I DRIVE A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500HD. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE REVIEWS. WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT RECENTLY I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO STOP AFTER PULLING OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY, SOME PRESSURE WAS PRESENT BUT AFTER PUMPING MORE, IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY OUT. LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK, I SAW A HUGE PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID. PUTTING MORE BRAKE FLUID IN THE TRUCK DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM , AS IT IS ONLY FORCED OUT UPON PUMPING THE BRAKES - THE FAILURE IS PERMANENT AND CRITICAL - THE TRUCK IS NOT ROAD WORTHY AT THIS POINT! UPON CLOSE INSPECTION IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CHASSIS, THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF BRAKE LINES TO ALL FOUR WHEELS IS RUSTED AND ONE OF THE LINES IS COMPLETELY BROKEN (WITH A HOLE EXPELLING BRAKE FLUID) UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER READS "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" AND A BELL RINGS REPEATEDLY TO WARN OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE YET AS I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THESE RUSTED BRAKE LINES. I HAVE NEVER SEEN BRAKE LINES ON ANY VEHICLE RUSTED LIKE THIS BEFORE AND I HAVE TO BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PARTS PROBLEM. I INTEND TO CONTACT MY DEALERSHIP WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
TRAVELING ON MAIN ROAD, HAD TO STOP QUICK TO AVOID VEHICLE IN FRONT MAKING SUDDEN STOP, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO RIGHT OF STATED VEHICLE TO AVOID CONTACT. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, OBSERVED FLUID DRIPPING FROM BENEATH TRUCK BY DRIVER'S DOOR. BRAKE LINE CLUSTER ATTACHED TO FRAME RUSTED THROUGH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE TUBING RUPTURED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AS A RESULT OF EXCESSIVE RUST. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, A SECOND BRAKE LINE RUPTURED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE YET THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
BRAKES FAILED DUE TO RUPTURED BRAKE LINES ON MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WHILE DRIVING. CHEVROLET DEALER INFORMS METAL BRAKE TUBING HAS CORRODED AND RUPTURED CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. TRUCK HAS 32,000 MILES. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED WHEN BRAKES FAILED. COST TO REPLACE BRAKE LINES, $ 1633.00. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MOSTLY PARKED INSIDE A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE AND AWAY FROM THE ELEMENTS AND BELIEVED THE BRAKE LINES SHOULD NOT HAVE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A BRAKE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO. I'VE STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ELECTRONIC DASH. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO IT SOMETIMES CAME ON THEN OFF, BUT NOW IT JUST STAYS OFF. NOTHING SHOWS UP. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, HOW FAST I AM GOING, HOW MANY MILES ON THE TRUCK ETC... NOW I AM TOLD THAT IT HAPPENS A LOT WITH CHEVY'S. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT FIXED IS TO BRING IT IN AND TAKEN APART THEN HAS TO GET SENT OUT SO THEN CAN COMPUTERIZE IT TO THAT TRUCK. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY, AND THAT WILL TAKE BETWEEN A WEEK OR TWO. CRAZY!!!! NOW I HAVE TO RENT A CAR IN THE MEAN TIME. CHEVY NEEDS TO PAY FOR THIS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS HE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKES TO SHIFT TO PARK, THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND AFTER INSPECTION, THEY ADVISED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. BRAKE FAILURE,RUSTED CORRODED LINE IN BRAKE LINE ABOVE GAS TANK LED TO A LEAK,CAUSING BRAKES TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING. NO WARNING LIGHT. STEERED AWAY TO AVOID CRASH. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. REPAIRED AT GM DEALERSHIP ALL BRAKE LINES REPLACED. *TR

BRAKE LINES CORRODE EASILY WHICH LEADS TO LEAKING AND LOSS OF BRAKES UNDER NORMAL DRIVING SITUATIONS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE HAD TO REPLACE A SECTION OF BRAKE LINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT WAS OPERATING A STATE OF MARYLAND FLEET 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K1500 VEHICLE . WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 20 MPH, THE BRAKE WERE APPLIED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL INITIALLY HAD BRAKING AND THE DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITH ZERO BRAKING. THE VEHICLE ROLLED THROUGH A RED LIGHT AND A HARD RIGHT TURN WAS MADE TO AVOID A COLLISION AND DRIFTED TO A STOP USING LOW GEAR. AFTER STOPPING THE BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE FULL. BRAKE FLUID WAS OBSERVED DRIPPING UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 145,000. UPDATED 03/23/11 *BF UPDATED 07/11/11

WIPERS STARTED MALFUNCTIONING AND WOULD NOT CHANGE SPEED. SOON AFTER, THEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF AT ALL. I HAD TO PULL THE FUSE TO STOP THEM, AND HAVE HAD TO STOP AND REPLACE THE FUSE IN THE RAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONTAL AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED WITHIN THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BRAKE LINE CORROSION / FAILURE. BRAKE ROTOR CORROSION / FAILURE. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS CONTINUED TO FAIL. CALLED LOCAL CHEVY DEALER, BECAUSE TRUCK IS OVER THE MILEAGE IT IS NO LONGER COVERED BY RECALL THAT I WAS NOT INFORMED OF. FIRST OIL PRESSURE GAUGE QUIT THEN SPEEDOMETER FAILED. CHEVY HAS KNOWN OF THE PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
PURCHASED A USED 2003 SILVERADO, 120,000KM. ENCODER MOTOR ON TRANSFER CASE (4X4) FAILED. WAS TOWED AND PART REPLACED. COST $900.00.ENCODER OFF MY TRUCK WAS CORRODED AND SEIZED. VERY POORLY BUILT. THIS IS APPARENTLY A PART COMMON TO MOST 4X4 GM TRUCKS. THIS MUST BE A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR THE INDUSTRY AND CONSUMERS. *TR

AUGUST 2007 PURCHASED 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 41,000 MILES FOUND OUT AFTER PURCHASE MANIFOLD BOLTS ON DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WERE BROKE. TOOK VEHICLE INTO CHEVROLET DEALER HAD LEFT SIDE MANIFOLD REPLACED AND BOUGHT UP GRADE BOLTS FROM GM. AS OF FEBRUARY 2, 2011 MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BREAKING AGAIN CAUSING MANIFOLD LEAK WHICH IS A VIOLATION OF EMISSIONS AND ALSO CAN CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T ADDRESSED THAT GM HAS FAULTY MANIFOLDS SOMEONE MAY END UP SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE TRUCK NOW HAS 72,000 MILES ON IT DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED OF THE SECOND PROBLEM AND NO HELP WAS GIVEN.
BRAKE LINES RUST THROUGH WITH NO ADVANCE WARNING. IN MY CASE IT WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE THE TRUCK WAS LOADED WITH APPROX. 1000 LBS OF MATERIAL. FORTUNATELY IT WAS JUST THE REAR LINES SO I STILL HAD FRONT BRAKES TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN RESEARCHING THIS EVENT I FOUND CASES THAT THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES RUSTED THROUGH AT THE SAME TIME. DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT THESE TRUCKS CAN HAUL OR TOW I BELIEVE THE CHANCES OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ARE GREAT ENOUGH TO WARRANT NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THIS FARTHER. *TR
2003 CHEVY 2500HD TRUCK BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN LEAVING GARAGE.....UNDER VEHICLE FOUND BRAKE FLUID PUDDLE....UPON INSPECTION FOUND SEVERELY RUSTED BRAKE LINE WAS LEAKING.....YEAR PRIOR HAD SAME ISSUE WITH A DIFFERENT LINE, SO CHANGED OUT LINE. EVEN CHANGED A RUSTED LINE THAT WASN'T LEAKING....WHEN FILLED RESERVOIR WITH FLUID AND PRESSED PEDAL, BRAKE LINE GOING TO REAR OF TRUCK IN AN OBSCURED, ABOVE THE GAS TANK LOCATION, STARTED TO LEAK....ONCE AGAIN .....SEVERELY RUSTED BRAKE LINE, IN AN AREA FREE FROM ANY ROAD DEBRIS....SO ALAS, AFTER DROPPING THE GAS TANK AND REPLACING THIS LINE, WHICH MEANT EVERY LINE HAS BEEN REPLACED......NO LEAKS!!! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THESE LINES.....I BABY THIS TRUCK AND IT IS IN THE GARAGE 95% OF THE TIME ALWAYS CLEAN...THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!!! AFTER BEING A CHEVY MAN ALL MY LIFE.......I'M DONE.... DRIVE SHAFT, FUEL TANK GUARD, AND FUEL LINES AND FILTER ALL RUSTED.....FROM WHAT????? *TR
I OWN A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD PICK UP W/ A LITTLE OVER 50,000 MILES. THIS WINTER WHILE DRIVING THE BREAK PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO FLOOR AND COULD NOT STOP. A SNOW EMBANKMENT STOPPED ME LUCKILY WITH NO INJURY AND NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A NEARBY CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD CORRODED RIGHT THROUGH THE CALIPERS WERE CORRODED AT THE BLEEDER VALVE AND ROTORS WERE DELAMINATING . THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT IS COMMON WITH THESE VEHICLES. I CANNOT SEE A 7 YEAR OLD VEHICLE W/ LOW MILES HAVING SUCH A MAIN MAJOR SYSTEM FAILURE AS THIS. THE COST FOR REPAIR WOULD BE $3,200 I CANNOT AFFORD THIS SO THE VEHICLE (WHICH IS MINT CONDITION) IS NOW SITTING IN THE DRIVE WAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THE REAR WHEELS TURNED IN AN AWKWARD POSITION CAUSING A LOSS IN STEERING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STEER IN A STRAIGHT DIRECTION. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE REAR AXLE CENTERING SPRING. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE READ IN THE INTERNET THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEMS. IT IS SORT OF RIDICULOUS TO TAKE OFF A BATTERY TO CLEAN IT . PUT BACK ON AND NOTHING BUT HOT AIR ON PASSENGER. MY WIFE IS PRETTY UPSET ABOUT THIS, SHE WILL NOT EVEN DRIVE IN MY TRUCK ANYMORE. WHAT A CRYING SHAME! *TR
I OWN A 2003 CHEVY SILVERDO 1500 EX CAB TRUCK. I BOUGHT IT IN 2008, I STARTED TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SPEEDOMETER WHEN I HIT 80,000 MILES. THERE WOULD BE TIMES IT WOULD WORK AND THEN QUIT. NOW THAT I HAVE 120,000 MILES MY SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A LAWSUIT FOR THIS PROBLEM BACK IN 2007 AND THE ONLY REMEDY IT FOR GM TO PAY FOR IT WAS YOUR TRUCK WAS TO BE LESS THEN 7 YEARS LESS THEN 70,000 MILES ON IT TO RECEIVED THE SPECIAL EXTENDED THING. I CAN NOT GET IT FIXED FOR I CAN NOT AFFORD THE 500-700 TO FIX IT. GM SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS PROBLEM THERE ARE MANY THAT I HAVE FOUND ON THE NET THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AS I HAVE. I CAN T HAVE MY TRUCK DOWN FOR ANY MOUNT OF TIME DUE TO I AM DISABLED AND NEED MY TRUCK TO HAUL MY WHEELCHAIR. *TR
2003 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK ON 65 WHEN STOPPED AND WILL TRAVEL UPWARDS AS I DRIVE FASTER. FOR EXAMPLE IN A 35 MPH ZONE, WHEN I GUESTIMATE MY SPEED, I AM DRIVING ACCORDING TO MY SPEEDOMETER 110 MPH! *TR
SUDDEN BRAKE LINE FAILURE ON 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD - BRAKE LINES RUPTURED DUE TO RUST. TO CORRECT, NEEDED TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES ON TRUCK, AS THE REMAINING LINES WERE NEAR FAILURE AS WELL. I SEE THERE IS AN OPEN EA11001 ON THIS, AND I WANTED TO LET SOMEONE KNOW I HAVE THE VERY SAME ISSUE. *TR
2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD W/ 8.1L ENGINE. WITH 59,000 MILES. I NOTICED A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I TOOK INTO A DEALERSHIP FOR SOME OTHER SERVICE AND HAD THEM CHECK THIS NOISE ALSO. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A WARPED RIGHT SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. I ALSO KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS SAME ENGINE IN THERE MOTORHOMES THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
GM 2004 1500HD TRUCK: GM CAN'T FIX THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER PROBLEM. THE CODE THAT THEY CAN'T FIX KEEPS SAYING ITS THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR. I HAVE HAD GM DEALER TRY TO FIX WHAT THIS CODE IS TELLING THEM BUT STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. BASED OFF RESEARCH THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER GM TRUCK OWNERS. WHEN THIS SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON & DISPLAYS REDUCE ENGINE POWER THE TRUCK BASICALLY SHUTS DOWN. I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN RUNNING IN THE LEFT LANE OF A MAJOR HWY AND ALMOST GOT RUN OVER. PLEASE HAVE GM DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I'M SURE IF IT HASN'T KILLED ANYONE YET IT WILL. ONLY THING DIFFERENT BETWEEN THE TOYOTA PROBLEM AND THE GM PROBLEM IS ONE SPEEDS UP AND THE OTHER SLOWS DOWN TO 20MPH. AS I HAVE STATED THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS A LOT SO DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE INCIDENT DATE I HAD TO ENTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT PERSONALLY REPLACED THE STARTER RELAY BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT INTO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AS A CORRODED BRAKE LINE CLIP. THE FAILURE WAS CAUSING THE BRAKE LINES TO DETERIORATE AND LEAK BRAKE FLUID. THE MECHANIC PARTIALLY REPAIRED THE BRAKE LINE CLIPS BUT ADVISED THAT EVENTUALLY, THE REMAINING CLIPS WOULD ALSO FAIL. I NOTICED THAT THE WAS A LEAK UNDER MY TRUCK IN THE DRIVEWAY AND TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS A BRAKE LINE AND AS I STARTED LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE VISUALLY IN SIMILAR SHAPE. THIS IS ON A 2003 SILVERADO WITH 62000 MILES, SO I AM NOW REPLACING ALL THE LINES BECAUSE IF I DIDN'T SEE THE DRIP IT COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT WITH A 7200 POUND TRUCK. *TR
I HAVE A CHEVY SILVERADO 03, 2500HD AND I BELIEVE THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND WIRE HARNESS THAT CONNECTS TO IT. I RECENTLY CHANGED A BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER BACK IN SEPTEMBER, NOW HERE IS DECEMBER AND THE SAME RESISTOR HAD BLOWN AGAIN. SO I REPLACED WITH NEW ONE, AND NOW THE WIRE HARNESS THAT CONNECTS TO IT IS HEATING UP TO APPOINT THAT YOU CAN SMELL BURNING WIRES. I HAD CALLED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL ME THAT THEY SEEN THIS PROBLEM ON A LOT OF GM VEHICLES AND WANT TO CHARGE ME $160 TO CHANGE THE BAD WIRE HARNESS AND BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. MY NIGHTMARE STARTED WHEN I PULLED ONTO A FROM MY DRIVE WAY AND DROVE ABOUT A HALF BLOCK TO THE STOP SIGN IN MY 2003 SILVERADO AND NOTICED A MINI VAN GOING SOUTH. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I COULDN'T STOP. NO WARNING ON THE DASH NOTHING. THE VAN HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID ME AND ALMOST TIPPED OVER CONTAINING 5 PEOPLE. I SAW HIM COMING BUT COULDN'T DO ANYTHING TO STOP IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE LAST THING ON MY MIND WAS NO BRAKES. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 39 YEARS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE IN MY LIFE. YESTERDAY I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOT THE USUAL RUN AROUND. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED THEY WERE VERY CLEAR THAT MY CAR EVEN THOUGH ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT AND IS KEPT IN A GARAGE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THE BRAKE LINES. THE BEST PART WAS THEY WILL REPLACE THE LINES WITH STANDARD GM PARTS THE SAME ONES THAT ARE ON THE VEHICLE NOW. DOING THAT WILL HAVE THE SAME RESULTS AND A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. EVEN IF THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM PLEASE DON'T LET THEM DO THE REPAIRS WITH THE SAME INFERIOR BRAKE LINES THAT WE ALL HAVE NOW !!!! *TR
I WAS BRAKING TO GET OFF AN EXIT RAMP, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND WARNING BELL WAS RINGING. I WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING BECAUSE I STAYED ON THE MAIN ROAD. IF I HAD TURNED DOWN THE EXIT RAMP, I WOULD HAVE REAR-ENDED STOPPED TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME. THE CAUSE WAS A BROKEN BRAKE LINE - BRAKE FLUID WAS DRIPPING FROM VEHICLE UNDER THE DRIVER'S DOOR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ON THE TRUCK HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. TOTAL COST ESTIMATE WAS $1800.00. *TR
MY BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING ME TO GO THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THERE WAS A MINI VAN WITH 5 OCCUPANTS THAT SWERVED OFF THE ROAD TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME. THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL THAT MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING. UPON INSPECTION OF THE CAR ON 12/28 AT A GM DEALER I WAS TOLD MY BRAKE SYSTEM WAS RUSTED OUT AND CORRODED CAUSING MY BRAKES TO FAIL. I HAVE INVESTIGATED MYSELF THIS PROBLEM AND FIND OUT IT IS VERY COMMON ON THIS YEAR AND GM WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. EVERYONE THAT HAS THIS TRUCK IS AT RISK OF CRASHING AND DOESN'T EVEN KNOW IT. I WAS ONE OF THEM UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO.I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET GM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND ONLY BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES. THE WILL NOT SUPPLY ME WITH A CONTACT NUMBER FOR A ZONE REP OR ANYONE ELSE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE FAULTY BRAKE LINES BEFORE INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE KILLED IF IT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE BRAKE LINES FAILED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HEAR ANY NOISES NOR DID ANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS DESTINATION WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,800.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 SILVERADO 1500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED A LEAK COMING FROM THE BRAKE LINE. IN ADDITION, WHEN DECELERATING THE BRAKES WOULD PULSATE UNUSUALLY AND THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY USING THE PARKING BRAKE. THE PARKING LIGHT THEN ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 01/14/11*LJ
2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT BROKE. LESS THAN 100K MILES. COSTLY REPAIR TO HAVE THE BOLT DRILLED OUT AND REPLACE ALL BOLTS AND GASKET. EXHAUST LEAKS AND CAN HEAR TICKING NOISE FOR THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OR SO AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. ALSO CAUSES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON, PULLING ERROR CODES FOR OXYGEN SENSORS. *TR

MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500'S GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE MALFUNCTIONING. WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE THE SPEEDOMETER READING STARTED SHOWING SPEEDS OF OVER 100 MPH WHILE CRUISING AT 70 MPH. WHEN I TURNED THE TRUCK OF THE GAUGE DID NOT DROP BELOW 75. SINCE I FIRST NOTICED THIS ISSUE THE GAUGE HAS CONTINUED TO READ AN IMPROPER SPEED. THE MISREADING HAS FLUCTUATED FROM 20 TO 75 MPH OFF OF THE CORRECT SPEED. THE RPM GAUGE HAS ALSO BEEN DOING THE SAME THING. *TR
LOST ALL BRAKING ABILITY. FOUND SEVERLY ROTTED BRAKE LINE . THIS HAS ALSO OCCURRED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES ATER FIRST ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 5-10 MPH APPROACHING A COMPLETE STOP WHEN SUDDENLY, THE ABS ACTIVATED SUDDENLY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE. ALSO, THE CONTACT DISABLED THE ABS FUSE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
APPLIED BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR,I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE CURB WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE.UPON INSPECTION OF THE PROBLEM I FOUND THAT ALL THE STEEL BRAKE LINES UNDER THE VEHICLE WERE RUSTED. ONE BRAKE LINE HAD BURST DUE TO THE CORROSION. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THAT THESE BRAKE LINES SHOULD RUST AND FAIL EVER, NEVERMIND AT 36000 MILES. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.
I USE THIS TRUCK TO PULL A 2-HORSE GOOSENECK TRAILER AND HAD LITERALLY JUST UNLOADED TWO HORSES AND UNHOOKED THE TRAILER. WHEN I GOT BACK INTO THE TRUCK TO LEAVE THE BARN, THERE WERE NO BRAKES AND FLUID WAS LEAKING ALL OVER THE DRIVEWAY AND TRUCK. VERY SCARY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HAD THIS OCCURRED MOMENTS BEFORE WHILE PULLING THE LOADED TRAILER ON THE HIGHWAY, I AM ALMOST CERTAIN THAT MY SELF AND/OR SOMEONE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED, NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY OF THE HORSES. THERE WERE SUDDENLY NO BRAKES. I PULLED THE TRUCK ONTO THE GRASS AND CAME TO A STOP. IT IS STILL SITTING THERE BUT HAS BEEN EXAMINED BY TWO PEOPLE. COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES. I AM NOW INFORMED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. PLEASE ISSUE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. THANK YOU. RESPECTFULLY, JULIE MILLER

HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE LINE BECAUSE IT WAS TOO CORRODED TO REPAIR. 2ND INCIDENT: BACKING TRAILER INTO WATER TO TAKE BOAT OUT. APPLIED BRAKES & PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THIS OCCURRED ON 07/28/2011 WITH MILEAGE @ 105,000. AT THIS TIME ALL I KNOW IS THE BRAKE LINE BLEW.

THE ABS WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED SPORADICALLY PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED. THE BRAKE LINE WAS ALSO REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,500.
TREAD ON MICHELIN LTX M/S SEPARATED AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL WELL AND QUARTER PANEL OF MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO. THE TIRE HAD LESS THAN 18,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PROPERLY INFLATED BEFORE THE TRIP BEGAN. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED AT APPROX. 60 - 65 MPH AND THE TRUCK WAS STEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE FIBERGLASS WHEEL WELL AND QUARTER PANEL SUSTAINED CRACKS AND BROKEN MOUNTING BRACKETS. *TR
