SEATBELT SYSEM IS NOT DESIGNED FOR PEOPLE OVER 6.6" TALL. IN AN ACCIDENT, IT COULD CAUSE INJURY TO CONSUMER'S BACK.*AK THE CONSUMER HAD CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE IF ADAPTER DEVICE OR OTHER SEAT OPTIONS WAS AVAILABLE FOR TALL PERSONS, BUT THE ANSWER WAS NONE TO BOTH. THEN, THE CONSUMER ASKED IF THE MANUFACTURE WOULD BUY BACK THE VEHICLE THE ANSWER WAS THEY WOULD NOT. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET THE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONSUMER'S HEIGHT AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *YH
THIS TRK DRIFTS LEFT WITHIN ABOUT 40 FT YOUR OFF THE ROAD I TOOK IT IN THEY SET THE FRONT END 3 OR 4 TIMES THE LAST TIME THEY WENT PAST MANUF.SPECTS TO COMPENSATE AND SET TOE IN OUT TRK STILL DRIFTS AT ABOUT 60 TO100 FT AND NOW TIRES ARE WAREING ON THE INSIDE THIS TRK SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS AND I FIND THERE ARE OTHERS AFTER TALKING TO A ALINEMENT SHOP THE DEALERS TAKING THEM THERE BEFOR SOMEONE BUYS IT SO THEY MAY NOT NOTICE THERES A PROBLEM. *AK
THE 3-POINT SAFETY BELT CUTS INTO MY SHOULDER AND CAUSES SEVERE PAIN EVEN WHEN THE VEHICKLE IS NOT MOVING. THE SAFETY BELT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO CORRECT TIS PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT NOTICED A THE TIME VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED DUE TO TEH SHORT DURATION OF THE TEST DRIVE, AND THE HEAVY COAT THAT WAS WORN AT THE TIME. IF THE SAFETY BELT CAUSES PAIN AND DISCOMFORNT AFTER SHOR DURATIONS OF WEAR, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT IT WOULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURIES DUE TO THE DESIGN IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER SAYS THAT THE SEAT BELT IS OPERATING AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO AND THAT IT IS MY FAULT THAT I AM TALLER THAN THEIR DESIGN CRITERIA. THE DEALER DID NOT IDENTIFY ANY HEIGHT RESTRICTION ACCOSIATED WITH THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICKLE WHEN IT WA SPURCHASED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO CORRECT. THE ONLY WAY TO DRIVE THIS VEHICKLE MORE THAN 10 MILES WITHOUT BEING SUBJECTED TO PAIN AND SUFFERING IS TO DRIVE WITHOUT BEING BUCKLED UP. SO DO I BUCKLE UP AND CONTINUE TO INDURE THE PAIN, OR DO I BREAK THE LAW AND NOT BUCKLE UP. NOT WEARING THE SEAT BELT PUTS ME AT THE SAME OR GREATER RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT AS WELL AS IS BREAKING THE LAW.*AK
CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO ADJUST SEATBELT FOR CONSUMER'S HEIGHT. SHOULDER BELT FITS BELOW CONSUMER'S SHOULDER. DEALER DOES NOT HAVE REMEDY TO REPAIR SEATBELT. *AK
AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THAT THE SAFETY BELY SYSTEM WAS CAUSING PAIN IN MY SHOULDER. THIS IS A RESULT OF A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE PASSANGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM WHICH PREVENTS THE SHOULDER BELT PORTION OF THE SEAT BELT FROM BEING ADJUSTED SO THAT THE DRIVER AND/ORPASSANGER CAN PROPERLY BUKLE THE SEAT BELT. THIS DESIGN PRESENT SERIOUS AND POTENTIALY LIFE THREATENING CONSEQUENCES FOR THE DRIVER AND OCCUPENTS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE DESIGN ALSO MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE DRIVER TO COMPLY WITH STATE SEAT BELT LAWS WHICH REQUIRE THE DRIVER AND PASSANGERS TO BE PROPERLY BUCKLED UP WHILE DRIVING. THIS DESIGN ALSO SUBJECTS PASSENGER WHO ARE ABOVE AVERAGE IN HEIGHT TO PAIFUL DOWNWARD PRESSURE ON THEIR SHOULDER AND COLAR BONE WHILE WEARING THE SAFETY BELT. THE SAFETY BELT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED AN ANY WAY OR FORM. THE VEHICKLE HAS BEEN TAKE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, AND THE PROBLEM WAS FORWARDED TO THE MANUFATURER. THE REPORT BACK WAS THAT THE SEAT BELT SYSTEMS IS WORKING ACORDING TO THEIR DESIGN AND THAT IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM IS IS MINE BECAUSE I AM ABOVE AVEGARE IN HEIGHT AND DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIA THEY DESIGNED FOR. THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL MAKE NO EFFORT TO CORRECT THE SAFETY PROBLEM, WHICH THEY ADMITTED EXISTED, UNLESS THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ITEM. IF THE SEAT BELT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED SO THAT THE DRIVER AND/OR PASSANGER CAN PROPERLY AND SAFLY BUCKLE UP, HOW CAN THIS DESIGN MEET FEDERAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. IS IT NOT THE REPONCIBILITY OF NHTSA TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM SUCH OBVIOUSLY FLAGRANT VIOLATIONS AND SAFETY HAZARDS. WHY IS IT THAT NHTSA REFUSES TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION TO FORCE THE MANUFACTURER TO CORRECT THIS SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT? IS NHTSA WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO BE KILLED OR PERMANANTLY DISABLED BEFORE THEY ACT. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THEN NHTSA IS ITSELF ASSUMING PARTIAL LIABILITY FOR FAILURE TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC FROM THE SAFETY DEFECTS THAT ARE KNOWN TO EXIST WITH THIS AND OTHER SIMILAR DESIGNS. *AK
ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AND ENGINE MISFIRED SEVERAL TIME DAILY. ALSO, TRANSMISSION CLUNKED ON STRAIGHT AWAY, A TORQUE CONVERTER LOCK UP. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. . VEHICLE WAS THERE FOR FOUR TIMES, VEHICLE IS THERE CURRENTLY. *AK
CONSUMER HAS TO PUSH DOWN ON BRAKES HARD BEFORE VEHICLE WILL STOP. CONSUMER HAS ALMOST RAN A STOP SIGN. *AK
THE PARKING BRAKE WAS DEFECTIVE. WHEN PARKING THE BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WHEN PLACING TRUCK IN GEAR WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON IT WILL DRIVE. DEALER STATED THAT WARRANTY EXPIRED. DEALER WANTED TO CHANGE THE ROTORS AND PARTS, BUT CONSUMER WOULD BE CHARGED FOR REPAIRS. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK FROM PURCHASE. THE CONSUMER BY ANOTHER DEALER THAT THE BRAKE WAS A POOR DESIGN AND WOULD FAIL IF DRIVEN 100 FEET WITH THE BRAKE SET. *TC
WHILE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN DRIVESHAFT MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE, CAUSE UNKNOWN. CONSUMER FEARS THAT DRIVESHAFT MAY FALL FROM VEHICLE. DEALER CAN NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM. *AK *SLC

CONTACTED DEALER;SAID TSB WILL BE ISSUED;I AM MAKING NHTSA AWARE OF PROBLEM TO KEEP CONSUMERS INFORMED OF ANY RECALLS REMEADIES OR REPAIRS CONSERNING THIS ENGINE NOISE. *AK
BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HAD TO PUSH BRAKES DOWN TWICE BEFORE VEHICLE STOPS. ALSO, BRAKES DONOT WORK GOOD ON DRY PAVEMENT. *AK
MY 2001 SILVERADO TRUCK HAS HAD A STICKY GAS PEDAL SINCE NEW. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO MOTION ONCE THE TRANSMISSION IS ENGAGED IN 'DRIVE' DUE TO A GAS PEDAL THAT IS STUCK. I HAVE TO PLACE AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO GET THE THROTTLE TO UNSTICK AND FEED GAS TO THE ENGINE. THIS RESULTS IN AN ABRUPT, JOLTING START.
REAR END OF THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL WHEN DRIVEN OVER BUMPS OR POTHOLES AT ANY SPEED ON ANY KIND OF ROAD CONDITIONS. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTATCED FOR THIS PROBLEM , BUT HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BY RAISING AND LOWERING TIRE PRESSURE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING UP A HILL. THEN VEHICLE STRUCK A WOODEN FENCE. ONE BEAM OF THE FENCE CAME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, STRIKING THE CONSUMER IN THE HEAD, EVENTUALLY KILLING HIM. ALSO, TWO PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES. IN THE CONFUSION, CONSUMER DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL INSTEAD OF THE BRAKES AND STRUCK A FIRE HYDRANT. ALL PASSENGERS AND THE CONSUMER WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. POLICE ARRIVED ON THE SCENE AND MADE A REPORT. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. *AK
EMERGENCY BRAKE GAVE WAY ON FLAT GROUND, AND SUBSEQUENTLY RAN OVER DRIVER'S LEGS. *AK EMERGENCY BRAKE GOES TO THE FLOOR. THE REAR BRAKES LOCK UP. IT WAS HARD TO SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR AND SOMETIMES POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR. *YH

TWO WEEKS LATER, TREAD SEPARATED ON RIGHT FRONT. *AK WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE TREAD SEPARATED THE VEHICLE SKIDDED ACROSS TO THE LEFT HAND DITCH LINE AND HIT THE BANK. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND THE DRIVER WAS INJURED.*YH
SET CRUISE @ 67MPH LEVEL GROUND (APPORX 1900RPM) RUN FOR ~10-15 MINS. GO UP SUFFICIENT GRADE FOR CC TO FORCE DOWNSHIFT TO NEXT LOWER GEAR AND INCREASE IN RPM TO 3000+. UPON CRESTING HILL AND GOING DOWN GRADUAL DOWNGRADE THE VEHICLE WILL UPSHIFT BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL RESET ITS SETPOINT TO ~ 4-5 MPH GREATER THAN ORIGINAL. SUBSEQUENT HILLS WILL KEEP REPEATING UNTIL TEST TERMINATED ABOVE 75MPH. REPEATABILOITY IS VARIABLE BASED UPON GRADES OF SUBSEQUENT INCLINES. FIRST RESET TO +4 MPH IS CONSISTENT.

I OWN A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO K3500 WITH THE 6.0L ENGINE. MY VEHICLE HAS CONSUMED OIL FROM DAY ONE AND THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. I TRAVELED TO OHIO LAST MONTH AND USED ONE QUART IN ABOUT 450 MILES. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. NOW I MUST GIVE YOU SOME BACKGROUND ON MYSELF. MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE WAS A 1995 GMC SIERRA K3500 WITH A 7.4L ENGINE, BOTH THE 2001 AND THE 1995 I PURCHASED NEW. I FOLLOWED THE MANUFACTURER'S DIRECTIONS ON BREAKING IN THE VEHICLE IN BOTH CASES. THE 1995 VEHICLE NEVER CONSUMED OIL, EVEN AT 145,000 MILES. I CHECK MY OIL AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, THAT IS A DISGRACE FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. MY VEHICLE ALSO KNOCKS AND PINGS ALL THE TIME. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AT TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAVE RECEIVED TWO DIFFERENT STORIES. I AM TIRED OF THE "RUN AROUND" TREATMENT BY THE DEALER AND BY CHEVY WHEN I CALL THE "CHEVY HELP LINE", "WORK IT OUT WITH THE DEALER" IS ALL I'M TOLD. THE CONSUMER'S HUSBAND HAD 2 MINOR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE BRAKES FAILING. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ACCIDENTS WERE DUE TO THE BRAKES LOCKING UP AT LOW SPEEDS. *JB

ENGINE HAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE SINCE DAY ONE. REPORTED PROBLEM TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PISTONS ARE "SLAPPING" INSIDE THE CYLINDER WALLS AND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM FROM CHEVROLET. NEW PISTONS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL DECEMBER 2001. CHANGED OIL AND FOUND METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE OIL THAT WERE STUCK TO THE MAGNETIC OIL BOLT. NOISE PROBLEM IS GETTING LOUDER EACH WEEK. DEALER REP CALLED AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO ME DIRECTLY. *AK

ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TO ENGAGE AFTER COMING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SURGED WHILE EASING OUT INTO TRAFFIC, ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS. SINCE NEW THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED AN ENGINE KNOCK, I HAVE TALKED TO 4 OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THE DEALER ADVISES THERE IS NO REPAIR AT THIS TIME! AND ADVISED ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF PROBLEMS WITH THE 6 AND 5.3 LITER ENGINES. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL REDUCE THE ENGINE LIFE AND I AM CONSERNED ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER STANCE OF "NO REPAIR AT THIS TIME" THANKS. *AK

THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, CONSUMER SHUT OFF ENGINE. NEXT CONSUMER WAS CALLED BY A NEIGHBOR STATING VEHICLE HAD CAUGHT FIRE. FIRE TOTALED THE VEHICLE. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED FIRE STARTED BEHIND STEERING COLUMN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS
CONSUMER STATES THAT BRAKE SYSTEM WAS SO EXCESSIVELY RUSTED AND CORRODED THAT THE VEHICLE'S STOPPING DISTANCE HAD TRIPLED. THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS BUT REINSTALLED SAME BRAKE PADS. THERE EXISTS ONLY 2.5 INCHES OF SURFACE ON THE ROTORS LEFT FOR PADS TO HIT.
THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR VIEW WINDOW DEVELOPED STREAKS THAT WERE VERY DISTRACTING. THE DRIVER SAID THE STREAKS WERE LETTING OFF FALSE IMAGES. PLEASE DESCRIBE FURTHER. *NLM
THE FRONT/REAR BRAKE ROTORS RUSTED AND PEELED. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THIS FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF THE MATERIALS USED. THE PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. *NLM THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE QUALITY OF THE ROTORS WERE BAD AND THEY SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER THAN 42K MILES. *SCC *JB
