WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. *AK *SC
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN TURNING. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
LIGHTS FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL OCCASIONALLY DOES NOT WORK. BATTERY DIED. RADIO MADE LOUD HUMMING NOISE EVEN WHEN CAR SHUT OFF OVERNIGHT. AIR CONDITIONER BROKE. BUT THE CONTINUAL PROBLEM IS THE 4WD BECOMES INOPERABLE AND SERVICE 4WD MESSAGE APPEARS. GM HAS NO REPAIR. THEY STATE I MUST STOP TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART IT IN ORDER TO "WAKE UP" THE ELECTRONICS. IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP 4 TIMES IN LAST SIX MONTHS WHEN I BOUGHT IT NEW. THE DANGEROUS PART IS WHILE DRIVING IN ICE AND SNOW THE VEHICLE'S 4WD BECAME INOPERABLE RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND A NEAR MISS CRASH. *CB
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE DRIVER PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES RELEASED POWER. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR ANALYSIS. *JB *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE REAR END STARTED SHAKING AND WITHOUT WARNING THE STEERING WHEEL HAD LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED, ' THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THREE TIMES BEFORE RESTING ON ITS SIDE'. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE THREE PASSENGERS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

PER BBB ORDER CHEVROLET WAS TO HAVE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO FIX VEHICLE AND CHEVROLET REP. INSISTED THAT HE WOULD PERSONALLY HAVE A ALLISON TRANSMISSION GURU PERSONALLY REVIEW MY VEHICLE. WELL THEY CHANGES SOME SORT OF PART WITHIN THE DRIVETRAIN AND THE GURU NEVER SHOWED UP. TO THIS DAY THE 4 WD LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND THEY SEEM TO JUST CALL IT A "MINOR FLAW" AND I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE TO MUCH! I PURCHASED THE TRUCK JUST ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO AND IT HAS 48000 MILES. I GUESS I'M JUST NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK THAT MUCH. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, AND BOTH FRONTAL AND REAR SEAT BELTS FAILED TO LOCK. THE VEHICLE'S LOWER IDLE ARM AND BALL JOINT HAS FAILED. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN DRIVING OVER 40 MPH. THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
STEERING COLUMN - THE COLUMN MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE. I CAN ALSO FEEL THE KNOCKING WITHIN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE BUSHING WAS REPLACED WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS COME UP AGAIN. IT WENT AWAY FOR 6 MONTHS OR SO AND HAS BEEN BACK EVERY SINCE. *JB
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO WHICH SOUND LIKE THE STEERING SHAFT IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY USED A GRINDER ON THE STEERING SHAFT. IT WASN'T TOO LONG AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER THIS TIME NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE STEERING SHAFT. I DID NOT HAVE IT REPLACED AT THIS TIME. THIS IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED. SO FAR THIS HASN'T CREATED AN ACCIDENT. *NM

4X4 DOES NOT ACTIVATE WHEN NEEDED. TAKEN TO DEALER 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. BULLATIN OUT FROM DEALER TO SERVICE TECHS STATING THERE IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM IN THE 4X4 PROGRAM AND AT THIS TIME CHEVROET DOES NOT HAVE A REMEDY TO FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK
DT: PIECES OF TIRE KEEP FALLING OFF THE SIDEWALLS ON FOUR TIRES THAT CAME WITH VEHICLE. THE TIRE PRESSURE RECOMMENDED IS 44 PSI. APART FROM THE PIECES COMING OFF THE TIRES, THERE ARE NO BULGES OR ANYTHING OF THAT SORT.*AK UPDATED 11/15/05. *JB
I AM COMPLAINING OF A CLUNKING SOUND AND A HARD SHIFT COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION IN A 2-3 UPSHIFT IN A 03 SILVERADO AUTOMATIC. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES AND THEY TELL ME THAT GM SAYS THE NOISE AND SHIFTING IS NORMAL. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY CARS AND NOTHING I HAVE DRIVEN SHIFTS LIKE THAT. I WISH GM WOULD HAVE TO DO A RECALL AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
MY DAUGHTER HAD AN ACCIDENT IN OUR 2003 CHEVROLET 1500 SERIES PICKUP TRUCK DUE TO A STEERING PROBLEM. SHE WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A LOW SPEED AND SAID SOMETHING WENT WRONG WITH THE STEERING. IT MADE A POPPING/GRINDING SOUND, SPUN HER IN A CIRCLE AND CAUSED HER TO HIT A CURB AND THEN A YIELD SIGN. WE HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT SOUNDED LIKE A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. THE DEALER CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID THAT THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE ANYONE COULD CHECK OUT THE STEERING. THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STEERING. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT ESPECIALLY SINCE I READ AN ARTICLE REGARDING THE RECALL OF CERTAIN GM CARS WHOSE DRIVERS EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO READ IN THE ARTICLE THAT NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THE 2500 AND 3500 SERIES TRUCKS AND FEEL THAT THE 1500 SERIES SHOULD ALSO BE INVESTIGATED.*AK
ON DECEMBER 21, 2008, MY SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE SPEEDOMETER CAN INTERMITTENTLY READ ANYTHING FROM "ZERO" (WHEN I AM ACTUALLY DOING MORE THAN 50 MPH) TO 110 (WHEN I AM ACTUALLY DOING ABOUT 60 MPH). WHEN THE SYMPTOMS BEGAN TO OCCUR, I CALLED MY LOCAL GM DEALER TO SEE ABOUT REPAIRS, AND I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS "OUTSIDE OF THE REPAIR WINDOW" FOR THE COURTESY REPAIR, AND WHEN I ASKED HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO REPAIR IT ON MY OWN, I WAS TOLD "ABOUT $500". SINCE THE PROBLEM IS (SO FAR) VERY INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE, AND SINCE I DON'T HAPPEN TO HAVE A SPARE $500 TO SPEND ON A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WHICH GM HAS APPARENTLY KNOWN ABOUT FOR SOME TIME AND REFUSES TO ADDRESS BEYOND A VERY LIMITED SCOPE, I ELECTED TO "WAIT AND SEE". BUT IN THE MEANTIME, I HAVE NO ACCURATE SPEEDOMETER READING, AND MUST ATTEMPT TO GAUGE MY SPEED BY THAT OF THE OTHER VEHICLES SURROUNDING ME AT ANY GIVEN TIME. THIS IS HARDLY AN ACCEPTABLE SITUATION. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES OVER MY LIFETIME (I AM 60 YEARS OLD), AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURES. *TR

I OWN A 2003 Z71 EXTENDED CAB 4X4 SILVERADO W/ LESS THAN 9,000 MILES. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS ON WET PAVEMENT THERE IS NO TRACTION (THE TIRES JUST SPIN). THIS CAUSES PROBLEMS WHEN TAKING OFF (IE FROM A STOP LIGHT) OR STOPPING. THIS CAN CAUSE A POTENTIAL VEHICLE CRASH SITUATION ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ACCELERATING ACROSS TRAFFIC.*AK
DETERIORATION IN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. REPAIR REQUIRED AT 16,500 MILES. DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES THAT GENERAL MOTORS HAS BEEN AWARE OF FAULTY PART SINCE THE MODEL CHANGE IN 1999. MANUFACTURER WILL NOT AUTHORIZE REPLACEMENT OF FAULTY PART BECAUSE THE NEW PART IS NOT EXPECTED TO LAST ANY LONGER THAN THE ORIGINAL.*JB
BRAKES NEEDED REPLACEMENT AT 2,000 MILES DUE TO FRONTAND REAR ROTORS BEING OUT OF ROUND. MY INITIAL COMPLAINT WAS DUE TO A VERY LOUD NOISE EACH MORNING UPON INITIAL BRAKING. SOUND WAS NOT A NORMAL BRAKE SQUEAL. WORK ORDER SHOWS H0042 1.0+.8+1.8 O.L.H DUE TO REAR BRAKES. *AK
ON ONE OCCASION THE VIEHICLE SHIFTED INTO TOWING MODE BY ITSELF, WITHOUT ANY REASON, (IE: NO BUTTONS PRESSED). YESTERDAY, THE TRUCK SHIFTED INTO 4WD - LOW RANGE AT HIGHWAY SPEED BY ITSELF WITHOUT ANY REASON. THIS CAUSED THE FRONT WHEELS TO TEMPORARILY SCREECH AND THE ENGINE TO OVER-REV. I STOPPED THE TRUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND THEN THE 4WD CONTROL PANEL WAS INOPERATIVE AND THE SERVICE 4WD INDICATOR WAS ON. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY LOCAL DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM RIGHT THEN, BUT NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE THE ERROR CODE WOULD BE STORED AND THEY COULD RETRIEVE IT AFTER LUNCH. I TOOK IT BACK AFTER LUNCH, AND NO ERROR CODE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I'VE HAD THE TRUCK IN ON 4WD PROBLEMS, BUT THE FIRST TIME THAT THE PROBLEMS HAVE PRESENTED A REAL DANGER. I HAD THE TRUCK IN FIVE TIMES WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITHOUT A FIX. *JB
DRIVE LINE "CLUNK". APPEARS TO BE TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. CLUNKING SOUND WHEN AUTOMATIC TRAN SHIFTS. BEEN TO TWO DEALERS 4 TIMES. THEY SAY IT'S "NORMAL". TALKED TO GM AND THEY SAY IT'S "NORMAL".*AK
2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 (V6) WAS APPARENTLY DESIGNED WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER EVAPORATOR COIL SITUATED OVER THE DISTRIBUTOR AND POINTS. THE CONDENSOR COIL DRIPS MOISTURE ONTO AND INTO THE DISTRIBUTOR CAUSING CORROSION. THIS CORROSION CAUSES THE ENGINE TO HESITATE AND VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY AT ACCELERATION TO 45 MPH. MY NEW VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD THE DISTRIBUTOR AND POINTS REPLACED TO "REMEDY" THE SITUATION. THE DEALERSHIP WAS SUPPOSED TO WRAP THE CONDENSOR COIL WITH TAPE WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE CONDENSATE TO DRIP FURTHER INTO THE ENGINE BUT AS IT TURNS OUT THEY DIDN'T "GET AROUND" TO WRAPPING THE COILS. AS A RESULT, AFTER RUNNING THE A/C, THE ENGINE IS HESITATING AFTER ONLY 20 MILES OF DRIVING. THEY STATED THE FIX IS GOOD FOR AS LONG AS THE TAPE HOLDS UP. AFTER THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT, IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE MY PROBLEM TO PAY TO REPLACE THE DISTRIBUTOR EVERY 5 OR 10 THOUSAND MILES WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE. SO FAR, I HAVE CONTACTED 4 DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS IN THE HOUSTON AREA. EVERY SERVICE MANAGER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM EXISTS ON ALL V6 ENGINES FOR THIS TRUCK FOR YEARS 2002 AND 2003. THE SALES STAFF WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THEY EVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. I AM AWARE OF 3 OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEIR DEALERS WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE ANY PROBLEM EXISTS.*AK
SPEEDOMETER WITHER FREEZES OR REGISTERS GREATER OR LESSER THAN I AM DRIVING REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER SHIP WHERE THEY GAVE ME THE ADVISE TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND IT WOULD RESET ITSELF. THIS WORKED SEVERAL TIMES, SOMETIMES TAKING SEVERAL RESTARTS TO ACCOMPLISH. NOW I GET THE RECALL NOTICE AND BECAUSE AI HAVE DRIVEN MY VEHICLE OVER 70K/5YEARS, WHICH EVER COMES FIRST THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THIS. IT WILL COST APPROX. $450 TO FIX IT. IF THIS IS A RECALL WHY ARE THEY NOT TAKING CARE OF IT. IT TAKES SEVERAL YEARS AND MANY COMPLAINTS TO GET SOMETHING RECALLED. THAT MEANS THAT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THIS IS BULL, IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT AND SHOULD BE REPLACED AT THEIR COST. GM REFUSES AS DOES MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. MY MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY THEM, I MUST HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS IN BRINGING IT TO THEM FOR REQUIRED SERVICING. WHY DID THEY NEVER CHECK THIS ? THEIR COMMENT WAS, "WELL, IF YOU NEVER BOUGHT IT IN TO BE FIXED WHY SHOULD IT BE FIXED NOW" I DIDN'T BRING IT IN BECAUSE THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS VEHICLE AND THAT SHUTTING IT OFF WOULD RESET IT. OH, THEY WOULD FIX IT IF IT WERE CONSIDERED A SAFETY PROBLEM. WELL, IF I AM TRAVELING AT AN UNSAFE SPEED BECAUSE I AM GOING ACCORDING TO MY SPEEDOMETER, THEN THAT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. ONLY IN THIS CASE, THEY GET TO DETERMINE WHAT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND WHAT IS NOT.. *TR
TIRES DEVELOPED BUBBLES, AND THE STEEL BELTS ARE VISIBLE IN PLACES. ALSO, EXHAUST SYSTEM IS DESIGNED WITH THE PIPES SITTING DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE SPARE TIRE. *AK
DT: THE CALLER WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. THE CONSUMER HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS ROTATED. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE BOUNCED UNTIL IT HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT IT WAS COMMON TO ROTATE THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD TAKEN THE CONSUMERS COMPLAINT AND GAVE HER NHTSA'S PHONE NUMBER. *AK THE CONSUMER FOUND THAT THE 2005 SILVERADO'S HAVE GONE BACK TO FRONT DISC BRAKES AND REAR DRUM BRAKES. *SC
VEHICLE JACK IS TOO SHORT TO JACK UP VEHICLE TO CHANGE FLAT TIRE, JACK PLACED UNDER FRAME PER OWNERS MANUAL. PLACING 4INCH BY 4INCH BLOCK OF WOOD BETWEEN GROUND AND JACK SOLVES PROBLEM - JACK IS EXTENDED AS FAR AS IT WILL GO. THERE IS NO INTERNAL THREADED SCREW SHAFT IN JACK TO EXTEND IT. DEALER SAYS THERE IS ONLY ONE PART NUMBER FOR PICKUP JACK, TO WRITE "GM" ON SIDE OF BLOCK OF WOOD. GM SAYS IF THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLANTS THEY'LL LOOK INTO IT.. ADDING A BLOCK OF WOOD UNDER A FULLY EXTENDED JACK TO REMOVE A FLAT TIRE DOESN'T SEEM SAFE AS COMPAIRED TO A JACK THAT IS THE CORRECT FIT FOR A VEHICLE. AT THE PRICE I PAID FOR A NEW TRUCK I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY GM DOESN'T PROVIDE THE CORRECT JACK! EVERY SILVERADO OWNER WHO HAS A FLAT LIKE I DID WILL GET A SUPRISE WHEN THEY TRY TO CHANGE THE TIRE WITH THE PROVIDED JACK.*AK
AT ANY SPEED WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKES PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR AND FEEL SPONGY. ALSO, WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKES VEHICLE WILL TAKE AN EXTREMELY LONG TIME TO STOP. I HAVE A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH 17,000 MILES ON IT AND THE VIBRATION WITH THE TIRES ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY. I HAVE HAD THEM ROTATED REGULARLY. INFACT, I HAVE ROTATED THEM MORE THAN ANY VEHICLE I HAVE EVER HAD. I RECIENTLY HAD THEM "TRUED" AND BALANCED. THE VIBRATION CONTINUES. AFTER A VISIT TO MY LOCAL BILL HEARD CHEVY DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIRES ARE IN SUCH BAD SHAPE THAT THEY WOULD NOT "INDEX" THEM. I NOW MUST SHOW THEM DOCUMENTATION OF WHEN, WHERE AND WHO ROTATED MY TIRES IN THE FIRST 6,000 MILES IN ORDER FOR THEM TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION. NOW I ROTATE MY TIRE MYSELF AND THEREFOR, I HAVE NO PAPERWORK ON IT. CHEVROLET SAYS TO TAKE THE VECHILE TO A GOODYEAR TIRE DEALERSHIP AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT. I GOT MORE/BETTER RESPONSE FROM THEM. IF THE TIRES ARE 25% OR LESS IN WEAR, THEN THEY WILL REPLACE THEM. KEEP IN MIND, I HAD THEM "TRUED" WHICH MEANS I HAD THEM "SHAVED" TO A MORE ROUND SHAPE. SO NOW I HAVE GONE THE EXTRA MILE TO GET THE VIBRATION OUT OF THE TIRES BY "TRUEING" THEM AND NOW I HAVE TO HAVE THEM "DEAPTH CHECKED" TO SEE IF THERE IS ENOUGH TREAD TO JUSTIFIY A REPLACEMENT. WOW! TALK ABOUT DAMNED IF YOU DO AND DAMNED IF YOU DON'T! CHEVROLET NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND TAKE CARE OF THERE CUSTOMERS. I DIDN'T BUY A TRUCK WITHOUT TIRES, I BOUGHT A PACKAGE DEAL. BUT WHEN NEEDED AFTER THE SALE, IT'S THE OTHER GUYS MALFUNCTION AND YOU NEED TO GO AND SEE THEM. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR CAR COMPANIES? DON'T BELIEVE THE COMERCIALS YOU SEE ON TV.
STEERING WHEEL BINDS WHILE STOPPED AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL OR TAKING OFF AND TURNING. IF BACKING UP SLOWLY OR MOVING FORWARD SLOWLY AND TURNING THROUGH PARKED CARS COULD CAUSE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO ONE WHEN THE STEERING BINDS UP. ALSO COULD CAUSE A CRASH WHILE TURNING AND STEERING BINDS AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO THE DITCH. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED 3 TIMES. THEY REPLACED THE SHAFT ASSEMBLY AND GEAR BOX. BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *LA

JUST RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER TODAY, I THOUGHT IT WAS STRANGE I'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS AT ALL UNTIL THE LETTER ARRIVED IN THE MAIL 10/24/2007 WELL TODAY MY CLUSTER WENT OUT !!! SPEEDOMETER, OIL,PRESSURE, GAS, AMP, TEMP, MILEAGE AS WELL ALL QUIT ! KIND OF MAKES ME WONDER IF IT WAS SHUT DOWN VIA SATELLITE OR RADIO WAVE... MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT I NOW HAVE A EXTENDED COVERAGE ON THIS 70K MILES OR 7 YEARS I PLAN TO TAKE MINE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. ASAP IT'S FAILED TWICE IT DID COME BACK UP AFTER 20 MIN. WE HAD AN ELECTRIC MALFUNCTION IN OUR STEERING COLUMN. THE STARTER HAD THE INSULATION ON THE WIRE WAS RUBBED THROUGH ENOUGH TOO SHORT OUT AND CAUSE IT TO BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE ENTIRE TRUCK SYSTEM SHUTDOWN. THE IGNITION AND THE KEY WAS HOT TO TOUCH WHEN WE TOUCH IT TO TAKE IT OUT. *LA
INVOLVED IN A 45 MPH COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. AIRBAGS IN MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
1 SIX MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD GET STUCK. SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 65 I WAS REALLY GOING 75 ACCORDING TO THE ARIZONA HIGHWAY PATROL I WAS GIVEN A WARNING SINCE THE OFFICER SAW THAT MY SPEEDOMETER HAD STAYED STUCK AT 65 EVEN WHEN I HAD ALREADY TURNED OFF MY VEHICLE. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS REPLACED MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE AND MY SPEEDOMETER HAS FAILED AGAIN. *TR
BRAKE PEDDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN STEADY PRESSURE APPLIED. THIS HAS OCCURED SINCE THE TRUCK HAD ABOUT1000 MILES ON IT.DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. IF THIS IS NORMAL THERE IS A LOT OF TRUCKS THAT ARE NOT ABLE TO STOP VERY FAST.
CONSTANT WIND NOISE FROM HOOD HINGE FLAPS AND TOP WINDSHIELD SEAL AT 50 AND ABOVE. ALSO DRIVER DOOR SEAL SQUEALS. I REPAIRED THE FLAPPING NOISES MYSELF AFTER THE DEALER TRIED 6 TIMES AND SAID IT WAS MY BUG DEFLECTOR. THE DOOR SEAL WAS REPLACED AFTER 6 TRIPS AND IS WORSE NOW THAN THEN. I REPAIRED THIS AS WELL AS I COULD. THEY REPLACED 1 OF 3 SEALS. AFTER 6 VISITS FOR MY GOODYEAR TIRES (NOTHING FOUND WRONG AGAIN) THEY DECIDE TO REPLACE THEM. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS TO GET TIRES AND THEN THEY REPLACED 2. THE TRANS IS CLUNKER AND HAS COMPUTER SOFTWARE ISSUES CAUSING SHIFTING PROBLEMS AND DEALER CAN NOT DUPLICATE. THE COMPUTER THINKS IT IS OK SO NO CODES WILL BE STORED. I ALSO POINTED OUT THE GM TSB'S TO THEM ON THIS PROBLEM. I MAY AS WELL GO TO THE ZOO FOR SERVICE AT LEAST I GET TO EXPECT POOR SERVICE FROM WILD ANIMALS. I WROTE THE VP OF GM AND HE RESPONDED TO ME AND FORWARDED MY LETTER TO VP OF SALES AND SERVICE. WENT BACK FOR REPAIRS AND STILL HAVE SAME PROBLEMS AND THE NEW TIRES WITH 1000 MILES ARE BAD JUST LIKE THE OTHERS. $38,000 PIECE OF JUNK WITH $3.00 HR MONKEYS REPAIRING IT. WHAT A JOKE, THEY CAN HAVE THIS TRUCK BACK SINCE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I WAS ALSO REFUSED SERVICE TWO TIMES BY MY LOCAL DEALER BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT ELSE WHERE. SERVICE MANAGER SAID: "YOU ARE NOT OUR LOYAL CUSTOMER AND IF WE DECIDE TO SERVICE YOU, YOU GO BEHIND OUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS, REGUARDLESS OF ORDER". I THINK HE MAY BE LOOKING FOR OTHER EMPLOYMENT NOW THAT THE VP CALLED ME TO DISCUSS MY CONCERNS, BUT THAT IS STILL AGAINST THE LAW AND THE GM CONTRACT. THINK I AM GOING TO JUST GET A HORSE AND WHEN IT STOPS WORKING JUST SHOOT IT.
CENTER HUB CAPS WILL NOT STAY TIGHT. HAVE HAD A LOOSENING PROBLEM SINCE NEW. DEALER PROVIDED A BAG OF NEW PLASTIC NUTS. ON LAST TRIP THE LEFT FRONT HUB CENTER CAM OFF AND ENDED UP IN THE NORTH RIM OF THE GRAND CANYON. DEALER INSTALLED A NEW CENTER HUB CAP AND ANOTHER BAG OF NUTS. SOME OF THE NEW NUTS WOULDN'T TIGHTEN AND HAD TO BE MOVED AROUND TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS TO TIGHTEN. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO THE STAINLESS OVER-LAY SPOT WELDED TO THE STEEL WHEEL, THUS LIMITING THE THREAD CONTACT WITH THE LUG NUTS. THE PLASTIC NUTS ONLY GRAB THE STEEL LUG NUT BY 1 OR 2 THREADS. MY WINDOW STICKER SAYS CHROME STYLE STEEL WHEELS. THIS STATEMENT IS MIS-LEADING. THEY ARE A STEEL WHEEL WITH A STAINLESS HUB CAP WELDED TO THE WHEEL AND A PLASTIC CENTER HUB WITH PLASTIC NUTS. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS SUPPOSE TO CHECK ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM. PLEASE NOTE: I AM A MECHANIC. I KNOW HOW TO INSTALL THESE TYPE OF CENTERS. I DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THEM AND THEY ARE INSTALLED BY HAND. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN THE TRUCK WAS NEW AND I DROVE IT HOME. I WAXED THE WHEELS AND NOTICED THE LOOSE CENTERS. THESE COULD BE DANGEROUS TO A PEDESTRIAN IF ONE FLEW OFF STRUCK THEM.
AT 6,130 MILES THE MESSAGE "CHECK 4X4" WAS DISPLAYED. AT THE SAME TIME, THE 4X4 CONTROL BUTTONS WENT INOPERABLE. THE 4X4 SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY DISABLE AND INOPERABLE. ONSTAR CONFIRMED VEHICLE REQUIRED SERVICE. REDWOOD CITY BOARDWALK FOUND "MODE SWITCH SHORTED, REPLACED MODE SWITCH" AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. DEALER REPLACED SWITCH MODULE WITH DIFFERENT COLOR (GRAY) MODULE THAN WAS PROVIDED WITH THE TRUCK NEW (BLACK), GRAY DOES NOT MATCH DASHBOARD.*AK

BOUGHT A NEW 2003 Z-71 CHEVROLET SILVERADO IN SEPT 03'. HAD A BOUNCING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT I PROBABLY NEEDED A TIRE BALANCE. SO I WENT TO THEIR TIRE SHOP. I DID THIS FIVE(5) SEPARATE TIMES. SO THEN THEY THOUGHT MAYBE A BAD TIRE. SO, I HAD ALL TIRES CHANGED. I HAVE NOW HAD THREE(3) DIFFERANT SETS OF TIRES PUT ONTO THIS VEHICLE. SO THEN I E-MAILED CHEVROLET WITH NO RESPONSE. ABOUT THREE WEEKS LATER I E-MAILED THEM AGAIN. THIS TIME I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM CHEVROLET. THEY HAD ME SET UP A RIDE ALONG WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. JUST LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE TEST DRIVE, THE SERVICE MANAGER COMMENTED ON THE VIBRATION IN HIS REAR THROUGH THE SEAT. 20 MINUTES LATER HIS COMMENT WAS "THIS WOULD DRIVE ME CRAZY!". AT THAT POINT THEY CHANGED THE REAR SHOCKS. NO HELP. SO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE WHAT WAS THEIR NEXT COARSE OF ACTION AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME HE WAS MEETING WITH HIS REP. AND A ENGINEER AND WANTED THE TRUCK BACK AGAIN THREE WEEKS LATER. SO AFTER I DROPPED IT OFF, LATER I GOT A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THERE ARE TWO SETTING ON THE FRONT END THAT THEY WANTED TO TRY. I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT ANY EXPLAINATION FROM ANYONE ABOUT WHAT WAS DONE NOW. I DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE IT BUT WAS TOLD THAT LEAVING IT THERE WOULD NOT HELP BECAUSE IF THIS DID NOT WORK THAT PRETTY MUCH TOO BAD. NO ONE HAD A SOLUTION FOR ME I WAS THEN TOLD THAT IT WAS DRIVIN' BE THE ENGINEER AND COMPARED TO SEVERAL OTHERS. THEY THEN SAID IT'S PROBABLY A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I WAS NOT GIVIN A CHANCE TO DRIVE ANY OTHER AT ANY TIME NOR DID I SEE ANY 2003 Z-71'S ON THEIR LOT. SO WHAT DID THEY COMPARE IT TO AND WHY WASN'T I GIVIN AN OPORTUNITY TO DRIVE ANOTHER?? I ALSO WORK ON A USED CAR LOT MYSELF AND HAVE DRIVEN 2 OTHER 2003 Z-71'S WHICH WE HAD AND ONE WAS LIFTED. NEITHER HAD THE BOUNCE MINE HAS.
