THE CLUSTER THE GAGES STOP WORKING THE TAC, OIL PRESSURE, BATTERY THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEM.ONE BY ONE GAGE STOP WORKING.
MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD 4WD LONG BED PICKUP TRUCK EXPERIENCED COMPLETE FAILURE OF (HYDRAULIC BOOST) BRAKE SYSTEM AT 35 MPH. BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED HEAVILY AND CONDITION OF BRAKE LINES VERIFIED BY GM DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE IS REGISTERED AND DRIVEN PRIMARILY IN VIRGINIA. OWNER HAS NEVER RECEIVED ANY COMMUNICATION FROM MANUFACTURER REGARDING POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. *TR
MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS NOW HAD 3 BRAKE LINE FAILURES RESULTING IN NO ABILITY TO USE THE BRAKES. THE LAST FAILURE OCCURRED ON MAY 10, 2014 WHILE DRIVING IN A SUBURBAN AREA. LUCKILY, IT WAS LATE IN THE EVENING WITH NO TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY FILED A COMPLAINT (10567344) AFTER MY LAST FAILURE IN DECEMBER 2013. UPDATED 11/24/2014 *JS
VEHICLE WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, I LOST CONSCIOUSNESS & DO NOT REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT THE CRASH EARLY ON. WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE ROLLED FRONT TO REAR 1 1/2 TO 2 1/2 TIMES, PRIOR TO COMING TO REST ON ITS TOP. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THIS ACCIDENT. I SPENT 3 DAYS IN ICU AND AM NOW RECUPERATING AT HOME. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DUE TO THIS ACCIDENT . THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE ACCIDENT. *TR
TRUCK COLIDED WITH GUARD RAIL. BOUNCED OFF, HIT VEHICLE 1, THEN INTO VEHICLE 2 THEN STOPPED AFTER HITTING VEHICLE 3 A SEMI TRUCK. ALL DAMAGE WAS DONE TO FRONT OF THE CHEVY SILVERADO. AT NO TIME DID THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY. SILVERADO WAS DETERMINED TO BE TOTALED DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE DAMAGE ON THE FRONT. AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED DURING ONE OF THE IMPACTS. *JS
WHILE DRIVING, MY BRAKES SUDDENLY STARTED GOING SOFT. I STARTED PUMPING THE BRAKES WITHOUT ANY IMPROVEMENT. I WAS IN A PANIC BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC WITH MY BASS BOAT. I WASN'T SURE I WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP, I HIT MY PARK BRAKE, THEN BRAKE FAIL INDICATOR ALARMS SOUNDED, I USED MY GEAR SHIFT JERKING IT INTO REVERSE BUT HIT ANOTHER CAR. I HAD NO PRIOR NOTICE OR PROBLEM. AFTER GETTING OUT OF EMERGENCY CARE. I OPENED MY HOOD, AND NOTED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR TO BE COMPLETELY EMPTY. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE SHOP, AND THEY NOTED MY BRAKE LINES TO BE RUSTED. TO REPLACE IT COST ME $1270.43. NOW I SEE WHERE YOU INVESTIGATED THIS AND FAILED TO ORDER RECALL. WHY HAVE THE NHTSA IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PROTECT US, THE PUBLIC. *TR
ONE OF THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINES IN FRONT OF THE ABS MODULE BURST DUE TO CORROSION CAUSING LOSS OF ALL BRAKE FLUID. THIS WAS SUDDEN WITH NO WARNING, NO LIGHTS TO WARN OF BRAKE FLUID LOSS. .EA11001. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BROKEN OFF IN BLOCK CAUSING EXHAUST LEAKS AND MANY OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS COMPUTER GETTING MIXED SIGNALS, O2 SENSOR AND WILL CAUSE MOTOR TO GO BAD IN TIME. *TR
SLOWLY LOSING BRAKES SOFT BRAKE PEDAL NO WARNING LIGHT. DROVE TO DEALER, TOLD ME RUSTY LEAKING BRAKE LINES ' WOULD COST ME $991.00 TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES. I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT PAY THAT, I ASK ABOUT A RECALL WITH NO AVAIL, THEY LET ME DRIVE IT HOME, BY THE TIME I GOT THERE I HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL, THE LIGHT FINALLY CAME. I AM THE ORGINAL OWNER. I CAN NOT DRIVE THIS TRUCK, IT WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED TO DEALER SERVICE DEPT. NOW. *TR
THE BOLTS ARE BROKEN OFF IN THE MANIFOLD, AFTER CHECKING YOU-TUBE I FOUND THIS IS A PROBLEM THE GM HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE BRAKE WARNING LAMP AND THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE KEY BACK AND FORTH IN THE IGNITION SWITCH NUMEROUS TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. THE CONTACT ALSO HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL UPON MAKING A TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED VIOLENTLY AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,829.
WHILE DRIVING HOME ON 5/1/2014 TRAFFIC STOPPED SHORT. I HIT THE BRAKES TO STOP. THE TRUCK STOPPED OK. TRAVELED ABOUT ANOTHER 2 BLOCKS AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE PEDEL TO STOP. IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I AD NO BRAKES. I HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP, AFTER THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE RUSTED, BROKEN BRAKE LINE. THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK NOT TO STOP. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOUND UP TOTALING THE TRUCK DUE TO THE DAMAGE. *TR
ELECTRICAL DASH BOARD INCLUDING SPEEDOMETER AND ALL GAUGES AND ETC., INTERMEDIATELY DOES NOT WORK. SOMETIMES THE DASHBOARD IS NOT WORKING, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHEN IT COMES BACK ON WORKING. IT'S GETTING WORSE. IS THERE A RECALL FOR THE ELECTRICAL DASHBOARD? *TR
IN APPROXIMATELY MAY OF 2014 I HOOKED MY 2003 SILVERADO UP TO MY CAMPER TO PULL IT. WHEN I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID RUNNING OUT OF THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE LINE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO JENNINGS CHEVROLET IN CHAMBERSBURG, PA FOR REPAIR WHICH COST MORE THAN $400. THEN LAST NIGHT MY SON WAS USING THE TRUCK AND HE CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT WHILE HE WAS DRIVING IT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO STOP. HE WAS ABLE TO GET TO A STORE TO BUY BRAKE FLUID. HE SAID THE TRUCK IS LEAKING FROM A REAR BRAKE LINE THIS TIME. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AGAIN. I'M HOPING THAT SOMETHING CAN BE DONE REGARDING THIS ISSUE AS I'VE NEVER HAD THE BRAKE LINE FAIL ON THE SAME VEHICLE TWICE, EVEN A VEHICLE 12 YEARS OLD. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
FIRST COMPLAINT FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS REPORTED ON 10/21/10. COMPLAINT #10361641. SAME PROBLEM AGAIN DTR LIGHT ON RIGHT SIDE OUT,SMELLED BURNING WIRE SAW THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. WIRES LEADING TO LIGHT ASSEMBLY MELTED AND ALSO MELTED THE SOCKET AGAIN. I THINK THIS COULD POSSIBLY LEAD TO SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I FIXED THE PROBLEM MYSELF THE FIRST TIME AND WILL DO SO THIS TIME. *JS
WENT TO BACK UP AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE WAS CORRODED THROUGH AND ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT. *JS
DURING COMMUTE TO WORK ON 22 APRIL 2014, AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT AND PRESSED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN, THE MAIN CONSOLE CHIMED, SHOWED A MESSAGE TO CHECK BRAKES, AND I WAS ABLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE LEVER TO THE FLOOR. I WAS STILL ABLE TO STOP PRIOR TO REACHING THE STOPLIGHT. I SLOWLY RETURNED HOME (ABOUT A MILE) AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK NEARBY, THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NO LONGER ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE WHILE IN DRIVE. WHEN PLACED ON THE FLATBED TOW TRUCK, THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING ONTO THE BED. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE MECHANICS STATED THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND THE ENTIRE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEHIND THE MASTER CYLINDER. ADDITIONALLY, I HAD ASKED THEM TO INSPECT WHY I SOMETIMES HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE WHICH WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THIS COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE FUEL TANK (DUE TO CORROSION), AND I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TANK SYSTEM TO REPLACE THE PUMP. *TR
HAD TO MAKE QUICK STOP AND REQUIRED ME TO STEP ON BRAKES FAIRLY HARD. BLEW A BRAKE LINE AND LOST ALL BRAKES. WAS ABLE TO SERVE TO AVOID ACCIDENT, AND THEN USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP MYSELF. HAD TRUCK TAKEN TO SHOP, ALL BRAKE LINES WERE EXTREMELY RUSTED AND REQUIRED REPLACING. $1000+ JOB. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY FAMILY ABOARD AT THE SPEED AROUND 75+ MPH AND SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOOSES SPEED WHILE TRAVELING AMONG OTHERS AT AROUND THE SAME SPEED OR HIGHER WHEN SUDDENLY THE SPEED DECREASES TO NO SPEED, AND A THIS WARNING COMES ACROSS THE DASH PANEL, THAT SAYS REDUCED SPEED AND ALL THESE 18 WHEELERS ARE BEHIND ME AND AROUND ME. THE MORE I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IT WOULD DO NOTHING BUT ALMOST COST MY WIFE A HEART ATTACK FROM THE BIG TRUCKS BLOWING THERE HORN AND FEARING THE DAY LIGHTS OUT OF MY FAMILY. THEN A WEEK LATER THE CLUSTER STARTS ACTING ALL CRAZY WITH THE LIGHTS GOING OUT AND ON, AND NOW THEY AREN'T WORKING AT ALL. THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING THE SPEED ALONG WITH GAS GAUGES ETC... WHILE I HAVE NEVER OWNED ANYTHING OTHER THAN "CHEVY'S", TRUCKS AND CARS I HAVE SERIOUSLY BEEN CONSIDERING ANOTHER NAME & MAKE IN MY NEXT CHOICE OF PURCHASE.... SO A LOYAL FRIEND ADVISED ME TO SEND GM A E-MAIL EXPLAINING MY ISSUES... *TR
ABS LIGHT CAME ON AT START UP DID NOT GO OUT, GOT BACK HOME NOTICED SPONGY PEDAL PARKED NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAK ON GROUND APPEARS TO BE LEAKING FROM LINE AROUND ABS UNIT UNDER TRUCK, ALMOST ALL BRAKE LINES ARE SUFFERING FROM SEVERE CORROSION AND NEED REPLACED, SAFETY SENSITIVE ITEMS SUCH AS BRAKE LINES NEED TO BE BETTER PROTECTED FROM CORROSION. *TR
ROCKER PANELS AND CAB CORNER RUSTED OUT, WAS ABLE TO PUSH MY FINGER THROUGH THE PAINT. HAD THEM REPLACED IN SPRING OF 2014. REPLACED A REAR BRAKE LINE AT THE TIME DUE TO EASE OF ACCESS WITH BOX REMOVED. SPRING OF 2016, I HAD A FRONT BRAKE LINE FAIL WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. HAD ENOUGH BRAKING LEFT TO STOP INT TIME. REPLACED FRONT BRAKE LINES DUE TO RUST. REAR SECTION OF FRAME IS RUSTING ALONG WITH LINES ON DIESEL FUEL COOLER AND FRONT CONTROL ARMS. THIS IS NOT MY PRIMARY VEHICLE. WE USE IT FOR TRIPS AND TO PULL OUR CAMPER. I HAVE TRIED TO DRIVE IT AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE ON SALTY AND SLOPPY ROADS. THE PAINT ON OUTSIDE AND THE INTERIOR LOOKS GREAT. I AM CONCERNED ON HOW MUCH LONGER IT WILL BE SAFE TO DRIVE AND TOW.
BRAKE LINES FUEL LINES AND TRANS LINES ALL RUSTED OUT THE TRUCK IS RUST FREE BODY AND FRAME THE LINES ARE FAULTY AS THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS. *JS
WHILE PARKED, I PUT THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR AND PRESSED THE BRAKE. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE BRAKE PRESSURE AND MY SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE ACTIVATED AS WELL AS THE BRAKE LIGHT. BRAKE FLUID IS SQUIRTING OUT OF A METAL BRAKE LINE IN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK, JUST ABOVE THE DRIVER REAR TIRE. *TR
I STARTED TO LEAVE MY HOME AND THE REAR BRAKE LINE FAILED. NO SLOW LEAK, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. NO SIGN OF LEAKAGE. IT COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE LINE IS VERY CORRODED. DEALER TOLD ME 2200.00 TO REPAIR. *TR

AS I ENTERED THE DRIVEWAY, MY PEDAL WAS AGAINST THE FLOOR, AND MY TRUCK WAS ABLE TO STOP JUST SHY OF MY CLOSED GARAGE DOOR. ONCE I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, THE BRAKE FAIL INDICATOR ALARMS SOUNDED, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE WHEN THE BRAKES ACTUALLY STARTED TO FAIL. I OPENED MY HOOD, AND NOTED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR TO BE COMPLETELY EMPTY. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE SHOP, AND THEY NOTED MY BRAKE LINES TO BE RUSTED. I LIVE IN FLORIDA, AND WE DON'T USE ROAD SALT, SO I CANNOT EXPLAIN WHY THE LINES ARE ALL COMPLETELY RUSTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TACHOMETER DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS AND FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A DOWN HILL ROAD WITH A STOP SIGN AT THE BOTTOM. I BEGAN TO PRESS THE BRAKE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK STOPPED AND ENDED UP IN AN EMPTY FIELD TO AVOID A WRECK WITH IMPACT. THERE WAS A HUGE WET SPOT ON THE STREET WHERE BY BRAKES FAILED. VERY SCARY WITH MY YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALL RUSTED AND HAD GIVEN WAY. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP (AND THE INTERNET) THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. I AM ALSO NOW HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY INSTRUMENT PANEL GOING CRAZY. THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SAY I AM TRAVELING 110 WHEN I AM ROLLING UP TO A STOP SIGN. THE FAN BLOWER WILL BE ON 0 AND IT WILL BLOW OUT AT FULL FORCE AND WILL NOT TURN OFF, EVEN AFTER THE ENGINE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THIS ULTIMATELY RESULTS IN A DEAD BATTERY. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE SEVERAL JUMP STARTS. THIS ISSUE ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC IS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, MY VIN # PRODUCES NO RESULTS FOR RECALLS. SO LIKE MY SILVERADO BREAK DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ISSUES, THE SEARCH RESULTS HAVE LEFT ME STRANDED AS WELL, ONLY THIS TIME I AM NOT WALKING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY SMALL CHILDREN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE BRAKING FOR AN EXIT, THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AS THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE BRAKE LINES, WHICH WERE FOUND TO BE CORRODED, AND CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
HAD A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WHILE PULLING INTO MAY DRIVEWAY STOPPED VEHICLE WITH PARKING BRAKE. METAL BRAKE LINES HAD FAILED ALL BRAKES LINES WERE RUSTED/CORRODED AND THE ENTIRE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED (ALL METAL LINES) AT A SUBSTANTIAL COST. *TR
BRAKE LINES ROTED OUT TOTAL SYSTEM FAILED NO BRAKES GOT TO STOP ON E BRAKE CLAMPED LINE ADDED FLUID TO GET HOME CHANGED ALL LINES. *TR
A FRIEND WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. HE WAS ONLY GOING 20 MPH WHEN THE GAS LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE NEEDLE SAID IT HAD HALF A TANK. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RADIO LOCKED UP AND ALL THE NEEDLES ON THE DASH STARTED GOING CRAZY ALL THE EMBLEMS ON THE DASH LITE UP. WE PARKED AND TURNED OFF THE TRUCK. AS SOON AS WE WENT TO TURN BACK WE HAD JUST STARTED IT NOT EVEN 3 MINUTES LATER ALL OF THE GAUGES AND LIGHTS ON THE TRUCK IT STARTED FREAKING OUT AGAIN AND NOW THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR AND WINDOW CONTROL WOULD NO LONGER WORK. EARLIER THAT DAY I HAD TAKEN IT IN A REPUTABLE SHOP TO GET THE TRUCK SMOGGED AND GET IT CHECKED OUT. THE TRUCK PASSED SMOG AND THEY SAID THE TRUCK HAD NO PROBLEMS. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAD EVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS. *TR
WHEN STARTING UP TRUCK I HEAR A CLICKING SOUND THEN IT GOES AWAY. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. *TR
THIS STARTED IN 2007 WITH THE PURCHASE OF GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES. THEY HAVE FAILED IN 2009 (PAID TO REPLACE), 2013, 2014. THESE TIRE ARE USED ON MY2003 CHEVROLET 2500 DIESEL PICKUP AND WE PULL A 5TH WHEEL. THE TIRES CONTINUE TO SEPARATE AND THE LAST INCIDENT WAS ON MARCH 6TH, 2014. THIS HAS NOT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT BUT IT COULD. WE WERE TRAVELING TO PHOENIX AZ FROM GRAPEVINE, TX WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE SEPARATED. WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT BETWEEN ALBUQUERQUE NM AND GRANTS NM. THE TIRE WAS INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE IN SEP 2012 AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 18000 MILES. IN AUGUST OF 2013 I HAD TO REPLACE 3 MORE TIRES BECAUSE OF TREAD SEPARATION. GOODYEAR WILL REPLACE THEM FOR A PRICE AND IT'S STARTING TO GET VERY COSTLY. THEY REIMBURSE FOR ABOUT 20% OF THE COST OF A TIRE. I WILL BUY NEW TIRES BUT NOT GOODYEAR. THEY ARE DANGEROUS. *TR
I GOT OFF INTERSTATE HIT MY BRAKES TO STOP AT LIGHT WHEN I HIT MY BRAKES IT MADE A NOISE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR IN THE REAR HAD TO RUN A STOP LIGHT BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T STOP SOME ONE COULD HAVE BEEN HURT BAD THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE. I WAS TOLD MY BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED WHICH I HAD IT REPLACED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO AND MY ABS LIGHTS COME ON AND IT DINGS. *TR
WHILE MY TRUCK WAS BEING SERVICED, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE STEEL HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND RUSTED AT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRAME. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE LINES COULD RUPTURE AT ANY TIME DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF HEAVY RUSTING. THE BRAKE LINES APPEARED TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE WHEN VIEWING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WELL, BUT ON CLOSER EXAMINATION, WHERE THE LINES COME DOWN THE FIREWALL AND TRANSITION TO ON TOP OF THE FRAME RAIL (BELOW DRIVER'S FEET) IS WHERE THE EXTREME RUSTING HAD OCCURRED. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR REPLACEMENT BRAKE LINES, I WAS MADE AWARE OF THE SCOPE OF THIS ISSUE AND THE VEHICLES INVOLVED WITH THIS ISSUE. I WAS SHOCKED THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS ISSUED FOR BRAKE LINES FAILING SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE INSPECTING MY VEHICLE, I HAVE INSPECTED SEVERAL OTHER FRIENDS VEHICLES IN THE AFFECTED MODEL YEARS WITH ALL OF THE VEHICLES HAVING EXTREME CORROSION OF THE BRAKE LINES. I FEEL THAT THIS IS VERY WIDESPREAD IN THE RUST BELT STATES, BUT THAT NUMEROUS OWNERS ARE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM START GOING OUT LAST WEEK. TOOK IT TO MY GMC DEALER , WHERE I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE FROM. THEY STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND THE ISSUE IS SO EXTENSIVE THAT THEY CANNOT DO WORK TO IT. I NEED TO FIND AN INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP. BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED. LEFT REAR LINE BUSTED WHILE GOING 60 MPH AND LOST ALL BRAKING ABILITY. LUCKILY I HAD ENOUGH TIME TO APPLY MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED! *TR
WHEN I TURN THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL ON, IT SOMETIMES WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. SOMETIMES IT TURNS BOTH TURN SIGNALS ON LIKE THE HAZARDS. IF I HAVE MY CRUISE SET AND USE THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL, IT SHUTS THE CRUISE OFF. TR
AFTER MAKING A PANIC STOP, THE DASHBOARD BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ALERTING ME TO HAVE BRAKES SERVICED. PULLED IN TO PARKING LOT (AFTER THE LIGHT) AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE TRUCK FROM THE BRAKE LINES LEADING INTO THE ABS CONTROLLER AND FROM A SHARP BEND IN THE LINE THAT OPERATES THE REAR AXLE. LINES HAD RUSTED AND LEAKED BRAKE FLUID. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO DOWN THE ROAD AND WHEN I WENT TO SLOW DOWN MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AFTER GETTING PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT I INSPECTED THE LINES AND SAW THAT THEY ALL HAD BUSTED AND WERE ALL VERY RUSTY I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE STATED IT WASN'T WORTH FIXING DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE FRAME AND GAS LINES IT WOULD COST MORE THAN THE TRUCK WAS WORTH. *TR
THE BRAKE LINES ON THIS TRUCK ARE SO RUSTED SO ARE THE FUEL LINES I'M SURPRISED EVEN STOPS OR THAT THE FUEL LINES HAVEN'T BURST YET I HAVE ABS LIGHT ON AND SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS SO RUSTED AND NOW HAVE A SHORT SOMEWHERE SO ANYTIME YOU HIT A BUMP WARNING LIGHT FLASHES AND IT STARTS DINGING AND WARNING LIGHTS FLASHES SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM... THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS TO BE RUSTED LIKE IT DOES THIS VEHICLE IS WASHED AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK IT IS IN IMMACULATE SHAPE. *TR
STARTED THE TRUCK AND PUT INTO REVERSE. THERE WAS NO BRAKE AND NO STEERING CONTROL. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ALL FLUIDS WERE TOPPED OFF AS NORMAL AND I REGULARLY MAINTAIN THIS VEHICLE. AFTER REVIEWING THIS ISSUE IN THE DIESEL FORUM NUMEROUS DURAMAX OWNERS HAVE ENDURED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SOME ENDING IN CRASHES. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!! SIMULTANEOUS BRAKE AND STEERING FAILURE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WOW! I TRIED CHATTING WITH GM AND WAS DUMPED DURING THE CHAT. NO HELP THERE! I'LL TRY AGAIN! *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,568. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, HE NOTICED A TICKING SOUND FROM THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE BECAME LOUDER AND THE CONTACT LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE BEARING AND TIMING CHAIN WERE DAMAGED. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSFER CASE DID NOT CONTAIN ANY FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
WHILE MOVING FORWARD IN LINE AT A DRIVE THROUGH MY BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY WHEN STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD BARELY STOP MY TRUCK. BY THE TIME I RETURNED HOME I HAD TO BRAKE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I THEN HAD IT TOWED TO 4 DIFFERENT MECHANICS WHO WOULD NOT FIX MY BRAKES FOR UNDER $4000 DOLLARS DUE TO LIABILITY REASONS. APPARENTLY THE "STAINLESS STEEL" HARD LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD ALL RUSTED OUT COMPLETELY. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD FAR AWAY FROM HOME THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
WENT TO PARK MY TRUCK AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, TRIED TO PUMP THE PEDAL BUT IT STILL WENT TO THE FLOOR. SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND LOOKED AT THE UNDER SIDE AND SEEN BRAKE FLUID RUNNING OUT OF A BRAKE LINE. AND I LOOKED A LITTLE CLOSER AND SEEN THAT MOST OF THE BRAKE LINE UNDER THE TRUCK WERE RUSTED VERY BAD. HAD TO HAVE MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE SHOP TO BE FIXED. THEY SAID THAT ALL MY BRAKE LINE MUST BE REPLACED OR I COULD HAVE A BAD WRECK. AND THE PRICE. NOT GOOD. *TR
UPON LEAVING MY HOUSE IN SAID TRUCK YESTERDAY, 12/14/2014, FORTUNATELY I WAS STILL WITHIN MY SUBDIVISION, I EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE, WITH THE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED THE TRUCK WAS A SNOW BANK. THE SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE DISPLAYED AT THE SAME TIME. THERE WAS NO PRIOR INDICATION OR WARNING THAT MY BRAKES WERE GETTING READY TO FAIL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK BACK INTO MY DRIVE WAY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND CALLED AAA. THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID EVERYWHERE UNDER THE TRUCK. THEY TOWED MY TRUCK TO AAA CARE IN FREDERICKSBURG, VA WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THE HOLE IN THE LINE DUE TO RUST. THEY REPLACED THE LINE FROM THE LF WHEEL TO THE ABS PUMP WITH TOTAL REPAIRS COMING TO $415. THEY ALSO ADVISED ME THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTING AND COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME. I UNDERSTAND THE TRUCK IS 11 YEARS OLD HOWEVER I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND ALWAYS WASHED AND MAINTAINED VEHICLE INCLUDING UNDERCARRIAGE CLEANING. *TR
