AFTER HAVING RAINS FOR ALMOST 3 DAYS STRAIGHT IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, I FINALLY GOT SOME TIME TO CLEAN THE INTERIOR OF MY VEHICLE. UPON MOVING THE FLOOR MAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, I NOTICE THE CARPET WAS SOAKING WET. THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE NEAR THE FIREWALL ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER THE CABIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. LONG TERM, I AM AFRAID OF MOLD AND MILDEW ACCUMULATION AS WELL AS WATER AFFECTING ELECTRONICS. FRONT DRIVERS SEAT HAS A LOT OF SLOP IN IT. UPON ACCELERATING AND BRAKING, I CAN FEEL THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT ROCK FORWARD AND BACKWARD SLIGHTLY. SEAT MAKES A CLUNKING/TAPPING NOISE. RADIO RECEPTION IS TERRIBLE. FM RADIO LOOSES SIGNAL STRENGTH AND SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE IN A CAVE. *TR
2500 HD TRUCK IS EQUIPPED WITH OPTIONAL OEM TOWING/CAMPER SIDE VIEW MIRRORS EQUIPPED WITH RED TURN SIGNALS EMBEDDED IN MIRROR GLASS. RED TURN SIGNAL LED'S IMPAIR VISION AT NIGHT, AND SHINE DIRECTLY INTO DRIVERS EYES, MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE OUTSIDE VEHICLE IN DIRECTION OF TURN. THE TURN SIGNAL LED'S ARE MANUFACTURED WITHOUT ANY SORT OF SHIELDING COATING IN MIRROR GLASS WHICH WOULD REDUCE THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE LED'S AS IS FOUND IN MOST OTHER INTEGRATED SIDE VIEW MIRROR TURN SIGNALS. *TR
WHEN SHIFTING THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK, IF THE TILT STEERING WHEEL IS IN THE FULL UP POSITION, AND THE SHIFT LEVER IS PULLED FULLY REARWARD SO AS TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, THEN THE SHIFT LEVER WILL HIT AND BE STOPPED FROM MOVING BY THE IGNITION KEY. IF YOU FORCE THE SITUATION BY PULLING BACK AND DOWN WITH MORE THAN NORMAL FORCE, THE KEY AND KEY SWITCH TAKES QUITE AN ABNORMAL LOAD FROM THE SHIFT LEVER. I REPORTED THIS TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL, BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE HAD REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. THERE IS AN EASY SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. THE HANDLE PART OF THE IGNITION KEY NEEDS TO BE SHORTER. IF THIS SITUATION IS NOT FIXED, I FEAR THAT THE IGNITION KEY SWITCH ASSEMBLY WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE DAMAGE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK AND THE "STABILITRAK" WARNING CAME ON AND THE INDICATOR (CURSOR) THAT TELLS YOU WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN DISAPPEARED. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND OPENED THE DOOR TO RESET EVERYTHING. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH THE "STABILITRAK" WARNING CAME ON AGAIN AND THE GEAR INDICATOR DISAPPEARED. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND OPENED THE DOOR. STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. DRIVING BEHIND TRAFFIC AT 20 MPH THE "STABILITRAK" WARNING CAME ON AGAIN, THE GEAR WARNING INDICATOR DISAPPEARED AND THE RPM'S WENT TO 3000 RPM. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. IF THE TRANSMISSION HAD SHIFTED TO A DIFFERENT GEAR THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER. *TR
DRIVING TOWING A TRAVEL TRAILER. FELT A VIBRATION. PULLED OVER AND NOTHING VISIBLE. RESUMED BUT ENGINE HAD NO POWER. 30 MPH MAX SPEED. CALLED ONSTAR AND THEY COULD FIND NO CODES. TRIED TO CONTINUE BUT NO ENGINE POWER BEYOND 30 MPH.. CALLED ONSTAR AGAIN AND THIS TIME THEY IDENTIFIED 2 CODES. DROPPED TRAILER AT A CHURCH PARKING LOT. TRUCK NOW IN REDUCED POWER MODE AND LEAKING LIQUID. ARRIVED AT A DEALER WHO IDENTIFIED PROBLEM AS RETURN FUEL LINE HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED. THEY RECONNECTED AND TRUCK RAN NORMALLY. APPROXIMATELY 20 GALLONS OF DIESEL FUEL HAD LEAKED DURING THIS 8 MILE ORDEAL. *TR
86K miles smelled gas. Dealer replaced one fuel injector on the 6 cylinder rail. At 108K miles, catastrophic engine failure caused by misfire in the #6 cylinder. No compression or diagnostic testing done at initial fuel injector replacement. It is now my understanding that it is good practice when replacing one fuel injector, all should be replaced. After truck was inoperable at 108K miles, ran a borescope into the 6 cylinder shaft and noticed massive wash and scoring. Goodwill from GM was denied for an engine swap. Subsequent diagnostic testing revealed low pressure in all cylinder heads. I don’t put a lot of miles on this truck per year and suspect the problem compounded over time without notice. There was gas mixture in the oil, however this issue was never brought to my attention during routine maintenance and oil changes. I know there were issues with the 6.2L and didn’t know of parallel or residual issues with the 5.3L. Long story short, I had to go with an engine swap on a truck with relatively low mileage.
