2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with 5.3 liter engine developed coolant leak. Took vehicle to Chevrolet dealer and they said the radiator was failing. According to the service advisor, this was a result of the thermostat "over cycling". They also said GM had a recall for this exact problem for the 2014 models but not for my vehicle. Cost of new radiator and replacement of the defective thermostat was over $1,200.
Turned my truck on and rear defrost was active. Sizzling sound started occurring in rear window. Inspected sound and saw a small amber electrical fire starting. Immediately turned off defroster. After about 10 seconds I heard a loud “pop” noise and saw that the rear driver’s side of the rear window was shattered.

Rear window defroster began to SMOKE while being on for a few minutes (under 6). Smoke was visible next to sliding window.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V504000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
At slow speeds the brake pedal gets hard and does not stop vehicle. At random times I temporarily lose power steering and vehicle is hard to turn.
No specific incident. I am trying to get this recall fixed but GMC/Chevy say the repair takes 2 days and won't give me a loaner vehicle. I don't have an extra vehicle to drive, this being a safety issue that takes more than 1 day, they need to provide a loaner. Please help me get this safety issue resolved.
Losing power brakes at low speeds. Narrowly avoided rear-end collision.
I was about 1.5 miles from my house with the rear defrost on, when I heard a pop. I then noticed the driver side rear window was shattered. Not the middle or passenger side, just the driver side. I did a ton of research and noticed that 2014 through 2019 Canadian Chevrolet Silverado’s have been recalled but none in the US.
The contact's husband owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was parking the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The contact stated that the steering wheel felt abnormally stiff, causing difficulties while steering the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
The vacuum in the braking system failed and would not stop the vehicle especially after going over 1500 rpm the vehicle would stop, but if you had to brake without being able to go above 1500rpm the brakes failed. You had yo put a lot of pressure on the brake pedal to slow it down and stop. When you have a hill to go down it could be very dangerous. Taking the vehicle on 11/15/22 to Kendall Chev I'm Marysville, WA. No warnings were given on brake problem. Since truck will not stop normally, any person, vehicle, bike, etc is in danger of being in front of truck because of brakes failing.
Truck only having 30,000 miles and garage kept has considerable rusting on frame memebers as well as cross members on the frame.. There is no paint on the frame or cross memebers just a wildly flaking black wax coating. After two years when in for service the dealer stated that this was "Normal" for this model. Two shops that have inspected the frame are conserned about the amount of rust and any towning I may do in the future. At this point I only tow a small ATV trailer during the summer months.
this is a cosmetic complaint the paint is peeling
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. The contact stated that the vehicle then stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the independent mechanic awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
It started out with the transmission slipping/jerking at about 50 mph. Then as it progressed it began whining. We were barely able to get it to a mechanic to have it looked at. We were told it was the torque converter which caused the transmission to need to be replaced.
#1- I had my truck in a few years ago for a brake issues that they said was a computer reprogramming issue and vacuum pump. They repaired and the issue slowly came back. Now it feels as if there is little to no assist with braking and stopping distance is growing. I feel like my family is at risk if there were ever to be a time I need to brake hard or fast. Theire are no warning lamps but obvious excessive braking effort and can feel the brake rotors through the pedal. #2- Intermittently, at low speeds, pulling into parking lots and parking spaces while turning the steering wheel, electrical power cuts out, steering wheel jerks out of hand, and a dash light comes on saying "service stabilitrack". This is a huge safety issue that could certainly cause an accident. I have Googled this very common issue with my year Chevy Silverado and personally checked the grounds on the left and right under the front dash panel by each speaker and found them to be clean and tight. This leads me to believe it is something else and electrical and a huge safety problem. Only issue is that it is very random and hard to replicate. Seems to happen on hot days when I've been driving a lot. I just got off the phone with the local dealership and they are saying there are no other recalls aside from the current one for air bag issues which I just scheduled. But these other issues I feel are definitely safety manufacturer defects/issues especially being that it has been in for the brake issue once already and the steering/electrical issue is such a common thing when searching the internet.
I constantly get a trailer assist brake service warning dinging. I have video. I paid for a tech to fix it but it still dings. I fear the brakes will be affected since it says "Service Trailer Brake System." System has not been inspected by Dealer because they told me it could take 6 months to get it in due to high volume of repairs on books and low inventory. This started in 2021 and stopped after I paid a tech to fix it for about 6 months but started repeating the problem again in 2022.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, he heard an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he continued driving to his residence. The contact stated while leaving the driveway, he continued to hear the abnormal noise, and the service brake warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake vacuum pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V578000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure occurred while driving at various speeds and while the vehicle was idling. The contact also stated that the vehicle would also rev up while idling. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the intake throttle box and plenum gasket; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer however, the vehicle was not had repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle went into neutral while driving on highway. Depressing accelerator only caused engine to wind. Pulled over into a parking lot, put vehicle into (P)ark, turned engine off, restarted ignition, and transmission began to function again.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and attempting to slow at a traffic signal, the vehicle lurched forward while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated while accelerating from a traffic signal, the vehicle lurched forward. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had driven the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that all the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
Service Trailer Brake System constantly turns on. I have never used the Trailer System, My concern is that while driving it will light up and causing an accident because i might take my eyes off the road. What I also notice is Radio (USB) stop working and motor takes time to start.
Transmission keeps going in neutral all by itself. Me an my family has almost got hit several times
For several years this truck will at times start "grade braking" on its own. In other words, at speed, ie: 55 mph, the computer chip will tell the transmission to downshift to assist in "grade braking". The danger is that it actually speeds up the truck, and while attempting to stop at a stop sign, (or light), the truck is actually speeding up, while I am actively pushing on the brake pedal to stop at the light. I ended up having to replace the transmission with a new (rebuilt) transmission. I hoped this would end the problem, but now once again, I have the problem occurring with the replacement transmission. GM tells me they cannot program out the grade braking component. This is a very dangerous situation in which one day I will be unable to stop where required, due to stopped traffic, or a stop signal.
The truck started making a loud ticking noise. The truck then started stalling when pulling out into the road from a standstill. Then the check engine light came on.Took it to the dealership. Was told it is the common lifter problem. That GM has known about for years. But refuse to address. Please let GM know about this problem.Thanks. My wife came home and told me there was something wrong with our truck. I went and inspected it and found nothing. The next day i drove the truck about 30 miles up river. Coming home I was traveling around 55 mph the truck came to a sudden slow down as if I had locked up the brakes then drove fine again. This happened three or four times not as bad as first time. While in town stopped at a light it tried to take of. Not like something giving it gas but like it was in gear and the brake wasnt going to hold it. Almost put me into a school bus ahead of me. Then the rest of the way home it kept binding down and releasing then binding back down. Hard to control but not necessarily a break problem. Its something else. I have worked on vehicles all my life, professionally for 25 years. I never seen a vehicle do this. It has to be in the transmission. Maybe something in the torque converter would be my guess. I have heard of the issues with the 8 speed ever sense this happened I have parked this truck. I cant afford a need transmission that doesnt actually fix the problem from what i hear. I feel GM needs to do something here. At least pay for the parts to fix it
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated while parking into a parking space, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that she persistently depressed the brake pedal until the vehicle came to a stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,200.
As reported in a previous recall, the electric steering cut out on me on two separate occasions during low speed turning into parking spots.
Inability to brake at low speeds. Brake vacuum pump failing at 100K miles. I can submit photos and report later.
The service Trailer Brake System has a defective wiring harness.
Trailer brake assist warning keeps going off at different times with no trailer attached. Quite annoying and unsafe distraction.
Driving 25mph for 3 miles leaving my house speed limit increased to 55 and as i stepped on gas to speed up truck shuttered, shook, and ck engine light came on. #6 cylinder has no compression, found info about common chevy problem 122000 miles.
Knocking noise in the engine , took it to the mechanic and he stated lifter failer
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving and making a turn in the driveway, the vehicle lost electrical power inadvertently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after approximately two minutes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and making a turn. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while his wife was driving on a busy road. The contact’s wife was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact’s wife was able to restart the vehicle after approximately four minutes. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000. The contact stated that the battery and the power distribution fuse box have been replaced.
Anytime I pull into the parking lot and I have to pump my brakes more than once the brake pedal stiffens up and the truck does not stop it has almost caused a collision and almost went through the window of a business it is to the point where every single time I drive it does this from what I heard it is the vacuum pump it does not provide enough vacuum for the brake booster so the brakes do not work it cost about $250 for the OEM part and that is not guaranteed to work the problem will persist later on down the road after more mileage put on the truck
The service trailer brake system warning keeps appearing while driving without a trailer and with a trailer attached to the truck. There is a defective wire harness located on the left side of the steering wheel that needs replaced to fix the issue. The warning alert appears and dings while driving causing distractions while driving down the road.
vehicle is shifting hard between 1st and 2nd. it only seems to do it at lower speeds. the RPMS had a shudder between and only once the truck has been running for awhile. has been in to an independent service dept. at the local dealer where it was purchased and has had all work done since purchased. there are no warring lights or check engine messages. they flushed all fluids and hooked to diagnostic machine found nothing. had it back for a week and it did it again. Took it back to them and had them ride along so they could see what it was doing. they replaced the torque converter although the shudder is gone but it still shifts hard between 1/2
Randomly the brakes get stiff, even while on a hill or stop and go traffic. I noticed the first time after first buying it that while on an exit driveway at a decline, the brakes felt like they slipped or went away. I had to push them hard all the way down and thought I was going to roll into oncoming traffic. The truck soon after was making a noise and felt like it was losing power and revving after the keg was taken out and loss of gas mileage. The dealership confirmed the brakes vacuum pump and the high pressure fuel pump were both bad and the gas was leaking into the oil causing problems and possibly ruining the engine, they stated both would need to be replaced. Check engine light comes on soon after fresh oil changes everytime and codes were shown on computer for running rich. No codes after the initial oil changes due to the warning lights appearing after a good amount of gas has leaked into the oil.
The electrical system randomly shuts down. It has done this multiple times in the past several months. Everything shuts off, including engine, power steering, etc. It has done this both while sitting idle and when driving. Most times, it will come back on after a few seconds but I have had to coast off the roadway, and have it towed back home. This is VERY DANGEROUS!!! Fortunately, the times it has shut down while driving has been during daylight hours because if this were to happen at night, I would lose all lights, therefore making a serious crash almost certain.

Trailer brake system alarm keeps going off.
Having problems with braking at slow speeds, pedal sticks to the floor when reversing into parking space or pulling up in drive thru lines at slow speeds etc.. no problems braking at regular speeds.
Trailer brake system I have owned this Chevy Silverado 2015 since 2018 when I purchased it certified from a used car dealership in upstate New York. About one year into owning the vehicle I started to experience an alarm that was flash trailer brake system. This alarm would beep and flash in my center consul restricting me from sight distracting me from driving and is almost impossible to drive the car without distraction. I checked YouTube I called the manufacture I did so much to figure out what was going on and why this was happening considering I do not show any thing I did not understand why the trailer brake would cause such a problem considering I never told anything. After about three months of driving the car this trailer brake system alarm stopped. Now recently 2022 the trailer break system alarm is back and flashes nonstop and is relentless. I cannot listen to music I cannot hear my own self think the alarm is so loud and so distracting I would rather walk to the store then drive the truck I am forced to drive this truck because of the fact that I need to get to work but the safety hazards that are now limiting me and I am afraid this is going to cause a major accident or loss of life. I recently discovered that this is a manufacturers wire harness malfunction due to faulty wiring and a low-grade wire harness system. Before this gets any worse I need some sort of help. Knowing that it is impossible to fix without thousands of dollars being spent and finding a specific electrical auto technician to fix it it is nearly impossible to have this fixed Chevy refuses to even acknowledge there is a problem I need someone to please help me and the other Chevy Silverado owners to get this under recall so that these wire harnesses can be replaced please help us my name is [XXX] my address [XXX] [XXX] is my cell phone number INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

BRAKING SYSTEM HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THERE THE MECHANICS REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND REAR BRAKE PADS. WE CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS TILL RECENTLY SO WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO DEALER. MILEAGE WAS 169201. THE BRAKES WERE FIRST INSPECTED 6-29-22. THE MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS WELL BELOW YOUR CUTOFF OF 150,000 MILES OR 10 YEARS. THE DEALERS HANDLING OF THIS DOES SEEM UNREASONABLE. THIS IS MY HUSBANDS VEHICLE I REALLY DONT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED AND WHAT DATES. WHILE BACKING UP HIS TRAILER HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SEVERAL DENTS ON THE SIDE OF IT SHOWS BRAKING PROBLEMS. I THINK 1900.00 IS EXTREME TO REPAIR WHAT YOUR COMPANY IS WELL AWARE OF IS A PROBLEM. YOUR CUSTOMERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THIS WAS POSSIBLE RATHER THAN LEAVING THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHERE TO HAVE IT CHECKED. I HOPE THIS WILL CONVINCE YOUR COMPANY TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT. THAT WILL DETERMINE WHAT VEHICLE WE WILL PURCHASE NEXT.
2015 Chevy Silverado, 62,300 miles. While driving at highway speeds. The air condition compessor locked up. Causing the engine to die and causing the loss of power steering and power brakes. I was unable to brake in a timely manner and had to swerve to avoid stopped traffic. It seems there are thousands complaining of the same issue online. There was no warning. I have contacted the dealer and they say there is no recall.
transmission failed at 70 500 miles
This is a 2015 Chevy Silverado, I continuously get a message reading "Service: Trailer Brake System". This error message would continuously chime every 5 seconds, no matter if I cleared the message with the check button on the steering wheel or left it on. This chime would override the radio, phone calls, turn signal chime and any other noises put out by the vehicle in addition to covering the digital speedometer readout. I have yet to take it to a dealership as today was the first repetitive issue lasting over 30 minutes. I first noticed this at random over the last 2 months, but these messages would stop after 2-5 minutes worth of chimes. I plan to take this to a dealer for inspection, but wanted to check for recalls/ report the issue before doing so.
Trailer brakes went out while towing a car
