There are 17 owner-reported fuel system complaints for the 2014 Chevrolet Silveradoin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
This in addition to complaint form number:11699917 I have found the two forms issued by the GM global corp. One is a recall the other a bulletin about the HPFP fuel regulator to be replaced because it was known to fail. The first actual recall (13370 ) states that 25,000 vehicles were involved. The symptoms they stated are all the same that the vehicle I own are having including fuel fumes in the cab and under the hood . In 13370 right at the top it states urgent so this problem is definitely a safety concern for fire or explosion. In 13370A they eliminated a lot of these details including the words urgent and the amount of vehicles that were involved in this recall. And at the bottom of 13370A it also states that the following two paragraphs does not pertain to Canada , THIS is important because my vehicle was born in Canada . So everything stated above that involves Canada manufacturing also. So this means my vehicle should be included in this recall also like I stated in my complaint to this safety commission 11699917 . My vehicle has the 5.3 , it’s a 1500 Silverado and it’s a 2014. Recalls don’t expire for safety as far as I heard. There is no reasonable explanation as to why this vehicle was excluded except it was manufactured in Canada and fell through the cracks of their recall . Without a recall they will not look at any bulletin for this safety issue on my vehicle. This is a very expensive repair to be done and GM knows this also.
My vehicle produced a check engine light then it started to be hard to start . Then I started to smell fuel in the cab and strong smell of fuel under the hood . I cannot see the leak so it has to be the HPFP located under the intake manifold and the fuel is being absorbed by the insulation located under the intake. In January 2014 the GM corporation issued a voluntary or bulletin for this year truck and the 5.3,engine for having installed the wrong fuel regulator in these pumps. Bulletin number 13370A states this exact problem. This vehicle was produced in a Canadian plant therefore fell through the cracks in there recall/bulletin . This is a safety problem that I cannot get repaired under warranty or anything. This vehicle is prone to start on fire that’s why they issued the bulletin but since it was Canada born they really do not want to help me and say it isn’t on their recall list even though it is the EXACT problem they list . And since it isn’t on their recall list they won’t even look at the bulletin to see about goodwill warranty either to cover the repair. Why is this vehicle with the same year and same make and same engine excluded , because it’s made in Canada it doesn’t make the list of recalls in the GM world.

2014 Chevy Silverado. Drove the truck 0.9 miles from my residence to bank to withdraw money from ATM. Noticed a strong fuel odor when I exited the vehicle. Verified fuel leak while the truck was running. Had the vehicle towed to local Chevrolet dealership where they inspected and confirmed Fuel Leak under the manifold. Removed intake and found low pressure line, at the high pressure is blown off. All 4 retaining tabs were broken and secondary latch was laying off to the side. No warning lamps and no other symptoms were noticed prior to failure. No tampering or previous repairs in area. This is a major safety/fire risk, l am lucky no one was hurt.

FUEL PUMP/FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR FAILURE AT 34000 MILES. DRIVING VEHICLE AT 40MPH AND SUDDENLY ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND TRUCK DIED. LOST ALL POWER AND COULD BARELY PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD IN BUSY TRAFFIC. DRIVING ON STATE HWY 15 NORTH BOUND. FORTUNATELY MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE PICKUP. DEALER REPAIRED AND SAID IT WAS A RELATIVELY COMMON PROBLEM. SECOND COMPLAINT WAS WIPER FAILURE IN HEAVY SNOW/WIND ON COUNTY HWY 29 BROWN CTY MN. FUSE BLOCK CORRODED AND CAUSED FAILURE. TRAVELLING AT 55MPH WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED. MANAGED TO DRIVE HOME (2 MILES) WITH OUT INCIDENT BUT VERY DANGEROUS. THE PART WAS DESCRIBED BY THE DEALER AS THE BCM FUSE BLOCK. BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS WERE LIFE THREATENING.
THE TRUCK TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START AND WHEN IT IS RUNNING THE TRUCK WILL DIE. IT'S A FUEL PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT FUEL PUMP IT IS OR IF IT'S THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. IT ONLY HAS 63,000 MI.
THE TRUCK HAS A RAW FUEL SMELL UNDER HOOD AND DRAWN IN THE CABIN WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND MOVING. ATTACHED IS LEN LYALL CHEVROLET'S DIAGNOSIS OF LEAKING HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINES UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN 40,866 MILES. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED BY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT BY THE 3 YEAR 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. THERE IS ONE (TSB #15-NA-002) AND TWO RECALL/ CAMPAIGNS (#14858 AND #13331) FOR THIS KNOWN FAILURE. THIS IS A SAFETY, HEALTH AND EMISSIONS CONCERN DUE TO POSSIBLE FIRE, HIGH/ FAILING EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS, AND RESPIRATORY HEALTH PROBLEMS. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE SYSTEM FAILURE SHOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY OR EMISSIONS WARRANTY. *TR
ON MY 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO WHEN I WAS FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS THE FILL NECK PARTIALLY BROKE LOOSE AND I SPILLED ABOUT A CUP OF GAS AT A LOCAL GAS STATION. I LOOKED TO SEE A PLASTIC PLUG HAD BROKEN CAUSING THE FILL NECK TO COME LOOSE WHEN FUELING. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THEY HAVE HAS "A COUPLE DOZEN OCCURRENCES SIMILAR" THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART WITH THE SAME PART. THIS IS ONE FASTENER THAT NEEDS TO BE METAL AND HELD IN WITH A LOCK WASHER. (NOT PLASTIC) SEE PIX. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM --SEE MY FIX WITH A METAL BOLT VS THE DEFECTIVE PLASTIC PLUG THAT COMES FROM THE FACTORY. PLS TAKE ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE BURNS UP IN A FIRE DUE TO THESE FILL NECK FASTENER PROBLEM. THANK YOU. [XXX] THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION WHEN THE FILL NECK PARTIALLY BROKE LOOSE AND DROPPED DOWN,SPILLING GASOLINE. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
WHEN FUELING VEHICLE, THE PUMP STOPS CONTINUOUSLY, AS THE HANDLE SHUTS OFF AS FUEL WILL NOT FLOW INTO TANK. FUEL IS UNABLE TO FLOW INTO TANK, SO HANDLE SHUTS OFF. YOU HAVE TO FUEL AT ONLY A TRICKLE. YOU SPEND TWENTY MINUTES TO TRY AND FILL THE VEHICLE. IF THE SYSTEM IS FOR VAPOR CONTROL IT HAS FAILED BECAUSE OF POOR DESIGN. YOU SPEND SEVEN TIMES MORE TIME,, STANDING AROUND PLAYING WITH THE FUELING HANDLE TO GET SOME FUEL INTO THE SYSTEM, THAN A SIMILAR VEHICLE NEXT TO YOU.
FIRE AND DEATH HAZARD . STRONG UNBEARABLE TOXIC SMELL ENTERING UP INTO CAB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GASOLINE FUEL FUMES EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SMOKE WAS ALSO EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR SEALS HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 950.
SHORTLY AFTER STARTING TRUCK AND DEPARTING TO LOCAL STORE I NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MILES MY GAS TANK WENT FROM 3/4 FULL TO NEARLY EMPTY, AROUND THE SAME TIME PASSERBY'S STARTED FLAGGING ME DOWN STATING THAT MY TRUCK WAS LEAKING FUEL AND SMOKING FROM UNDERNEATH. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO CLOSEST PARKING LOT TO REALIZE THE TRUCK WAS MASSIVELY LEAKING FUEL FROM DIFFERENT AREAS AND WAS INDEED SMOKING AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO CATCH FIRE. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND MOVED AWAY. THE FUEL LEAK STOPPED AND THE SMOKE EVENTUALLY DISSIPATED. IT WAS BEEN TOWED BACK TO DEALER BY CHEVROLET ROAD SIDE AND IS CURRENTLY BEING CHECKED FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR
GAS MILEAGE COMPLAINT . STATED MILEAGE (HWY ) IS 22 MPG , THE FIRST SIX MONTHES OF DRIVING DID ACHIEVE THIS STATED MILEAGE ,OCCASIONALLY AS MUCH AS 23 MPG .AFTER 2 RECALL SERVICE VISITS AND AN OIL CHANGE , THE MILEAGE ABRUPTLY DROPPED TO 18 MPG I COMPLAINED TO CHEV. SERVICE IN COTTAGE GROVE ,OR SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 4 MONTHES THEY ADVISED ME TO CHANGE FUEL (SERVICE STATIONS ,) PUT A FUEL BOOSTER ADDITIVE IN THE TANK ,CHECK TIRE PRESSURE .THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL MNFRS. CHANGING THE FUEL BLEND FOR THE WINTER SEASON MAY BE THE CAUSE. NO SERVICE CODES IN THE COMPUTER . NONE OF THE SUGGESTED "FIXES" HAVE CHANGED THE MILEAGE ,STILL AT AROUND 18 MPG . SOMETHING CAUSED THIS SUDDEN DROP IN MPG .I HAVE A COUPLE OF IDEAS , 1. ONE RECALL WAS A COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPGRADE ,WRONG SHIFT PARAMETERS INSTALLED ? 2. AT PRESCRIBED OIL CHANGES ,06/03/14 &12/18/14 , ( TRUCK REQUIRES DEXOS 0-20 OIL ) MAYBE WRONG OIL WAS INSTALLED ? ONE INVOICE SHOWS 5W-30 WAS INSTALLED . HOWEVER DEALERSHIP DENIES INSTALLING WRONG OIL . HOW CAN I HAVE THE OIL ANALYZED TO DETERMINE WHICH IS IN THE TRUCK ? *JS
