Stabilitrack shuts the truck off while driving
While driving at highway speeds at about 73mph the rear end of the truck will shake and has caused the rear end to start to fishtail while still driving straight is the road is even slightly wet.
#1. 2 days after purchase left rear tire was replaced because of out of round #2. 11/2/21 rear brake pads and rotors were worn to the metal replaced by ourisman Chevrolet #3. 7/14 /22 front struts leaking where replaced by Eds body and paint #4. 10/11/22 rear axle pinion seal, transfer case front output shaft seal, oil pan all leaking replaced by jba Chevrolet #5. 11/3/23 front differential leak and coolant hose leak not replaced. Dealership claimed (in writing 11/25/22) upgrade to warranty to cover repairs but was denied by warranty company
When backing truck up & pressing brake, it feels "spongy" or like the brake is not working right and sometimes vehicle doesn't stop. I had mechanic inspect brakes & they reported no visible issues. They recommended for me to check for a recall relating to this issue.
Damage to fuse panel and front left speaker on driver side dash. The Antenna on top of the trucks cab has a known issue to leak. And has leaked down the front left column on top of the fuse panel causing corrosion and damage to electrical components. No evaluation has been done by a certified technician for damage. But available for evaluation per request. No warning lights present.
Brought truck in for a NYS inspection and it failed due to rust and cracked frame. While it was still on the lift the frame collapsed and the back end fell off the lift. Luckily nobody was under it. This seems to be a common issue on many of the Chevy forums. Something needs to be done before failures like this happen on the roads.
Vehicle less than 150,000 miles and transmission hasn't held up. Vehicle isn't driven hard its my daily driver to work. Transmission temperature exceeding 200 degrees on a short drive, hard shifting into 1,2,3,4 gears. I have done my research looking into other people that have had this trouble and it has become a well known problem with these vehicles. Everyone is experiencing trouble from the torque converters to the gears, and clutches. Its terrible that we are spending 10's of thousands of dollars on a vehicle that will not even hold up to 150,000 miles. These transmissions needs to be recalled and replaced. I have also done further extensive research that shows that from the GM Bulletin you can find documentation that shows that the 6L80 transmissions have problems with this exact issue. This Bulletin was published in June of 2020. If GM has listed 13 different models of 6L80 transmissions in different vehicles that are having such problems. Why hasn't this been recalled to make it right to the customers who have these vehicles. We are being ripped of our hard earned money and left with vehicles that are extremely expensive to have repaired or forced to let them go back or have no option but to trade it in and still be left with lots to pay on these vehicles.
Automatic fuel management system failure has caused a p0300 code as multiple misfire diagnosed to cylinder 4 dead with no compression. This vehicle is no longer drivable and I still owe $21,000. GM knows of this failure for a long time. At current I have no way to pay for repairs and making payments on a truck I can not drive. I bought this vehicle used at 83,000 miles and have put 16,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 years
The frame is completely rusted out. Parts are falling off of it, it rusted under the factory wax rust preventive coating. the abs system will brake the truck on its own without any warning lights.
Steering assist warning light comes on and vehicle shut down losing ability to steer or brake , vehicle wouldn’t start, tried to start the next day and vehicle started. Before warning light all lights flickered when applying brakes and other warning lights lit up!
Temporary loss of electric power steering assist, happens mostly at low speeds. also complete loss of power and engine Turing at low speeds. luckily was driving less than 10 MPH but had zero control of the truck and brakes did not work and ran into and curb that stopped me. The vehicle was taken into the Chevy Dealership in Covina 3 times and they said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. There was no warnings at all, just total loss of control
Breaks stop working at slow speed. Vacuum pump fails
Slow Crank, and Theft Deterrent System comes on while driving and you loose power to the vehicle and stalls outs while in motion, bad negative battery cables are to blame from all our research on this vehicle from multiple online videos it is common for this year, make, model. It happened to us while driving on a highway luck was on our side and no one was around us.
Trucks electrical system will flash and blink and shut down the truck this has happened to me while driving at night on the highway it is very dangerous. Also research I have done shows there is a bunch of people having this problem and they have found that a ground has factory insulation in between the ground and the nut
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the “Service Trailer Brake System" message was constantly displayed. The contact indicated that while the message was displayed, the speedometer and instrument cluster gauges were inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified, and a service appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.
Using a signal for lane changes causes cruise control to disengage, suspension messages and air bag failure messages as well as tire failure icon would all come on and when leaving the exit ramp and decelerating the engine would die and system would lock up without ability to steer. So dangerous. Then next trip all is good but the engine failing while driving has happened a half dozen times. The last incident was another engine failure during an exit from the interstate in November.
Brake pedal gets hard under low speeds. Causes a stopping hazzard in parking lots and drive thrust. This year and model has been recalled for this, but my vin is not coming up as a recall. I worry when I back my boat in the water that my truck wont stop.
I had 2 recalls done, one for power steering & one for brakes. My truck was not experiencing ANY problems before I had this recall done. The day I had it done I lost power steering while trying to park at Home Depot immediately after leaving dealership, almost causing me to hit the vehicle I was trying to park next to. Thinking it was a fluke, i drove it home afterwards & when I got on the highway to go home, I experienced a very loud metal on metal sound that only went away after applying the brakes. I don’t drive much since I work from home, however every time I drive it for 10 min or so, the sound came back followed by increased braking pressure to stop, also almost causing multiple accident and any time I was driving slow & trying to make tight maneuvers or turning my wheel too park or go through roundabouts I would lose power steering. I took it back to the dealership & was told the serpentine belt was not installed properly & they replaced the vacuum pump for the brakes. Told that the steering & brakes were fixed and after starting I wasn’t taking it back until it’s verified fixed by test driving for more than just a few minutes & parked multiple times, I was told it was ok. I went straight home & while on the highway, the sound reappeared & didn’t go away & pulling into my driveway, the steering failed again. I left multiple messages that weren’t returned & while recently on the hwy, I was hearing the sound & had play in the wheel, I slammed on the brakes after a semi almost hit me & my truck shook like it was falling apart & I called 800# scared to drive & I had difficulty steering & breaking & with no way to get home I had to drive it & took it to the dealership again & now they’re telling me I have to pay for diagnostics & I refuse to pay Chevy a dime since my truck was fine until Chevy’s incompetent mechanic made my truck unsafe to drive. They deleted my dash cam videos also. I have numerous videos showing everything.
frame is rotting out
On October 29, 2022, I auto-started my 2014 Silverado on a chilly morning. I got in the vehicle approximately 5 minutes later and turned on the ignition. As soon as I turned on the ignition I heard what sounded like a gunshot and I smelled electrical burning. I then realized that the passenger side of my back sliding window had shattered. The rear defroster also smelled like an electrical fire. Upon doing research I found that this is a known issue in the 2014-2019 Silverado's which I was never notified about. I purchased the vehicle used in March of 2021 from Basil Chevrolet in Fredonia, NY. There is currently a full recall in Canada because of the dangerous issue but not in the United States. I reached out to the dealership and Chevrolet but they refuse to do anything about it. I have yet to have the back window replaced and it is taped up but available for examination.
The rear window defogger caught fire. It caught fire while parked next to a gas pump after using the auto start. If it had happened while driving down the road it could've caused a bad accident. It shattered the window as well so I've had to tape the back window which is limiting my view when driving. The dealership I bought it from knows about the issue. GM has already recalled 160,000 trucks for the same reason in Canada but never issued a recall for any US trucks. Nobody has inspected the component yet as I have not had the money to replace it but it is in the same state/condition it was in after the fire. There were no warning lights or symptoms. The rear window defogger comes on every time the remote start is used. I've used the remote start plenty of times before, luckily I was close to the truck when it happened to catch fire this time or the truck may have caught fire and burned completely. I want to point out the fact that GM has already issued a recall for the exact same problem I had but only for Canada trucks. They said they were investigating to see if there were any in the US that were sold but clearly there were.
The power steering went out without warning. The power steering system failed without warning during operation. There was a recall for this in 2017 but my VIN number is not included in this recall.
Transmission quit working at 125195 miles. When I called around to Chevy dealers, this is a common problem for this particular year and model. Dealer said it would cost close to $7,000 to replace with a different transmission to resolve the problem. They did not put the same make/model transmission into the truck - they put a different one due to the issues the original transmissions are having. We spent a significant amount of money to get the transmission REPLACED. The transmission needed to replace the bad one was on backorder - due to the demands. I personal feel that Chevy should have recalled the bad transmission and the cost of the repairs should have been covered by the manufacturer. I am a woman and this could have been very dangerous had the transmission quit on the highways in Portland, Oregon while commuting to or from work. Please look into this. I would like Chevy to reimburse us for the repairs we paid. I have an invoice of $4,690. Thankfully it quit a few blocks from my home. I had to have the truck towed to the dealer. That was an additional expense.
Transmission failed because of faulty torque converter at roughly 95,000 miles. Now the same failure has occurred at 115,000 miles. This type of failure is unsafe if it were to happen in heavy traffic or crossing an intersection. GM refuses to acknowledge the issue and demands a certified dealership diagnose the issue. I maintain my right as a consumer to use a private repair shop. They will not investigate any further with my report, without their service department, which is biased and a conflict, providing the diagnosis.
Dash lights flicker, head lights flicker, loses electrical power randomly, loses power steering at low speeds and electrical power.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH and slowing to turn left onto a side street the steering wheel seized. As the contact made the left turn the steering wheel remained at 45 degrees instead of a 90-degree position to make the left turn. The contact stated that oncoming traffic in the opposite lane was advancing and he had to accelerate to complete the turn. The contact stated that the vehicle jumped the curb once he had crossed onto the side street. The contact was able to get the vehicle back onto the roadway and once back up to speed the steering functionality returned and he continued driving to his destination. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V414000 (Steering). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
TCM Failed. Caused vehicle to no longer shift through drive gears while operating. After stopped no longer able to start vehicle. Appears to be common as a result replacement parts re not available.
As I was picking up my child from school my steering wheel and ac stopped working my steering wheel got locked. I was putting everyone’s life at risk because I wasn’t able to make a turn . We’ve been searching everywhere and it seems it’s a recall .
For several years now, I have been receiving the notification SERVICE: Trailer Brake. I typically try to dismiss it, but on occasion, it will continue to pop up over and over and over and over again. I have driven this vehicle since it's original purchase and have never even used the trailer brake. (Even though it's been titled twice - I purchased it from the company I work for.) Thankfully it has not caused any accidents. Just an annoyance. But I have been reading online that some owners have been unable to operate their vehicles due to this issue. This is not a daily driver vehicle but today was the most recent episode with the warning. I drove maybe a couple of miles total and it chimed and notified me approximately 20 times in this short distance. I looked on youtube and there are countless owners that have this same problem. It is definitely a distraction to the driver and could potentially cause a very serious accident.
Entire frame completely rusted out. Do not know the exact date it happened but just noticed it.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at a slow speed and turning, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was able to be restarted and drove with no further issues. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repair. The contact stated that the failure had occurred at least 4 times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer advised the contact to call a local Chevrolet dealer for diagnostic testing. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
Trailer brake system keep coming on it is starting to become unbearable and I can barely drive my truck, it comes on at least 20 times while I’m driving on a day so over 100 times in a week
I was driving as I usually do , this time I was in my car I had just financed and bought 3 weeks before. There was no signs or warning lights before this incident. I was driving when suddenly it wouldn’t go in to gear or any gear at all and realized my transmission was failing . I then drove it and tried to get to safe spot trying to avoid any crashes delays or other accidents. I was glad to be close by to a safe spot and not going at a fast speed on freeway or Main Street when this occurred and avoided an accident. My truck was then towed into the dealership mechanics and was waiting for a report and turns out the truck needs a transmission replacement. During the Transmission tear down and inspect they Found clutch assembly gear 1-2-3-4 and 3-5 reverse plates all damaged. Plates missing teeth and burnt. Excessive metal inside torque converter, and valve body. Clutch drum damaged and burnt. I am now just researching recalls for 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and realized that there is a recall for power train on transmission. Stated “The subject vehicles may have a transmission oil cooler line that is not securely seated in the fitting.” And the Recall consequence is “If the line is not securely seated and transmission oil leaks from the fitting, the oil could contact a hot surface and cause a vehicle fire.” By reading my experience with my trucks transmission failing and having multiple parts inside “burnt” Has me wondering if my truck was part of this recall and how worse it could have been if it would have caught in fire. My dealership failed to mention any problems and stated they “take every vehicle through a mechanical inspection and smog Saftey.” I can’t believe only 3 weeks of having this truck and no warning signs and to just completely just shut off and have the transmission destroyed/burnt is a horrible experience.
Service stabilitrak no steering
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after exiting the garage and driving a few feet, the steering failed to turn to the left or right. The contact pulled to the side and had the vehicle towed to the residence. The electronic steering assist was reduced, drive with care, service air bag and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V246000 (Steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated the manufacturer contacted the dealer who confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. Thee contact was informed that the recall had already expired. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.
Steering assistance failed during slow speed turn into side street. Vehicle stalled with no power to steer or brake. Engine turned off allowing vehicle to dead stick accross two lanes of traffic for opposite direction. Vehicle came to rest in parking lot nearby. Had there been vehicles in those lanes an accident would have occurred. Dash board monitor gives signals that "stability track" off and check engine have issues. In August of 2017 received recall letter from GM citing problem with EPS (electric power steering). Took vehicle to Serpentini Chevy on August 13th 2017 and they reprogramed EPS Module. Milage at this time was 20,085. They did not charge for repair. In 2017 my vehicle had no symptoms of recall. Now in 2022 this EPS problem is happening with milage 54,000 twice almost causing MVA.
The vehicle steering locks up when driving (EPS)
When I slow down and turn my truck suddenly losses power steering. Everything turns off for a second and then comes back on. And I get a notice on the dash that I lost power.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while his wife was parking the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V246000 (Steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 99,000.
service trailer brake system keeps coming on along with a ding ding ding. I don't even use this.
Service Trailer Brake system goes off constantly over and over for several minutes while driving. It’s very distracting to the driver and causes fear for using brakes and then failing.
When I attempt to speed up or slow down my truck hesitates, and it's followed by a significant shake, like a shudder, and sometimes it just jerks, or clunks, like it's doing a very “hard shift” when the automatic transmission changes the gears. Sometimes it shifts so violently, I feel like I got hit by another vehicle. I've also tried to accelerate into traffic, and the truck hesitate and then abruptly and violently jerks into gear. It creates a big traffic safety issue! Other times the transmission shifts gears so hard that it slams the truck forward, and makes feels like I've been rear-ended.
I was driving the other day and had a temporary loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist followed by a sudden return of EPS assist, particularly during low-speed turning maneuvers. The loss and sudden return of EPS assist typically happens within a 1 second period and is caused by an electrical/software issue Same thing that's happening in this Service Bulletin. Needs to be fixed https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/MC-10139117-9999.pdf
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal noises. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.
Driver side seatbelt metal cable connecting the seatbelt to the underside of the seat severed completely.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the trailer brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, and the dealer replaced the trailer brake switch; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
Seat belt tensioner cable broke, N212330040 is a current recall for the same problem, reached out to local dealer and gm customer care about my vehicle. They stated that my vehicle was not affected by that recall. Can send pictures is necessary.
The air conditioner condenser has a small leak causing the refrigerant to leak out. This is a known problem with all gm Silverado 2014-2017 and a recall needs to be issued. They are all leaking in the same place due to a faulty weld from the factory.
Vehicle and warranty was purchased 6/4/22. The following warning signs: service 4WD, service trailer brake system, it has shut off while driving on 6 separate occasions, vehicle locks after losing power and can’t put car in neutral, and several other safety issues, noise coming from engine.
