I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAVE A RECALL FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG IN MY 2009 SILVERADO 1500 AS OF MAY 27, 2016. AS OF YET GM IS SAYING NO REMEDY BUT IN THE MEANTIME I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE TRUCK BECAUSE I LIVE IN FLORIDA IN HOT HUMID WEATHER AND THAT IS THE FACTOR THAT EFFECTS THE AIRBAGS! DASH CRACKS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOCKS ON THE VEHICLE ENGAGED AND DISENGAGED, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKERED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED, THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT SPEED, THE ABS DID NOT FULLY DISENGAGE, AND THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR INDEPENDENTLY WOULD INDICATE PARK WHILE IN DRIVE. ALSO, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR DUE TO IT BEING AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION.
TRUCK HAD BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT. WOKE UP TO 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ON. OPENED CAB DOOR, SMELLED LIKE SMOKE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, WOULD NOT TURN OVER. POP HOOD AND THE FUSE BOX AND WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN ON FIRE, WERE COMPLETELY MELTED. INSURANCE COMPANY WON'T COVER BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT SUBSTANTIAL PROOF OF FIRE, AND COULD NOT FIND SOURCE. FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH GM AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THE WIRING HARNESS HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED (ON A 7 YEAR OLD TRUCK). GM WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE, AND THEY HAVE YET TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY DISCONTINUED A PART. WE HAVE NO WAY OF FIXING THIS TRUCK.

THE CONTACT MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING WAS FRACTURED AND REMAINED CONNECTED TO THE ASSEMBLY. I GOT OUT OF WORK AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON SO IMMEDIATELY I TURNED IT OFF AND STARTED MY TRUCK AGAIN THINKING IT WAS JUST SOMETHING WEIRD THAT DIDN'T REGISTER RIGHT. IT HAS SENCE BEEN 3 DAY SO I LOOKED UP RECALLS ON MY TRUCK AND THE RECALLS WERE FOR MY 09 TRUCK BUT MY VIN DIDN'T QUITE MATCH THE "AFFECTED" VEHICLES. I WAS STATIONARY AND IT WAS SNOWING OUTSIDE. THE RECALL SAID THERE WAS AN ACOUSTIC PAD THAT PREVENTED THE SENSOR FROM WORKING CORRECTLY.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUSE BLOCK TWICE IN THIS TRUCK THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS 04/04/2016 THE FIRST COST WAS 600.00 AND THE MOST RECENT COST WAS 474.90

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO CORRODED AND FAULTY SDM MODULE. *LD CONSUMER HAS ANOTHER VEHICLE CORRESPONDENCE IN ARTEMIS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS WATER LEAKING INTO DRIVER'S FLOORBOARD AREA AND UNDERNEATH THE PADDING. THE BRAKE CABLE GROMMETS IN THE FIREWALL, AND SHEET METAL BODY SEAMS THAT WERE NOT PROPERLY SEALED OR NOT SEALED AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. *JS THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED THE RECALL DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING DRIVEN IN NORTHEASTERN STATES WITH SNOW. THE DASH PANELS ON THE TOP OF THE DASH BOARD HAVE COMPLETELY BROKEN I FEEL THAT IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY IT WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. SO ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO I REPLACED THE BATTERY TRUCK WAS RUNNING FINE TILL ABOUT MONTH THREE. I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE ELECTRICAL STARTED FREAKING OUT ON ME. I POPPED THE HOOD AND PUSHED THE NEGATIVE WIRE FOR THE BATTERY DOWN AND IT STOPPED FOR A GOOD TWO MONTHS SO TODAY (JUNE 7TH, 2016)I WAS ON MY WAY TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE BATTERY FOR ME AND ON MY WAY OVER TO THEM TRUCK THRE A TEMPER TANTRUM AND STARTED WITH THE FREAKING OUT THEN I WAS ALMOST THERE AND IT JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC I WAS LUCKLY IN THE TURNING LANE TO TURN INTO THE AUTOZONE. IT ALSO FID IT WHEN I WAS COMING OVER THE MOUNTAIN FREAKING OUT WITH THE ELECTRICAL. THEN JUST COMPLETLY CAME TO A STOP AT THE INTERSECTION AS I WAS TURNING LEFT ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER SILVERADO 2500 THAT WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME. BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IT'LL BE OKAY THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN JUST START UP AGAIN.

I HAVE COMPLAINTED OF EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION NUMEROUS TIMES TO MY DEALERSHIP SINCE DAY 1. 50K MILES THEY REPLACE THE OIL PUMP AND REBUILT THE LOWER PART OF THE MOTOR. 97K MILES I HAVE P0300 CODE WHICH IS A RAPID MISFIRE. THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND BEGAN VIBRATING. THE #4 CYLINDER HAS NO COMPRESSION. NO WARRANTY, NOT SURE WHAT'S NEXT. NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.

CRACK IN DASH BOARD NEAT PASSENGER AIRBAG. MAY BREAK OFF DURING DEPLOYMENT AND CAUSE INJURY.
THE WARNING SCREEN SHOWS: ENGINE HOT/ AC TURNED OFF, I HAVE BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR. IT WAS THE TEST DETECTED. IT WORKED ABOUT 3 MONTHS. LATER A TECH. TOLL ME, JUST RESET THE SYSTEM BY DISCONNECTING A BATTERY POLE, WORKS FOR A WHILE. 2 WEEKS AGO I REPLACED AGAIN THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR, AND AND THE THERMOSTAT. I WORKED FOR 12 DAYS , AND NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT, EVEN WHEN I RESET THE IT IT WORKS FOR NOT MORE THAN 10 MINUTES, AND THE " ENGINE HOT/ AC OFF SHOWS AGAIN.

DASHBOARD CRACKING BEHIND AIRBAG AND OVER THE SPEEDO CLUSTER. MAY CAUSE PLASTIC SHRAPNEL IF AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED INJURING OCCUPANTS.
THE LOCKING MECHANISM BROKE ON ALL PASSENGER DOORS CAUSING PASSENGERS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE KEY-LESS ENTRY ONLY OPENS DRIVER AND RELEASE ON DOOR DOES SAME. DEALERSHIP STATED REQUIRED TO REPLACE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON ALL DOORS. THIS APPEARS TO BE BIG PROBLEM WITH SILVERADO TRUCKS
MAJOR OIL CONSUMPTION BURNED 4QTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES TRUCK HAS THE 5.3L V8 NOT TO IMPRESSED DUE TO THE FACT IT ONLY HAS 75000 MILES ON IT
WHILE DRIVING MY 2009 SILVERADO AT 33,000 MILES I NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND IT WAS RUNNING ROUGH. AFTER TAKING TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THE #7 CYLINDER WAS NOT WORKING. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC THE AFM FOR THE 5.3 LITER ENGINES HAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. HALF OF THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF CARBON BUILT UP INSIDE THE ENGINE. AGAIN AT 78,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS TO AND DETERMINED THE ENGINE HAD EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILD UP AND A ENGINE SOAK WAS PERFORMED ALONG WITH SPLASH GUARDS ADDED TO THE VALVE COVERS TO KEEP THE ENGINE OIL FROM ESCAPING AS THE AFM WAS OPEARTIONAL. AT 98,000 MILES THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND THE VALVE COVER GASKET HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW, AT 140,000 MILES THE WATER PUMP, CRANK SHAFT AND BEARINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT REBUILD THE ENGINE DUE TO THE MILEAGE. I HAVE CHANGED THE OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES AND STARTED USING FULL SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL SINCE MY ENGINE ISSUES AT 33,000 MILES. GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE AFM AND CONTINUES TO DO NOTHING. I CONTACT GM CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY STATED THAT MY TRUCK HASN'T BEEN SEEN AT A DEALERSHIP IN OVER A YEAR, THEY WILL NOT ASSIST IN THE COST OF REPLACING THE ENGINE. BUT, THEY WILL GIVE ME A $1,000 CREDIT TOWARDS A NEW VEHILCE. INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM, GM JUST TURNS THERE HEADS ON THE ENGINE PROBLEMS AND EXPECTS YOU TO PAY FOR A NEW GM VEHICLE. GM STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT!!!!
PURCHASED USED VEHICLE FROM DEALER (DANIELS CHEVROLET, BUICK, GMC TRUCKS, INC. SWAINSBORO, GA) AND AFTER SALE DISCOVERED EMISSION SYSTEM WAS DISABLED AND DPF (DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER) HAD BEEN PHYSICALLY REMOVED; PROBABLY BY PREVIOUS OWNER.

BROKEN PLASTIC DASH BOARD( TOP PLASTIC) LEAVING SHARP JAGGED EDGES AROUND AIRBAG PANEL ON PASSENGERS SIDE WHERE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. DASH CRACKS IN OTHER MULTIPLE LOCATIONS ABOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WITH SHARP PLASTIC BROKEN PIECES ON DRIVERS SIDE NEAR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND I USE A WINDSHIELD SHADE IN THE SUN. VEHICLE HAD 8000 MILES ON IT. NEW BREAKS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ON DASH BOARD FROM THERMAL EXPANSION AND MATERIAL STRUCTURAL FAILURE OF THE DASH BOARD TOP PLASTIC. ALSO HAS DIS-COLORATION ON THE AIRBAG PANEL PLASTIC PANEL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH BOARD. DASH BOARD AIRBAG PANEL LOOKS TO BE DETERIORATING AND MAY POSSIBLY FRAGMENT IN AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I HAVE CONCERNS WITH FACIAL LACERATIONS AND CONTUSIONS IF A BAG DEPLOYS AND THIS PANEL ALONG WITH OTHER SHARP BROKEN DASH BOARD PLASTIC FRAGMENTS BECOME PROJECTILES FOR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER ON THE UPPER TORSO, FACE, ARMS AND POTENTIAL BLINDNESS FROM AN EYE INJURY FROM SHARP DASHBOARD PLASTIC FRAGMENTATION INTRUSION. NEWEST CRACKS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WERE WITNESS ON A WARM DAY RECENTLY WHEN I ENTERED THE CAR I HEARD A CRACK AS I SHUT THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE AIRBAG I NOTICED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2015 IN THE LEFT CORNER OF THE AIRBAG COVER, THE FORWARD MOST CORNER OF THE DASH THAT IS AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG PLASTIC PANEL RECENTLY SHOWS SIGN OF WHITE DISCOLORATION STREAKS THROUGH THE PLASTIC AND WILL NOT CLEANUP. PLASTIC LOOK AS IF IT IS DETERIORATING AND CHANGING COLOR. I'M VERY CONCERNED WITH THIS PANEL AS THIS DEPLOYS WITH AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE DRIVER AIRBAG COVER ON THE STEERING WHEEL LOOKS TO BE MADE OF THE SAME MATERIAL AND THAT FRAGMENTATION MAY OCCUR HERE AS WELL IN A AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARTER CHEVROLET (175 HARTFORD TURNPIKE, VERNON, CT 06066, (860) 646-6464), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TK HOLDINGS, ALERTING HIM THAT TAKATA FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
FUEL LEAKING/SPRAYING OUT OF THE REAR AUXILIARY FUEL TANK. I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF RAW GASOLINE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I OBSERVED THE RAW FUEL WAS COMING OUT OF THE FUEL MODULE CONNECTING FUEL LINE. THE METAL FUEL LINE SITS IN A WELL OF THE REAR TANK AND WAS COMPLETELY COVERED WITH DIRT/MOISTURE/RAW FUEL. THE TANK WAS REMOVED AND WE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT THE METAL PORTION OF THE FUEL MODULE METAL PIPING WAS RUSTED THRU AND THAT WAS WHERE THE RAW FUEL WAS BEING SPRAYED/POOLING IN THE WELL AREA. THE DESIGN OF THE FUEL TANK & MODULE CREATES A PERFECT LOCATION FOR DIRT/MOISTURE TO ACCUMULATE. ANY TYPE OF IGNITION SOURCE COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC FIRE AND POSSIBLE EXPLOSION. THE REMOVED ORIGINAL FUEL MODULE WAS IN PERFECT WORKING CONDITION EXCEPT FOR THE ROTTED METAL PORTION OF THE MODULE. I REPLACED THE ROTTED FUEL MODULE WITH A NEW GM OEM FUEL MODULE. THIS NEW MODULE HAS THE SAME EXACT CONSTRUCTION AS THE ORIGINAL PART. SINCE THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO CLEAN OR KEEP CLEAN THE WELL AREA OF THE TANK, I CAN ONLY ASSUME THE NEW OEM PART WILL DETERIORATE IN THE SAME MANNER. THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 34000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE CONDITION OCCURRED. SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THE NEW MODULE COSTS FOR LABOR AND PARTS WAS IN EXCESS OF $1000.00. IN CONCLUSION I THINK THIS MATTER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY HAZARD INVOLVING RAW FUEL BEING EJECTED FROM THE FUEL TANK UNDER PRESSURE WHILE THE PUMP IS RUNNING.
TOOK TRUCK IN FOR VEHICLE INSPECTION. TRUCK FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO LEAKING STEERING GEAR. THE DEALER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR $800 AND THEN THE TRUCK WOULD PASS INSPECTION . THIS TRUCK HAS 14000 MILES ON IT . A SEARCH ONLINE REPORTED A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE TIE ROD GOING INTO THE STEERING BOX WAS NOT TIGHT ENOUGH CAUSING DAMAGE TO GEAR BOX . DEALER WAS SUPPOSE TO FIX AT NO CHARGE THIS PROBLEM.
