SEVERE FRAME RUST
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. CHEVROLET SERVICE ORIGINALLY SUSPECTED IT WAS THE AIR BAG MODULE AND WANTED TO REPLACE IT CHARGING $800.00. THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. SINCE WE HAVE REPLACED THE AIR BAG MODULE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN TO HAVE IT PROGRAMMED AND SERVICE STATED THAT THE NEW MODULE WOULD NOT ACCEPT PROGRAMMING AND THEY ARE STILL NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. LIGHT IS STILL ON, NO AIRBAGS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AND JUST WANT THE CONSUMER TO PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOR UNTIL THEY FIGURE IT OUT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A COOL MORNING (55 F) THE DRIVER SIDE DEFOGGED, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE WOULD DEFOG. I TURNED THE TEMP WARMER AND THE AIRFLOW UP, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS STILL VERY SLOW TO DEFOG. THERE WAS VERY LOW AIRFLOW COMING FROM THE VENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AFTER THE TEMP/AIRFLOW WAS ADJUSTED TO A REASONABLE SETTING, THE PASSENGER SIDE SUDDENLY FOGGED UP AGAIN, IMMEDIATELY IMPEDING VISIBILITY OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND THE PASSENGER WINDOW, ALSO BLOCKING VISIBILITY OF THE PASSENGER MIRROR. WAS ADVISED BY DEALER THAT THE CAUSE WAS AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED SEAL ADJACENT TO THE HEATER CORE, BUT NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL OR WARRANTY. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED, AS SUDDEN FOGGING AND LOSS OF VISIBILITY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS COULD LIKELY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
I HAVE TWO CRACKS ON MY DASHBOARD .ONE CRACK IS DIRECTLY OVER MY INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE SECOND IS ON PASSENGER SIDE OFF THE LEFT CORNER OF AIRBAG. THIS 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO LTZ C1500 HAS ONLY 47,414 MILES ON IT. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT BY MANUFACTURER. I BABY THIS TRUCK AND KEEP IT COVERED UNDER MY CARPORT AT MY HOME. I DRIVE A COMPANY TRUCK ON WEEK DAYS AND MY TRUCK ON WEEKENDS. THESE TWO CRACKS HAPPENED WHILE TRUCK WAS SITTING STATIONARY UNDER MY CARPORT. IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS ,AND WILL MANUFACTURER REPLACE AT NO COST TO ME.
DASH CRACKED ABOVE TOP LEFT CORNER OF PASSENGER AIRBAG
INTERIOR DASH HAS 2 CRACKS BY AIRBAG AND 1 LARGE CRACK IN FRONT OF STEERING WHEEL.
THE DASH HAS A CRACK ON THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG
THE DASH HAS CRACKED WHERE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG COVER. IT APPEARS THAT IF THE AIR BAG WERE TO DEPLOY THE DASH COULD FRACTURE FURTHER AND CAUSE BODILY HARM.
CRACKS IN DASHBOARD , EXPOSE AIRBAG , RECALL NEEDED , PLEASE HELP US AND MAKE A COMPLIANT.
THE DASH DEVELOPED A CRACK AT THE LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, WHICH WAS IDENTICAL TO THE ONE THAT OCCURRED IN OUR 2012 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, AND EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED. MILES ARE AT 32,000, BUT THE FACTORY WARRANTY RAN OUT AT THE END OF MAY AND CHEVY REFUSES TO COVER THE REPAIR AT 100%.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT A VERY LOW SPEED, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED. WHEN THE RPMS WERE HIGH, THE POWER STEERING WORKED NORMALLY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGHWAY RATE OF SPEED, THE WINDOW WIPER MOTOR FAILED AND CAUSED THE WIPERS NOT TO WORK. THE CONTACT HAD TO QUICKLY ADJUST THE WIPERS IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
ON 7/14 AM I HAD THE CHEVROLET DEALER PUT 2 NEW TIRES AND HAD AN ALIGNMENT DONE. WE LEFT ON TRIP LATER THAT DAY AND IN A HEAVY RAIN STORN NEAR JACKSONVILLE, AR, WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE TRUCK SPUN OUT OF CONTROL ON HWY 167S DUE TO SEVERE HYDROPLANING. THE NEXT DAY I LOOKED AT THE TIRES AND THEY WERE NOT THE SAME TIRES AS ON THE REAR OR AS SPECIFIED BY GM. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN P245 AND THEY WERE MS245. I RECALL WHEN I FIRST LOOKED AT THE TRUCK WHEN WE PICKED UP AT THE CHEVROLET GARAGE THAT THEY DID NOT LOOK "NEW". THEY WERE DUSTY AND DIRTY AND DID NOT HAVE THE "NEW TIRE STIPLING" THAT I HAVE SEEN ON OTHER NEW TIRES THAT I HAVE PURCHASED. I LATER FOUND OUT BY GOODYEAR THAT THE TIRES SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT ON THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF DRIVING IN SNOW AND RAIN AND WHEN I NOTICE HYDROPLANING, I SLOW DOWN. BUT IN THIS ACCIDENT THERE WAS NO WARNING. WHEN I FIRST CALLED THE CHECROLET DEALER THEY SAID THAT 245 EURO TIRES WERE PUT ON MY TRUCK AND THEY WERE BETTER THAN THE P245 TIRES AND TO CONTACT THERE LAWYER. I THINK THE TIRES THEY PUT ON THAT THEY SOLD AS NEW, WERE TAKEN OFF OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AND PUT ON MY TRUCK . I ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD SHOW ME THE ORDER, BILL OF LADING, AND PACKING SLIP ANE AGAIN THEY REFERRED ME TO THEIR LAWYER.
DASHBOARD STARTING TO CRACK ON PASSENGER SIDE. 3 YEARS 7 DAYS...
HAS 28K MILES ON IT AND THE PAINT HAS RUNS AND CLEAR COAT PEELED. DASH IS ALSO CRACKED GIVING SERIOUS CONCERNS TO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSING FLYING DEPRIS. DEALER BASICALLY SAID YOUR SOL
TAKATA RECALL. GOT RECALL NOTICE IN MAIL. HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET IT FIXED YET
PAINT IS PEELING ON ROOF. HAS BEEN FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. GM DEALER SAID IT WAS FROM A STONE BRUISE, AND I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD. PEELING ABOVE WINDSHIELD IS FROM DRIVERS SIDE ALL THE WAY TO PASSENGER'S SIDE. HOOD IS NOW STARTING TO PEEL.
DASH BEGAN TO CRACK AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I AM AFRAID THAT THE DASH PIECES CAN BECOME FLYING PROJECTILES IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE PASSENGER OR SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DEPLOYS.
MY DASH HAS CRACK IN IT ,ON TOP OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG( THAT SHOULD AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE! THE OTHER CRACK IS ON THE DRIVER SIDE!!!
CRACKED DASH, THROUGH AND THROUGH, RESULTING IN A SHARP EDGE. THIS WAS A SPONTANEOUS CRACK. THERE WAS NO FORCE OR TRAUMA. IT JUST RANDOMLY APPEARED.
MY 2013 HAS DEVELOPED THE NOTORIOUS LIFTER TICK FROM A COLLAPSED LIFTER (THIS AFFECTS MANY 5.3L V8 ENGINES OF THIS ERA). THIS WILL LEAD TO EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING, AND CLOGGED EXHAUST SYSTEMS OVER TIME DUE TO THE OIL BURNING. THIS ALSO DAMAGES/DESTROYS THE CAM SHAFT OVER TIME AND REQUIRES FREQUENT SPARK PLUG CHANGES. I SUSPECT THIS PROBLEM STARTED AS EARLY AS 60,000 MILES (WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY) HOWEVER BECAUSE THE TRUCK WASN'T CONSUMING 1 QT / 1000 MILES GM REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THE ISSUE FURTHER. THIS IS A WELL-DOCUMENTED ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES OVER TIME, THIS CAN LEAD TO STALLS OR BREAKDOWNS WHICH CAN BE A HAZARD. IT ALSO SERVERELY DIMINISHES THE RESALE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AS THE REQUIRED REPAIRS ARE QUITE EXPENSIVE (ABOUT $2000 - $3500).
I HAVE A CRACKS IN MY DASHBOARD. ONE OF WHICH IS BY THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, WHICH IF WAS INFLATED WOULD SEND PLASTIC DASHBOARD PIECES INTO THE PASSENGER FACE, DUE TO THE BRITTLENESS OF THE PLASTIC THAT CRACKS WHEN TOUCHED. THERE IS ANOTHER CRACK ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE DASH, WHICH IS BRITTLE TO THE TOUCH. GM REFUSES TO FIX FOR FREE, EVEN KNOWING THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FAULTY PLASTIC DASHBOARD CONTINUES TO GET WORSE, AS GM HAS INSTALLED THESE DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS IN THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES.
DASHBOARD HAS STARTED CRACKING AROUND MY PASSENGER AIRBAG, LEAVING SHARP EDGES THAT I FEEL MAY DAMAGE THE AIRBAG UPON DEPLOYMENT.
I HAVE NOW HAD MY CHEVY 2013 SILVERADO IN FOR OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS AND IT HAS FAILED THEM. WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT IT IN I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS. WHEN IT FINALLY FAILED THEY ARE NOW SAYING THE ARE ONLY REPLACING THE HEAD GASKET AND THE ROCKER ARMS. NEITHER ONE OF THESE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY TRUCK BURNING OIL. THIS IS THE SECOND VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED THAT HAS HAS ISSUES BURNING OIL THE FIRST ONE THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR IT TO BURN OIL. THEY NEED TO DO WHAT THEY ORIGINALLY TOLD ME AND REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS. WHAT HAPPENS IF THIS ENGINE GOES WHILE I AM GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY
WAX COATING IS COMING OFF OF FRAME RUST SHOWING.
DASH HAS CRACKED ABOVE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS HAS CAUSED SAFETY CONCERNS SUCH AS THE POSSIBILITY OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYING OR PIECES OF THE DASH COMING OUT AND INJURING SOMEONE IF IT WAS TO DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT ABOUT 5 MONTHS.
CHROME COVER OF 20" WHEEL CAME OFF AND ENTIRE WHEEL WAS REPLACED ON 1/28/2016. IT CAME OFF AGAIN ON FEB . 16., 2016 WHILE DRIVING.
2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO REAR SLIDING ELECTRIC WINDOW STUCK OPEN. THE MOTOR CAN BE HEARD WORKING, BUT THE WINDOW DOES NOT MOVE. RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM IN YEARS 2014, 2015, 2016, BUT NOT 2013?
CRACKED DASH. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 30K MILES AND ALREADY HAS A CRACK
ON 1/22/2016, I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A MAJOR STREET. THE VEHICLE I COLLIDED WITH APPROXIMATE SPEED WAS 35MPH WHEN THE COLLISION OCCURRED!!! THE SMELL OF GUN POWDER WAS THROUGH OUT MY VEHICLE. ALSO THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS FLASHING ON MY DASH BOARD. NONE OF THE FACTORY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE FRONT END COLLISION!!!
I BOUGHT THIS USED 2013 TRUCK IN LATE NOV 2015. WHEN MAKING (USUALLY) A RIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEED, ESPECIALLY FROM A STOP LIKE ENTERING TRAFFIC FROM AN INCLINED ACCESS DRIVEWAY, OCCASIONALLY (MAYBE 3 TIMES PER MONTH) THERE IS A SUDDEN AND TOTAL FAILURE OF POWER ASSIST IN STEERING, MAKING THE TURN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND UNABLE TO KEEP FROM DRIFTING OUT OF THE INTENDED LANE OF TRAVEL. COLLISIONS WERE AVOIDED SEVERAL TIMES BY (THANKFULLY) ONCOMING TRAFFIC VEERING OUT OF THE WAY. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL PARTICULARLY AT THIS UNEXPECTED TIME WHILE ACCELERATING TO NEGOTIATE A TRAFFIC ENTRY IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS ONE-TON TRUCK IS NOT LIKE A SUBCOMPACT THAT IS EASY TO TURN 90 DEGREES WITHOUT POWER STEERING, BELIEVE ME. IF MY WIFE WERE DRIVING, THE TRUCK WOULD SURELY GO COMPLETELY ACROSS ALL LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN, THE POWER STEERING RETURNS TO NORMAL, HOWEVER THE POWER ASSIST STEERING ON THIS 2013 TRUCK HAS ALWAYS BEEN FAR LESS EFFECTIVE THAN MY PREVIOUS IDENTICAL MODEL, BUT 8 YEARS OLDER CHEVY DIESEL ONE-TON TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE MOUNTS AND FRAME WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THE BOLTS AND NUTS IN THE FRAME WERE ALSO CORRODED AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. ADDITIONALLY, ALL OF THE UNDERCOATING FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE ABNORMAL AND EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF CORROSION TO THE FRAME AND UNDERCARRIAGE AREAS WERE CONFIRMED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD REMOVE ALL OF THE RUST AND CORROSION AND APPLY A NEW UNDERCOATING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
THERE IS A CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. IT RUNS FROM THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG COVER TO THE EDGE OF THE DASHBOARD PIECE. THE DASHBOARD PIECE IS ELEVATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CRACK. THERE IS ALSO A SECOND CRACK FORMING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SAME DASHBOARD PIECE NEAR THE DRIVER INSTRUMENT PANEL HOOD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAF SPRING FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER BECAME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
2013 LTZ SILVERADO 47,000 MILAGE DASH CRACKED IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OF AIRBAG AREA. FEEL COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD IF IN AN ACCIDENT AND AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED CAUSING THE DASH TO THROW SHARDS OF PLASTIC IN CAB. IT CRACKED ONE DAY JUST AS I STARTED TRUCK WHILE STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIRBAG. AN ONLINE SEARCH HAS TURNED UP HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR CRACKS, SOME MUCH WORSE, ON SIMILAR CHEVROLET AND GMC VEHICLES. MANY OWNERS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT AIRBAG SAFETY WITH THE CRACKED DASHBOARD. IN MY CASE, I NEVER LEAVE OR PLACE ANYTHING ON THE DASHBOARD, I.E. FEET, MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS OF WEIGHT, ETC. IT WAS FIRST NOTICED ABOUT SEP 26, 2015. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR ANOMALY THAT OCCURRED TO MY KNOWLEDGE THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS.
I HAVE HAD A VIBRATION ISSUE SINCE GETTING MY SECOND SET OF REPLACEMENT RIMS. I AM ON MY THIRD SET OF WHEELS AND THE VIBRATION IS WORSE. WHILE HAVING A COMPETENT DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THE FRONT WHEELS FAKE CHROME PLASTIC CAP CAME OFF ON THE MECHANIC WHILE DRIVING IT. THE OTHER 3 ARE LOOSE. GM SAID THEY WILL REPLACE THE FRONT WHEEL BUT THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE OTHER 3 EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THIS WOULD BE THE FOURTH SET OF WHEELS IN 28000 MILES. THE FIRST SET WAS REPLACED AT 1000 MILES. THE VIBRATION ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS IS DUE TO THE CRAPPY WHEELS. ALUMINUM WHEELS WITH A FOAM LAMINATE WITH THE FAKE CHROME PLASTIC CAP SOMEHOW ADHERED TO THE FOAM. THESE ARE 20" FAKE CHROME CLAD WHEELS. I ASKED THE DEALER TO TOW IT IN AND REPLACE THE WHEELS AGAIN. I ALSO CONTACTED GM ZONE OFFICE WITH AN EMPLOYEE GETTING BACK TO ME WITH A PREPARED STATEMENT HE DID NOT WANT TO DEVIATE FROM. I INFORMED HIM THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE THE MOTORCYCLIST THAT GETS THE PART IN THE HEAD WHEN ANOTHER ONE COMES APART. I COULD NOT GET AN ANSWER FROM EITHER THE DEALER OR GM AS TO IT BEING SAFE OR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS TOLD THE OTHER 3 WHEELS ARE AT MY COST EVEN THOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE TRUCK HAS A CONTINUOUS VIBRATION ISSUE. I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO. THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO BALANCE SOMETHING LIKE THIS. THE AMOUNT OF WEIGHTS THAT ARE ATTACHED TO EACH WHEEL IS ABSURD.
I NOTICED EXCESSIVE FRAME RUST. CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR PROPER FIX. RUST WAS SUPPOSEDLY GROUND OFF AND FRAME AND UNDERCARRIAGE WERE UNDERCOATED. APPARENTLY THE FACTORY WAX COATING WAS NOT PROPERLY CLEANED BEFORE PAINT. I RECENTLY NOTICED THE RUST IS BACK ON THE FRAME AND FRONT STEERING PARTS. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY 16,000 MILES, IS GARAGE KEPT AND HAS RARELY BEEN DRIVEN IN WINTER MONTHS.
DRIVING AT APPROX 35-40 MPH APPROACHING A HAIRPIN TURN TRIED TO BREAK AND VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN SLID THROUGH THE CORNER INTO A ROCK, PUT THE VEHICLE IS REVERSE AND PRESSED ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE RPM INCREASED ON OWN TRIED TO BREAK THE RPM DID NOT DIMINISH(FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR) BEFORE I HAD TIME TO SHUT THE TRUCK OFF I HIT A TREE BEHIND ME. IT APPEARS SOMETHING STUCK IN ACCELERATOR (MECHANICAL) OR THE COMPUTER SYSTEM( ELECTRONICS) FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TESTED.

I DID SPEAK TO A FRIEND IN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT A DEALER AND HE KNEW ALL ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME HE HAS NO KNOWLEDGE THAT GM WILL RECALL THEM LIKE TOYATA DID YEARS AGO. I CAN'T EVEN TRADE IT IN BECAUSE THE DEALER ALREADY KNOWS THE FRAME WILL BE A PROBLEM AND GIVE ME NOTHING FOR A 28,000 TRUCK . I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO . THE DASH HAS CRACKED IN 2 PLACES NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. SHOULD IT DEPLOY THERE WILL BE A PIECE AS LONG AS A BIG KNIFE THAT WILL BECOME A PROJECTILE.
I NOTICED LITERALLY FROM ONE DAY TO THE NEXT THAT THE DASH BOARD IN MY 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO IS CRACKING. THE CRACK APPEARED ON THE LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE BAG. I BABY THIS TRUCK IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP IT LOOKING NEW. I DON'T EVEN REALLY DRIVE IT AND IT IS GARAGE KEPT. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE CRACK BEING RIGHT THERE ON THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I HAVE TWO KIDS AND I DON'T EVEN LET THEN RIDE UP FRONT ANYMORE IN FEAR THAT THE AIR BAG MIGHT DEPLOY AND SHARP PIECES OF THE DASH WILL FLY IN THEIR FACES.

DASHBOARD CRACK ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF PASSENGER AIRBAG. AND DASHBOARD RATTLES ON DRIVER-SIDE. VERY CONCERNED IF IN AN ACCIDENT THE DASHBOARD WILL SEND PROJECTILES BECAUSE IT'S SO CLOSE TO AIRBAG.

NOTHING WAS AROUND THE TRUCK, BIRDS, PEOPLE, ETC.. I TOOK PICTURES BEFORE WE DID ANYTHING. I SEARCHED ON THE WEB AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM (DIFFERENT TYPES OF VEHICLES). I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF THERE IS A INVESTIGATION OR RECALL ON A SITUATION LIKE THIS. IT CONCERNS ME BECAUSE IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING, MY PASSENGERS (GRAND CHILD) THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION PLUS THE INTENSE SOUND WOULD HAD CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. "TAKATA RECALL" THE DASH IS CRACKED ON THE WINDSHIELD SIDE AROUND THE AIR BAG AND MAY CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. ALSO HAS TWO CRACKS ON BOTH SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WIITCH LEAVING IT MORE REASON TO DEPLOY.
ALL STABILITRAK/TRACTION CONTROL SHUT OFF. DEALER STATES CODE C0455, STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE HOW MANY CODE C0455 HAVE BEEN LISTED FOR YEARS. SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY GM. KNOWN ISSUE NOT BEING REPAIRED CAUSING STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL TO DISENGAGE. THE NUMBERS POSTED IN FORUMS INDICATE A LARGE PROBLEM. SHOULD BE A RECALL.
AIR BAGS DO NOT RECOGNIZE SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND REMAIN OFF. PERSON SITTING THERE WEIGHED OVER 230 POUNDS. SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS REMAIN ILLUMINATED DESPITE SEAT BELT BEING FASTENED.
I PURCHASED A NEW BLACK 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CREW CAB IN OCTOBER 2012 FROM MARINE CHEVROLET IN JACKSONVILLE, NC WITH A 3 YR/36,000 MILE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. ON 16 MAY, 2015, I CALLED MARINE CHEVROLET'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT A 1 1/2"CRACK ABOVE THE CENTER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. MY TRUCK HAD 37,017 MILES AND WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. HOWEVER, I WANTED TO KNOW IF THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT FOR 8:30 AM ON 18 MAY, 2015. AFTER CONDUCTING RESEARCH OVER THE WEEKEND, I LEARNED THAT OTHER CHEVY AND GMC OWNERS OF TRUCK AND SUV MODELS BETWEEN 2007 AND 2013 REPORTED CRACKED DASHES NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS. ON 18 MAY, I BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO MARINE CHEVROLET'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO EXAMINE THE CRACK. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INITIALLY TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, CHEVROLET WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. I EXPLAINED THAT THE CRACK HAPPENED LESS THAN THREE YEARS AFTER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK AND I WAS AWARE OF THE HISTORY OF THESE DASHBOARDS. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TALKED TO HIS SERVICE MANAGER AND LATER TOLD ME THAT GM WOULD PAY THE MAJORITY OF THE MAINTENANCE COST AND THAT I WOULD ONLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR $100. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF ONLINE COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN IN FORUMS AND ONLINE NEWS ARTICLES, I FEEL GM MAY HAVE INSTALLED DEFECTIVE DASHBOARDS IN 2007 - 2013 TRUCK AND SUV MODELS AND PASSED THE COST OF DEFECTIVE PARTS ONTO THE CUSTOMER. ADDITIONALLY, IF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYS WITH A CRACK DASHBOARD SURROUNDING IT, THERE COULD AN INCREASED LIKELIHOOD OF DASHBOARD SHRAPNEL FLYING INTO A PASSENGER'S FACE. I THINK NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE CRACKING DASHBOARD ISSUE IN GM'S SUVS AND PICK-UP TRUCKS FROM 2007 - 2013 AND INFLUENCE GM TO ISSUE A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM.
