I WANT TO REGISTER A SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH REGARD TO THE OEM BRAKE PADS THAT WERE INSTALLED BY AN INDEPENDENT SHOP ON MY 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO HD 2500. THE PADS WERE PURCHASED BY THE SHOP (LEVINE'S GARAGE) IN NEW WINDSOR NY FROM BARTON BIRKS CHEVY IN NEWBURGH NY AND INSTALLED ON MY TRUCK IN FEB 2009 IN ADDITION TO NEW ROTORS. I RECENTLY SMELLED BRAKE BURNING AND DISASSEMBLED THE BRAKES TO DISCOVER THE PADS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WERE PITTED AND SCORED. THE ROTORS SHOWED NO DAMAGE. I REPLACED THE PADS AND RETURNED THE DAMAGED PADS TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD A ONE YEAR WARRANTY AND IT WAS PASSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD. THE PADS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ARE FINE. BOTH SETS OF PADS HAVE ABOUT 90% MATERIAL STILL ON THEM. I BELIEVE THESE PADS ARE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD LIKE YOUR INTERVENTION.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HAVING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON HIS VEHICLE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINE WERE COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED HIM THAT ALL OF THE LINES UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE SEVERE CORROSION. HE WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS INSPECTED FOR FEAR OF THE PARTS ON THE VEHICLE BECOMING DETACHED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 87,700.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE DIED. IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE DIED TWO OR THREE MORE TIMES. RESTARTED AND RAN TROUBLE FREE FOR A FEW DAYS. A WEEK OR TWO LATER IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START THE ENGINE. IT FINALLY STARTED AND RAN TROUBLE FREE FOR A WEEK OR SO. THIS CYCLE HAS REPEATED OVER THE PAST MONTH OR SO. I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE ON YOUR WEB SIGHT AND NOTED A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. *TR
THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR IS FAILING AND THERE WAS A RECALL # 07V521000 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR BY CHEVROLET AND NOW WITH ONLY 64,000 MI THEY DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE.
BRAKE FAILURE. I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY 2500HD (ORIGINAL OWNER). I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY. BRAKE LINE BURST NEAR THE GAS TANK DUE TO CORROSION. HAD THAT AREA OF THE LINES REPAIRED ONLY TO HAVE ANOTHER BURST IN THE BRAKE LINE IN DIFFERENT PART OF THE LINES (JUST BEHIND FRONT WELL WELL) JUST TWO DAYS LATER. THIS IS A VEHICLE DESIGNED FOR TOWING. I WAS TOWING A LARGE, HEAVY BOAT AT THE TIME. I WAS LUCKY THAT I STILL HAD FRONT BRAKES AND A TRAILER WITH BRAKES. THE AUTO REPAIR PLACE TOLD ME THEY ARE SEEING THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE THE SPARE TIRE WOULD NOT LOWER FROM THE CABLE SYSTEM. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE THE TIRE DUE TO THE CABLE SYSTEM FOR THE SPARE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO PURCHASE A USED TIRE TO CHANGE THE FLAT TIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN ORDER TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE SPARE TIRE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000. UPDATED 1/13/2012 *LN *TR
TRANSMISSION LOST 1ST AND REVERSE. SPOKE WITH TRANSMISSION MECHANIC AND LEARNED THAT THE GM 4L60E USES "PRESSED POWDERED METAL" TO MANUFACTURE THE SUNSHELL IN THE 4L60E. LEARNED THAT MECHANICS REFER TO THE 4L60E TRANSMISSION AS A "140 THOUSAND TO 160 THOUSAND MILE PART" REQUIRING A VERY EXPENSE REBUILD OR REPLACE. ALSO LEARNED THAT AFTERMARKET SUNSHELLS ARE AVAILABLE IN CASE HARDENED STEEL FOR ABOUT $50.00 USD. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 35 MPH WHEN HE HAD TO ABRUPTLY APPLY THE BRAKES TO AVOID CRASHING INTO A VEHICLE THAT DROVE INTO HIS LANE. THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE ABS UNIT AND FROM THE ABS UNIT TO THE FRONT BRAKES WERE CORRODED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
HYDRAULIC BRAKE FAILURE. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER:PEO5020 WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS WAS LIKELY THE "WHEEL SPEED SENSOR" AND REQUIRED A COMPLETE WHEEL BEARING REPLACEMENT AS THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THE "WHEEL SPEED SENSOR" COULD BE REPLACED. I BECAME SUSPICIOUS AFTER LOOKING AT THE "SERVICE ADVISORS" WRIT-UP WHICH WAS NOTHING LIKE I HAD DESCRIBED TO HIM OR THE MECHANIC AND NOTHING LIKE THEY HAD TOLD ME THE REPAIR WAS. WHEN CONFRONTING THE "SERVICE ADVISOR" ABOUT THE WAY IT WAS WRITTEN UP, HIS RESPONSE WAS "THIS WAS MY WAY OF WRITING IT UP". AFTER LOOKING UP THE NHTSA INFORMATION WHICH I PRINTED OUT, IT APPEARS THE MANUFACTURER WAS TO PAY FOR THE COMPLETE REPAIR. I WAS CHARGED BY THE DEALER FOR THE COMPLETE REPAIR. AFTER GETTING HOME I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR RECALLS AND HERE I AM - LOOKING FOR HELP IN THIS FRAUD BY THE DEALER. I AM NOW SUSPICIOUS THAT THEY MIGHT BE DOUBLE CHARGING - IE: CHARGE THE CUSTOMER AND ALSO CHARGE GM? ANOTHER REPAIR I HAD COMPLETED AT THE SAME TIME WAS A DEFECTIVE PARKING BRAKE - TOTAL FAILURE. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EAO4011 WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER MECHANIC THE LININGS WEAR EVEN WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT APPLIED. REQUIRED LININGS AND OTHER PART REPLACEMENT FOR WHICH I WAS ALSO CHARGED. IN THE RECALL VEHICLES I DID NOT SEE MY VEHICLE HOWEVER THE MECHANIC DESCRIBED THE CONDITION JUST AS THE RECALL NOTICE DESCRIBED IT SO I'M THINKING THIS VEHICLE MIGHT ALSO BE INCLUDED? THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED A BRAKE FLUSH - WHICH I HAD DONE AND NOW AM THINKING THIS MIGHT HAVE BEEN REQUIRED WHEN THE RECALL WORK WAS COMPLETED? I FIRST STARTED NOTICING THE PROBLEM (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PEO5020) WHEN PULLING INTO PARKING SPACES THIS WINTER HOWEVER DISMISSED IT AT FIRST THINKING I MAY HAVE BEEN ON ICE. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO SMASHING INTO A BLOCK WALL ON ONE OCCASION, A FENCE AND PARKING CURB ON OTHERS. THANKS. THANKS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) THAT MAY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
TWO RECALLS ISSUED FOR THE ABOVE VEHICLE FOR THE HYDRAULIC ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM UNWANTED ACTIVATION #05V379000 AND EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM #05V161000. WE HAVE BOTH ISSUES OCCURRED ON VEHICLE. PHONED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND TOLD VIN # WAS NOT ON LIST SO WE HAD TO JUST DEAL WITH IT. THE NHTSA NATIONAL RECALL STATES TO PHONE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY IF ISSUE OCCURS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WE FEEL CHEVROLET SHOULD CORRECT AT NO COST TO US DUE TO CHEVY FAILURE.
SPEED WHEEL SENSOR FAILURE, GM DO NOT WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY RECALL, THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER, AND TOLD ME BECAUSE I WAS THE SECOND OWNER WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES YET THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. HE LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND REPLACED SEVERAL OF THE BRAKE LINES. HE WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR ALL LINES BECAUSE IT WOULD REQUIRE HIM TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE BED OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,720 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 05/04/11 *BF

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,400. DRIVING APPROX 35 MPH BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, PEDAL WAS SPONGY AND NO REAL BRAKING POWER. FOUND BRAKE LINES RUSTED THRU AND OTHER SIGNS OF CORROSION UNDER BODY. REPLACE TWO LINES. ON OCTOBER 24, 2012 TRUCK LOST BRAKING POWER AGAIN. FOUND MORE RUSTED OUT LINES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE EIGHT TO TEN TIMES OVER A COURSE OF TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED HE REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. VEHICLE STALLING INTERMITTENTLY AT ALL SPEEDS. SOMETIMES LESS THAN 40 MPH, SOMETIMES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 65 MPH. RESTARTS AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. EACH TIME IT STALLS THE TIME BEFORE IT RESTARTS INCREASES. *TR
THE BRAKES FAILED IN TRAFFIC APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. A SEVERE COLLISION WAS NARROWLY AVOIDED. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT A BRAKE LINE BETWEEN THE ABS CONTROLLER AND THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING A SUDDEN RUPTURE AND BRAKE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, ALL BRAKE LINES WERE FOUND TO BE SEVERELY RUSTED FROM END TO END. *TR
AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN IN MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500, I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL ONLY TO HAVE IT GO ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT GOING FAST, AND THERE WAS ENOUGH PRESSURE REMAINING IN THE BRAKE LINE TO SLOW ME DOWN (HAD I BEEN GOING FASTER THAN 5 MPH, I DON'T KNOW THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CASE). AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE DEALER, THE INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH; THIS CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE HAD ITS MOST RECENT MAINTENANCE DONE LESS THAN A MONTH AND 20 MILES PRIOR AND NO ISSUES WERE FOUND. I FOLLOWED UP WITH FURTHER REVIEW OF MY OWN ON THE INTERNET TO FIND THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IN THE RUST BELT STATES WHERE SALT IS USED EACH WINTER. I AM GLAD THAT I WAS ABLE TO STOP, AND AM GRATEFUL THAT I WAS NOT ON A BUSY ROAD GOING AT A HIGHER SPEED. I CANNOT IMAGINE WHY SUCH A VITAL PIECE OF EQUIPMENT ON ANY VEHICLE WOULD BE MADE OF A MATERIAL THAT COULD NOT WITHSTAND THE ELEMENTS BETTER. IN ADDITION, I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT SUCH A FLAW WOULD HAVE PROMPTED A SAFETY RECALL BEFORE ANYONE DOES GET HURT. *TR
FAILURE OF BRAKES ON 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD. RUPTURED HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE TO REAR LEFT. LOTS OF RUST ON LINE THAT IS VISIBLE. COST OF REPAIR 300.00 PLUS. *TR
IN MY 2001 CHEVY SILVER AUTO, EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN I AM EXPERIENCING UNWANTED ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM APPLICATION. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I STOP AND HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS ONLY. I HAVE FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS SAME ISSUE ( NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 05V379000). THIS HOWEVER DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE BUT IT NEEDS TO !! *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL(SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, ETC.) IS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. I'VE READ A TON FORUMS THAT MANY OWNERS ARE HAVING OR WERE(SINCE PAID OUT-OF-POCKET) HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. GM/CHEVROLET HAS REPORTED THAT THE COST FOR REPAIR IS $500. LET ME ALSO ADD, THIS PROBLEM ISN'T IN JUST MY PARTICULAR MODEL AND YEAR, BUT NEWER MODELS AS WELL. THIS IS HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM BEING THE OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE DOESN'T KNOW THE SPEED OF HIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE CONTACT DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT ALL BRAKE LINES WOULD NED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT WITH THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
METAL BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO CORROSION WITH MASSIVE LOSS OF FLUID. EXPERIENCED LOSS OF BRAKES AT LOW SPEED, AND USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. HAD LINE REPLACED. IN AUGUST 2012 I EXPERIENCE A SECOND FAILURE, AGAIN DUE TO METAL BRAKE LINE CORROSION BUT ON DIFFERENT LINE, AGAIN WITH MASSIVE LOSS OF FLUID AND LOSS OF BRAKES, LUCKILY AT LOW SPEED AGAIN. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEED OR WITH A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS PROPERTY DAMAGE AND INJURY OR FATALITY. THIS TRUCK IS LOCATED IN VA AND OTHER THAN THE BRAKE LINES HAS LITTLE UNDERSIDE CORROSION. I AM HAVING TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES AT HIGH COST TO ENSURE SAFETY. THESE BRAKE LINE FAILURES ARE NOTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET ON LATE 90'S TO EARLY 2000'S CHEVY TRUCKS- THEY SEEM TO BE VERY COMMON. I HAVE VEHICLES THAT ARE DECADES OLD AND HAVE THEIR ORIGINAL BRAKE LINES. I SUSPECT DEFECTIVE BRAKE LINE MATERIALS ON THE TRUCK. *TR
LOSS OF BRAKES DUE TO BRAKE LINE CORROSION, RUST OUT. A DEER RAN INTO THE HIGHWAY, HIT BRAKES TO STOP AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. HIT DEER AND DID MAJOR DAMAGE TO FRONT OF TRUCK. AFTER INSPECTION, ALL BRAKE LINES NEED REPLACED. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS CAN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT, INJURY OR EVEN DEATH. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH AND DECELERATING, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD CAUSING AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 EQUIPPED WITH A DORMAN EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. WHILE OPENING THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR THE CONTACT'S HAND WAS CUT ON THE DOOR HANDLE AS IT DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE DOOR HANDLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS RECALLED ONCE AND REPAIRED ONLY TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM OCCUR A YEAR LATER. CHEVROLET REFUSES TO RESOLVE THIS CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE AT NO COST SINCE IT WAS ALREADY REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. AM I TO HAVE NO BRAKES UNLESS I PAY A DEALER TO FIX THIS EVERY YEAR? HOW IS THIS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE? *TR
I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS, EVEN ON DRY ROADS, AND CAUSES LOSS OF BRAKES. THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT IN MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO IS TOTALLY INACCURATE. ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN 2005 THE FUEL GAUGE BECAME SPORADIC, RANDOMLY GOING TO EMPTY THEN BACK TO FULL AND EVERY WHERE IN BETWEEN. THIS WOULD MOSTLY HAPPEN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS LOWER ON FUEL. AS THE NEXT COUPLE YEARS PASTED BY IT GOT WORSE AND WORSE. FINALLY IN 2009 I REPLACED THE UNIT AND FUEL PUMP. THE KIT INCLUDED AND NEW CONNECTOR FOR THE WIRING HARNESS, SO I WAS HOPEFUL THIS WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. WELL AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OR LESS I STARTED HAVING ISSUES AGAIN. THIS TIME THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT RANDOMLY GO ALL THE WAY TO EMPTY OR FULL RANDOMLY, BUT ONCE IT GETS PAST 3/4 OF A TANK IT CANNOT BE TRUSTED ANYMORE. ESPECIALLY ONCE YOU GET PAST THE 1/4 OF A TANK IT LOOSES ALL ACCURACY. ALLOT OF TIMES IT WHEN I START THE TRUCK IT WILL BE AT 1/8 OF A TANK BUT AS I START DRIVING IT WILL GO UP TO A 1/4 OF A TANK. OR VISA VERSA. I LIVE IN A FLAT PART OF THE COUNTRY AND THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HILLS. LAST TIME I FILLED UP IT SAID I HAD A LITTLE LESS THEN A 1/8 OF A TANK (ABOUT 3 GALLONS, 26 GALLON TANK) AND WHEN I FILLED IT UP I PUT ALMOST 26 GALLONS IN. I OWN A 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 4WD. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAVE GARAGED THE VEHICLE FROM THE BEGINNING. TODAY MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE AND IT DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR WITH MINIMAL STOPPING POWER. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME. FORTUNATELY, THIS DIDN'T OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH COULD HAVE HAD A CATASTROPHIC OUTCOME. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS INOPERABLE AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE REPAIR.
