Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was restarted and driven; however, approximately one minute later, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was restarted and driven to a nearby parking lot. A certified mechanic arrived and inspected the vehicle. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with rod bearing failure, which caused damage to the engine. The vehicle was driven to the residence, and the contact was advised not to drive the vehicle to prevent a blown engine. The vehicle was not repaired. After the failure, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale on July 30, 2025. At the time of purchase, the mileage was approximately 180,000. The odometer indicated that the current mileage was 193,000. After researching the information on Infotracer.com, the contact discovered that on July 1st, 2001, the mileage was documented as 242,765. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure.
*From day one of purchase there is a random, frequent loud buzzing/whining through the speakers(with our without the radio on). Dealership had no idea how to fix and Chevrolet said there was no known issue, so no help. *The running lights constantly short out. We continually replace them and they short out again! *We have replaced all four door handles! Cheap chrome plastic is not going to hold up. These should actually be metal to insure holding up! *The tires seem too big since they rub the fender well if you cut sharply to either side. You can actually hear them rubbing on the well as you cut hard to either side! *The dash cracked about five years after we purchased it. We kept it under our carport and this cracking was unacceptable! I called Chevrolet and they said there was no known issue or recall. We continued to ask our dealership to look for recalls on this. *There was a recall on our passenger side airbag. We tried to get it replaced and were told, no they could not. Takata went bankrupt, so sorry, Chevrolet will not replace air bag for you! *After a few years of not being able to use our front seat due to safety issues Chevrolet would not fix(defective airbag), we decided to save and get the airbag and cracked dash replaced on our own. Unacceptable! Proclaimed recalls should be tended to by manufacturer! *The cruise control just stopped working one day early on, no recall--not surprised:( *The fuel tank is cutting off at the pump as we try to put gas into the tank. This is problematic as the vehicle will not run without fuel! Currently fighting with this and contacting dealership to see if they can help at all. Everyone we know who has a Suburban or Tahoe has these same problems! These are all widespread problems/design flaws. Please look into these issues to make a better product!
I took my vehicle to have to air bag repaired and it has a cracks all over the dashboard now. I contacted to representative and was informed this is a Hazzard of this vehicle. It is a known issue but it has not been addressed by the GMC company. How many people have to be injured or killed before it becomes and actual safety issue? Whose life is considered expendable? If it is a known issue and it has been, in good faith, brought to GMCs attention, why has it not been corrected?
TK Holdings Inc. (“Takata”) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in the passenger-side frontal airbag inflators installed as original equipment in certain 2007 to 2014 model year Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT vehicles; certain Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado 1500, Silverado 2500/3500, Suburban, and Tahoe vehicles; and certain GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra 2500/3500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The determination was made that the propellant in these inflators may degrade after long-term exposure to high humidity and temperature cycling, which could cause the inflator to rupture during a deployment. The front dash had suffered catastrophic cracking and damage from the sun and or heat. The majority of the Dan is so badly cracked and faking apart, a aftermarket dash cover was purchased to cover the unsightly OEM dash.
My dash is completely cracked in several places, I believe it’s a 2 piece dash the section closest to the windshield and the other half has the vents passenger airbag. There is approximately a 1 inch gap between the 2 pieces as well as multiple cracks. Also the rear sensors on the bumper I had replaced one and the part cost me $20 or less. I am disabled and was able to have a friend get under the rear of the truck and change 1 sensor. There still was a code and I had nobody around that could help me and I was due for inspection and thought I may get failed if they see a code. With that I brought my vehicle to Schumacher Chevrolet in Livingston NJ. So they told me I had another bad sensor and I had no way to clear the code so I had them do the repair. They told me the same part I brought for under $20 cost me there almost $300 for the sensor.. Do they have to use their parts or should they had given me the opportunity to get an aftermarket one whether they got it or I got it and then have them finish the job. Needless to say I walked out with a bill around $500. I’m permanently disabled and receive a little money from S.Security every months. That cost my 1/3 of my entire check for the month. I always thought they give you an option or aftermarket parts. I’ve had other vehicles in my life before I was disabled and always was asked. I’m really disappointed in the condition of the dash and the crazy amount for a part. Note I do have a 2008 F-Series Super Duty truck with a little over 108,000 miles and my Suburban only has 89,000 miles yet my Ford dash doesn’t have one crack in the dash. I also had a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe and sold that in 2010 and got the new truck I mentioned but I have well over 120,000 miles on it and that didn’t have any dash cracks. That should be held accountable obviously it’s an issue with the company or how they are making the dash. My 75th Anniv Suburban should not have dash issues with as much as the vehicle costs. Parts are too $$
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled; however, the contact was notified that parts were not available for the recall repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE THIS MORNING, 11/17/2020, I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE DASH NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. AS I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 129173.
MY TRUCK IS AFFECTED DUE TO THE CRACKED DASH THAT IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM IN GYM TRUCKS LIKE MY 2010 SUBURBAN.
2010 5.3L ENGINE CONSUMES OIL AT AN EXCESSIVE RATE. THE LACK OF A LOW OIL WARNING HAS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BE RUN WITHOUT OIL FOR EXCESSIVE PERIODS OF TIME. ENGINE ISSUES INCLUDE STALLING AND INABILITY TO START VEHICLE UNTIL DIAGNOSED BY MECHANIC AS BEING VOID OF OIL. OIL CONSUMPTION HAS BEEN AS HIGH AS 100% WITHIN A SIX MONTH PERIOD AFTER COMPLETING A CERTIFIED OIL CHANGE BY ASE PROFESSIONALS.
While driving down the road a large piece of the dash exploded violently projecting a sharp plastic piece of the dash, hitting driver in the face, narrowly missing the eyes, bouncing off and landing in the 2nd row seating area. Thankfully, there was no infant or child in those seats or they could have been injured. The temperature outside was 100+ in the summer in Texas. The cracking dash issue has been reported by us and by numerous other complainants many times previously. This is an ongoing problem that has clearly not been taken seriously by GM.
WE NOTICED A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD THAT APPEARS TO MOVE BETWEEN THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND THE CENTER DASH VENT ON JULY 11TH, 2020. THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF NOISE "RATLLING" FROM THE DASH BOARD. ON JULY 18TH WE NOTICED THAT THE SPA E ON THE DASH UNDER THE VENT WAS HANGING EVEN LOWER AND MORE NOISE.ON 7/27/20 WE REALIZED THE CRACK CONTINUES TO SPREAD AND THE DASH IS SUNK IN MORE. WE ARW CONCERNED THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF NEEDED OR THAT FURTHER COSMETIC INJURY WILL HAPPEN TO THE DASH. THE CAR WAS INITIALLY STATIONARY OUTSIDE OUR HOME. EACH INSTANCE THE CRACK IS VISIBLE AS WELL AS THE INCREASED SPACE UNDER THE VENT. THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE EVIDENT AS WE DROVE OFF EACH TIME. WE TAKE CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY WHEN DRIVING. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. WE HAVE OWNED SEVERAL MAKES AND MODELS OF DIFFERENT VEHICLES AND HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. WE DO KNOW WE HAVE SIX CHILDREN AND THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR THAT WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING.
IT TAKES 3 TO 4 TRIES BEFORE THE SEATBELT CLICKS ON . DRIVER SIDE
SEVERE DASH CRACKING AROUND AIRBAGS. IF REPAIRED, I'M AFRAID THAT AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY. CRACKS ARE GETTING WORSE.
TRUCK LOSES POWER TO ENGINE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE NO OIL PRESSURE NO FUEL NO SPEEDOMETER AND NO ROOMS BUT MY BATTERY RUNS ON ABOUT 14. TRUCK WILL DRIVE AT SPEED IT SHUTSDOWN AT BUT IF U STOP IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER TO GAIN SPEED. THIS HAS DID THIS ABOUT 5 TIMES IN 2 WEEKS I HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES AND WE ARE UNABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT. IF U TURN THE TRUCK UP IT WILL NOT START U HAVE TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY TO GET POWER BACK.

AIRBAG RECALL AND GERRY LANE CHEVROLET'S REPRESENTATIVE CONTINUES TO TELL ME THAT A REMEDY FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL HAS NOT BEEN FOUND YET. THIS IS A RECALL!
THE DASH IS CRACKED IN MANY PLACES FOR NO REASON AND SOME OF THE PIECES ARE SHARP.

CRACKS (2 SEPARATE CRACKS; PHOTOS ATTACHED) APPEARED IN THE DASHBOARD OF 2010 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN LT ABOVE THE STEERING COLUMN AND NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THE CRACKS APPEARED -- THERE WAS NO EVENT TO CAUSE THE CRACKS TO APPEAR. A SEARCH ON A GM ONLINE FORUM ADVISED THIS TO BE A KNOWN DEFECT FOR CARS OF THIS MODEL AND YEAR.

DASH CRACKING IN MULTIPLE AREAS AROUND THE AIRBAG CREATING A FLYING PROJECTILES HAZARD EVEN IN A MINOR FENDER BENDER IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS
CRACKED DASH IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS.
I HAVE READ 1,000'S OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE DASH BOARD CRACKING. I HAVE A CRACK ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND NOW ABOVE THE STEERING CLUSTER. THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS TO CONTINUE TO GO UNATTENDED.
CRACKED DASH OVER PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG
2010 CHEVY SUBURBAN......CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALER, IT SCANNED AS THE FUEL PUMP MODULE PART# 2087716 AND ALSO THE ABS, BRAKE LIGHT, STABILTRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER, THIS SCANNED AS ELECTONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE. I HAD THE FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACED AT THE DEALER AND HAVE FOUND A RECALL BULLETIN FOR THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM. HOWEVER THIS IS VIN SPECIFIC?? SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED UNDER THE GM RECALL NO14515B .
DASH IS FALLING APART, FULL OF CRACKS; CHUNKS OF PLASTIC DASH HAVE BROKEN OFF. POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY IF DASH AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED. LARGE SHARP PIECES OF DASH WILL BREAK LOOSE AND BECOME PROJECTILES/ SHRAPNEL. I BELIEVE SUNLIGHT AND HIGH HEAT IN PARKED CAR HAS CAUSED THIS. NOT CAUSED BY AN ACCIDENT. DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW. SHOULD BE RECALLED.
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS AIRBAG REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. I CONTACTED FRED CALDWELL CHEVROLET MOST RECENTLY ON 12/9/17. EACH TIME, INCLUDING MY LAST CONTACT ON 12/9/17, I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THEY CANNOT DO THE REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN SUPPLIED WITH REPLACEMENT PARTS FROM THE AIRBAG COMPANY TO COMPLETE THE THE REPAIR.
2010 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN MY DASH BOARD INEXPLICABLY CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES SOME AROUND THE AIR BAG. AFTER RESEARCHING, I FOUND THOUSANDS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND ARE CONCERNED THE CHEAP PLASTIC DASH COULD TURN TO SHRAPNEL IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE READ PEOPLE SPEND HUNDREDS, SOMETIMES THOUSANDS TO FIX THE DAMAGE ONLY FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS POOR AND CHEAP DESIGN FLAW. NO ONE DESERVES TO SPEND $40K ON A VEHICLE THAT LITERALLY CRACKS APART IN A SHORT TIME OF OWNERSHIP. IF GM REALLY STANDS BEHIND THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS, THEN THEY NEED TO STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. AND WHILE I'M AT IT ALL VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS NEED TO STOP MAKING SUCH CHEAP UNSAFE PIECE OF CRAPS THAT ARE CONSTANTLY BEING RECALLED FOR SOME REASON OR ANOTHER. NHTSA NEEDS TO HOLD THESE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT ONLY RIPPING US ALL OFF, BUT ALSO PRODUCING SUCH UNSAFE VEHICLES. STAND UP AND GROW A BACKBONE NHTSA!
TAKATA RECALL . I WANT A RESOLUTION AND A SOLUTION TO FIX MY AIR BAGS BEFORE A DISASTER STRIKES ! I AM VERY FRIGHTENED FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF. MY SUBURBAN HAS BEEN IN THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR AIRBAG ISSUES! THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITEDLEY AND I NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY ARE WORKING OR NOT . THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT OF THE PETITION BEING EXPANDED UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2017; THEREFORE, NO VEHICLES WERE BEING REPAIRED AT THE TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
2 CRACKS ACROSS THE DASHBOARD THIS HAS TO BE FROM DEFECTIVE PLASTIC MADE IN MANUFACTURING THE DASHBOARD.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED AROUND AIRBAG AND I AM CONCERNED IF THE AIRBAG WAS EVER DEPLOYED THE BROKEN DASHBOARD WOULD ACT LIKE SHRAPNEL AND INJURE PASSENGERS.
MY AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT HAS COME ON IN MY DASH AND WHEN I PULLED THIS UP ON YOUR SITE I AM NEEDING TO NO IF I TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ARE THEY GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR AM I GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PART ORIGINALLY INSTALLED IN MY VEHICLE. THE DASH CRACKED OUT OF THE BLUE ONE MAIN SPOT AND IT BRANCHED OFF FROM THERE. I JUST LOOKED UP YESTERDAY AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE CAR AND THERE IT WAS IT WASN'T THERE THE OTHER DAY.

THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DASHBOARD CRACKED WITH NO INCIDENT TO CAUSE IT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WAS NOTICED WHEN RETURNING TO THE CAR. THE VEHICLE IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND PARKED/PROTECTED WITH SPACES THAT ARE COVERED. THERE ARE TWO CRACKS, ONE EXTENDS FROM UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND THE OTHER STARTS AND EXTENDS NEAR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ON GM MADE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2007-2013. THERE IS NO EVENT THAT CAUSED THIS CRACK AND THE VEHICLE IS PROTECTED FROM EXTREME HEAT AND COLD. NON-ABRASIVE CLEANING PROTECTS ARE ALSO USED ON THE DASH. THIS HAPPENS TO A MAJORITY OF OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES AND THERE IS EVEN A FACEBOOK GROUP WITH OVER 4000 MEMBERS THAT DOCUMENTS ALL THE PROBLEMS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IF THE AIRBAG GOES OFF OR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT OCCURS, THEN SMALL PIECES OF PLASTIC CAN EASILY BECOME PROJECTILES. THESE VEHICLES ARE MUCH TO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS WITH NO MAJOR EVENT TO CAUSE IT.
MY DASH CRACKED IN TWO PLACES ONE AT THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG AND THE OTHER IN THE CENTER OF MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NOTICED THIS WHILE DRIVING YESTERDAY.
JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE ONLINE, MY DASH IS REALLY CRACKED. I HAVE 32 INCHES OF CRACKING. THIS VEHICLE IS IN SUPER SHAPE EXCEPT FOR THE DASH. *TR
THE CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON RANDOMLY AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT USUALLY STAYS ON FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS OR SO AND GOES OFF FOR SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE POPPING BACK ON. WE USUALLY SEE THIS HAPPEN WHEN THERE ARE TEMPERATURE CHANGES FROM SEASON TO SEASON. EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A RECALL CONCERNING THE AIRBAG SYSTEM ON CERTAIN MAKES AND MODELS, WE WERE SURPRISED WHEN OUR TRUCK WAS NOT ON THE LIST.

LARGE CRACKS IN THE DASH BOARD. SOME STARTING AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG AND SOME STARTING OVER THE STEERING WHEEL AREA.
DASH CRACKED AND FELL APART. HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD ASSEMBLY. THE DASH WAS CRACKING AS IF IT WAS MADE OF GLASS. A PIECE OF THE DASH EVEN BROKE OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND FELL ON MY LAP..
ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THE MESSAGE "SERVICE AIR BAG" AND AIRBAG READINESS LIGHT SYMBOL STAYS ON WHEN IGNITION ON AND WHILE DRIVING. DASHBOARD CRACKED. BACK PASSENGER SEATBELT WON'T LOCK AT TIMES.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
