TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A GROWLING NOISE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE FIFTH TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TWO REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED AT JIM GLOVER CHEVROLET (707 W 51ST STREET, TULSA, OK 74107). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 328,665.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (STONEBRIAR CHEVROLET, 9950 TX-121, FRISCO, TX 75035), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,600.
WHILE TRAVELLING AT 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO TURN INTO A STORE PARKING LOT. THE TRUCK SLOWED SOME, THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO DEPRESS WITH THE TRUCK STILL ROLLING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR (NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OF COURSE) COST OF $1400. GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER SHOWED ME A "BULLETIN" THEY RECEIVED TELLING THEM PROBABLE CAUSES AND PART NUMBERS. I CALLED GM. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE JUST WEREN'T ENOUGH REPORTED PROBLEMS TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL YET. IF YOU GOOGLE THE BRAKE PROBLEM THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. SOME WITH NARROWLY MISSED ACCIDENTS. I HAD NO TYPE OF WARNING THAT THERE MIGHT A PROBLEM. GM SAID "SORRY, CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR YOU. KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS IN CASE A SAFETY RECALL COMES DOWN." I TOLD GM I HOPE IT DOESN'T TAKE A NUMBER OF TRAGIC ACCIDENTS TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. OH, AND THE $1400 REPAIR BILL GETS ME THE SAME CRAPPY PARTS THAT FAILED!
AT ONLY 42,000 MILES (WARRANTY IS 36,00 OR 3 YEARS) THERE IS A CRACK IN MY A/C HOSE. THE A/C WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THEY FOUND A CRACKED HOSE AT DEALERSHIP PART # 2348932 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH A BRACKET COSTING $750.00. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A TRUCK WITH VERY LITTLE MILEAGE.
THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE IS SOMETIMES THE TRUCK WILL JUST STOP BASICALLY THERE WON'T BE ANY POWER WHATSOEVER, EVERYTHING JUST SHUTS DOWN AND WILL NOT START, WE WERE ON TINY TOWN ROAD WHEN IT HAPPENED AND ON FORT CAMPBELL BLVD, WE HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE COME WITH JUMPER CABLES AND HELP ME START THE TRUCK IT HAS DONE THAT AT LEAST 3 TIMES. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THEY COULD T FIND ANYTHING. ALSO SINCE I GOT IT I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES. THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE AT LEAST 4 TO 5 TIMES, WHEN WE WOULD TAKE IT ON THE INTERSTATE IT WOULD SHAKE WHEN WE WOULD PUT THE BRAKES ON AND SO WE TOOK IT IN MORE THAN ONCE TO FIX IT. ALSO THERE IS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM AS WELL. IT JUST SEEMS THERE IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE AND I'M SO TIRED OF THIS TRUCK.
NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THIS VEHICLE WILL HAVE ISSUES WHEN TURNING? ON 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THIS VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY WILL SUDDENLY TURN OFF COMPLETELY ON ITS OWN AND THEN SUDDENLY TURN BACK ON AFTER I RELEASE THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 75MPH ON HWY I-35 WHILE I WAS CHANGING LANES.
UNDER LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL GETS VERY HARD AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE EXPECTED OR TYPICAL STOPPING POWER. THE PROBLEM IS EXACERBATED WHEN TOWING AND ON HILLS. A SERVICE BULLETIN HAS BEEN POSTED BY GM (PIT5361B) DETAILING THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY POOR VACUUM SUPPLIED TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AT LOW ENGINE SPEEDS. FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM ON AN INCLINE WHILE TOWING A BOAT, THE TRUCK COULD NOT STOP THE SETUP WITHIN A FEW FEET EVEN AT WELL LESS THAN 5 MPH. CONTINUES WHEN BACKING DOWN THE BOAT RAMP AND EVEN STOPPING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE BRAKES FAIL WHEN IN REVERSE AND NEAR OTHER VEHICLES. SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT KURTIS CHEVROLET MOREHEAD CITY NC, INFORMED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE BUT THAT NOT ENOUGH PATRON HAVE COMPLAINED TO SUPPORT A RECALL. THIS SAFETY ISSUE OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE OR FORWARD IN TRAFFIC.
BRAKE PEDAL IS EXTREMELY HARD TO PUSH WHEN MOVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS(BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC) AS WELL AS REVERSING INTO DRIVEWAY CLOSE TO TO OTHER VEHICLES HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, HAVE TAKEN INTO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO NO AVAIL.
A/C WENT OUT, COMING UP ON SOME HOT DAYS. THE A/C HOSE AFTER ONLY 41000 MILES HAS WORN A HOLE IN IT SOMEHOW. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? DEALERSHIP IN SAN LEANDRO WANTS $750 TO REPLACE IT. I HAVE SEEN ISSUES WITH THE CONDENSOR WONDERING IF PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS AS WELL.
ON JUNE 3, 2018 UPON CRANKING THE TRUCK, THE A/C BEGAN BLOWING EXTREMELY HOT AIR TO THE POINT IT LEFT A RED MARK ACROSS MY HAND AFTER FEELING FOR THE VENT WAITING FOR THE TEMPERATURE TO COOL DOWN. IT WAS 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND RAINING SO WINDOWS COULDN'T BE ROLLED DOWN. WINDSHIELD REMAINED FOGGY DUE TO HUMIDITY WITHIN THE TRUCK AND I HAD TO PULL OVER FREQUENTLY WHEN DRIVING IN ORDER TO WIPE THE WINDSHIELD TO BE ABLE TO SEE. TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE TRUCK, ONE IN A REAR FACING CAR SEAT WERE BEYOND OVER HEATED AND WELL ON THEIR WAY TO HEAT EXHAUSTION BY THE TIME WE REACHED THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO TEMPERATURES REACHING ABOVE 95 WITHIN THE CAB. TRUCK WAS SEEN AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED DUE TO VIBRATION FROM DRIVING, THE A/C DISCHARGE HOSE WAS CRACKED ALLOWING THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE TO BE BLOWN DIRECTLY INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. HOSE WAS REPLACED AD A BRACKET ADDED TO IMPROVE THE STABILITY OF THE HOSE AND REFRIGERANT ADDED. EIGHT MONTHS AND 4 DAYS LATER, A/C SUDDENLY BEGAN BLOWING HOT AIR AGAIN. WAS ADVISED AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE HIGH SIDE SERVICE PORT WAS NOW LEAKING AND NEEDED A VALVE REPLACEMENT AND REFRIGERANT ADDED AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (ROTOLO CHEVROLET, 16666 S HIGHLAND AVE, FONTANA, CA 92336) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V414000 (STEERING), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
KNOCK IN STEERING WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS. RACK AND PINION HAS A KNOCK
THIS IS THE WORST PAINT JOB I HAVE EVER HAD ON A VEHICLE. WE BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW FROM PASO ROBLES CHEVROLET ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2014. BY SUMMER OF 2018, THE PAINT HAD STARTED PEELING OFF THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR OF CHEVROLETS. CHEVROLET AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HELP. THIS YEAR I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO GET THE DOORS PAINTED WHICH COST ME $2,500. WHILE AT THE BODY SHOP, THEY DISCOVERED THREE MORE PLACES THAT THE PAINT IS CHIPPING AND PEELING OFF. I PUT IN ANOTHER CASE WITH CHEVROLET AND THEY DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE.
INCIDENT OCCURRED ON MAY 27TH, 2018. AT 65 MPH (INTERSTATE) GOING ON A DOWNHILL GRADE OF APPROXIMATELY 6%, TOWING AN APPROXIMATE 2500 LB TRAILER WITH WET ROADS TO SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN APPLIED BRAKES LIGHTLY, THE TRANSMISSION UPSHIFTED (HIGHER RPM), APPLIED BRAKES AGAIN, UPSHIFTED AGAIN, DID A THIRD TIME, UPSHIFTED AGAIN (NOW AT 4000 RPM). HAD TO TAP THE GAS TO GET THE TRUCK TO DOWNSHIFT. TRANSMISSION WAS SET IN DRIVE, NOT MANUAL MODE. THIS IS A REPEATABLE CONDITION; IT DOES NOT MATTER IF TRAILER MODE ON THE TRANSMISSION IS SELECTED OR NOT. LESS DOWNGRADES (APPROXIMATELY 3% OR LESS) DO NOT SEEM TO CAUSE THE ISSUE. TRANSMISSION PROGRAMMING SEEMS TO HAVE AN ERROR. THIS IS HIGHLY UNDESIRABLE AND COULD LEAD EASILY TO AN ACCIDENT.
WHEN TURNING INTO PARKING LOT TODAY AT LOW SPEED, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WENT CRAZY, SCREEN FLASHED POWER STEERING FAILURE, STABILITRAC FAILURE, DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED AND ENGINE DIED. RESTARTED AND WAS FINE DRIVING FORWARD AND REPEATED FAILURES AGAIN WHEN TURNING TO PARK IN PARKING SPACE. IT IS FORTUNATE THIS WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON INTERSTATE OR OTHER MAIN ROAD OR WHILE TURNING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THERE WAS A RECALL IN FALL OF 2017 FOR POWER STEERING THAT WAS REPAIRED AT DEALERSHIP UPON NOTIFICATION. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR ADVISED IT SOUNDED AS IF THERE WAS A POOR CONNECTION OF A BATTERY CABLE. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF A IT'S A BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION ISSUE, THEN GM HAS ANOTHER SAFETY PROBLEM THEY NEED TO ADDRESS SINCE I'VE READ NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES, AND IN MY OPINION, THERE MUST BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IF BATTERY CABLES JUST COME LOOSE FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE IS VERY SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION. GM SEEMS TO BE AWARE OF THE OTHER REPORTED ISSUES AND HAS TAKEN NO MEASURES TO CORRECT IT. MAYBE ALL OF US WHO OWN THEIR VEHICLES SHOULD FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND THEY MIGHT GET OFF THEIR [XXX] AND DO SOMETHING! I CERTAINLY WON'T HESITATE TO FILE A CIVIL COMPLAINT FOR PRODUCT LIABILITY IF A FAMILY MEMBER IS HURT AS A RESULT OF THEIR CONTINUED NEGLIGENCE. WE HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH OUR TRANSMISSION GOING INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. LOSES POWER AS IF IT WERE PUT INTO NEUTRAL. ALSO OUR AIR CONDITIONING IS HORRIBLE.
PAINT IS FLAKING AWAY VERY EASILY
WHILE CONDUCTING LOW SPEED MANUVEURS RADIO AND DASH FLASHES OFF, THEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE VEHICLE IS STILL IN DRIVE CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST AND BRAKE ASSISTANCE. DASH AND RADIO TURN BACK ON AND WARNING MESSAGES STATING STABILITRAK DISABLED, STEERING ASSISTANCE REDUCED, 2 KEYS PROGRAMMED, OPEN AND CLOSE DRIVERS WINDOW, AND PARK ASSIST DISABLED ARE DISPLAYED. DEALERSHIP THINKS THIS COULD BE DUE TO CORROSION IN THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX AND RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, THE STEERING WHEEL SNATCHES AWAY FROM YOUR HAND. WHEN DOING SO, THE LOCKS UNLOCK AND LOCK, THEN THE STABILITRACK LIGHT COMES ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND TWICE THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS TURNING INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHEN IT DID BECAUSE IT SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. SHE IS SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AND I OWE WAY TOO MUCH MONEY TO TRADE IT IN. I'VE TAKEN IT TO MY DEALERSHIP HERE AND THEY TRIED REPROGRAMMING IT DUE TO A RECALL BUT THAT DID NOT FIX IT. WHEN I CALLED TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE, THEY REPLIED THAT IT WOULD BE A MINIMUM OF 1 1/2 HOUR LABOR TO DIAGNOSE IT AND THAT IT $110 AN HOUR. I'VE NOTICED WHILE LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE YEAR MODEL TRUCK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY FACTOR AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS. PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET STATE THAT IT IS A GROUNDING PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO AT ANY SPEED IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF WHILE TURNING COMPLETELY DISABLING THE ENGINE, THIS ALSO HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL START AND SOMETIMES VEHICLE WON'T FOR SEVERAL MINUTES I WISH GM WOULD RECALL THIS VEHICLE THAT I HAVE ONLY OWNED FOR 2 MONTHS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED I BOUGHT IT FROM PHIL LONG FORD IN COLORADO SPRINGS, I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY ISSUES WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE THEY'VE HAD MY TRUCK FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND I DON'T SEE THEM FINDING ANY ANSWERS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAIRWAY CHEVROLET TRUCK MEGA STORE (3100 E SAHARA AVE, LAS VEGAS, NV 89104, (702) 948-7865) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY WIRE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A SOFTWARE MALFUNCTION IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING DURING TURNS AT LOW SPEEDS AND WILL ALSO TURN VEHICLE OFF. IF VEHICLE DOES NOT TURN OFF, VEHICLE WILL DISPLAY "REDUSED POWER STEERING ASSIST" AND A STABILITRAK WARNING. IF VEHICLE TURNS OFF, VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN ON RIGHT AWAY AND DASHBOARD DISPLAY WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN KEY IS IN THE ON POSITION. AFTER ATTEMPTS TO TURN VEHICLE ON, THE SMELL OF BURNING WIRES IS SMELLED IN THE CAB WITH NO OBVIOUS ELECTRICAL FIRE.
A/C ISSUES WITH TRUCK, THIS TRUCK AND MANY OTHER 2014/2015 SILVERADO'S HAVE ISSUES, AS ANYONE CAN LOOK ONLINE AND SEE. IV CALLED CHEVROLET AND TOLD THEM OF MY PROBLEMS AND ISSUES, THEY TOLD ME TO FILE A COMPLAINT AT THIS WEBSITE
I HIT A POLE. HAD A MINOR ACCIDENT. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY AS I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ALL OF THE AIRBAGS. NEARLY CAUSING ME TO RUN OFF OF THE ROAD. BECAUSE THEY DEPLOYED I SUFFERED BRUISING. THEY DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN I HAD THE MINOR ACCIDENT, BUT ABOUT 30 MINUTES AFTERWARDS.
PAINT PEELING..PAINT ON HOOD, SIDE DOORS BY WINDOWS ARE PEELING
PAINT IS PEELING. STARTED OUT WITH A SMALL PIECE OF PAINT PEELING ON THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THIS EVENING I FOUND A MUCH LARGER PLACE MISSING PAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE WINDSHIELD. I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2014+ MODEL YEARS. IS ANYTHING BEING RESEARCHED OR DONE ABOUT THIS SO THAT GM IS WILL CORRECT THE ISSUE? I EXPECT MORE FROM A $40K+ VEHICLE.
WHILE TURNING MY TRUCK ALL ELECTRONICS WANT TO FLASH MY LOCKS WILL LOCK /UNLOCK,MY LIGHTS WILL FLICKER OR FLASH, PARK ASSIST UNAVAILABLE WILL POP UP ON DASHBOARD AND MY TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF WHILE IM TRYING TO TURN
A/C ONLY BLOWS HOT AIR, CANNOT DEFOG WINDOWS AT CERTAIN TIMES AND INCREASES THE LIKELY HOOD OF MY NEWBORN GETTING OVER HEATED. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY SAID IT IS THE NHTSA THAT WILL NOT DO THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT DANGEROUS. WELL WE WILL SEE HOW DANGEROUS IT IS WHEN WE CANT SEE BECAUSE IT WILL NOT DEFOG WINDOW OR WHAT THE HOSPITAL BILL WILL BE WHEN MY NEWBORN OVERHEATS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY A/C COMPRESSOR AND BRACKET FOR THE HOSE. A 2014 SHOULD NOT NEED A $1600.00 REPAIR. THAT IS 3 MONTHS PAYMENTS FOR A A/C.
AIR COMPRESSOR OUT IN 2014 SILVERADO. KNOWN DEFECT AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR CAB DOOR LOCK WILL NOT LOCK USING THE KEY FOB. IT REMAINS UNLOCKED, WHEN ALL OTHER DOORS ARE LOCKED. THE LOCK ON THE DOOR HAS TO BE MANUALLY BE DEPRESSED IN ORDER TO KEEP DOOR. THE SAME DOOR DOES NOT UNLOCK USING THE KEY FOB.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,250.
MY VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER TWICE WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ON BUSY ROADS. ONCE BY MYSELF AND THE SECOND WITH MY FOUR GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER FIRST INCIDENT PAID 300 DOLLARS FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY TOLD ME COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEN IT HAPPEND AGAIN THE SECOND TIME IN A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH MY FOUR YOUNG GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2017 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM FOR THIS YEAR VEHICLE BUT THEY ARE CLAIMING MINE ISN'T UNDER THAT RECALL AND REFUSING TO FIX IT. BOTH TIMES IT HAS HAPPEND THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GOES OUT AND THE TRUCK POWER SHUTS DOWN AND LOCKS UP ANYTHING CONNECTED TO THE TRUCK. ( FOR EXAMPLE MY PHONE WAS CHARGING AND IT LOCKED UP MY PHONE AFTER IT DID THIS) I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND CANNOT GET THE CHEVY(GENERAL MOTORS) DEALERSHIP TO HELP ME. THEY ARE CLAIMING NOT TO HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE RECALL IN 2017 AT ALL. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS TRUCK FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND IT HAS DONE THIS TO ME NOW 2 TIMES IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. AT 100,763 MILES THE TRANSMISSION BEGINS CAVITATING, LOSS OF POWER WHILE TRAVELING AND WITH LOUD INTERMITTING SOUNDS OF METAL ON METAL. GOT THE TRUCK IN FOR LOCAL TRANSMISSION SERVICE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BURNT AND LITTERED WITH HEAVY METAL FRAGMENTS FROM THE TRANSMISSION GEARS. OTHER LOCAL (FRIENDS) OF 2014 TRUCK OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS CONDITION WHICH ALL RESULTED IN A TRANSMISSION REBUILD WHICH IS $4,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE STRANGE PROBLEM IS THEY ARE FAILING AT 100K MILES AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN SENT SERVICE ADVISORIES TO NOT WARRANTY ANY POWERTRAINS AFTER 100K MILES EVEN IF THE DATE IS STILL EFFECTIVE. THIS TRUCK WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE CAVITATION BEGAN AND SHORTLY AFTER (100 MILES OR SO) BEGAN METAL ON METAL SOUNDS AND LOUD CLACKING FORM THE TRANSMISSION AREA UNDER THE TRUCK. 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO MULTIPLE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND JUST RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THE FAULTY VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKING SYSTEM. BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MINE FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT APPARENTLY IT'S ONLY COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER IF IT'S UNDER 72K MILES. EITHER IT'S A MANUFACTURER FAULT OR IT'S NOT. MY BEING OVER 72K MAKES IT 'MY PROBLEM' I SUPPOSE. SAD THEY ARE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS.

THE ISSUE STARTED DURING LOW SPEED SHARP TURNS BUT NOW IS HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT. COMPLETE LOSS OF USE OCCURS AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT COME BACK ON FOR 10 MINUTES AFTER THE OCCURRENCE. POWER STEERING RECALL HAS NOT RESOLVED IT, GROUND WIRE TIGHTENING HAS NOT RESOLVED AND MAIN BATTERY CABLE REPLACEMENT HAS NOT RESOLVED. DEALERSHIP RESPONSE IS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS CAUSED FROM. ALMOST RAN INTO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME .SPOKE WITH LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE VACUUM PUMP WAS THE PROBLEM AND MY TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR UNLESS I PAID FOR IT . MY TRUCK HAS 80000 MILES ON IT BUT WE USE IT TO TRAVEL .THIS SOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE .
MY TRUCK ON A FEW DIFFERENT OCCASIONS HAS HAD THE STABILITY OF ARMING COME ON OUT OF NOWHERE AND GO OFF. WHEN I BACK MY TRUCK IN MY DRIVE WAY A COUPLE TIMES WHEN I AM GOING BACKWARDS AND TURNING I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK ALMOST DIE DUE TO THE DRAW FROM THE POWERSTERING PUMP AS I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE HAD THE ENGINE DIE ONCE WHILE BACKING IT IN THE DRIVEWAY LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE STREET FOR A MINUTE WHILE THE TRUCK SEEMED TO RE-BOOT. WHEN I AM IN PARK AT NIGHT IF THE TRUCK IS RUNNING IN PARK WITH THE LIGHTS ON AND I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH THE LIGHT WILL REALLY DIM AND PULSE AS THE STEERING WHEEL GOES BACK AND FORTH. WITH THESE ISSUES I HOPE THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AT AN INTERSECTION OR SOMEWHERE WITH MORE TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER.
I BOUGHT THIS 2014 SILVERADO WITH 42,000 MILES IN OCTOBER 2015. I NOTICED THE TOP OF THE CAB, BY THE GPS/SATELLITE RADIO ANTENNA HAD A SPOT OF CLEAR COAT MISSING IT'S ABOUT THE SIZE OF A DIME. I FIGURED THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HOWEVER ABOUT TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER BOTH FRONT DOORS, DRIVER AND PASSENGER HAVE DEVELOPED THE SAME ISSUE. BOTH SPOTS ARE VERY NOTICEABLE AND LOOK TERRIBLE. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE REAR QUARTERS HAVE CLEAR COAT THAT'S CHIPPED AWAY. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL BODY SHOP AND THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS OPENED THE DOOR AND NOTICED THAT I HAVE RUST FORMING ON THE INSIDE EDGE OF THE DOOR. THEY RECOMMENDED I TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AS CHEVY SUPPOSEDLY HAS A 10 YEAR CORROSION WARRANTY. THE FIRST DEALER DIDN'T WANT TO HELP AND TRIED TO SAY THAT I WAS WASHING IT WRONG. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM. I WALKED THEM AROUND THE WHOLE TRUCK SHOWING EVERY SPOT THAT HAS CHIPPED CLEAR COAT. THEY DID TAKE PICTURES OF ALL THE SPOTS I SHOWED THEM AND WOULD SUBMIT THEM TO GM WITH A FILED CLAIM. GM CAME BACK A FEW DAYS LATER AND SAID IT'S PRETTY MUCH MY PROBLEM SINCE I'M NOT THE 'FIRST OWNER'. I COULD FIX THE ISSUE MYSELF, BUT AFTER DOING SOME FURTHER RESEARCH. OWNERS OF THESE TRUCKS COME BACK TO SAY THAT THE PROBLEM RETURNS, SOME CASES THESE TRUCKS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY RESPRAYED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. WE PAY A LOT OF MONEY FOR A TRUCK AND IT GOES TO CRAP IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS. MY LAST CHEVY WAS 20 YEARS OLD WHEN I TRADED IT IN AND IT DIDN'T HAVE PAINT ISSUES LIKE THESE NEWER TRUCKS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
BOUGHT A USED 2014 SILVERADO 1500 4X4 WITH 22K MILES AND ONE PREVIRUS OWNER. I HAD NO ISSUES AT FIRST BUT THE DEALER MADE ME AWARE OF A RECALL GM HAD OUT WHERE THEY WOULD REPROGRAM THE POWER STEERING TO PREVENT A POSSIBLE ISSUE OF POWER STEERING LOSS AT SLOW SPEEDS. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND HAD THE "REPROGRAM" DONE. AFTER THAT I STARTED HAVING A POPPING IN THE STEERING COLUMN AT EXTREMELY LOW SPEED OR WHILE STATIONARY WHEN THE WHEEL WAS TURNED. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE POPPING STOPPED AND ONE EVENING I START MY TRUCK AND THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING. THE NEXT DAY I START MY TRUCK AND THE POWER STEERING IS WORKING FINE. I RUN AN ERRAND AND AS I'M COMING HOME THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE I'M TURNING AT A SLOW SPEED ALSO NEARLY CAUSING A WRECK WITH ANOTHER CAR. DEALER WON'T ADMIT TO THE PROBLEM BEING A PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE OF THE LIFT ON MY TRUCK AND THEN OVER QUOTED ME BY $500 FOR THE FIX ($2900 TOTAL AND $2200 FOR THE PART). JUST HAD A NEW RACK AND PINION INSTALLED FOR $2535.11 AND THE PART ALONE WAS $1859 FROM ANOTHER DEALER. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE PART HAS SINCE (THE RECALL) BEEN "REMANUFACTURED" WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT GM REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND THEY FIXED IT QUIETLY ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE RATHER THAN MAKE IT RIGHT WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.
THE SERVICE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM WARNING CAME UP ON MY DASHBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START. REMOVING THE KEY AND OPENING THE DOOR RESET IT. THIS HAPPENED FRIDAY, MARCH 30TH. ON SUNDAY APRIL 1ST, A SIMILAR EVENT OCCURRED, EXCEPT THIS TIME, AFTER GETTING THE CAR STARTED I DROVE ABOUT 1/4 MILE AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL BRAKE/STEERING SUPPORT AND THEN THE ENGINE CUT OFF, LEAVING ME TO TRY BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP MYSELF (WHICH THANKFULLY I DID). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING ON MONDAY, APRIL 2ND, AND THEY RAN TESTS AND FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN SAYING TO REPLACE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND THE JUNCTION BOX. BEING A SERVICE BULLETIN ONLY THOUGH, IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND WOULD COST $675. BEING THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT CUTS ALL POWER WHILE SOMEONE IS DRIVING, I FEEL THIS TO BE UNFAIR.
MY 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS THE CHEVY SHAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TRUCK BEGINS VIBRATING AT 70-80 MILES PER HOUR. BEGINS TO REDUCE THE SHAKING BETWEEN 80-83 AND THEN SHAKES EVEN WORSE AT 85+MPH. THE SHAKING IS SO BAD IT CAUSES WATER TO SHAKE OUT OF A CUP IN THE CUP HOLDER. NOT ONLY DOES THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATE, BUT THE ENTIRE CENTER CONSOLE, AND THE FRONT SEATS. THE VIBRATION DIDN'T BEGIN UNTIL I HIT 60,000 MILES AND SEEMS TO WORSEN WITH THE HIGHER MILEAGE. I NOW FEAR FOR MY SAFETY, BECAUSE I SKIDDED THE IN THE RAIN DUE THE VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I ONLY HAVE VIDEOS SHOWING THE VIBRATION. TOTAL BUMMER. I HAD MY TIRES CHECKED AND BALANCED (WHICH HAVE BEEN ON THE TRUCK FOR 1 YEAR +, PRIOR TO THE VIBRATION STARTING) MY TRUCK HAS LIFETIME ALIGNMENT ON IT, AND THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE EITHER.

THE AC CONDENSER IN THIS TRUCK FAILED RIGHT AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED, LIKE IN MANY OTHER GM TRUCKS IN THE YEARS 2014-17. WITH VERY LITTLE RESEARCH IT IS KNOWN TO BE A POORLY WELDED AC CONDENSER WHICH DESTINE TO FAIL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE A RECALL FOR THESE TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES LOSING AC. WITHOUT PROPER FUNCTIONING AC, I CAN NOT FILTER AIR COMING IN THE VEHICLE WHICH IS A NECESSITY TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE. I CAN'T FILTER OUT FIRE SMOKE WHICH IS ABUNDANT IN CA EVERY FIRE SEASON, VEHICLE WINDOWS MUST BE UP AND N95 MASKS ARE REQUIRED WHEN EXPOSED TO THE SMOKE. I CAN'T FILTER OUT CORONA VIRUS, WHICH IS THE NEW NORMAL, MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WARN AT ALL TIMES OUTSIDE. I CAN'T FILTER OUT ANYTHING IN THE AIR THAT REQUIRES ME TO ROLL UP THE WINDOWS; SMOG, EXHAUST FORM A CLOSE VEHICLE, ETC... WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE BECOMES DEATH TRAP, THE TEMPERATURE GETS TO UNSAFE LEVELS AND THE OPERATOR HAS NOT CHOICE BUT TO EXPOSE THE PASSENGER TO THE ELEMENTS WHICH THESE DAYS IS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE, AND IT IS ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE. AC IS NOT A LUXURY ANYMORE, FILTERING TEMPERATURE APPROPRIATE AIR IS A NECESSITY, AND REQUIRED FOR SAFE HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE.
