Brakes went out driving. Replaced master cylinder, brake booster, and vacuum11 at 61696 miles.
Bought 4/2023 at 98326 mileage. At 7/23 major issues take place trying to drive. Taken to original dealer where purchased, at 102581. Had to replace the air conditioner and throttle body plus equaling over $3000. I had bought extended warranty at $3384. Now at 139000 miles the transmission is gone!!!
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 70 MPH, the engine had a misfire, and the vehicle started shaking. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was parked at the workplace and a handheld scan tool retrieved DTC: P0300 and P0324. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then was towed to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the lifters and camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Brake assist issues occured while in the mountains. It was difficult to brake almost causing an accident. It appears to be a bad brake vacuum pump.
It feels like it is licking into the four wheel drive going down the road with speeds up to 30 miles it feels like it begins to jerk I have heard other owners of this vehicle type are saying a possible recall on the transmission
We were heading on vacation to Florida on the evening of [XXX].While driving [XXX] towards Athens, Alabama we heard a squealing noise from our engine that lasted a minute then it stopped. We got off at the closest exit and realized that we had “No Brakes “. I prayed for our safety. Our truck ran through two stoplights that were red at the time. I downshifted the vehicle and stood on the brakes (hard pedal) and jumped over two concrete curbs before it finally came to a stop. We had it towed to Champion Chevrolet dealership in Athens Alabama. They diagnosed the problem as a brake vacuum pump that locked up and broke the belt too leaving us with no brakes at all. Champion Chevrolet worked us in and replaced the vacuum pump and belt. And got us back on the road for our vacation. We had to pay for a tow truck $100. An overnight stay at a hotel $150. I’m concerned about the tires, rims, alignment and suspension being damaged by jumping over the concrete curbs. I’m requesting a free inspection at a local Chevrolet dealership to thoroughly inspect and repair any damaged parts and a realignment. I also am out of pocket $250 for the tow and hotel room. I feel I’m being fair to ask for reimbursement and repairs. The dealership didn’t charge me for the repairs of the vacuum pump and drive belt as it was covered by a special recall (N182202780). Please direct me for escalation of reimbursement ,complimentary inspection and repair of my 2017 Silverado suspension or damages involved in this incident. excessive squealing noise coming from rear brakes from both sides of truck. I am original owner, and truck has less then 15,571 miles on it. Drove it to Chevrolet dealer in Kingsland Ga to evaluate. Before I arrived, about a 15-minute drive the Brake towing warning light came on. I was told by the dealership that both Brake Calipers had to be replaced as well as the brake pads that were damaged due to Brake Calipers locking up. The brake Rotors were fine and needed nothing. Repairs cost me around $1000 dollars. I think this is an unusual event due to the low milage, truck has always been garaged and dealership maintain. It's in brand new condition. Pulling a camper or trailer or even normal driving without towing could potentially cause an incident, fire or wreck. My truck is gasoline not diesel not included in the current safety bulletin. Truck was kept for 2 days for repairs.
While driving to work on interstate I22 in New Albany Mississippi I suddenly noticed serging and my RPM gauge fluctuating , I immediately knew it was torque converter failure at 134,000 mostly highway miles, which is a very low amount for a truck that I really don't work or pull trailers, I can accept transmission failure around 250,000 miles but not 134,000 , upon research I discovered GM had a lot of issues with it's light duty truck transmission from this generation of truck due to substandard torque converter material.
When stop and starts going you can feel that gear gets stuck and it takes a sudden jump to the next gear and goes forward.
I have a tork converter that locking the transmission and causing the truck to down shift and sometimes comes to a quick stop when braking. I am afraid if a family member drives the truck it could cause them to make a dangerous move in on goin traffic. Or not stopping and hitting a person or another vehicle. It hits hard and stops while pulling the vehicle in on coming traffic especially when not exspecting it all of a sudden.
The transmission in my truck completely failed on a busy road during rush hour. I was in stop and go traffic and after one of my stops the truck wouldn’t move Luckily I was in the right hand lane and about 150 feet from the entrance to a parking lot and a stranger helped me push it to that lot. I had it towed to the dealership I bought it at The recite they gave me says “ transmission pump has failed and burnt clutches”. I have never pulled a trailer and only had 78,000 miles on my truck
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic where the contact was advised to take to vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger side door air bag needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the repairs were not covered by a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
To be clear, the vehicle was not in an accident. The check airbag light keeps pinging every few minutes while driving. So I took to the Chevrolet of Watsonvill dealership and said the truck has a faulty passenger door airbag, which raises safety concerns for me. I have a [XXX] son as well as two [XXX] parents that sit in the passenger seat often and would hate for that faulty airbag to either deploy while driving or not deploy when needed. How do I see if this vehicle can be included in a safety recall? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I am filing a complaint regarding an electrical fire in the junction box of my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. The issue began when the front passenger side marker light would not turn off. I disconnected the battery overnight to troubleshoot the problem. However, when I reconnected the battery the next morning, an electrical fire occurred in the fuse junction box under the hood. At the same time, the engine unexpectedly attempted to turn over and start on its own. I immediately disconnected the battery again to stop the fire. Upon inspection, I found that several wires, plugs, and the top half of the junction box had sustained significant damage.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered and experienced hard downshifting. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
Engine shuts down on its own causing steering wheel to jerk and almost locks preventing control. Has been doing this for three weeks and is now getting much worse. Seems to do when making slow speed sharp turn. Almost hit another car in intersection yesterday due to steering control loss. I have seen numerous mentions of this on the internet but seems GM does not have a fix. The truck is now dangerous to drive as it can completely shut down in the middle of an intersection.
My 2017 Chevy Silverado was giving me minor issues about two weeks previously, I was coming on the road and hear like something broken in pieces. I stop at the light and when I was to go forward to continue my with driving the truck was going backwards.. so scary thanks God, I didn't press the acceleration fast I would it have hit the car on back of me . I set emergency lights and call for help.. truck was moved from the road and brought back home. Please look into this safety issue.
The transmission lost every gear but 1st, 2nd. I was driving it down the highway when it lost the gear putting myself, other motor vehicles, and pedestrians safety at risk. The transmissions are known to by others and gm to lose gears or blow and no recall has been issued to rectify the issues. the vehicle was scanned by a trusted local auto motive shop. there were no warning lamps messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. It was going down the road then slipped/sputtered, dropping in to second gear then the checking engine light came on.
I bought my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST used almost 2 years ago. I noticed shortly after buying it that the truck will stall in low gear then lunge forward unexpectedly, it didn't do it all the time just once in a while. Problem is it seems to be happening more frequently and varies in severity. I've asked the local GM dealerships about this issue several times while having it in for service or oil changes. But was told each time that its common with that transmission and nothing to be concerned about, the problem is that I am. I recently started doing research on this and noticed I'm not the only one having these same issues. I'm filing a report as it worries me that a vehicle I'm making payments on is acting this way. I'm also concerned that with the truck in drive and moving, without warning then lunges forward could cause myself or someone else serious injury or worse. This I believe is not the fault of the owner/driver, but GM itself. This problem is not an isolated issue, but one shared by many consumers, me included.
experienced several years of misfire problems , replaced spark plugs twice which seemed to fix the problem short term. while out of my home state(retraining for a new job in the Airforce) the misfire became significantly worse and made the truck undrivable. brought the truck to a local mechanic and they told me that I had bad misfires on the AFM/DOD cylinders and need to replace them all. chevy confirmed the diagnosis also stated there not going to offer coverage for this know issue. this know failure has costed me 15k in total costs when GM has know about this for years and could have fixed it before costing me so much money . I've also received no help from the chevy dealership or corporate regarding this know problem and I've been told its going to be an out of pocket repair and there's noting they will dop to help.
Brakes fail at low speed forward and reverse.
Airbag light comes on and off intermittently for last year
As I was driving I received a call while my phone was plugged in to the USB charging port and as I answered the call all the gauges on my dash, as well as the radio and all my warning lights shut off and turned back on and calibrated as if I first started the vehicle and reset. Then the radio and things wouldn't work. I had to pull over shut off the truck and restart it. This has happened 2 times already in less than as year I contacted the dealer and they really don't seem to care and keep putting me off or telling me they will call me which never happens. As of writing this still not fixed.
Transmission failure at 120, 000 was replaced. Then factory thermostat went and then trickled down to the transmission. Got too hot and cooked the transmission. Come to find out it was also the radiator so that was replaced along with the thermostat and a second transmission. Put a transmission cooler on but still get very warm on the transaction fluid. Can't keep the temperature down in the summer while I'm towing. Trailer is well under the weight of the max capacity for the truck. And the latest problem I've had was to replace parts of the frame because that was rotted and beyond inspectable. Now I'm 14,000 in the negative with no reprieve. What is GM going to do for me as far as reimbursement? Cuz I still owe a little over $9,000 on the truck. This is ridiculous and I believe I'm going to another brand of truck when I can get out from underneath this one. I've been a Chevy owner my entire life and this is how you guys react to all your mistakes.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop sign, the vehicle jerked before shifting into drive(D) and accelerating. The vehicle was immediately taken to a certified mechanic where it was confirmed that the vehicle had experienced transmission failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The dealer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure reoccurred at a stop light on the same day. The contact stated that the vehicle was only able to be shifted and functioned in reverse(R). The following day while attempting to accelerate while idling, the vehicle failed to operate. The vehicle was turned and restarted but failed to shift into gear. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 88,000.
Misfiring - technician told me I have to delete the AFM and replace all lifters. $10k+ repair that I can not afford
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45-50 MPH and then attempting to depress the brake pedal, the vehicle started pulling to the left, indicating the passenger’s side brake caliper had seized. The ABS warning light, and Stability Control failure warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Mavis Tires and Brakes body shop where brake pads and rotors were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to Mavis Tires and Brakes, and the two calipers, rotors, and brake pads were replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving approximately 41-60 MPH and hauling a trailer and attempting to stop at a stop light. The contact stated that the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately. The contact used an excessive amount of pressure to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle began pulling to the right and eventually coasted to a stop. The contact pulled into a nearby parking space where the brakes began smoking, the vehicle overheated, and the radiator fractured. The contact waited for the brakes to cool down and the smoke to dissipate before slowly driving to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the water pump had failed. The contact stated that the radiator had fractured, and 8 valves were damaged. The dealer linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer had been made aware of the failure where it was confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 175,000.
Recently had to have the transmission replaced on my truck. I was driving on an on-ramp onto a highway and my transmission would not change gears once reaching 50mph, where the speed limit was 70mph, causing me to almost be rear-ended. This was without warning, no lights came on and no other conditions were noticed prior to this event. I pulled off the highway and the transmission was making hard shuddering noises. I had a dealership look it over and they determined I needed a full transmission replacement. Upon researching online, this appears to be a common problem for this vehicle.
Brake system failed while driving and brake pedal was stiff and not responsive. Had to apply heavy pressure to brakes and could barely stop. Avoided accident barely when brakes failed. I noticed clicking noise from engine as I slowly drove home. Truck taken to Chevrolet dealer by wrecker service. Brake Assist warning light came on after the brake failed. Waiting on dealers evaluation and inspection.
My 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3l V8 has a common transmission failure. The torque converter started malfunctioning under 100,000 miles. I kept a good maintenance and was not expecting a transmission rebuilt. The truck almost cause an accident due to loss of acceleration and gears at the freeway speeds of 70mph.
My vehicle radio goes crazy, but oddly the speedometer goes away as well. I was able to get it back by turning radio off completely, but this should be a recall issue. Please help.
6L80 transmission delay of gear engagement. Gears slipping from 1st to 2nd to 3rd. Hard gear engagement when accelerating. RPM’s rev higher when transmission is shifting.
I am fully aware of of GM’s Hydra-Matic 8L90 transmission or Hydra-Matic 8L45 transmission on the 2015-2019 models. My wife was driving with our kids on the highway yesterday and the trucks immediate shaking, increased high RPMs, slow acceleration and violent downshifting. Scared them very much on the highway while going at the normal speeds of 65mph trying weave through traffic and make it back home on top of that. With zero warning and this having happened on my first 2011 Chevy Silverado as well. I know full well there are more class action lawsuits against GM. Them being allowed to get away with this consistent problem and not owning up to their failed products is unacceptable.
Radio randomly turns volume to maximum level and doesn’t allow you to reduce it. I can only fix it by turning truck off then on again.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado LD Crew. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond as intended and suddenly stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle worked in reverse but did not move forward. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact residence and was then towed back to an independent mechanic who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact related the failure with an unknown recall; however, the local dealer was contacted and confirmed the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired, since it was no longer under warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
Brakes failed. The brake assist pump disintegrated, sending metal fragments into the Motor's oil circulation system. I was able to stop the truck using both feet and applying extreme force to the pedal. The dealer identified the problem. The "Brake Assist" warning light came on during the episode.
Lost brakes 11/20/23 and GM replaced vacuum pump per policy n182202780. Vehicle had 143522 miles on it. Lost brakes again on [XXX] and vehicle needed another vacuum pump. This is just six months after first repair and vehicle now has 152987 miles. GM denied repair because truck had gone past 150000 miles. Bought my truck brand new in 2017 7 years at 119000 miles I was driving down the road stopped at a red light and when I proceeded to step on the gas when the light turn green my rpm would go up but the truck would not move in the middle of traffic I had to have it towed to a repair shop where I was informed there was an internal transmission failure which cost me nearly 10000 dollars out of pocket to fix never no check engine lights or notice before this happened or after
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that it was difficult to shift to second gear. The contact was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road and inspect the transmission fluid; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that an appointment was scheduled with a local dealer to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
This is a complaint in regards to the trailer breaking system in my certified pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado that I purchased in April of this year, 2024. I purchased this truck in particular for its high ratings in safety and towing capabilities. (April- May 2024) While towing a 22ft trailer from Virginia to Washington state, there were several moments where the “service trailer braking system” alert would appear on the dash. Driving on the interstate for days on end is twice as stressful when you have to wonder if your trailer brakes are reliable. If the trailer brakes were to suddenly stop working it would be dangerous for me and my passengers, as well as those around me on the road. (Sept- Oct 2024) We aren’t towing a trailer anymore, but the “service trailer braking system” light has been going off every couple minutes.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle jerked while accelerating and while braking. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
Shifting was noticeable with a hesitation. Dealership said it was normal. Developed into a shudder while driving. Shudder came up with transmission code and decreased power. Not driveable. Miles are less than 108k
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact had the vehicle diagnosed by a mobile mechanic. The mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that there was a misfire in cylinders #3 and #7. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact towed the vehicle to B2B Fleet Services where it was diagnosed and determined that the head caskets had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the lifters were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while at a stop the vehicle would not immediately accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that moments later the vehicle erroneously lurched forward. Later the vehicle would not drive forward and only operated in reverse. The vehicle was towed to the local service center who diagnosed that the transmission had developed an internal leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 84,000.
While turning vehicle at slow speeds the trailer warning,no trailer on vehicle, stability control hill assist radio and steering stop working as well as vehicle will stall out. Depending on when it happens it may stall while turning into traffic. I have searched the issue and found there is a ground problem under dash near windshield. It has happened multiple times like 15 as of this date.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked violently. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that on the first occasion, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after two attempts and the check engine warning light disappeared. The failure persisted after several minutes while driving. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at speeds under 15 MPH and pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would not immediately stop. The contact stated that the brake pedal extended to the floor, causing the braking distance to be extended. The vehicle was examined by the local mechanic who determined that the brake vacuum pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 51,000.
At 83,000 miles the transmission failed. We bought this car from a Chevy dealership with 35k miles in November of 2021. We have performed all required maintenance. If GM knows there is a transmission issue with these trucks why won’t they help their customers? It’s a 7k bill on a truck with many more payments and that has less than 100k miles.
Premature engine failure specifically the lifters failed and the push rod failed causing the vehicle to become unusable and stranding the operator. Also transmission surges and slips causing unsafe driving conditions
Automatic transmission (6L-80, 6-speed) failure around 92500 miles. After numerous loud and bad shifts, lost forward gears and had to be towed to repair shop. Required full replacement of transmission and torque converter out of warranty.
