TIMES VIBRATES IN THE SPEED RANGE FROM 10 MPH TO 70 MPH. WITHIN THE TIMES THE VEHICLE IS VIBRATING IN THE SPEED RANGE OF 50-70, OCCASIONALLY THE VEHICLE WILL JUMP WITHIN THE LANE, ON THE ORDER OF QUARTER OR HALVES OF A FOOT. TOWING GENERALLY MINIMIZES THE VIBRATION; HOWEVER NOW, STEERING GETS MORE EMPHASIZED AND SLOPPY, WITH A LESS IN CONTROL FEELING. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE DONE THEIR BEST TO MINIMIZE THE VIBRATION BY MAKING MINOR/SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE VEHICLE, YET THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I HAVE SUSPECTED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL, FRONT SPRINGS, TIRES, AND SUSPENSION, BUT I AM NOT SURE WHAT COMPONENT OR COMBINATION OF COMPONENTS ARE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
IN A FRONTAL COLLISON WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. VEHICLE HAD MAJOR DAMAGE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TRUCK AT 40 MPH VEHICLE INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH ANOTHER SPEEDING VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP ,AND THEY INFORMED OWNER THAT "THERE WAS NO REASON FOR AIR BAGS NOT TO DEPLOY". PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING, RESULTING IN A COLLISION, CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALERSHIP ADVISED CONSUMER TO BRING VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AS SOON AS BODY WORK IS COMPLETE. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. *AK *TT
CONSUMER STATES THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. THE OIL PRESSURE WOULD NOT REMAIN CONSTANT, INSTEAD IT BOUNCED UP AND DOWN. *YD
IN JULY 2001, WE PURCHASED A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO (OKLAHOMA PACKAGE) FROM LAWRENCE MARSHALL CHEVROLET. IN MAY 2002, AT APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES, THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR SHORTED OUT THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP WHICH STOPPED THE ENGINE FROM TURNING OVER. LAWRENCE MARSHALL FIXED IT UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY AT THAT TIME AND CONSIDERED IT COMPLETELY FIXED. IN MAY 2003, AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES, THE SAME CONDITION WAS FIXED BY LAWRENCE MARSHALL AND BECAUSE THEY CONSIDERED IT A FACTORY DEFECT, THEY FIXED IT FOR NOTHING. NOW THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED AT 60,000 MILES ON THE SAME VEHICLE. WHEN YOU TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER, THE ENGINE DIES, BUT ONLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS RUN FOR A WHILE. THIS VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BY MY SON, AND I DON'T WANT HIM TO GET STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE WITH THE TRUCK NOT STARTING. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, IT HAD GOTTEN SO BAD THAT THE SALESMAN FROM LAWRENCE MARSHALL HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED FROM IN FRONT OF NEW SALES TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT HIS ESTABLISHMENT. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED FROM A FRIENDS HOUSE TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW IT HAS STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEATBELTS WILL LOCK UP AND WILL NOT RELEASE, CAUSING SEATBELTS TO BECOME UNUSABLE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING 71 MPH LEFT REAR TIRE DISINTEGRATED WITH NO WARNING. TIRES HAD 30% WEAR WITH MULTIPLE BREAKS ON INSIDE OF TIRE. *AK THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FIRESTONE TIRE SEPARATIONS AND PAID FOR FOUR TIRES THAT WERE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATES THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FROM THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. (FIRESTONE LT265/75R16) *YH
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING AT 55-60 MPH, CONSUMER T-BONED ANOTHER VEHICLE AND NONE OF THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONTACTED DEALER AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*JB *JG
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE CONTACT HAD TO ROLL THE VEHICLE A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DISTRIBUTOR WAS FULL OF WATER, WHICH BURNED THE COIL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
IGNITION SYSTEM FAILURE. *BF THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FAILURES OF THE IGNITION SYSTEM IN WHICH THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED ON SEVERAL OCCASION. THE PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE AN AIR CONDITIONING HOSE WHICH WAS ROUTED DIRECTLY OVER THE DISTRIBUTOR. THE GM ENGINEERING FELT THAT CONDENSATION FROM THE HOSE FALLING ONTO THE DISTRIBUTOR WAS CAUSING THE REPEATED PROBLEMS. IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THE HOSE WAS WRAPPED IN FOAM, HOWEVER IN MARCH 2004 THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WAS MISFIRING. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE DISTRIBUTOR WAS CORRODED. THE DISTRIBUTOR WAS REPLACED SEVERAL MORE TIMES DUE TO CORROSION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COIL WIRE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 39MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION, AND NONE OFTHE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 5-10 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKE, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR , NO BRAKING ACTION. DEALER REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP.*JB
WHEN DRIVING 70MPH TURNED ON HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN FOG LIGHT POSITION, AND PUT SWITCH BACK ON, AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT POSITION FAILED. ALL LIGHTS ON INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED EXCEPT CLOCK AND GAUGE LEVER. AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT SWITCH SUPPOSE TO STAY ILLUMINATED WHILE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. TOOK TO DEALER, AND DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. *AK ALSO AUTO LIGHTING SYSTEM CONTROL PANEL SWITCH IS EXTREMELY HOT. *YH
KNOCKING NOISE FROM BEGINNING-DEALER STATED "COLD STARTUP"-WRONG! MANUFACTURER SAID NOT DETRIMENTAL TO ENGINE-THEY HAD TO REPLACE MY ENGINE @ 25,000 MILES-STILL KNOCKING. GRINDING IN REAR END AT TAKE OFF-HAD TO REPLACE MY DRIVESHAFT-STILL GRINDING. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN 4 TIMES FOR ENGINE KNOCKING AND 5 TIMES FOR REAR END GRINDING. I'M NOW FIGHTING WITH GM AND BBB FOR A BUY BACK-MY TRUCK QUALIFIES UNDER THE LEMON LAW-33 TOTAL DAYS IN SHOP SO FAR. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER!!!*AK
WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE. WHEN VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP IT VIBRATES. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND MOTOR WAS OUT OF BALANCE. *AK *YD
MY WIFE TOOK MY TRUCK TO WORK. AT THE END OF THE DAY SHE DROVE ABOUT A HALF MILE AND STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. WHILE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC SHE HEARD A POP. WHEN SHE TOOK OFF THE TIRE WAS FLAT. THE SIDEWALL BLEW OUT. THERE IS A BLOWOUT FROM THE RIM TO THE PAVEMENT.*AK
WHILE TRYING TO FOLD REAR SEAT DOWN, CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO FLIP A LEVER THAT IS ON SEAT AND WHEN FLIPPING LEVER UP, THE SEAT SLAMMED DOWN AND CONSUMERS FINGER WAS IN THE HOLE OF THE LEVER. SEAT AMPUTATED THE TIP OF CONSUMERS FINGER.*AK. CONSUMER STATED THERE IS METAL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE REAR SEAT, HOWEVER THE DRIVERS SIDE IS SOLID.*JB
POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON VEHICLE, WHICH ALSO CAUSED POWER BRAKES TO BECOME INOPERATIVE, DELAER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP.*AK.*JB
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT ANY MPH COULD HEAR A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. LATELY, HAD DEVELOPED STRONG VIBRATION. CONSUMER HAD CONTACTED DEALER, AND THEY SAID THAT PROBLEM WAS DUE TO NOT ENOUGH WARM UP IN MORNING. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
PREMATURE WEAR OF PARKING BRAKE CAUSED BRAKE SHOE TO WEAR. DEALER HAS REPAIRED VEHICLE. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE DESIGN ALLOWS SHOE TO DROP DOWN AND CONTACT THE PARKING BRAKE DRUM WHILE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. THIS WEARS OUT SHOE AND DRUM. *YH

MANUAL STATES THE DOME OVERIDE MUST BE PUSHED FOUR(4) TIMES WITHIN SIX(6) SECONDS. *JG
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO STOP BELOW 5 MPH, THE BRAKES PULSATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY TIME HE ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR BEGIN PARKING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY ACCORDING TO RECALL 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK) AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP IN 2008L; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT REPAIRED AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
REAR BRAKES SYSTEM NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IT CAUSES EXTENED STOPPING DISTANCE. VEHICLE BEEN TO THE DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS AND PROBLE REOCCURRING. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

103,000 MILES ON 2001 CHEVY. SILVERADO P/U, 4TH TIME THAT BRAKES NEED TO BE REPLACED, ANTI LOCK NOISE WAS CONSTANT SINCE TAKING DELIVERY FROM DEALER. WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL SOUND. I DON'T THINK SO. MANY CLOSE CALLS FOR REAR END COLLISIONS WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN MY FAULT ESP. AT SPEEDS AS LOW AS 30 MPH. JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM. ALSO, ANTIFREEZE COMPLAINT WITH SMELL. SMELL MAKES US NAUSEOUS .FAUCET -RUNNING SOUND COMING FROM JUST BELOW DASH BUT UNDER HOOD, PAID DEALER TO FIX TWICE, WENT BACK TO GM DEALER TO TRY AND REMEDY FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE SHOPS WARRANTY AND OF COURSE NO LONGER IN BUSINESS. LAST COMPLAINT, DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS NEED TO BE REPLACED ALL THE TIME. REPLACED ONE DAY, LESS THAN 48 HOURS LATER, NEED TO BE REPLACE AGAIN. RUSTED FROM WATER IN HEADLAMP. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TO THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 61,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

ENGINE STOPS INSTANTANEOUSLY WITHOUT WARNING. EXTREME SAFETY PROBLEM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AS POWER STEERING IS LOST. CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS FAILED IN BOTH INSTANCES.
