NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
automatic sliding back glass exploded while sitting in the yard. This could have injured passengers in the rear seat. Dealer said no recall is present. Repair is out of pocket. Vehicle has not been inspected. No warning signs or messages or other symptoms prior to the incident of back glass exploding
Throttle body?/ Accelerator pedal sensor?
Brake pedal was very hard to press down and was almost no response from brakes, brake assist service came on, vacuum pump failure, ot was replaced.
Vehicle is shifting extremely hard vehicle has 115*** miles. If the transmission fails in the interstate it can cause a major accident or even death Multiple owners have the same issue with faulty components related to the transmission no warning lights on the dash the hard shifting gets worse as the transmission temp gets hotter
NOTE-We are visiting DE, but reside in Virginia. I recently experienced problems with my "Wheel Speed Sensor System" on my 2014 Chevy Silverado, LT, 5.3L V8 4WD, Crew Cab. My local garage in DE (our Condo is in DE- our home-residence is Virginia) looked at the vehicle and said I was having a problem with the wheel speed sensors partially locking up my brakes and causing a drag when driving. The garage in Newark, DE- Littles Garage told me that their system said there was a recall on my vehicle and that I'd need to have service done at a Chevrolet Dealership at no cost. I went to 2 Dealerships who stated my Truck's VIN did not show up in their system as having any active recalls. Reading the Recall notice, I see that GM contacted the Dealerships directly (I guess not to make the recall public) who have/had sold this vehicle with instructions to contact owners directly; however, I purchased the Vehicle in SC from a Ford Dealership in 2017. Since RECALL # N192261050 is stated as a safety problem that could cause my truck to be a dangerous safety hazard that could cause serious damage and even death to occupants of the vehicle. I understand from my garage that the issue is intermittent once discovered, even as I have not experienced anything for about a week, and it can re-appear at any time. You can understand that I need the NHTSA to help me resolve this issue and if I am deserving of a Recall Fix, to help me with Dealerships in DE. NuCar Chevrolet of New Castle, DE has been recommended to me by Littles Garage as one of the best Chevy Dealerships. NOTE I am visiting DE and need to get back to Virginia shortly (I'm hesitant to drive this vehicle at highway speeds). I appreciate any help to resolve these issues and to possibly help me to have a Dealership in DE provide me the applicable safety fix in accordance with the subject Recall.
Transmission is slipping, this year of Silverado is known for this. Transmission clunks while driving and slips in and out of gear.
Unknown..... the transmission in my truck began the shutter and shake like I was running over the rumble strip. The truck was at one point locked into 4x4 and even stuck in reverse and almost got me ran over by a diesel when I couldn't get out of his way until the very last second. Im not the only one with this issue. Gm has been knowingly mass producing these defective transmissions and selling them to the public with no notication to the consumers. This is obviously defrauding the consumers out of not only there money but also many of there livelihoods. As many families depend on there trucks in order to financially support there families. As mine does. Gm sold defective equipment. Completely aware that they where defective this is fraud and they should be held liable for there actions.
I hit my brakes to avoid an accident in multiple -5 degree weather and my trucks transmission shuttered and failed to work. This truck was running very strong before this unexpected event. Chevy owners should not have to pay for this out of pocket. Thank you
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the cabin became foggy, and the contact noticed that there was smoke coming from between the sliding window and the rear passenger's side window. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact then heard an abnormal gunshot like sound coming from the rear passenger's side window. The contact noticed that the rear passenger's side window had sustained a spider web crack, and the shattered glass was falling gradually. The contact was able to drive to residence, and the contact had not driven the vehicle since the failure. The contact stated that the defroster was engaged during the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure, and the vehicle would soon be towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in an unknown recall. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
When driving in traffic about 10 mph engine shuts down and power steering goes out. . When I slow to turn, the engine shuts down sometimes and the power steering goes out. No warnings. I’m afraid to drive it. I almost hit a lady while turning in a parking lot because the steering went out and it died. Sometime it’s hard to turn the key to start the truck. This has happened 9 or 10 times now.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle had lost power steering functionality. The contact was forced to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and repaired without the owner’s consent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was not available.
I bought a truck from Paul Gerber Auto sales, Inc(used car dealer) in Omaha Nebraska. The transmission is bad because of the torque converter and a known issue where the transmission fluid gets too hot causing the torque converter to become damaged. There are also multiple known safety recalls with this vehicle and the issue with the transmission has been confirmed by a independent mechanic. The dealer had me driving it down roads that didn't take the vehicle through all of its gears so the problem wasn't noticed until after I had gotten on to the freeway. Went on the freeway I noticed that it was shifting up hard and downshifting hard as well as a rumble strip effects in the vehicle struggled to get up to speed or was sluggish. When I was clear and tried to pull out into a lane from an intersection the vehicle struggled to get up to speed and I was nearly rear-ended. That's when I took it to have an OBD reading which caused the check engine light to turn on and notice that codes were pending which means that the dealership cleared the codes before the test drive. Please have not been made aware yet but I will be filing a report.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel failed to steer in the intended direction. The power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed electronic power steering module. The contact was informed that the electronic power steering module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed of an unknown recall that had a similar failure description. In addition, the contact was informed that an unknown recall repair was performed on the vehicle in 2017. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
12/10/25 took wife’s vehicle to church, came home, at 11:22pm a loud noise from outside brought us out of bed, ran to door, wife asked if I smelled something, went outside and seen the glow from in front of garage, I ran to the garage and saw truck burning from engine bay, hooked up water hose, didn’t faze it, took fire department 20 minutes to show, truck has not been driven since 12/6/25, I live 2.5 miles back in the hills, police asked for surveillance video and showed the truck just started burning under the hood, now I’m getting the run around by AS insurance company
I have not had any incidents thank goodness. But I did take it to the shop and they told me as the vacuum pump. It wouldn’t stop my vehicle and I was always nervous about hitting someone or causing an accident. Before then, I had change the breaking pad, taking it to the shop to check on their transmission and none of that was the problem. Please make a recall on this. People could cause or be involving in an accident. It mostly happened when I’m driving in slow between 2-5 miles per hour. It always scare me when backing out of my driveway because the brakes wouldn’t work. I do not have any pictures. I would rather take this to get fixed before causing an accident.
Driving home 2 blocks from my house when truck stalled completely no power would not start total black out. Resembles recall campaign number14V614000.
This in addition to complaint form number:11699917 I have found the two forms issued by the GM global corp. One is a recall the other a bulletin about the HPFP fuel regulator to be replaced because it was known to fail. The first actual recall (13370 ) states that 25,000 vehicles were involved. The symptoms they stated are all the same that the vehicle I own are having including fuel fumes in the cab and under the hood . In 13370 right at the top it states urgent so this problem is definitely a safety concern for fire or explosion. In 13370A they eliminated a lot of these details including the words urgent and the amount of vehicles that were involved in this recall. And at the bottom of 13370A it also states that the following two paragraphs does not pertain to Canada , THIS is important because my vehicle was born in Canada . So everything stated above that involves Canada manufacturing also. So this means my vehicle should be included in this recall also like I stated in my complaint to this safety commission 11699917 . My vehicle has the 5.3 , it’s a 1500 Silverado and it’s a 2014. Recalls don’t expire for safety as far as I heard. There is no reasonable explanation as to why this vehicle was excluded except it was manufactured in Canada and fell through the cracks of their recall . Without a recall they will not look at any bulletin for this safety issue on my vehicle. This is a very expensive repair to be done and GM knows this also.
My vehicle produced a check engine light then it started to be hard to start . Then I started to smell fuel in the cab and strong smell of fuel under the hood . I cannot see the leak so it has to be the HPFP located under the intake manifold and the fuel is being absorbed by the insulation located under the intake. In January 2014 the GM corporation issued a voluntary or bulletin for this year truck and the 5.3,engine for having installed the wrong fuel regulator in these pumps. Bulletin number 13370A states this exact problem. This vehicle was produced in a Canadian plant therefore fell through the cracks in there recall/bulletin . This is a safety problem that I cannot get repaired under warranty or anything. This vehicle is prone to start on fire that’s why they issued the bulletin but since it was Canada born they really do not want to help me and say it isn’t on their recall list even though it is the EXACT problem they list . And since it isn’t on their recall list they won’t even look at the bulletin to see about goodwill warranty either to cover the repair. Why is this vehicle with the same year and same make and same engine excluded , because it’s made in Canada it doesn’t make the list of recalls in the GM world.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring an increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V414000 (Steering); the VIN was included, but the vehicle was previously repaired in 2017. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 171,000.
The bus is always parked on the road, my phone slid off the console, when I reached for it, I accidentally moved the truck to the right, and before I hit the bus, I did not have enough time to correct my mistake. I have forgotten everything that occurred from Saturday the 18th up until Friday the 24th. I kept massive migraines the entire week. Now I just have some headaches. The part that scared me the most, is when I realized, not one single air bag deployed. I personally, am so thankful I was able walk away from it. I will never buy another Chevy Silverado.
Driving in Tucumcari New Mexico coming up on a green light that turned from green to yellow to red. I pressed the brake pedal instead of the brakes doing their job in slowing down to come to a stop. The pedal pushed against my pressure a did not allow me to stop or slow down in anyway. Upon this brake failure it made me run the red light an t bone another car in the intersection. This brake failure has cost me my only transportation to work, which is in Reno, Nevada. Now GM has never reached out to speak with me about getting the issue resolved before this accident. Dealership never reached out to me or informed me of any recalls prior to the accident or when I made the purchase in 2024. No warning lights no indicators or on my dash to inform of any problems
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH, the vehicle started pulling to the left, requiring the contact to manually return the steering wheel to the center. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC); the VIN was included, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,400.
Power steering on vehicle intermittently stops working. Vehicle becomes difficult to steer at low speeds. Even when Vehicle is moving turning is extremely challenging.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway, the steering wheel became difficult to turn to the left or the right. The contact stated that the messages "Drive with Care" and "Power Steering Fault" were displayed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the local dealer but had asked an independent mechanic to the residence to scan the vehicle. The mechanic advised the contact that there were several codes for electrical circuit failures retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V414000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
Electric power steering failure due to tie rod bellows failure, this is an incredibly dangerous and irresponsible engineering design, moisture entered the electric motor causing it to fail, my wife's failed at highway speeds and almost caused a wreck, she could have been killed, if I could afford to sue I would, our other vehicle is down and we are forced to drive this dangerous vehicle putting us and others in harms way, this is terrible and absurd.
Recall 19V-645 / N192268490 was performed on my 2014 Chevy Silverado, prior to me purchasing the vehicle a month ago. A computer adjustment was completed in 2019. The vehicle has brake problems, ie: vehicle will ease forward with brakes applied or while stopped. Upon re-applying brakes I have a HARD brake pedal. Dealer stated that recall was completed and I will have to pay to get vehicle fixed. The problem I am experiencing with this vehicle is the same problem that was addressed in the original recall. Computer adjustment did not fix the problem and a new vacuum pump should be installed on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local GM dealer on 15 September 2025. . If problem is not addressed properly, the vehicle brakes would/could cause an accident, at low speeds or move forward while vehicle is stopped. With vehicle in reverse, braking is harder than in forward causing potential accident.
Brake pedal gets hard and brakes become inoperative
When my speed decreases to slow for a turn, traffic, red light,etc-I lose complete power in my entire vehicle. A too fast message pops up on dash about Stabilitrak. If I throw it in neutral fast enough it’s fine, but if I don’t, my truck loses all power and I have to open and close my door, restart my truck, the dash tells me to open and close my driver window, and it drives again but my time and date restarts on my dash screen like I disconnected the battery. It doesn’t happen every day. But when it does, it’s scary because I can’t get out of the road. This occurs unexpectedly several times a month for the past few months. I’ve checked for loose battery cables, etc
Vehicle is experiencing intermittent electrical issues, including vehicle completely shutting off while driving, driver window security warning message appears, radio, outside temp and fuel economy will reset when starting the truck. Last time it shut down while coming to a stop, a message appeared on the driver information screen saying “3 key programmed to vehicle”. Sometimes before it shuts down while driving, the radio and dash lights go out followed by engine stalling and there are different messages that appear briefly, like, service stabilitrac, roll driver window down & 3 keys programmed. The truck has shut down on me while operating 7 times in the last 3 months! This is EXTREMELY dangerous as i lose power steering & brakes! It has happened while in the middle of a busy intersection, in a round about, pulling into a parking spot, driveway and while driving straight on a road. I have cleaned & checked all ground locations, replaced the battery and alternator, cleaned battery terminals and Cables, checked all the fuses and nothing has made it stop!
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the transmission failed to respond as intend. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road to wait for tow truck assistance. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V152000 (POWER TRAIN); but the repair failed to fix the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred after the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 127,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of metal fragment chippings coming from the rear subframe of the vehicle. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 68,500.
Transmission it never gave us any warning that there was a problem.
When turning the power steering gave out and made the truck completely lose power while going and turning at a slow speed
Why is/was there no investigation in to the torque converters in these vehicles? I have the 5.3L V8. Took it to a tranny shop and he has five on his lot, same transmission same generation all same issue. He says they start eating themselves and he has a few with only five digit mileage that he still needs to fix. A guy in my firehouse is a parts manager for a Chevy dealership and knows the part number for the transmission off the top of his head because they fly through them and he has 19 in stock. Luckily I'm a good driver and when the transmission gave out on the highway I was able to control and get over without my kids getting hurt. But that is two shops confirming this is an issue. It's a safety issue. An expensive safety issue. There's even a tranny guy on Facebook that says the same thing because these are mostly all he works on. I'm a bit shocked you all allowed this to pass through. Granted the shop said the American made parts in the torque converters are the ones failing, so it would look bad. But my kids could have been hurt if my wife was driving and couldn't control the truck. This is an epic failure. Five digit mileage trucks coming in for the same issue. He told me to keep up whatever maintenance I'm doing because coming in at 130k is the second highest he has seen.
twice know i have had the truck shutdown when turning to the left at slow speed . Took the truck to a maint shop and they had three codes in the computer but nothing they could fix so they cleared the codes and said to drive it and if it happens again to bring it in and they'll see what they can find out ,but my have to go to agm service center to have it checked . so I'm drive carefully and hope not to have a accident.
Service Trailer Brake message constantly displays on the dash. But I don't haul trailers.
I believe Ray Chevrolet (Antioch, IL & Fox Lake, IL) are negligent in that they did not apply treatment as described in TSB #14002A while they had custody of our 2014 Chevy Silverado. The vehicle has been maintained mostly by the Fox Lake, IL location, but was purchased at the Antioch, IL location new. TSB #14002a clearly states that before the vehicle is released to the customer that the treatment should be applied. The vehicle has been maintained mostly at the Ray Chevrolet Fox Lake, Il 60020 dealership location over the past 10 or 11 years. Not once did any mechanic or service advisor mention TSB #14002A nor the deteriorating state of the truck's frame. This became a safety issue as described below. I was traveling on [XXX] which is under construction. I hit a bump and temporarily lost control of the vehicle. I also talked to my wife who also drives the vehicle. She said it sounded like an empty gas can was rolling around in the truck's bed. I took the vehicle into Ray Chevrolet at the Fox Lake, Il 60020 location and talked to a service advisor and told him about temporarily losing control of the vehicle and what my wife said about the loud bangs. We received notification from the Ray Chevrolet Fox Lake, Il dealership's service center via DM with a video attached. I watched the video and called the service advisor. The service advisor told me that the repair wasn't worth doing because it was more expensive to do than what the truck was worth. The same service advisor told my wife they would not do the repair which is replacing the truck's frame at an estimated cost of $15,000.00. He also told my wife that the truck is unsafe to drive. Because these service centers did not apply treatment either when the truck was purchased new or during the 10 or so years it's been serviced by these service centers, I believe these service centers have been negligent in their responsibilities to me and my wife. The truck has 106,044 miles. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
It’s throwing multiple codes for the BCM(body control model) and it’s show recall numbers 15V640000,17V43700 and 14V301000 are multiple recall numbers showing fro a BCM problem
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to wear the front driver's side seat belt, the contact became aware that the lap belt was loose and that the seat belt lap pretensioner cable had separated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V245000 (Seat Belts); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be covered under an unknown special coverage program due to the mileage. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.
the truck went in for the fuel injector number 6 again. went in on June 13 and on the 12 as well. on the 12 they said it was the number 6 coil. they then gave it back but the next day had to be returned again for the same problem. this time they found the number 6 fuel injector was possibly shorted out. the service manager did call and said that i was right that it was the fuel injector. i feel that i paid for a coil that should not have been replaced in the first place.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 30-65 MPH, the vehicle was shuddering abnormally. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced a failure with the torque converter. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
I am writing to report a significant mechanical failure with my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which I believe warrants further attention due to its potential safety implications and its connection to a widely documented defect affecting many GM vehicles equipped with Active Fuel Management (AFM) systems. The engine suffered lifter and camshaft failure. This is a well-known problem with GM trucks using AFM systems and can pose a safety hazard, particularly if the vehicle stalls while driving. Failed Component: The engine’s valve lifters and camshaft failed. The components and repair documentation are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This failure caused loss of power while driving, creating a risk of stalling in traffic, which could endanger both myself and other drivers on the road. Confirmed Diagnosis: The issue was confirmed by the dealership where I service my truck, Team Chevrolet in Las Vegas, NV. They identified the lifter and camshaft failure as the source of the symptoms. Inspection History: The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by the repair facility. I reported my concerns directly to General Motors and formally requested goodwill assistance and an extended warranty to cover the repairs. However, GM denied my goodwill and extended warranty request despite widespread reports and TSBs. Warning Signs: These warning signs began to show June, 2025 after picking it up from the service department at Team Chevrolet as it had been serviced. The truck was taken back to the dealership within 30 minutes of picking it up.
Driving down the road and turning into my driveway, the power steering went out, the truck cut off - then after a few minutes, the truck started, then the display showed “Open then close driver window” & now displays “Service Power Steering, Drive With Care”
I was driving home from work on 5/9/2025 and my truck slowly started to loose power and I almost got rear ended going up a hill. NO check engine lights or symptoms noted prior I was able to make it to the Chevy Dealer here in town where i Live and dropped off. dealer noted cyl 4 has a misfireand there is a tick noise on that bank.checked and found no compression on cyl 4, removed valve cover and found that the lifter for cyl 4 is broken and pushrod bent. After reasearching found this to be a common problem, contacted Chevy reagarding this as truck is low miles (88k) NO help offered.
Over the course of ownership the chassis of this vehicle has gotten horrendously corroded, which has caused structural components of the frame to begin to develop rust holes needing repair. These holes in the chassis are caused by the incorrect application of the factory chassis wax coating and has caused the entire frame to become deeply rusted through in many areas. Additionally I have been through two transmissions, the first occurring at around 55,000 miles of use, and the second around 105,000 miles. Seems there is a point of failure after around 50,000 miles on these transmissions.

The contact pulled over into a nearby parking lot and had the vehicle towed to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the transmission and the torque converter were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 220,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 50-65 MPH, the vehicle jerked and downshifted unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced hard and erratic transmission shifts while driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
When going at low speeds like through a parking lot when I apply my brakes they get rock hard and do not want to stop. I can get it stopped but just barely. When going at normal driving speed 30mph plus they are fine and stop fine. I almost pulled into a car in a parking lot because I almost couldn't stop due to my brakes failing. This happens every time I go at low speeds 25mph and less
EVERYTHING, it started with spark plugs and boots which is normal, then all of a sudden one ignition coil after the other, then the transmission, now it's the valve cover gaskets, the ENGINE oil cooler lines, the rear main seal, the oil pan itself, like literally everything. The places I took it advised probably getting a whole new engine. Mind you I just financed this truck 2 years ago. The transmission cost me $6,700 dollars out of pocket because my power train warranty wouldn't cover it because some wire. I don't know but there is seriously big problems with this year make and model. Also, the catalytic converters are bad and the exhaust manifold. All these things can't be wrong all at the same time unless there was a major issue prior to me financing when Chevrolet spit these trucks out.
While driving to work a month ago (3/19/25) I lost the power to accelerate out of nowhere. And my truck started making this noise, what I can only describe as a winding up noise while trying to accelerate. I was going 55mph on a busy morning commute. There were no warning lights. I pulled over and shut the truck off. Checked oil (even though it was changed a week or 2 prior). Oil was fine. Let truck sit for 10 mins then tried to turn back on, it started but had that winding up noise when just sitting in idle, the check engine light then came on after it was on for a minute or so. Ran codes at home, and truck started making an additional rattle noise on top of the winding up noise when had to be turned on. One code was the crankshaft position sensor, we changed that out. Then the truck wouldn't start. Taken to Dealership, and they said initially they found a broken connector to the engine harness. Fixed that then truck started but still making the rattle/clunk type noise and louder than at home so they continued diagnostics because they said the noise sounds like a rod knock, so rod either being bent/broken/slipping. Further diagnostics found that oil and coolant are mixed along with metal shavings through engine so new engine is needed.
