PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD. ABOUT A YEAR TO 18 MONTHS AFTER THE VEHICLES (2001 Z71 CHEVERLET AND 2002 SURBUBAN) THE PARK BRAKE FAILS TO HOLD. AS TIME WENT ON, THE PARKING BRAKE PEDEL NEEDED TO BE DEPRESSED LOWER AND LOWER UNTIL THE BRAKE WOULD NO LONGER HOLD THE VEHICLE.*AK
PARKING BRAKE HASN'T WORKED SINCE AROUND 20000 MILES, BRAKE WILL DEPRESS, BUT WON'T KEEP TRUCK FROM ROLLING. LOUD PISTON SLAP, KNOCKING FROM ENGINE MOSTLY WHEN ENGINE IS COLD, GOES AWAY AFTER WARMED UP. THIS IS A Z71 AND THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE BUTTONS DO NOT WORK ALL THE TIME WHEN TRYING TO PUT INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. POWER MIRRORS DON'T WORK A LOT OF THE TIME. AT LEAST ONE OF THE FRONT RUNNING LIGHTS STAY BURNED OUT MOST OF THE TIME. TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW BUT THESE PROBLEMS HAVE EXISTED FOR A LONG TIME. A LOT OF OTHER TRUCKS OF THIS SAME MODEL HAVE ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS. GM SHOULD ADDRESS THESE PROBLEMS AND MAKE THEM RIGHT AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STALL WHILE PARKED OR WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE AS NORMAL ONCE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30-40 MPH, HAD "T"-BONED ANOTHER VEHICLE, AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, CAUSED MOTOR TO BE PUSHED BACK ABOUT 5 INCHES. CONTACTED DEALER, AND INFORMED CONSUMER VEHICLE WAS NOT DESIGNED FOR AIRBAG TO GO OFF ON FRONTAL IMPACT. PLEASE ADD VIN. *AK
MY TRUCK HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND, SINCE I PURCHASING IT NEW IN JULY, 2001, I RARELY USE THE PARKING BRAKE. A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, WHEN PARKING ON A HILL, I FIRST NOTICED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT WORK HOWEVER, AS I RARELY USED IT I CONTINUED TO RELY ON THE TRANSMISSION'S "PARK" SETTING TO KEEP THE TRUCK IN PLACE UNTIL LONG AFTER THE GUARANTEE HAD EXPIRED. WHEN I THEN LOOKED INTO THE POSSIBILITY OF WHETHER THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE I FOUND THAT THERE HAD BUT IT WAS ONLY FOR CARS WITH A STANDARD TRANSMISSION SO I DECIDED TO CONTINUE LIVING WITH THIS FAULT. NOW, AS I LEARN MORE AND MORE ABOUT THE TENDENCY OF THE BRAKE LINES ON THIS VEHICLE TO RUST THROUGH AND FAIL IT OCCURS TO ME THAT THIS IS, IN FACT, AN EMERGENCY BRAKE AS WELL AS A PARKING BRAKE. MY TRUCK NOW HAS 59,923 MILES. I BELIEVE IT, AND OTHERS LIKE IT, SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED YEARS AGO ALONG WITH THOSE STANDARD TRANSMISSION MODELS. I WOULD HOPE THAT THIS COMPLAINT WOULD HELP FURTHER THAT ACTION. *TR
I WAS DRIVING EAST ON F.M. 356 AT ABOUT NOON. I WAS TRAVELLING ABOUT 50 MPH. A CAR TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AND I ATTEMPTED TO PASS THE CAR. I WAS UNABLE TO DUE TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, SO I QUICKLY RETURNED TO MY LANE. ONE OF MY TIRES WENT OFF ONTO THE UNPAVED SHOULDER AND I WENT DOWN A SMALL EMBANKMENT. IT WAS MUDDY SO I COULD NOT STOP. I HIT A LARGE PINE TREE HEAD ON AND STOPPED. BOTH OF US WERE WEARING OUR SEATBELTS. MY AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY CAUSING MY HEAD AND TORSO TO STRIKE THE STEERING WHEEL. I SUFFERED 6TH NERVE PAULSEY AND AN ANUERISM DEVELOPED ON MY AORTA. THE AORTA HAD TO BE SURGICALLY REPAIRED. MY GRANDDAUGHTER'S AIRBAG HAD BEEN TURNED OFF DUE TO HER SMALL SIZE. SHE SUFFERED A BROKEN LEG AND A SLIGHT CONCUSSION. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLED. *AK

WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE THE POWER ASSIST STEERING FADES TO NOTHING AFTER 1/8 TURN MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MANUVER. THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND GEARBOX WERE REPLACED, THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST . I HAVE HAD THE STEERING WHEEL JERK GOING AROUND CURVES AND HAVING TO APPLY THE BRAKE ALSO. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZZARD. GM STATES THAT THIS IS JUST CARACTERISTIC OF THIS TRUCK, I DO NOT FEEL IT MAKES IT OK. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE RE-ENGINEERED SO THAT THE POWER ASIST IS AT CONSTANT PRESSURE. I AM TOLD BY MANUFACTURER THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT SO THERE IS NO PROBLEM. IT SHOULD NOT COME TO THAT. IF I, AS A BUSINESS OWNER PRODUCE A PRODUCT THAT HAS A DEFINITE PROBLEM I CANNOT TELL MY CUSTOMERS THAT IS JUST CHARACTERISTIC OF MY WORK, TOO BAD, SO WHY CAN GM DO THAT? VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY DEALER, WHO ADVISED CONSUMER THAT ORIGINAL TIRES ON VEHICLE WERE OF INSUFFICIENT GRADE TO SUPPORT VEHICLE'S WEIGHT. CONSUMER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER WITH NO RESOLUTION. 2001, CHEVROLET EXPRESS VAN, C3500 WITH 13000 MILES . CONSUMER ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE TIRES.*AK
PURCHASED A 2001 CHEVROLET 3500 DUAL WHEEL DIESEL SILVERADO PICK-UP NEW IN 2001. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS ALWAYS FELT LIKE A BUCKET OF MUSH. IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS THE DEALER REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND ALL OF THE BRAKE ROTORS WHICH WERE RUSTED. THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. IT IS NOW JULY 2005 AND I AM TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TOMORROW TO REPAIR A BRAKEL FLUID LEAK ON THE LEFT REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT STOP LIKE A NORMAL VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED. I ALSO OWN A 2000 CHEVROLET 25OO AND THE BRAKES FUNCTION NORMALLY. TODAY I CHECKED ON BRAKE PROBEMS WITH CHEVROLET PICKUPS ON THE INTERNET AND FIND THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH PROBLEMS. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE DEATH AND LAWSUITS BEGIN. I WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO BE MORE ACTIVE ON THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THIS BEGINS.
AT 35 MPH POWER STEERING WENT OUT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. POWER STEERING UNIT WAS LEAKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON 17 JUNE 2002 POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN, IT WAS FOUND TO BE LEAKING. VEHICLE AT DEALER AT THIS TIME.*AK

WHEN I HAVE MY PLOW ON THE TRUCK IT WILL OVER HEAT AND FOG UP ALLTHE WINDOWS. THE WINDOWS FOG UP SO FAST AND SO MUCH THAT IT IS HARD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD BECAUSE YOU CANT SEE. GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM, ISSUED SERVICE REQUEST #, BUT NO SERVICE AND NO RESPONSE. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PRODUCT. EXPERIENCE VIBRATION BETWEEN 40 AND 70 MPH, FEELS AS THOUGH TIRES ARE SKIPPING ON ROAD SURFACE. DRIVER INPUT IS LIMITED BY THE RESPONSE OF TIRES. ALL 5 TIRES WERE REPLACED, EXPERIENCING SAME CONDITION AGAIN AT 4,000 MILES. HAVE RETURNED TO DEALER REGARDING SAME PROBLEM, AND AM GOING TOR RETURN ONCE MORE AS PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED. MY FATHER HAS A 2001 GMC SIERRA WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, SAME SIZE AND MODEL TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES, AWAITS THIRD REPLACEMENT. COWORKER HAS 2002 SILVERADO, SAME TIRES SAME PROBLEM. A DESIGN FLAW IN PASSENGERS SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE PROPERPLY OUT OF IT.*AK *MJ
PARKING BRAKE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS BUT NOT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS OF THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE. WHILE PARKING ON A STEEP HILL I FOUND OUT MY PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT HOLDING. I BOUGHT NEW BRAKES AT DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME MANUAL TRANSMISSION PICKUPS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. AFTER READING RECALL NOTICE I DISCOVERED IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY AUTOMATIC PICKUP HAD. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PICKUPS. 2001 CHEVY HALF TON 2 WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP. *JB
I WAS TRAVELING WESTBOUND ON STATE ROUTE 262 AT APPROXIMATELY 32 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I ENCOUNTERED A STOPPED VEHICLE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN AN INITIAL BRAKE AND THEN LURCHED FORWARD WITHOUT MY RELEASING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS CAUSED ME TO STRIKE THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID THE SEAT BELT PROPERLY RESTRAIN ME. THIS CAUSED ME TO STRIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY CHEST AND STOMACH. THE HAMILTON COUNTY POLICE OFFICE DOCUMENTED THAT THE AIR BAGS AND THE SEATBELT DID NOT PROPERLY FUNCTION. I WAS SITED FOR FOLLOWING TO CLOSE EVEN THOUGH I FEEL THAT THE BRAKES FAILED. I PLAN TO APPEAL THE TICKET DUE TO THIS REASONING IN COURT ON NOVEMBER 29, 2001. THE SAFEY OF OTHER OWNERS/DRIVERS OF THESE VEHICLES IS WHAT PROMPTED ME TO WRITE. VEHICLE WILL STALL USAUALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF, AFTER COMING TO A STOP VEHICLE COULD BE TURNED BACK ON, CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK ON 10-20-01, THE VEHICLES ENGINE ABRUPTLY QUIT RUNNING 3 TIMES WHILE CRUISING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ALL ENGINE INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL WITH NO FAILED MESSAGES, AFTER COASTING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE RESTARTED OK EACH TIME. ON 10-22-01 THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR EXISTING OR PREVIOUS FAULTS, PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. ON 11-03-01 THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN OCCURRED 3 TIMES. ON 11-06-01, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT LEAKING COOLANT TANK WAS ALLOWING COOLANT TO FOLLOW WIRING HARNESS INTO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ON THE DRIVERTRAIN COMPUTER UNIT, CAUSING INTERMITTANT FUEL INJECTION OPERATION. REPAIRS WERE MADE, PROBLEM HAS NOT REOCCURRED.*YD
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE IN WET ROAD CONDITIONS, AND TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50 TO 55 MPH VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT BARRIER. BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY.
