AT LOW SPEEDS, THE BREAKS ON MY TRUCK DO NOT WORK. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I NEED A NEW VACUUM PUMP. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE IS CURRENTLY AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALMOST COLLIDED WITH OBJECTS AND OTHER CARS MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENIG FOR CLOSE TO A YEAR AND A HALF NOW.
I HAVE A 2014 SILVERADO AND HAVE BEEN GETTING OFF AND ON GAS SMELL IN THE CAB. HAVE HAD A MECHANIC LIKE OK AT EVERY POSSIBILITY IT COULD BE AND HAVE FOUND NOTHING. HEAT IS ON AND IT IS WINTER TIME SOME TIMES WORSE WHEN YOU STOP AND THEN TURN RIGHT.
BRAKES STOPPED WORKING OR RATHER WERE VERY HARD TO APPLY. THIS WOULD HAPPEN IN SLOW TRAFFIC AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. DEALER SAYS THE VACUUM ASSIST WENT BAD. I
DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND STRUCK AN ONCOMING TRAILER AND ULTIMATELY LOST HIS LIFE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BUT STILL ON OUR POSSESSION. *TR
STABILITRAK LIGHT KICKS ON AND OFF, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND SHUDDERS WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS, HEADLIGHTS AND DASHLIGHTS BLINK LIKE THE TRUCKS ABOUT TO LOSE POWER. SEARCHING ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A DEVICE BULLETIN THAT FIXES THESE ISSUES, BUT I SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR A SAFETY AND COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS TRUCK. PIT5405A IS THE BULLETIN NUMBER.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT I STARTED TO PUSH MY BRAKE PEDAL AND I NOTICED IT WAS EXTREMELY HARD. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP WITHOUT CRASHING I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF. I CHECKED TO SEE IF I HAVE FLUID IN MY BRAKES BOOSTER AND IT WAS FULL. I GOT BACK IN THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT UP AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. A FEW MINUTES LATER MY ABS LIGHT AND STABLE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON. WE GOT THE TRUCK TO MY BUDDY SHOP AND HE WHEN ONLINE TRYING TO FIND A REPLACEMENT VACUUM PUMP AND SEEN ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE VACUUM PUMP. I CALLED CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND ASK THEM WHAT WE COULD DO. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE TRUCK IN AND I COULD PAY FULL PRICE TO HAVE EVERYTHING FIXED AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME A RIDE TO PICK UP A RENTAL CAR THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE.
THE POWERS STEERING GOES OUT WHEN PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE . THE CAR HAS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF WHILE WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN , SEEMS TO BE EFFECTED BY TURNING THE BLINKERS ON ? , IT'S LIKE THERE IS A COMPLETE GLITCH IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ? THE ELECTRIC DASH COMES ON AND OFF & YESTERDAY THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START .... I TRIED IT MULTIPLE TIMES AND FINIAL AFTER 15 MINUTES IT TURNED OVER AND NO MORE ISSUES YESTERDAY .
HEADLIGHTS FLICKER, RADIO HEAD UNIT FLICKERS, ERROR MESSAGES (SERVICE STABLITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, REDUCED STEERING ASSIST) DOORS OCCASIONALLY WILL LOCK AND UNLOCK AND THEN TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF ALL TOGETHER. STEERING WHEEL RANDOMLY JERK OUT OF YOUR HANDS. SOMEBODY WILL END UP DEAD IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT FIXED, AND RECALLED. VERY COMMON THROUGH MY RESEARCH IN 2014 SILVERADOS/SIERRA'S.
FOR THE 3RD TIME IS LESS THAN 3 WEEKS, I'VE HAD POWER BRAKING COMPLETELY FAIL AT LOW SPEEDS WHICH HAS NEARLY LED TO RUNNING INTO AN OBJECT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE (USUALLY ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE, MY HOME, OR SOMETHING ELSE NEARBY WHEN PARKING). I JUST NOTICED ON SEVERAL FORUMS THAT THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED, AND NOW I'M HEADING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PAY BETWEEN $600-1200 FOR REPAIRS ON MY 2014 VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 42K MILES.
STARTED VEHICLE PULLED OUT OF GARAGE AND POWER WENT OUT AND VEHICLE STOPPED EVERYTHING SHUT OFF. WOULDN'T START. NO POWER AT ALL. THEN WAITED ABOUT 1 MINUTE AND TRUCK STARTED AND EVERYTHING WAS RESET, CLOCK TIME. AND IT DISPLAYED SOME ERROR ON DASHBOARD ABOUT ROLLING DOWN WINDOW AND IT WILL CLEAR SYSTEM . BUT COULDN'T BECAUSE ABOUT 2 HOURS BEFORE I DROVE 7 MILES TO PICK MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL AND GOT OUT OF TRUCK GOT MY SON AND WHEN WE GOT BACK INTO TRUCK PUT KEY IN AND TURNED IT NOTHING TRUCK WOULDN'T START. NOTHING AT ALL. WAITED A MINUTE TRIED AGAIN TRUCK STARTED RIGHT UP. EXCEPT MY WINDOW WOULDN'T ROLL DOWN DRIVER FRONT WINDOW. EVERY OTHER WINDOW WORKS. THIS TRUCK IS BARELY 4 YEARS OLD.
: THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM TEMPORARILY FAIL WITHOUT WARNING DURING OPERATION, CAUSING THE AMOUNT OF EFFORT NEEDED TO TURN THE WHEEL TO FLUCTUATE DRAMATICALLY DURING THE MANEUVER AS THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM CYCLES ON AND OFF. THE ISSUE IS ESPECIALLY PREVALENT DURING LOW-SPEED MANEUVERS AND CAN BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE FAILURE OF OTHER SYSTEMS SUCH AS THE RADIO, STABILITY CONTROL, DOOR-LOCK CYCLING, AIR CONDITION OR CRUISE CONTROL. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY, WHEN I'M PARKING OR MAKING A TURN. I ALMOST CRASHED INTO A VEHICLE IN MID TURN AS I LOST POWER STEERING AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. I PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK.
I AM HAVING ISSUES STOPPING DUE TO A FAULTY BRAKE VACUUM PUMP SYSTEM. I AM HAVING REPAIRED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. RESULTED IS HAZARDOUS DRIVING PERFORMANCE.
MY STEERING WHEEL IS HARD TO MOVE AND THE A/C DOES NOT WORK
BRAKE VACUUM PUMP HAS DETERIORATED CAUSING INCREASED BRAKING EFFORT AND LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES AT SLOWER SPEEDS. VACUUM PUMP WAS REPLACED ON JANUARY 18, 2019, BUT WAS NOT COVERED BY A RECALL DESPITE NUMEROUS CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED AND WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V414000 (STEERING). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE RREVERSING AND CARRYING A 16' TRAILER DOWN A DRIVEWAY THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE POWER ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, THE POWER ASSIST FAILED, THE DOORS WOULD UNLOCK AND LOCK INTERMITTENTLY, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD TURN ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES BECAME MORE PERSISTENT AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL INVOLVING THE BRAKES. TOM BELL CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 800 ALABAMA ST, REDLANDS, CA 92374, 909-748-1833) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON MY VEHICLE. TURNS OUT IT IS CATALYTIC CONVERTER. MY VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED SO NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS GOING ON , BUT IT IS NOT NORMAL. THAT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE PEICE FOR IT TO GIVE OUT JUST LIKE THAT. IN ALL HONESTY HAS TO BE THE WORST MODEL OF CHEVY I HAVE OWNED. SO MANY PROBLEMS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY THIS CAN BE A PROBLEM IN A NEWER VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO GET CHECKED THE MECHANICS DIDN'T EVEN BELIEVE IT.
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AS I WAS DRIVING. THEN POWER STEERING WOULD WORK THEN GO OUT AGAIN.
WHEN 'FEATHERING' MY BRAKES WHENEVER I'M IN A SMALL AREA (PARKING LOT, FITTING INTO A SPACE, MY BRAKES GRIND WHILE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO ROLL ANOTHER FOOT OR SO WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN AT A STOP SIGN/RED LIGHT IF I DISENGAGE THE BRAKE TO MOVE FORWARD A BIT AND THEN TRY TO STOP. THIS HAPPENS WITH THE TRUCK IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. IT'S HAPPENED IN BOTH PARKING LOTS, MY DRIVEWAY, AND OFF RAMPS FROM A HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND THE RPMS INCREASED WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 SILVERADO 1500 TRUCK AT SLOW SPEEDS (UNDER 20 MPH), IN THREE DIFFERENT PARKING LOTS WITH PEDESTRIANS PRESENT, THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND TO ANY LEVEL OF FOOT PRESSURE. THESE FAILURES HAPPENED OVER A 30-MINUTE SPAN. THE TRUCK KEPT MOVING FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I WAS PULLING ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO HELP WITH DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH AS MUCH FORCE AS I COULD. I HAD TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL TO HELP STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON REVIEWING INTERNET BLOGS OF THIS ISSUE I FOUND OTHERS HERE ON NHTSA WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND ALSO FOUND GM/CHEVY HAD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS PUBLISHED FOR THIS ISSUE: PIT5361D & PIT5362B. WHAT FAILED WAS THE POWER BRAKE VACUUM PUMP/BOOSTER WHICH PROVIDES THE VACUUM FOR THE BRAKES TO FUNCTION. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY CHEVY DEALER FOR REPAIR. THIS BRAKE VACUUM PUMP/BOOSTER REPAIR COST ME $1,100.00 AS THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NOR WAS A RECALL AT THIS POINT. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WITH SO MANY OTHERS AFFECTED, MYSELF INCLUDED, WITH THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT IT IS NOT YET A FULL RECALL ITEM. FACT IS, YOU CANNOT DRIVE A VEHICLE WITHOUT WORKING BRAKES, PERIOD. IT IS NOT A SITUATION SUCH AS BRAKE PADS BEING WORN (THEY ARE NOT), IT IS THE CORE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE POWER BRAKE SYSTEM THAT FAILED AND SHOULD BE UNDER A MAJOR RECALL. HERE ARE THE PARTS THAT WERE REPAIRED/REPLACED: BRAKE VACUUM PUMP, VACUUM PUMP BELT, A/C BELT, AND PIPE FROM PUMP TO THE BOOSTER. PLEASE ESCALATE THIS COMPLAINT AS THIS PART FAILURE IN CHEVY TRUCKS, AS WELL AS GM AND CADILLAC AS SEEN FROM OTHER'S POSTS, IS A LIFE AND DEATH ISSUE WHEN OPERATING A VEHICLE WITH BRAKE SYSTEMS FAILURE SUCH AS THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE.
MY TRUCK HAS HAD 3 INSTANCES OF THE BRAKES NOT WORKING CORRECTLY IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. EACH TIME MY BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO PRESS DOWN AND MY TRUCK DID NOT STOP IN THE MANNER IT SHOULD HAVE. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IT WAS AFTER STOPPING AND PUTTING THE TRUCK INTO REVERSE TO PARK IT. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD AND WOULDN'T GO DOWN THE WAY IT SHOULD. AFTER EACH INCIDENT AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE THE SAME HARD PEDAL PREVENTED THE BRAKES FROM WORKING CORRECTLY GOING FORWARD. AFTER STOPPING, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AND RE STARTING THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. I FOUND A BULLETIN ONLINE THAT GENERAL MOTORS PUT OUT WHERE A MECHANIC INSPECTION SHOULD BE PERFORMED TO CHECK IF ANY OIL WAS IN THE BRAKE VACUUM LINE LEADING INTO THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER WITH THE OIL STEMMING FROM THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. UPON INSPECTION THERE WAS NO OIL FOUND AND MY MECHANIC PERFORMED AN OVERNIGHT PRESSURE TEST ON THE VACUUM PUMP ITSELF AND THE FOLLOWING DAY FOUND THERE WAS NO VACUUM LEAK DETECTED. THIS TEST WAS PERFORMED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AFTER MY SECOND INCIDENT. MY 3RD INCIDENT HAPPENED THIS PAST FRIDAY 12/21/2018. MY TRUCK DID NOT STOP THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE BACKING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND I WOUND UP HAVING MY TRUCK DRIVE INTO A CHAIN LINK FENCE AS MY BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN GOT REALLY HARD AND MY BRAKES FAILED. I AM VERY CONCERNED NOW THAT THERE IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW THAT DEVELOPED FROM A CASE OF POOR QUALITY MATERIALS USED IN THE MAKING OF THE PARTS OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. MY TRUCK IS RARELY USED IN A ROUGH OR CARELESS MANNER, RARELY PERFORMS TOWING AND HAS 88,000 MILES ON IT. A RECALL IS WAY OVERDUE REGARDING THE BRAKING SITUATION.
LOOSING BRAKES STARTS WHEN MOVING BACKWARDS I HAVE TO PUT BOTH FEET ON PEDAL TO STOP, THEN DOES SAME THING WHEN MOVING FORWARD. DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. STARTED AT ABOUT 29000 MILES HAVE ABOUT 29500 ON IT NOW HAVEN'T DRIVEN IN A FEW MONTHS
THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CLAIMING THE THE TRACTION WAS UNSTABLE, ASSISTANCE REQUIRED. THEN WHEN TRUCK WAS IN MOTION AND WAS MAKI G A TURN THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES.
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON THE 101, IN CALABASAS CA. AS I TRIED TO BRAKE THE PEDAL GOT VERY HARD. EVERY TIME I BRAKED IT WAS TAKING LONGER TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I'M TRAVELING TO MEXICO WITH MY FAMILY. I WILL TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN SIMI VALLEY, CA. I CONSIDER THAT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION OF ALL THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT MAKES IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR ALL OCCUPANTS AND OTHER DRIVERS WHO ARE NEXT TO THEM. I HOPE YOU TAKE IN CONSIDERATION MY CONCERN.
FUEL PUMP/FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR FAILURE AT 34000 MILES. DRIVING VEHICLE AT 40MPH AND SUDDENLY ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND TRUCK DIED. LOST ALL POWER AND COULD BARELY PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD IN BUSY TRAFFIC. DRIVING ON STATE HWY 15 NORTH BOUND. FORTUNATELY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE PICKUP. DEALER REPAIRED AND SAID IT WAS A RELATIVELY COMMON PROBLEM. SECOND COMPLAINT WAS WIPER FAILURE IN HEAVY SNOW/WIND ON COUNTY HWY 29 BROWN CTY MN. FUSE BLOCK CORRODED AND CAUSED FAILURE. TRAVELLING AT 55MPH WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED. MANAGED TO DRIVE HOME (2 MILES) WITH OUT INCIDENT BUT VERY DANGEROUS. THE PART WAS DESCRIBED BY THE DEALER AS THE BCM FUSE BLOCK. BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS WERE LIFE THREATENING.
AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE BRAKING AFTER 2-4 PUMPS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD AND I NEED TO USE EXTRA FORCE TO APPLY BRAKES. HAS HAPPENED WHILE BOARDING A FERRY DUE TO PRESSING THE BRAKE CONTINUOUSLY TO AVOID GOING TO FAST WHILE PARKING ON BOARD,AND DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IF THE GAS PEDAL WASN'T USED TO RESET VACUUM PRESSURE.
THE VEHICLE SUFFERED INTERMITTENT FAILURES TO START (ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK). THE INITIAL ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE ISSUE BY THE DEALER WAS TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. THE BATTERY BEING REPLACED WAS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND IT WAS THE SECOND BATTERY THE DEALER HAD REPLACED IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS. THE INITIAL REPAIRS FAILED. ULTIMATELY, THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY STARTER MOTOR. A CHECK OF THE PART NUMBER OF THE FACTORY STARTER MOTOR THAT HAD BEEN REMOVED (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO) INDICATES IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO/GMC SIERRA 1500 WITH THE 4.3L V6 ENGINE. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE HAS THE 5.3L V8 ENGINE. EITHER THE INCORRECT PART WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY OR GM DETERMINED IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE 5.3L V8 ENGINE AND DISCONTINUED USING IT FOR THIS MODEL. REGARDLESS, GM NEVER MADE ANY NOTIFICATION OF THE ISSUE.
PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW IN 2014 AND CURRENTLY HAS 50K (12/18) ON VEHICLE. SIGNIFICANT DEGRADATION OF WAX UNDERCOAT ON FRAME, PEELING OFF ALLOWING WATER ETC TO BE TRAPPED BENEATH IT. FRAME HAS SIGNIFICANT RUST ON AREAS WHERE UNDERCOATING FAILED. DEALER RECOMMENDS THE FRAME BE REPAIRED AND RUST STOPPED TO "SAVE WHAT IS LEFT OF IT". DEALER SAYS GM WILL NOT COVER REPAIR. EMAILED GM AND NO REPLY
MOISTURE FORMING ON INSIDE OF WINSHIELD
TRUCK HAS 53,000 MILES AND AIR CONDITION WENT OUT. NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY ACCORDING TO CHEVY DEALER.
WHILE BACKING WITH TRAILER DOWN LONG DOWNHILL GRADE, BRAKES FADE AND GET HARD TO PUSH, REDUCING STOPPING POWER TO THE POINT THAT IT'S NOT CERTAIN I WILL BE ABLE TO STOP.

MY SILVERADO HAS AROUND 56K MILES. TWO DAYS AGO THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL FALLING TO THE FLOOR STARTED. THIS IS AT LOW SPEEDS AND ESPECIALLY AFTER USING THE BRAKES A FEW TIMES. THIS IS NOT THE ABS KICKING IN. I WAS A SERVICE MANAGER FOR FORD FOR YEARS AND IT FEELS LIKE WHEN A BRAKE BOOSTER GOES BAD. VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF AT FX CAPRARA CHEVROLET IN PULASKI NY THIS MORNING FOR DIAGNOSIS AS THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE LIKE THIS. VEHICLE WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT TWICE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS PEDAL FEEL BECOMES HARD AND VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE INSTANCES WHERE THIS ISSUE HAS ALMOST ENDED IN A COLLISION
THE AIR BAG LIGHT NEVER GOES AWAY
APPLYING THE BRAKES REQUIRES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED A DAMAGED/FAULTY VACUUM PUMP AS THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. THIS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER DRIVER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP ON A CITY STREET IN WILLIAMSBURG, VA AT A RED LIGHT.
BRAKES ARE FAILING AT LOW SPEEDS. FROM OTHER REPORTS IT SEEMS TO BE THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, I NEARLY REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND ONLY THE CURB ACROSS THE STREET STOPPED THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (MIKE RICKENBACH, 10 UNIVERSITY PKWY, OKATIE, SC 29909) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,500.

I TOOK IT TO GET IT CHECKED OUT BACK IN AUGUST I BELIEVE AND ALL THEY TOLD ME WAS NOTHING IS WRONG. I CAN NOT KEEP DRIVING THIS OR HAVING MY WIFE DRIVE MY KIDS AND RISK LOOSING THEM! MY TRUCK HAS LOST POWER 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AS A RESULT, BUT I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE. FIRST OCCURRENCE, I WAS IN MOTION BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. SECOND OCCURRENCE, I WAS LEAVING MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND TURNING RIGHT WHEN I LOST ALL POWER AND DRIFTED INTO TRAFFIC. THIRD OCCURRENCE, I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND ENDED UP ON MY NEIGHBORS FRONT LAWN. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THEY MADE 3 ATTEMPTS AT FIXING, I PAID EACH TIME, AND NOTHING HAS BEEN REPAIRED.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, I'D SAY ABOUT 4, WHEN REVERSING SLOWLY IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WENT OUT. I HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN IN ORDER TO GET THE TRUCK TO COMPLETELY COME TO A STOP.
AFTER DRIVING EXTENSIVELY THROUGH SEVERAL TOWNS, CITIES AND ON HIGHWAYS, THE BRAKES WENT OUT AS WE TURNED INTO OUR DRIVEWAY. HAROLD CHEVROLET (DEALER AND SERVICE) REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKE BOOSTER, VACUUM PUMP AND HOSE BECAUSE THE VACUUM PUMP LEAKED INTERNALLY INTO BRAKE BOOSTER. ($1638.86) THIS IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE NEWSPAPER, YOU ARE AWARE BUT HAVE FAILED TO WARN OWNERS. INJURY AND LOSS OF LIFE IS A REAL POSSIBILITY. I USE THIS TRUCK TO BACK MY BOAT INTO THE LAKE SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. IF THE BRAKES HAD FAILED, I DO NOT THINK I COULD HAVE SURVIVED WITH MY AGE (73) AND DISABILITY (NEUROPATHY OF FEET AND LEGS.)THIS REALLY STRESSES ME.
THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC RAMAPO VALLEY ROAD (AKA RT 202) IN OAKLAND NJ WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, I TRIED TWICE BEFORE STEPPING ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AT THE SAME TIME I STEPPED ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BUT MY VEHICLE HAS A DENT IN THE FRONT BUMPER FROM THE TOW HITCH ON THE CAR I HIT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED AT THE SCENE. THE POLICE OFFICER ARRIVED AND MOVED MY TRUCK CONFIRMING THERE WAS A BRAKE FAILURE. THE POLICE OFFICER MOVED MY TRUCK TO A DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE ROAD AND A MESSAGE REGARDING A BRAKE ASSIST FAILURE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. NO INDICATION WAS DISPLAYED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE POLICE OFFICER DECLARED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HAD IT TOWED AND IMPOUNDED. AFTER GETTING A VEHICLE RELEASE MY TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN LITTLE FALLS NJ WHERE THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR CONFIRMED THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILED. I WAS CONTACTED BY GM AND GAVE THEM INFORMATION REGARDING THE ACCIDENT. THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR INFORMED ME GM INVESTIGATORS WERE GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO INSPECT THE FAILURE. I FOUND A GM SERVICE BULLETIN DATED JUNE 2016, BULLETIN NUMBER PIT5361B DESCRIBING THIS FAILURE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET GM TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES SINCE THE TRUCK IS LESS THAN 5 YEAR OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 100000 MILE ON IT, IT HAS ABOUT 45000 MILES ON IT. THIS PART IS NOT A PART THAT IS EXPECTED TO WEAR OF INSPECTED DURING NORMAL MAINTENANCE.
FRONT DRIVER SEAT IS NOT TIGHT. HEATED SEAT NOT WORMING LIGHT ON BUT NO HEAT
THE VACUUM PUMP TO THE TRUCK BRAKES WENT BAD. I LOST MY BREAKS COMPLETELY AND COULD NOT ENGAGE ANY MOVEMENT IN THE BREAKS TO STOP THE TRUCK.. LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT COST US OVER $800 DOLLARS FOR THIS REPAIR.
I STARTED MY TRUCK AND WHILE IN A PARKED POSITION THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYS A MESSAGE REGARDING POWER-STEERING HAS BEEN REDUCED, PLEASE DRIVE WITH CAUTION. I GOOGLED IT AND NOTICE THAT MY PARTICULAR MODEL HAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND RE-CALLED. I CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID SINCE MY VIN # HAS NO OPEN RECALLS, THEY COULDN'T ASSIST AND THAT I HAVE THE OPTION TO TAKE IT TO A SERVICE SHOP AND PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX. IT IS FRUSTRATING THAT WITH ALL THE INFORMATION ONLINE I COULDN'T GET ANY HELP ON THIS MATTER.
