THE BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THEY WORE OUT. THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE CHEV DEALER SAID THAT RUST HAD PENETRATED INTO THE ROTOR AND HAD CAUSED THE BRAKES TO PULSE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON PICKUPS LIKE MY 2003 SILVERADO K1500. IT SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM SINCE CHEVROLET SWITCHED FROM REAR DRUM BRAKES TO REAR DISC BRAKES. CHEVROLET STARTED THE PROBLEM BY SWITCHING FROM DRUM BRAKES TO DISC BRAKES. OWNERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR BAD ROTORS WHEN IT IS A CHEV DESIGN FAULT. *TR
OCTOBER 2006 I RECEIVED THIS LETTER FROM CHEVROLET. WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS IN SOME 2003 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET SILVERADO VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH A 6.6L DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE, MAY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF HIGH FUEL RETURN RATES DUE TO FUEL INJECTOR BODY CRACKS, OR BALL SEAT EROSION, OR HIGH PRESSURE SEAL EXTRUSION. SYMPTOMS OF THESE CONDITIONS INCLUDE ILLUMINATION OF SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT, LOW ENGINE POWER, HARD START, AND/OR FUEL IN THE CRANKCASE. THIS IS NOT A RECALL. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO YOUR CHEVROLET DEALER AS A RESULT OF THIS LETTER UNLESS YOU BELIEVE THAT YOUR VEHICLE HAS THE CONDITION AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. WHAT WE HAVE DON: GENERAL MOTORS IS PROVIDING OWNERS WITH ADDITIONAL PROTECTION FOR THE FUEL INJECTORS. IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS ON YOUR 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITHIN SEVEN (7) YEARS OF THE DATEYOUR VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PLACED IN SERVICE OR 200,000 MILES, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST, THE CONDITION WILL BE REPAIRED FOR YOU AT NO CHARGE. ON 29 OCTOBER 2007 MY WIFE TOOK THE 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EQUIPPED WITH A 6.6L DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER THE INJECTOR LEAKING. THE TRUCK ENGINE WARRANTY WAS VOID AND I WAS CHARGED $2218.63 FOR THE REPAIR AND THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD ME THEY WERE DENYING IT DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE MILEAGE. THE TRUCK HAD 108,880 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD BE WITH IN THE ADDITIONAL PROTECTION LETTER. MY INVOICE HAD NOTE HAS BANKS 6GUN SYSTEM ON TRUCK. ENGINE WARRANTY VOID! THE BANKS MANUFACTURER TOLD ME THAT ANY EQUIPMENT THAT WAS INSTALLED DOES NOT EFFECT THE FUEL INJECTORS AND IT WAS ALREADY A PROBLEM THAT GENERAL MOTORS HAD SENT IN THE LETTER IN OCTOBER 2006. I ASKED FOR SOME KIND OF DIAGNOSIS INFORMATION OR OTHER PROFF THAT THE BANKS SYSTEM CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND WAS DENIED ANY INFORMATION. *TR
CLUNKING NOISE IN STEERING WHEEL/COLUMN. GM FLAW IN INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, THAT SOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
SPEEDOMETER RANGES FROM 70-120 WON'T COME BACK DOWN. *TR
SPEEDOMETER OF 2003 CHEVY TAHOE, STOPPED WORKING ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD NO WAY O MAKING SURE WHAT MY SPEED WAS. I WAS STOPPED BY A POLICE OFFICER AND EXPLAINED MY SITUATION. THE OFFICER LOOKED AT MY SPEEDOMETER THAT WAY SHOWING 60 MPH AT A DEAD STOP. HE GAVE ME A WARNING AND TOLD ME TO GET IT FIXED. *TR
I HAVE 12,000 MILES ON MY 2003 SILVERADO AND MY SPEEDOMETER CONSTANTLY FAILS GIVING ME READINGS OF 120 MPH TO TOTAL FAILURE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE HAS TECHNICAL BULLETINS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COMPLAINT BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. PLEASE ADVISE BEFORE AN INCIDENT ASSOCIATED TO THIS SPEEDOMETER FAILURE OCCURS. *TR
I PURCHASED THE TRUCK USED WITH 83,000 MILES IN AUGUST OF 2007. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE WATER TEMP GAUGE MOVED ALL THE WAY AROUND AND THEN WENT BACK TO ZERO AND STOPPED WORKING. THEN THE SPEEDOMETER WAS STUCK FOR A FEW DAYS AND STARTED WORKING AGAIN. BUT FOR HOW LONG? AND NOW I'VE HEARD GM ISSUED AN "EXTENDED WARRANTY" JUST FOR THE GAUGES AND MUST HAVE UNDER 70,000 MILES INSTEAD OF A RECALL. *TR
THERE HASN'T BEEN AN ACCIDENT OR ANY INJURY (YET) BUT STEERING RELATED ISSUES CONCERN ME AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF LEFT TOO LONG. THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES THUMPING AND CHATTERING NOISES. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME IT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, FIRST AT 35K, GM REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, SECOND AT 51K, THE DEALER JUST REMOVED SOME STEERING SHAFT AND GREASED IT, NOW IT'S DOING IT AGAIN AT 65K. I HAVEN'T HAD IT FIXED YET, I DON'T DRIVE IT EVERYDAY, BUT I'M WILLING TO BET THE DEALER WILL WANT TO REPLACE IT THIS TIME. *TR
SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO FAIL TO OPERATE SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE FINALLY STOPPED WORKING AT ALL BOUGHT SPEEDOMETER SENSOR BUT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. PARTS PLACE SAID IT COULD BE IN COMPUTER .ALSO SAID IT MAY CAUSE FAILURE OF OTHER GAUGES ON DASH. *TR
VEHICLE LOOSING COOLANT. DETERMINED CYLINDER HEAD DEFECT, TSB #06-06-01-019B. CYLINDER HEAD EMBOSSED WITH CASTECH LOGO DEVELOPED A POROSITY CRACK IN A VERY SPECIFIC AREA. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO. TODAY THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED. AT FIRST IT REGISTERED ZERO. LATER IN REGISTERED BUT ONLY WENT UP UNTIL IT FINALLY WENT PAST 120 AND OFF THE SCALE. THIS IS CLEARLY A MALFUNCTION THAT IS DANGEROUS. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 TRUCK. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED, IT WAS BEING DRIVEN AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND BEGAN TO LOSE POWER WHILE BEING DRIVEN. PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR MADE NO CHANGE. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED, THEY TESTED THE TRUCK AND REPORTED NO PROBLEM FOUND. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED WITH THE TRUCK SINCE THAT TIME. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN SERVICE ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, AND THE DEALERSHIP REPORTS THAT THEY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS, REPLACING BROKEN WIRES, REPLACING WIRING THAT IS BROKEN INSIDE INSULATION ETC. THIS HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM TO DATE. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER FROM THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE TRUCK OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE (FOR A TOTAL OF 120 MILES), AND HE REPORTED THAT THE TRUCK NEVER LOST POWER. I PICKED UP THE TRUCK AND DROVE IT HOME AND LATER THAT EVENING WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR, WHEN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED, I HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THE TRUCK LOSES ALL POWER WITHIN 20 SECONDS. *TR
(1) HOT HUMID WEATHER WAS APPARENTLY TOO MUCH FOR MY VEHICLE AIR CONDITIONER. (2) THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR FAILED IN ADDITION TO THE ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL WIRING GOING TO THE RESISTOR. (3) THE PARTS THAT WERE REPLACED COST $51.62, AND THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE PARTS COST $445.00. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITH JUST OVER 31,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE JUST AS EASILY RESULTED IN A FIRE WITHIN THE DASHBOARD ASSEMBLY IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER HAS STARTED ACTING ERRATIC. IT WILL NOT SHOW THE CORRECT SPEED, OFTEN STICKS ON A PARTICULAR SPEED WHEN I KNOW I'M EITHER GOING SLOWER OR FASTER. AT TIMES IT SHOWS I'M GOING IN EXCESS OF 120 MPH. IT SOMETIMES GOES BACK TO 0 WHEN IT IS SHUTDOWN. IT MAY, OR MAY FUNCTION CORRECTLY THE NEXT TIME IT IS STARTED. SINCE THIS IS ALL I HAVE TO RELY ON TO DETERMINE IF I'M TRAVELING THE CORRECT SPEED, IS THE MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBLE IF I EXCEED THE SPEED LIMIT WHILE I AM RELYING ON THIS FOR AN INDICATION OF MY SPEED? *TR
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE BRAKES WORK FINE UP TO ABOUT 10 MPH THEN THE BRAKES SEEM TO RELEASE. THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IF COMING TO A STOP WITH NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCE THE PROBLEM COULD CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. *JB
THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE STEERING SHAFT. THE DEALER WOULD GREASE THE SHAFT AND THE NOISE WOULD GO AWAY FOR AWHILE. NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *TR
AT AROUND 124,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER SAID I WAS GOING 55 MPH. I GAVE IT SOME MORE GAS AND THE SPEEDOMETER NEVER ROSE, ONLY FELL DOWN TO 0. AFTER MY TRIP WHERE THIS INITIALLY HAPPENED MY SPEEDOMETER HAS DONE THIS NEARLY EVERY TRIP WHERE THE SPEED REACHES 70 MPH. TODAY, 11/13/07, I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, BEING THAT MY TRUCK HAS MORE THAN 70,000 MILES THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. CALLS TO GM HAVE BEEN NO HELP AND THE PROBLEM WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THEM, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS HAPPENING TO ALOT OF THESE MODEL VEHICLES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYS INACCURATE READINGS, WHICH RESULTED IN A TRAFFIC CITATION. THE SPEEDOMETER COULD DISPLAY 100 MPH WHILE DRIVING AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, THE DISPLAY WILL READ 60 MPH. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS FUNCTIONED NORMALLY ONLY ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY WILL CHARGE $600 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
IF IT RAINS AND WIPERS ARE USED WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OFF UNLESS FUSE IS PULLED. WATER GETS INTO WIPER MODULE AND CAUSE SHORT CIRCUIT., WHICH DEPENDING ON THE OCCURRENCE AND WEATHER SITUATION, DRIVER VISIBILITY COULD BE REDUCED, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. *JB
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT INDICATE PROPER SPEED. CAN BE AT 0MPH WHEN TRAVELING AT 55MPH. OR CAN BE AT 30MPH WHEN TRAVELING AT 55MPH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HD. THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED AND THE DIAL REMAINS ON ZERO. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ON MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 19,000 MILES ON IT WERE ACTIVATING WHEN STOPPING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. THE FIRST FEW TIMES THE PROBLEM HAPPENED, IT ALMOST RESULTED IN REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BY REPLACING THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS. GM REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR IN SPITE OF WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEMS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OIL PUMP CREATED A HOLE IN THE TRANSFER CASE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BACK HALF OF THE TRANSFER CASE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,438 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD HAS QUIT WORKING. THERE WAS NOT WARNING THAT IT WAS GOING TO FAIL. WHILE DRIVING ALL THE NEEDLES ACROSS THE PANEL WERE STUCK AT ZERO. NO SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE, TACHOMETER, TEMPERATURE. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A VERY HAZARDOUS CONDITION AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING HOME FROM A FOOTBALL GAME WHEN WE NOTICED WE WERE APPARENTLY DRIVING FASTER THAN THE SPEEDOMETER STATED, IT READ 65MPH,BUT THE RPM'S DID NOT MATCH AND WE WERE BLOWING PAST OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY AND FROM THAT POINT HAD TO GUESS HOW FAST WE WERE TRAVELING. THIS HAS HAPPEN A FEW TIMES AND NOW THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. GM SENT OUT LETTERS STATING A POSSIBLE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGE NEEDLES MAY STICK,FLUTTER OR BECOME INOPERATIVE & MAY CAUSE INACCURATE READINGS. GM REFUSES TO RECALL OR FIX OUR VEHICLE/TRUCK FOR FREE-THEY CLAIM TOO MANY MILES, I HAVE PROOF THIS HAS HAPPEN TO OTHER TRUCKS WITH MILES AT ON OR ABOUT 40,000, 90,000 AND OUR VEHICLE AT OR ABOUT 147,000 AT THE TIME IT MALFUNCTIONED. IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE MALFUNCTIONS OCCUR AT VARIOUS MILEAGES ON THESE TRUCKS AND GM WILL NOT REPAIR OUR VEHICLE AT THEIR COST. THE TRUCKS IN QUESTION ARE YEAR(S) 2003,2004 & 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE OUR TRUCK AND NOT KNOW HOW FAST WE ARE TRAVELING. *TR
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATING WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE LAST 5-10 FEET OF BRAKING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD NEARLY CAUSING ME, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, TO REAR-END VERHICLE IN FRONT OF ME - ESPECIALLY WHEN TOWING A TRAILER. *TR
RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES WITH SUBSEQUENT LOSS OF BRAKES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE BRAKE LINES FAILED. LINES WERE REPLACED. DAMAGED LINES WERE SAVED AND ARE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. DIMMITT CHEVROLET AND GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER ASSISTANT CENTER REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE BRACKET DETACHED FROM THE HOOD, CAUSING THE HOOD TO PARTIALLY LOOSEN. THE HOOD ALMOST SLAMMED INTO THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DENTS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 96,000.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES DURING LOW SPEED STOPS-EVEN ON DRY ROADS. STOPPING DISTANCE IS UNPREDICTABLE. THIS IS A RECALL ITEM ON SILVERADO'S AND YUKON'S OF DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WE LIVE IN A SALT ROAD ENVIRONMENT. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
2003 CHEVROLET TRUCK SILVERADO 1500. REAR BRAKE ROTORS WERE REPLACED BY CHEVROLET SERVICE GARAGE AT 15000 MILES AND AGAIN NEEDED THE DISC ROTORS AGAIN AT 21000 MILES. THE DISC ROTORS ARE FLAKING OFF BADLY LEAVING A ROUGH RUST SURFACE. ALSO THE ABS PRODUCES A RUMBLE AND BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES BACK JUST BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TRAVEL SEVERAL FEET FARTHER BEFORE THE STOP. MY FRIEND HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2003 CHEVROLET WHICH HE HAD CONVERTED SO HE CAN DRIVE BECAUSE OF SEVERE BACK DAMAGE BECAUSE OF A FALLING ACCIDENT. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD RESULT IN A RECALL BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND ALSO THE BRAKE LINES LEADING TO BACK AND FRONT BRAKES ARE VERY RUSTED AND COULD BURST AT ANY TIME CAUSING THE TRUCK TO CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND DEATH. THIS PROBLEM HAS GONE ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I HAD THE SAME ON MY OTHER 1997 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THIS CONDITION NEEDS CORRECTION, WHY NOT NOW? *JB
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK LAST YEAR. FROM THE FIRST DAY THAT I BOUGHT THE TRUCK, I HEARD A TICKING COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE NOTICE STATED THAT ONLY VEHICLES LESS THAN 7 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 70,000 MILES WOULD BE REPAIRED. HIS VEHICLE HAD 90,000 MILES AT THE TIME; HOWEVER, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED INCORRECT SPEEDS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR HIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000. UPDATED 11/29/07.

HAD TO REPLACE A FLEXPLAT TWICE ON 2003 CHEVROLET 1500HD (4X4). FIRST ONE AT 43,000 MILES, THE SECOND ONE WAS AT 78,000 MILES. CHEVROLET WOULD NOT HELP ON EITHER ONE. THEY ALSO SAID THEY HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT BUT THE TRANSMISSION SHOP FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN STATING TO USE A NEW SPACER IF YOU DO HAVE PROBLEMS. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL. REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT AND A FEW WEEKS LATER IT STOPS WORKING. IF I REMOVE THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND TAP THE BULB THAT'S NOT WORKING, IT WORKS FINE FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN STOPS WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR. REPLACING WITH A NEW BULB WORKS OK FOR A FEW WEEKS AGAIN. *TR
THE EVENT LEADING UP TO IS WET WEATHER. THE TRANSMISSION WILL STICK IN ONE GEAR AND WILL NOT SHIFT. WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO CINDY CHEVORLET I WAS TOLD THAT PER G.M. I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY 2500 H.D. CREW CAB TRUCK. IN AUG OF 2007 MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED ACTING UP. IT WOULD STOP AT 20 MPH WHEN I WAS AT A DEAD STOP. I CAN START THE VEHICLE AND IT WILL GO DOWN 5 MPH FOR EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. WHEN I HIT 0 IT WILL BE FINE FOR A WHILE. IT IS GETTING WORSE EVERY TIME I DO IT. ONE PASSENGER WAS INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. I OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB PICK UP WHICH WAS PURCHASED USED 3 MONTHS AGO. SINCE THE TIME THAT I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING. BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE HAD AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN MY AREA AND GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A RECALL DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY CLAIM THAT I AM NOT ELIGIBLE BECAUSE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED AND OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I HAVE STATED I HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE STICKING ACCELERATOR. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT DECELERATED AND THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL TO THE ONE MENTIONED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL DUE TO ITS EXCESSIVE MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,500.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAVE STOPPED OPERATING, EXCEPT THE SPEEDOMETER. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE AS WELL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 98,000.

HE PULLED OVER AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SPARE TIRE BRACKET ASSEMBLY HAD SHEARED OFF. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE 2005 MODEL BRACKETS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REIMBURSE HIM FOR THE SPARE TIRE NOR FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FAILED BRACKET. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. BEGINNING AT AROUND 80,000 MILES MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED REPORTING MY SPEED CORRECTLY. IT WILL STAY AT 0 MPH OR 30 MPH THEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE A FEW TIMES IT WOULD RESET. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER. BUT IT ONLY HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY WITH NO WAY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. TODAY (85,000MILES) I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND MY SPEED STOPPED AT 30 MPH AND WOULDN'T GO TO ZERO. I STOPPED TRIED TO GET IT TO RESET AND THEN IT STUCK AT 80MPH. I WAS NOT GOING THAT FAST. NOW IT IS NOT READING MY SPEED CORRECTLY AT ALL. IT WILL EITHER STAY AT 30, OR IT SAYS I'M GOING 20 WHEN I KNOW I AM GOING AT LEAST 60. THIS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. DIAGNOSTICS DON'T SEEM TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY FIANCE AND I BOUGHT A 2003 CHEVY IMPALA IN NOV OF 2006 WITH ONLY 40,000 MILES. IN JULY OF 2007, THE CAR WAS STARTED AND SHUT OFF BY ITSELF A FEW MINUTES LATER. IT WOULD THEN NOT START. WE FIRST HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP THAT INFORMED US THAT THE UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD CRACKED. IT LEAKED ANTIFREEZE INTO THE CYLINDERS, THE SPARK PLUGS AND OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE AND THE COST FOR REPAIR WOULD BE 1400.00. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A 2ND SHOP FOR A 2ND OPINION. THEY TOLD US THAT THE ANTIFREEZE THAT LEAKED HAD TOTALLY LOCKED UP THE ENGINE AND WE NEEDED A WHOLE NEW ONE. THAT WAS GOING TO COST US AT LEAST 2,000 FOR A USED ONE. WE THAN DECIDED THAT A 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 60K MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT BE IN NEED OF A NEW ENGINE SO WE AGAIN HAD IT TOWED TO A CHEVROLET DEALER REPAIR SHOP. THEY TOLD US THE SAME THING. THE CAR WAS OFFICIALLY IN NEED OF A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. WE CONTACTED CHEVROLET'S CUSTOMER CARE DEPT AND THEY ARE SO FAR UNWILLING TO HELP. WE'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR 8-9 MONTHS AND ARE CONTINUING TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON THE LOAN. PER THE DEALER, THE USED ENGINE WILL COST US 3000.00 AND A NEW ONE WILL COST IS 5050.00. *JB
WIPERS BLADES WILL NOT TURN OFF AFTER I TURNED THEM ON. THEY DID TURN OFF ONE TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT FOR 2 DAYS BUT THE NEXT TIME IT RAINED AND I TURNED THEM ON, THEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF. *TR
