UPON PARKING, HAD SLIGHT DIFFICULTY PLACING VEHICLE INTO PARK GEAR POSITION ON VERY SLIGHT INCLINE IN DRIVEWAY OF HOME. STEPPED OUT OF VEHICLE, RETURNED A FEW MINUTES LATER TO FIND VEHICLE HAD ROLLED INTO POLE. ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE, BUT WOULD NOT START, TRIED TO PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, AND COLUMN SHIFT WAS VERY LOOSE. APPLIED PARKING BRAKE AND CONTACTED DEALER FOR TOW NEXT MORNING. DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE SHIFT CABLE HAD BROKEN, REPLACED WITH NEW SHIFT CABLE. ONLY EXPLANATION OFFERED WAS PLASTIC SHEATH HAD CRACKED ALLOWING CABLE TO KINK, THEY STATED INITIALLY IT SOMETIMES HAPPENS, BUT THEY DID NOT EXPLAIN WHY. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IF VEHICLE WERE PARKED ON STREET ON A SLIGHT GRADE IT WOULD HAVE ROLLED DOWNHILL POSSIBLE CAUSING DAMAGE OR INJURING SOMEONE.
MY REAR ROTOR ON MY 2003 SILVERADO SS WITH 41,000 MILES IS RUSTING/CRACKING AWAY CAUSING MY PADS TO DIG GROOVES INTO ROTOR.PADS HAVE ANOTHER 40,000 MILES LEFT ON THEM.THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 36,000.SHOULD GM BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE ROTOR?
REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY TAIL GATE ON THE 2003 CHEVROLET C2500. *MR GM LED THE CONSUMER TO BELIEVE THAT THE TAILGATE HE REPLACED WAS GOING TO BE REPLACED BY THEM WITH THE ORIGINAL PARTS IF THE DEALER AGREED THE PROBLEM WAS SAID TO BE CAUSED BY THE TAILGATE CABLES. *SC *JB
DT: THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PULLING A TRAILER. WHEN HE APPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP BEFORE STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE REAR END. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. HOWEVER, NO ONE WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. A MANUFACTURER'S REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. COLLECTED CRASH DATA FROM THE VEHICLE COMPUTER, WHICH INDICATED WHEN BRAKE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT TRADED THE VEHICLE AFTER THE ACCIDENT. *AK THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. UPDATED 03/09/06
WHEN COMING UP TO AN INTERSECTION, THE TRUCK FAILED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, IN DRY CONDITIONS, WITH AMPLE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE TRUCK WAS REVVING AT A HIGH RPM, AND CONTINUED TO PUSH FORWARD WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. THIS RESULTED IN A ROLLING COLLISION. VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED WHEN SHIFTED INTO PARK. IMMEDIATELY CALLED DEALERSHIP, AND GM. AFTER 2 DAYS IN THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED NOTHING IS WRONG, AND WILL NOT INVESTIGATE ANY FURTHER. I WILL NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY LONGER AFTER THIS SCARY INCIDENT.*JB
INFERIOR BRAKE PERFORMANCE OF CHEVY. 2500 TRUCKS. THE BRAKES ARE INADEQUATE AND WEAR OUT PRE-MATURELY, CAUSING UN-SAFE BRAKING PERFORMANCE. CONTACTED G.M. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY AGREED TO TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM: WHICH WAS APPROVED AND DENIED TWICE. CONTACTED AREA DISTRICT SERVICE REP FOR G.M. AND HE ALSO DENIED A PROBLEM WITH BRAKES. SPOKE WITH DEALER SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH G.M. BRAKES; THE MANUFACTURE WILL NOT ADMIT A DEFECT IN INFERIOR BRAKE QUALITY. THE BRAKES DEGRADE GRADUALLY, WITH VERY FEW MILES: 15,000- 20,000 MILES. *TR
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. SOMETIMES IT DOES .SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T LAST I HEARD THERE WAS A NATIONAL BACKORDER ON THE CLUSTER. TO ME ITS A HAZARD. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING ON THE 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD WAS DAMAGED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY. AFTER 2 YEARS THE FAILURE RECURRED ON BOTH WHEELS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26000. *AK
1) SPEEDOMETER GRADUALLY BEGAN TO FAIL, REGISTERING FALSE SPEEDS. 2)IN THE DARK, I WAS DRIVING TOO FAST FOR ROAD CONDITIONS, MY SPEEDOMETER WAS STUCK AT A LOWER SPEED INDICATED. (I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR ISSUED VIOLATION) 3)THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM (I BELONG TO SILVERADO ENTHUSIAST FORUM) FURTHER THIS IS APPARENTLY A GM PROBLEM, AS AN 05 CHEVROLET IMPALA I DRIVE AT WORK (POLICE CRUISER) HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, WHICH LED TO AN ERRONEOUS ISSUANCE OF A SPEEDING VIOLATION ON A PACE (CORRECTED AT COURT). I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING AT NIGHT WITHOUT SURROUNDING TRAFFIC AS A REFERENCE. *NM

SPEEDOMETER FAILURE - SPEEDOMETER BEGAN BOUNCING ON MY TRUCK AROUND THE 40,000 MILE MARK AND NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. REPAIR COST IS APPROX $500 FOR THE ITEM AND IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED BY THE MAKER CHEVY AS THIS IS A MAIN ITEM TO BE USED ON THE TRUCK EVERYDAY AND THERE WAS NO REASON FOR IT TO GO DEFECTIVE. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND DISCOVERED SEVERAL THOUSAND OTHERS OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM - SAME PART - SAME SOLUTION - HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER ONLY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. *JB
SPEEDOMETER STOP FUNCTIONING AND DOESN'T ACCURATELY REFLECT THE VEHICLE'S SPEED. THE SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK AT 120+ MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE GM DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE ENTIRE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT PANEL MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $500. DT: CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PROPERLY BRAKING DURING NORMAL BRAKING OR PANIC BRAKING. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE ABS SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE COMPLAINT REFERENCE # 1338399458. *AK THIS PROBLEM HAVE EXISTED SINCE GM CHANGED TO 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES. THE CONSUMER ALSO OWNED A 1999 SILVERADO AND ALMOST HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. THE CONSUMER HAS FRIENDS WHO HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER SUGGESTED THAT IF ADDITIONAL WEIGHT WAS BEING HAULED, STOPPING POWER WOULD NOT BE PRESENT. *SC *JB *NM

WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR GETS WET FROM RAIN OR WASHING THE CAR, WIPERS SEEM TO SHORT OUT AND TURNS ON BY ITSELF, WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL DRY.
WARRANTY ON CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ON CHEV SILVERADO 1500 V6 4.3 WENT BAD CORROSION INSIDE RATTLING. REPLACED ,BUT NOT THE MUFFLER WHICH WAS CHECKED AT SAME TIME AND THE BELLOW WAS FOUND TO HAVE BEEN LOOSE DUE TO CORROSION,AND DEBRIS FROM THE CONVERTERS, BUT WAS NOT COVERED ON WARRANTY. WHY? I WAS INFORMED IT WASN'T 'T PART OF THE EXHAUST SYSTEM.??? THE EXHAUST GOES THROUGH THE CONVERTERS AND OUT THE MUFFLER. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALL OF ALL FOUR TIRES. SOME OF THE CRACKS WERE BILATERAL, AND SOME OF THE CRACKS WERE ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TIRE. THEY WERE ALSO LOCATED NEAR THE BEAD OF THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE.
CLUNKING NOISE FROM STEERING COLUMN. 1ST FAILURE AT 25,000 MI AND DEALER REPLACED SHAFT. 2ND FAILURE AT 50,000 MI AND GM REFUSED TO REPLACE OR PAY. I HAD TO PAY FOR SOME NEW LUBE KIT TO PREVENT NOISE AND WEAR.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT 2003 CHEVROLET C 2500 WAS HAVING A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWING REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THEN, THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY DROPPED POWER. THE SPEED WILL DRAMATICALLY SLOW TO AROUND 15 MPH. THIS HAPPENED 5 TIMES CURRENTLY. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL NEAR MISSES AS A RESULT OF THE POWER REDUCTION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES FOR THE ENGINE POWER FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THREE TIMES THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, THROTTLE BODY, POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE, THROTTLE ACTUATOR, CONTROL MODULE, ALSO, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL LOSING POWER. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS VERY UNWILLING TO HELP OR PROVIDE THE ADDRESS TO THE REGIONAL OFFICE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY RUDE AND REFUSED TO TRANSFER THE CALL TO HIS SUPERVISOR UPON REQUEST OF THE CONSUMER. *AK
I OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO THAT HAS THE PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATING AT LOW SPEEDS BECAUSE OF RUST AROUND THE SENSORS. IT ALSO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE ROTOR BRAKING SURFACE RUSTING AND PITTING SO BAD IN TWO YEARS THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE ONLY MAKING 50% CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE ROTOR CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKING PERFORMANCE. YOUR CURRENT INVESTIGATION DOES NOT INCLUDE 2003 VEHICLES AND NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED.
THERE IS A RUBBING AND THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. IT ONLY DOES IT AT LOW SPEEDS OF 5 TO 25 MPH, OR WHEN I TRAVEL OVER A ROUGH ROAD, OR IN OR OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. IT'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR SEVERAL YEARS. CHEVY OR GM WON'T REPAIR IT WITHOUT ME FORKING UP THE MONEY FIRST. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH 1999 THROUGH ABOUT 2007 CHEVY AND GM TRUCKS. GM SHOULD TAKE THE RESPONSIBLY FOR THIS AND FIGURE OUT A WAY TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE VEHICLE OWNER. *TR

BLOWOUT OF DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE WHILE GOING APROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON ST RT 56. CAUSED OVER $3,OOO.OO WORTH OF DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. TIRE TAKEN TO FIRESTONE. DEALER. DEALER SENDING TIRE TO THEIR NASHVILLE, TN TECH CENTER FOR EVALUATION.*AK
MY 2003 CHEVROLET 2500HD TRUCK HAS HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP GO OUT THREE TIMES. WHEN IT GOES OUT THE STEERING AND BRAKES FAIL AND MAKE IT VERY HAZARDOUS TO CONTINUE REQUIRING ME TO STOP AND HAVE SOME ONE PICK UP MY TRUCK AND HAUL IT HOME. I'VE ALSO HAD MY AIR CONDITIONING GO OUT TWICE AND IS NEARING FAILURE AGAIN. THE FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY HAS ALSO GONE OUT TWICE ON THIS TRUCK. ONCE THE REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WAS JUMPING AROUND SPEEDS NOT INDICATED THE PROPER SPEED IF IT WORKED AT ALL.I FEEL IT IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE NOT KNOWING THE SPEED YOUR GOING FOR THE ROAD CONDITIONS AND WHEN SEARCHING INTERNET FOUND THAT IT IS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM THAT GENERAL MOTORS STILL DOES NOTHING TO FIX FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW AND CHARGES THE OWNER A CHECK OUT FEE AND SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLORS TO PUT A NEW DASH IN VEHICLE.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FUEL GAUGE FAILURE. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, SOMETIMES EVERY DAY. NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FUEL GAUGE OFTEN SHOWS INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN WHEN THE CAR IS WARM THAN WHEN IT IS COLD. IT HAPPENS A LOT WHEN THE CAR IS HOT (E.G. HEATER IS ON VERY HIGH OR IN THE SUMMER). I'M AFRAID THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WILL TELL ME THAT I HAVE MORE FUEL THAN I REALLY DO AND, AS A RESULT, CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL FROM FUEL EXHAUSTION ON A BUSY HIGHWAY RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS STILL HAPPENS TO THE VEHICLE OFTEN. REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN DONE. I HAVE HEARD THAT MANY MANY OTHERS WITH THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENS NOT ONLY TO THE FUEL GAUGE, BUT ALSO THESE OTHER GAUGES: THE SPEEDOMETER (WHICH COULD CAUSE ME TO DRIVE TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS OR BREAK THE SPEED LIMIT), OIL PRESSURE, ENGINE TEMP, VOLTMETER, TRANSMISSION TEMP AND TACHOMETER. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 EXTENDED CAB, 4X4 TRUCK. THE BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS FELT SPONGY. AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT THE "LOW" BRAKE PEDAL, MY DEALER ADVISED THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY REAR ROTORS REPAIRED & THE REAR BRAKE SHOES REPLACED., SO I HAD THE WORK DONE. ONE WEEK LATER, I AGAIN COMPLAINED THAT NOW WHEN I'M STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO EVEN LOWER. THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS CHECKED OUT, THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS CHECKED, & I WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS OK, THERE WERE NO LEAKS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS WAS THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS TRUCK. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE WIPER BLADE WAS DEFECTIVE, THUS SCRATCHING THE WINDSHIELD. I HAD TO COMPLAIN TO GET THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED & THE WIPER REPAIRED. ALSO WITHING THE FIRST FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING, THE 4X4 SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW. ANOTHER COMPLAINT THAT THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP WAS THE WIND NOISE DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR GASKET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THIS WAS NOT REPLACED, ONLY TEMPORARILY FIXED, WHICH ONLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT WHILE. RECENTLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE O2 OXYGEN SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. WITHIN A MONTH, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THIS TIME IT IS A STUCK OPEN VALVE SOLONOID DEALING WITH THE EMMISSION SYSTEM OF WHICH I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF 364.00 TO REAPAIR, THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OF THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD, & I'M TIRED OF HAVING TO TAKE THE TIME TO GET IT TO THE DEALER'S FOR REPAIRS. *AK

WHEN SHIFTING FROM THE SECOND TO THIRD GEAR A LOUD BANGING NOISE WAS PRODUCED. DEALER HAS REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION. C URRENTLY, WHEN SHIFTING FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR A LOUD NOISE IS PRODUCED. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING. *AK
VEHICLE OFF IN PARK, KEY TURNED 1 CLICK , WENT IN GEAR WITHOUT FOOT ON BRAKE, CRASHED.
VEHICLE SHIFTS HARD AND MAKES CLUNKING SOUND IN ALL GEARS. THE TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANTLY SLIPPING BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS AND SLAMS INTO SECOND GEAR. ALSO HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH TRUCK SLIPPING IN FIRST GEAR FROM A DEAD STOP. THERE IS A CONSTANT "KNOCKING" FEELING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND TURNING. DEALER CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL GM CUSTOMER FOR YEARS AND AM EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED.*AK
DT: THE VEHICLE WENT THROUGH NY STATE INSPECTION ON MARCH 28, 2005 AND PASSED ALTHOUGH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING. FOUR MONTHS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE REAR ROTORS WERE RUSTED AND PITTED. GM WILL ONLY REDUCE THE PRICE FROM $225 TO $79, ALTHOUGH IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THEY SAID IT WAS A WEAR OR RUST ISSUE. BUT THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND CALIPERS WERE FINE. GM WAS NOT HONORING THE WARRANTY.*AK THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS REPLACED DUE TO NOISE. *NM
I HAVE A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING COLUMN ON MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 Z71. IT IS ALWAY VIBRATING AND CLUNCKING. I BRING IT INTO FOR SERVICE AND AFTER ABOUT 4-6 MONTHS I AM IN THERE AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPT. STATED THEY ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT HAVE NO FIX BUT TO GREASE PART. UNACCEPTABLE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE DRIVER NOTICED A BROWNISH LIQUID LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FILTER AND OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. *AK (THE VIN NUMBER ENTERED PER CONSUMER, DID NOT MATCH THE VEHICLE GIVEN) *SC *JB
DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT STEERING FAILURE . ANYTIME THE VEHICLE STOPPED THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED. THE BRAKES MUST BE RELEASED, ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD SLIGHTLY BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL WILL TURN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FOLLOWING ;THE GEAR BOX, GEAR SHAFT, POWER STEERING PUMP AND A VALVE IN THE POWER STEERING. AFTER EACH REPAIR THE PROBLEM REMAINED, AND IT WAS MORE EVIDENT IN THE MORNING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH THE MANUFACTURER, WHO RESPONDED BY LETTER TO THE CONTACT TELLING HIM THIS WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE, AND THEY WOULD DO NO FURTHER TESTING . *AK
DT: CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A STEERING PROBLEM. HE EXAMINED THE TRUCK AND FOUND THERE WAS A BEND IN THE CENTER LINK OF THE POWER STEERING. HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM STEMMED FROM THE 20 WHEELS AND TIRES HE HAD ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THOUGHT THE BEND WAS A FACTORY DEFECT BASED ON HIS PERSONAL INSPECTION OF OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES.*AK
TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TWICE WITH COMPLAINT OF PARKING BRAKE NON FUNCTIONAL. ALLOWED TRUCK TO MOVE FWD. WHEN PARKED ON INCLINE,PRK BRAKE PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. SUPPOSEDLY BRAKES ADJUSTED TWICE,PROBLEM NEVER BETTER POST DEALER SHOP VISIT. TOOK IT TO PRIVATE SHOP. FOUND TO HAVE PADS SOAKED WITH DIFFERENTIAL FLUID FROM REAR END SEAL FAILURE. MOST PROBABLE CAUSE OF EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILURE. ON DISCUSSING WITH MECHANIC, HE MENTIONED THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON FAILURE ON THESE UNITS. PAID FOR REPAIRS MYSELF. NEVER SUBMITTED FOR WARRANTY REPAIR TO THE DEALER OR TO THE EXT. WARRANTY CONTRACT COMPANY (AUTOGAP XTEND). PROBLEM IS FIXED NOW. SEALS ,OLD PADS, REPAIR RECEIPT ARE IN MY POSSESSION. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING LOW SPEED TURNS, THE REAR WHEELS TURN LEFT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR WHEEL SENSORS, WHICH REMEDIED THE PROBLEM.
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE UPPER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED ON THE 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO AT 27638 MILES. THE UPPER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT FAILED AGAIN AT 54000 MILES. AT TOM BANNING CHEVROLET THE MECHANIC STATED THAT EACH UPPER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WOULD ONLY LAST APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES. *AK
THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED AND VEHICLE WAS PULLING OUT IN REVERSE. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR CHECKUP, AND RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE BRAKE HOSES WERE TORN. THIS CAUSED THE PROBLEM.*AK
I ALONG WITH 4 CLOSE FRIENDS EACH INDIVIDUALLY OUN 2003 CHEVROLET 2500HD PICK UP TRUCKS. ALL OF US HAVE HAD A STEERING PROBLEM STEMMING FROM A STEERING COMPONENT CALLED THE "INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT" ALL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE HAD THEIR SHAFTS CHANGED OUT UNDER CHEVROLETS FACTORY WARRANTY. I WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE MINE COVERED BECAUSE I AM OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY MILAGE, HOWEVER I DID HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED BY MY LOCAL DEALER AND WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS BAD. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS SHAFT DOES BUT I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK IN FEAR OF MY STEERING SHAFT BREAKING AND FALLING OUT. CHEVROLET HAS REFUSED TO COVER THIS PART AS A GOOD FAITH REPAIR SO I AM LOOKING INTO MAKING THIS A RECALL SITUATION DUE TO THE NUMBER OF WARRANTY REPAIRS THEY MAKE ON THESE TRUCKS.*AK
2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS GAUGE AND THE SPEEDOMETER.*MR THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE BECAME STUCK AND WOULD NOT RETURN TO ZERO. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CLUSTER. THE GAS GAUGE WAS INACCURATE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS. THE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THERE WAS 1/4 TANK OF FUEL REMAINING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL MODULE ASSEMBLY. *NM
THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED DURING THE FOLLOWING YRS AT LEAST 3 TIMES A YEAR NOW FOR EACH YR FROM 2005 TILL 2015 COMING HOME FROM DAUGHTERS AND LOST ALL HEAD LAMPS AND DRIVING LIGHTS SO WAS DRIVING IN COMPLETE DARKNESS WITH NO LIGHTS , THANKFULLY WE MADE IT HOME THE LAST 2 MILES NEXT DAY TOOK TO MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE LAMPS , TWO WEEKS LATER GOT PULLED OVER DUE TO RUNNING LIGHTS ONE WAS OUT AND GOT WARNING ABOUT THAT .......................THIS HAS HAPPENED 12 TIMES SINCE WE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE 2005 AND WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY BUT NOW AFTER 6 MONTHS LIGHTS GO OUT AGAIN AND GET PULLED OVER DUE TO ONLY ONE HEADLAMP IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING? MOSTLY THIS IS JUST ON DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP AND RUNNING LIGHT IT KEEPS BLOWING THE LAMPS OUT OCCASIONALLY IT BLOWS BOTH SIDES AND FRONT RUNNING LAMPS. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER STOP WORKING. I RECEIVED A LETTER ON 1/9/2008 SAYING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DASH CLUSTER IN 2003 CHEVROLET TRUCKS AND IF YOUR VEHICLE HAD 70,000 OR LESS MILES THEY WOULD REPLACE IT. MY TRUCK HAS 100,000 MILES, BUT THE DASH HAD STOP WORKING BEFORE IT REACHED 70,000 MILES. I CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT. *TR

I OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 PICKUP TRUCK. THE FUEL PUMP QUIT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD JUST UNDER 45,000 MILES. THE COST OF THE REPAIRS AMOUNTED TO $642, AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. 2003 SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS FAILING. FIRST, 2 YRS AGO, IT WAS THE TACH FAILING NOW IT IS THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE OTHERS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY AT TIMES. I DID RECEIVE A LETTER FROM GM 2 WEEKS AGO WENT TO THE DEALER, THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE I HAVE 87000 MI ON IT. CALL GM AND THEY SAID IT IS UP TO THE DEALER. THAT DOESN'T SOUND RIGHT!
