TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5MPH, THE STEERING LOST POWER AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO TURN RIGHT AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT AND POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED AUTOMATICALLY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BROKEN HAND THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AS THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE HAS A BRUSH GUARD. THE CORNER OF THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS SLIGHTLY DAMAGED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V414000 (STEERING) AT AUTONATION BUICK GMC CORPUS CHRISTI (6602 S PADRE ISLAND DR, CORPUS CHRISTI, TX 78412) HOWEVER, THE STEERING AND SERVICE STABILITRAK WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED AT THIS TIME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AND THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS OF UNKNOWN RECALLS AND THE LOSS OF STEERING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,300.
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CHEVY SILVERADO SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLICKER AS WELL AS MY DASH RADIO THAT FLASHED OFF AND CAME RIGHT BACK ON. WHILE THESE OTHER TWO THINGS WERE GOING ON A MESSAGE ON THE DASH APPEARED AS "SERVICE STABILITRAK". ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY THE SAME SPEED AS MENTIONED BEFORE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AND SUDDENLY THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATED AND THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" MESSAGE APPEARED ALONG WITH THE "DEACTIVED POWER STEERING", AS WELL AS THE SPEEDOMETER LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING. ALSO IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN I SIGNAL WHILE GOING OVER 70MPH, THIS IS USUALLY THE THING THAT COMMENCES ALL OF THE MESSAGES AND FLICKERING OF LIGHTS ALONG WITH WHAT I MENTIONED ABOVE.
2014 SILVERADO 1500 QUALITY ISSUES MY 2014 SILVERADO 1500 NEEDS A NEW $1,840 RADIATOR/OIL COOLER. THE TRUCK HAS 48,000 MILES PURCHASED NEW 5+ YEARS AGO, SO IT EXCEEDS THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. AT MY LAST 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE, THE OIL WAS FOUND TO BE 2 QUARTS LOW WITH OIL IN THE COOLANT. GM HAS REFUSED (TWICE) TO ASSIST IN THE COST OF REPAIRS BECAUSE I DID NOT USE A GM AUTO SERVICE FOR MY OIL CHANGES. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 5,000 MILES WITH DURABLEND BY AN INDEPENDENT QUICK OIL CHANGE SERVICE, A MILEAGE THAT EXCEEDS THE GM 7,500 MILEAGE RECOMMENDATION. I EXPLAINED TO GM CEO MARY BARA THAT I WAS UPSET WITH THIS DECISION - A TRUCK WITH 48,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THAT GM IS NOT ASSUMING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS QUALITY PROBLEMS. I FURTHER ADVISED THAT I WOULD SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS. LESS THAN SIX MONTHS AGO THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED - BUT LUCKILY IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK HAS HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS. NOW THE GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS CHARGING ME $147 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I'M NOT ENGAGING THEM TO DO THE REPAIR. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THIS TRUCK HAS CHRONIC QUALITY PROBLEMS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER CHECKING INTERNET -ALSO A FRIEND HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH YUKON. OBVIOUSLY IT WILL BE THE LAST GM VEHICLE I OWN.
MY TRUCK SHUTS IT'S SELF OFF AS YOUR DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. I WAS DOING 50 ON THE HIGHWAY TODAY WHEN IT SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. I PULLED OF THE ROAD PUT IT IN PARK TURNED THE KEY OFF. AND IT RESTARTED. THE TRUCK HAS ALSO HAD MANY OTHER ISUES WHEN I TOOK THE DEALER FOR THE BREAK RECALL THERE WERE 5 COADS ALL WERE ELECTRICAL ISSUES.THE STEERING ASSIST COMES ON WHEN DRIVING ALONG MINDING YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 18, 2020, I, [XXX], ENTERED THE STATED VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO ?BUCKLE-UP.? I GRASPED THE SEAT BELT.. AND PROCEEDED TO PULL INTO PLACE.... TO MY ASTONISHMENT THE END OF THE SEAT BELT ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE CAME RIGHT OUT OF THE SEAT. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO. UNFORTUNATELY, AT THAT INSTANT I WAS UNAWARE THAT A VOLUNTARY RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM ON APRIL 15 , 2016, FOR OVER 800,000 SIMILAR VEHICLES! I SERVICE MY SILVERADO AT THE PURCHASING DEALER SINCE PURCHASE DATE OF 06/17/14. MY QUESTION IS WHY DID THE CURRENT REPAIR PROTOCOLS NOT FIND & REPAIR THIS POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC SAFETY PROBLEM? WE AS CONSUMERS PLACE ALL OUR TRUST IN THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS AND ON-GOING CERTIFIED SERVICE CENTERS. THANK GOD THAT THIS EXPLANATION DID NOT COST ME OR MY FAMILY INJURY OR DEATH. WHILE TURNING IN REVERSE, THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. I WAS GOING ABOUT 3 MPH
SATELLITE-RADIO ANTENNA ON TOP OF TRUCK IS LEAKING INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. DAMAGE DONE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK DUE TO THIS HAPPENING.
THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTING ODDLY AND MORE SUDDEN THAN NORMAL AND WAS NOT GETTING ENOUGH POWER UNLESS THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED REALLY HARD. WHILE MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY (<60,000 MILES), THE DEALERSHIP, LAFFERTY CHEVY, INDICATED THE SHIFTING WAS A RESULT OF AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION THAT LEARNS MY DRIVING HABITS AND IT WAS NORMAL. NOW, THE PROBLEM IS WORSE 6 MONTHS LATER, AND THE CAR IS OUT OF POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY (65K MILES), AND THEY INSPECTED IT FURTHER AND HAVE TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE FULLY REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION AND POWER TRAIN MADE IT VERY SAFE TO DRIVE THESE PAST FEW MONTHS AND GM KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND THE DEALER SAID NOTHING ABOUT THIS UNTIL THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE AND IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY.
WHILE BACKING UP AT LOW SPEED, LESS THAN 5 MPH, MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AND WOULD NOT DEPRESS. VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER STRIKING THE CURB. SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, AND RE-STARTED IT A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. OCCURRED AT APARTMENT COMPLEX PARKING LOT.
MY SEATBELT HAS LOCKED ON ME A COUPLE OF TIMES WITHOUT EVEN BEING ON BREAK AN THE FOOT AREA IS EXTREMELY HOT . I'VE TOOK IT TO GET SERVICED AN IT STILLS DOES IT . MY STEERING WHEEL AN LOCKED ALSO I JUST DON'T DRIVE IT LIKE I USE TO AN I'M STILL PAYING A NOTE ON IT .VERY FRUSTRATING .I WAS DRIVING AT ALL TIME THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED
MY 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO, IT'S ELECKTRONICKS DEBILITY CONTROL SYSTEM COMES ON INADVERTENTLY, CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. MY TRACK SHE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT, BREAKS STOP WORKING, I HAVE GONE OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO CHEVRON WAY AT LEAST 5 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION. NOW MY VEHICLE AS A 101000 MILES AND THEY WILL NOT LOOK AT IT AGAIN WITH OUT MONEY. THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS VEHICLE I HAVE EVER DRIVEN, AND GENERAL MOTORS WILL NOT HELP ME AT ALL. CHEVROLET WILL NOT HONOR THIS IS YOU AND WOULD RATHER ME CRASH MY VEHICLE, THEN HELP ME RESOLVE IT. STAY AWAY FROM GENERAL MOTORS THEY ARE NOT PUTTING OUT GOOD PRODUCTS AT THIS TIME PERIOD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT REQUIRED EXTRA EFFORT TO SLOW OR STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY FIRM. THE SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBURBAN CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 12475 PLAZA DR, EDEN PRAIRIE, MN 55344, (952) 388-0061, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE ASSIST VACUUM PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND A SOFTWARE UPDATE NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE AS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE VACUUM PUMP WAS NOT REPLACED DUE TO PARTS BEING ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED ASE NUMBER: 9-5741973364. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
WHEN PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THIS MORNING I NOTICED AND ORANGE GLOW AND SMOKE FROM THE BACK WINDOW. IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE FROM THE BACK DEFROST THAT IS ON RECALL IN CANADA FOR THIS SAME VEHICLE. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL IN THE US? WHAT IF I WAS DRIVING AND MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR? COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE ANY ONE GETS HURT.
HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE EPS CUTTING OUT AFTER THE TRUCK WAS CRANKED AND THE WHEEL WAS TURNED IMMEDIATELY TO ONE SIDE. TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO DEAL WITH THE RECALL OUT ON THE VEHICLE WHICH DEALT WITH EPS CUTTING OUT. A WEEK LATER, WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT THE EPS CUT OUT YET AGAIN (THIS TIME WHILE MOVING) AND STRAIGHTENED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK UP. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD HIT BECAUSE I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. SOMEONE COULD HURT DUE TO THIS ISSUE. WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURS THE SERVICE POWER STEERING BOX POPS UP IN THE DASH.
FLEX FUEL SENSOR MALFUNCTION, CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO ON AND INABILITY TO REMOTE START CAR. VERIFIED WITH LOCAL THIRD-PARTY SHOP THAT NOTHING ELSE WOULD BE CAUSING THIS. DID NOT TAKE INTO LOCAL DEALERSHIP AS HAVE HAD PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH INCORRECTLY FIXING A VOLUNTARY RECALL SO WE UTILIZED THE THIRD PARTY SHOP INSTEAD. LOCATED A GM SPECIAL COVERAGE BULLETIN (#14289) FROM 2014 THAT INCLUDED OUR MAKE/MODEL REGARDING THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE, BUT THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. BUT CHEVROLET CAN NOT TELL ME WHY THE VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED AND CANNOT LOOK UP THE SPECIFIC COVERAGE I WAS TALKING ABOUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF ABOUT A YEAR, MAINLY IN THE WINTERTIME.

MOMENTS AFTER DEACTIVATING THE DEFROSTER, THE WINDOW SUDDENLY SHATTERED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 5726629104. THE LOCAL DEALERS WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. *DT*JB
WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND BEGINNING TO TURN, THE TRUCK ALMOST STALLS AND LOCKS UP ITS STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK, ALL DRIVING LESS THAN 5 MPH IN PARKING LOTS OR DRIVEWAYS WHERE I PUT ON THE BREAK AND TURN AT THE SAME TIME. THE TRUCK HAS STAYED ON ALL TIMES EXCEPT FOR ONCE. I TURNED KEY OFF, THEN ON AND WAS ABLE TO KEEP DRIVING.
ON THE EVENING OF 12/17/19 I REMOTELY STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT WARMED UP FOR PROBABLY TWO MINUTES. WE STARTED DRIVING AND SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND AN ELECTRICAL ARCING SOUND. IMMEDIATELY I TURNED OFF THE REAR DEFROST AS THAT IS WHERE THE SMOKE CAME FROM AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED. LUCKILY THE THREE KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT WERE NOT INJURED AND WE DIDN'T END UP IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT, AND GOT PARKED SAFELY. AFTER SOME RESEARCH THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER GM CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IN CANADA A TSB ADVISING TO REMOVE THE FUSE TO THE REAR DEFROST TO PREVENT THIS EVENT FROM HAPPENING. IT SEEMS THAT THIS POTENTIALLY COULD'VE BEEN PREVENTED SAVING ME A GOOD SCARE AND A WINDOW REPLACEMENT AT $840.00
MY TRUCKS TRACTION CONTROL WILL COME ON WHEN GETTING ON OR OFF ONRAMPS, TURNS IN THE MOUNTAINS, AROUND TOWN, EVERYWHERE. IT IS VERY SCARY, THE TRUCK WILL SHOW THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND BEGIN TO LOSE POWER AND BECOME HARD TO STEER. I WENT OFF THE FREEWAY YESTERDAY WITH MY WHOLE FAMILY IN THE TRUCK,. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY TAKING A RAMP TO ANOTHER FREEWAY AND THE LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRUCK LOST POWER, THE STEERING BECAME HARD TO TURN AND I COULD NOT MAKE THE FREEWAY EXCHANGE AND WENT OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO CHEVROLET 2 TIMES AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE EITHER UNABLE TO RECREATE THE SITUATION, OR THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR HAS THE VERY SAME TRUCK, YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS TRUCK IS A DEATHTRAP. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 YEARS WITH NO RESOLUTION. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM CHEVY, BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE IF WE GOT KILLED OR NOT, OR THEY WOULD HAVE KEPT WORKING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.
WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE AT LOW SPEED AND TURNING, THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS BACK THE OTHER DIRECTION REPEATEDLY. WHEN USING TURN SIGNALS THE DASH AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AS WELL AS WHEN I PRESS THE BREAK PEDAL SOMETIMES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF!
BRAKES DO NOT WORK AT LOW SPEEDS. BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES FIRM/LOCKED AND DOES NOT ALLOW THE PEDAL TO BE SUPPRESSED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ROLL AFTER DRIVER'S MAXIMUM POWER IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENS IN FORWARD AND REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ROLL WITH LITTLE TO NO CONTROL.
REAR-END HAS TO BE REBUILD. MAKING WHINING NOISE FOR ABOUT A YEAR. DEALER SAYS IT IS COMMON WITH VEHICLE. WHY IS CHEVROLET ALLOWING THIS.
THIS TRUCKS MODULE THAT CONTROLS THE SAFETY FEATURES AND CHIMES NOT WORKING, THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE FOR 2014-2015 NUMBER 14V301000 AND NUMBER 14315. DATE @6/6/2014. THIS TRUCK IS A 2014 BUT NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. GM WILL NO REPAIR UNDER THIS RECALL NUMBER. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE. IT DOESN'T REMIND YOU OF SEAT BELTS OR DOORS STILL OPEN OR LOW GAS ISSUES AND KEYS BEING LEFT IN THE IGNITION OR VEHICLE TRANSMISSION BEING LEFT IN DRIVE POSITION WITH DRIVERS DOOR BEING OPEN, WHICH WOULD ALLOW A DRIVER TO GET OUT WITHOUT BEING WARNING THAT VEHICLE IS STILL IN DRIVE AND POSSIBLE RUN DRIVER OVER IF DRIVER LEAVE THERE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION.
BOTH REAR LEFT AND RIGHT SEAT BELTS DO NO RETRACT ANY MORE.
CABLE THAT ATTACHES THE SEAT BELT HAS BROKEN FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE FIRST TIME GM REPLACED IT AND NOW THEY WILL NOT REPLACE IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE AT A LOW SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND REQUIRED EXTRA EFFORT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE POWER ASSIST FAILED. IN ADDITION, THE ABS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE AUDIBLE ABS CHIME WAS ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AT BOB POYNTER GM (1209 E TIPTON ST, SEYMOUR, IN 47274, (812) 672-4947). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the message "Service Trailer Brakes" was displayed. The contact stated that the failure occurred whether hauling a trailer or not. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring more frequently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown electronic trailer hitch part was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 14515. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE REVERSING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
