TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE THE GEAR SHIFTER BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
THE LINE RUNNING FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE RADIATOR IS EXTREMELY PRONE TO LEAKING DUE TO A WEAK/IMPROPER CRIMP IN THE HOSE. AS TIME GOES ON TRANSMISSION FLUID IS DEPLETED AND COULD LEAD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE LEAK IS WIDESPREAD ACROSS MOST ALLISON TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO A FAULTY HOSE CRIMP AND LEAKS THROUGH THE CRIMP IN THE HOSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 4 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD POPPING SOUND AS THE CLUTCH PEDAL SANK INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HOUSING FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE HOUSING AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIVE AS NORMAL. AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF, THE CONTACT REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE DRIVE GEAR. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
I BOUGHT MY CHEVY 3500 DUALLY 4X4 TO DRIVE WHEN I NEEDED IT TO HAUL THINGS OR FOR THE 4WD . I TOLD MY DAUGHTER IT WAS GOING TO SNOW AND MAKE THE ROADS DANGEROUS SO I WOULD TAKE HER TO WORK AND PICK HER UP WHEN SHE WAS DONE EVERYTHING WENT WELL NO SIGNS OF ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE AND AFTER I HAD TAKEN HER TO WORK SO WHEN SHE CALLED I WENT TO PICK HER UP AT WORK AND HAD TO WAIT A LITTLE WHILE FOR HER TO FINISH UP AFTER I HAD GOTTEN TO HER WORK THEN I DROVE HER HOME AND JUST AFTER GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE WE PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND I PULLED UP TO THE HOUSE AND ALMOST WENT THROUGH MY GARAGE DOOR WHEN MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AT ABOUT 10-15 MPH WITH ABSOLUTLY NO WARNING WHAT SO EVER I WOULD HAVE NEVER USED THE TRUCK IF I HAD REMOTELY THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES I DRIVE SEMI TRUCKS FOR A LIVING AND ALWAYS CHECK THINGS AROUND MY VEHICLES BY SECOND NATURE SINCE I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLES I DRIVE. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW AND TOLD THEM I HAD CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THAT I TOLD THEM I EXPECTED IT TO BE REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE AND GM RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY WANTED THE DEALER TO EVALUATE IT AND THE EVALUATION WOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE THEY DID AND THEY FOUND THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED IN HALF AND ALSO BUSTED AT THE RUBBER HOSE CONNECTIONS SO GM SAID THAT THEY WOULD COVER 30% OF THE REPAIR OF THE BRAKE LINES IN WHICH THEY DID BUT IT STILL COST ME $1800 . GM INSISTED THAT MY BRAKE LINES RUSTED IN HALF BECAUSE MY TRUCK SITS A LOT I TOLD THEM I HAVE A 1990 MAZDA I BOUGHT NEW THAT SITS BESIDE IT THAT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SAFETY PROBLEMS OUT OF . GM ALSO HAS CHANGED THE BRAKE LINES TO A PLASTIC COATED LINE . I HAD ALSO TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS A POOR DESIGN WHERE THE WATER RAN OFF THE WINDSHIELD AND DOWN ONTO THE BRAKE LINES RIGHT WHERE THEY RUSTED AND BROKE GM NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT. *TR
BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THEY FAIL AND RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD TO BE USED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED ONE OF THE FUEL LINES. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
PURCHASED A SET OF 4 .FEDERAL COURAGIA MT 33/12.50/20 FROM SD WHEELCORP IN APRIL 2012. AFTER APPROX 16000 MILES 2 OF THE FOUR HAVE TREAD/BELT SEPARATION CREATING BUBBLES ON THE TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ROTATED AND CORRECT PRESSURE WAS MAINTAINED. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE AND POSSIBLY DEADLY TIRE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *JS
BRAKE LINES HAD HOLES IN THEM CAUSED BY CORROSION,FUEL LINE ALSO. NOTICED PROBLEM BEFORE ANYTHING SERIOUS HAPPENED. COST OVER 1000.00 TO REPLACE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES. *TR
HAPPENED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THANKFULLY. BRAKE PEDAL SPONGY, PUSHED AGAIN AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND FOUND A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE. FURTHER INSPECTION, THE BRAKE LINE HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS SPRAYING FLUID WHEN THE PEDAL WAS PUSHED. COMPLETE FAILURE OF BRAKES. THANK GOODNESS FOR THE E BRAKE. *TR

THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE CAME TO COMPLETE STOP AFTER THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE BRAKE LINES. THE CONTACT ADDED MORE BRAKE FLUID INTO THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE FAULTY DUE TO THE SALT DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 114,937.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AFTER REFUELING, HE NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FRONT FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE COULD HEAR THE REAR PUMP RUNNING AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO INSPECT THE FUEL CAB, IT SPEW DIESEL ALL OVER HIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,621.
WHILE TRAVELING ALONG RT 80 IN NEW JERSEY AT 65 MPH, TRAFFIC BEGAN TO SLOW IN ALL LANES. I HIT MY BRAKES ONLY TO FIND THAT MY FOOT WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND HAD POSSIBLY 10% BRAKING ABILITY REMAINING TO STOP THE TRUCK. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO AVOID CONTACTING THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME BY DOWNSHIFTING, USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND RUNNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER AND OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE CLOSEST REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. AS A RESULT, WHEN I HIT MY BRAKES, THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED CAUSING THE LACK OF PEDDLE PRESSURE AND DID NOT OPERATE THE BRAKES PROPERLY. I HAD NO PREVIOUS WARNING THAT THERE WAS ANY BRAKE PROBLEMS. ADDITIONALLY, THE GAS LINES WERE CORRODED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THIS IS AN ADDITIONAL HAZARD THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THE CORRODED BRAKE LINE ISSUE IS A WELL KNOWN (EXCEPT TO ME PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT) AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM OF WHICH CHEVROLET REFUSES TO NOTIFY VEHICLE OWNERS. THE FIRST TIME OWNERS ARE AWARE OF THE BRAKE LINE PROBLEM IS WHEN THEY TRY TO STOP THE TRUCK AND BY THAT POINT, IT IS TOO LATE. *TR

WHILE STOPPING FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT, BRAKES WERE WEAK AND REQUIRED EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO ACTIVATE ENOUGH TO STOP VEHICLE. PULLED INTO NEAREST PARKING LOT AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM CHASSIS UNDER DRIVER DOOR AREA. CALLED TOW TRUCK TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER. TRIED TO MOVE VEHICLE TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR TOW TRUCK OPERATOR TO HOOK UP AND PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING EFFECT. USED PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. DEALER SAID ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WE WERE GETTING READY FOR A LONG TRIP (MARYLAND TO FLORIDA). WE HITCHED OUR TRAILER TO OUR TRUCK AND WERE TESTING LIGHTS, BRAKES, ETC. AT THE CAMPGROUND BEFORE WE LEFT. AS WE TESTED THE BRAKES AT A LOW SPEED, WE REALIZED THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK AT ALL. WE PARKED IT RIGHT THERE ON THE ROAD IN THE CAMPGROUND AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE US TO OUR MECHANIC'S SHOP. WHEN HE LOOKED AT IT, HE FOUND HE HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE TUBING BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL RUSTED OUT. HAD WE BEEN ON THE ROAD WITH OUR TRAILER, WE WOULD HAVE HAD A CRASH AND COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SEVERELY HURT.

CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD (2006) WAS PURCHASED NEW, FROM GENGRAS CHEVROLET-585 CONNECTICUT BLVD.- EAST HARTFORD, CT. 06108- TELEPHONE # 860-528-2575. BRAKE LINE RUPTURED DUE TO CORROSION, FORTUNATELY, VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED AT A SLOW SPEED (25) MPH. UPON INSPECTION OF UNDER THE VEHICLE, I WAS APPALLED AT THE CONDITION OF BRAKE LINES,FITTINGS,BRACKETS AND RELATED COMPONENTS. THE RUST ON THE UNDERSIDE INCLUDING THE FRAME WAS SUCH THAT IT COULD BE FLAKED OFF IN 1/16" THICK CHUNKS. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY 9028 MILES, WHAT KIND OF AUTO INDUSTRY DO WE HAVE !!!!! ? I WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS CORROSION PROBLEM (THAT CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF) BY A LOCAL AUTO MECHANIC THAT THIS CORROSION PROBLEM WAS IN PRIMARILY (2004-2005-2006) SILVERADOS. THE MATERIALS GM IS USING TO CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS IS A DISGUSTING SAMPLE OF OUR MANUFACTURING SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTDOORS (ON A ASPHALT DRIVEWAY). THE REPAIRS FOR THIS SITUATION ARE IN LINE WITH THE POOR QUALITY MATERIALS THAT WERE USED, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE BODY OF THE TRUCK BED HAD TO BE REMOVED (LIFTED-OFF) TO ACCESS BRAKE LINES AND GET THIS, THE FUEL LINE IS ALSO IN THE SAME LOCATION, MIGHT BE SUSPECT TO CORROSION. THE COST OF THESE REPAIRS IS OFF THE CHARTS. (WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE DESIGN FLAWS). AS AN AMERICAN, WHO ADVOCATES BUYING DOMESTIC VEHICLES, I WONDER WHO IS WATCHING WHAT IS GOING ON. I HOPE SOMEONE OF AUTHORITY READS THIS AND ACTS ON IT, BEFORE IT IS TO LATE FOR ALL OF US. REMEMBER, THIS VEHICLE HAS (9028) MILES ON IT, AND EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP, THE ANTI-BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY AND CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FOR THE ABS SYSTEM IS AFFECTED ON MULTIPLE TRUCKS CHEVY PRODUCED FROM 99-06. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKING BELOW 10 MPH TO CAUSE PULSATION AND ABS MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING ME TO ALMOST REAR END VEHICLES AND BE UNABLE TO SLOW DOWN CORRECTLY. CHEVY KNOWS OF THE ISSUE YET IT IS NOT A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. *TR
STEPPED ON THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO EXIT THE ROAD AND, UPON INSPECTION, SAW FLUID LEAKING FROM A HEAVILY CORRODED FRONT LEFT BRAKE LINE. I HAD TO HAVE BOTH FRONT BRAKE LINES REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT A VERY SIGNIFICANT COST. I HAVE N EVER HAD A CORRODED BRAKE LINE ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE. I BELIEVE GM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM ? IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY THE USE OF INFERIOR MATERIALS OR IMPROPER BRAKE LINE PLACEMENT/LAYOUT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO CLEARED THE CODE FROM THE COMPUTER BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOLENOID EVAPORATION EM HAD BEEN MODIFIED AND THAT THE SOLENOID EVAPORATION EM, THE CANISTER EVAPORATION EMI, THE SOLENOID, THE GAS CAP, THE CANISTER PURGE, THE FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR, AND THE TUBING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MIELAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS GOING BACK TO MY JOB LOCATION AFTER LEAVING A TRAINING CLASS. APPLIED BRAKES AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. BRAKE PEDAL HAD NO RESISTANCE AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY, I WAS ON SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY SO THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 15. WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO FOUND A RUPTURED BRAKE LINE. HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT ALL BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND WHILE HE COULD NOT SAY ANOTHER ONE WILL RUPTURE TOMORROW, HE FELT TO BE SAFE THEY SHOULD ALL BE REPLACED. WE TOW A CAMPER WITH THIS TRUCK AND WHILE I KNOW THE CAMPER'S BRAKES WILL STOP THE TRUCK, SOME OF THE CAMPGROUND WE VISIT ARE MOUNTAIN CAMPGROUNDS WITH STEEP GRADES AND WHEN WE LEAVE THE CAMPGROUND TO DO SOMETHING (EXAMPLE: GO OUT TO EAT), NOT KNOWING IF THE TRUCK BRAKES WILL WORK IS NOT VERY COMFORTING. *TR
UPON DRIVING HOME ON MY STREET MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. HAVE BREAK LINE CORRODED AND LEAKING BELOW DRIVER SIDE DOOR. WAS ABLE TO STOP SAFELY AS I WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD WITH A LOW SPEED LIMIT. *TR

I HAVE FOUND THAT THE STEEL LINES RUNNING ALONG THE FRAME RAILS ARE RUSTING AND FOUND A PATCH IN ONE PLACE AND THE POSSIBILITY OF MORE LEAKS HAPPENING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH THE REAR BRAKES FAILED. UPON INVESTIGATION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REAR BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED OUT AT THE CONNECTION TO THE SPLITTER LOCATED ON FRAME ABOVE THE REAR AXLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, STEPPED ON THE BRAKES. UPON DOING SO, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE PEDAL, AND DRIVE INTO THE NEXT PARKING LOT. I WALKED AROUND TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK, WHERE I SAW A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK, AND SAW THE FLUID LEAKING FROM A HEAVILY CORRODED BRAKE LINE. WHEN I GOT THE TRUCK HOME, I DID A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION, AND DISCOVERED THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE HEAVILY CORRODED, AND WOULD NEED REPLACEMENT. I ORDERED AN AFTERMARKET, PRE-BENT STAINLESS LINE KIT. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE LEAKING LINE, AND A FEW OTHERS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPLACE THE LINES GOING INTO THE ABS MODULE DUE TO THEIR LOCATION ON TOP OF THE FRAME, UNDER THE CAB. I AM ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK NOW, BUT WILL NEED TO FIND ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO IS WILLING TO SEPARATE THE CAB FROM THE FRAME TO REPLACE THE REST OF THE LINES. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS, AND NONE HAVE EVER HAD A CORRODED BRAKE LINE. THE LAST TRUCK I OWNED WAS A 1993 CHEVY SILVERADO, WHICH I HAD FOR 15 YEARS, AND RACKED UP 300,000 MILES, WITH NO BRAKE OR FLUID LINE ISSUES, AND DRIVEN IN THE SAME NORTHEAST CLIMATE AS THE 2006 SILVERADO. JUDGING BY THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ONLINE, DESCRIBING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING, I BELIEVE GM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THE USE OF INFERIOR MATERIALS. *TR
RETURNING HOME, I APPROACHED A 4-WAY STOP AT ABOUT 40 MPH. ATTEMPTED TO STOP, ONLY LIMITED BRAKES. GEARING DOWN AND DEFENSIVE DRIVING NECESSARY TO AVOID ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTION. ABLE TO COMPLETE SHORT DISTANCE HOME WHERE I INSPECTED BRAKES AND UNCOVERED RUSTED AND LEAKING BREAK LINES. VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 90,000 MILES. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND GM/NHTSA SHOULD BE ASHAMED THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN INITIATED. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS NOT AS LUCKY AS ME AND OTHER COMPLAINANTS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING I WENT TO STOP AT INTERSECTION AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR,AND I USED PARKING BRAKE TO STOP.I GOT OUT AND THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER,I CAREFULLY DROVE HOME ,1/2 MILE AND CHECKED OUT TRUCK AND THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALL RUSTED AND LEAKING. MY TRUCK HAS A SERIOUS RUST PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING FROM PENNSYLVANIA TO BUFFALO WHEN MY BRAKE LINE SNAPPED "SPEWING BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER"ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AT 65MPH. AT THE DEALER I WAS SHOWED THAT NOT ONLY WHERE MY BRAKE LINES ROTTED BUT EVERYTHING INVOLVING THE BRAKES "CALIPERS,ROTORS, PADS " FUEL LINES, FRAME CONTROL ARMS, EVERYTHING UNDER THE TRUCK, WHICH WAS BOUGHT NEW. THE BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS & ROTORS WERE REPLACED BY MY MECHANIC AT 25,000 WITH PARTS BOUGHT BY GM. MY TRUCK IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE FROM WHAT YOU CAN SEE & IS GARAGE KEPT.FROM WHAT I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS FROM 2000-2012. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM A CAMPING TRIP PULLING 30FT 5TH WHEEL , PUSHED ON BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN & PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR , PULLED OVER & FOUND BRAKE LINE LEAKING UNDER MASTER CYLINDER ON TOP OF FRAME RAIL , REPAIRED LINE TO GET HOME , UPON INSPECTION OF BRAKE LINES, THEY ARE VERY WEAK, SINCE THEN I'VE HAD TO FIX 2 MORE BRAKE LINES, LUCKILY NOT PULLING ANYTHING ,I HAVE FRIENDS WITH THESE SAME TRUCKS & INSPECTED THERE'S & ALSO LOOK THE SAME,1 FRIEND TOOK HIS TO DEALERSHIP & THEY TOLD HIM THAT THIS IS NORMAL? COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES WHILE ATTENDING A REENACTING CEREMONY AT THE ECKLEY MINERS VILLAGE AND DELIVERING SUPPLIES - ALL BRAKE LINES WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. *TR
I WAS COMING HOME FROM MY DAUGHTERS SOCCER GAME WITH HER AND MY EX-WIFE AS PASSENGERS.WE WERE APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES FROM HOME TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND PEDDLE WENT SLOWLY TO THE FLOOR. I MANAGED TO GET SLOWED DOWN AND BY QUICKLY PUMPING MY BRAKES I COULD GET ENOUGH PRESSURE TO STOP THE TRUCK. I PHONED A FRIEND AND HE BROUGHT A TRAILER AND WE HAULED IT HOME. I DO A LOT OF MY MECHANIC WORK BECAUSE OF GARAGE COST. I REPLACED THE ONE LINE, HAD ANOTHER ONE RUST OUT SO REPLACED ALL 4 OF THEM. THEN JUST THIS PAST WEEK I WAS GOING DOWN MY STEEP DRIVEWAY APPROXIMATELY 1/8 MILE LONG AND BRAKE LINE UNDER RADIATOR BROKE AND HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET STOPPED. I KEEP MY TRUCK CLEAN UNDERNEATH AND ON TOP AND THE FRAME IS RUSTING SO BAD IT'S SHAMEFUL!! THE BUMPERS AND CAB CORNERS ARE RUSTING TOO. *TR

I DO ALL OF MY WORK ON MY CARS BUT THIS LOOKS RIDICULOUS WHERE DO YOU START RIP THEM ALL OUT AND REPLACE ALL? THEY ARE ON TOP OF THE FRAME RAIL WHICH LOOK IMPOSSIBLE TO GET TO IT LOOKS LIKE ITS GOING TO BE A LOT OF MONEY IS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS? DESCENDING SMALL HILL TO MAKE TURN AND BRAKES FAILED. WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE STOPPED, BUT WAS IN-TOWN SITUATION AND VERY DICEY FOR A FEW MOMENTS. INVESTIGATION REVEALED ROTTED BRAKE LINE(S). REPAIRED REAR LINES FOR $500 . . WAS FRI AFTERNOON AND 100 MILES FROM HOME AND COULDN'T GET BRAKES REPAIRED UNTIL TUES. MECHANIC SAID ALL LINES SHOULD BE REPLACED AND I AGREED FRONT LINES STILL NEED DOING. $300-500. I HAVE HAD THE LOW SPEED ABS ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE AS WELL. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS WAY PREMATURE! THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND GM NEEDS TO STEP UP! IT'S OBVIOUSLY COMMON. PEOPLE WILL BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. BUT THE PERSON KILLED WON'T BE WRITING THIS LETTER, EH? WHILE PULLING INTO A STORE PARKING LOT THE BRAKES GAVE OUT, CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. UPON INSPECTION I NOTICED A BRAKE LINE COMPLETELY ROTTED GOING TO THE REAR SPLITTER NEAR THE FRAME AND ELECTRICAL HARNESS. THE REST OF THE LINE SEEMS PERFECTLY INTACT SO THIS SECTION OF LINE SHOULD NOT HAVE DETERIORATED. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR CHEVY OWNERS. I HOPE THAT THIS ISSUE IS LOOKED INTO AND A RESOLUTION IS FOUND BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR WORSE. INCIDENTALLY, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. *JS

WE HAD JUST GOTTEN TO THE BOTTOM OF A HILL WHEN WE APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL FELT NORMAL THEN INSTANTLY IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. SERVICE BRAKELINES ROTTED AND CAUSED A COMPLETE LOSS OF SERVICE BRAKES - WHILE DRIVING AND CLOSE TO HOME - USED EMERGENCY BRAKES AND LOW GEAR TO GET TO HOME. SPOKE TO FRIEND AT CHEVY DEALER. THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS TRUCK SERIES DUE TO CORROSION AND PREMATURE RUSTING. TRUCK IS CURRENTLY IN GARAGE DUE TO FAILURE (CORROSION) OF TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES. CURRENT MILEAGE 15,211. LOST BOTH ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULES AND ALTERNATOR AND TEMPERATURE SENSORS. *TR
I WAS PREPARING TO SLOW DOWN AS I APPROACHED MY DRIVEWAY. WHEN I APPLIED MY VEHICLE'S BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. MY VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN AND I HAD TO UTILIZE ME EMERGENCY BRAKE AND ALSO SHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN. I WAS UNABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO SAFELY MAKE A TURN AND SUBSEQUENTLY MY VEHICLE TRAVELLED THRU A DITCH AREA AND CAME TO A STOP IN MY FRONT YARD. COMPLETING A CHECK OF MY VEHICLE'S BRAKE SYSTEM, I LEARNED THAT MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE WHERE I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE'S COMPLETE BRAKING SYSTEM LINES HAD RUSTED AWAY CAUSING ALL BRAKE FLUID LOSS AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALL BRAKES LINES WERE REPLACED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE ABS MODULE AND THEN TO EACH BRAKE SYSTEM AT THE WHEEL. THE COST OF THE WORK WAS $598.00. MY VEHICLE IS A 2006 MODEL YEAR AND IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, HOWEVER I'M VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE BRAKING FLUID LINES FAILING WITH ONLY 52,500 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON THE PART OF GENERAL MOTORS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO ASSIST ME WITH THE MATTER AND AT THIS TIME I'M COMPLETING THIS COMPLAINT. THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMINISTRATION NEEDS TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION UPON GENERAL MOTORS TO ENSURE HIGHER QUALITY OF BRAKE LINES ARE INSTALLED INSTEAD OF SUBSTANDARD BRAKE LINES. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT/INCIDENT WITH THE BRAKES FAILING. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE GENERAL MOTORS REIMBURSE ME IN FULL FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. *TR
