VEHICLE SHIMMIED AT 45 MPH. FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE HAD A SPLIT IN IT SIMILAR TO THE FIRESTONE TIRE DEFECT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE SHUT OFF. VEHICLE WOULD IDLE, AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 26 TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK
WHILE MAKING A TURN REAR END LOCKED UP. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO PULL HARD, SKID, AND COME TO AN ABRUPT HALT. THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINS ABOUT THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BEARINGS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THERE IS NO BRAKING POWER. SOMETIMES THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE IT CATCHES AND SLOWS THE VEHICLE DOWN. THIS OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
THE REAR ROTORS WERE PITTING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS CONDITION DID NOT CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS WHILE DRIVING. THE ROTORS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED SO SOON. *AK NOISE WAS HEARD IN THE REAR. THE ROTORS WERE COMPOSITE ROTORS, LAYERED METAL INSTEAD OF CAST AND WERE NOT TO BE TURNED OR FACED. THE ROTORS WERE RUSTED OUT, THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE ON AN INCLINE (SERVICE BULLETIN# 10000172) *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING TAILGATE CABLES SNAPPED. THIS CAUSED THE TAILGATE TO COME, CRASHING DOWN. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF VEHICLE. ALSO WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS A SEVERE ENGINE KNOCK. *AK
CONSUMER WAS LOADING A FOUR WHEELER ONTO THE BACK OF PICKUP. WITHOUT ANY INDICATION THE ARMS THAT ATTACHED THE TAILGATE TO THE TRUCK BROKE. THE FOUR WHEELER FLIPPED OVER THE TAILGATE AND DROPPED.*AK
THE CONSUMER FOUND CRACKS ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *PH THE DAY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN HOME PURCHASE, THE CONSUMER FOUND A CHUNK OUT OF IT IN THE SEVERAL SPOTS. THERE WAS PAINT CHIPPING OFF. IF SOMETHING HEAVY WAS PLACED HEAVY WAS PLACED IN THE CAB IT COULD POSSIBLY BREAK OFF. *SC
ROTORS RUSTED AND WOULDN'T ALLOW THE BRAKE PADS TO MAKE FULL AND PROPER CONTACT WITH THE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY WERE USED. *PH THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT GM SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO INFORM THE VEHICLE OWNERS THAT THE PARTS ARE MADE WITH USED MATERIALS AND THAT THE WARRANTY IS NOT VALID. COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURIES. * CB
ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS. *AK THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE HAD A CONTAMINATED FUEL SYSTEM WHICH WOULD COST $170 AND IT WOULD INCLUDE CLEANING THE INJECTORS. AFTER NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP THAT THE CONSUMER SPOKE WITH PREVIOUSLY WHO SAID THE WORK SHOULD BE PERFORMED AT NO CHARGE, THE CONSUMER WENT TO A FRIEND AND ALL HE DID WAS REMOVE THE AIR INTAKE HOSE FROM THE FRONT OF THE THROTTLE BODY AND SPRAYED SOME CLEANING AGENT AND WIPED AROUND THE BUTTERFLY VALVE, WHICH RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. *JB
POWER ASSIST STEERING FADED TO NOTHING WHILE DRIVING. DEALER REPLACED MAJOR FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, INCLUDING TIRES, BUT THE STEERING FAILURE STILL PERSISTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. MANUFACTURE RWAS NOT CLAIMING ANY RESPONSIBILITY AT THIS TIME. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH THROTTLE STICKING IN THE CLOSED POSITION. *MR THE THROTTLE ACCELERATOR HAD STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION. WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE THROTTLE SUDDENLY FREED UP AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD SUDDENLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. *SCC *JB
WHILE THE CONSUMER LOOKED OVER THE TIRES HE NOTICED THAT THE TWO FRONT TIRES HAD BUBBLES ON THE SIDE WALLS. *NLM
WHILE LOADING FISHING EQUIPMENT AND SLEEPING BAGS THE TAILGATE ASSEMBLY STRAPS BROKE ON BOTH SIDES. CONSUMER SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT NORMAL SPEED HEARD A NOISE, AND SUDDENLY THE REAR OF THE TRUCK DROPPED. DEALER STATED THAT LEFT REAR AXLE HOUSING CRACKED IN HALF. *AK CONSUMER EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND MANUFACTURING DEFECTS INCLUDING WEAK WELDING RESULTED IN RECURRENT LOOSENING OF BOTH BEDSIDES, METAL FATIGUE RESULTING IN THE SHEARING OF AXLE HOUSING, AND GENERAL MALFUNCTION OF FACTORY ASSEMBLED COMPONENTS RESULTING IN MISALIGNMENT OF THE BED OF THE VEHICLE AND MALFUNCTION OF THE TAILGATE. ALSO, VEHICLE SEEMED TO LOOSE POWER AND ROAD STABILITY WHEN TURNING RIGHT AT LOW SPEED. DUE TO THE PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY CONSUMER, VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT OF DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS. *LA
ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM ON VEHICLE ENGAGES AT A VERY SLOW SPEED. *MR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT HUB SENSORS DROPPED OUT. THE CONSUMER KNEW A PERSON THAT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM IN WHICH THAT PERSON WAS INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR BETWEEN 50K AND 55K MILES ON THESE VEHICLES. PER INVOICE, THE BRAKE HAD WORN OUT. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. *SCC *JB
WHEN STARTING ACCELERATOR PEDAL/ THROTTLE STUCK IN THE CLOSED POSITION. ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED WITH GREAT PRESSURE TO RELEASE THE PEDAL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE WAY THE AIR FILTER WAS DESIGNED, IT COLLECTED VAPOR MOISTURE WHICH PLUGGED UP THE FILTER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, WITH ONLY THE DRIVER IN A CHEVROLET, SILVERADO 2001, AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT INSTALLED AT 300 MILES, TIRE SIZE LT 265/75R16, DOT# UTW8DMC3501, LEFT FRONT TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT WHICH CAUSED TREAD TO SEPARATE FROM THE SIDEWALL. NO DAMAGE WAS REPORTED AT THIS TIME. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE WHEN ENGAGED IT DIDN'T HOLD, AND VEHICLE ROLLED FORWARD.*AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE MAKING A SHARP TURN CONSUMER HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE, AND STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY LOOSE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, DEALER REPLACED THE PITMAN ARM, AND IDLE ARM. SHORTLY AFTERWARS PROBLEM REOCCURED, AND TIE RODS WERE REPLACED. *AK
PER CONSUMER ABS MOTOR WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE CAUSED BY OVERHEATING.*AK
THE VEHICLE HAD A LEAK IN THE FUEL RETURN MANIFOLD ON THE RIGHT SIDE. *MR A LEAK IN THE FUEL RETURN MANIFOLD CAUSED DIESEL FUEL TO ENTER THE ENGINE CRANK CASE. NEW SEAL RETAINERS WERE INSTALLED, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED (DUROMAX ENGINE). THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. *SCC *JB
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TOO LOW TO THE FLOORBOARD. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 5/1/2003 ,5TH TIME, AND THE PEDAL WAS STILL TOO LOW. CONSUMER HAS ALSO CONTACTED THE BBB. *AK
ENGINE LOSES OIL. IN MARCH ENGINE LOST TWO QUARTS OF OIL IN 900 MILES. AT 49,000 MILES RINGS AND PISTONS WERE REPLACED. CURRENTLY, ENGINE IS SMOKING. *AK
THE BRAKES DID NOT HOLD WHEN THEY WERE PRESSED WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP. *NLM *CB *NLM
THE TAIL GATE CABLES RUSTED THROUGH, WHICH CAUSED THE TAIL GATE TO HAVE NO SUPPORT. *JB
THE ABS UNIT CONTINUED TO RUN AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PULL THE MAIN ABS FUSE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *JB
TAILGATE WAS IN DOWN POSITION WHEN BOTH TAILGATE STRAPS BROKE. *AK *NLM
WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, CONSUMER STATES' ANOTHER DRIVER PULLED INFRONT AND CONSUMER HIT THAT VEHICLE ON ITS SIDE. NONE OF THE VEHICLES ARE BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS COLLISION WAS A HARD IMPACT AND AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED.
CONSUMER STATES: WHILE DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 45MPH WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDED ANY ADDITIONAL IN FORMATION. TS
ENGINE IS USING BETWEEN 4 AND 7 QTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. GENERAL MOTORS DESIGNED A NEW PCV VALVE IN HOPES OF SOLVING THIS OIL USAGE PROBLEM. IT HAS NOT HELPED ONE BIT. THE TRUCK IS NOT LEAKING THE OIL OUT ON THE GROUND. THERE IS NO BLUE SMOKE COMING FROM TAILPIPE. THIS TO ME SEEMS TO BE AIR POLLUTION. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A NATION WIDE PROBLEM NOT JUST MINE. THE VEHICLE IS DOING THIS AT NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING SPEEDS OF 55 TO 70 MPH. DT
THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING UPON COLD START UP AT APPROX. EIGHT THOUSAND MILES, AND A PROBLEM STARTED WITH A ENGINE PINGING NOISE(VALVE CLATTER) AT THE SAME MILEAGE. THE PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES IN WHICH NO ATTEMPT FOR CORRECTION WAS MADE ON REPAIRING THE ENGINE KNOCK. THE VALVE CLATTER PROBLEM HAS BEEN WORKED ON MORE THAN THREE TIMES WITH NO SOLUTION. NOW THE PROBLEM IS DEEMED UNREPAIRABLE OR AS THE DEALER STATES "NORMAL" AS MY REPLY IS THAT THE TRUCK DID NOT MAKE ANY NOISE UNTILL 8,000 MILES, IF THE NOISE IS NORMAL WHY DID IT TAKE 8,OOO MILES FOR THE PROBLEM TO ARRISE. AT THE PRESENT TIME THE ENGINE KNOCKS ON BOTH HOT AND COLD START AND VALVE CLATTER IS EXPERIENCED UPON ACCELERATION, CONSTANT SPEEDS, AND IS THE WORST WHEN TRYING TO TOW A TRAILER OF LESS THAN 30% OF VEHICLES MAX GVWR. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS THE BUMPING, KNOCKING LOOSE STEERING SENSATION FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS PROBLEM HAS ALSO BEEN WORKED ON SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SOLUTION. I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE ARE NEW INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT PARTS THAT ARE SUPPOSE TO FIX MY PROBLEM, BUT I AM NOT BEING TOLD OF A COMPLETION OR DELIVERY DATE ON THIS CORRECTION. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE STEERING IS GOING TO MALFUNCTION CAUSING A ACCIDENT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES WITH MY CONCERNS. THE ONLY REPLIES I HAVE RECEIVED ARE "YES THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT, OR WILL CALL YOU!" IT SEEMS TO ME THAT A MANUFACTURER THAT CAN DESIGN AND MANUFACTURER MILLIONS OF VEHICLES SHOULD KNOW HOW TO FIX WHAT THEY PRODUCE. DT
PER THE MANUFACTURES DIRECTIONS I INFLATE THE TIRES TO 55PSI FRONT AND 80PSI REAR. I TOW A 30FT, 10,000LB FIFTH WHEEL WHOSE KING PIN WEIGHT IS 1600LBS. I DRIVE UP TO 60MPH TOWING AND BETWEEN 65 AND 70 WHEN NOT TOWING. I CHOOSE THE TRUCK TO PROVIDE A ONE THIRD SAFETY MARGIN FOR THE TRUCKS TOTAL CAPACITY. HAVE ROTATED THE TIRES FRONT TO REAR AS CHEVY RECOMMENDS AND INFLATED ACCORDINGLY. HAVE NOTICED LATELY THAT THE TIRES HAVE A CIRCUMFERENTIAL DEPRESSION MIDWAY UP THE TIRE SIDE WALL ON BOTH SIDES. IN THIS DEPRESSION AREA THERE IS CHECKING ON BOTH SIDES. THE CHECKING DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE REST OF THE SIDE WALL. BEING FAMILIAR WITH TIRE MANUFACTURING THIS TELLS ME THAT THE RUBBER SHEET LAYUP PRIOR TO VULCANIZING IS NOT UNIFORM FROM BEAD TO BEAD AROUND THE TIRE. THIS MAY BE A POTENTIAL AREA OF SIDE WALL SEPERATION, DUE TO LOADING OR START UP AND STOPPING RADIAL TORQUE ON THE TIRE. ALL 4 TIRES EXHIBIT THIS BUT I DIDN'T NOTICE IT PRIOR TO ROTATING THEM. THE TIRES WERE MADE IN CANADA TO TPC 2012 MS 23572 UR BM05326-2 IF THIS HELPS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THESE TIRES AND THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM THEY MAY HAVE. THEY ARE NOT TO THE POINT, WEAR WISE, THAT I WOULD BUY A NEW SET. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK AMD HOW YOU VIEW THIS ISSUE. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL OR EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. THE ENGINE KNOCKS FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS UPON STARTING THE TRUCK.*AK
WHILE PLACING VEHICLE IN DRIVE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. CONSUMER WILL CONTACT DEALER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, SEAT BELT BECOMES VERY TIGHT, GIVING A FEELING OF CLOSTRAPHOBIA. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER.*AK CONSUMER STATED TIRES VIBRATED AT A SPEED OF 45-50, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES WERE OUT OF ROUND, ALSO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR AWHILE, IT SEEMS TO MISS SPEEDS, WHEN MAKING HARD TURNS IN EITHER DIRECTION, THERE IS A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING, AND IN COOL WEATHER THE STEERING IS HARD TO TURN, ALSO THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING.*JB
AIR CONDITIONER LINE LEAKS ON DISTRIBUTOR CAP, CAUSING COMPUTER TO TO SHORT CIRCUIT. CONSUMER WILL ADD MORE DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION.*AK
SHOCK ABSORBORS ARE LEAKING FLUID. CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS MAY CAUSE A FIRE, AND/OR SERIOUS UNEXPECTED ACCIDENT FROM THE LEAKAGE, CONSUMER DOES NOT WANT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A MATTER THAT HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE DEALER, W/ THE DEALER REASSURING HIM THAT THIS IS OKAY, WHEN THE VEHICLE IS CONTINUING TO LEAK. A VERY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE IS COMING FROM THE MOTOR, WE HAVE HAD THE LIFTERS REPLACED, BUT IT STILL HAS FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WE HAVE CONTACTED THE BBB ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WE ARE WAITING TO SEE WHERE WE GO FROM HERE.*AK
THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BOUNCES BADLY OVER FREEWAY BUMPS.
I OWN A 2001 K2500 HD SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB PICKUP. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE PASSENGERS SEAT BELT WILL LOCK UP AND NOT RELEASE ITS TENSION UNTIL THE SEATBELT IS RELEASED AND ALLOWED TO FULLY RETRACT, AND THEN REFASTENED. THE SEAT BELT TENSIONING SYSTEM HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. THE DEALER REPORTS THAT THE UNIT IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. HOWEVER I BELIEVE THAT THE DESIGN IS DEFECTIVE IN THAT THE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT LOCK THE PASSENGER IN PLACE UNTIL THE SEATBELT IS RELEASED AND ALLOWED TO FULLY RETRACT, AND THEN REFASTENED. THIS PROBLEM CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE IN THAT IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS WHILE THE PASSENGER IS RESETTING THE SEATBELT, THE PASSENGER IS LIKELY TO BE INJURED. THIS CONDITION ALSO MAKES IT LESS LIKELY FOR THE PASSENGER TO BE WILLING TO WEAR THE SEATBELT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH INVOLVED IN A SIDE COLLISION, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE COLLISION. PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING ACCELERATOR PEDAL WILL START VIBRATING VIOLENTLY. MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW, AND MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING RIGHT PASSENGER'S MIRROR HAS A BLIND SIDE. PASSENGER CAN NOT SEE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
THE PROBLEM IS WHEN COMING TO A STOP (UNDER BRAKING) IF YOU DON'T COME TO A COMPLETE AND TOTAL STOP AND YOU DECIDE TO SWITCH BACK TO THE ACCELERATOR, THE TRUCK FREE REVS FOR ABOUT HALF A SECOND AND THEN DUMPS THE TRANSMISSION IN GEAR. WHILE THIS HAS YET TO CAUSE ME ANY DANGEROUS PROBLEMS, I BELIEVE IT VERY WELL COULD IN THE RAIN OR ICE/SNOW. IF YOU'RE NOT PREPARED FOR IT, SOMETIMES IT HITS HARD ENOUGH THAT FOR A MOMENT YOU'RE SOMEWHAT DISORIENTED, REPRESENTING A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THERE'S OTHER TRAFFIC AROUND. *AK
