TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK WHEN THE DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 141,600 UPDATED 08/16/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON BFORE, DURING OR AFTER THE BRAKE LIGHTS. UPDATED 08/21/12
MY TRUCK HAS EXCESSIVE UNDERCARRIAGE RUST, TO THE POINT OF REDUCED MATERIAL THICKNESS ON THE FRAME AND ALL FRAME MOUNTED COMPONENTS. HAVE EXPERIENCE ONE FUEL LINE FAILURE AND FEAR ADDITIONAL FAILURES OF FUEL AND BRAKE LINES. ALSO ALL SUSPENSION MOUNTING POINTS HAVE LARGE METAL FLAKES COMING OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I PUMPED THE PEDAL SOFTLY, CAME TO A STOP AND PULLED BACK UP TO MY HOUSE WITHOUT INCIDENT. OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS VERY LOW, BUT NO LEAKS AROUND THE MASTER CYLINDER. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE BRAKE LINES { 4 IN A PLASTIC CLAMP ON THE FRAME} WERE ALL WET AND RUSTED. A LINE OR LINES HAD RUPTURED UNDER JUST NORMAL BRAKING AND VERY LUCKILY IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE RUPTURE SEEMS TO BE A LINE INSIDE THE PLASTIC CLAMP MOUNTED TO THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AFTER A STOP LITE PUT MY FOOT ON MY BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR, ALMOST HIT CAR IN FRONT OF ME, STOPPED AND SAW MY REAR DRIVER SIDE LINE LEAKING. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATES AND BUZZES. BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE. VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AND REPAIRED FOR THIS BEFORE, AND NOW IT IS DOING IT AGAIN, SEVERAL YEARS LATER. *TR
HEAD ON COLLISION HIT THE BRAKES AND TRUCK JUMPED. WHEN VEHICLES HIT SEATBELT DIDN'T LOCK RIGHT AWAY WHICH THREW ME FORWARD AND INTO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IT WAS A HEAD ON ACCIDENT AND AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF WHICH MAKE THE EMT'S AND POLICE CONCERNED DO TO THE DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER HE WAS TOLD IT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A SECURITY ISSUE AND THE CAUSE COULD HAVE BEEN A VARIETY OF FAILURES. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 160,000.
TREAD SEPARATION FROM TIRE AND SUBSEQUENT BODY DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THIS VERY SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF TIRE, AND FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, HOWEVER MY TIRE WAS PURCHASED PRIOR TO THE RANGE COVERED BY THE RECALL. BF GOODRICH HAS TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO FOR ME. *TR
I WAS TOWING MY BOAT HOME WITH MY 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD AND AS I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD!! THERE WAS NO WARNING OF A LOSS IN HYDRAULIC PRESSURE AND NO OTHER INDICATIONS OF AN IMMINENT BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. IMMEDIATELY UPON NOTICING THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE I DOWNSHIFTED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO HELP SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO OTHER TRAFFIC AS I ROLLED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITH A 3,000 POUND BOAT/TRAILER LOAD I WAS TOWING. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT HOME BY ALTERING MY ROUTE TO AVOID DOWNSLOPING INTERSECTIONS AND ALSO DOWNSHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO SLOW DOWN AS I APPROACHED THOSE INTERSECTIONS I COULD NOT AVOID. SINCE I DID NOT HAVE A VEHICLE LIFT OR THE PROPER TOOLS/EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THE REPAIRS, I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR FACILITY. THEIR DIAGNOSIS: BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO SIGNIFICANT CORROSION. REPAIR BILL WAS $260 TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE CORRODED BRAKE LINE THAT SUPPLIED THE BRAKES TO THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL! THIS SAME CIRCUMSTANCE OCCURRED AGAIN ON 9/3/12 (I.E., SAME LOSS OF HYDRAULIC PRESSURE (WITHOUT WARNING) & TOTAL BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE)! THE TRUCK IS AGAIN IN THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THE BRAKE LINE TO THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL FAILED DUE TO CORROSION & HE ALSO SAID ALL THE OTHER BRAKE LINES, EXCEPT FOR THE ONE REPLACED ON 6/22/2012, ARE CORRODED "PRETTY BAD." HE ALSO STATED THAT THE DESIGN & LOCATION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEMS ON THESE CHEVROLET & GMC SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCKS IS SUCH THAT CORROSION AND BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE, ESPECIALLY IN OUR REGION (UPPER MICHIGAN) WITH LONG WINTERS AND ROAD SALT. WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT KEY COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM (IN PARTICULAR THE ABS VALVE) ARE NOT EASILY ACCESSIBLE FOR SERVICE, MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR, WHICH ONLY ADDS TO THE COST OF REPAIR. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL!! *TR
ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE STEERING GOT HARD STEERING THE INSTRUMENTAL LITES CAME ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THEN WENT OFF THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, THEN I WAS BACKING UP AND TURNING FAIRLY SHARP TO THE RIGHT WHEN THE MOTOR DIED. I STARTED THE ENGINE BACK UP AND MY STEERING WAS HARD TO STEER. ALSO EVERY TIME I TURNED TO THE RIGHT THE TIRE SOUND LIKE THE TIRE RUB ON SOMETHING BUT I NEVER SEEN ANY RUB MARKS ANY WHERE. I DO THINK THAT IF I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION. I HAVE CHECKED AND SEEN WHERE ALOT OF 2001 CHEVY SUBURBANS HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CHEVY SHOULD DEFINETLY RECALL AND CHECK NO MATTER HOW MANY MILES. *TT
HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK. ALL THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND NEED REPLACED....REALLY. GM YOU NEED TO STEP UP AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEBODY REALLY GETS HURT. *TR
WAS TOWING A 4200 LB LOAD WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. NO WARNING LIGHT. PULLED SAFELY OFF OF THE HIGHWAY (BARELY!) AND INTO OCEAN PERFORMANCE MARINE - AT THE END OF THE I-95 OFFRAMP. LEFT THE BOAT THERE AND HAD THE SILVERADO TOWED. A BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AND WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID BADLY. STILL NO WARNING LIGHT. *TR
STARTED TRUCK, WENT TO PUT IN GEAR AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT CLEAR TO FLOOR. LOOKED UNDER TRUCK AND HAD A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID APPROXIMATELY UNDER THE FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR. UPON INSPECTION, THE LINE THAT WENT FROM THE ABS MODULE UP TO THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE HAD RUPTURED (SMALL PIN HOLE). ALL THE BRAKE LINES ON THE TRUCK ARE ABOUT RUSTED THROUGH. THIS RUPTURE LEFT ME WITH NO BRAKES ON THE TRUCK. LUCKILY IT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT WHILE PUTTING IN GEAR INSTEAD OF WHILE TRYING TO BRAKE ON THE ROADS. *TR
I WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE AND THERE WAS NO BRAKES ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOT OF STORE .I TOOK TO GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH HUB BEARINGS WERE LOOSE AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED ME TO LOSE ALL MY BRAKES. I HIT A CONCRETE HANDICAP SIGN WAS LUCKY NOT ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHY WOULD GM MAKE A TRUCK THAT WOULD LOSE ITS BRAKES IF A BEARING WAS LOOSE I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE TRUCK THAT THE SAME THING MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN AND MAYBE THE NEXT TIME I WON'T BE SO LUCKY. THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 4 DAYS EARLIER MY ABS LIGHT FLICKERED ON THEN OFF 1 TIME. REMAINED OFF AFTER THAT. *TR
MY 16 YR OLD SON DROVE THRU AN INTERSECTION WITH NO BRAKES. JUST AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. I KNOW 4 OTHER PEOPLE THAT OWN THE SAME KIND OF VEHICAL WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I WILL BE CONTACTING THEM SO THEY CAN ALSO FILL THIS COMPLAINT OUT. DO PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE TO GET THIS MESS FIXED UP ?????????? *TR
TRAVELING AT 65 MPH BRAKES ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED W/O APPLYING THEM LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL ETC. EVALUATING THIS PROBLEM II SAW THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS GOING DOWN TO THE FLOOR, SO I PULLED UP ON IT WITH MY FOOT AND THE BRAKES RELEASED BUT STEERING CONTROL DID NOT RESUME. I GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND VERY SLOWLY MADE MY WAY ON HOME. ANY APPLICATION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL RESULTED IN BRAKES LOCKING UP AND THEY WERE APPLIED SO TIGHTLY THAT ANY ACCELERATION COULD NOT SPEED UP UNLESS I PULLED UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. UPON ARRIVING HOME LOOKED THINGS OVER NO POWER STEERING UNLESS MOTOR WAS AT HIGH RPM,POWER STEERING PUMP LOOKED AS IF IT EXPELLED FLUID OUT THE BREATHER CAP AND THE BRAKES SMELLED AS IF VERY HOT. NOW THAT THIS HAPPENED I RECOGNIZED THIS HAD HAPPENED BEFORE BUT SOMEHOW REPAIRED ITSELF,BUT NOT TO THIS EXTREME. I SUFFERED BRUISES FROM SHOULDER HARNESS AND SEATBELT AND SOME KNOTS ON MY HEAD FROM BEING THROWN AROUND I CAME SO CLOSE TO OUT OF CONTROL AND A ROLLOVER SIMPLY COULDN'T CONTROL MY TRUCK. *TR
MY TRUCK WAS PARKED ON A HILL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DIDNT HOLD I HAD A TRAILER ON THE BACK AND IT CAUSED THE TRAILER TO JACKNIFE AND DAMAGED MY BED. *TR
I TOOK MY TRUCK FROM HOME IN CT INTO NYC FOR A FOLLOW UP DOCTOR APPT. AND THE LINES BLEW OUT ON THE WAY IN AND WE STILL HAD TO GET BACK TO CT WITH BRAKE FAILURE; HAD TO STOP 3X FOR BRAKE FLUID, NOT FUN LUCKY I MADE IT HOME ALIVE. I CANNOT BELIEVE GM HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PROBLEM. GM SHOULD MAKE THIS A PRIORITY AND PUT LIVES AHEAD OF PROFITS. I HAD BRAKE REPLACEMENT EXPENSES OF OVER $1300.00. I HAVE OWNED MORE THAN 8 TRUCKS (ABOUT 5 GM TRUCKS AND 3 CHEVY SUVS FROM 1980 TO NOW WITH MY CURRENT 2001 SILVERADO. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS VEHICLE (SILVERADO), NEVER HAD A PROBLEM THE LINES RUSTING OUT. *TR
BRAKES WERE STAYING APPLIED AFTER BRAKING. SMELL OF BURNING BRAKES. BRAKES AND ROTORS WORN DOWN AND BRAKING DISTANCE WAS AFFECTED. BRAKE HOSES WERE FAILING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS. EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS WORN DOWN ALSO. REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD BEEN REPLACED 7 MONTHS EARLIER. *TR
WENT TO STOP AND BRAKE LINE BLEW. ALL BRAKE LINES, FUEL LINES AND UNDERCARRIAGE ROTTED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED BUT WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE. THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED REPEATEDLY AND THEN THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME IN OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK); HOWEVER THE REMEDY DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY WIFE WAS ON AN ERRAND AND WHEN SHE GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO COME HOME THE BRAKE PEDDLE WAS SOFT AND WENT TO THE FLOOR BEFORE SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP. SHE WAS SCARED AND TESTED THE BRAKES AND FOUND THERE WAS SOME SO CAME HOME SLOWLY WITH A PLAN IN HER MIND TO HIT SOMETHING OTHER THAN ANOTHER CAR IN THE CASE THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE ROAD THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A CRASH. *TR
THE BRAKES WENT OUT - NOT TOTALLY OUT I BUT HAD TO PUSH THE BREAKS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE CAR TO SLOWLY STOP. I HAD VERY LITTLE STOPPING POWER. SHORTLY THEREAFTER (3- 4 MINUTES LATER ) THE INSTRUMENT BREAK WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. HAD I BEEN GOING ANY FASTER I WOULD HAVE SURELY BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALER. THEY DISCOVERED A LEAKING BREAK LINE. THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS A RESULT OF EXCESSSIVE RUST IN THE BREAK LINE. THE WARNING LIGHT SHOULD HAVE COME ON MUCH SOONER AND THE BREAK LINE SHOULD NOT HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. $3,000 LATER, IT WAS FIXED. *JS
WAS DRIVING HOME IN MY OCCASIONAL-USE 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO. BRAKES BECAME VERY SOFT, SO I DROVE EXTREMELY SLOW. FINALLY LOST BRAKES COMPLETELY UPON PULLING BACK INTO HOME DRIVEWAY. HYDRAULIC FLUID LEAK WAS EVIDENT AT A RUSTED-THROUGH BRAKE LINE, BETWEEN BRAKE DISTRIBUTION MODULE AND REAR AXLE. ENTIRE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM NEEDS IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT. THE AMOUNT OF CORROSION THAT HAS APPEARED ON THE BRAKE LINES IS ACTUALLY PRETTY FRIGHTENING. IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE ENTIRE FAMILIES ARE DRIVING AROUND NY AND NEW ENGLAND WITH THESE RUSTED OUT BRAKE SYSTEMS. BOUGHT THE TRUCK AS A USED VEHICLE IN 2009, AND THE UNDER-FRAME LOOKED ACCEPTABLE AT THE TIME. A WARM ADIRONDACK WINTER SEEMS TO HAVE LEFT US WITH A LOT OF SALTWATER ON THE ROADS, WHICH SEEMED TO CAUSE WORSE THAN NORMAL CORROSION. I CAN UNDERSTAND AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD NEW ENGLAND TRUCK BEING RUSTY - BUT THE BRAKE LINES SHOULD NEVER CORRODE - AND YET, THE BRAKE LINES SEEM TO BE THE RUSTIEST PART ON THIS GM TRUCK. THERE NEEDS TO BE HIGHER STANDARDS FOR BRAKE LINES. CHEAP, UNCOATED STEEL IS UNACCEPTABLE WITH MODERN, SAFE ENGINEERING STANDARDS. *TR
4 BOLTS ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SHEARED ( BROKEN). *TR
I WAS HIT HEAD ON IN MY 2001 CHEVY DUAL WHEEL TRUCK, BOTH VEHICLES WERE TRAVELING APPROX 40/50MPH, MY TRUCK SHUT OFF ON IMPACT. MY AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS DID NOT WORK. I HAD A NECK INJURY AND NEED AN OPERATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN THE BRAKE LINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 81,220.
BRAKES FAILURES , RUSTED BRAKE LINES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON US ROUTE 15 THE TRANSMISSION LET LOOSE. DOING 55MPH AND LOST DRIVE AND 3RD GEARS. FLUID AND PARTS WERE SPREAD ALL BEHIND MY TRUCK CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THIS TRUCK HAS SEVERAL EXHAUST HEADER BOLTS THAT ARE BREAKING OFF. THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND SHOULD BE A RECALL TO REPLACE THE EXHAUST HEADER BOLTS THEY SHOULD NOT BE BREAKING OFF AND THEY ARE CAUSING EMISSION ERRORS AND NEEDING MAJOR REPAIRS. *JS
I WAS DRIVING TO ALABAMA FROM FLORIDA. WHEN I WAS ABOUT THREE HOURS OUT I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD HAULING A LOT OF PERSONAL ITEMS SINCE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF MOVING. IT STARTED STORMING REAL BAD SO I SLOWED DOWN TO 60 MPH AND AS I WAS APPROACHING ANOTHER VEHICLE THEY ALL THE SUDDEN SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. I SAW THEM AS SOON AS THEY DID IT THEN I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. I ALMOST HIT THEM BUT I TURNED SHARP AND WENT INTO THE WOODS. I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING BUT SMALL TREES SO VERY LITTLE DAMAGE TO OUTSIDE OF TRUCK. DAMAGE IS STILL THEIR BECAUSE SINCE THE WRECK I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO WORK CAUSE I DESTROYED MY BACK AND NECK. AFTER THAT I STILL HAD TO DRIVE THE TRUCK THE REST OF THE THREE HOUR TRIP THAT ENDED UP TAKING NINE HOURS OF EXTREME PAIN AND SHOT NERVES. ONCE I FINALLY GOT HOME IT TOOK FOREVER AND A LOT OF MONEY TO HALF WAY FIX THE TRUCK. SINCE YOU CAN'T GET REPLACEMENT LINES AND HAD TO HAVE THEM CUSTOM MADE. TRUCK IS STILL CRAP BECAUSE NOW EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS SHOT ALONG WITH THE BODY AND UNDERCARRIAGE. IT IS SOLID RUST NOW AND KEEPS BRAKING DOWN AND WILL COST AROUND THREE TO FIVE THOUSAND AT THE CHEAPEST TO FIX. IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT I DO NOW THEN I WOULD HAVE SUED CHEVY AND THIS WORTHLESS ORGANIZATION CAUSE YALL HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME AND DID NOTHING. I THINK YALL AND CHEVY OWE ME AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE A LOT OF MONEY. IF YOU STILL DO NOTHING I WILL GO TO EVERY NEWS ORGANIZATION OR ANY OTHER COMPANY OR LAWYER THAT WILL GO AFTER YOUR COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,800.

THE MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE VEHICLE ON THE LIFT BUT AND AS THE LIFT BEGAN TO RISE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO CRACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 211,409.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HWY AND MY BRAKES WENT COMPLETELY OUT. NO WARNING LIGHT THAT IS A LIE AND SO IS THE STATEMENT ABOUT IT SLOWLY COMING TO A STOP. LUCKILY I WAS GOING UP A HILL SO IT CAME TO A STOP THEN STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC AND I HAD TO GO OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A POLE AND BROKE MY TAILGATE OFF CAUSE THE TAILGATE PINS WERE RUSTED TO AND I LIVE IN ALABAMA. NO SALT ANYWHERE. THANKS CHEVY, NOW I CAN'T EVEN FIX THE TRUCK BECAUSE ITS GOING TO COST ME 1,000 DOLLARS. *TR

THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT DUE TO RUST. THIS HAPPENED WITH THE TRUCK UNLOADED AND IN MY DRIVEWAY. I SIMPLY PRESSED THE BREAK PEDDLE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE. ALL OF THE LINES ARE EXTREMELY CORRODED. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING OFF LEAVING STUDS IN THE HEADS GM IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THIS ISSUE. THIS IS CAUSING CO RELEASE, HIGH HEAT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, NOISE, AND AN EXPENSE THAT I SHOULD NOT PAY FOR. SOME STATES ARE NOT ACCEPTING THESE VEHICLES NOW FOR NOT MEETING THE EMISSION STANDARDS PLEASE LOOK IN TO THIS. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
THE 1ST INCIDENT THIS YEAR HAPPENED IN MARCH 2012. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A HILL AT 25 MPH I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING THE TRUCK TO A STOP ON THE LEVEL AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. THANK GOD THERE WAS NOT ANY ONE CROSSING THE STREET OR ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE MECHANIC SAID THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED FROM THE METAL LINE BEING CORRODED. COST $300.00 + TOWING. COST TO REPLACE ALL LINES IS OVER A $1,000.00. CANNOT AFFORD NEW TRUCK OR THAT TYPE OF EXPENDITURE AT THIS TIME. THE 2ND INCIDENT HAPPENED TODAY, MAY 2012. WHILE TRAVELING ON A LEVEL HIGHWAY AT 35 MPH A CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME FROM A GAS STATION AND I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD. I FELT A PULSE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR I WENT UP OVER A VERY HIGH CURB, OVER A WALKWAY AND THROUGH A PARKING LOT. I JAMMED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING IT TO A STOP. LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND THE FRAME IS COVERED WITH BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. ANOTHER GUY STOPPED TO SEE IF I WAS O.K.. I HAD HIM PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK. YOU COULD SEE THE FLUID SQUIRTING OUT OF 2 CORRODED, RUPTURED BRAKE LINES. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH METAL CORROSION ON THIS TRUCK SINCE DAY ONE. THE REAR BUMPER HAD EXTENSIVE RUST IN 3 YEARS. WENT TO DEALER, GOT THE RUN AROUND. I REPLACED ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS WITH LESS THAN 35,000 AND THE PADS WERE MAINTAINED DURING THIS TIME. WENT TO DEALER, DEALER SAID THAT WAS NORMAL WEAR FOR A ROTOR. GIVE ME A BRK. IT SOUNDS LIKE BAD METAL WAS USED THROUGHOUT THIS TRUCK. *TR
WHILE IN MOTION, A COMPONENT IN THE DIFFERENTIAL FAILED, CREATING AN INTERFERENCE CONDITION LOCKING UP MY REAR END. LUCKILY I WAS NOT TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND WAS JUST AROUND TOWN, TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30 MPH. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF PARTS FAILING. THERE WAS AMPLE GEAR OIL IN THE REAR END, AND MAINTENANCE WAS NOT A FACTOR AS I DID A GEAR OIL CHANGE THIS PAST SUMMER. I SELDOM USE THIS VEHICLE TO TOW AND IT HAS NEVER SEEN A PLOW OR OVERLY ROUGH DRIVING CONDITIONS. *KB
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN MARCH OF 2011 AND SINCE HAVE NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF RUST ON ALL THE BRAKE LINES GOING AND COMING FROM THE ABS MODULE UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRAME RAIL. I HAVE READ MANY CASES OF OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THEIR LINES BURST IN AS LITTLE AS 2 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OPERATION OF MY TRUCK WITH THE BRAKE LINES CORRODED TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY ARE AND HOPE THAT GENERAL MOTORS WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THIS SAFETY HAZARD. RUSTING FUEL LINE CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT FUEL LEAK IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE FUEL TANK, WHILE REPAIRING THAT LINE I OBSERVED SEVERAL OTHER RUSTING LINES IN THAT AREA BRAKE, AND MORE FUEL LINES. *TR
WHILE PULLING INTO MY PARKING AREA AND BRAKING, THE BREAK PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. A HISSING SOUND WAS HEARD WHILE THE PEDAL WAS BEING PUSHED. UPON INSPECTION A BREAK IN THE BRAKELINE UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE CAB WAS IDENTIFIED AT THE HANGER. BASED UPON VISUAL INSPECTION THEIR APPEARS TO BE CORROSION AROUND THE BREAK IN THE LINE. *TR
BRAKES FAILED DUE TO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID CAUSED BY RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINE FROM ABS UNIT. *TR
I NOTICED MY BRAKES STARTING TO FEEL SOFT AFTER A PANIC STOP AND A LEAK UNDER MY TRUCK. THE LEAK WAS TRACED TO THE BRAKE LINES UNDER THE TRUCK CAB LEADING TO THE ANTILOCK BRAKE VALVE. ROOT CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS EXTENSIVE CORROSION TO THE BRAKE LINES. ALL BRAKE LINES WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS TRUCK. *TR
I WAS DESCENDING A DRIVEWAY AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED DUE TO BRAKE LINE CORROSION. THE REAR LINE IS RUSTED THROUGH. UPON INSPECTION OF THE OTHER LINES I FOUND THEY ARE ALSO CORRODED. I WAS LUCKY TO BE WHERE I WAS IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE 6 BROKEN BOLTS CAUSING A GREAT DEAL OF EMISSIONS CONTROL. I HAVE SPOKE WITH MANY CHEVY OWNERS AND THEY ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS MALFUNCTION ALLOWING EXHAUST GASES TO ENTER CAB OF VEHICLE. THIS ALSO CAN CAUSE WRONG READINGS TO THE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM ( OXYGEN SENSOR ) TO RICHEN THE GAS MIXER TO ENGINE CAUSING EMISSION PROBLEMS. REASON FOR COMPLIANT, AFTER CHECKING INTERNET SITES. I FOUND OUT THIS IS A TO COMMON OF A PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET ( GM ) V8 ENGINES. THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO, KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM EVERY WELL. THEY GET SEVERAL OF THIS TYPE OF REPAIRS MONTHLY. THEY REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, RE-SURFACE, REMOVE BROKEN BOLTS AND REASSEMBLE USING ALL NEW BOLTS AND GASKET. $350. FYI. *TR
