2000 CHEVY SUBURBAN REAR GLASS HATCH HINGE ON PASSENGERS SIDE SEPARATED FROM THE GLASS, I HAVE READ ABOUT 50+ OF THESE FROM 2000-2005 MODELS AND GM SAYS NO ONE HAS COMPLAINED. THEY WANT YOU TO BUY A NEW ONE FOR $800.00. *TR
EXHAUST BOLTS BREAKING 0N 2002 SUBURBAN 2500 SERIES WITH 6.0 ENGINE. *TR
MY WIFE OWNS TWO GM SUBURBANS, 2002 AND 2004. BOTH EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO ROTTING BRAKE LINES WITHIN A WEEK OF EACH OTHER. I HAVE PAID OVER $2,000.00 TO HAVE THEM BOTH REPAIRED. THE 2002 FAILURE SENT ME OUT INTO THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOME UNABLE TO STOP. THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE 2004 OCCURRED WHILE ON A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP WITH MOST OF MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. THIS IS THE ONE THAT SPURS MY EFFORTS TO COMPLAIN. I COULD LOSE IT WHEN CONSIDERING WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY DUE TO THESE FAILURES ON TWO VERY EXPENSIVE CARS WHICH I WOULD NEVER HAVE EXPECTED TO FAIL LIKE THIS. I WOULD LIKE VERY MUCH NOT TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE AND IF I CAN GET A REFUND FOR THE COSTLY REPAIR THAT WOULD BE GREAT. I HAVE PRESERVED THE ROTTED BRAKE LINES. SPEEDOMETER ON 2002 AND 2003 MODEL OF CHEVROLET SUBURBAN STICKS AT A RANDOM PLACE. WE HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER TWICE BY POLICE FOR DRIVING TOO SLOW. HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON BUSY STREET, OUR 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN SUDDENLY WAS WITHOUT POWER. PRESSING ON ACCELERATOR DID NOTHING AND VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLED WHEN BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THIS LEFT US ATTEMPTING TO NAVIGATE FROM BUSY STREET WITH OUR THREE KIDS IN THE CAR WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES! WE WERE 140 MILES FROM HOME AND WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE BACK HOME, THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS TIME ON BUSY FOUR LANE ROAD WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT AGAIN LEAVING US ON SIDE OF BUSY ROAD AT ON RAMP LOCATION. THIS WAS NOT FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED. WE HAVE HAD 5 OTHER INCIDENCES WITH THIS VEHICLE. GM IS NO HELP. THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HAD ANY REPORTS OF SUCH PROBLEMS, YET MANY CAN BE FOUND ONLINE. WE HAD OUR VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR CENTER SINCE THE GM DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP WAS MORE INTERESTED IN TELLING US THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX IT ON THAT DAY BUT THEY DID HAVE A RENTAL CAR SERVICE ON LOT. I HOPE THAT SOON ATTENTION WILL BE GIVEN TO THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. BUT THEN AGAIN THAT IS WHAT IT TOOK FOR ATTENTION TO BE GIVEN TO TOYOTA PROBLEMS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500 LT. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HE WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,346.
MY 2002 CHEVY SUBURBAN HAS INTERMITTENT BUT INCREASINGLY MORE FREQUENT AND LONGER DURATION STARTING PROBLEMS. MY RESEARCH TELLS ME THAT IT IS EXHIBITING THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE 2000 AND 2001 SUBURBAN MODELS THAT WERE UNDER A 2005 FUEL PUMP HARNESS RECALL. AFTER NEARLY 4 MONTHS OF DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM, RESEARCHING IT, AND TRYING TO CONVINCE BOTH MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE PUMP, MY SUBURBAN FINALLY FAILED TO START AT ALL TODAY. TOMORROW MY LOCAL MECHANIC IS GOING TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP AND RELAY. I AM ANGRY TO DISCOVER THAT THE 2001 AND 2000 MODELS WERE UNDER RECALL FOR THIS VERY SAME ISSUE, BUT THE 2002 MODELS WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE DEALERSHIP -- COURTESY CHEVROLET IN SAN DIEGO -- DESPITE 3 RECENT VISITS THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM, FAILED TO MENTION THIS RECALL OF THOSE EARLIER YEAR MODELS. THEY FAILED TO EVEN RECOGNIZE THAT THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH MY SUBURBAN. THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS A COMPUTER DIAGNOSED CODE TELLS THEM WHAT TO DO. MY SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AND I'M REALIZING NOW HOW FORTUNATE I AM THAT THIS CAR DID NOT DIE ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF ONE OF THE MANY INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY. I'M ALSO FORTUNATE THAT MY CAR DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE! I'M ASKING YOU TO LOOK INTO HOW MANY 2002 SUBURBANS HAVE THE SAME FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP HARNESS ISSUES AS THE 2000 AND 2001 MODELS. 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500 LOSES ACCELERATION POWER ON HIGHWAY. VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS. ONCE BRAKE IS APPLIED VEHICLE COMPLETELY STALLS AND HAS NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 70 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AREAS. THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY IN OCCURRENCES. HAPPENED AUGUST 2007 , AND DEC. 2007, SEPT. 2009 AND NOVEMBER 2009. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. CAN NOT BE DIAGNOSED ON COMPUTER. GM MECHANICS CAN NOT FIGURE OUT PROBLEM UNLESS IT HAPPENS TO THEM. GM REFERS US TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSING AND REPAIRS UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PUT IN REPAIRS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT CORRECT PROBLEM. HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET DETAILING THIS PROBLEM BUT GM DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM. NOTICED THAT 2001 CHEVY SUBURBANS HAVE HAD A RECALL OF CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THAT SYMPTOMS ARE SIMILAR TO MY VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM POSES A TREMENDOUS LIFE AND DEATH SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY ESPECIALLY WHEN WE ARE TRAVELING IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS OR IN MOUNTAIN AREAS. *TR
ON NOVEMBER 16TH 2009 WITH NO WARNING MY 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN AND TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING SLOWLY AND THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD , CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK AND HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. DIRECT TIRE OF WATERTOWN (PHONE:617-923-1800) ADVISED THAT THE UNDER BODY BRAKE LINE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED IN SEVERAL PLACES, HAD RUPTURED IN ONE SPOT AND WAS LEAKING IN ONE OTHER PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THEM. THE RECEIPT FOR THE WORK DONE BY IS AVAILABLE. *TR
2002 CHEVY SUBURBAN 2500. 42,000 MILES. ENGINE STALLS WITH NO WARNING. SOMETIMES WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHT OR WHEN DRIVING. AFTER WAITING A FEW MINUTES CAR STARTS AFTER READING OTHER POSTS HAD CRANK SENSOR REPLACED TODAY VERY STRESSING AND DANGEROUS. -- NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. *TR
I HAD A NEARMISS, I CAME VERY CLOSE TO HITTING MY GARAGE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT LOCKED UP COMPLETELY AND THE CAR WILL NOT STOPPED. I HAD TO APPLY OVER 100 POUNDS OF PRESSURE FOR ABOUT 40 FEET BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. *TR
2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 2500 4WD TRANSFER CASE FAILURE *GR THE CONSUMER NOTICEABLE A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM BEHIND THE VEHICLE. HE PULLED OVER AND NOTICED OIL DRIPPING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DETERMINED THE TRANSFER CASE HOUSING HAD A HOLE IN IT. THE CONSUMER DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED IT WAS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSFER CASE OIL PUMP RETAINING METHOD, CAUSING THE PUMP TO MOVE AROUND IN THE HOUSING, EVENTUALLY WEARING A HOLE IN THE REAR TRANSFER CASE HOUSING. *JB
2002 CHEVY SUBURBAN: GRINDING NOISE HEARD ON UNDERCARRIAGE AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON. DETERMINED THE ABS PUMP WAS MAKING THE GRINDING SOUND AND FURTHER DETERMINED AN UNAVAILABLE PART COSTS ABOUT $1200 PLUS LABOR. THERE IS A WAITING LIST FOR THIS PART A MILE LONG. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WORTHY OF RECALL INVESTIGATION. DEALERS TEMPORARY SOLUTION IS TO UNPLUG THE ABS FUSE AND DRIVE IT UNTIL THE PART COMES AVAILABLE. WE WERE TOLD TO BE CAREFUL IN THE RAIN AS IT IS UNSAFE WITHOUT ABS BRAKES. PART MIGHT BE AVAILABLE IN 2 TO 4 MONTHS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MP. PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICE REPAIR WOULD BE AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000 (COMPONENT: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTI-LOCK). THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
2002 SUBURBAN 2500 8.1 FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. VEHICLE DIED ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. ALMOST CRASHED INTO OTHER VEHICLES. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. DUE TO THE SENSOR FAULT NEVER BEING STORED IN THE FAULT CODES. THE 2001 8.1 HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS REASON WHY HASN'T THE 2002 ITS THE SAME PART NUMBER? THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. MY 2002 K2500 SUBURBAN ENGINE DIES ABRUPTLY WHILE DRIVING, WITH NO WARNING (NEITHER SPUTTERING NOR MESSAGES ON THE DASH). AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WAITING BETWEEN A FEW SECONDS AND A FEW MINUTES, THE ENGINE WILL START. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES AT ANY SPEED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD, AS ALL POWER TO STEERING AND BRAKES IS LOST WHEN THE ENGINE DIES. THESE RANDOM STALLS HAVE BEEN INCREASING IN FREQUENCY OVER THE LAST COUPLE YEARS. MY CAR ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES - MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING. APPARENTLY LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY CONDITION. IS GM JUST GOING TO WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO GET KILLED BEFORE THEY ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED SHE EXPERIENCES UNWANTED ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATION. THIS CAN CAUSE INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES DURING LOW-SPEED BRAKE APPLICATIONS, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. SHE CONTACTED THE DEALER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL # 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTI LOCK). UPON CONTACT THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VIN NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE VIN RANGE, SHE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REMEDY. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 108,000.
ANTILOCK BRAKES ERRATIC OPERATION LESS THAN 5 MPH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL AT A LOW SPEED HE NOTICED THAT THE ABS SUDDENLY ACTIVATED WHICH ALSO INCREASED THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS ON THE INTERSTATE, I EXPERIENCED FULL POWER LOSS. WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED IN NEUTRAL. ENGINE TURNED, JUST DIDN'T FIRE. NO SPUTTER, NO DASH LIGHTS, JUST AN INSTANT SHUT DOWN. I PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY, PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. FORTUNATELY, THIS EXPERIENCE WAS ON AN NOT SO CROWDED AND STRAIGHT SECTION OF THE HIGHWAY. I FEAR THIS COULD HAPPEN IN A TURN, IN AN INTERSECTION, OR ANY SITUATION WHERE THE LACK OF POWER STEERING COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE IS THE LATEST IN A FEW RELATED. WHAT STARTED A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AS INTERMITTENT FAILED ENGINE STARTS, HAS PROGRESSED INTO INTERMITTENT ENGINE STALLS. INITIAL PROBLEMS WERE START RELATED. THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A NORMAL STARTING SOUND, BUT JUST NOT FIRE. IT WOULD THEN START NORMALLY ON THE SECOND OR THIRD ATTEMPT. I SEE A RECALL FOR THE 2001 VERSION OF MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE/ENGINE TYPE, AND AN INVESTIGATION OPENED ON THE 2002 MODEL. THIS HAS TO BE RELATED. THE CHEVROLET DEALER FAILED TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE THIS WEEK AND DID NOT RECEIVE ANY CODES POINTING TO THE ISSUE. THEY WILL NOT BLINDLY REPLACE PARTS ON A HUNCH, EVEN WITH THE CAR BEING UNDER A FULL EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. FORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET STALLED IN A CRITICAL SITUATION. *TR
THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATES WHEN COMING TO A STOP ON DRY PAVEMENT. TYPICALLY 10 MILES PER HOUR AND LESS. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST 40% OF THE TIME WHEN STOPPING. WE ALMOST RAN IN TO THE BACK OF A PARKED VEHICLE. A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN JANUARY OF 2007 BUT I AM WONDERING IF THIS WAS ACTUALLY FIXED OR JUST REPLACED WITH THE SAME PARTS THAT WENT BAD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. WHILE TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED OF 5MPH ON A DRIED PAVEMENT, THE ANTILOCK BRAKE ENGAGED UNEXPECTEDLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER WAS FORCED TO APPLY EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER; HOWEVER, HE IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07E106000, WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 112,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A BLAST OF AIR LIKE A TORNADO OR HURRICANE IN MY CAR. PAPERS AND THINGS IN MY CAR STARTED FLYING. WHEN I STOPPED I DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR WINDOW HAD SEPERATED ITSELF FROM THE FRAME AT THE TOP AND WAS NOW OPEN BY AN INCH. THE WINDOW IS DESIGNED TO OPEN FROM THE BOTTOM WITH A LATCH. THE TWO HINGES AT THE TOP OF THE WINDOW HAD NOW ALSO SNAPPED BROKEN FROM THE WINDOW, LEAVING ONLY THE SIDES ATTACHED. THIS IS A VERY LARGE WINDOW AND COULD HAVE TOTALLY COME OFF IN TRAFFIC CAUSING GREAT HARM TO OTHERS. IF THE WINDOW HAD BEEN OPEN AS IT IS ALSO DESIGNED IT WOULD HAVE BLOWN OFF. I HAVE SINCE FOUND THAT THE COLLISION REPAIR PLACE I USED SAID HE HAD ANOTHER JUST LIKE IT THE WEEK BEFORE. IN TRYING TO REPLACE THE WINDOW WITH ANOTHER USED ONE HE FOUND THAT THE ADHESIVE WAS ALSO STARTING TO DO THE SAME, THEREFORE IT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. IN FIXING THE WINDOW THE COLLISION EXPERT SHOWED HOW EASY IT WOULD BE FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO FIX. IT NEEDS BOTH SIDES OF THE HINGES BOLTED. I DO FEEL THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO SAVE OTHERS HARM. I HAVE ALSO SAVED ALL PARTS PERSONALLY FOR ANY/ALL INSPECTION.
ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT RANDOM TIMES, APPROXIMATELY EVERY 80 MILES. ENGINE WILL START BACK AFTER A WAIT OF MORE THAN 30 SECONDS. THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHILE HOT OR COLD, IDLING OR DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. *TR

THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY SLOWING DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2002 CHEVROLET 2500 SUBURBAN WITH AN 8.1L ENGINE. AFTER ONLY A WEEK IT WOULD SUDDENLY STALL AT DIFFERENT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT DID THIS 3 TIMES IN ONE WEEK. I THEN DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WAS THE CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR, WHICH HAS BEEN RECALLED ON 2001 MODELS. WHY HAS THIS PART NOT BEEN RECALLED ON THE 2002 MODEL IT HAS THE EXACT SAME DEFECTIVE SENSOR FROM THE FACTORY AS THE 2001 HAD. THIS FAILURE CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN AN SUV OF SUCH SIZE. SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND VERY HEAVING STEERING REQUIRING GREAT EFFORT. I MADE A HARD U-TURN AND THEN FOUND THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HEAVY. IT TOOK BOTH HANDS AND A LOT OF FORCE TO STEER THE CAR. I PULLED OVER, POPPED HOOD, AND SAW NOTHING WRONG. NO DASH MALFUNCTION LIGHTS WERE ON. AT REPAIR, THE STEERING PUMP SHAFT HAD SHEARED WHERE IT NECKS DOWN FROM ABOUT 3/4" TO 3/8" DIAMETER. AN INTERNET SEARCH PROVIDES MANY INSTANCES OF THE SAME FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PUMP WITH A DIFFERENT PART NUMBER WHICH DOES NOT HAVE THE VARIABLE EFFORT STEERING FEATURE. I WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT-IMPACT MOTOR-VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN MY 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN THE IMPACT OCCURRED. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH MY 2002 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN LS WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT, I ENCOUNTERED A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WOULD COAST UNTIL I REACHED A SPEED OF 30MPH., I WOULD PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND ATTEMPT TO RE-START THE ENGINE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD RE-START, ACCELERATE TO 70 MPS. THIS WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENT OVER AND OVER THROUGH MY TWO DRIVING TRIP. THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF TIME THE ENGINE FAILED WAS 14. I HAVE A 2002 SUBURBAN THAT SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2002 I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. EVERY TIME I BROUGHT IT IN IT WOULD BE IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR LESS THAN A DAY AND I WOULD BE TOLD THAT EVERYTHING IS OKAY. NOW MY WARRANTY IS UP AND MY TRANSMISSION IS BROKE. I HAVE NO REVERSE, AND IT DOES NOT WANT TO DOWN SHIFT ON ANY FORWARD GEAR. I HAD MY LEFT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER, HUB, ROTOR, BRAKE HOSE, BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED ROTORS. A NEW LEFT FRONT TIRE AND $2,700 MY CAR WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AGAIN. ALL THE TECHNICIANS THAT SAW MY CAR WERE AMAZED THAT I DIDN'T LOSE THE TIRE. THEY WERE AMAZED TO SEE IT HANGING ON BY A THREAD. I UNDERSTAND THAT GM HAS SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THEIR BRAKE CALIPERS AND HUB. I DO NOT TRUST THE RIGHT SIDE SO I AM REPLACING THAT CALIPER AS WELL. I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE, ESPECIALLY A MOM DRIVING ON A TRIP WITH HER YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS IS A DEFAULT IN HE CAR AND ITS BRAKES AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS INVESTIGATED.
